HI girls :hello:
Just a quick one,
MG - I had gallstones 1 month after having Madeleine... I was told it is actually very common after having a baby, or after being on the pill for years, as it has to do with the hormones?
Anyway... The infection is most likely due to your gall bladder being enlarged. I had my gallstones and had to wait 6 months for an operation... it was horrible... the surgeon only did it because a few of the nurses in emergency complained that he was taking it too lightly (I was a public patient) and not realising how much pain I was actually in... and how much bonding I was missing out on with Maddy
I would have attacks every week at least, some making me stay in the hospital for up to 4 days with jaundice... others, I would have a shot of pethadine, and be on my way 4 hrs later. I was on a low fat diet... I couldn't tolerate more than 10g of fat per day... in the end, stress would make me have an attack.
I had the operation and felt instant relief as Lil mentioned... I do regret it in a way, because I put major weight on afterwards (40+kgs) and it has been sooooo much harder to shift weight since.
My sister put on weight after her op too, but she has lost it and kept it all off... she suffered with her stones for 1 month, she got them after having my nephew Jack.
I'm wishing you all the best MG, and I hope that something gets done for you soon
-
Just a quick update girls. My GP has told me I *have* to see the surgeon next week and have my gall bladder out and to see what he says about the spleen. I was really hoping I wouldn't need to have surgery... PLEASE don't tell me weight gain is the norm after this surgery! I already have about 20Kg to lose!!!!! Lil, that was how my pain was as well. Like someone had put a rubber band around me and was squeezing hard. And if anyone touched me - lookout! Lisa, pethadine was my best friend on the weekend! I've had a couple of MILD attacks since and have been able to control them with voltaren tablets and stemetil. But because I've only had very mild attacks since, I guess I was hoping it was all nothing and I could get away with no surgery. THis is going to blow my chances of getting into the ADF - especially if I can't shake the weight! Phooey! Ok, enough whinging.
Sorry for lack of personals but it is great to hear you are all doing well. Lil - my DH could sympathise with yours - he actually commented on it the other day...
Love MG
-
MG,
I think it might be one of those things that affect people differently though... I have a best friend and an Aunt who have controlled their gall stones through diet... my BF only has a few stones, and my Aunt has one almost as big as a Ping Pong ball and one small one... both my BF and my Aunt are tiny now!!! They were both bigger girls (sz 20 and 24) now they would both be size 10! I wish mine were mild enough to have controlled through diet alone!!!

Hi Ladies,
Just thought I'd introduce myself!!!!

Looking forward to talking with you all!

Hi all and welcome Jayne and kittykat.
After a very busy weekend we're now back with questions!
How do you class a baby as having outgrown clothes? DS shows ankles and wrists (calves and lower arms if he wriggles) in 000 size clothes, 00 doesn't cover his hands/feet totally... should I just keep him in 00 size at 7w old? I can only just do up his dungarees/vests with a cloth bum, but in a disposable it's easier.
Is it normal for a reflux baby to possett out his nose? And how do I stop him eating his possett if I don't realise he's done it until I see him chewing on his bib?
Ta! Hugs to all and special get-well-soon vibes to MG.
-
Welcome Jayne and KK!
Ryn - I think it depends on various things as to when you would class clothes as being too small now... but being winter over there, if his wrists are showing you might like a bigger size if you're worried about warmth? My criteria are:
Can I do it up?
Does it dig in?
Are foot spaces too small? (coveralls)
Is it choking her?
Does it make her uncomfortable?
Does it just look plain stupid being up around the elbows and knees? ;)
Is it too tight?
With Abbey, it is normally her legs that outgrow things first, if she has to bend her knees to fit in, it is too small!!!
I can't help with the other question, sorry.
Well girls, Abbey is now smiling so much more! And when she finds things amusing! WOOHOO! The cheeky monkey likes to give me huge smiles when I try to put the bottle in her mouth... or put her to bed - she thinks I'll stop and play! ROFL.
I have my appointment with the surgeon this morning so will come back later and let you know how I go... in the meantime, I have to go drag DH's lazy backside out of bed. I've already fed and changed miss, done a load of washing, washed and sterilised her bottles, packed the nappy bag, collected together my paperwork for my appointment and had breakfast. All in just over an hour... Hmmmmmm.......
-
Hi everyone. Welcome to all newbies to the thread and I hope that you're all getting plenty of sleep like I am! MG, I hope everything goes well at the surgeon. As if bringing home a new bub wasn't enough to deal with.
I am soooo happy! Bella is actually ASLEEP right now in the DAY TIME! I can't believe it! It's taken many weeks, but I just checked her to make sure and yes, she is actually sleeping! Woo hoooo!
We bought her a cot a few weeks ago, although she's still sleeping in the basinette. My change table goes across the top of the cot and whenever I change her she looks out the window - she seems fascinated with whatever's out there (the neighbour's fence and a few bushes!). Because of that I figured she'd be ok if I put her in the cot during the day, because she can still see out the window and it will get her used to the cot for when the big day comes for when she goes into her own room (soon - she's getting too big for the basinette).
Over the last week or so that's what I've done. When I put her in there, she stares out the window for a while then starts crying when she gets bored. Today however, she actually fell asleep!
AND she's still sleeping every night for around 9-10 hours at a time. What a beautiful little angel!
I start doing work from home in a few weeks, so this couldn't have happened at a better time. I might actually get some work done!
Bella's booked in for her needles next week. I am not looking forward to that and I'm making Bri (DD #1) come with me - I don't want to have to deal with that alone! These days they have THREE needles! If only they could put the vaccine into one.
Are those of you nearing the 8 week mark starting to dread this event too?
-
Hi Ladies,
MICHELLE _ Good job on getting Bella to sleep during the day, I haven't read through all these posts before I joined so I'm assuming that day sleeping is an issue atm. I'm glad to hear she is giving you a good stint at night time so you can rest. I know it's tiring having a newborn up for hours on end during the day. I'm starting to panic about the needles already & Claudia is only 5.5 weeks. Please let us know how they go, I'm terrified. When Jess was immunised at 12 months, she spent 5 days in hospital. They tell me over & over & over again it wasn't immunisation-related, but you can't help but connect the dots. They still to this day won't tell me what she said (go figure?), but they said she had an infection enter her blood stream & the reason it showed up was because her body got busy fighting the immunisation. :(
MG _ Oh yes, you have a cheeky monkey alright, already trying to distract you from putting her to bed with those big gummy smiles! LOL. They have so much stuff figured out at such a young age!
RYN _ Claudia is outgrowing clothes at a rate I can't keep up with & it's breaking my heart. 0000 are getting a bit snug & 000 wondersuits are getting snug too. I always find that my babies outgrow bonds clothes in the legs wayyyyyyy before they're too tight anywhere else. I wonder if anybody else finds this? I generally think, if they can't stretch out properly, it's too small.
KITTYKAT _ Oh yep, Jessica is definitely split personalities. One minute she has a halo shining around her head & the next minute it's fallen down around her neck choking her! LOL. on the whole she is generally pretty well-behaved, but I have to remind myself when she's acting out of line that she is 2 & that's what she's meant to do at this age. She is perfectly well behaved & right up with the manners when she is with somebody else so that's all I ask.
Big hello's to every one else!!
Love Jayne xox

