Erin was up 4 times again last night , I am feeling knackered!!!! Trying to have a sleep during the day when she does but finding it hard to actually get to sleep when I am trying so hard to sleep !!
I'm also about 4kg less then pre pregnancy, god knows how as I always seem to have food in my mouth!
-
Kel and Kirsten, Liebs has a big issue with poos - he's a bit better now, but I think the solid ones hurt. I have tried to explain to DH that it's a whole new experience doing a big-boy poo, but he laughed too much. Poor DS! But DH can't cope with the poo smell one bit... then again, he never was that keen to change nappies anyway.
Cate, hope the doctors apppointments go well and you get something sorted.
Kristy, poor you! Wish I could give some advice, but I'm just a staggering zombie too. We had a lie-in this morning as DS decided to be awake 4-6, so we didn't wake up for the day until 8. Are you co-sleeping? That's the only thing that gets me through. Maybe you could co-sleep for nap-times, that way at least you'll be lying down relaxing.
Me, well, nothing new. No sleep still. Second tooth almost through still. Hungry baby still. He tried to say "fish" last night, but it didn't sound too much like "fish".
-
ok, she will have a pH probe test. its a nasogastric tube to the stomach with sensor probes. a computer worn on her tummy will record over 12 or 24 hours the pH levels and i must push a button everytime she's upset so on the printed graph they see if the pH is very acidic and she cries, then they know what to treat. they might also do a barium swallow, where she takes a dye, and they see on xray how long it takes to go through the stomach. a lady will ring me to organise when to do it, and i ring the paed too. so hopefully we gets answers. she's been real grumpy since w/e.
-
Hi girls :)
Thanks to everyone who has congratulated me on my weightloss... I am so proud of myself... mostly for actually sticking to a diet... thats not like me at all!!! lol
Catherine - Poor El... I hope she gets some answers and some relief soon. Thinking of you both
-
Ryn: Quinn loves a big poo, he gets all red and grunty and serious, then it's all laughs and smiles and happy times :D Ahh the poo talk will never end in here will it?
DP thinks everyone he comes into contact with wants to hear the Mighty Quinn Mighty Poo stories, he hasn't caught on yet that no one is interested in talking about baby poo!
Catherine: Hoping everything goes well with the tests and they can finally help your Little El.
Kristy, it's so hard to sleep when you're trying, i have lost the ability to nap during the day. Hope I relearn that for the plane trip!
Only 3 more weeks till we go to Spain!!!!!!
-
kirsten go to big w and buy quinn the mobile phone that says "oleh" and "adios" he must have it
i only tell my poo stories to other mums but i wish more people were interested as it is BIG part of our life.... it can make or break out day i guess...........
catherine - that is so good they are doing those tests for elouise so you will finally know what is wrong and fix it
kristy - i never slept when jemima slept, i have had a nap with her twice i think in 6 months. bad idea. we just lucky she sleeps at night but then i stay up til the wee hours of the morning usually looking on ebay or whateva... trying to get to bed more....do you take erin for a walk in the afternoon??? that seems to work for jemima and my dogs she loves the walk and maybe sleeps easier at night if we have gone for walk in the day?
it is grandparents week at swimming so benji mum going to be at swimming lessons and then we go to lunch should be good - TODAY IS FULLY SUBMERGED day for jemima!!! very excited!!! i have just got her to sleep for a nap so she is full of beans for swimming!
now to get ALL our kit and kaboodle ready to go out!
-
update on the wallet: big w have found it! everything there except $50 wish card and the $80 cash. i'm glad i don't need another id card. keycards, medicare cards cancelled so still need to wait till they come in the mail but everything else is there. just need to pick it up. don't need id, they just look in it and know its me and its mine again. no longer going to use it, got a separate cash and card system with the bellybag (bumbag). thanks for the support! and i'm going to the doc tomorrow and spilling my guts and hopefully can get better mentally. and elouise is going to have the test on monday, the lady will call back tomorrow about the admission info etc. so here's hoping we get results.
-
Hi everyone. Phew, I have missed so much! I hope you're all well and Catherine, I really hope the docs can sort you and your bub out. I can only try to imagine the stress you're feeling right now.
Lisa, you go girl! You're doing extremely well with your weight loss!
I'm sure Bella's going to wake up soon so I must hurry!
As for solids, I'm not being all that adventurous - we're having pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, carrot and zucchini. For dessert it's custard either vanilla, banana or strawberry and banana. She'll have a teething rusk on occasion too.
I have a recipe for chicken and rice, so next week I might try that. I'm not looking forward to those poos!
We changed Bella over to the follow-on formula last week, but have had to switch her back. It wasn't agreeing with her and the doc said to try again in a month or so because her tummy's obviously not ready for it yet.
I bought her a sipper cup yesterday with a silicone spout (Tommee Tippee). I'll try it today. The Avent one was a bit too hard for her to work out and she couldn't get any water out of it.
