Implanon is awful for causing depression, I'm sure about 90% of people who have tried it note some sort of unhappiness. It's one thing we always check for at doctor's appointments.
DS is waking a bit more atm, but I have dropped the bottle and it's not hunger, I think he's picking up on my current stress. He did between 10.30 and about 6 without feeding last night (but 2 quick 2-minute rock to sleeps). It may also be co-sleeping. He's having an early nap today, 10.30-12, as my mother is visiting and she'll want him up for her.
I'm going to try him on the walker toys at playgroup next week!
-
I've decided Jemima not getting a walker but is going to be able to use the one at kidz club and the one at my friends house........ but i am going to get her a push a long thing of some description she is so ready for it (see wobbly walking with my help video on her youtube site) i want her to be able to support her weight better so that she can work out how to old on to the bar at swimming lessons, she is not holding the bar she is more holding the side and they gotta hold the bar to get to next level....
i am going to try the 4 hourly thing.................. so starting tomorrow breakfast 7am! then we will see how we go!
-
so much for trying the 4 hourly thing today.
jemima slept all day
she woke at 6am and benji went to work about same time so by 6.30am we were having brekky
she then cried and carried on after a bfeed at 7 until i gave her baby panadol coz i thought i could see another tooth on her top gum.... so she slept from about 7.30ish until i woke her at 8 to go the gym
she latested from 8.30 until 9.15 at the gym before they had to come find me coz she was SO tired and wouldnt sleep for them
so by 9.30 i was home and she was back in bed
then i freaked out and talked to Michelle on MSN at 12.30 thinking 6 hours was a little long between feeds.... she suggested i check her temp
jemima woke when i was checking temp so i bfed her less than 45 mins later she was fast asleep again
i checked temp at 2pm and it was the same then i woke her at 3.30pm or 4pm for another bfeed and her temp was up a little but still normal!
so took her to the doc
she has a viral infection and is teething! i could have figured that out... that there were teeth coming and that she was out of sorts!
she went straght to sleep when we got home from doc at 5.30 (had to wait an hour) then woke up before 8 for another bfeed and fast asleep again!!!!
very weird
hope she is back tomorrow!!
i had a crap bfeeding experience at the doc............ these two little i'm going to say sri lanken boys were waiting with their dad, jemima wanted a feed so i fed her, with a wrap over my shoulder, i do it everywhere it doesnt faze me one bit but then i hear the boys say to eachother:
quick i have to tell you something and it's urgent
then he goes that baby is sucking on his mum
that's gross
you can see her boob
she has her boob out
that's disgusting
etc
and the father SAYS NOTHING!!!! there was perfect opportunity to tell the boys that that is the way that baby gets its food or whatever but no he just let them say/think it!
ho hum
lisa - your baby has more hair than bella and i didnt think that was possible! i saw his updated photos on his site - what a cutie!!!!!!!! first haircut soon? or lovechild look? he looks so cute and like his dad! but not really like a baby?? jemima still seems to look like a baby where as harrison looks like a little boy?
michelle - thanks for your advice today with jemima i reckon she got more sleep because of it, otherwise i may have woken her more and taken to doc earlier and broken all the sleep she got -and not tidied near as much of my house.......... just the basics way overdue!
-
Hee hee! No problem Kel. Hopefully she's back to her old happy self today! How did she sleep last night?
Don't worry about the boys or their father. Some men are just ignorant.
I remember years ago we were visiting relatives and had called into McDonald's for breakfast when Brianna yelled out (for the world to hear) "Mum! Look at that man over there! He has chicken pox!". He had really bad acne actually, and I was sooo embarrassed!
Children are just wonderful!

Hi Kel :)
Yep... Harrison certainly has a mop of hair!!! He definitely needs a haircut... but I don't want him to get one... his hair hangs down into his eyes at times... I would love to wait until his 1st birthday to get his hair cut... but by then, he might have very long hair! I just think to myself that it would be so hard to cut his hair now because he doesn't keep still!!! And, if you try to hold him still, he gets most upset.
Hi everyone :)
We're off to Newcastle to look at a house today. This will be Harrison's first real long drive... I am sure he will love it. The older kids are excited to be going away for the weekend.
Nothing much to report here... Just the same old, same old. I am going off my diet for the weekend, as it is too difficult to weigh the food and cart it along with me. My weight to date is at the weight I was pre Noah... so I am sooooo happy with that!!! I have lost just over 18kgs.
Well... we're heading off in a minute... I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend :hello:
-
Hi all!
Hey Kel, I don't even use a wrap! I just whip 'em out! Well, actually, Monkey and I have a good quick system going with minimum exposure when we are in public, but still, I can understand why it made you feel funny.
Well, we have lots of news.... Monkey has her first cold and it's been quite a doozy! She got reeeeaaalllly unsettled and had a shocking night last Sat and then Sunday we understood why when she developed the cold late Sunday afternoon. Needless to say the last several nights have been horrendous for the poor little munchkin, until last night, which fortunately wasn't too bad, as I was on my own for much of it (DH out doing his manly duty for a friends 30th!). I think she's on the end of it.... sort of....
