hi there
sorry been mia for a while, i have been reading but not posting, cause i really don't have much to say lol (unusal for me i know lol)
sherie and christy - ohh those little monkeys having sleeping problems.
oh and christy sorry i did have a giggle at the poo episode, that would be a nice embarrising story to tell one day lol
hi to everyone else, hope you and your bubs are going well
dh has the flu and jay and lani have the sneezes and snots starting, so i guess i will get it in the next few days, along with af i am guessing, oh well thems the breaks.
as i said nothing much else, have stopped tt lani, she suddenly has decided she doesn't want to wee on the loo now, so i am not fussing and will try again later in the year, she has done well considering my other two weren't trained until 3yrs. main thing for me i guess is that i have finally turned off her monitor at night, dh could hear her if she woke and i am sure if she did cry and we didn't hear her, then if it went on for more than a few minutes jay would come and tell me. i don't know why it has taken this long with jay i had no monitor from about 15mths and his bedroom is further.
lani is going really well with her talking, very cute. doing sentances now and loves to do the abc always ends with hands in the air saying hooray. she loves going to school, can't get her out of the classroom in the mornings, somedays she runs in and sits on jays knee at the end of the day and just sits quietly listening to his teacher. his teacher is great she doesn't seem to mind and it is more of a distraction if i keep going in to get her.
tantrums are HUGE tho, she is a real drama queen (i tell you i am gunna have my hands full when she is a teenager) she just loves to stamp her feet and through herself down on the ground, she is slowly learning that it doesn't get her anywhere.
eating - still pathetic, she probably eats 3 nights a week a little bit of dinner most nights she just looks at her plate pushes it away and says no, and then quite happily sits there watching us eat - strange child. i am looking at getting her onto a multivitamin, not sure tho - do any others use vitamins. i have used them for jay since he was around 3yrs of age and they made the world of difference to him, he still has one every morning even tho his appetite is bigger than mine. just don't know if lani is to young for them, i might give my gp a ring and ask her, that's if she will tell me over the phone, i will probably have to make an appointment.
anyway must go and catch up on a few things, hope you are all well and i will chat again soon
I use a "child care" vitamen when we are all run down & the kids at day care are unwell. Matilda missed the last 2 bugs that went through and I think thats because I was using it with her.
Michelle- Pentavite was one they used to get yo to add to their cows milk if they went on it bf they were 1, to make sure they were getting them, it was just in liquid form. I'd ask at the chemist they will know whatis ok. I don't think there is anything wrong with giving the vitamins, at least you will have peace of mind that if she isn't getting stuff from her food she is still getting the vitamins. I am lad to hear from you, hope you don't get the cold too.
Jemma's eyes are cleared up. It is gymnastics tomorrow amnd we have chicken pox injection for Jess so she will not be happy with me. But we will all be tired tomorrow. Got another full busy week, after a flat out weekend, all I feel like doing now is resting so I am going to sit with my dh on the couch, maybe have a cuddle, he will wonder if I am sick I reckon lol
have a nice day tomorrow everyone
Wow, it's very quiet in here, everyone's families keeping them busy?
Things are going pretty well here atm. I am loving Kaleb's age now, probably highlighted by Freya's presence and how much I struggle with the baby stage. His speaking is coming on even more, and he is now singing bits of songs which is very cute. I try to go to the park for a bit every day, he loves it and it wears him out, making him that little bit more manageable, but it's hard to run around after him with Freya in the sling. Especially when he climbs up a fort with an open side. We're having fun checking out different parks though, finding which ones are toddler friendly.
Had an interesting experiment on Saturday with his sleeping...normally he has his nap at midday, but we had rellos over from the UK and were going to a pub for a family do at midday. Couldn't get him to sleep before we went, so crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. Needless to say he was feral, crying and running around wildly. I felt terrible because it was our fault that he was like this, we were the ones keeping him up, but most of the family was telling us we should give him a good smack, that he was out of control etc. Well, that put me in a great mood for the rest of the day! Apparently he will be "walking all over us by the time he's 5" unless we start smacking him. Grrrrr. Anyway, sorry for the vent, I know it's just one of those things we have to deal with as parents, people pushing their views on us!
