Nothing much to report here. Cooper was a good boy last night. Thank goodness for that because he was frustrating me during the day yesterday! I fed him last night at 8.00 pm and then he next woke for a feed at 3.00 am. Yay! Next feed was 7.00 am and now he's sleeping soundly. I hope he is a good boy today. I'd like to get some housework done as we're having visitors tomorrow.
Welcome chantal25! :hello:
Fraser – Sorry to hear you're having DH issues. Seems like a lot of people are. And you think Charlie does the laugh thing too?! I think it's hilarious. So cute. Cooper's whole body shakes and he sort of pants too – I can tell when he's about to do it. I need to get it on video or something!
Cassie – I agree about different labels being different sizes. Cooper also has some 000 which don't fit and yet a pair of 0000 pants which still do fit. Weird!
-
Kel – I haven’t put her totally on the bottle yet. She’s still getting a bit of expressed milk too. My boobs just ache so much so I express what I can when I can and she had that plus her formula. I just feel I should be giving her something as I’m not totally dry. Sounds like it was a bad night for you guys. I hope last night was better. Tim sounds like an angel!! Thank for the info on your lazy eye too!!
Cyn – yesterday at physio one of the mum’s there had to change her little boy and said that he does it all the time too. She just puts a flannel on him to soak it up. Just a tip I got from her. How did you go without Rob? I bet you managed great! Thanks for your words of encouragement too.
Fee – thanks for your info about smiling with Cooper. I think I might have gotten one out of her yesterday. It was an open mouth but you could see her eyes light up too. I hope I get more from her soon.
Hi Chantal – welcome to the group!!
Em – I’m glad you posted. I was thinking about you quite a bit yesterday. I hope your DH and Charlie are better today. I hear you on visitors – they just won’t go away!! Every single weekend someone rocks up without letting us know – that’s the worst part. On Sunday my friend, her husband and her 2 horror kids turned up. I love her to death but she doesn’t control her kids so my house is turned up side down by the time they leave! Ken and Danielle were sleeping at the time they arrive so Ken was a bit cranky that he couldn’t sleep and Danielle had a horrible day before and didn’t want her to be cranky later in the day. I ended up yelling at the kids for running about the house and running into one of my bookcases in the study. Luckily nothing fell on them but I couldn’t take it anymore!! I hope you are going OK Chicky – hugs to you.
Cassie – sorry I haven’t used diaphragms before. I know if you did you need to be refitted after birth but you can use them. I don’t know if I could handle putting it in and out IYKWIM. If you do have a chat to your doctor about it let us know what they say. It might be a better way for us girls rather than condoms.
Danielle had a good night last night too after being a terror all afternoon. I gave her a feed at 7.30pm and put her down at 8pm but she talked to herself for a while and by 8.30 she was out like a light. The power went off during the night and came back on about 1.45 and I was waiting as I heard her stir but she went back to sleep and woke at 3.15! I was very happy with her. She had a feed at 7am and now she’s in her bouncer but I think she’s gone to sleep again. Sounds like she was exactly like Cooper was last night. I hope this length of time keeps up!
Better run – thinking about going to the gym after being given the all clean by the physio. My stomach muscles are almost back together already!! There’s just a ridge there where they are serparated and that’s it!! Another couple of months of working out carefully and she reckons I’ll be better than I was before pregnancy! Yay!!
Have a great day everyone!!

