Snowy - when are you coming to Oz?
Hi Jen, Welcome! Of course its ok if you join us, New mummas are always welcome!!!!!!
Teena, im happy to hear you had a great holiday. Bugger about Allegra and the jet-lag. I hope she settles back into a routine soon. It's so horrible when your luggage goes missing! I've been pretty lucky with mine, but my best friend had to wait 12 hours when we traveled to germany together. She had no clean clothes or anything like that with her, it was horrible for her. LUCKILY she got it back 12 hours later though. I hope the baby signing course went well. I'm starting with Ben soon. I would love to get some tips from you about starting if you dont mind sharing (maybe post handy ones in the signing thread you started).
Nadine - How frustrating about Kayla not opening her mouth. Your right though, she will do it when she is ready im sure. Ben isnt sitting alone either. He will sit only when propped up with support, without he only lasts about 5 seconds before he topples over!
Ben is just starting to lift his body off the floor, but only for a very short time. I dont know if im looking forward to him crawling or not!!!
OH, and we are moving AGAIN. Its a good thing though. We found a place in a nicer area. Its in a 2 family house, brand new. The other family is really nice, they have 2 girls who are 5 and 8. the place is much bigger, nicer, newer, better, brighter. With a huge backyard (shared), but it is full of new play equiptment (slides, swings, sandpit)... In a wonderful neighbourhood... BUT is about 50 metres from the in-laws. I suppose that is a good thing though, we are getting along really well now. We move in 2 months. Cant wait!
I hope this post finds you all well!!
Hello girls!
Teena - welcome back! Gee, I Hope your suitcase gets back to you. That's so annoying! I have lost my suitcase 3 times and once it was not returned. I was soooooooo upset. So fingers crossed (well, at least they know where it is, so that's a good sign)
We are coming to Oz on 19 November and will stay until the end of January (currently booked for 28th I think). It would be great to catch up!
Nadine, neither of my kids really open their mouth well.. with Wolf it was like threading a needle... and Zara has moments, where her tongue is down and I can get food in and other times there is no chance... give it time, practice and patience... :D
Katie - I hear you on moving again... our move is getting closer but the biggest problem is finding a quote that doesn't make me have a heartattack... the cheapest company so far is "Aussie man & van" ... not trying to be patriotic, but if they are the cheapest... hey? lol ... got another guy coming round for a quote who was recommended to me by a friend and I know she paid 1/3 of what I've been quoted by other companies, so hopefully I will get a quote close to hers (though I think in her case it was a bit of a family-deal... I hope some name dropping helps...)
Welcome to the Group, Jen! We have been a bit quiet recently... but hopefully that will pick up again!
Well, Zara is sick at the moment, snotty and fever and coughing.. so I guess just a cold... but she is sooooooooo cranky. The other night she woke up 7 times! I was so tired the next day! I hope she'll be better soon. It's so heartbreaking to see her sick :( poor munchkina.
Snowy
Aww, Hope Zara gets better soon, Snowy :(
Jen - forgive me for being so rude! Welcome to the Feb mummas... we are an excellent group :)
Snowy - love to catch up. I still have not seen Nadine and we have been trying to get together for 10 months!!!! Although you will be in Manly yes? Thats practically next door for me! My email is teenavescio@yahoo.com.au so email me your details and we can keep in touch and organise to meet up. I hope Zara feels better soon too - big kiss for her.
Katie - moving is a nightmare but moving closer to the in-laws will be good in the fact that they will be there to lend a hand and as you said you are getting on with them better these days so thats a bonus.
Hope everyone else is good. Cuddles from Allegra to all her buddies
On the bubba front. She is being a very good girl (apart from this afternoon when she is being a little sook! but she IS teething and regadless what Robin Barker says, Teething makes them irritable!!!) but she is such a cutie... I need to update photos but my online things sucks. If anyone wants to see a recent photo email me and I will email you a photo.
OK thats all from me, time for me to call an harass the arses from Airone and find out whats new with the luggage scenario. Ive already told them they will be getting a compensation claim from me...