Isabella's been great although she cracked up big time at the gym on Tuesday. I think it was because we hadn't been in a while (thanks to everyone getting sick!) and she was really tired. We're back into it next week, so it should be interesting.
Kel, Jemima rocks as usual, and I'm glad to hear she did so well at the doc - how did you keep her amused for so long in the waiting room???
Better go as Bella's just woken up.
Hi to everyone else I've missed - will try to keep up so I can do personals later!
-
yeah those tommee tippee nuby soft spout sippy cups are great. el is not ready for a cup, so i'll get one at a later date. i have heard that the follow-on formula is not necessary. it has a little more carbs and less fat than stage one, and such tiny differences in other nutrients. when i changed el over, she actually got either constipated or had really runny poos. i put it down to the new formula. course now she has the AR formula so i can't talk much on the issue. got the doc appt soon. i feel really good but i know i should still go. we'll get my wallet today from big w. and hopefully my massage gift voucher is in it, as i can't find it here. i probably put it in the wallet. i can't remember.
-
She just used it and got a bit of water out. You should have seen her face! lol
I've heard that about the follow-on as well, and that the changes aren't huge. Either way I'm not worried - I'll just keep her on the other one for now, and maybe try again in a month.
You were lucky to get your wallet back - shame about the money and voucher though...! At least you don't have to worry about replacing everything.
Good luck today at the doctor - you'll probably find you feel soooo much better getting it all out.
-
Hi girls,
Lisa - You have done fabulaous sweet, keep up the good work!
Catherine - Glad to hear your got your purse back, hope all Bubs problems are sorted out really quickly.
Michelle - glad to hear Bella is well, I cought a sippy cup as well haven;t tried it out yet.
Kirsten - Spain in 3 weeks , I am very jealous. Have you been there before? I loved it, and it was one of my favourite places
Kel - yay for Jen and her swimming abilities
Ryn - You must be exhausted with all that feeding.
Good news girl, Erin has only woken up once a night for the last 2 nights for a quick 10 min feed around 3ish. I feel like a new women !!Touch wood touch wood touch wood !! Her 2nd tooth is now through so maybe that was causing her some drama.
Thinking about starting her on solids shortly as she is coming up towards 6 months. Question for teh breastfeeding girls do you put EBM in there suippy cups at all or just water?
-
Doctor's visit was good. She's referred me to the mental health clinic so I can see a psychologist. If I'm not able to see one within a week, then I'm to go back and she will refer me to a private psychologist, where I can claim 12 visits of $75 on medicare but may need to pay a gap. The clinic is all bulk-billed. I'm not concerned about the costs, just need to feel better. The doctor said that if I don't get to see a psychologist within a week or two, she'll start me on medication. So I'm going to ring up for an appointment. Oh god my head hurts. Hurry up panadol...

Hi all,
We've had a tough few days..... Monkey gets to 3:30ish then the devil possesses her! Well, that's a little extreme, but she just won't sleep, gets overtired and this battle lasts until around 10:30pm - it feels like she's a newborn again!! It could be constipation (that was definitely an issue from Sat-Tues!), teething, the fact we've been quite busy, or maybe just one of those things! I have read about certain stages when babies can find it hard to get to sleep as their brains are going through a surge in devel - maybe its one of these times??? I know I shouldn't complain, as she's not too bad overnight, but even this hasn't been as good as usual....
re: cups... I know what you mean about the Avent one, Michelle. Monkey was having the same issues, but eventually got it and now is pretty good. I have heard those TommyTippee ones are great though. Good luck.
And re: the EBM or just water in a cup...... we have begun trying EBM in the cup with Monkey as well as water, because she won't take a bottle for love or money (she used to, but only up till 10wks!).
So, she has water 3xday with her meals, just sips, I don't think she's ever had more than about 15-20ml, then about every 2nd day (when I can be bothered expressing enough extra milk), we try her with milk in her cup for 1 feed. So far, the best she's ever managed was 35ml, but we were very excited and at least there was no screaming like there used to be with the bottle. When she's fatigued or getting tetchy, she just finishes the feed from me. It's all slowly slowly in this house.....
Kirsten, I too am incredibly jealous!!! Is it a holiday, or a visit to relatives to show off Quinn? We loved Spain too.... oh the travelling days..... how I miss them!!!
Catherine, I have some info for you about those Medicare rebates for private counselling..... it is possible to get up to $110 depending on the code that the therapist uses.... My place charges $130, so to get back $110 vs $75 makes a huge difference to us. I'll give you the details when we catch up tomorrow.
Monkey has just woken screaming after 30 minutes.... DH has gone to get her, but I better go and help.....
-
Hi everyone
Trip to spain is a holiday. We decided that it would be easier to go that far before Quinn is walking. I've never been to Europe so am really looking forward to it, not looking forward to the flight but the holiday will be lovely.