Hi All... have been mia for a few days - just been hectic - and by the time I read all your posts I have to run again!!
Charlotte has been fantastic the past few days - sleeping for 6-7hrs at night for the last two!!! I don't know what has hit me, and I am waiting for it to go back to waking every 4 again.
I am wondering if the waking her to feed every 4hrs during the day is what has paid off - then I just let her go after her last feed at night.
I downloaded the Tizzie Hall 4-6 week Save Our Sleep routine last night - but really am doubting if I need to follow it through with her seeming to settle into my routine I have given her quite well.
Also - she has all of a sudden started taking a lot less time to feed... has anyone else noted a sudden drop - like from 20 minutes - to 10 minutes!
I keep offering it to her and she takes it, but just comes off the shield 30 seconds later shaking her head and perhaps even crying.
Hoping I am reading her signs right that she just doesn't want anymore.
On my front - I am on antibiotics as a skin tag I have on my aereola (sp?) became infected with staph and was bleeding quite often. It seems to be clearing up, but bled again before her feed this morning.
Off to the Dr now - as I am also bleeding whenever I go to the toilet (sorry if TMI!) and it hurts... feel like I have been living at the Drs recently.
To top it all off - I am constantly cold - I am hoping it is just hormones still settling down - anyone got any ideas on that?
Will have to do some personals later... but just one before I forget...
Fee and Cassie - yah for more shield users!! Apparently it can reduce your supply by 20% ish - but other than that, there is no harm in using them all the time.
I am not having a problem with my supply - and a bit of expressing can always help boost it too - which I do whenever I am feeling a bit full.
My biggest problem is just how messy it is - it always seems to leak down the bottom, so I have to make sure I roll my sleeves up and have a cloth underneath her head to catch the drips!!
I also don't like how blatant it can look that you are feeding - but that could just be my big boobs! no hiding them when she is on!! lol
Maybe one day my nipples might come out enough for her to attach - but until then, I am using the shield (I have three btw - so much easier now I have three!!)
-
hi girls,
Ben manages to wee alot while I change him - I always have a cloth nappy on the change mat and if he starts going I put a corner of it over him. The funniest thing was the day he weed and managed to get his head! Dh and I made sure the paint for the nursery walls was washable - which has paid off as he seems to hit the wall next to the change table quite often!
em The specialist rang me on the weekend and they can't find anything conclusive - they reckon I have a defect in the left kidney which means I am prone to bleeding and being heavily pregnant just made it worse. The good news is I am weeing normally and have had no more pain. The specialist is happy to leave me but has told me if I have aother attack to ring his Perth office and I will have to go down there for a laproscopy ( as he puts it - stick a telescope up there and have a look.)
I have an appointment at 8am:eek: tomorrow for my coccyx - will be an exercise in organisation to get out for that... I have already farmed off DS1 to his Dad's for the night so he can get dropped at school with no hassles. Here's hoping it's something simple!
Cassie Hope the burping regime is helping - I still get the odd surprise spew - but not nearly as many as before.
The comm health nurse is finally visiting - 3pm today. I am dying to know what Ben weighs now.
DH was very responsible while we were shopping last week and bought a packet of condoms - he knows what a byatch I become on the pill. We do need to go and chat to the doc as we're not sure if we are going to have any more bubs - I am terrified of more complications kidney wise - don't think my body could cope with a third pregnancy. I think we might look into the pros and cons of having tubes tied or mens bits snipped....thats really scary too though!
Have a good day everyone.
Cle xx

BOYBUMP - know what you mean. my little man thinks its an open invitation too pee the second his nappy is off to be changed.
Little man has started to get realy fussy and is only sleeping for 1 - 1/1/2 hours durning the day and wants to feed when he is awake. has anyone else had this? I was told they change at 6 weeks and then settles down please tell me this is true.
ps hello everyone
-
hi all
bubs- you are lucky with your sleep, i wish Charlotte would sleep like that, though she is starting to sleep in her bed alot more. last night she was in there until 6:30am. Glad to see you are doing well at the gym, have you lost any more weight, i am stuck on the weight i am on, i have lost 14kgs though.:)
chantel- Charlotte likes to feed 2 hrly during the day, i have also been told they change at 6 weeks i hope so.
Shellbabe- i have found Charlotte takes less time too, sometimes she will take a bit longer, but it dosn't bother me.
Fee- YAY for Cooper sleeping so long, I wish,
Cassie- i have only 5 mothers in my group and we still meet up weekly, one is over seas at the moment and another one has moved away for a few months until they find another house to buy, however we still get together.
Well i must be off, tim has cooked dinner and its ready

Evening ladies
I feel like the worst mummy in the world I was just trimming Dylan's nail with baby clippers and I cut too far on one of his middle fingers and I soon as I cut I knew I had cut him and it took him a second to react and then he screamed bloody murder it was sooo heartbreaking so I am not going to cut him nails again I have decided. I just gave him a huge cuddle and I cried and my DH comforted me and then Dylan and gave him a cuddle too and within minutes it was forgotten by Dylan and he was smiling. What a drama! Oh I love my little boy and hate to see him in pain.
KMH Ihope my group stays toegther even if there are only a few of us it is great to have the support and similar experiences just like this group too.
Boybump Dylan did a big wee on his change mat in front of my mothers group yesterday pretty funny.
Shellbabe I am using the nipple shields because i have flat nipples and they help to bring them out and also my nipples are quite sensitive being a red head and all. And I agree they are very messy I end with milk all over the place too and put a towel under my boob and under Dylan to mop it up.
Kel I will let you know about diaphragms once I have seen my ob.
Has anyone had their postnatal appointment, did you have an internal and did it hurt?
-
Cassie - I did the same thing with baby clippers (brand new from packet) to Sammy - I was so upset - I will only use emery board from now on.It was a bit of skin from his thumb and it took ages to stop bleeding.
I don't get a lot of time to write personals sorry ladies but I do read the posts while feeding usually - you all say everything I would anyway so I would just be repeating it LOL IYKWIM.
I heard they start to feed more at 6wks due to a growth spurt and my boys did this and still do some evenings.
Sammy is also a squirter and down the wash too.