Loveeeeeeeeee
me xx
Hi everyone, haven't been around for a long time now, when Harry and i went to visit my parents a couple of months ago we found out mum has fairly advanced cancer so it was all a huge shock and pretty devastating so we have been up there for a while, she is doing ok at the moment with chemo so just praying it works.
Harrison is doing great, not sure what he weighs now but over 9kg he started on solids at about 4.5months and absolutely loves his food, scoffs it down. We have farex for breakfast with bottle, fruit at morning tea with bottle, bottle in the afternoon and then dinner is vege and bottle, he sleeps from 7pm to 6:30am which is awesome. He finally rolled the other day at 6months lazy sod hehe no teeth yet but think they are close he has the odd day where he is just plain grumpy and chews and drools. He doesn't sit up on his own yet but does assisted, loves the bath etc etc basically he is great :)
Updated photos are in my link i think.
Sorry no personals i haven't read all the posts yet but hope everyone and all the beautiful bubs are doing wonderfully.
Cheers
Sarah
Hi there to all feb mums and bubs!
Sarah so sorry to hear about your mum:hug:
Well im glad to hear everyone is going along very well with bubs and welcome to jen.
Aiden is about 10kg now and going along very very well. he's eating 3 meals a day and have 4 bottles also. he loves munching on bread and biscuits and rusks for his teeth. still none yet but you can see his bottom 2 through his gum. he rolls occasionally, sits for a while and then topples over and adores his big sister to bits.
Zara has been completely toilet trained for about 4 months now. it makes life a lot easier having only 1 bum to change.
Ive just come about "babylove ECOBOTS" they are eco friendly nappies and only cost an extra $2 a packet. they are just as good as the others.
We are in the process of buying a couple of acres in town so zara can have her own zoo. so far on the list of her choice of animals are: goats, sheep, calves, alpacas, rabbits, another dog, another cat, more birds, horse and the list goes on. we will pretty much get all of these and maybe more i can't wait. lets hope aiden loves animals as much as zara. our house will take about 7 months to build so we should be in by next christmas.
And we have finally decided to definately try for #3 within the next year or so. i would love to have one around mid 2008.
Anybody else thinking about more?????
Take care narelle
Teena- Love to see a photo of your little Princess. I will email you :)
Sarah- Great to see you back. So sorry about your mum, I do hope the chemo works for her and that she gets better!!! {{{HUGS}}} :)
Narelle- Wow, how exciting, your own zoo, hehe :) Regarding TTC, we are going to wait till Kayla is atleast 18months old before we start trying for bub #2 (so I guess similar to you) :)
Hello everyone!
First of all - Sarah - I am so sorry to hear your mom has cancer. What kind is it? I hope the chemo works. That must have been such a shock to find out. :( Sending you a big hug and wishing you and your family lots of strength.
Wow at Harrison weighing 9kg and Aiden weighing 10!! Wolf weighed 8.4kg at that age and I thought that was big, but Zara seems to be 7kg or so - she is so skinny! I was hoping she would chub up with some solids but nope - not a single fat roll on her legs. But then again she is just always moving and kicking and rolling around. She is so mobile already! I think once she can crawl she will just be in everything! She is so grabby and so fast at it too.
Zara is doing a lot better health wise, still coughing though but no fever anymore, thankfully. Thanks for all the well wishes!
Teena - I sent you an email - so we can plan our meeting in summer! Nadine? Maybe you can make it too? That would be so great! Yep, we will be in Manly. We gave our tenants notice on the 31st, so we have 3 weeks to get our floors resanded and re-oiled and the place cleaned and our stuff moved back in (currently in ILs' basemen). I am so excited about claiming our house back! I am soooooo looking fwd to going back to Sydney for the summer (and escape 3 months of winter here in Europe).
Narelle - how cool that Zara is getting her own zoo! Wolf just loves animals - I would love to be able to do that for him... I guess we will have to come and visit :D. Some lady had this "handbag" dog with her the other day at the playground and Wolf just sat there for ages patting it.
re ttc: we also want another one in 2008. But currently don't really want to think about it - first I want to lose that gut I still have.... I have started running again last week, so hopefully that will help shift the last 5kg!