Hope you and your little ones are all well!
Jo- makes your blood boil doesn't it when people feel like imparting their wisdom on you re your child's behaviour. If he had slept he would have been ok, and it is annoying that hey can't get that. So glad things are going well and Ikwym about open sides on equi[ment it is almost heart stopping watching them sometimes isn't itLOL
well Jess and I went to Kinder for duty today with Jemma and we were all exhausted by 12am, lol you'd think it was 6 hrs instead of 3 lol. We have had a busy few days with BIL down for a mates funeral and I ahve just been totally flat out for weeks. Jess's bday is coming like a freight train, as is Jordans (2 weeks later) and then I am starting to feel xmas sneaking up too. I am going to have to sit down and make a plan of what I want. So I don't overspend. Josh is a t a friends straight after school today and Jordan has sport until 4.25. So I don't have to do school pick up. Arron has an appt early in the morning over the other side of the city and so is sleeping at his cousins tonight, which leaves me single parenting, how lucky am I? And bc of the funeral and his brother being down he was very ****ed last night, drank all arvo and night. I am very tired but sure that I will still stay up late even though he isn't herelol
I am going to ring my gf, her dh is always away thurs nights and maybe have tea at her place tonight. I could clean the house but can't be bothered/. Also at some stage have to embroider a towel with for Jordans friends bday pres, just a name so no big deal, won't take long at all, but she told the girl about it and she wants a pink towel with BLACK writing....11 yolds can be painful lol. So maybe I should do the towel and then start picking everyone up from all around.
Hope you are all well, haven't heard from Kellee or Mel for awhile, hpe they are well, and Jessica too.
Hi to everybody
Hi Michelle & Jo!! I have been busy lately & tired....
Jo I can't believe that people have the gall to say stuff like that. Grrr...gets me so cranky when I hear that. We often have to plan or rearrange things because I would rather not have a screaming monster on my hands due to being overtired. Matilda is great usually when we are out, its just not during nap time.
Michelle... I can't imagine doing the single parent thing with so much to do around you!
sorry ive been MIA again!!
i have been popping in to read posts but between computer problems, bad sinus, a friend having a baby, XDP birthday & eliana starting kindermusik & gymbaroo ive been busy - we had a great day at seaworld for eliana's dad's birthday - she loved all the animals & was good considering she didnt have a sleep till after 4pm - we are enjoying kindermusik (her nan is paying for that) but gymbaroo just isnt what i thought it would be like - it has too much mat time with singing & a mum there has triplets so the teachers spend all their time with one each - anyway im trying to get out of taking her there & have asked for a refund & then i will put eliana in childcare on a monday - i used to work in a centre & visited the other day my two good friends would be elianas teachers so i think it will be good for her to socialise with others without me around & give me some "me time" i badly hurt my knee pumping up eliana's ball pit/castle & can't bend it without excruiating pain - turns out i have a kind of sports injury which is a joke cause im the most unsporty & just have to rest & ice it which is fun with a toddler though eliana is cute & comes & pats my knee & says mummy ouch - we are off to bris this weekend for one of eliana's little friends birthday - they are having a petting farm come so that will be fun - that's about it for us - will make sure i really really try & keep up with everything!
Hi Christy, I can imagine how tired you are not long now though, you are almost 3/4 of the way there. And you're right, kids don't always fit the schedule that others plan. If you know your child is going to miss a sleep then you can guarentee they will be misbehaving.
Mel- wow you do sound busy, your poor knee hope it feel better very soon! Yay at the kindermusik but bummer bout gymbaroo. What a shame, but the childcare sounds good and with people you trust too. And you do need some you time. Like me tonight, I was a freak when it was 8.50 and Josh and Jemma were still carrying on and out of bed, I turn into the hulk!!lol
Sewn some cute bibs tonight, trying to get a heap of samples together and then will put some stuff out for sale. Still waiting on my website lol, better be soon!!!
Hello girls!!