Quinn had mushrooms for the first time yesterday and he loved them, poos are nasty though!!!!!
-
Hi everyone :)
Oh Kirsten... you must be so excited!!! How long till you leave? Wow, what an experience... I actually have Spanish heritage on my Mum's side, so I would love to visit Spain one day.
Kell - Speaking of Spain/Spanish, I have been meaning to mention for ages that Harrison has the Hola/Adios mobile too... he loves it. Thanks for the comment on Harry's site too ;)
Catherine - I hope El goes well today.. fingers crossed that everything will be sorted out soon for your little princess... thinking of you both
Michelle - How is Isabelle going with the Tommee Tippee Cup? Harry has problems with the Avent one also... if it is good, I might have to buy him one this week.
Kym - Harry has the devil in him around 3am!!! It is a pain in the butt... he just wakes up, and starts playing in his cot... then he will get the cranks, and want to come into bed with Rob and I... otherwise... he is perfect... this seems to be his new thing. I hope Monkey finishes this stage soon for you.
Kristy - Yay for Erin :confetti: you must feel great... I hope she keeps it up... before you know it, you will feel normal again... I forget what that feels like now with Harrison waking at 3am most mornings... grrr... lol
Ryn - Yay for Liebling getting a 2nd tooth!!! All these bubba's with teeth!!! Harry still has none. Has Liebling been okay with the teething? Harry has gone through a growth spurt too, its either that or he is wanting to eat more because he is more active now? Who knows... but all he ever seems to do is want to eat!!!
Harrison and Me - Well... Harrison has now decided that he is liking the view more when he is standing... so he is pulling himself up onto everything he possibly can... he walks along the lounge, holding on... It is stressful enough having a crawling baby in the house, who is into EVERYTHING... but a walking baby will be worse. I think he is going to be an early walker like James was... James was walking at 9 months... and trying to run at 10!!!
I am so proud of myself... I have lost 10.2kgs!!! I am over the moon!!! I have loads more to go... I have been tempted to give in to junk, but have resisted and I feel much better for it... I am actually finding that some days I don't have enough time to eat all the foods that I am meant to eat!!! Which is so unlike me... the one thing this diet has me doing is eating breakfast... I am not a breakfast person, but I have to eat every 5 hrs, and if I don't eat breakfast, then I can eat lunch etc... so I have to do it... and I feel fantastic for it thankfully.
Thanks so much for all your support girls :grouphug:
-
hey hey
i think we have the tommee tippee cup everyone is talking about and jemima LOVES it, she loves water she usually likes to wash down her dinner with it and the other day when she had a temperature etc after needles (it was the day after!) and was a little blocked up from baby panadol it made giving her water so easy as she can use it herself.... there is a photo of it on her site it is the purple and pink one of her in her new highchair.... i had not seen the avent one
lisa if my computer could do any of those little smileys easily i'd be doing the OMIGOSH excited one for you!!! 10.2kg is AWESOME, actually it is better than awesome but i cant think of the word! congratulations, can we ask how many more you have to go? just think how amazing you will look at Harry's first birthday!? (that is my aim to wear matching red cords with Jemima at her first birthday)
why do babies start waking again in the night? jemima has been giving us a wake up for last week i guess, sometimes it doesnt count coz i am still awake but last night i think it was 2.30 or something - what is with that? maybe today will be better as she has FINALLY gotten the hang of the eating thing.... it is less a game now i think and she seemed to want more this morning so maybe she'll be less hungry and therefore not wake up! hmph
lisa harry is awesome in the video clip so i can totally imagine him walking along stuff! jemima wants to stand up and pretend to walk and stand up and dance but rolling around and pushing bum up?? only if there is a REALLY good reason! ho hum
catherine - i am so glad you are getting some help to relieve some of the stress in your life, that is a big step and especially when you are so busy and worried about elouise!
gotta go - did everyone know FATHERS DAY is like THIS weekend.... i dont have time for it this weekend so i am thinking about moving it to the weekend after - is everyone ok with that??!! what is everyone doing for fathers day?
i have to go and find a book that i know benji wants to read AND get him a keyring or mug with jemima's photo AND then the grandfathers i think i want to get them both a mousemat with jemimas photo but then one grandfather has 2 granddaughters born a week apart so should i get his mousemat with a photo of them both humph i want to but dont want to and know that SIL wouldnt care enough and would get one with just her baby but hmph.
-
Ok this morning when the tube went in she screamed like a banshee and as soon as I fed her, she dropped off to sleep. Been cranky on and off. Sorry I've been so wrapped up in my troubles I've not paid any attention to you all. Congrats to those who've lost weight. I need scales soon, then maybe I'll lose weight. El woke up every 2 hours last night. 11pm, DP soothed her. 1am, I soothed her, and again at 3am and at 5am I managed to dream feed her without her waking. Fasting 3 hours prior to test was a pain. So today I'm constantly writing a "diary" to track her position (lying, sitting etc), when she cries, coughs, gags, eats, drinks milk, drinks water, sleeps.