Cooper is doing something weird all of a sudden. The last couple of nights. Basically his last feed for the night before I go to bed is around 7.00 pm. Two nights ago he went 7 hours until the next feed and last night he went 6 hours until the next feed. So this morning that feed was 1.30 am.
Anyway he then wakes up again just 3 hours later. Normally it's at least 4 hours between his night time feeds - if not more. Anyway so I get up to feed him and he's either asleep by the time I switch the lamp on and set up my glass of water etc. Or (like this morning), I go to feed him and he feeds for about 3 minutes and then falls asleep! So this morning that happened at 4.30 am... then he woke around 5.30 am but when I went in he was asleep so I went back to bed ... then he next woke at 6.00 am where he finally fed for 20 minutes. What's up with that?! He's trying to trick me or something?!
Maybe he's crying for another reason? I don't rush in the minute I hear a grizzle from him. I wait until it sounds decent.
Next time he does this I will just go in there and try to re-settle him with a pat. Maybe that's all it is. But I have no idea why he's just started to do this.
Bubseykel – Yay for getting a smile out of Danielle! :) Hope you get some more.
Shellbabe – I saw Tizzie Hall on Kerri-Anne I think it was. It sounded like a very strict routine.
About feed time … Cooper can vary. But 10 minutes is his norm. Sometimes he goes for 20 but it's rare these days. In the early weeks it was longer but now it's a lot shorter.
Yes I hear ya about it being messy at feed time. Sometimes Cooper rips the shield off and milk goes everywhere! Also sometimes it can leak out the bottom if the shield is not suctioned on well. Plus the fact that Cooper often dribbles milk out his milk at the start of the feed. He is sooo messy! And I agree about it being quite "in your face" when feeding with a nipple shield. There is no being discreet when you have to put it on etc. So I'm not really keen on BF-ing in public at the moment. I tried yesterday without the shield for a bit and sometimes Cooper would latch on and suck but then he would come off. I think he's confused.
boybump – LOL at Ben weeing on his head. Cooper did a wee one day while he nappy was off and it got on his face. Perhaps even some got in his mouth!!!
chantal25 – Cooper has been the same recently. He wants to feed every 2 hours at times during the day and is not sleeping that well. He's hard to settle after feeds as soon as it's daylight! Yet, he's fantastic at night. I wrote a post about it in the Sleeping Issues forum. I've had some friends on another forum tell me that they found week 5-8 to be very difficult with their babies.
kmh – Yay for losing 14 kgs! I'm sorta stuck on the same weight too. I have lost 12 kgs so far.
Cassie – Don't feel bad about the nail clipper incident. I have heard of soooooo many mothers doing the exact same thing! I think I read somewhere the clippers aren't the best and you're better off using nail scissors. I haven't tried either yet. Still just tearing Cooper's nails.
My 6 week OB check up is on Monday. I assume I'll be having an internal. Not really looking forward to that. It's so uncomfortable!
Baby~amore – I hope Cooper doesn't have a growth spurt at 6 weeks – I feel like he's already been through one! It's so hard to tell though. I guess their routines are just always changing. It's hard to keep up!
-
Just a quick one from me as Danielle has decided to wake up. I've had my 6 week check and I didn't have an internal done. But I'm back off there again hopefully today as the site where my stitches were has flared up, stinging and bleeding - not good. I also have a shooting pain in my boobs which I've been told by the Clinic Nurse which could be a sign of thrust as I have the discharge that goes with it too but no itch. She thinks
Danielle might have it too - lovely.
Must run - hopefully I'll be back later.
-
:hello:
how are you all today, i had my mothers group this morning and now i am trying to get Madison to sleep, as she is in her big bed now and she keeps getting out. But Charlottte is doing well and is asleep in her swing. We went Shopping for the day yesterday, went to the factory outlets and then to Southland, didn't really buy much just a couple of tops for my self and a few things for the girls.
kel- you poor thing i hope your stitches heal soon, i thought by now they would of healed.
Fee- Cooper may just want a cuddle from you or we may jsut wake up tired and winges him self back to sleep, you are so lucky that you get 7 hours i get 3-4.
cassie- i did they same thing to Madison, and then time said that he thought i would do something like that, and that made me feel worse i cryed i still remember it.
I hope everyone is having a great day.:)
-
FEE - i am glad to here i am not the only one. also zac does the same thing with sleeping and waking for a feed. he starts to sir but when i go to get him to feed his asleep. he will do this for 2 hours until he "wakes" up for the feed.
went to the sleep clinic today was a good thing too as i was told about a herbal medicen to get for Zacs reflux. he had it realy bad today. he woke up at 7.30am and i could not get him to sleep until 1pm and because he was tired he did not want to feed. he woke up at 3pm fed until 5pm and i was able to put him to sleep in his own cot - YEH:p he has been asleep for an hour
-
Evening all,
The nurse came today..Ben is 4.8kg. I am happy cos he is above the 50th percentile - always had trouble with DS 1 as he was a skinny bub- like his Mum.
The physio has put me on a strict regime of pelvic floor exercises to fix my tailbone - she says it will take months to heal.:crying:
Not going to chat for long - need my sleep. DH is crook with a nasty flu - he's never been sick n his life - has given up smoking and is crook as a dog. He has quarantined himself from Ben and has been resting since he got home from work so muggins here has been flat out today and guess which little munchkin woke every two hours last night???!!! I don't mind - he needs some tlc too - I was well looked after annd spoilt rotten while I was pregnant and DH is very laid back about my duties at home - basically looking after myself and bub is all I am expected to do - the housework isn't a big deal...I still try to do too much though!
Sleep vibes to you all ~~~~ZZZZZZZZZ~~~~~~
-