So many posts! It's been a while since I was online.
Jo - yes, looking fwd to Switzerland but also sad about leaving London... I kinda am apprehensive about having to start all over again and having to find my way around, etc. BUT DH has promised that this will be the last move before returning to Oz, so I feel a bit more energised to make an effort and meet ppl. I have already signed up the kids to a swimming class and am hoping to join the local triathlon club.
Poor Kaleb and the burst ear drum! That sounds so horrible! Poor munchkin! I would have been in tears too! Hope it's all fine now!
Arrrrrrg on the rellos telling you to smack him! What garbage!
Nickbrad - DH is in asset management, as am I. We run our own biz and are basically moving our whole business.
The story of Mackenzie's first poo is so cute! It's weird how excited we get about TT, huh? I am sure all my friends without babies are totally grossed out, lol!
Michelle - we are moving our own business out of tax reasons. Much more attractive tax rates in Switzerland!! And for the business it doesn't really matter whether we are in Switzerland or London as everything is done over the Internet. We could have stayed in London but DH said to me that if we got to Switzerland, we could return to Oz in 5 years, whereas staying in London would double that... so it was an easy sale :D
Glad to hear Jemma's eye finally cleared up!
Arrrg on the car accident!
Christy - what a stupid suggestion to sedate her! It's not like that would fix the problem!
Arg on the poo everywhere.... so glad Wolf still doesn't know how to take his nappies off
Mooshie - nope, not using any vitamins. I must say I am not a big fan of them... Wolf eats a few fruit purees a day, so am hoping he gets enough vitamins from that... Am glad he likes peas... at least one veggie ...
Well, Zara has been sitting since 4 august (one day after my last post):_ I just sat her up while I was emailing and she didn't fall over for like 20 mins! haven't looked back since... just sits there happily and very rarely falls over. Wolf toppled over a lot I remember but she's really good with either catching or rolling herself instead. I think being skinny helps.
She has not been eating well which is a bit of a concern... she is so skinny as it is! She hardly drinks 80ml... maybe just a small stomach and now that I am weaning her and switching to formula I notice more how much (little) she eats?
Wolf is just chattering away like crazy. He loves to shout "COME BACK!" if one of us leaves the room or "Don't want it" if he doesn't want to eat or have something... lol. So cute. Very demanding little bugger.
Other than that am having a bit of a nightmare with the ILs at the moment re. our nanny. They have basically said that they don't want us to bring her and SIL has said she won't come round and visit us if we bring her and that we are only allowed to visit them if we don't bring her. I am  steaming. It's none of their business really how we organise our live and it's not like they would chip in to enable me to run our business or do some sport. SIL hardly ever came round last time we were there and MIL whinges about being the babysitter everytime we ask her to watch the kids, so I am not really sure what they are expecting us to do. My mom thinks it's so rude of them and I am just glad my own mom sees it the same way as me.
Snowy
Wow, everyone is so busy (myself included). Snowy you make me feel so guilty, you have a move on your plate and you still manage to write a novel and answer everyone individually - you put me to shame. Yay for Zara, sitting up - little smarty pants. Re your Nanny - take her with you. As you mentioned it's not like the IL's help out in any way so why not? Is you SIL jelous of you - is that why she is so nasty about it? I agree with you and the kids will appreciate it too i'm sure. Nothing worse either if you don't and then get there and have to find a new one.
Hi to everyone - will try and be more active next week. Have a great weekend and Mel hope your knee is on the improve.
Nikki
Hi all, hope you're having a good Friday!
Snowy, grrrrr at the ILs, what is it they have against your nanny? Yay for Zara sitting up! That is so cute with Wolf's talking. I love hearing Kaleb's new words & phrases. He waves and says "see you soon" now whenever he is getting out of the bath, the car, the shops etc. So how long now till you move?
Mel, you poor thing, hope your knee gets better soon! It must be very hard with Eliana to chase after! That's great re: the childcare, and knowing who will look after her, what a bonus. Bummer about the Gymbaroo. Sounds like the play/gym thing I was taking Kaleb to at the PCYC - the running around and using equipment part was great, but the sitting in a circle and singing songs was a nightmare, there is no way that he would keep still. Hope you have fun in Brissie this weekend, apparently we're having a hot one - 27deg on Sunday.