Tomorrow afternoon for the psychologist. Man do I need it. Hopefully it goes well.
From tomorrow I hope to be a little more attentive to you all!
-
Catherine - Don't apologise hon... we've all been through our ups and downs and most of us have had what we call "selfish" posts... it's the joys of being a Mummy... sometimes you don't have time to do the things you wanna do. I have enjoyed all your posts, I just wish I could be more of a support to you right now... Poor little El, I really hope things are sorted for her soon. All the best to you for tomorrow at the psychologist... I know it won't be an immediate fix, but I hope it helps you to get some things off your chest.
Kell - To be honest... I have loads to lose... right now, I am aiming to lose 40ish kgs by Harrison's birthday. The thing I am happy with is that I am eating a fair bit, and it isn't crap... there are no pills or shakes (which I can't stand!!!). I have never been one to survive on just shakes... My mum can go on Tony Ferguson and be fine with it, I go on it and feel like crap... I am doing Cohens... and every meal has vegetables and protein... and sometimes carbs... and I have 2 serves of fruit per day, which is great as I am never usually a fruit person... and I am happy with my results and how I am sticking to it!!
Yep, Fathers day this weekend... I haven't got Rob anything yet... I am slack... we are going to my Mum's house for lunch... should be a nice day :)
-
Hi everyone!
Lisa, wow at 10.2kg! That's loads of weight! Lieby is 18lb and really heavy and that's only just over 8kg, so you're doing so well. You've lost a whole Liebling! I am so chuffed for you.
Cate, sweetie, your sleeping post could have mirrored a lot of mine early on. Now I just ignore the sleeping as although it's a big thing for me, I refuse to remember how bad it is and just get on with the day. This isn't to say you should, just that after 6+ months of broken sleep it's the only way I can manage it. But Lieby is getting a lot better now, getting a 4-5 hour stretch every night, so it does pass I promise. But the every 1-2 hours is such a nightmare. I'm thinking of you and El and hoping all is going to be OK very soon.
Kirsten, Spain! Woo-hoo! Hope you like it there. I can't remember much of Spain, never stayed there for long periods of time, but I hope you like it. I keep thinking of Costa Rica when I try to picture Spain, as I've spent more time there and that's a Spanish-speaking country and that's bad as they aren't that similar.
Kel, we had Father's Day 3 months ago - but DH won't take down the card yet! We got him a CD entitled #1 Dad, which now lives in the car.
Water - DS does take it in a free-flowing sippy cup, but vomits afterwards, be it tap water or cool boiled water, so I'm not going to push it. I keep meaning to get a Doidy cup, but until he's OK with water there's no point.
Poos - of course - I'm going to buy Little Man a potty tomorrow. I know when he's about to do poos about 70% of the time with 5-10 mins warning so may as well get him doing poos like a big boy. I let him do poos in naked time this morning but he kicks about in them, I reckon potty is the way to go. Less cleaning up afterwards too.
As for sleep, he finally did a long stretch (4-5hrs) with a long sleep, he's been only doing 7hrs sleep at night recently but he's getting the hang of it again, I'm sure he'll go longer without waking and shorter sleeps again soon and hopefully keep going until he's sleeping all night! He's teething again so will have to see what's up next.
Right, DS wants his porriage so best be off; he loves his breakfast!
-
Wow, Ryn, Liebling doing big boy poos already. El still does peanut butter and occasional watery sprays. I guess its because she's not eating much solids. She loves her water though, but drinks it too fast, even though its a slow flow bottle. She used to sleep all night but now wakes up and needs settling. But one of us has to get up to her. Usually me. And she flips onto her stomach every time she is put on her back. So she will barely nap. Waiting for my safe t sleep off ebay.
tube removal went well, she wasn't upset for long. but later was so damn wriggly and fidgety i could hardly hold her to feed her. my psych appt went well, she wants me to get my gp to refer me to a clinical psychologist for cognitive behavior therapy. but she'll still call twice a week to keep an eye on me.
dammit why won't she go to sleep? i got her down at 7.15. and she woke an hour later. this is happening too often. really annoying as the dishwater has now gone cokd and i have to refill the sink and i have washing all over the bed to fold. so tired.
-
Hello: I'm just quickly popping in to catch up. Guess who has the most teeth in the whole world? QUINN!!!!!!!! He is just cutting number 8 now! Glad that lot are out before the plane trip!!
Catherine: What were the results of El's testing?? How are you going? how is your Psych? Quinn has decided that the only time he will sleep on his back is in the pram the rest of the time he sleeps on his stomach now - I used to go in and turn him over but then one night I woke him up and he screamed for about an hour before i could get him back to sleep so now I just leave him on his tummy.