Hi Girls,
Michelle - WOOHOO for daytime sleeps!
Jayne and Michelle, I can understand how you're feeling about the immuisations. I used to give them to babies and it broke my heart to hear them scream! I've already told DH that it is his task to take DD to get them. I can handle giving them to someone else's babe but I don't know about watching my babe get them!
Ok girls, my appointment with the surgeon didn't go too bad. He was lovely. But I'm booked in for the 19th of April to have my gallbladder out :( I was hoping he would let me off the hook! Funny thing is though, another friend of mine is having hers out and her babe is 5 months and another friend needs her out (but she hasn't had any babies)! So we might have to form a little club! ROFL. The surgeon assured me I would be able to look after Abbey without any problems after the surgery but that DH needs to still take a couple of days off to help. So because the surgeon said that he is actually taking two days off! WOOHOO! I will have 4 days with him because the surgery is on a Thursday! WOOHOO! Small things hey?
Better dash - miss wants a feed....
MG

Hi everyone :hello:
Welcome Jayne and KittyKat
Well, Harrison had his immunisations done today... the nurse was lovely... he has a son named Harrison too, and I actually used to work with his wife (small world)
Harrison did not like his needles at all... his face reddened up and he screamed... OMG, it was heartbreaking!!! I have never heard a sound like that come out of him... the best part was where I had to sit with him for 10mins, so I put him to my breast and reassured him it was all for the best. He is sleeping atm...I had a nap with him earlier, he really just needed hugs.
Wishing you all the best for your bubbas when they have their needles. (It is only 2, they put 6 in one these days, no more polio on a spoon either.)
I'd best run... Harry is crying... I will do personals asap.
:grouphug:
-
LISA _ Hugs to you & Harrison sweetness. I'm glad that he is calmed down now after the needles. You girls are scaring me! I used to be in a cold sweat the whole night before having Jessica immunised & then after her scare with the 12 month ones, I didn't immunise her for Chicken Pox until she was almost 2 & that was only because we were going on holidays & my niece had Chicken Pox so I didn't want her to get them & have to cancel the holiday. I had to feed Claudia during her heal stab test in the hospital & the m/w told me they are trying to bring it in that you feed the babies during the immunisation because there is a study being conducted that can prove that a hormone is released from mother to baby that numbs pain for them. I have to say, it made sense because Claudia never flinched the whole time while she was having the guthrie test & she ended up dropping off to sleep as well! I'm hoping that I can feed Claudia during her immunisations, I'm pretty sure my Dr will be in on that too because she is a retired m/w.
Give Harrison lots of cuddles! His ticker pic is absolutely gorge! You make beautiful babies!
-
Not looking forwards to the immunisations here, although DS has been great with needles so far, just not when blood is squeezed out, so I'm hoping he stays fine. I like injectons so I'm going to spoil DS rotten after the jab so he has good associations.
Well, yesterday the vest neck was gaping on DS, it was showing under his top, his ankles were on show and he just wasn't comfortable. The day before the dungarees were cutting into his nappy, so he's now in 00 and happy. Good thing too as he's almost filling the 00 sleepsuit! He's also in 1 year old socks (bit loose), as all the others are too small. He's one big boy! He's not dressed yet as I put him in his size 0 towelling robe so I could shower and he looks too cute! So happy I had to roll up the sleeves on that. Hope these clothes last longer that four weeks - he was just 16 days in size 0000, four weeks in 000, how long in 00?
We still have sleeping fun, DS is disliking daytime sleeps unless he's on me atm - he won't go into his crib, that wakes him up. He did 9-12 in the crib last night, then wanted feeds at 12, 2 and 6, then up for the day at 7.30 (didn't want feed), so that was good. Michelle, yay that your sleeping troubles are getting sorted!
Best of luck for your op, MG, and yay you get 4 days with your DH. I have 5 with mine this weekend, only he's playing on his car for three of them, so I'm not exactly happy. Extra work for me and no time off!
I have to agree with Jayne about the ticker pics - all the babies are too cute!
-
A quick woo-hoo from me.
Last night: DS bathed and ready for bed at 8.30 asleep at 10, up at 2 for a feed, feed and nappy change at 5.40, then he wanted to play so at 6am back IN HIS OWN BED WIDE AWAKE... and he went back to sleep while I slept! He did pull his cover over his head, but is such a noisy wiggle bum I knew he was OK when I woke up. He then slept until 9am. I'm so proud of my little man, I got loads of sleep!
-
Awww... thanks so much Jayne
Well, Harry is much brighter today. He had his 6-8 week check up today (postponed as he had a paed appt and check up when he was 6 weeks)
Well... he is thriving which is great... if only he would gain weight more!!! He only gained 70g in 6 days which is in the bottom percent but still a gain... the Paed made a note that Harrison is genetically small, so must be taking after his Daddy and big siblings... tall and skinny!!! lol
If he took after me, there would be no probs gaining weight!
I passed the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression test thingy... I scored a 3. The ECHN told me that most women would score around 3, even if they haven't had a baby!
So, all seems well here atm.
I hope everyone has a fantastic Easter :):happyforyou:

hey ladies!!
woo hooo - i finally made it on here!
got the internet connected at home last week, so hope to get time to chat to you ladies regularly. haven't had time to catch up on all your posts, but did read that Quinn is sleeping 7 - 9 hours!! - i've very jealous kirsten - any tips?! my golden pig sleeps usually 4hours, then 3 hours during night, with maybe one 3 hour sleep during the day if i'm lucky. my older son was a wonderful sleeper, so i expected cam would be too, but not to be. i'm really good now though, i actually get out of bed with cam, and feed and change him etc during the night - with brad i used to put him in bed with me, put him on breast, and go straight back to sleep. too worried to do that now with cam.
cam is just gorgeous, and has put on heaps of weight - he's just over 6kg now. thoroughly enjoying my new little guy. his big brother and dad are also totally besotted with him. cam adores his big brother, and saves most of his smiles for him - loves hanging out in his room, looking at all brad's car posters. he'll be another holden boy - even though dad thinks he'll be a ford boy!
nursery nearly finished!! - not before time!! cam really too big for bassinette now, so be good to put him in cot. are any of your bubs in cots yet?
hope you are all enjoying your bubs, and look forward to catching up with everyone,
(my ticker isn't working - what do i do??
-
Anne,
Just add [url] to the beginning of what you have there... it should work ;)
Great to have you back Anne :) Good to hear that Cam is doing well.
-
Helllo Helllo Hello!
I was thinking about you the other day anne wondering how you were going! I cant believe you are only just getting nursery done now! I annoyed my hubby no end making sure it was ready heaps before Jemima was born! I am ready to try her in the cot but have to wait until we get the baby monitor (finally won one on ebay half price!) because we have double brick walls so you cant hear anything once you leave one room to the other.... BUT I think Benji likes having his little girl in the room with us in the bassinette and she is definately getting too big for bassinette you can hear her little hands hitting the sides everytime she moves!
But as she is SLEEPING THROUGH every night 9 until 5.30 I dont have to get up to her so there is no reason not to have her in the other room.... I dont know why she is sleeping through she did it all by herself a week or so ago... she is superbaby (love she is superbaby makes me look like supermummy hehehe)
My neighbour had a baby girl last week, so Jemima has a playmate for as long as we live here so that is so awesome.
I think I will have 4 babies born within 2 months of eachother for Jemima to play with so I dont mind so much I am definately not putting her in childcare as some people have made me feel bad about her missing out on socialisation by not going.... but as soon as she has her needles I am looking into swimming lessons and things like that so she'll be fine... she already has a boyfriend Joseph (the boy born on same day as her that benji ran into father of - hadnt seen for 6 years - in labour ward) and she has her cousin Hannah born the week before and she now has Emily born 6 weeks later and another friend of mine is having a girl (Rhianna) due end of the month!
I am so lucky to be surronded by those Mums as well, I think Joseph and Emily's Mums are the only ones going back to work I think Sister in law and other friend are staying at home for ages.
I hear that breastfeeding is like a contraceptive.... how much of a contraceptive?? Benji and I want to get pregnant again now... but I dont want to have to stop breastfeeding, so is there anything I can do to decrease the contraception of breastfeeding?
-
hey girls
kelly: you are awesome! - took me 14 years to be brave enough to have my second, and you want your second after 8 weeks! how excellent jemima sleeping through - and yes, that does make you a brilliant mumma!! i agree jemima will be fine without childcare. i'm abit dubious about how good breastfeeding is as contraceptive - i've heard of women getting pregnant while feeding. both my sons were conceived using condoms, so i'm a bit dubious all round!! yes, i've been VERY patient i think re nursery!! its just airing now, after being painted last week. i asked DH to leave it empty until it airs sufficiently - but everyday he puts more stuff in there - he's driving me nuts - he doens't worry at all about trying to have a chemical free area for bubs. how long do you girls think is long enough for the room to air?
lisa: hey lady! thanks for advice re mags - you are right - there are plenty of girls in the car mags! your bub is gorgeous - isn't his hair lovely - i think he looks like his dad.
ryn: your bub is lovely too - and he looks heaps like his dad. i still haven't done the ticker properly?
i'm still trying to catch up on all your posts and pictures. want to ask heaps of questions about your birth experiences, etc, but don't want you to have to repeat everything you've probably already been discussing in my absence. was anyone like me, in that they found labour unbearable??
must get some washing done while bub asleep.
-
Kell - You could comp feed with formula 2 bottles per day if you're wanting to have another baby... I'm not sure how much of a contraceptive BF is... I got AF, then I didn't... I was due for AF last weekend... I freaked out because I have had it, so did a test that came up neg (thankfully!) just to be sure... apparently it was all because of Harrys tongue tie.
Rob and I would looooove another baby... but, we are going to decide at Xmas time... just to give my poor body a break, othewise I would be having 3 pregnancies in under 2 yrs - not good for my poor ol pubic bone!!! lol
Good Luck Kell.... great to hear that Jemima is a superbub. Great to see you around too... I was actually thinking about you earlier today
Anne - Sorry, but I was actually shocked at how much easier labour was with Harry!!! I was expecting the excruciating contractions that I had with the others, but they never came thankfully.
I have written up my birth experience if you would like to read it... I will find the link for you soon. Harry is falling asleep in my arms as I am trying to type! lol
-
I dont know about brave, a little bit silly but Benji wants his kids to be really close in age so if we get pregnant soon Jemima will be just over 12 months I think when bub is born... my car will be pushing it fitting two little ones in there but as long as Jem is likes the pram, the new bub can be in the pouch so I wouldnt have to have a double pram in there.... that's if I can manage leaving house with two little ones... it is exciting to think about.... I dont want to do any formula feeds though so I guess it is just wait and see... I've been thinking that my grandparents wouldnt have done formula and they had 5 kids under 5 so maybe I'll be lucky and fall pregnant soon or maybe I'll just have to wait until I'm feeding Jem less breast and solids or something....
I cant believe she was sleeping through at 6 weeks! Must have been reading over my shoulder about Quinn.
Hi Lisa - HOw is your Mum?? I've been here just been more on ebay and since jemima has been perfect not really been able to post anything anyone would find useful.... however been taking heaps of advice from here for my friends with bubs, makes them all feel heaps better when they hear about the medication you were on to get more milk working (although it didnt work for my friend afterall) and different things about dummies and stuff that I havent needed but they need... for next bub they can be my experts...
Anne - dont know what is wrong with your ticker now that putting the url at the beginning didnt work...maybe you copied wrong link maybe you using the html one and you have to use another one?? when i get mine i have three links to choose from so i use the one that is for sites that dont allow html??? A week would be plenty to air the room even 3 days??? I think paint these days is chemical free enough that cam will be fine.
I'm such a delegator still! I have benji cleaning the floors and if i'm lucky the skirting boards today! and i promise to keep them looking nice... that has been my major stress ducky problem no housework had really been done properly but we were always too busy to notice so now that i'm home i've been thinking i should do heaps of stuff i've never done and they are big jobs so now benji and i are using our weekends to get the house really really spick and span and then i have less to do during the week..... one housewifey thing per day i have been making that a rule otherwise i stress that i am failing... the mummy thing is easy the housewife thing when you are a all or nothing type of person like me is frustrating!
Anne do you have photos of cam?? can you email me?? benjiandkel@optusnet.com.au i love photos especially of the belly buddy babies!
-
Hehehe see the bunny outfit I made Jem the other night... next year I buy a pattern or a outfit already made! It was meant to have legs and you have to put her arms at right angles to get it on... lucky it only has to last 4 days!!!
-
Anne: you need to remove the [url] and [ /url] tags and instead add [img] to the front. You sound like you're doing really well. If you want a birth horror story, do read the end of my pg journal... but I want another one right now! Shame DH doesn't, so he's in charge of contraception again - Kel, see you in Belly Buddies!
Kel, breastfeeding is ONLY a semi-effective contraception when feeding every 3 hour or so - now Jemima is going through the night you'll be back ovulating and having periods in no time. For every up there is a down! To encourage your body, express a feed in the morning to use as the penultimate feed for your girly. Babies can sleep through once they reach 5kg, apparently, as the don't need anight feed, but can isn't the same as will... have to tell Liebling a bit more about Quinn and Jemima! But one wake-up isn't too bad. BTW, love the bunny! DS has no easter outfit, but as he has just outgrown size 000 it's a good thing I didn't buy one. Be either too smalll or too big! How big is Jemima now?
Lisa, how is everything in your life? I'm hoping things have calmed down a bit.
Quick nappy Q from me - DS is feeding tons, but a nappy will last 6-8 hours in the evening and through the night, only 3h in the day... is this normal? From 5pm (dry as a bone at 8.30pm)-2am? OK, it's good for sleeping through, or will be when the timing shifts to be from 9-6, but is it dangerous or bad?
-
RYN _ Not sure about the nappy question, I forgot how many wet nappies they're supposed to do in a 24hr period. Claudia's nappies are always soaking but she's not a big pooper but I have heard this is normal for breastfed bubs. I was actually going to post about her lack of dirty nappies also. It's sad that our bubs are growing out of clothes so quickly. I too didn't get Claudia an Easter outfit! It totally slipped my mind!
SMYLIE _ The outfit is totally adorable! I think you're very brave & courageous but also quite sensible having your children so close together. If you can do it, go for it I reckon! You're suck a lucky duck that Jemima is sleeping through the night! What a clever girl she is! She is absolutely adorable too BTW.
ANNE _ I found my labour unbearable also. I had an epidural as soon as I was induced with jessica so I basically didn't feel a thing so with this one I wanted to experience the whole labour thing. OMG I got to 8cm & couldn't handle it. I was screaming for the epidural & looking back I must have been putting on a show because I didn't think they usually gave it to you so far dialated. I remember pleading with Alan to make the pain stop & actually believing that he COULD make it stop but was too pig-headed to do it! LOL. Claudia had a VERY bumpy arrival though & came into the world complete with a cephal haematoma & her whole face bruised. She looked like a blueberry. She was completely bruised all over her face. She came down not quite straight & scraped herself all along the inside of my pelvis & it was excruiciating.
ME _ Having a terrible day today with Jessica, not Claudia. She is being so downright naughty that I just don't know what to do! LOL. She has gone off fishing now with Alan so at least that's giving me a break. Claudia is being her usual angelic self. She feeds quite a bit during the day but she goes up to 7 hours at night so I'm not fussed. She is really smily now which is just beautiful. I can't believe she's going to be 6 weeks on Easter!! Can't believe how quick the time is going!
Love Jayne