Hey Christy, I bet you are on the countdown now, no wonder you are tired. You are spot on ... Kaleb loves being out & about too, but I don't think I'll attempt it during a sleep time again.
Michelle, LOL at the 11 year olds being painful. The son of our visiting rellos is 11...we were standing there chatting and he turns around to me and says "are you pregnant again?"...I said no, he said "I thought it was a bit soon, but you just looked like you are". Well, I had a laugh and explained that it takes a bit for your tummy to get back to normal after a baby, but now I am feeling a bit self-concious. I know I shouldn't listen to a 11yo boy, but still... Anyway, sounds like you have been mega busy, as usual! I always think, geez, you must be so organised!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Jo organised choas maybe !! LOL, pmsl at that 11 yr old, they think they know just about everything by that age pmsl.
Snowy- sounds like the 5 yrs vs 10yrs is a good choice. I too wondered what it was the IL's have against your nanny? Did something happen to make them feel that way, or is it her personally? Seems odd to cary on like that really. And it is hard to work at home and look after kids, I know!! I do most of my stuff when Arron gets home or at nights and weekends too.
Well arron and I went out for tea tonight, stupid SIL is down as she and MIL are flying to mackay tomorrow to visit BIL and SIL to be. * days, wow are they going to rev the heads of BIL AND SIL!! I just laugh. At least they are lucky cos they live so far away lol
I went to the linen party this arvo and brought my grape sheet am going to put my new doona cover on tonight, will look fabulous I know. I love new linen! MIL proceeded to tell me that the tee towels I brought were too big and I should cut them in half, I am hardly going to cut them in half, for a start they will fray and plus they cost $22 for 5, why would I spend that on them and then cut them, if I wanted ****y little towels I could buy them from anywhere. My little girls were in bed by 8.30, SIL put them to bed, I am sure she did it just to show that she could, cos Jordan was saying that the girls were both crying their eyes out as she was doing it lol. I was ****ed off with her and MIL cos Arron brought a whole bag full of jewelery (costume stuff) home from his cousins fiance, for Jordan and MIL and SIL were here when he got it out, SIL starts sifting through looking for stuff she could take and MIL says Oh maybe you could give your aunty some Jordan! Or mauybe there is something I might want. Now I am not sure but wouldn't you think they could let an 11 yr old have the stuff without tryiong to guilt her into giving them it. Then she said maybe your mum will want something and I said NO IT WAS GIVEN TO HER! Arron then said no it was all jordans and then jordan went to her room with it. SIL followed her there and whinged about wat it was she wanted and Jordan ended up letting her take it. So I am ****ed off. SIL is 27, I mean that is just ****ing ridiculous. But most of all I am ****ed with IL cos she wanted some too and wanted SIL to have some, they are ****ing so stupid , phew!! sorry girls just riles me up
anyway I am home tomorrow and then going scrapping at rayrays on sunday which will be ever so exciting. Can't wait. Trying to sew atm but not getting far as I am here lol
have a great weekend everyone
I had to laugh at this. I had a similar experience of htis when Erin was only about 5 weeks old I think, but it came from one of DH's mates and he asked me if I was pg again, and I told him "I hardly think so" and he was like"but you look like you are a few months" and I then said "Um, Erin is only 5 weeks old" He is so vague LOL.:

Michelle, that would make me so cranky (and that's being nice). Are you sure your SIL is 27? Sounds to me like she is about 5 LOL. I have an aunty like that, she hates it when we get stuff given to us and she misses out and will drop hints about it.
Anyway, Paige has been sick the last week or so, first with a cold, then conjunctivitis and now a middle ear infection (Otis Media) she is coping extremely well and I have only had to give her pain relief the morning she woke up with it. She is on antibiotics too.
A big hello to everyone else!