Development - Zara has been sitting up for exactly 1 month now (4 August). She can reach things from there and sit back up - it's really amazing. Wolf would try that and get stuck on the floor (must have been his big head and gut weighing him down). She has fruit/cereal for morning tea and veggies for dinner. She loves eating rice cakes but I don't give her bread anymore since it seems it makes her vomit... little gluten intolerance there at the moment... but then again she is barely 6 months old, so I'm not too worried ... will try again in a few weeks and hopefully she won't spew anymore after eating gluten-products. Zara has no teeth and I don't think she will get any for a while. I weaned Zara fully and she is fully on formula now.
We had my mom, sister-in-law and Wolf's cousins over (boy 2 yrs older than Wolf and girl same age as Wolf) and that was a lot of fun. He adores his older cousin and played with him lots n lots. The girl-cousin is just trouble... Wolf and her are just fighting over everything all the time (mine - mine ..) But she is very sweet with Zara ("baby!") and will give her cuddles and brings her the dummy. So sweet. Well, SIL is pregnant, so that bodes well :D
Snowy
Snowy- Glad to hear that Zara is doing better. Oh I would love to catch up with you and Teena when you come. Sarah, maybe your interested too?
hello everyone,
Ben is having his afternoon nap now, which normally lasts about 2 hours, so i finally have time to post.
So sad about Steve Irwin, isnt it? I wasnt a real "fan", but i was so shocked and actually very upset.
Snowy - Im glad Zara is doing better now, i hope she recovers quickly! We are pretty lucky with the moving thing. We dont have much stuff, BIL has a big covered trailer, and we are only moving a couple of km's away. but OMG, i just realised that when we move back to Oz in a few years, that will be such a huge job... Oh i dont want to think about it.
Sarah - I am so sorry to hear about your mum. Big hugs to you and your family. I am really hoping the chemo works for her
Narelle - WOW! Zara is so lucky, her very own Zoo. I would love to have some land in a few years with lots of Cows, Sheep and other animals.. But no horses, im definately not a horse fan. and Yes, Dh and i are thinking about another baby. Currently, our plan is "around" 2 years. We dont want too much of a gap between. But who knows what the future holds. Our plans are always roughly planned, very flexible. Everyone asks "What would you prefer with the next, girl or boy?" MIL is so determined to have a girl grandbaby that my usual answer to her is "Oh, i dont mind at all, another boy would be nice though!". Although, i will be "thinking pink" with the next one, i honestly wouldnt mind if it was another boy :) .
Ben is still doing well, sitting up skills are coming along nicely. he has both bottom teeth through, and now his two top teeth are making an entrance. As well as his 2 "K9" teeth. He doesnt seem to be bothered, heres hoping he wont have any problems.
Oh Sarah! I just looked at the new pics and Harry looks so much older than Ben! Soooooooo cute!!
I just had a look at the photos ... ooooooh, they are all so cute! I have got to change my link in my profile and make a new website with some photos.
Kaydee - I always thought that having 2 boys close together would be nice - but was also very happy about having a girl... so I know what you mean... I think 2 years is a great age difference. Wolf now at 21.5 months is becoming a little boy now and is actually trying to be nice to Zara. He was trying to feed her this morning several times (milk, juice, rice cake) and then took her on his little ride-on BMW and drove around with her in front of him. Such a good big brother!!!! :) It just melted my heart. Such a gorgeous sight!
Oh, I know about Steve Irwin - so sad. He made you cringe but now that he is gone it's just so sad. He was such a legend!
So you are planning to return to Oz? Any idea when? And whereabouts do you plan to live then?
Oh yes, let's have a big get together in Sydney!!! Is Manly a good place to meet for most? Unfortunately we don't have a car and I don't think I would dare to drive FIL's truck (plus I can barely find my way to harbour bridge... *blush*) - I could meet in CBD as well as I can take the ferry / jetcat from Manly.
Snowy
Hey, just a quick one.