Hello everyone.
Anne - Welcome back! Cam's 6kg already?! As for your question about labour, the pain for me was absolutely unbearable. I nearly bit the midwife (long story, and it WAS an accident. I also had a few choice words come out of my mouth - DD was out walking with my mother thank goodness) and if I'd had to wait one more minute for the epidural I think I would have DIED!!! As it is, it took over an hour before they gave it to me. The midwife kept asking me if I needed to push (I did) and I kept saying "NO! JUST GIVE ME THE EPIDURAL!!!". Once it was in, I was able to push Bella out in less than 12 minutes - that was the easy part! I've also recovered a lot quicker than I did with Bri. I thought it would be like the first time, due to the age gap. How did you go?
Hi to everyone else - I promise to do personals next time!
My little angel is still doing well. We left Bella and Bri with my parents for a couple of hours today while DH and I went for a bike ride. (He's helping me to prepare for the Brissy to the Bay bike ride. After today, I'm not sure I'll make 20km, let alone over 50km! I was in so much PAIN!) She was wonderful for them of course, smiling and "talking" to them, when she wasn't sleeping!
I think DH wants another bub, but I don't think I can go down that track again (even though Bella is so wonderful). Firstly, I'd like at least a couple of years gap between them to let my body recover a bit. I also think I'm getting too old and I'm worried my body won't spring back as quickly or as well as it has this time. I also just don't think I've got the energy for it. I suppose if it's meant to happen then it will.
Other than Kel and Lisa, is anyone else thinking of trying for another? Those of you who do have children close together, how did you cope? How far apart were they?
On that note, I'm off to bed. Have a great easter everyone!
-
Hello everyone
It has been so long since i've been in here - I haven't been getting notifications and have been busy with Sir Sleep-a-lot!
Hi Anne!!! My labour was great, it went for 21 hours - I ws EXHAUSTED at the end of it but never even thought about drugs, so the whole calmbirth/hypnobirth thing worked a treat.
Kel you ARE a legend!!!! Want to try already is wonderful - I am now starting to think like that - we (DP & I)talked about it yesterday and are thinking we would like to start trying again when Quinn turns one - or thereabouts! Hopefully I'll get 2 sleepers! Quinn has slept from about 9pm to 6.30am for the past couple of weeks and honestly I am not doing anything special.
Ryn as for nappies, Quinn is wetter during the day - considering the long sleeps I would have thought he would soak through even the big nappies but he doesn't, during the day he wees a lot more!!!
Hi to everyone else - sorry don't have time to do more personals! Just thought I should pop in to let you know all is well with me - Quinn had a day of really bad wind on Thursday and I ws so tired from carrying and patting and not being able to put him down for the whole day. but we went to Safety BEach yesterday and he was an angel in the car and slept at nanna and pops house for 3 hours during lunch then his 2 cousins were playing with him all afternoon teaching him how to say "ben" and how to play with trucks :) Very cute! He also got some easter eggs which mummy has lready eaten so he can have them through the breastmilk - great excuse by the way!
TIme to go - hope all is well with everyone!