Sherie- poor Paige, hope it clears up quickly. Jess ahs aa runny nose but so far not progressing into mch else. Well thing is my SIL does have a slight problem mentally which her parents didn't want to recognise. ANd she wnats to act grownup when it suits her and then be a spolit child when that suits her. SHe will prob never change, but MIL makes her worse by allowing her to get her own way all the time and also making others make allowances for her too. So it has gotton to the stage where SIL plays the game to suit herself. And MIL is the biggest sucker in the universe and will give her anything at the drop of a hat. IL's didn't realise what they were creating and now it is too late, she is a manipulative person who thinks she can bully everybody into doing what she wants, thing is it doesn't work with me which is why she doesn't like me much, but no great loss to me thats for sure.
anyway best get going gotta organise some photos and do some things, had a knock on the door from the new neighbours, they have been given a key from the real estate agent but it doesn't open the door and so they were trying to figure out a way to get intouch with the agent, luckily I know the head guys wife, so I have called them and will he is going to call the agent at home to help them out.
My gosh, I haven’t posted in here for so long! I’m really sorry about that. I miss hearing everyone’s news and I have tried to check in here from time to time but I never get very far. I might not be very good at doing personals because I have pages and pages to catch up on, but I’ll try a few…
Mooshie – that is so cute about Lani sitting on Jay’s knee at school. I’m not sure what it would be like to have a kid that doesn’t eat – I suppose that you gotta figure that she’d eat if she was hungry, right?
Christy – hope the pregnancy is going well. It’s going so fast! Does it feel that way for you?
Mitch – LOL at DH thinking you were sick giving him a cuddle! I don’t get to do that much anymore either. I took a few minutes to make out with DH at Charlie’s party today while neither of us were holding children – barely remembered what that was like! And ggrrr at your outlaws… what is it with inlaws? Why do they have to make life difficult all the time? They’re all the same, aren’t they? Sherie is right – SIL sounds like a 5 yo. Idiot.
Jo – don’t worry about venting. I would have wanted to give THEM a good smack! Oh well, at least you know how much he needs his sleep now, right? We did a similar thing with Charlie a while ago with similar consequences, so don’t feel too bad! Now we know to always plan things with Charlie’s sleep in mind, and we’ve had to insist on it with family and friends (especially the childless ones who don’t know what it’s like!). You do what’s best for you guys – your little family is your No. 1 priority, especially for the early years. Looking forward to meeting up on Thursday. And don’t worry about your baby belly – when you see me you won’t feel so bad!
Mel – wow, you sound busy! Hope Eliana enjoys her day care and that you enjoy the ‘me’ time too!
Snowy – wow, sounds like you guys are flat out! And bugger the outlaws to re: your nanny. What’s the problem? It’s absolutely none of their business. Would it be worth DH saying something to them?
Sherie – sorry to hear that Paige has been so crook. It never rains – it pours. I hope she’s feeling better soon.
Please excuse me posting some of the next bit that I also posted in the May 06 bubs thread – I just don’t know how much time I’ll have to write before Toby wakes up!
Hopefully our busy period has passed – for a while at least. We had Charlie’s birthday party today and I spent all week organising it, so now I should have a bit more spare time (provided my boys behave themselves!). It went really well and the weather was perfect (we had a picnic in the park). I made a cake in the shape of a kite (complete with tail and everything!) and he loved it – it was just like one that is on his ‘Spot’ DVD and he thought that was pretty cool. We gave him a remote control Bob The Builder truck and a ukulele, and we got our friend to bring his guitar to show Charlie how it’s played properly. He couldn't quite strum it - he kind of just hit it, but it was very cute. We’re a bit worried that DH got some food poisoning from today (but we don’t know from what because everyone else is fine), because he’s feeling really sick atm – he is lying down now and has probably fallen asleep so I hope he feels better when he wakes up. Other than that it was a great day. I can't believe Charlie is two already!