Snowy, i think i might be going home for a few weeks (or months) next year (our Summer, their Winter). Just to see the family. Dh will be finished his Betriebswirt (and BA Business Management) in 2 years, he already has his Industriekaufmann (did i spell it right?), SO we might be moving back in 2 years. If not, maybe 4, so we will have enough time to really plan and save enough. So much to think about, Visas, what his qualifications are worth in Oz. Employment, Schooling... Hopefully when we do move back, we will live in Melbourne. HOPEFULLY, im such a Melbourne girl
Just a quick one.. Allegra has a cold and is teething so she was up for good parts of last night poor darling. She has never done that even as a small bubba - she must have been in pain. It seriously hurt me just holding her as she cried. She went to sleep about 2.30am and has been crying from about 11 on and off.
Good to her Ben is well Katie - He looks like such a big boy! Allegra is about 7.6kgs so average for her age I think.. perhaps a little under but not bad considering she was so tiny at birth.
Julia - Manly works for me. I have a car and can travel but only 1 carseat... otherwise I could have picked you up. Manly Wharf is wonderful now perhaps thats a good meeting spot?
Hope everyone is well
Loveeeeeeee
T and a Xx
Yesterday was an eye opener. I dont know if i mentioned this before, but i decided to give home daycare a shot (being the daycare, not sending Ben to daycare). Dhs young cousin (18) needed a "day mother" for her 6 week old boy, as she needs to go to school 2 days a week. So I quickly offered to look after him. After this i felt really guilty for Ben, as i knew he wouldnt get my full attention when the baby is here.
Yesterday she brought him (the baby) around for a little stay, 3 hours, he slept the whole time... But it brought back LOTS of memories of when Ben was that young. Bryan (the baby), has no routine yet, so she couldnt tell me when he would need a bottle, or if he would sleep. And to top it off, she didnt bring over anything at all, apart from a bottle. No nappies, no change of clothes... I only noticed after she left (in a hurry mind you). Luckily Bryan slept the whole way through after i wrapped him and set up Bens basinette for him, but im now wondering if i really should have offered to look after him.
Oh i dont know, im sure i will be ok. Ben is really easy to look after, and he easily plays alone and doesnt need much attention, so it shouldnt be a probem, I HOPE!
Katie- I am sure you will be fine. If at any stage you find you can't handle it or Ben seems distressed by it, just be honest and tell her. i am sure she will understand. And if she doesn't...tough.. ;)
hehe, thank you Nadine!
Just a quick one from me, basically just to push us back to the top of the page so we don't drop to page 2.
@ Teena
Great! Let's meet in Manly then!! :)
@ Katie
I can imagine looking after another bubba must be stressful! And how weird of the mom to forget half the things... arrrrrrrg...
Snowy
mummyof2boys, I have added your details to the front page for you
Thanks Sherie!
Hi everyone! :hello: I just noticed that Kas's baby, Liam Brock, has the same b'day as my son Henry! Wow, how exciting!:o
Hi everyone,
I hope you are all doing really well. We are doing good here, Ben's top right tooth is poking its head through. Ben is a little bit sooky, but he seems to be himself.
I've decided to keep looking after little Bryan. Ive had him about 4 times now, and havent had any problems. So now i look after him every thursday and friday from 7.30am until 1pm so his mummy can go to school.
I was a bit upset at the family last week though. They lie alot, i wont get into it, its too much to type, but i would rather them tell me the truth from the beginning rather than covering up everything.
Im STILL taking Ben to the physio. He has problems with his back now. Nothing serious, but its better to correct it while he is still a bub.
You know, ive totally forgotten what i was going to post!! Agh!
Oh right, thats what i wanted to write.
