Another bad night. Oliver was up every 3 hours. I'm tired and he's tired, and we have our housewarming party today... He's been fighting his day sleeps, but I've managed to send him off... and this is how: he's in his baby carrier facing me, I'm rocking him continuously, his nursery rhymes cd is playing, he has his dummy and then a cloth nappy over his head to block his vision so he can't get distracted... The things we do to get babies to sleep! Having said that, he has been asleep for 1.5 hours now, so that's good news! Hopefully he'll be in a good mood for the housewarming now.
sterla: aww...must be a growth spert! and yes the things we do! i looked like a nutter walking around our FROUNT yard yestrday with daz...he's a noesy one!
i hope your house warming goes well!
ello laides!
Sterla: i hope you had a good house warming and are enjoy the girls night!
Moose: hope all goes well with sammys christing tomorrow!
PJ: hope summers behaving for you!
AFM : daz has been really good today! we went to a tupper wear party, it was just me and nother girl from MG and her mum as a host. i've been talked into having one! haha. but you know what was really funny? the girl from MG her son gave her mum the DEATH stare. as in the kind you think "wow if looks could kill that person would be a puff of smoke" kinda death stare! all becuae she was talking to daz! tomorrow DH attempts to put a new stero in my car. as the one thats in there now...will NOT play *any* CDs i've tried 'normal' ones, burnt ones even an internatal one! but NOPE naddar, zip. so i'll be happy!
Ohh and last night i had a 'talk" with DH about when we're going to TTC...as i've got the urge to have another bub. i tried to talk about november but he said june next year but hopefuly i can try and gain some kind of middle ground. his only reson was the labour side of things as i was very, very vocal (and phyiscal EG bashing on walls LOL) and he 'needs time to get over it' but when i told him "umm, why im the one who phyicaly goes through all the pain and pushing...i get you see it but i feel every singel centermeater that the baby moves down!" so im a little "grrr" right now. but who knows...i guess i also see it as we may not fall preg. the first time...and i dont want any more then 2yrs between kiddlets. any whooo i better go. hope every one is having a good night!
Sterla-You poor thing!!Another bad night hey,bet you felt lousy,i feel like death(and look it)when i dont get much!!Hope the house warming still went ok!glad you got him to sleep, and hopefully you had a good night last night!
Blip-How funny the death stare!!My sister in law has a 14 month old little girl and now that summers here and is the only other girl grandchild in a huge line of boys and when poppy plays with summer she gets right bent out of shape and also i reckon ive seen the death stare too for her mum sooo funny hey!dont you love these men?cant cope with it all haha!No wander we are the ones who were giving the job of having children!!My DH is the same, think i'll be lucky to have another one before summers 2 bt id like them close too.
well i had a good day yesterday,we went for a drive and had a nice lunch out with DHs parents, was a bit hard at some stages because they seem to not get the whole summer not having any sleep equals summer being a big screaming mess and they just wouldnt let her sleep!!Thankfully she had a bout half an hour on the way and on the way back but thats it the whole day!!So im trying to put her to sleep and there like you guys are obsessed with her having sleep, shes not tired and shes getting bigger now she doesnt need all that sleep so made it a bit hard but anyway she was actually amazingly good considering and went to bed at about 7.30 and didnt wake up till 6.45!!So she must of been tired,i mean she used to do that nearly every night but lately shhes been waking at 4.30 then going back to sleep so then im thinking, maybe there right and shes having too much day sleep? But i feel she needs it,id say she still would have easy 16 hours in 24hour period, like 10-12 in one go then another 3 in one go mid morning and then another 2 or so in arvo, but shes happy and she doesnt really fight it so i think well she must need it!!Ooooooooooh its all a bit of a drama with inlaws isnt it??anyway, shes here in bed with me,its cold today,so we watching tv in bed for a bit,DH had to work so better go get some brekky, hope everyone had a good night and has a good day!
Blip: Lol about the death stare! That's good that you have started talking to your DH about TTC#2 - at least you're getting the topic on the table. I'm sure you'll work it out soon enough. I've been thinking about when I want the next bub, but I'm still trying to decide how big or small a gap I'd like... there's good and bad points both ways. Hope your DH comes around soon .
1PJ: That sounds nice - going for a drive and having lunch. I know exactly what you mean about people not understanding that bubs need sleep. I have some family and friends who insist on trying to keep Oliver up for as long as possible, then when he gets cranky cause he's tired they start saying "What's wrong with him?" Grrr!!! How fantastic about Summer's big sleep though! I wish Oliver would do that!