I just read in my Babylove book that it is "normal" to not have a poo nappy for 3 weeks!
Jemima has not had a pooey nappy since at least last Sunday (we cant remember) and so this is day 6 I think.... not worried about her as it is not bothering her just a bit worried about when it does come! where will I be what will Jem be wearing??!!! (apparently when it does come it is big and soft and everywhere... delightful)
think we are having a growth spurt, she is feeding longer when she feeds but at least I dont feel like i am feeding all the time like a couple of weeks ago!
Last Friday Jemima weighed I think 5245 grams so 20 years ago soon I'd be able to be thinking about solid food... hehehe love having the book Mum had for me when I was a baby and comparing it to the book I have for Jemima, makes EVERYTHING normal as it ALL works.
I almost bought bunny outfits off ebay as they were cheapish but I was worried about getting them in time and none of them were purple and I dont think any of them had fluffy tails so I made it an excuse to clean out the room where my sewing machine should go so I had to make one... Will get her in it again tomorrow, she doesnt mind it once I get it on her but it is a little difficult as I didnt have a pattern and the arms are definately in the wrong spot..... learning about different fabrics the hard way, fluffy stuff is obviously different to the stuff bonds stripey outfits are made of as i based the suit angles on a bonds suit she has ho hum.....
Ryn, since Jemima lasts all night with one nappy (we use disposable at night as it works and we dont want to change something that is working.....) but all morning I'll be changing wet nappies so who knows how that works... in the day time wet nappy is the worst thing in the world for little princess but at night she doesnt seem to mind??