The other day, we went to Dhs parents for lunch. Whilst we were eating Ben was playing happily on the floor. He was due his solid feed, but didnt seemed bothered, so we thought we would eat first, and then Ben can eat after us. ANYWAY, Dh and i were deep in a conversation together, and Oma brings out dessert. Which was home made vanilla pudding with chocolate shavings through it. She then picked up Ben, put him on her lap, and casually started feeding ben the pudding!! I was really shocked! She was doing this right in front of us. I didnt know what to say, so i shoved Dh to tell her off. He said "maybe thats not a good idea Oma", she ignored him. He said "it has cows milk in it, doesnt it?" and she said "Yes". He said "Babies arent allowed cows milk", she then went on "oh yes they are, its good for them" blah blah. He then said "Dont give him that he will get a sweet tooth", She says "oh, just one more spoon".
This might not seem like a huge deal. But i was so angry. Angry at her, but also at myself, i was too shy and shocked to say something. Plus, he was due his veges, and after that i was anxious he would refuse them. We often leave Ben with Oma, and we tell her over and over "no sugar, so fat, no salt", just give him what we give you to give him. But i always hear little comments from other members of the family "Oh, ben tried my Joghurt, he loved it!" "Just put a bit of butter in his food". I hate it how they just ignore what i say and do what they think is "right". They are no talking about giving him Liver wurst, "You should try giving him liverwurst".
When i was in hospital for a week, and they looked after him, he looked so unhealthy, his skin was all blemished and his hair greasy, he was grumpy all the time...
Ok, so my point it. If Oma will feed him pudding right in front of us, im so scared about what she is giving him when we arent there. You just cant get through to them. Oh it makes me angry just thinking about it.
Katie- GRRRR...that would make me so mad too. I wouldn't want to be leaving him with them... is that an option for you, or are they the only ones around you that can look after Ben?
Hi everyone!!
Welcome to the group Taria!
Oh Katie - I can imagine you must have been steaming!! No matter what they/one think/s (e.g. I do give Zara a cereal made with cows milk, but not cows milk as a drink, I put fat (usually oil) in Zara's vegetables - which babies actually need, they have a high need for fat, much higher than grown-ups) - it's just wrong that they don't listen to what you are saying. You are his mom and they should really respect your requests. Having said that... I think Omas are like that. My mom keeps feeding my son chocolate all the time and does it to my brother's kids too - I am amazed my SIL has not killed my mom yet. Also, that generation grew up giving babies solids really early and was not aware of allergy risks and the like. Not trying to defend them - just trying to maybe explain a bit... I know it's very frustrating when other people interfere with your parenting and I certainly would have said something if I were you (though I know it's a lot harder telling your ILs off vs. telling your own parents off). Just take it as a lesson not to leave your son with them for meals (or any long periods really) unsupervised as they apparently cannot be trusted to take your instructions, since they blatantly ignore them right in front of you! Sending you a big hug  ... in-laws, hey?
Speaking of which... mine still drive me bonkers... MIL let out some rude comment the other day re. our lovely nanny. They still haven't gotten over the fact that we are bringing her with us to Oz and they certainly don't agree with her working for us in general. It's really frustrating. MIL made some remarks re. her not being smart enought for her grandson or something and that she didn't want our nanny "teaching" him stuff / bad grammar while we work... something rather.. arrrg, it's just so rude. What are we supposed to do? We have a business to run and it's not like we have family around to help and I rather have a nanny in my house than give my kid to child care where he/she is one of a bunch and doesn't get as much attention as he does with our nanny. And it's not like I palm off my kids to her all day - I work a few hours and the rest of the time the four of us go to the park and each kid has a grown up to supervise/play with. For us it's perfect because I get to work and I get to give each kid attention and don't have to feel so torn about dividing my attention between kids/work/household/hobbies.
Anyway ... I better shut up or I'll go on about it forever...
We have been such a quiet bunch in here, huh? I hope everone is well (I take the lack of posts as a good sign :D - I am sure if something was wrong, people would post)
Well, what's there to report from this end? No teeth yet for Zara but very good at munching on all sorts of things. I have made a bit of a point of giving her a bit "lumpy" food because her brother has been so useless with eating real "solids" (vs. purees) and she happily chomps on all sorts of things. I tried a bit of mince for the first time yesterday. She did not seem a big fan. She does eat whole peas and rice grains - so funny. She even manages to put the little peas one by one in her mouth ! It's so cute! And she is so proud. She loves drinking from a glass and gets all excited when I raise it to her lips and she kicks around so much, I can barely get the glass to her without spilling water everywhere. She is really good at drinking. Wolf kept leaving his mouth open and the water would run back out but she can actually drink and keep it inside :)
Next week we will have Zara weighed and measured - I would guess she is around 71cm or so and weighs around 7kg but I could be wrong. She is very tall and skinny and people keep commenting on it. We'll see...
