Raels, I cannot remember which nappy place I bought it from? It was on line..Darlings Downunder, or Gosh I cant think!??? Hmmm, I'll have to pop into the nappy thread (you should join us there) the store will be listed there! I love it!
Mel, I cant wiat to have Zy weighed next week, he was over 6kgs at his 3mth weigh, he has so many rolls in his legs! Poor man has teeth moving up & down but not cutting through, had bad bad nappies & I noticed a small blister when I got back from getting groceries so nappy free time & now a flushable liner with stacks of bum goop to protect his skin! Hmmm, Indah weighs 11kg & she's just over 2yrs!?
Sacha, ask me how to pack...LOL... I am the queen... We recently went to Bali for 1month & took 1 std suitcase for 2 adults & 3 kiddies!!!
My friends came to see it as they couldnt believe it!!! Pack what you think you need & then remove 3/4!

Ok Ok, first things first you have to read this birth story
The Adventures of Max and Riley - BellyBelly Forums ~ Pregnancy, Birth & Baby
it's written from a dad's perspective and it's amazing.
Raels, I hope you start feeling better soon, I hate having a blocked nose.
 can you squirt booby milk up it  Wow at you guys progressing to pumpkin. I'm not even considering food for at least another month possibly even longer. Although I ,regardless of what MCHN says, will be offering a taste before Xmas, if he wants food it's not fair to sit and watch everyone else eat, and plus I can honestly tell family esp in laws that I know he's not ready for food, and nobody else tries to give him anything.
I've been considering a Jolly Jumper, might be a good extra xmas present for Xavier. But I have also been told you should limit the time spent in one to about 10 mins as it messes with hip and foot development.
Sasha once we hit 3 months I switched to calender months esp as november has 5 weeks, but now I've lot track of how many weeks he actually is. I probably look like a bad mum people ask how many weeks he is and I'm like I dunno.
Tracey isn't it amazing how much love increases when your well rested. I get like that too. Good boy zyon for having such a long sleep!!
V, lol you will get nervous soon enough. I didn't get nervous until the night before I think. but in the week leading up to the wedding I lost 3kg's!! I couldn't eat a thing the day of the wedding. Jason does look pretty spec in his suit. Every time I read about your progress I get excited.
Em, you can get those things with the mesh from target and Big W also if anyone is looking for them.
Mel, wow at jacks weight gain. Question now that he is over the 8kg mark will you be turning his car seat around or waiting a little longer?
Sara, i'm not in bris but I too am a hopeless packer, I would probably be tossing up between taking everything including the kitchen sink and taking the bare minimum and buying clothes if I needed them. The hardest part is how much to pack, what if they spew all over the clothes, or poo even. Is the place your staying got aircon? If it does I'd be inclined to take whatever she normally wears to bed for familiarity and climate controlling the room as much as possible.
Well as for us I am perplexed. We have had some interesting days with the heat, but nothing troubling. The most interesting thing was that on the hot days xavier seems to only poo in the morning and the evening (the cooler parts of the day) and we only have wet nappies for the remainder of the day, suits me fine. Well today the temp plummeted from it starting to rain last night. and every single nappy I changed today had poo in it, and he didn't want to sleep as much as he has been in the hot days.
Well any way best be off, a girl needs her beauty sleep, although it doesn't seem to be working too well here.
-
hey everyone!
Well Jason got to experience tonight what is like to have a very unsettled baby and when I came back from the gym you could see in his face he was realllly frustrated!! Avaleigh has been really unsettled this week, especially the last two days where she hasnt been sleeping much during the day, well pretty much not sleeping at all. So I fed her before going to the gym but she fell asleep on me, put her in her cot and wide awake but happy to lay in the cot. Apparently as soon as I left she was up and crying and Jason couldnt put her down cause she would just scream! So I came home, do hear Avaleigh crying her head off in her bedroom and Jason trying to feed the animals. The poor guy!! He doesnt know how I do it. So I got Avaleigh and fed her straight away but she wasnt happy with that!! So I pulled out a bottle of frozen EBM, defrosted on the stove and after 90mls she was asleep. So, not too sure whats up with her. Makes me feel like I dont have enough milk now.... Gosh, why do we always doubt our supply when things get tough??!!