hi girls
Kelly: i'll attempt to email you some photos of my gorgeous bubba - still learning how to do all this. i'd like to set up a website too. try not to be too hard on yourself about the housework. i know what you mean, i was more like that with my older son, but now i'm enjoying my bubba more, as i know how quick it goes. in 5 minutes time they'll all be teenagers!!
lisa: that's great you had a good labour - what a relief. i'll have to read your link.
jayne & michelle: so glad you found labour unbearable too!! that sounds slack, but i just mean that i always feel like a real wuss - most women seem to make light of labour. a lady in a shop the other day rolled her eyes when i said i'd waited 14 years for my second child, because of the pain of childbirth. i always feel like i'm the only woman who can't handle childbirth, and i'm not a wussy person otherwise. my labour this time was better than the first time - not to intense so quickly. i had to be induced again (waters broke, and then nothing else happened). so all my active/calm birth preparations for of went out the window, as i had 2 monitors attached to me for 9 hours and couldn't move around much. couldn't use the shower/bath either - after all my swimsuit preparation!
nursery is finished - wooohooo!! can't bear to put him in there tonight though - still want him squeezed into his bassinette next to my bed!!
hmmm! rant time... mil is annoying me again. she kept saying i was going to have a girl, the whole time i was pregnant. that annoyed me - i didn't care what sex the baby was. anyway, she said to me last night that she is soo disappointed i had a boy! how lovely!! i should of said "yes, but not as disappointed as he'll be when he realises you are his nanna!" me & DS & DH are so happy with our little bubba - and then she says something like that!! she'd made a beautiful little dress, for when i had my "girl", but had nothing for him when he turned out to be a boy. she's a sad woman.
got to go - cam is screaming - even though he's been feeding non-stop!! little piggy!
-
Anne
She is such a B*itch that MIL of yours!!! SHe can think what she wants but she doesnt have to say it.... who cares girl or boy as long as healthy!! wicked witch....
cant wait to see photos.... website is easy as there are so many that are premade you just upload your photos into it... email me and I will email you some sites and things to make it easier benjiandkel@optusnet.com.au
-
hey girls :computer:
kelly: i've just emailed you a couple of photos. yeah, that would be great if you could email me some sites to set up a website.
just to finish off about my labour, it was alot more gradual than last time which was good. but that last hour of contractions was still unbearable. i ended up lying flat on my back on the bed - which is what i'd planned to avoid - and delivered cam like that. so not active!! i'd tried to get into the shower near the end, but before they could undress me i got the urge to push, and i was told to get back into the bed. the pushing out was alot harder this time - i think because my waters had broken over 2 days earlier, so i was so dry. i only had the gas, so that was good.
i'm typing at 5am - just got bubba back to sleep - good time to type with no interruptions!!
hope you are all enjoying your easter weekend.
-
Anne: I can't believe you mil would say that - that is so awful!!!! You should tell her that Cam has decided he doesnt want her to be his nanna because she is very disappointing as a nanna!!!!
If you can could you send some pics to me too? kdkd@optusnet.com.au
Kel: Isn't it funny how the books have changed - but as far as I can tell babies are still the same :) If the old starting on solids thing was still the way it was done Quinn would have been on solids at 3 or 4 weeks!!!! At the last weigh-in he was 6.105 but that was 2 weeks ago so who knows what he weighs now, he puts on around 300gms a week! Little piggy pig pig!
Does everyone elses babies behave like little dreams when daddy is home?? Quinn loves to be first prize winner in the best baby ever competition when DP is home and never has a day of wind but when it's just me he has his moments of not wanting to be put down and bad wind! I think he does it on purpose :D
Anyway time to go, heading off to a friend's place for a bbq.
HAPPY EASTER everyone.

