I have noticed lately that he's saying more, its only been recently that he's said anything more than mum and dad. and he says cink or bot-bot for drink. I can understand certain things. So im glad he's not behind. Xander was speaking quite fluently by about 2, so maybe delcan wont be too far behind

Kids are amazing creatures. They develop so quickly with their skills - even when you think it's not gonna happen!

My little Xander has gone quiet, he was meant to be going to the potty ..... i dont want to know what he's doing
-
Hehehe yeah... silence usually means they are up to something!
Last time Gab went quiet she was pulling all the linen out of the cupboard in the hallway... grrr!
-
Simone, thankfully those comments from Noah are few and far between. He does tell me I'm a hubba, or beautiful on occasions too.
We got Tehya's immunisations allowance a few weeks back now. I used it to get her summer clothes laybuy off.
I am definately finding that Tehya is talking much better than my other children at her age. Brandon was a very clever baby and still is quite smart, just very lazy.
Tehya can string 2 words together and has been able to do so for quite some time now. She will tell me if she wants a cup or bottle, she will tell me if she want's juice, or ju as she calls it. She knows where the sultanas are kept and will go to the cupoboard and jump up trying to reach them telling me tana's.
Her motor sills are coming along great too. She can throw and kick a ball beautifully. She will try to put the puzzle together and can feed herself with both a fork and spoon great. She also drinks out of a regular cup with no problems.
What she does not do, however, is bloody SLEEP. I would gladly give up one of her talents for some sleep. How she manages it all I don't know.
Tehya was quiet earlier too, she was in Noah's room empting out his drawers... again !!!
-
HEy trish, i just did declans 18m needles about a month ago... Just curious how much is it and how long did it take to come in?? thanks :)
-
About $222. It's supposed to come in automatically in the 19th month. I called though because I didn't know how it works. ANyway, just as wel that I did because it had been transfered but was sort of sitting in limbo because they didn't h ave Tehya's Medicare number....
Maybe you could give them a call to see if it's being processed.
-
Wow Bec! Lots of chatting from you. Yes I was gutted to see you weren't home today, but not at all surprised. I'll give you a call a little later to chat.....
I'm not that bad with the TV and Jenna. She loves to say ABC, liek LOVES IT!!
Liek you say Trish, she is a sponge at the mo. Yestredays word was rainbow. And she almost says Eliza now sounding the Z, so thats a bit exciting.
And as for her maths - I presume you guys notice that she misses out 5&7.
Jenna is pretty good too Trish. She has started to say please now which is nice. So when she wants more, she has to say "more please mum". I am such a meanie! She goes into the fridge/freezer and helps herself to what she wants too. That is the bit that drives me mental. She doesn't shut the door after herself! Well she can if you say - shut the door please, but normally she just walks away on to the next great thing.
One of the funniest things she does is that we turn the DVD player off at the wall when we are finished with it cause otherwise she turns it on, takes out the disks and stuff, and its really annoying. So when she wants TV/DVD she will go to the side of the telly and tap it, cuase we never let her see the powerpoint behind there. And then stares at the DVD player wondering why the lights aren't coming on!
We can't get the vaccine utnil her GP gets back, which is 2 weeks away. I'm not too unhappy about putting off the unpleasant! And wowees on the suit Bec - thats a serious one! I'm sure it looks lovely. I have about 3 nice size 14 suits in the cupboard if you want them. I'm not sure they will get much use in the next few years. Maybe my Teachers College interview late next year, but I already know I'll get in so maybe I should go in jeans ;)
I'm not sure what I think about a kid telling their mother she is fat..... I'd be pretty gutted if my child did that to me! But hubba or spunky would be OK.
Oh - and update on the teenager.....
Shane rang the school and insisted on talking to Sam. So she got pulled out of class and he asked straight up what the money was for. Apparently his XW can only afford half of the school camp fee, so Shane is happy to pay the rest.
He then went on to tell her a few home truths. Like he spent over $30k fighting to have the kids only for Sam to send letters saying she didn't want to come in anymore. He explained lots of stuff to her, told her he wasn't a money tree, but that the door was always open. So hopefully some of that sinks in, and she starts to realise that maybe Dad isn't the $hit her mother makes out he is.
Lots about me.... sorry for being rude girls.