-
Bubseykel – Ouch about your stitches. I hope everything is okay.
kmh – Yeah I'm thinking that Cooper just wants lots of cuddles these days!!! I'll just go with the flow I think.
chantal25 – How do you tell that your baby has reflux? What are the signs?
boybump – Sorry to hear about your tailbone. I hope the pelvic floor exercises will heal it.
baiza – Sounds like Bailee is doing great sleeping 9 hours at night! Wow!
-
hey ladies,
well what a drama - I caught gastro off DH and spent from 2am on Weds til about 9am on Weds vomiting at 10 minute intervals....... poor Charlie had to get quick feeds between vomits - he was so unsettled last night.
had a flip out last night - cried my eyes out and told Simon I couldn't do this any more, I'm not any good at it and I'm so freaked out all the time that something is going to happen to him I'd rather just go off somewhere and hide and not think about feelings or anything like that. Thankfully DH saw that I was just overtired and made me go to bed - so got a solid 5 hour sleep in and it is quite amazing how much easier the mid night feeds are when you've had heaps of sleep! I feel mentally heaps better today.
Still feel physically like sh*t - not back on solids yet - the spewing reminded me of morning sickness and put the kybosh on any romantic notions of having another bub......ever......
I think Charlie may have had it also, he wasn't power chucking but his poos were very very runny and every now and then he would scream and tense his little body - like he had the cramps. I guess the only good thing is that he didn't stop feeding, so if he did have it he didn't get dehydrated.
we're definitley having sleep issues - he is very unsettled in the afternoon but then will go to sleep at about 5 or 6pm for about 5 hours - he has started doing the same thing, as Cooper, Fee. He cries at about 2am or so, I get up to him, and he's grizzling with his eyes shut, but if I get him up he's actually asleep - so I'm not sure whether to leave him or wake him to feed
Cle - at least you know that your tail bone will get better - and I bet it would be gradual so one day you'll just notice it doesn't hurt anymore!
Kel - that sounds very uncomfortable - you had heaps of stitches though didn't you? I would have thought they would have healed by now - but I guess if you had heaps they may have taken longer. Poor you
Baiza - I was wondering about Dee also - perhaps she is in the August babies forum - haven't seen any posts from her though.
Cyn - Simon was supposed to go back to work this week but then found out he had an extra weeks leave - he didn't realise about - such a relief - he goes back next week and I am dead scared about how I am going to cope without him!
Cassie - I used the nose stroking tip on Charlie the other day and it worked a treat! thanks so much life saver!
Tanya - how did you go at the Drs? does Lucas have reflux?
Hey to everyone else - hope your day is a good one
Em

Hi All!