I actually took her to Dr yesterday, partly to just check it was just a virus and we still seem to be struggling with random tummy pains and also as she hasn't gained any significant weight in the past 12 wks..... For those who aren't first-time mums, I'm sure you would have had the sense to wait a little longer, but I was just starting to worry.....
She has only gained 200g in 12 wks and absolutely nothing in the past 6wks. He assures me all is OK and there's nothing wrong with my breastmilk (one of my concerns, as I've lost MORE weight!) and thinks she's just levelling herself out, as she's quite short on the charts.... And it makes sense, as she was a big chubber... she was 95th% for weight and 35th% for height at 4months and now is 60th% for wt and still 35th% for ht at 7 months. So maybe she's just turning into the new, slender version of Monkey...... she's still beautiful in my totally unbiased eyes!
And our other news is I've started working on a Sat and DH is looking after Monkey.... so far it's working with him bringing her to me for a mid morning feed, then he is offering her some EBM which she has a bit of until I get home to finish the feed.... still not taking a whole feed from a bottle/cup, but getting there! Actually, Naomi mentioned they were using the Pigeon Mag Mag stuff, so we've tried that for milk and Monkey is liking it better than the Avent.
DD is just waking from a slightly shorter than I hoped nap!! Love to all....
-
oh, forgot to ask..... another food question.... yes, i know i'm too obssessed about the "rules", but i get nervous......
does anyone know if there is any reason why this age gp can't try mushrooms???
cheers.
-
Well, Liebs has been up all night again, even with little sleep yesterday. He wants feeds. So 3-hourly in the day and see what that brings. Going to ease off the night feeds too, just back to bed without. I do think he has been a bit hot, so off with the covers tonight.
I don't bother with a wrap either, and happily tell children that this is how a baby feeds - and that they may not remember being fed this way.
Lisa, 18kg, wtg!
As for me, I hate weaning. So much fuss to make food he then doesn't want! I thought mushrooms were OK now? DS has already had adult rice cooked with a splash of wine... he would oly eat my dinner, not his! I'm so bad at this weaning lark. He has more teeth coming too. And is awake, so I'm all disjointed, chat later!
-
i only use a wrap when i am faced with people i cant be bothered about! these children were not worth my time explaining as i knew their father was not going to support me!
the wrap is more to cover my big fat belly then my boob!!!!!
i have sick baby at the moment, now noone think i am a bad mother but she has hand, foot, mouth virus most likely and MOST LIKELY caught from kidz club at the gym
ho hum
so we are inside until at least wednesday
ho hum
jemima going to be devasted at not going out for days! and none of her baby friends can come over coz it is highly contagious
as long as she is one of the lucky ones and get few or no ulcers in her mouth i will be happy to stay inside, as the mouth ulcers are the worst part of the virus, she has every other symptom so fingers crossed, the doc said we shouldnt go out til the spots are gone so i hope that means i will be out this week! my neighbour said she would do errands for me, my house may get tidy or i may get addicted to the computer again!
ryn - how do you know pubert is weaning??? or are you weaning him??? Jemima appeared to be but then she was back to wanting both solids and milk but now with sickness and teething she is off solids totally and just bacck to milk, the doc said to try some solids again tomorrow i just got to keep fluids up to her
lisa - you rock! and your baby gorgous, mockhawk him!!! or put a bella ponytail on him, he is boyish enough no one would think he a girl!
kym - maybe the mushroom thing is a bacteria thing??? have you googled it? google is cool
here's hoping for a happier jemima tomorrow and two days in a row that she doesnt spew up every second breastfeed, we still have diarrea to play with but no spew today was nice
-
Hi girls :)
Well, I thought I'd let you all know... DH and I are expecting another precious bubba!!!
This little one has come as a bit of a shock, because we were wanting to start TTC in Jan... but I guess this bubba couldn't wait!!! lol
We wanted to have our babies close together in age, so we are so happy that our wish has been granted to us.
Harrison is going to be a big brother!!! Wow!! lol
Our bubba is due 17 May 2008
-
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
sorry jemima pressed the enter button before i was finished!
that is so so so so so so exciting!!!!!!!!! i hope it is a girl lucinderalla!
that is so cool
congratulations lisa!
jemima got another tooth yesterday and is FINALLY working out the rolling around thing, to the point she has rolled over to a box of cables and is chewing on them..... grrrrrr better go!
congratulations again! very exciting news!!!!!!!!!! i just bought the book "minus nine to 1" by Jools oliver and maybe you should get it it isa ll about her experiences with baby and being pregnant after 6 months and then life with 2 under 2!!! i got mine off ebay for less than $20 inc postage but my SIL has it permantly out from the library and swears it is awesome.
-
Thanks Kell.... I will definitely look into it.
