jj - amber's sitting!! wow! and she'll be crawling soon.
poopy still command crawls, no sign of sitting up or crawling on all fours.
minky - i bought those mum-mums then it said for 12 mths and above.. so i havent used it yet..
is anyone giving bubs juice.. i saw nutricia's just a hint of juice thing, i dunno if it has too nuch sugar...
-
Yay Sue, have a fantastic weekend! I love Benjamin's comment - talk about making you feel appreciated!!
prama - ewww, beetroot poo! Remind me not to go there for a while. I am going to try to steer clear of juice for as long as I can, luckily DD seems happy with water and drinks heaps of it.
jen - I love that pic of Amber. She is sooo cute. Catherine has gotten on her hands and feet a couple of times but seems to have forgotten how to do it! Sooo frustrating. She is doing some pretty good sitting on her own at the moment too, and rather than learning to crawl she seems to be just rolling to get where she wants!
minky - Good to hear from you. I can't believe how grown up Noah is! I think I may have to find some disposable bibs too. I am also running out all the time and they get sooo messy. We have a mat under the high chair too but sometimes she manages to flick the food across the room, the little terror!
-
Goodmorning!
Hi Bun! Yeh those mats are great.....until bubs works out how to sneeze and cough with a mouth full of food towards the carpet thats not covered...lol..
Hi Prama! Those mum-mums go all soft pretty much when bubs bites a bit off, I dont think Noah has ever gagged on them, he gets bored with the normal rusks, but loves these ones! I had the same worries as you re: being for 12 months but when I saw a friends bub chomping away on them, I gave it a go!:D
Hi Sue! I hope you are having a brilliant weekend!!!! :):)
Hi Esma! Ooohh what a scray thought!! School!!! :(:( This time last year and we were pregnant!! Where has the year gone??
OKay better go, the washing machine is beeping madly at me....I dont think its happy..lol
-
Hi Prama, I havent tried the juices yet...might have a look at them though just to get an idea of whats available, will prob stick with water for a bit longer..
Hi Jen, has Amber gotten back up on her knees ? I love watching them try, they look so cute!!
Hope you have all had a great weekend! We had a lazy one again...

Hello lovely gorgeous mummies.
I'm still here just not very good at popping in.
Alex and I are doing great, but I'm battling at the moment and despite the fact I know I am doing a good job I feel like I am failing as a mum, a partner, a daughter and a friend; a LOT of the time, so I am trying to take things day by day. My patience is wearing very thin and I feel horrible.
We are still breastfeeding, but I am struggling. I want to breastfeed, but I don't feel good about it anymore. I'm just hoping it's a temporary thing. Last night I desperately needed a break so he had his first lot of formula. I think, I achieved a lot exclusive for six months and three weeks so I should be proud, and now if I have to comp feed to keep me sane and give me some me time once eveyr now and then maybe it is a good tool to helping with my PND, I am not sure.
We have two teeth, the second one took about three weeks of teary days, nights and misery to finally cut through, but it's here.
Alexander is enjoying solids to bits, but I have slowed down a bit as I think it has been making him sleep worse, the last three nights has been better so we'll see how things go. He will still have something if he sees us eating though otherwise he screams. He is getting rather good at throwing tantrums already .
Finally got our first roll at 5 1/2 months and I think in total it has probably happened ten times - he also took to crawling backwards, but stopped that too. He sits up which he enjoys but for the rest of it he seems a lot like he is just waiting until he can get on his feet and go.
Sorry for the selfish post, i feel like thats what im always doing in here. Will try come in more frequently again. Hope all the mum bubbas are well
-
ash - you have done a fantastic job bf-ing alexander!!! i didnt manage to do much at all, still doing bf abt twice, three times a day, just to keep going. I think my PND isnt helping my bf...
is comp feeding giving you a bit more rest as anthony can feed him too?
sounds like he's going to be doing rolling, crawling and sitting all at the same time!!!
looking fwd to seeing you in Nov.
take care lots of love,
-
Crikey Ash, 6 months bf exclusively is FANTASTIC!!! You out did me by 4 months....hahaha....good on you babe! Make sure you do whats right for you too, dont feel guilty about giving him a formula feed if you need too... It sounds like Alexander is a gorgeous lil bub!! With two teeth!!! Nice!!
Take Care!!

Hi all
Boy o boy have I been slack. I have been managing to read all of your posts and have been keeping up with you all but haven't seemed to get the time to post.