that is such a sweet post Cyn - and so true too!
Someone said to me yesterday when I was saying how hard it all is - "that is why baby's are so cute - so you don't mind the hard work!" VERY TRUE!
I am with you on the massage thing - my back is killing me and just want someone to rub it for more than the two minutes I get out of DH!
I have had an up and down couple of days.
Charlotte has developed reflux - which is why she is doing the squealing and pulling off the nipple. Though I am doing the right thing in sitting her up for a minute and then reoffering, which is a relief.
Last night she took forever to settle - fed at 7:30, then bath, then fed at 10:15 - then bed, then had to feed again at midnight - all of this time she didn't sleep.
At the end of it all, she had her first big chuck - what a shock for mummy! she was probably just trying to get that up all along!!
I was rewarded at the end of it though - she slept for 7 hrs!! :) YAH!!!
Had a surprise visit from the LC and ECHN this morning (never got the message) which was great!
Firstly, my little guzzler is now 5kg clothed - no wonder my back is sore!! So definitely no problems with my supply with using the shield.
THEN - she managed to attach with no shield - and no help from the LC!! :D YAH YAH big happy dance!
I think having my new feeding pillow helped - mybrestfriend - worth every cent so far! So lets hope I can do the next feed without it as well... maybe I just needed a week longer for my nipples to come out more, as they are still a little flat.
Baiza - great idea on the msn thing - am happy to share my log in for people to add me.
Fraser - I know those freak outs - had plenty myself - I was so scared about hubby going back to work, I think that is what caused most of them.
He has been back for two weeks now - and I have survived - the first day is the hardest - so maybe get a friend or your mum to come visit at some stage during the day - knowing you have someone coming helped me.
really must do some housework now - have done none in the last few days!!
Hope you all have a great day! :)
-
fee - when i hold zac upright next to me i can here the milk coming up his throat and him swollowing it again. he has also projectialled vomit a few times. when i was at the clinic yesterday they confermed it. (was also told by clinic nurse as i had it through the pregnancy and was on zantec for it there was a good chance zac would get it)
also zac does not like sleeping on his back. only on his side and on belly (under supervision)
having a bad day today Zac has come down with the flu. his got a stuffy nose and a cough. he wont settle unless i am holding him and his having a bit of a problem feeding. LC is suppost to be contacting me so we will see what happens.
has anyone started to just bottle feed?
-
Cooper is being an ANGEL today! He is actually SLEEPING in his cot! Wow. I hope this continues. He's back to his old self ...
Today so far has gone:
7.30 am - Feed
8.00 am - Sleep
10.00 am - Feed / play
11.00 am - Sleep
1.30 pm - Feed / play
2.30 pm - Sleep
So he hasn't quite made his usual 4 hour feeds (closest was 3.5 hours) but he's actually settling well in his cot like old times! I wonder how long he'll stay asleep now. His next feed is due at 5.30 pm. Let's see if he can make it!
I'm happy today and Cooper is giving me soooo many smiles! Check out my website for a really cute B&W shot of him smiling.
Fraser – Oh Em you poor thing getting gastro. I hope you are feeling 100% soon.
As mentioned above Cooper is back to "normal" today. Sorry to hear Charlie has been unsettled. I'd say if you get up to his grizzles at night and he seems asleep – do not wake him! The thing with Cooper is that he's actually awake but by the time I get my water and turn on the lamp he is asleep again! Or I actually get him out to feed him and he only sucks for 2 minutes before falling asleep!
Boisey – What a lovely post. And so true. Some days are just so hard. I feel like I'm a mess and can't do it! But then today I'm having a great day.
Shellbabe – Yay for Charlotte attaching without the shield. That's great and I'm a bit jealous!!!
chantal25 – Cooper has done a couple of projectile vomits. I will ask the paed on Monday about reflux. Although Cooper is very settled today so who knows! Sorry to hear Zac has the flu. That's no good at all. Poor little thing.
-
I feel like Em today and for the past few days - I've had enough! I feel so physically and mentally drained. Danielle's starting to sleep better - now from 8-9pm until 3-4am but I don't go back to sleep afterwards so I feel like crappola as I'm not getting enough sleep. She usually goes back to sleep until 7ish but I can't fall asleep again. She won't sleep during the day - she only cat naps for about 20 minutes and she's awake and crying again for attention. To top it all off it's Ken's birthday on Monday so we've got so many people coming over on the weekend - all I want to do it tell them to get lost but I know I can't especially because it's the Derby - Eagles vs Dockers - so everyone's coming over here.
Doctor's pretty much told me it's nothing except for the stitches are propbably totally disolved now and it's taking a little longer to heal and the discharge is nothing and my boobs are hormonal. I only had about half a dozen on the side of the vagina and only 1 on the inner labia and that's the one that's killing me and has right from the start - I had none going backwards. He's given me antibiotics just in case but I'm taking them already so it doesn't get any worse. If it's not better by Monday I'm going to go to a totally different doctor's surgery and get another opinion as this doctor's making me feel like it's nothing.
Sorry for the sad posting - I just feel very down all the time. I'm going to give Danielle her dummy and hopefully she settles down and go for a bath and my normal hourly cry.
-
Hi girls
Kel Your post made me feel so sad for you. Are you ok? I feel bad that you are having an hourly cry every day or at least that is what it sounds like. We are here for you that is what the group is for. What a pity you are in Perth cos if you were in Melbourne I would come for a visit and try and cheer you up. Have a look at your beautiful little angel and that should cheer you up!
Fee Yay for Cooper being an angel for you. I haven't managed to get Dylan in his cot yet he is actually sleeping in his pram and seems to like it in there as it is snug.
Shellbabe Yay for Charlotte sleeping for 7 hours that's amazing. Good on you for getting her to latch on without a shield, Dylan will latch on but then comes off and won't go back on and gets frustrated. Do you think it would be worthwhile me seeing a LC?
Boisey Great message. It is all true.
Fraser Glad the stroking thing worked for you, Dylan likes it too.
Baiza Bailee's doing so well.
Boybump Hope your tailbone heals soon. I still have tailbone, butt and hoo haa pain 5 weeks on when will it end. I want to get back into 'it' with DH, waaaa!
Well Dylan had his MCHN check up today and is now 9 pd 15oz so has put on 14 oz in 2 weeks last check up he was 9pd 1oz and is now 56.5 cm from 54.5cm. SO he is "thriving" in the words of the nurse. Which is just great. At her recommendation I have started giving him nude tummy time or nappy off actually on the chnage table with every change. Apparantly this the best way to do tummy time because they can lie flat without the bulk of the nappy getting in the way. And he seemed to like it.
Tomorrow we are going in to my work to visit which will be good can't wait to see everyone and show my little cutie off.
-
ok what do you do when you have finally managed to get Bubby off to sleep (who has been awake since 4am) in the hug-a-bub and now you're busting to go to the toilet?
Is it wrong to take him in with you.......
need quick responses or will wet pants.....
-
ahhhhhhhhhhhh come one come all I say....take him!!!lol!
-
I had to take him - the hug-a-bub is so fiddly it would have taken me half an hour to unwrap - so it was either wet my pants or hope he didn't wake and realise what was going on.
was rather awkward though - last time I shared a toilet with someone was when I was in my early twenties, out and p*ssed and giggly......
-
I take mine to toilet all the time - :p easy peesy