Moose: How was Sammy's christening? Can't wait to hear all about it .
Peach and Antheia: Hope you and your bubs are doing okay.
AFM: Well, I am quite exhausted. We had such a busy, full-on weekend! Our housewarming went really well, and everyone we invited turned up (which I wasn't expecting). There was about 30 people all squeezed into our house - and 30 people looks like a lot in one house! There was soooo much food too, but it all got eaten!
I feel like I barely got to see anyone... between getting all the food ready and tending to Oliver I was busy, busy! I managed to say a quick hello to everyone though. Poor Oliver was a bit overwhelmed by all the people, poor little guy, but was pretty good for the most part.
We got a few good pressies: a nice Welcome mat, a Bunnings voucher, some mugs, a dip+chips bowl, a decorative glass bowl, a plant, a couple of fruit trees, and a rather large cheque from FIL to get a heat pump installed!!!
Everyone left by 7pm except my friends who stayed on so we could have a bit of a catch up. It was great... but exhausting! Then this morning we did it all over again. We had my friends over for brunch before they went home (most of them live a couple of hours away) - lots of food again. Oh, and then my family over in the afternoon...
And in amongst all this I've been running on very little sleep, as Oliver has still been waking 3 times a night. I'm feeling okay now, but have a feeling this lack of sleep and the full-on weekend is going to catch up with me at some stage. At least Oliver went down for his sleeps easily today - no hours of him fighting it .
Well, I'm off to watch Rove. Hope everyone is having a good night.
pj: i so understand about people and not letting bubs sleep! my mother of *all* people is the worst - her thiory "he'll sleep better later" umm NO she's not there later! but its good summer has had a good long sleep (and the half hour in the car is always a good thing!)
Sterla: YaY glad the house warming went well as did the night with friends! i hope it dosent catch up with you...and that its all smoothe sailing from here on in! i hope oli is a good boy and has a long sleep tonight! and Rove was really funny...mind you i dont mind Huesy (sp?) isnt going to be on there...he annoys me FAR too much!
AFM: last night i posted after having a few (lol) when daz was asleep...hehe...its been a while. heck i sit here now with another one (burbon and coke!) just to relax! been a quiet one here again. DH put a new CD player in my car and OMG it plays CD'S! plus all this other stuff that makes me go and DH got haha. daz has been good. he fell alseep in in bouncer today for the first time ever. then about 3.5hrs later he fell alseep on his play mat. and i only just got him off to bed (he'll be awake around 12:30-1am now. *finaly* talked to DH in more detale about tt#2. he was all for 2.5yrs between kids and i expained that for me that would be far too long. becuase by the time daz is 2 and a half years old i'd have (in theiory) my 'old body back' (as much as one can post-baby who isnt elie Mc ferson or hidei clum!) and then i'd have to go though the whole thing again. plus i made a point clear to him - i am the one who goes thought the body changes, i am the one who goes though the labour and most of all im the one whose home and has to deal with 90% of the major changes. he said he isnt ready for it just yet (as in Nov. this year) so he said early next year we'll talk and possably start. which made me feel better as he wanted june/july next year! plus i think its half gotting into his head that we may not get UTD first go...
O-M-G! something really funny/freaky/strange just happend. i logged into FB...and a guy i knew from PREP (though to about grade 2ish?) added me! ohh the poor kid lost both his mum and dad to cancer before he finished high school. and from what we could gather he had a 'thing' for me...so it'll be interesting to see if he contacts me at all (i left a wall post saying "its YOU! its been 10yrs+ hasnt it?!?!" lol...see this is why i shouldnt drink and surf the BB...I start acting as i do IRL - and babble and talk about *everything* and anything...plus DH is alseep...and i cant waffle on to him about it lol
i better head off...i hope every one has a wonderful night!
Blip-HEEHEE!Loved your post!!Hey at least your sharing your nice little stories, everytime i have drinky poos lately im snorin real quick!!How cutes Daz falling asleep on things!!!Thats so good you can talk to your DH about ttc2 mine wouldnt even listen yet if i did,i totally hear you all you said is so right,i feel the same,at first i wanted at least 2 years betwee them but im getting too old and id like em close and like you say with the baby weight and i think hey have em all close get all the sleepless nights and things out the way!!