Firstly immunisations threw DS for a bit with unsettled sleeping, waking heaps every night then he cold a terrible cold which developed into croup so you can imagine how bad his sleeps were and DH and I were exhausted then my parents came for a visit from Sydney and then we renovated the kitchen and family area so poor little bubs didn't know whether he was coming or going.
I was rocking, patting etc etc him to sleep all the time and now seems to have forgotten how to self settle so trying desperately to sort that out. I can't bear to leave him to cry so god only knows how I can fix it.
DS has managed to do a bit of rolling - back to front - but no idea how to get back again. Gets a bit whingy so I put him back only for him to roll again. No teeth yet. Sits really well unsupported but partial to the odd face plant ! He is a real chatterbox at the moment and loves squealing and laughing. Friends told me that 6 - 9 months is a great age and I totally agree.
DS is loving solids and having 3 meals a day and I am still breastfeeding. Still having 3 sleeps a day but occasionally only has 2 and is staying awake sometimes over 3 hours. Had him weighed at 7months and he was 9.3kgs (my back and upper body is sore most of the time from lifting !)
That's us in a nutshell.
Sorry for long post and no personals I am way too far behind but will keep up from now (I promise)
.
-
Prama you should be so proud to be stll going, I know how much you struggled at the start, I'm so thrilled for you that you kept it up - that is really inspiring, congratulations!
I am hoping that the occasional FF will give me a much needed break... I don't know what's normal but I have spent less than five hours away from Alexander since he was born... which I'm guessing isn't really that much. The other bonus is that it will be good to know I can enjoy my birthday dinner and drinks on Saturday and not worry about expressing / BAC of breastmilk, as he takes to the bottle and back to the breast just fine.
Minky, Noah is looking gorgoeus!! Is that curly hair? What a cutie!!!
Jacki - Sorry to hear about losing the self-settling, we seem to be seeing that too. He's not too bad, but there are sometimes when i have to hold his hands and pat him until he sleeps. Immunisastions drive me freaking bonkers because they always come at a time where we finally have a nice, solid routine going. Nice weight!! Alex was 8kg at 6 months.
Don't they pack it on the second they start solids? LOL! Alex has the chubbiest little legs and feet it's so cute and poke-able! :cryinglaugh:
-
Hey girls, good to see everyone's bubs are doing so well!!!!! And the pics! Oh my we have cuties in here! Prama, that beetroot poop was soooo funny. My girls haven't even tried it yet! Oh well. Solids 3 times a day here. One tooth. Second almost thru and I'm lucky, he's not fussy when teething. He's sitting very very well and lowers himself onto his tum when he wants to. He moves forward and backwards a little commando style, but I wouldn't say commando crawling just yet.... My fave thing is he claps and sings to himself and along with me when we sing songs. Sooo cute! He's still a ranga boy and I LOVE it!!!
Wow at the acheivements of these little ones hey?!
And I so hear u on PND prama and Ash. I am suffering too. Am on Cipramil and god has it helped! The world is not a dark place I have to hide from or run away from anymore. I can't explain how dark and useless things felt before. Am so greatful to be feeling better. I hope things get better for u both *hugest hugs*
-
kerrie - so good to hear from you!!
bryce is a clever boy! i cant get lakshman to clap yet, he just gets excited when i clap and flaps his arms everywhere.
PND - thanks, ive joined the depression and anxiety thread and it's so nice to talk to otehr mum who are going thru the same thing.
jacki - yeah, lakshman's routine was allover the place, we are slowly getting him back, hope soon. my bet is that as soon as he's back, he will change again.
ash - enjoy your time out!! I still havent had a good drink yet. cos he's been unsettled at night lately, i havent had a drink, as i was bf-ing in the middle of the night to soothe him. but he's getting better at night, so would love a drink soon. ive only taken a sip once or twice, and had a drink on the flight back, cos i just sooo wanted it, and lakshman slept thru it..
now im thirsty!! lol and it's 3.30 in the afternoon!
-
Ash - enjoy the birthday drinks this weekend. You definately deserve a couple.
I am a bit partial to having a half a glass of wine with my dinner at night. I feed DS around 7.30pm and then don't feed him again until around 7.00am so guess that's OK.
Hey Kerrie - good to see you. Bryce sounds like he is going great with his crawling and singing and clapping. DS is only just really starting to be aware of his body and realising he can do more than just lay on his back. However I am in NO hurry for him to start crawling etc.
-
Hi all!