My sister Nicole and my brother Murray are 15 months apart in age... the same age gap as Harry and this bubba will have. My Mum told me she knows I will cope... I was a little worried... I don't want to have my bubba's feel like they are missing out on anything.
-
OMG!!! Congratulations Lisa!!! How exciting - and somewhat scary at the same time!
That is wonderful news and I hope everything goes well for you.
Kel - Yay for Jemima rolling around! What a clever girl!
I'm still in two minds as to whether I want another one - I'm not getting any younger, and if I do decide to go again, I'd have to do it soon, but then there'd be two under two (I'd have to borrow that book from you Kel!). Oh decisions!!!
-
Congratulations Lisa! That is fantastic news, I am so jealous. My MiL and her late sister had 15 months apart and they were the best of friends, I think it's a great age gap. There are 16 months between two of my cousins too; they get on fantasically too.
OK, I'm off to my coffee morning now to see a tiny 2w old baby, wish me luck for not being so broody!
-
Thanks again everyone
Michelle - I was of the same mind as you... I'm not getting any younger (I'm 32 in Nov) and because I am already in a higher risk category for abnormalities, the later I leave having my last baby, the higher my risk becomes... So, as unexpected as it is, I am happy that I am having our last baby now :)
The strange but funny thing about me becoming pregnant now is that my LMP was 11 August, and it was my first AF after stopping breastfeeding Harrison... it was also the day before starting my diet... so when AF was late, I didn't think much of it... it was only that I was starting to become reeeeeeeally hungry that my best friend told me to do a test!!! I didn't think that I would be pregnant... DH and I only BD once unprotected... but as they say, it only takes 1 time!!! lol
-
HI again everyone.
I have had a very emotionally draining day.
I can't go into it all again... I have written about itHere
Take care everyone
-
noway!
oh lisa i am so sad to hear that
i know there is nothing i can say that will help make you feel better but dont forget to use us
let it all out and communicate what is going through mind
hang in there
DONT BLAME ANYONE ESPECIALLY YOURSELF
-
Oh Lisa, I am so sorry you are going through this! I'd do what you are and wait before having the D & C. Being one to always have hope, I do hope they see something at your next ultrasound - I have my fingers crossed for you.
Make sure you keep us up to date with how you are going, and PLEASE remember we are all here to support you.
-
Lisa very sad to hear your news.
Must be such incredible ups and downs for you.
I'm sending you a big, warm, sincere hug....
And ditto to what others have said... we are all here to listen.
I love Harrison's new photo on your signature - what a beach babe!!
Hope everyone else is well.
We have had a better week, despite a frustrating visit to the ECHC and a useless app't with a nurse who delighted in tut tutting me when i said we still nurse Monkey to sleep and gave me a condescending look when i said we were going to try to avoid sleep training that involved crying and distress etc.... her face said it all... "you'll end up doing it.... they all do..... blah blah blah"
Hopefully I'll have the strength to prove her wrong.... Monkey is still really hard work for us to settle and sometimes we think we can't do it anymore.... but then the sun rises again and we just do.....
-
Hi again everyone.
I have had the most confusing 48 hours!
I will paste from the other thread.
Thanks so much to everyone for your beautiful words of support and your kindness.
These have been the strangest 48hrs for my DH and I.
Today, we went to the hospital to request more bloods be taken, and for the HCG levels to be checked... then, I could make a decision regarding the D&C.
The Dr today seemed very annoyed that the other Dr told me that the baby had passed away, and to have a D&C. They said they wouldn't do it unless it was definite that there was no fetus there.
So, I had the bloods taken... and they called me back at 3:30pm to tell me that my HCG levels have doubled and are now 100. So, to them, it seems like it is a very early pregnancy... and that perhaps I ovulated late.
So now... we are in limbo again. Nothing is certain until there is a baby on the screen. I have to go to my GP on Tuesday and request another ultrasound for the end of the week... and to perhaps get some more bloods done at the end of the week too.
Ahhhh... this is so confusing!!! I just want to know where I stand... one minute, we are happy because we're having a baby... the next, we're crying because we're not having a baby... then, we want to be happy because perhaps we are having a baby... but we're not sure!
Has anyone else gone through something similar to this? Does anyone have any advice?
I am sooo sorry... I am just very confused right now.
-
i am so so so so so glad you didnt have d&c, i was thinking dont dont but i dont know alot about these things so didnt say anything
hang in there
whateva will be will be
if no bubba you can keep kicking arse with your weightloss if there is a bubba then wow!
-
Lisa I feel for you. Just take every day as it comes. Things will improve. :hugs:
El just got over her cold when she got another one. Very congested and phlegmmy. She coughs a lot and throws up her milk trying to get the phlegm out. She's doing ok. She's had some mild fevers but I've let them be as they're not very high. Hopefully it passes soon. I've given her Demazin but it didn't seem to help. The doctor said it only works in 20% of people. Fair enough then. Gotta go change her and I need brekky.
-