Kel- i had a cry the other night, i was so fustrated Charlotte had only been alseep for an hour from her last feed, i had been asleep in that time, and then she woke up screaming, like she wanted a feed, tried to feed her and she wouldn't stay on, i then started to cry, so Tim had to take her, the poor thing has so much wind, once she got rid of it she was fine.
Cassie- Charlotte likes her pram as well, because when we are out she sleeps all the time, I used to put Madison in it when she was a baby. Charlotte likes her swing, she is asleep in it at the moment. How did you go at your work?
Fee- you are so lucky to have Cooper sleeping well, i wish, i try and get Charlotte to sleep like that but she likes to feed 2 hrly.
i have booked in to have family photos taken on tuesday, so i am going to get my hait cut and coloured on monday.
i got my first smile yesterday:)
to whose babies are brestfeed, do they have a fav boob? Charlotte likes my left side.
i hope everyone has a great weekend:)

Not much happening here. We had a pretty good day although Cooper wanted to feed every 3 hours instead of 4. And then he only had a 2 hour break this evening. I had fed him at 3.30 pm but he wouldn't settle in his cot. I then tried feeding him again at 5.30 pm because he was making "mouths" at me. You would think he hadn't been fed in days!!! LOL. He went crazy at my boob and ended up having a 25 minute feed when normally he only goes about 10-15 minutes. He's fast asleep now (nearly 8.00 pm). Wonder how long he'll go tonight. Some nights it will be 8 hours between feeds but then it could be like last night and only be 5 hours (followed by 4 hours and then 3!).
We went on trips to Coles, a local shopping centre and Bunnings today. Cooper mostly slept in the Baby Bjorn or car capsule while we were out.
Bubseykel – Sorry to hear you've been down. I hope the weekend hasn't been too crazy for you with Ken's birthday celebrations.
Cassie – That's great that Dylan is thriving and growing big and strong! And thanks for mentioning nude tummy time. Will have to give it a go with Cooper although I hope he doesn't do a big poo or something!
How did your visit to your work go? DH and I plan on going next week to my work.
Fraser – Glad to hear you didn't wet your pants. I think it's fine to take Charlie to the toilet in the HAB. How are you finding the HAB by the way?
kmh – Cooper doesn't seem to have a favourite boob but I think I prefer the right one! Feels more "comfy" when feeding.

Hey guys,
well we've had a good couple of days - in preparation for DH going back to work on Monday - where I guess it will all turn to sh*t again!!
I think Charlie has a cold though, he's very snotty and crackly sounding - I'm not sure what to do about it - we have our Paed appt on Thursday - is that too late to leave it? I don't think he has a temperature, his hands are still cold, and he's still feeding like normal. I just get worried when he's asleep in the night he's going to choke on the snot and I wont hear him. Is it true that babies can't choke? or is that only when they're really really new?
What is the best way to tell if your baby has a temp? My mum said if his hands and feet are really warm then it's possible - but they're not really well they sort of are, but I've got the heaters on so he might just be warm - he's not sweaty and he's not crying - am I panicking myself?
Bubs - how are things today? I'm trying so hard to take things as they come and accept that there will never be a 'normal' day again in my life - but it's taking time! Have you had a chance to have a good sleep yet? even just for 5 hours - it's amazing the difference it can make - can someone watch over Danielle for you?
Chantal - how did you cope with Zac being sick? did you give him anything, like panadol? I just don't know what to do and I'm not even sure Charlie is sick - why am I freaking out??
Fee - I'm glad Cooper is back to normal - I've realised I'm a control freak - when things happen out of order or Charlie cries for no reason I have to find a reason - I need an explanation for anything out of the ordinary or my brain doesn't cope - so if he's really unsettled one night I will have to think back over the previous day and work out what was different and then make a mental note 'Ah I had two coffees instead of one, that must be why he's miserable' - if I don't do that I go into melt down - half the time I think the reasons I think up to placate myslef have no bearing on his behaviour at all - but at least I'm happy in my little organised and slef explanatory world!
Baiza - I might e-mail you about that chat group - I've never done anything like that before - it should be interesting.
Kelly - Good luck with the family photos on Tuesday
Cassie - that's excellent news about Dylan - we're trying to give Charlie more tummy time too - I keep forgetting about it!
Cyn - It IS really really good to know that I'm not the only one going through all of this - not that I wish the turmoil and confusion on anyone else - but it's amazing what a relief it is to read that other people have the same issues - a problem shared is a problem halved!
Anyone heard from Tanya (Tulip) - she was having a rough time a litte while ago and I hope she is ok!
ok so I'm off to stare and Charlie and make sure he is breathing and then I might have a little panic about DH going back to work.
Speak soon - Em