Evil MiL, Anne! I'm in shock about that. As for labour, I'm now starting to feel really, really bad about mine. Well, have been for a few weeks now. The drugs, the intervention... why wasn't it like all the other happy labours? I want another go at it to prove I can do it "right". I'm so angry for having those drugs and for accepting that they "wouldn't let" me do things... whose body is it anyway?
Kel, wow at no poo for six days. I wish! DS still does giant blow-outs every morning, but just wee-wee last night. DH laughs at the giant poo, I have to force him to start changing nappies!
I'm glad other babies are feeding non-stop: DS will have both sides every hour if he could, sometimes he's asleep. The HV told me that DS will have to start on solids at 4m, as early as possible, because he's such a piggy-wiggy. I think not, I'm still annoyed about that advice and am quite glad we've been discharged now. Even DH has been told it is stupid advice and he agrees. I've been brainwashing him with anti-weaning and pro-BFing things, but just having everyone say how much DS has grown in a week at Church this morning helped a lot.
Kirsten, DS is actually better behaved when Daddy isn't around. As in, he gets cranky at night-time some nights. But in the morning he wakes up with a smile (oooh, going to do that on the website now), he is calm and quiet for Church/coffee mornings (so all the ladies love him), he plays nicely all afternoon, unless he's bored of his Tummy Time, then Daddy comes home and it's just non-stop. But he's quiet happy at weekends in the day, luckily Daddy is out for most of them too.
Hi everyone else, we're just plodding on here; I'm getting jealous of all the sleep-through babies!

Hi
No poo for a week is scary!!! I dont want to think about what it is going to be like when it happens!!! Especially if it goes on for the three weeks that can be normal?!! LUCKILY we have paederctian appointment on Tuesday so I will be able to find out about the real deal not what the books are saying. I think maybe she is getting a little uncomfortable or maybe I am imagining it.... she had a beauty spew today so i'm thinking she is running out of room in that body of hers.
I know exactly what you mean Ryn about your labour... I feel exactly the same way, I was told things in the middle of contractions that made me think I needed drugs, i had them all, I keep thinking of extra things I didnt want that i ended up having that I had forgotten about too!
"having" to have a c-section is going to play on my mind forever, i thought the fact the cord ended up around her neck twice meant that the c-section may have saved her life so that made it all ok... but occasionally i get people saying "only twice around her neck" and tell me they have heard of babies being delivered with cord round neck fine.... but then I remember that in our situation we didnt know that was what the problem was and we just knew she was in distress.... i have not read your birth story (i had a little look today and couldnt see one there... is it in the birth story place?) BUT it sounds like you did what you needed to do in your situation at the time to get a baby that was alive... didnt it take a while for him to work out the breathing thing?? there are so many what ifs you just have to be thankful for your healthy little boy and just imagine the bad what ifs at the same time you are thinking of the what ifs that make you wonder if the drugs were the right thing to do...
All medical people have different opinions... ie every midwife had a different way to do everything when I was in hospital... you just have to take it all in and decide what is best for your baby... and that is what you would have done and what DH did too, remember he was there and it is his baby too so whatever he decided on your behalf he must have thought was necessary as he would have DEFINATELY known your opinion on drugs and being cut and what not....
Jemima doesnt play up for anyone in particular, when Daddy leaves for work he gets lots of big big smiles, when he gets home we can be in the middle of witching hour when we are unsettled but never for long.
Oh Ryn, have you tried playing Liebling music when he is sleeping?? or getting to sleep?? we bought the peacebaby cd and think it may be calming, maybe it signals to her we are not going to be doing anything exciting until daytime?? and to just relax and chill out?? we dont rock her to sleep she often just falls asleep and we put her in her bed... we hear her awake in her bed all the time through the night but she doesnt make any noises at all, sometimes we can tell she is hungry and sucking her fingers but she doesnt call for me. i just wait until she does (she doesnt cry she just kinda calls out.....)
Last night was so funny she was almost resting her legs on the edge of the bassinette just kicking her legs about.... she is a squirmy worm!
I just won a baby bjorn on ebay!!! so excited will be heaps better than the dodgy pouch i have at the moment... Benji is going to pick it up for me on Tuesday.
AND I won a highchair too - shabby chic painted red with a cat on it... very cute only $15 so that will suit my house heaps and if it doesnt suit jemima we will just sell it again.

Kelly, my birth story, written just after the birth, is here, at the end of my pregnancy diary. I was OK with it then, but I keep second-guessing and questioning myself, especially because I know with hindsight that without monitoring I wouldn't have even needed any "help" with my contractions. As you say, you do what you have to in order to save your child's life, but it doesn't make it better in the long run.
I do have various lullabies I sing to DS, he won't go to sleep to the lullaby machine we have and he has only ONCE settled in his cot awake and gone to sleep. Sometimes he's OK to lie there, but usually he starts screaming to be let out, but that's because when he's on his back his reflux can cause pain, so I don't mind picking him up... well, I do, because my back usually hurts at this point, but it's what's needed. He's usually OK co-sleeping and getting off, but then he's in my (dead) arms all the time then. Can't wait for him to sleep through and I won't need to co-sleep then!