Well I better get to bed, got a bit of a headache :(
-
Bec - I read the birth story of Max and Riley and it is amazing - made me want to cry and laugh all at the same time. Amazing.
-
Veronica,
to make you stress less (I use this for myself too) I offer boob every 2 hours or whenever Zy doesnt settle & tell myself it's a growth spurt! It takes away my mental thoughts of 'no supply'...
I knwo I have tommes of milk, but whenever they just dont settle you instantly blame yourself!!! So just offer boob more over the next days & if she needs to boost your supply that will do it & you'll take away the guilt from yourself!!!
-
Hi,
Jemima, it is a wonderful story huh. I loved hearing a dad's perspective.
V we all have days like that. Xavier gets fussy like he's rejecting the boob and I have to live with some crying or try and force him to sleep to rectify the situation. Like last night he did it and so I managed to get him to sleep for 1.5 hours, then woke him up changed him into his jamies and fed him, he fell asleep but woke when I was taking him to bed, gave me big smiles and fell asleep on his own, then didn't wake up till 7am. It was great after a hard afternoon. In saying that we never got to his point of no return scream. Once we hit that there is no going back. Dummy in and a rocking motion that only I seem to be able to grasp, (nathan won't even try).
-
Morning Everyone!
Avaleigh slept until 7am this morning, which was a much needed sleep for her after yesterdays efforts! She is asleep right now as well, so thats a good start to the day. Jason woke up this morning feeling horrible with a cold, the cold probably came from Avaleigh. So I cant even imagine how Avaleigh must have felt with it! Hopefully her cold is on the way out and I hope I dont get it!!
Does any one elses bub get sick? This is the 3rd cold she has had and it always seems to come with the change of weather - like when it gets really hot and then goes cold for a few days. I get a sniffly nose when this happens but its nothing major. What can i do to stop this from happening?! I dont want her being sick at every weather change. Maybe I need to rethink what I dress her in when its really hot. She is normally in a singlet and shorts or t-shirt and shorts cause our house is very warm. Its got air con in the middle of the house but doesnt reach all the rooms...
Rebecca - yeh I have that rocking motion too!! I try to get Jason to do it but it doesnt work and we gives up very easily, but he is on his feet all day so I dont blame him for wanting to sit when he gets home.
Tracey - yeh I was thinking last night 'growth spurt'!! hehe try and blame the fussiness on something else. I know I have tonnes of milk cause every morning I wake up and it looks like I have had a boob job!! Oh, I am going to miss the big full boobs! LOL
Question about bub's shots. I got Avaleigh's first shots when she was about 2 months and 2 weeks old. Do I need to wait until she is 4 months and 2 weeks old, so its 2 months in between the shots, or can I go in when she turns 4 months?
-
Good morning,
Blueflower - it is quite warm here at the moment. I only ever dress Oliver in nappy, singlet and t-shirt during the day, night time does cool down a little so he is in summer pj's with a sheet and light quilt/doona type thing that his nan made him. Is the place you are staying at going to have aircon on though? I overpack but the way I see it, better to have too much than not enough!
Tracey - I use the good old dri-glo, white cloths with a snappy and pilchers(although I'm avoiding the pilchers in this weather whenever possible).....love those nappies you use though, are they expensive? When I was pregnant I told my MIL I would be using cloths and she told me she loved me more than ever for that! So she went out and bought me like 4 or 5 dozen of them!!!!
Rebecca - I read the birth story, wasn't it awesome? I especially loved the bit about stopping to get champagne!!!! I have often overheard my DF telling people about Oliver's delivery and I just love hearing his take on the whole thing, and when his voice sort of goes a bit wobbly and his eyes glaze over, I just get goosebumps. LOL about squirting booby milk up my nose! Not really sure about that one but I have heard a bit of breastmilk can get rid of conjunctivitis???