:) hi all
em- its alright if they have a yucky nose, Charlotte has one at the moment, go to the chemist and get yourself some fess its for their nose and it helps lossen all the crap in their nose, you can use it on a new born, i have been using it on charlotte and it seems to be helping, also you will cope just fine with you Dh going back to work, i thought i wasn't and i have 2 to look after and i am doing just fine, we seem to be so busy latley too.
fee- you are lucky to feed every 3 hours i feed every 2 sometime 3 if i am lucky., and over night i feed 4 hourly which i can cope with.
biazar- that sounds good, if we can all find a time where it suits us all, the best time for me is about12;30-1pm as Madison is sleeping at that time or after 7:30pm.
Wee i have had a good day, went to see Tim's cousin today as they have 2 girls so Madison enjoyed that, Charlotte was a bit restless their until the about 4pm and now she has been sleepy, she is in her bed at the moment. I went shopping yesterday and brought the girls something nice for them to wear on tuesday and ened up spending $91 at pumpkin patch just on them. I still have to find myself something to wear as well.
well i am off to get my hair cut tomorrow, yeah i havn't had it cut for so long.:)
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend:)
-
Hiya everyone!!
Kel - Sounds like you had fun shopping. I can't be bothered going shopping so I guess that's a good thing - save our money for something we want later on. Enjoy getting your hair done!!
Em - that Fess stuff Kel was talking about is great. Danielle had a crappy nose when she came home from hospital and I used it and it's wonderful. They might scream a bit but once it's done they love you for it. Danielle has a gunky nose again now and a bit of a cough but it's not really bad. Hopefully it's just the snot tickling her throat. I bought a thermometer for $20 which has a digital reading and it taken in 10 seconds as I'm not sure how to check for a temp. You just stick it under their arm and hold their arm down. I've also bought some Children's Panadol incase I need it in the middle of the night. I don't know if babies can't choke - I haven't heard that one. Normal day - I don't think I've had one of them in my whole life! I don't think sleeps a real issue for me - I just think I need a break at times. We get 6-7 hours straight sleep a night. I'm sure you'll be fine when DH goes back to work. Ken went back to work as soon as I came home (we have our own business - no work = no money!) - just some days you go mental!!
Fee - Danielle does that some days - she wants 3 hour feeds the next day 2 hour feeds - you can't win! I love it when the do 'The Mouth' movements. I think it looks so cute!
I'm doing heaps better now. I got my first real smile from Danielle when she saw me on Saturday. I put her in my bed and went and did something and came back to get her from DH and when she saw me she gave me the biggest smile I've seen on her. I was so happy! I felt myself again - dancing and singing about the house while I was cleaning and she was just watching me and falling asleep. We went walking down to see Ken who was at a friends place working and just loved the day. My MIL came over in the afternoon and while she had Danielle, Danielle started to cry and grizzle. As soon as I got her she calmed down. It made me feel so happy and that she wants me as I was feeling like a bad mother the past few days. Yesterday went well with everyone and Danielle was great for me the whole day again - especially in the morning when I was singing and dancing and cleaning again. She got grizzly when she needed a feed but after that she was great again. We both slept like a log last night (I did after drinking 3/4 of a bottle of wine - I've given up BFing - nothing coming out!!). She slept from 8pm to 5.20am!! I went to bed at 8.30 and startled awake at 4.40am because I hadn't heard her yet but she was still sleeping! I feel great today so after her next feed we are off to the gym!
I better run - she'll be awake soon and I'm not quite ready yet. Thanks for your support girls. Have a great day!

well I can't believe it - I am going ok without DH here - actually I think I'm going better than when he was here.... I seem to trust myself more when I'm on my own - instead of asking - 'Do you think I should....' 'Is he ok....' 'What about if I....'
Charlie must have got a clue what was going on though - last night he woke at half hour intervals from 2am onwards - was out of my mind by 6am - couldn't get DH to help because he had to go to work. but he's been fine today so far slept from 8am until 11am and now is asleep again, fingers crossed he will stay that way until at least 2.
DH went out in his lunch hour and got me some of that Fess stuff - thank you ladies - I'll give it a crack tonight. I can't help myself but pick Charlie's nose for him.... this morning I got a HUGE dried booger out - I just caught the edge of what I thought was a little one and out came this big block of dried snot - eeeuuuiiiiii - but he did breathe better after that
I've got some new Charlie pics on my website - he sure has stacked the weight on!
Bubs - that's great about the smiles! I'll bet Danielle just loves thr ground you walk on!
Kelly - It's kind of sad when you realise you've spent heaps of money on the wee ones and nothing on yourself! But I'm sure they'll look beautiful in you photos - PP has such lovely girls clothes. I'm so excited about summer this year - seeing as I've lost 15 kilos I am really looking forward to buying some new clothes - I wonder how difficult it will be to shop with Charlie! I hope I haven't lost my killer bargain instinct.
I'm off to revel in the fact I'm on my own! well Charlie's here but he's asleep - I can't remember the last time I had time to myself.... oh yeah it was about 5 to 6 weeks ago!
Hope everyone is having a great day - beautiful sunny day here in Hobart - come on spring!