Kel: Fathers day!! DP is working for half the day he has lots to do before we go away, but Quinn bought him some horse shoe cufflinks yesterday (DP is a mad horse racing fan) and a book called me and my dad :) I read something about babies waking in the night again at 6 months because of more awareness or something between sleep cycles...I think, it was something like that and is very common, Quinn did it for a couple of weeks but is back to sleeping 7pm to 7am...I know I know I'm very lucky.
Hope everyone else is well.
-
Not sure what we're doing for father's day. Terry doesn't want a gift, or he won't answer me. We got the safe T sleep in the post today, so I'll put it on the cot very soon. Tomorrow we get the results from the pH test. I have a feeling it may be inconclusive. She'll probably have other tests. The psychologist I have is really nice. Today I see my GP and get a referral for further therapy, but the psychologist I have atm will be keeping in touch. Wow Kirsten, ten teeth! El doesn't have any. And Spain, it'll be years before I get to go overseas. It's great you get a holiday before Quinn gets too much older and running around.
The reflux is flaring up again. 90% silent reflux yet its not silent! She's been so difficult, screaming a lot and only happy on her tummy. She did a big vomit this morning, most caught in the spit cloth and some on the couch. Then she slept for 45 min nap in her cot, woke and I got her. She fell asleep in my arms as I waited till next feeding time. She slept for 1 hour, 45 mins! All the big sleeps are when I'm holding her. Meh, I had tv downloaded onto the computer I watched. Oh I hope that she gets some relief from this godawful reflux.
-
Quinn is da toothy man! Fantastic news, Kirsten. Lieby still has just the two. I wish I'd have gotten sorted with Lieby's passport; we could have done a day trip to Spain and stalked you! Ah well, the best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
Catherine, I really hope something gets sorted for Elouise soon. It's just not right she has to wait like this. Could you co-sleep so she will sleep a bit longer?
As for me, DH vetoed buying a potty just yet. I'm so mad, especially with yesterday's poo story (which led to DS's first ever shower - I put the story in my journal) but anyway. I also met a tiny week-old baby yesterday, she is so tiny! Lieby is HUUUUGE!
Lieby also has a new sleep CD set up. It's so nice and relaxing. Shame his sleeping bag was still wet after the wash so he didn't sleep great, but he was waking up and self-settling before I went to bed; I could hear it on the monitor! Might try sleeping in the sitting room tonight as it may be my presence that's bothering DS.
-
Kirsten - Wow at Quinn's 8 teeth!!! Jamie teethed like that... all the teeth he was supposed to get in the first 18-24 months of his life, he got within 3 months... it was terrible for him... I hope Quinn hasn't been suffering too much with them.
As for the sleeping on his stomach... Harrison has started that too!!! Only he sleeps on his stomach, FACE DOWN!!! It was so frightening the first time that I noticed him like that... I yanked him out of his bed so quickly, I was worried he'd stopped breathing... he was fine, he was just annoyed that I'd woken him... but now, when I either see him roll over in his sleep, or find him that way, I put him into bed with Rob and I.
Hi to everyone else... it is a beautiful day here today... Harrison has slept for most of it... sleepy boy!!! We enquired about him starting swimming classes in the next few weeks, I am so excited about that... no where here would take babies under 6 months... so now that it is warming up, I think it is time to start :)
I hope everyone has had a lovely day... I will do personals the next time I have a spare minute or 2.
-
Everyone sounds like they are doing really well. Wish I could say the same for me!
Elouise is the devil. She kicks so much in a nappy change that I have to hold her feet and I feel I'm holding her feet too hard. She flips over at any moment, so its hard to keep her upright or on her back after a feed.
I gave her nappy free time on our bed, on a cloth nappy. I had a quick browse on the computer for about 10 seconds or so, and she was in the middle of the bed. Then I heard a thump and freaked out :crying: and rushed over. She fell off the bed. Quickly settled (much quicker than me) and not hurt. DP got a bottle and I fed her on the bed. Then I felt something slimy and she'd done a poo! And she happened to wriggle away from the nappy so got the blanket. Lovely :wall:.
I put her in the Safe T Sleep about 20 mins ago, and she can't roll over in it SUCCESS!!! :confetti: Oh and she fell asleep.
Ok, so only a bit over 16 hours till we see the doc. I hope she gets some medication. Maybe not Losec, but at least a low dose Zantac might help her.
I sorta co-sleep sometimes in her naps, ie I hold her for the entire nap. Can't do that all the time, she'll get too used to it. And I roll over too much at night and can't guarantee she won't wake up.
And the smilies, well every time I tried to click the box so all would come up, it wouldn't work. Finally found some other link and have bookmarked it so I can find it again. Smilies are cool.