Zara also tries to crawl. So far she manages to go round and round and backwards commando style. I think she is not far off from starting to go forward. Clever princess!
Well, we are moving in less than a week. I am packing frantically - it's a good exercise really... keeps a streamlined household, he he
Snowy
Katie i would have been so mad, when we went to visit rellies they wanted to give H a chip and gravy wtf? I wouldn't want them looking after him either if they completely ignore your instructions!
Snowy - Zara sounds so cute eating the peas, i've been trying to make Harry's slighgtly less pureed lately so he gets used to chewing etc.
We are doing great, H is in a great routine at the moment, sleeping well, i'm just hoping it lasts.
He loves his solids eats everything this morning he had weatbix, morning tea is apple and orange pureed and then dinner is carrot, pumpkin, potato and beef today, i try and give him some variety but there is only so much.
He said his first word Dada the other week which was dissapointing it wasn't mama but then a week later he said Mama and now he hasn't stopped its mama all the time so cute, he rolls constantly, a lot of time now at night he sleeps on his belly can't keep him on his back these days, still no teeth and not really been any signs of them either and no sitting up yet can for a few seconds but thats all.
We are moving to brisbane in a couple of months which will be great closer to my mum, she wasn't so well again on the weekend and was back in hospital, its so hard been this far away from her.
Went and bought a few more summer clothes for H it has been so hot here, i've just been putting him in a singlet and shorts!!
Hope everyone and the babes are doing well, i'm going to try and get more time here again :)
Have to go change the poopy nappy and dress him for the day, take care!!
Hi everyone,
re: food. Dh and I both had weight problems when we were children, so i think im really focused on not giving ben sweet or fatty things until necessary. But I think that i was more upset at Dhs family ignoring our (actually, its more my) wishes than the actual food itself. And im scared to what they get up to when we arent around "what mummy doesnt know, wont hurt".
they take great care of Ben, and he loves spending time with them, so i wouldnt even think about not letting them look after him.
Anyway, in other news, Ben has started to crawl! Not 100% proplery yet, but he can get from point A to point B very easily. His top right tooth is all the way through, and the top left is half way there. So now he has 3 1/2 teeth.
He is having 1 - 2 solid meals per day, as well as 2 full bottles, and 1-2 half bottles (depending if he is full). Still sleeping really well (from 7pm until around 7-8am), with 2 naps per day (morning and afternoon). Still taking him to physio twice per week, i think we have about 6 more sessions to go.
Wilson - that is so cute with Harry's first word! Ben loves talking, but we cant make out any words yet. Im sure he says "hi" and "hello" already though.
Snowy - how horrible, doesnt your MIL have anything better to do than go on about your nanny and her bad grammar?
Ben loves drinking from cups too, he is always trying to steal mine. He loves his sippy cups aswell.
I better go and make my lunch, my tummy is rumbling.
Hello girls!
Just a quick post to say we are now in Switzerland! the place is a mess - boxes everywhere... but it's a start... went for a bit of exploring this a.m. I must say it's really nice to wake up and look out over a lake rather than at the concrete courtyard... lol. It's soooooo green here... we walked past cows and goats this a.m. and Wolf was so excited!