Welcome back Kerrie and Jacki!!! Good to hear from you! So cute that Bryce is already singing and clapping to the music. Jasper really likes his music, but is not clapping/singing yet. Luke is a bit more laid back by the sounds of it; at least you know he stays where you put him down!
Ash enjoy your birthday party!!! Have a couple for me too... I haven't had a drink since falling pregnant and I am really hanging out for a good glass of wine.
Jasper's night sleeps seem to be improving (had 12 hours again last night) but his daysleeps are all over the place. He sometimes sleeps for up to 2.5 hours but most of the time only 0.5 hours. So the no. of sleeps he has depend on how long he sleeps. Very difficult to work around his sleeps. He loves his rice cereal at the moment but he doesn't eat unless he can touch the food first, so we do have a mess whenever he eats. I am a bit reluctant to go to two meals a day, because all we would be doing is feeding and cleaning.. How are you going with the solids Prama? Does it get easier? I am not sure whether I should wait a little before introducing the second meal or do it anyhow and just go out less? Or keep going out and wait till feeding becomes a little easier and less messy.
Sue - How was your weekend???!!! Did DH learn to do the housework ;)?
Hope you all have a nice day!
Esther

Hi Everyone,
I had a great time away, bought some beautiful things for summer!! Really enjoyed the day spa would love to do it again very soon. We seemed to be more tired than normal and had early nights Friday and Saturday but we stayed right on Spencer ST so it was very noisy so didn't get a good solid sleep.
DH DID NOT DO THE HOUSEWORK GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I have posted a thread on this to vent so I won't repeat myself.
Esme -- DD is all over the place with her daysleeps as well. I am lucky to get 2 hours in the morning and then she will have two short naps for the rest of the day. She is very chatty and happy, loves being on the floor and is rolling everwhere, I have to be really careful with the boys toys as she can get them now. Nicholas loves giving her matchbox cars he he.
We are on solids twice a day here, i am thinking of introducing lunch. She is getting better at eating but loves having the spoon herself and feeding herself! The boys were like birds they just sat there an opened their mouths lazy buggers he he.
Great to hear from you Jacki, Katkins, and hello to everyone else.
Sorry have to go get Dinner ready
BBL if I get a chance
Ash -- Have a great birthday weekend. Its a long time since I was 21 but I had a fantastic party and still remember it sooooo enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sue - yaay!! for having a good time away!!! do you feel re-energised? tho, would have sucked big time coming back to a messy house. Benjamin was right wasn't he...
the other day, i had lakshman on my chest, bum on chest and legs wrapped around my neck and was talking to him. he kept bringing his head closer and closer to mine with such a loving look, i thot he was going to give me a kiss, but no.... he tried to gobble my nose!!!
time for beddy byes.

-
LOL Prama, Jasper started doing that a couple of days ago too! And lovely sloppy 'kisses' on the cheek :). Soooo cute!
-
I get HUGE sloppy drooly wide open mouthed kisses.
He has to be in the right kind of mood, but if he is sitting up when i say cuddles he leans in for a cuddle and kisses he goes for the sloppy smooch. It's very cute, and I think it's something I can reflect on as our first communicatrion breakthrough IYKWIM - because he knows!
I put some photos on facebook of him doing in, one of the photos my whole cheek is glistening with slobber :p

i posted a reply earlier but bb ate it...
lol - i feel like gonzo fr sesame street!!
i love those sloppy kisses!
ash - love those piccies!!! gorgeous!!
-
Ash, wonderful pics hon!!!! Ur lil man reaqlly does love u!!!
Thos kisses are so special aren't they? My lil man only gives them to me. Nanna was down last week and she took over most of the taking care of him but when I left for work, I picked him up for a goodbye cuddle and he gave me heaps of those kisses and cuddles. He pulled my hair so I couldn't stop him kissing me (not that I would have, but YKWIM, he used my hair to pull me in for the kisses) sooooooo cute! And so nice to feel so loved isn't it?!!!
-
Love your pics Ash; brought tears to my eyes!!!Soooo nice when they show they love you...
-
Gorgeous pics Ash!!!!!!! :) :)
-
Beautiful photos Ash.
I just love the slobby wet kisses. It makes me laugh when DS gets my chin in his mouth .
How is everyone going with solids. I am not too sure if I am offering enough. I know at 6 months the suggestion was to work up to around 3 tablespoons but now bubs is 7.5 months and I am offering more but I am not too sure whether I should be offering a lot more - I am very wary of him reducing his milk intake too much. I am still BF prior to solids. Thoughts anyone ??