I have to make the appt with the new psychologist, my GP talked with her on the phone and said it may be a fortnight before I can see her. So I must remember to make an appt in the morning.
Oh how my life is hard. I feel so angry  at El at times when she kicks and screams and rolls over too soon after a feed. I know she's not doing it to upset me but its still really hard to control my emotions.
-
Hi everyone!
Lisa - the Tommee Tippee cup is working well. All she needs to do is squish her gums on the bit you drink out of and the water comes out. It's also non-spill, so no messes! Can't believe Harrison is pulling himself up already! WOW! A huge CONGRATULATIONS on losing 10.2kg! Very well done and I bet you're feeling great! Just stay focused on your goal and you'll get there. Bella's started tummy sleeping too - wierd!?
Kel - I know I only talked to you on MSN about 20 minutes ago, but where on your site is the photo of Jem's cup? I like the new photos on there by the way - Jem's such a cutie! Bella's still waking up through the night. Only once last night, but several the night before. I'm like, "What the...?" after things going so well for so long, so you're not alone there! As for Father's day, we're going out for dinner on Sat night and that's about it. I want to get Jason something special from Bella - I might copy you and do the mug thing. Not sure yet?? Can they do those the same day??
Ryn - I bought Bri a potty when she was little and she pood in it at 13 months (total fluke and was the result of me catapulting her onto the potty as the poo was coming out of her bottom!), but in the end she refused to use the potty but was fully toilet trained using the "big" toilet by 2 years.
Catherine - Hang in there mate! I think all of our babies have been possessed by the devil lately, and with all of the problems Elouise has already, you've got a whole lot more to deal with. You have done so well to get this far and I really admire you for that. I hope they can put an end to Elouises problems soon - it must be heartbreaking for you to see her suffering. I'm glad she's ok after falling off the bed too!
Kirsten - 8 TEETH!!! Gawd! Mine is still yet to get her first, although she's drooling everywhere at the moment and the poos have suddenly got really slimy and squishy! Yuk! I'm very envious of you going on holidays too - make sure you take lots of pictures to show us ok?? THANK YOU for telling us that Quinn is back to sleeping through - I now have faith that my little terror (albeit a very cute one!) will revert back to her old self soon!
Me - Well as I said before, Bella's still not sleeping very well. She's also gone RIGHT off her vegies and pretty much all solids. It's really strange. She's still happy enough and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies, so I'll persevere for a few more days.
She's definitely gotten a lot cuter in the last week and I am yet to get the video camera to download to the computer (I am waiting on a card thing I bought off eBay to arrive). Will post on YouTube once I've done it! She screamed the creche at gym down the other day, but today was much better. Maybe she's getting to the end of whatever it is that's turned her into a terror lately??
Anyway, Bri is giving me a "pedicure" at the moment and has decided to pluck out my toe hairs now that my toenails looks ok, so I'd better go. OUCH!!!!!
-
hey catherine
your little girl is not the devil, you poor thing, you both sound so frustrated with everything!
I dont think there is anything I can say but hang in there and it will get better.... you are being so strong, i think mothers with 'challenging' babies are awesome, i dont know how i would cope if Jemima had reflux or anything like that!
kirsten - Quinn has 8 teeth omigosh! that is so cool! jemima's teeth are all hiding, the first two look so cute though she has such a lovely smile! i am so excited for you going to spain, you may run into my brother there, when he comes out of the amazon jungle i think one of his next stops is spain, he is also going to paris and i think korea then perth then by xmas home!! how long til you go now?
lisa - did you get a sleep in when harrison was sleeping?? hehehe I did that today, jemima and i didnt 'get up' until about 11am hehehehe LOVE THAT GIRL but then the rest of the day was a little out of whack with food and stuff oh well if you have brekky at 11 of course you should have dinner at 4pm.... tomorrow i have to get out of bed before lunch coz have the dog washer coming about 7.30am grmph.... and guess what i have now lost 5kg all by myself... the old fashion way diet and exercise since the beginning of May, I stayed the same weight for the last month or so but after reading YOUR kickar$e stories of 10+kg lost I got back on the bandwagon and lost the final little bit to get to my first goal weight! so since the day before Jemima was born i have lost 14.5kg! slow and steady wins the race i guess, so here we go with the next 5kg (i have 15.5kg to go then i re-evaluate) (or am hopefully pregnant)
ryn - just buy the potty, it sounds like an awesome idea if pubert is interested.... i can tell when jemima is wanting to do a nappy too but it is me that is not interested in potties just yet.... still making myself get interested in feeding the girl food which is finally a great success.... had some 'teething' problems getting her to understand the concept of eating - she knew what to do it just took a long time
still she sucks her fingers after every couple of spoons and loves looking around..... so we just feed her like that i need a swival chair instead of a highchair i think.............. will read the poo story in your journal later, am intrigued!
has any other babies got youtube channels? Isabella and Jemima do.... i would love to add your babies to jemima's.
so funny one of jemima's videos has been watched hundreds of times and now i understand why.... i put in the description "jemima dancing on the table" and the title is "breast milk the real thing" so would come up anytime anyone searches for breast heheheheheheh check it out the link is on her website
happy friday

Kel, I bet all those viewers were extremely disappointed when they realised that the video had cute little Jemima instead of what they thought! lol
-
No YouTube, Kel, but DS is on facebook - you'll have to search forhis full name, or search for me by my full name and he's my friend. Or you can be friends with me if you like!