Zara is doing well - we had her weighed and measured on Saturday. She is 72.5cm and 7.3kg which makes her very tall but underweight. The doctor made some comments about it but it's not like I'm not giving her plenty of food and she is happy and very lively, so I think it's just the way she is... I was nevertheless so preoccuiped thinking about her comments, that I ran our beamer into a pole... scraped the side just above the wheel... luckily DH just sighed... it's not too bad a scratch but I couldn't believe I was so preoccupied with those comments... The doc said something about giving her some drops to increase her appetite but I think that's just silly. Anyway... other than that, all is well. Zara is soooooooooo close to crawling. She is pushing her bum up and doing the wobbling on her knees and hands thing... oh not long.. .and then nothing willbe safe :D
Snowy
snowy, i hope everything went smoothly with your move. It sounds lovely where you are now. Dont worry about what the doctor says, you know your daughter more than anyone. OH no about your car. My hubby would have never let me forget it if i did that to our car, but he cant talk, im a better driver than he is, and HE is the one that is often having little "accidents", not me (touch wood).
Ben is loving his new mobility. He gets into EVERYTHING. I think we need to buy a new TV cabinet because the one we have now is all open, and he is forever pulling apart everything. His favorite toy is the remote control at the moment.
Ben's Physio appointments are getting harder and harder every time. Ben is just so strong I cant do the exercises by myself at home... I think we only have 5 more to go now, i cant wait until it's all over! Which reminds me, we have one today, NOT looking forward to that!
I hope you are all happy and healthy!
Snowy- Glad your move went smoothly. I bet it's so lovely where you are. That's the only thing I miss, the nice green grass and just the greenary in general. It can look so dry here at times. Bummer about the car.
Katie- Aww {{{HUGS}}}. What do they do at the physio?
Us- Kayla is doing well. She is now sleeping through the night. She goes down at 7pm (DH gets her up for a dreamfeed at around 10:30pm) and she sleeps till 6am. Although lately it's been 5am, but we just rewrap her and don't get her up till 6am for her feed.
She is eating her veges now at dinner time. We are still working on breakfast. She sits very well now, and doesn't topple over anymore, and she is also cutting her first tooth :)
So it's all happening here. My little girl is growing up soooo quickly.
Just saw Mbear posted in a different forum today, I wonder how she is going? MBEAR, if you read this, post and tell us how you are!!
Nadine - At the physio Ben needs to do a range of things. He hates it mainly because he cant move, not because it hurts. I dont know how to explain what we have to do! Its mostly about getting his muscles into the right places and strengthen them... Because he had a "flat head" from favouring one side, that seemed to effect his back and neck muscles, making his spine curve a little. Its not a major problem, but better we fix it while he is young.
Im so tired today, i dont know why! Tomorrow we are going away for the night to Bremen. Im looking forward to it, but MIL is coming. So I hope everything turns out ok, and that we dont have any problems.
Oh - have fun in Bremen - Katie - it's beautiful there. I had a boyfriend there some years ago and went there often.
Yes, it's very green here, Nadine. And I love being able to look outside and see trees and grass and the lake and the air smells so much better here than in london... At the supermarket they sell "Heidi Milk" and i have been a sucker and have been buying it, ha ha!
Yeah on Kayla's first tooth!!
And yeah on Kayla sleeping through! Zara has been sleeping through as well. She had this phase where she woke around 3-4 a.m. SCREAMING until I fed her but recently she has been sleeping through and wakes at 7 a.m. all happy and playful!
Not long till we go to Oz now... so looking forward to it!! I hope we can really all meet up in Sydney!!
Apparently we have quite a few kids here in our complex. I met one mom with a 24 month old, which is nice and she said that there are more kids between 0 and 3 years here, so that's good to know. She also recommended to go to Gymboree, so I might give that a try next week. I was thinking of going to the music gymboree with Zara and the Arts one with Wolf. Are you doing anything with your kids in terms of "organised activities" / playgroups?
Snowy
Thanks snowy, i did have a good time in Bremen. It is a beautiful city. So clean aswell! We stayed at Innside, next to the Space Park. Such a shame its closed... But it was absolutely wonderful to walk along the river with no soul in sight.
We arent doing anything with ben at the moment. But i'll keep my eye out for something for us. Dh wants to take Ben to swimming classes soon.. I am too self-conscience to even THINK about getting into a bathing suit (havent been swimming for at least 4 or 5 years now). We will see how things go with that.