-
Oh that's great that Shane got to speak to Sam, Fi. Good for her to hear the truth. Hopefully it sinks in and she realises her Mum has probably been showing Shane in the wrong light. Gosh... when I found out some of the things that Mum did (like whisk us away on a holiday to SA when Dad was coming down from Sydney to pick us up for an access visit. 10 hours driving later, he arrived in Geelong to find us gone. I'll never forgive Mum for that!!). Of course, I didn't find out until years later when Dad told me. Grrrr!
Jenna sounds so cute with the DVD player. LOL @ her watching and wondering why the lights aren't on. Bummer @ not being able to get her vaccinations done yet.... ohhhh welll! hehehe... I would have put them off if I had known how Gabby would react! Still - glad they are over and done with.
Gab officially loves Foxtel. She's watching the Backyardigans... thinks it's hilarious. Although she's doing burnouts to the music (walking around and round in circles)... must be a brilliant show!
Ooo and those of you that watched Grey's anatomy last night.. uno that couple that were arguing because he hid behind her when bullets were flying around? Their names were Neil and Debra... hahahaaha!
Kind of like "Fiona and Shane" being paired up on the Aussie Biggest Loser... that was funny! ;)
-
Deb, i love the pic of Gaby, she looks so cute...
I was talking to mum about hair the other day, she reckon i was bald as until i was about 2.5yrs old. My hair now is pretty thin, but it grows nice and long :) What colour hair does she have? Xander's a redhead, Declan's golden blonde, and Anneliese has just started going red too-i love having dominant genes lol :D
-
Not sure what colour Gabby's hair is going to be. It's a sort of strawberry blonde - some days it looks really blond, other days you can see tinges of red. I think she'll maintain the strawberry blonde - won't be dark like me, that's for sure! ;)
-
Isn't it amazing the number of red headed babies that are around now though. I remember when my little brother was born 20 years ago there were very few red headed children.
Now, it seems it's nearly up there with the number of blondies in the crowd. Still a red head is far easier to spot when they run off ;)
-
Yep I agree Trish, when I was little there were hardly any redheads, now they're everywhere!
-
I agree... there's loads of gorgeous little red-heads at schools now. And the beauty of it is that they are more often than not very proud to call themselves red-heads (I sometimes use hair colour to stagger the amount of kids going to the bag room or lining up etc.). I think it's great!
Neil reckons he got picked on for being a red-head :( He LOATHES being called "Blue". Some people started calling him blue at his new job so he gladly informed then that his nickname is Nobba ;)
-
Deb, I hate that nickname too. Mark's family started to call Noah that when he was a baby and I quickly told them that no his name is NOAH and that his hair is red not blue !!!
Then they started calling him bloody No No. Idiot's. I stopped that quick smart too. There is a reason he has a name, use it !! Nasty, aren't I.
The last thing I want is for my child to have a complex about their hair colour (or anything for that matter) especially seeing as he was the only one in the house with the red hair, until Tehya came along that is.
-
Oh yeah, I know all about the being picked on part too  My primary school principal called me copper top which I thought was cool cos the principal had a nickname for just me!!
-
LOL, Sarah. Principal's favourite hey ;)
-
Yeah probably, I always was the good one LOL!
-
Dont you hate nicknames? In the navy, everyone with the surname Moore is called Pony. (DH says he wouldnt mind if it was Horse lol) But DH, his brother and Uncle were all in, so the Uncle got Pony, DH got Roger (moore, 007-silly buggars) and his brother got Booga (no idea why)
I get called red by my friends, even though i've dyed my hair now, its no longer red-and Xander used to get Lil Red.
I also hate it when people shorten my kids names. noone did anything to Xander, but Declan gets Decca (it caught on after Xander used to call him that, he couldnt pronounce Declan) and Anneliese gets Annie from my side of the family, and Allie from Dh's side (there's already an Annie on his) I just tell them not to call her that, I love the name Anneliese, if i wanted to call her something else then i would've made that her name!! (I guess it came fromt he fact that people used to call me Sim, or Simmy, and i absolutely hated it...) anyway, enough babbling from me :)
-
Hehehe... no one calls Gabby, Gabrielle - tho half the population can't seem to pronounce it properly anyway. She gets Gabriel... OMG! She's not a boy!!