DS's full name is in the birth announcements thread for those who don't know it already.
Cathrine, I often say DS is an angel - I'm just unsure as to whether he was sent down or whether he fell down.
Michelle, good to know I'm not the only hairy-toed Mamma out there!

Hi all,
We have had tough times here.... no time to log on, let alone post. DH is with Monkey now.....
Poor little pumpkin is constipated and in the past 7 nights we've had 5 where she hasn't slept more than an hour or so at a time - we are just not used to a baby who wakes 6-8 times per night screaming in pain and each wake can take ages to settle again. We've taken to some co-sleeping, lots of extra comfort feeds, whatever really! Sometimes absolutely nothing is helping and we just have to hold her while she crys. I did take her to GP (for immun.) and while I was there asked about this.... on her advice I have reluctantly put her on some laxitives short term (coloxyl), but they haven't really been fantastic; still not a lot of good results......
Very frustrating as her diet was 99% veges anyway, a bit of fruit and some baby porridge. I had stopped the yoghurt and banana ages ago due to tummy pains. It isn't stopping her eating and I've been told not to stop her food. We are trying prunes too......
I guess we just have to ride it through and wait till her digestive system learns to cope better, but the longer these laxitives aren't working, the more worried I am that there is something else going on.....
I've read everyone's updates, but don't really have time for personals, sorry... it's my shift again.
The other sad thing is that since all this has been going on, Monkey doesn't seem to be as happy in my arms as DH's; this is just making me more emotional when I'm already tired and feeling like we are failing her......
I hope to have some more time soon to chat properly

Hey Kym,
Try prune juice diluted half with water. Mix other fruit juice in for flavour if she won't take it. Warm baths, tummy massage and bicycling of the legs can help move bowels. If you have a big adult bath, have a bath with her. She might enjoy the comfort and you can rub her tummy. Good luck ok, we're here for you.
I had a crisis friday night. Called theu acute mental health team and now they call me every day to check how I'm going. Today was really good. Elouise is definitely an outdoor baby. She got agitated every time we went inside. She went to sleep nearly an hour ago. Nice. She's settling down a bit more.
I see a psychiatrist tomorrow morning. I'm going to ask for medication. I know it will take a little while to start working but the longer I leave it, then I have to use so much effort when I start therapy and the medication might make it easier for me to relax and work things out.
Going to get a sippy cup soon. Her water bottle is a little stumpy and heavy when there is more than 50mL in it. She tries to hold it up, but its a bit hard. When she tries to drink herself more often, then I'll get one of those Nubys with the handles.

Oh Kym and Catherine, I hope things get happier in your houses soon!
Jemima went on first big road trip this weekend, we went to Rockhampton, (650km) she travels so well, we are so lucky! We went at night time on Friday so she slept the whole time except for about 9.30 when she wanted a quick feed and then at 1amish when we stopped for petrol. On the way back when I thought she would be 'awful' she slept and played the whole time, she whinged once a couple of minutes before we were going to stop for lunch and then once when it is her 'dinner' time so Benji jumped in the backed and fed her pumpkin on the move.... she is awesome.
Her sippy cup was in an accident so now it has no handles.... we dont know how but when we went out on Saturday with my cousin we were visiting on the way back on the side of the road we saw her cup, the handles snapped a little... wasnt squashed so gave it a quick clean and she uses it really well.
It is lucky she uses sippy cup so well because she has basically dropped ALL DAYTIME FEEDS.... have any other bubs done that? she has one at 6-7am and then maybe one at 9.30amish (she has FOOD inbetween) and then the last 2 days at about 11.30 she is hungry but only wants FOOD and then at 4.30ish she is hungry but for FOOD and then by about 5 -6pm she wants milk again and then at about 9.30pm AND some random time of night she wants a feed too....... so i have been giving her water as well
how has FOOD affected the other bubs?

Hi girls :hello:
This is a quick one because I am sooooo tired!!!
Michelle - Harrison went off his solids too!!! We asked the ECHN about it and she said it is more about the offering... even if he only has a couple of spoon fulls thats better than nothing... and now, he is eating everything... So keep offering Bella, I am sure she will start eating again in no time.
Kym - Harrison seems to be happier in his Daddy's arms also at times... He also gets this look on his face when he is with his Daddy... it is like he is thinking "Ha!! Now I'm with Daddy!" it is so cute... I like that he is like that with his Daddy, when Daddy is here.