Sterla-sounds like you had a great time with your house warming and friends!!What are you running on??wow!Id be a grumpy mess!!!Glad Oliver went to sleep good yestdy, maybe he was to tired to fight this time, its funy sometimes summer will just cry and cry then others just go straight to sleep, over tiredness is weird!Hope he slept good last night too?
Well sums aslleep, shes been a sure grump lately!!I took her to the shops yesterday and all she did was winge (and it was her happy awake time-supposedly)and then thismorning i took her out for a walk and visited this elerly couple who live not to far away amd she wouldnt go in her pram again and then fell asleep on the way home though and went straight to sleep in her cot when i got home,i think shes still catching up from the otherday!so not sure if shes not tired what it is,doesnt seem to be teeth cant see any but maybe there still annoying her!DH still has his cough(and dont we know about when there sick???)so was coughing all night!!I'll have to go up the chemist later and get him something so we can get some sleep tonight!!ok well ive had my lunch in peace,id better go and get some stuff done!
Hi Ladies!Just reading threw the latest posts, had the worst day ever i think yesterday, actually,Peach when I read your post it sounded exactly the same,Summer woke up feral so i knew straight away she hadnt enough sleep or something was wrong, well she had 1 hour sleep aain all day which is fine if thats all she wants if only she was happy i the meantime!I had no time to do anything!!She was miserable and crying and even screaming all day,off her bottles and the little bit of solids she has,but she was biting everything even the bottle teats etc and dribbling like mad so im not sure if theres a tooth coming,i went out for a drive and she actually fell asleep in car so when i got home i put her in her cot and she opened her eyes, saw she was going in her room and screamed again!i was so tired i thought it would be a bad night but i gave her a dose of panadol before bed and a nice bath and she was in bed by 7 obviously stuffed and slept till half 3 and went back to sleep and is still asleep thank goodness so i have a bit of sanity!!She drove me crazy yesterday!Poor thing she was soooo unhappy! Not sure if its all the excess dribble but her eczema has flared up awful again so could be that too.Sorry ladies to rave on!!
moose-Sorry im hopeless with the PM thing it always seems to get full!No worries about the cream, thanks for that!Wow youve been busy!So good about Sammy!
Blip-Bungers is a made up disease for people who you know bung it on a bit heeheee think there sicker than they are(like all men!).You poor thing with the dam club lock!Glad im not the only one acting like a ravin loony over things!I hate my hormones at the moment!!
Sterla_Glad Oliver slept better,I started Summer on solids earlier than i wanted to for the same reason, the health nurse said she was ready because she was sleeping through then woke up a few nights in a row about 4am,but saying that, she has some solids now and still last night woke at 3.30??!!I reckon go with your instinct too,you know him best and when you feel hes ready.Wow size 0!Big boy now hey?Summers not long been in 00 hehee but she is so long too that i dont think she'll last long either!
Peach-good for you on the clothe nappies!Hope your lump is ok,i had one years ago and they thought it was a cyst and it how weird is this would dissapear and then come back certain times of the month, they were going to drain it but it must of heard them talking beause it all of a sudden went on its own!It can make you worry though hey anything like That!
Hope ive answered to everything sorry if not,im trying to madly catch up with a few things before little miss is awake, boy i hope shes happier today!!
*Peach isnt here today she has been replaced by a sleep deprived zombie*
Blip- Thanks for sharing the recipie, I love baking cakes. Got the best book which Im sure Ive mentioned before? Bake by Womens weekly, its huge and even goes through the origins of baking.
PJ- Its hard when they wont sleep hey? Winter will be fine and all we have to do is walk into the room and she cries. Last night I was up 4 times and at 4am she screamed for an hour. Gave her panadol, fed her, rocked her... argh! DP escaped to the couch so he could attempt some sleep before having to get up at half six. Sounds like Summer might be teething... Pawpaw cream is good for a barrier against dribble on cheeks and chin and worth a try on the eczma too I reckon. Im hoping the lump goes away on its own too, Im terrified of the thought of anything piercing my precious boobie!!
Sterla- How are you and Oli?? How the house? I bet your stoked to have it all settled finally.
Thanks for that zombie peach, you poor thing, i know it sounds terrible but shes testing my patience today,i know shes tired,i gave her panadol fed her everything, she went to sleep then woke screaming because she in her cot little naughty girl!Ohwell she cried so long i melted and here she is with me not winging yet just talking away and that,i guess shes not tired after all
Peach: Aww, - I was there a few days ago with the sleep-deprivation. I think I mentioned it - how Oliver was up 4+ times a night for 5 nights straight. I barely remember those days (even though it was only a couple of days ago). I hope Winter sleeps better for you tonight and today so you can get some rest. OMG about the poo... something to look forward to! I've heard that teething can make poos pretty gross too - do you think it's just the banana, or teething aswell?