After immunisations, a bad cold, visitors and renovations DS sleep was just getting worse and worse and dispite all efforts to get back on track was not improving. It was getting to the point of waking up every 1.5 hours every night. DH and I agreed (very reluctantly) to try a bit of CC - boy o boy do I feel like a bad mumma. So very stressful time in my house at the moment
-
jacki - our nurse told us give them about 3 tablespoons at least, but give them as much as they want. poopy usually takes around 3-4tablespoons, sometimes less. it's a bit hard to tell really. i'm also wary about giving too much solids and too little milk, as he's cutting down his milk now. but the nurse also told us, they will slowly reduce their milk and by 12 mths solids will be their main source of food.
-
Hi Everyone,
ASH -- How was your Birthday????? Hope you had a great night. Love your facebook pictures.
Jacki-- DD barely has 1 tbs at the moment but with the boys I seemed not to be able to give them enough solids he he. I think around 4 tablespoons of solids is enough then maybe offer something different fruit, rusk etc.
CC is tough. It is hard when they are all out of whack you sound like you have been very busy. I felt like a bad mumma when I did it as well, but we are just trying to let them know they need to sleep. In my experience after a short time they do gradually get used to going to sleep on their own. If not then maybe something else is going on like teeth or growth spurt etc. Big Hugs to you:hug:
Prama- My MCHN told me that also.
My DH has got a week off so we are finishing some stuff outside ( making garden beds, paths etc) and then having some family time. We are off to the Zoo one day and maybe to mini golf another day. The boys are having a sleepover at Grandma & Poppy's one night which will be great!!!
Have a good week everyone
Sue

Ash, those photos are so beautiful. Your gorgeous little boy clearly loves you to bits! You are doing a great job as a mummy and have a gorgeous, healthy, happy little boy to show for it. I am very proud of you! And happy birthday!
kat - good to see you! I am glad to hear you are going well, you must be so busy with your brood! DD has just learnt to clap too and it's hilarious - she thinks she is so clever! She now moves around in her cot when she sleeps and whenever I go in to get her, she is upside-down facing the wrong way with her head right up against the cot wrungs, clapping and laughing at me! She totally cracks me up right now. I am glad to hear that DS is a good teether, I am still waiting for teeth here and hoping against hope she will be one of those babies who teeth without too much trouble too!
We are still really struggling with solids, I think is is getting worse! Before I could trick her to eat by giving her an arrowroot or piece of fruit or bread and whenever she opens her mouth, I would shove a spoonful in, but now she has cottoned on to that and closes her mouth as soon as she sees the spoon coming! The only thing she will let me feed her is avocado. Everything else has to be finger food that she can feed herself. The mess is getting ridiculous - I had peas ALL OVER my floor last night, but there is just no other way to feed her! I have tried everything, but I think that is just the way she is!
jacki - sorry to hear about the sleep problems, it is really hard when you have to do that, I know. We got the point where we had no choice but to leave her and it killed me. I hope he starts to get better soon, you poor things.
sue - I am glad to hear you had such a good weekend away, it sounds like you deserved it! That is so typical of a boy, not doing the housework! The one time I thought my DH may do some housework was while I was in hospy having DD, but no, he still didn't do it! Grrrr, men...
esme - I totally hear you on the mess, glad to know that it is not just my DD who is a difficult feeder! I am now trying 2 solid meals a day, even though it drives me crazy having to clean up so often. I have to clean the entire high chair, the floor, change ALL DD's clothes, and often mine, and this is after each feed! I am not sure how much gets in her mouth, but I think much less than what ends up all over us! All the other bubs at my mothers group are on 3 feeds a day and going great, whereas I am not game to try lunch as I can't feed her when out anyway because of the mess. It makes me feel like a bad mum when all the other bubs have their lunch at mothers group each week, and DD just gets a BF but there is just no point! Hopefully they will start to get the hang of it soon. Some days I get really depressed trying to feed her as it seems so pointless and messy, but I persevere nonetheless.
Hi to everyone else :)
-
Hi all!
Bun - good on you for persevering with two meals per day! We are still only doing lunch and I just don't worry about it when we go out. Last week he refused everything by pushing the spoon away and closing his mouth, this got me very frustrated so I decided to give it a break for a week.
Tried it again monday and he actually ate his rice cereal again! I discovered that I have to make it with EBM though... which is a bit of a pain since I don't have a pump and hand expressing is sometimes difficult to get enough. Might have to get myself a pump. He also slept really well again last couple of nights whereas before he would be crying in his sleep just about every hour and a half. So I am not really sure what is causing what...