Kell - Wow!!! A huge congratulations on your weight loss :confetti:... it feels fantastic huh? Keep up the great work ;)Yay on Jemima's road trip!!! What a great little traveller!!! James and Madeleine were like that... Harrison is going on his first road trip to Sydney in Jan... so he will be older then... but so far he loves the car... especially my car, not so much Daddy's car because Daddy's car is little and has a more uncomfy car seat in it!!! lol
Me - Not much going on here... we had a great fathers day... I made 2 desserts and a potato salad and didn't eat anything but the food I brought along with me... I'm very proud of myself for that.. Harrison pigged out on sandwiches, he ate some sausage... he at tomato and cucumber and he even had some raspberry and apple crumble... and he slept from 6:30pm until 7:40am!! He even slept through 2 nappy changes!!! Lol.
Hi to everyone I've missed... I hope you're all well... I will do personals real soon :grouphug:
-
Kym and Catherine, I hope things look up soon for you!
Kell - I'm sure we'll be chatting later! Glad the trip was uneventful and Jem was so good for you!
Lisa - Harrison obviously loves his food! I was saying to Kel last night that maybe Bella needs more variety?
Me - Bella's eating a little bit more than she was, but still nothing to rave about yet. I suppose she'll gradually get better. Sleeps are still funny. She got me up at 11.30 last night for a feed (almost a full bottle) then through to 6.30. I was VERY happy with that!
What other foods are we supposed to give at this age? I'm just doing farex, veges (pumpkin, sweet potato, zucchini, carrot and potato) home cooked and pureed, and I've tried a fruit jelly thing (Heinz I think) and a variety of custards and oatmeals in the jar. When Bri was a baby, they would tell me specifically what I should be giving her, so this time around I feel like I'm sort of on my own!
Better go, Bella's crying. Talk later!

michelle -
MAYBE IT'S THE SPOON!!! My friend whose baby has no interest in food whatsoever (coz she is too young but her mum wants her to be more advanced than she really is) anyhow she was not giving anything ago but came to my place used different spoon and had a little more luck.
so maybe get a different spoon.
have you tried yogurt? jemima really lapped up the baby yogurt then got better with the other food after that
that's my 2 cents worth anyhow.

Things are going really well here. Except El has gone off solids too. Going to start again today, as we just started HAAR formula, hoping that that will go through her tummy quicker so she's not feeling full all the time. And she's hungry now so I must go. Congrats to everyone on their achievements!
ETA: She ate a cube of banana and one of pear. All gone! And some water! This is great! We're on our way to proper meals. Finally!!!
-
Kel, I use different spoons all the time, but never fear - things are picking up! She ate three meals yesterday. Not as big as I would have liked, but better than last week's "efforts".
Catherine - I'm so glad things are going well for you. Join the "no solids" club! I just kept offering Bella little bits and she has just started taking some more, so hang in there! Pear is good to get things "moving" too - my ex MIL used to give DD#1 pears to "clean her out"!
Us - This morning Bella had a nice big farex breakky, so she's happy (and so am I!).
She went to bed at around 5.30pm last night, woke at 7.30pm for a huge feed, then straight back to bed until 4am this morning. She didn't want to go back to bed after that, so for the FIRST time ever, she hopped into bed with us! DH is really scared of squishing her, and if I were her, I'd be scared of him squishing me too! (He's a big boy, as in quite tall and very solid). So he ended up getting up for breakfast at 4.30 and I put Bella on his side of the bed, and we slept quite nicely until around 7.30! Noice!
Anyway, better go - I'm working on my website whenever I can today, so better get cracking while Bella's asleep!
-
Hi all,
Very quick post from me...we're off to Spain tonight, I think I am all packed...perhaps overpacked - so much stuff is needed for babies it's insane!!!
Hope all is well for everyone and think of me squished on a plane with quinn on my lap!!!!!
:D
-
OMG! Have a fantastic time Kirsten! We can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
-
Have a great time in Spain, Kirsten! Wish I could join you LOL.
With solids, I just give DS carrot sticks/jacket potato pieces/cucumber sticks/brocolli (or any other favourite) at dinner time and he picks them up and eats them himself. He gets less this way than spoonfeeding him, but I can eat at the same time then which is fabulous - keeps DS quiet for half an hour or more. I can also cut up apples and pears for lunchtime and he'll munch on those too.
DH reckons he'd rather stay at home with DS than work now, yay! Could be because DS gets soooo excited to see Daddy every night. Or could be because he really dislikes his job. But DS walked over to Daddy last night. He's walking holding my fingers, but still going backwards. When do they start going forwards? (He's still not crawling, I was right in saying he was going to skip that step! He only bum-shuffled for a few inches for 3 days too.)