We are due to go to yet another physio appointment today and i am SOOOOOO TIRED! I feel like im getting the flu, i can hardly keep my eyes open. I hope its only due to all the walking i did on the weekend.
oops, i just realised we need to leave in 20 minutes and Ben is due a feed before we go. take care everyone!!
Hello everyone!
So much been happening - Allegra got another tooth the other day and she is kind of crawling. She loves saying dadda but not mumma too much - cheeky little thing!
Mothers Group is on today and we have such nice mums - its great to get together and have a laugh and talk about non baby things
Oops better go Allegra is crying!
hahahah Allegra crys to crawl and gets lazy and gives up! she is happier trying to stand and walk.. who knows she might skip crawling.
Its so hot in Sydney today.. I'l lucky I have things from overseas that we wore when it was hot that Allegra still fit into... she looks so cute in her summer dresses.
Hope all is well... much love
T
Teena- LOL, Kayla doesn't even try to crawl yet. Lays on her tummy and swims, hehehe. But she loves sitting and standing (when we hold her hands) and she also walks when I hold her hands and walk along with her.
Kayla got her first tooth last week and her second one is starting to come through. She was so good. I was expecting a night of lots of wake ups, but nup. I just happened to spot it last week and it had just cut through the gum :D
We are trying to sort out a new routine for her now. ECHN said that we should start giving her solids before her milk feeds now. That's fine and all but she seems to be waking around 5:30am and I think that's a tad early to be giving her solids........
We only just dropped her dreamfeed of a night and she was fine. She has slept through 3 nights in a row now :D But because we dropped her feed (nurses suggestion), ECHN suggested to change her feed times to 7,11,3,7 instead of 6,10,2,6.
What are your bubbas routines (if you have one)?
Nadine - Allegra gets a feed when she wakes (around 6ish) and had her breakfast at 7.30and then with lunch (which is at 12) she has water. She has her milk either before or after lunch sleep (depending on the day and how much she ate) and then she has dinner at 6pm, a bath, bottle at 6.30 and then bed around 7pm.
Allegra is having 3 milk feeds a day not 4 now but she is a little older too. If she wants a little snack I do offer her a 100ml bottle and some custard. Especially on days when she doesnt eat much.
It does change a bit. Allegra has been sleeping good. Last night she woke up screaming at middnight. I think she was dreaming or something. I picked her up and she was still upset poor darling. I have her a cuddle and then back into bed and she slept until 7 this morning.
When I went into her room she was sleeping on her stomach and had done a 360 turn in the cot.. she is getting so active in her sleep now!
Thankyou Teena for that :) Does she only have one sleep a day now? I think kayla is wenaing herself off three and is heading towards two a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon).
Yes I was thinking about cutting out another bottle, but might wait till we have the new routine sorted. Perhaps another couple of weeks or so. How much milk does Allegra have per feed? Kayla only has 160-180ml. Even when we cut her bottles from 6 to 5 then to 4 a day, she still took the same amount per feed (not more). But she is healthy and taking what she needs I guess.
We had her weighed on Tuesday and she is 9.255kg clothed and 74cm long. Yes we have a tall girl, LOL :D
Hi Nadine,
Allegra usually has 2 sleeps. I prefer her to do down around 9ish for about an hour and a bit and then around 1 for a sleep.
Sometimes she does have three and other times she has one - depending on her mood!
HELLO EVERYONE!!!
Sorry i haven't posted for a while. Mum and Dad have been away for 3 months and i've been working full-time out their business. Lucky the office is at their house so the kids just play all day.
Aiden's routine is like this...
Wakes around 7.30am, has a bottle at 8am (240mls), breakfast at 9ish, plays until 11 ish, sleeps for 1/2 - 1 hour, then lunch about 12.30 ish, plays another bottle (180mls) around 2.30-3pm, sleeps for about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs, plays, bottle 180mls) around 5pm, plays, dinner 6.30-7pm, then bottle (180mls) and bed at 8 ish. And he gets bathed in the afternoon and other times it is at night which ever i have time for.
I hope everyone is well. I will get back on soon to chat more.
take care