Hi girls,,,
Can only be quick,, reorganising my christening arrangements again due to family needs, wants etc ggrrr,,,,, wish it was just over and done with already!!
But, Kel,,, Griffen is doing the same thing,,,, in the last 9 days,, he has only done 1 poo!!!! I tell you,, I have been freaking a bit about it,, as he WAS doing poos several times a day,, and has just changed all of a sudden, I took him to the doctors and asked while i was there,, he felt his tummy, and didnt say a thing about it,,, so he must not be to worried.
The one pooh he did do in this time,, was HUGE, but still quite runny, a litle thicker that the normal,, but still, quick liquidy,, so he is not constipated.
He does however have the windiest little bottom around :(,,, He is fluffing heaps all the time,, and gets tummy pain from it,, pulling his legs up and upset etc etc,,,,,the worst though is the smell,,,,,,,eewwwwwwwww
It is just horrid!!.
So I have graduated him from his baby bath which has a molded seat thing in it which i HATE,, and he is in the family bathtub now for baths,, which he absolutely LOVES,,, his little legs go mad when he is in it,, and he just relaxes so much better, opening his hands to feel the water etc now,, where in the babybath, he held them tightly closed and on his chest.
I got Griffen weighed a week ago, and he was 5.06kg, 58cm in length then, and a HC of 40.3, The ECN said he was in the 90% percentile bracket for actual growth (tall boy just like dad), but his weight was in the 50% percentile,, so he is a skinny boy for his height,,, but that can all change so suddenly as you probably have all discovered lol. So he is doing really well, and putting on 295grams a week,, so looooooving his booby feeds :D
He is also outgrowing his 000 bonds growsuits,, which say they can fit 6kg babies of 63cm?????? what a load of garbage,,,,, i cant do the top button up without pushing on his chest a bit too much for my liking,, and his feet are at their limit too.... I have found their suits to be on the smallest fitting for their sizes though that i have found of any clothing. Other 000's fit him well with heaps of room though.
I went though some of the old clothes i had stored from my other boys,, and found one item i though i had lost,,,, a ford racing romper,, super thick,, made to look just like the racing overalls the actual drivers wear lol, a size 0 though,, so i think it might be too big for him to wear this winter unless he has a monster growth spurt lol
anyway,, after i get of these arrangements sorted out, i will get back on and do personals,,,, etc
Love Lil

HI Girls,
Good to hear all the bubs are doing well. Erin put on 300grams last week so that was nice to know the breastfeeding is doing what it is supposed to. She has the longest legs so her sleep suits fit her great in length but are really baggy everywhere else.
She is sleeping fantastic during the day she goes down straight away but at night she won't normally go to sleep till 10.30pm - 11pm and is quite restless. I gave her a dummy for the first time as I had just fed her and she started crying again. It kept her relaxed for about an hour.
Last night she was still awake at 12am good thing when she everntually went to sleep at about 12.40 she sleept till 7am .It is so frustrating isn't it when you know that she is fed, clean nappy and was warm enough and she is still unhappy. I guess thats babies for you.
Well girls take care and will do personals once I have caught up on everyones news.
Love kristy

hey girls ;)
does anyone know, with the "dream feed", where you feed bubs while they are asleep (i don't know if i like that idea anyway, although my bub often falls asleep during a feed), are you supposed to still burp them, or put them to bed unburped? often bub will fall finally fall asleep on my boob, but then i wake him up while i'm burping him, so starting the whole cycle again. but if i put him to bed without burping, he ends up waking up with wind pain.
can't believe how quick cam is growing out of clothes. thankfully i've hardly had to buy anything - been so lucky with friends lending me stuff. he's in 00 now, but won't be for much longer. he was only in 0000 for about 2 weeks. glad i hadn't bought heaps of stuff.
DH bought a good as new peg perego prima papa hi chair for $30-, it reclines and is great. we sit Cam in it at meal times, so he's included with the family! he just gives us dirty looks, like "where's my food??!"
i've banned mil from the house, until she apologises - which will be never. i'm just sick of the negativity - i've put up with it, for the sake of DH & DS, but for her to be disappointed with our beautiful new bubba is just too much.
i've set my website up, thanks to kelly's instructions. i'm feeling very clever! if anyone wants to have a look, its:
http://aflanagan5.photosite.com/album1/
and the password is cameron.
still trying to catch up on everyone's news/birth stories. hope you all had a lovely easter,

Hey Anne, if Jemima falls asleep while feeding I let her stay asleep, in fact if she feeds and doesnt seem bothered I dont burp her at all.... I read somewhere recently that all the baby needs is the chance to burp... so to give bub 3 mins and if nothing happens leave it be.... Jemima needs a little more sometimes but you can tell something is there so I keep trying... I dont wake her up for anything!! (although benji talked me into waking her tonight to put her into a better nappy for bed.... he is a clever cookie)
Lil_aussie i AM SO GLAD Jemima isnt the only one saving a beauty poo!!!!
She is smelly too! I want to try the big bath, but it is really low and deep so will try that tomorrow night but i've seen babies kick around in the big bath and know they have a great time so maybe later this week....
Gotta go I think benji worked out how to play our home movie of jemima's first "letter" (she says O) on the tv... (she gets it from when benji sings old macdonald E, I, E, I O, she knows the O!!!)
-
Oh Anne, your boys are gorgeous!!! You must be one proud Mamma!!!
Thanks so much for sharing your pics.
To all you girls with big gaining babies... I am soooo jealous!!! Harry only gained 70g in 6 days last week... he needs to be re weighed tomorrow... we have regular visits to the ECHN, once a week actually... Harry is definitely out of his 00000 clothes, and most of his 0000, but some 000 are way too big for him... the only thing that stops him from wearing his smaller clothes are his feet and his height.
Great to see there are so many beautiful, healthy bubbas in here... these Feb bubbas ROCK!!!
I hope you all had a great Easter!