-
Deb, that's because it's too long to type ;)
Nah, seriously though if you'd prefer her full name used I'd be more than happy :)
-
LOL when typing my little cherub gets Zander more often than not, but when I'm talking to / about him it'll more than like be Alexzander. They're interchangeable here ;)
-
HEHE same goes for you Sarah with Zander's name. Too long to type out but more than happy to do it. It's funny though I just think of Zander as that, and if I mention him that is what I call him too :dunno:
-
But certain names sound nice when shorten, but the names i chose dont (Decca? HUH!!) And i like Anneliese. Most of the time i called her Anneliese Bethany, or Miss/Lil Miss. I couldnt think of Gabby as anything else!! I just p*sses me off with names like Declan, Noah etc etc that arent meant to be shortened.
(BTW Xanders name on his birth cert is Alexander, but that was for his great great grandfather, i dont really want to call him that. I loved the name Xander anyway)
-
IKWYM Simone. Your right, some names are made to be shortened. Or maybe I shouldn't say made, but work welll shortened.
None of my kids names can be really shortened, well I sometimes call Tehya, Teh but that's about it and it isn't a regualar thing.
-
LOL alot of people just automatically say Zander here as well Trish so you're not alone. As long as it's not Alex I really don't care :p My dad calls him Z half the time LOL! He has a multitude of options when he's older as to what he can be called - Alexzander, Zander, Alex *shudders*, Lex... My luck will have him at 4 years old saying "I'm Alex now mummy!" Aaron's Omi said if he was living in Germany (she is German) his nickname would be Axel!
Funny story about my sister... She was always called Mandy & on her first day of Kindergarten mum got a phone call to come & calm her down because she was hysterical. Mum got there to find out the whole problem was her teacher called her Amanda. Poor chook at 4.5 was so upset "that's not myyyy naaaame". Hehe! Now she will only allow mum & Aaron to call her Mandy!
-
A friend of mine has Elisabetta and Alexander, and she calls them Eli and Lexi. She's pg with #3 (a boy) and im dying to know what she's going to call it... She's like me, a crazy mum with 3 under 3 (her eldest is 3 2 weeks after the babies due :))
-
HAHA I used to hate it when we had a sub teacher and she called me Trisha - Rae. Who is cruel enough to give their daughter a name like that. My mum, is I guess.
I don't blame you on the Alecx bit though either. Not a favourite here.
My little brother that passed away's name is Daniel and mum ade sure he was called that and not Danny. My eldest's name is Grant, can't do nothing to that and my baby brother Martin, well of course he get's Marty, or Farty - whatever I feel like calling him :)
-
Did it work though with Daniel? Did his friends call him something your mum didn't like?
-
Trish, lol about the farty :)
Mum hated our names being shortened, there was Simone (Simmy, Sim) Kellie (Kel), Kyle (Ky), Emma (Em), Blake (get BJ as his middle name is Jesse) and Tori (gets Tore i call her TC, her mid name is Cassandra. I shorten people's names even though i hate it d'oh!).
Sarah, i dont tell anyone Xander real name is Alexander as i HATE Alex (the name) on everything, his name is Xander. But When he's a big shot lawyer, and want to sound professional, he can call himself Alexander (or even Lochlan, his middle name-by then i dont care!!)
-
Hehe... we all have nicknames for eachother in my family. I'm "Bie", Lauren is "Loz" or "Lozenger" or, I used to love calling her "Laurence of Arabia" - she hated that!, Hanna is "Han" or "Hanna Bone" (her middle name is Joan but she couldn't pronounce it when she was little so said bone instead) and Erin is "Ez" or "Ezzy Boo".
Sarah - PMSL @ your sister cracking it for being called Amanda. Kids get really protective about their name at that age! I once pronounced a prep kid's name wrong (his name is Iman - I pronounced it "Ee-marn" but it's actually pronounced "Eye-man"). OMG... he made sure he put me in my place! "No Mrs. M... that's NOT how you say my name! Whyyyyyy do all the teachers get it wrong?". Gosh! If it wasn't for the fact that he told me I was beautiful after that, I wouldn't have been very impressed! hehehe
-
Sarah, yep it sure did work. You've met my mum, like anyone would cross her ;)
Aww Deb, so he softened you up afterwards hey. Love your sisters nicknames too.