I can't believe it is Monday again!
I love weekends so much - having Grant around, and not having to worry so much about washing etc like we used to, because I have done it during the week (or if I haven't, can do it on Monday!).
This weekend we had our first big outing - we went to the Swans game. I took EBM, as I wasn't comfortable feeding in public as there is no parents room (just a change table in the disabled toilets), it all went very well. Charlotte slept a lot of the game in her Baby Bjorn, and Grant loved his constant cuddle all night!
Charlotte seems to be going through a change in routine - I think!!! the last couple of days she has switched to 3/3.5hr feeds instead of 4 - but will do this twice, and then have a big sleep. She has also had a couple of stretches of only napping between feeds - she will still be down for 2 hrs, but not really be sleeping.
She hasn't slept through the night in a while - but it isn't too bad - she does seem to stick to 4hrs at night.
Last but not least - she finally has a middle name!!! Charlotte Emily Rose is now her full name :) Took us a while to decide! But we love it....
Fee - sounds like Cooper and Charlotte are so similar in their routines! Changing them on us too!!
Any luck on the no shield yet? I can manage 3 feeds a day now, then do the night feeds with the shield as it is easier when I am sleepy. Also my feeding chair upstairs doesn't really have room for the football hold, which I need to do without the shield.
Cassie - I think you should definitely try and see a LC - it has worked wonders for me - even if they only tell you one or two things to change it can make a massive difference.
Fraser - I knew it would be easy once your DH was at work! I now tell my DH what to do on weekends, it is amazing how quick you pick up on things when you are by yourself!
Hope Charlie is better soon too.
kmh - I am eyeing off soooo much PP stuff - can't wait for it to go on sale - or for me to convince some Grandparents that Charlotte needs more clothes!!
bubseykel - lucky you on the big sleep and a big smile!! I can't wait to get them all the time :)
-
Faser - sorry to take so long to get back - didnt give zac panadole. he cought got worse on saturday so i took him to the DRs who said i had to take hime to hospital emergancy. turnes out he developed broncolitis. was in hospital saturday night and sunday night. lucky he wasnt to bad. his was only on 1L of oxygen and they weaned him of that over 1 day. so i got to bring him home today. he still has a stuffy nose and have to put saline drops up his nose before every feed. poor little man.
will update later almost time for another feed

Chantal - hope Zachary is feeling better and you too

Yesterday Cooper was 6 weeks old and he had his 6 week check up with the paediatrician. He has put on 590 grams! He is steadily going up. At 2 weeks he had put on 390 grams, then at 4 weeks it was 490 grams. The only strange thing was that he seems to have shrunk! But the paediatrician says it can be hard to measure the length and that the last measurement by the clinic could be wrong. So we're not sure how much he has grown in length this time around.
Stats are:
BIRTH: Head circ - 35.2 cm / Length - 51.5 cm / Weight - 3630 g
2 WKS: Head circ - 36.7 cm / Length - 54.5 cm / Weight - 4020 g
4 WKS: Head circ – 37.5 cm / Length – 57 cm / Weight – 4510 g
6 WKS: Head circ – 38.5 cm / Length – 56.1 cm / Weight 5100 g
I was meant to have my 6 week check up yesterday with my OB but unfortunately he was in a car accident. I am now booked in to see him on Thursday.
DH is off work this week. I love having him around. Means I get out of the house more!
Baiza – I've added you to my MSN Messenger. Is this what you mean for chatting? Or have you set up some sort of chatroom? I love your ticker photo! What gorgeous kids!
Fraser – How's Charlie? We've got that Fess stuff too but haven't tried it yet. DH often gets big boogers out of Cooper's nose. It's surprising how bloody huge they are!
kmh – Hope you enjoyed getting your hair cut! Did you get anything fancy done?
Bubseykel – Yay for Danielle giving you big smiles! Isn't it just the best? Puts you in a great mood.
Shellbabe – I'm still using the shield. I've tried and tried without … at the start of a feed when he's really hungry or halfway through a feed when the nipple is drawn out. No luck. I give up I think. He's happy with the shield and therefore so am I. It's just a pain to use that's all.
chantal25 – Poor Zac. I hope he is doing much better now.
-
Fee - I'm saying the same about Danielle only growing 2cm in 6 weeks. They said they probably measured her wrong at birth as the paed and the clinic nurse had the same length. Looks like he's doing really well.
Chantal - I hope Zac is doing better now. Poor little thing. I hope you are holding up OK.
Shell - Charlotte's name is lovely!! Yay for going to the Swan's game. I was the same about BFing in public. Sounds like you had a lovely time.
Em - how did you go for the rest of the day? I hope you had a sleep when Charlie was asleep. How did the Fess go? I pick Danielle's boogers if they are just hanging on the edge of her nose. Ken tells me off all the time.
We are going well here. I spent 1 1/2 hours at the gym yesterday and loved it! And Danielle was so good in the creche. It was Ken's actual birthday yesterday so we had dinner with his sister and bro in law. I made Chicken, Bacon and Mushroom Pesto with a garden salad and italian bread. It was so yummy. Pitty Danielle was a bit of a cow last night whilst we are having dinner. I've just turned about to see her sucking madly on her hand so I better go. Have a great day.