Jacki - it does make you feel bad, but CC worked for us. Jasper now gets himself off to sleep even if he wakes up in the night (if he doesn't need a feed); he maybe grizzles for a couple of minutes, but then falls asleep again most of the time. So it is hard but if you stick with it and be consistent they pick up on it real quick and everyones night (Luke's too) will be so much better. Hope it wil get easier soon :hugs:.
Sue - enjoy your week of family time; the weather is so nice overhere too, we spent most of the weekend in the garden! Jasper got to meet the dogs and cats and they had a nice play together. Lucky the dogs are very good and protective of him.
Hi to everyone else!
-
hi girls,
quick Q:
what's the best way to clean bub's ears?
-
Hi Prama, I usually use a cloth around my finger and wipe his ears out with that. I think you can buy baby cotton buds...
-
Sorry, posted twice. Didn't realise the new post started the next page....
-
when it comes to food, Bry is a piggy! He eats a full jar each sitting. And that's the big jars! Or if it's something we've cooked up for him, it a bowl full. And he still has a full bottle an hr afterwards. He LOOOOOVES his food. But he's been on solids since 3.5m. He's grizzling now with his second tooth. The gum is so swollen I don't blame him. Prama, I use a baby ear bud moistened slightly. Works a treat and no need to scrub.
Bun, Catherine sounds like a real gem. She sounds like she's full of mischief hehehe. How cute!
Hope everyone's doing well. I'm toddler less for a few days. So going to make the most of it. And rest!
Love to all!!
-
hi girls.
thanks, i was a bit worried aout using cotton buds as i was told it would push the ear wax further in.
eekk. bbl poopy;s off somewhere he shouldnt be...
-
thanks for the advice on the food question. I think I was missing DS signals that he was well and truly ready for more food. I gave him more for B'fst lunch and dinner today and he was woofed it all down.
Sue, Bun and Esme - thanks for the support on the CC. DS sleep is definately improving after just a couple of days. He want down tonight without a sound. He has been sleeping about 11 hours with one dummy call during the night (with a bit of crying).
Bun - hand in there with the solids. You struggle and struggle and persevere and then one day DD will open her mouth and you won't be able to get the food in quick enough for her which will put you in a panic and running to the freezer to get more !
-
Kerrie - enjoy your well deserved break - I have no idea how you manage with 3 !
-
Woohoo!!! Jasper had some yoghurt yesterday and he loved it!!! The first food beside rice cereal he actually likes and wants more of!
-
That's great Esme. I can't seem to get DS to eat it. I have been adding to to fruit and rice cereal in the morning and slowly increasing how much is in there. Yoghurt is definately one of the foods that I really want him to like. What type of yoghurt did you give Jasper??
-
we use Vaalia Baby's First Yoghurt and Yoplait baby yoghurt
-
Jacki - I gave him the Jalna Vanilla. It is all natural, full fat, set in the jar (all probiotics still alive) and doesn't have sugar or artificial sweeteners yet isn't too sour. It is quite expensive, but at least I have a good excuse to buy it now Jasper eats it too (I absolutely love it...)!
-
yummm.
i love the jalna vanilla, i used to eat it all the time when i was at work and there was a coles nearby. i cant seem to get it at woolies.
it's really yummy.
-
I bought some Mundella pot set yoghurt tonight and will try that tomorrow. Its is natural though so maybe he won't like it - i'll add plenty of fruit. If I still have no luck will try a vanilla yoghurt next.
DS is now on 3 meals a day and eating a fair bit at each feed. For those whose bubs are eating well how many breastfeeds (or formula feeds) are you giving now ?? I think DS is just about ready to drop a breastfeed but not too sure if this is the right age or should I reduce solids ??
-
Hi Everyone,
My baby girl said MUM today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes it was Mum MUM MUM I had tears. Apparently DH has been saying Mum Mum Mum all the time. I walked into her room and she smiled and laughed and just said it. Extra special cuddles for DD I think she thought I had gone a bit mental he he. She is sitting up so well and gets grumpy if she is lying on the floor for too long, but is happy as larry sitting up playing with her toys.
She is still really only having solids twice a day but is getting much better at eating, I haven't tried her on yoghurt yet still working on the vegies and fruit.
We are off to the Zoo tomorrow should be fun.
Have a great weekend
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS he he
Sue