We’re going to take Charlie to a speech therapist because he can only say four words, even though he understands everything he says and has a few hand signals that he uses to show us what he wants. I thought it was just that he was a 'late' talker, but I think he has confidence issues. I think he's what could be described as a 'Highly Sensitive Child' - he is very particular about things and is very sensitive in so many ways. Things have to be 'just perfect' and he is so self-conscious for such a little guy. He's certainly got the intelligence to talk but he won't do things in front of other people until he can do them perfectly and I think he's the same with talking.
Toby is doing really well. He’s so loud! He’s really found his voice in the last few weeks and he just loves to chat. I bet he’ll beat Charlie to talking! He going 3 hourly almost on the dot (sometimes a bit longer), which is cool with me. I’m not as anxious for him to go longer (like I was with Charlie) because he’s so calm about it all – feed, nappy change, other side and sleep within about 20 minutes at night, so no problem. We did have a couple of meltdowns this week when Charlie and Toby were inconsolable at the same time after their afternoon naps, which was terrible because I felt like I couldn’t help them, but I’ve figured out how to deal with it now so it’s ok. All in all, there’s not much to report because it’s mainly all good.
Got a busy week again this week, kind of. My aunty is coming over for morning tea on Monday, I’m sure I’m doing something Tuesday but I can’t remember what, playgroup Wednesday, going into town Thursday morning, lunch with my best friend Thursday afternoon and a trivia night to go to on Saturday! Ah, the fun never stops…
Anyway, I should go and check on DH again, the poor thing. Hope you all had lovely weekends.
Helllo girls!
Just a quick one from me. It's Sunday and DH is asleep on the bed with Zara and I know she only ever catnaps, so probably just 10 mins to myself right now, while Wolf watches Fireman Sam (do you get that in Oz?) on DVD. (great parenting... *blush*)
re. nanny/ILs: the main issue I think is that they are jealous. SIL said that she had this picture in her head of her making sand castles with Wolf and now she can't because the nanny is there... well it's not like she works the whole day, she works 8 hours and that's it, so ample opportunity for sand castle building, but SIL won't hear any of that. both MIL and SIL feel like they can't drop by anytime they want to with the nanny there... well, did they really think they could without her there??? WTF! our nanny is really lovely and the most inoffensive person I have ever met. But they are both jealous because she gets to spend so much time with the kids and they don't/ I know they love the kids but then at the same time MIL will complain when we do ask her to babysit... it's just really stupid. We have tried to explain that it's win/win for all involved as no one will feel like a babysitter and DH and I will get time to hang out with SIL and help her with finding a job, etc. (she is about to finish uni) It's very frustrating ... DH has mainly done all the talking to his family (which I'm relieved about) and he is very ****ed off at them. I have to say that my relationship has totally soured with them. I mean, it's basically that they are asking us to inconvenience ourselves, so that they can have their picture perfect 2 hours a week with my kids!!! RIGHT...
ah well.. Michelle... sorry to hear Im not the only one with IL problems. So childish of MIL and SIL re. the costume jewellry... some ppl are weird, aren't they.
Jo - don't let that comment from the 11yr old get to you. They have no idea. But i know it's hurtful. My dad said the same thing to me 2 weeks after Zara was born, my mom was so angry, she almost scratched his eyes out.. but he is 68... you would think he should know better than an 11 yr old...
Okay, someone is waking... arrrrrrrrrg...
sNOWY
hi girls
Snowy that is just silly isn't it not like tey can't actually be with the kids and no point doing what they want cos they aen't going to step into her place are they? G;lad your dh is the one telling them always makes you look better if he stands up to them.
Kellee- glad to see things are going well happy birthday to Charlie, wow hasn't 2 years gone quickly. His bday sounds like it was heaps of fun.
just doing the usual today cleaning and stuff I also have a flat out week, gym and lunch at a gf's tomorrow lunch at a gf's weds who I went to PS and HS with , Jem has kinder on thurs and then Fri I am meeting another girl I went to HS with in the arvo (just me no kids) so will be very tired Sat. Sat is jordan's last netball match for the season unless they win and go through to the next final, but thtat is unlikely. The sunday is MYnanas bday so we will be going to visit her. I think next week is a slow week!! I will need it so I can recover.
have a good da, nice and sunny here
Time for a new thread!!