1PJ: Sorry to hear about your bad day with Summer. It does sound like teething, poor girl. I hope she's happier for you today.
***and can I just say how nice and funny I think it is that we have a Summer and a Winter in this group!
Blip: That's great about your MG. I'm really looking forward to when my MG gets to that stage and we all get to know each other better. Those muffins sound yummy!
AFM: Well, after that almost week of 4+ nightly wakings, the last few nights have been good. Last night was the best night I've had in ages! Oliver went down at 8.30pm, woke at 2am for a feed, then slept through till 7am! It was great. So, I'm really thinking now that it was just a growth spurt rather than him being ready for solids. Still, now I'm getting so excited (and impatient, lol) about starting him that I think DH and I are going to give him a little try on the weekend (with DH with video camera in hand!). I'm just telling myself that it's a test to see how his tongue reflex thing is going. We'll just give him some Farex and see how he goes . I'm sure I'll tell you all about how it went.
Also, I have officially decided to start converting to cloth... I had been toying with the idea for ages now, but I think you starting to use them has prompted me Peach . I should just go the cheap way with flats, but I can't help myself and am looking into MCNs. I already had a couple of Baby Beehinds that I bought when I was pregnant, but bought a few more yesterday, and am going to look online at all the fancy pretty ones that are out there. Because they last forever and I could use them with the next kid(s) I don't feel quite as bad about spending the money. I think I'm still going to stick with sposies for overnight though... so much easier not absolutely having to change Oliver in the middle of the night.
I just put Oliver down for a nap, and I'm starting to think he's developed a preference for his dummy brands, lol. His first dummies were Tommy Tippee, but we bought some Avent ones the other day, and while he sort of takes them, he usually ends up spitting them out... then I put a Tommy Tippee one in and he drifts off to sleep! Funny little guy.
Sorry for babbling on. Hope everyone is having a good day, and all our bubs are on their nicest behaviour .
Pj: haha that sounds about right! as much as i love my DH he suffers from manflu AND bunggers at the same time...next it will be selective defness as well...gotta love men-children dont you?
peach: yeah i have a womens weekly cook book...made the anzac bikkies...but typical of me changed it and ended up with peanut butter cookies :P oo if your eating brains try them crummed and sellow fried - they tast better that way (so i've been told) i hope it gets better for you!!
sterla: YaY for cloth. i tried daz in it for the first month...but no one knew how to fold them and he was such a wriggle bum...we ended up with "leeakages" so we went to sposies. i LOVE the pics of oli on FB! esp. the computer ones...that soo cute!
AFM: seeing DH at work today for his 'lunch' brake (at like 3pm?!) because of the guys got sacked...and he used to come into work when i first met DH...and all he *ever* used to say to me was (in a thick african accsent) "i'll have want hes having" he's a nice guy. i feel sorry for him because he and his wife where TTC, when she finaly fell she had a m/c at 17 or 18 weeks so it was hard for him being his first (and her third bub i think...) and but he's really good with daz when we see him...i'll miss seeing him...as shovanistic as he is...he's a good guy. (might even try and talk DH into going to see him proform at some point! ... if you google "king Bell" (with the aussie search only) he's the first link. then its off to my mum and dads place for dinner...and maybe even go down to the shopping center near them becuase i need some new tops and i want to get daz some more legless jump sutes (rather then singletts, they dont ride up!) and tomorrow im going out with a friend of DH's little sister (who turns 30 tomorrow too) but im not really looking forward to it - becuase it'll be just me and her, and possably her nef-u (sp?) and as lovely as she is...shes got about the same mental capasity of maybe a 17 year old? she's admitidly for bad epilispsi and other learning issues...i guess the epilipsi makes me a little :s beucase if she has a fit...well...i dont know what i'd do! but im hopeing that wont happen....but on the upside...i get to get out the house for the day...then start working out if/when DH, daz and I might get away...Ohh and i have a new nick name for daz..."bum" haha i call him 'cutie bum, snuggle bum cheeky bum" so i figer why not just call him bum and roll it all into one hahaha
i better go pack the nappy bag!