I think I may have one. Does being called b!tch count as a nickname ?? ;)
-
Hi All,
I am Fi or Kiwi, and Shane is Noddy or Durro. Jenna is Jenna or Missy moo, or moosie moo.
Thats all I had to contribute - I'll go hide under my rock now.......
-
Aww Fi, you don't need to hide under a rock hun.
How are you and Jenna going ?? I can't believe how fast your pregnancy is going. I guess it always does when your on the other side of it.
Taking my brothers gf in for her first hospital appt today. Ahhh, see not even pg myself and still bloody going for ante natal appointments.
-
So you can live vicariously through her Trish ;)
-
Aww aren't you a nice SIL, Trish?? Have fun!! LOL
Why are you hiding under a rock, Fi? Is everything ok?
Off to playgroup this morning. Thank goodness too... Baby Einstein is starting to wear off Gab. I'm trying to keep her quiet because Neil is in bed.
My car is at the mechanics. I'm am hoping it'll be ready by the time I get back from playgroup. After Gab's sleep I need to do the groceries. We're having a small "house warming" on Saturday. Just a BBQ. I've met pretty much everyone coming as they are just the blokes on Neil's crew and their wives and kids. Still... it's the whole "getting to know you" thing. I much prefer it when you get together with friends you've known for a while and can relax. Good thing is, I can get smashed because I ain't preggo (gotta have some perks, right?? ;) ). So, if things are boring, I'll just spice it up with bourbon!! hahahaa
-
GO the bourbon deb :)
I'll be having a drink on friday too *YAY* i'll be drinking udl's (green apple yummo) as i cant be bothered mixing, thats how you get more drunk (the more drunk you get, the less you can taste the acohol, so you put more in lol)
I'm going to a children indoor playground in Epping for a 21st (Dh's schoolmates little sister) So it should make for an interesting night!!
Fi-i was looking at your ticker, and was thinking "Fi's not 3 weeks along!!" The one is sort of hidden.. You ok?
-
I'm OK - I just didn't have much to contribute to the conversation so I thought I'd just lurk a little longer. LMAO - I'm fine :D
Yeah - only a couple of days until the 1 turns into a 2, so hopefully the ticker will fix itself out. But it is my ray of sunshine so I'm not changing it for the sake of a number ;)
We went to see a 13wo today for a visit. Poor little bubby is on lots of medication, Zantac for his reflux I think, and something else to fix up his constipation. It was amazing - his mum had to go out quickly to drop her sister off, and she left him with me. He started getting really fidgety after about 5mins, and I thought to myself - this baby needs to go to sleep. Isn't it amazing when you know these things second time around? I said to her when she got back - does he normally have a nap now. Sure enough, she wrapped him, tried a bottle (but I think he wastoo tired) and popped off to sleep.
Jenna was totally uninterested in him while I was holding him, but as soon as he was back in his mums arms she was all cool, and talking to him andeverything. Funny huh?
Deb - I hope your housewarming is good this weekend, and that some of the other "girls" are your sort of people.have fun on the bourbons! Very jealous......
And your Friday night sounds interesting too Simone ;) Are you allowed to play on the equipemnt once you get trashed??
Can anyone give me some insight on why I would be getting really dizzy, fuzzy headaches at the mo? Is itpar for the course? I can't remember......
-
Just be careful with the headaches, Fi. If you start seeing spots or you vision goes blurry, get into the hospital and get your BP checked. You might just be tired or run down a little??? Still, keep an eye on them.
-
Fi, I agree with Deb on the fuzzy head too. Or maybe your blood sugar level is a little too low ??
Sarah, not sure that that is it, well maybe a little :) She just wasn't too sure about things and I think she felt more comfortable me being their with her. She has actually done an intro post that I talked her into doing yesterday as I knew she'd been lurkng. Trying to encourage her to join in the belly buddies group and young mums thread.
How is Zander going ?
Deb, sounds like your going to have a nice party. We still haven't had a housewarming party. Do you think we can still have one after being here for 12 months ?? Hope playgroup went well for you girls.
Simone, I hope you have a nice time out tomorrow. So are you aloud to play on the stuff at the centre ?? That's the best part about taking little ones to those places.
Not alot happening with me or mine. Tehya stayed with mum while I went to the hosp appt so got an hours break from her. Of course she slept while she was there.