I'm going xmas shopping today, Lexxen wants an MP3 player so I'm off to get the best one for an 8 year old. He asked Santa for a mobile phone!!! Yeah right!!!
Have a wonderful day all.
-
V - you need to wait the whole two months.
-
Rebecca - just got to that point of no return scream! My own fault i let him go to long and now i am paying the price as i had to cuddle him to sleep and am too scared to put him down! Silly mummy!
-
Zyons had 1 snotty nose, which lasted maybe 24 hours? Not sure V, possibly the creche at the gym?
Raels they are roughly $17-$27 each, but resell really well 2 & I am onto bubs #2 with my Modern Cloth... So it works out really well!
-
Hi all!
How are we?
Hope ur all going well, havebeen quite busy today and havent had a chance to read through.
I just had to get something off my chest in the hopes it will stay off for a while...
I want to get preggers again!!! I never thought I would want to so bad, but I really want to have another bubba! I don;t know if It's cos I enjoyed my pregnancy, ( yes even with the horrid morning sickness and the pain and agony of my pelvis..... oh and I nearly forgot the labour!)or if it's cos I just really want kids.
Adam and I have always said 2 kids, no more then 3. I don;t know if we can afford it:S. I keep telling myself, it's too soon. I want my kids to be close in age, but do I want them this close?
We are not actively trying. Thankgoodness says Adam. lol
He doesnt really want to talk #2 till Lach is 12 months old. I just don't know If I can wait another 8 months. I know in the scheme of things its not long....
grrr... stupid head! Stupid hormones!
I don't want to try. not quite yet. I keep thinking how awesome it would be to be preggers again, and have another bubba. I miss Lach being brand new.
He just keeps growing so fast! New things everyday and I can't keep up.
I don;t know if I want more kiddies for the right reasons? I don't know if its just a phase.
I havent said anything to Adam yet, I will soon. I really want to make the most of Lach being so small and being the only one, but I dont want him to be lonely. And I dont want him to be a spoilt little bugger either! I want him to learn to share from an early age. Theres only 17 months between me and my sister, so I cannot remember ever being lonely or alone. I always had someone to play with, and It honestly has never affected me. I know that some people say that having another kiddie so close can make the first child feel a little left out... but I don't ever remember feeling that way.
I was never overly clucky. I knew I always wanted kids. I never knew exactly how many, and we didnt have any probs conceiving. I am worried that if we do leave it too long that it will be a prob.
I don;t know. So many thoughts running thru my head.
Does anyone wanna talk some sense into me?
When does everyone else want to TTC again?
cheers
-
Hi all,
V Changes in the weather quite often make bubs sick. there isn't a huge amount you can do to stop it. Don't worry it will soon be hot all the time
My rocking motion is a sitting form one, I kinda rock from one bum cheek to the next while going shh and quite often holding a dummy in his mouth. Nathan tries to stand or walk and bop at the same time. It just doesn't work. One day I thought he was actually working out what I did but he was just being rude to me.
With the vaccinations best talk to the MCHN as the rotovirus does have to be done a specific times.
Raels the booby milk can't hurt  I loved that birth story that's why I had to share with everyone after I read it. Everyone needs to go and read it.
Nicki, I would dearly love to have another bub and some days I think I would love to be preggo again now and then my common sense kicks in.
1)Sometimes I have bad days now, I can't imagine having these days while tired/sick and in pain of being preggo (and I didn't have a rough time
2)I can't imagine having those bad days again while still having a very needy and possibly in 9 months time very active little boy to chase as well.
3) $$ we want to build a house and will never get one if we do have #2 too soon.
There are probably lots more cons and heaps of pros to having another bubs now but when I sift through these things in my head I realise that i'm not physically or emotionally ready for another.
You need to sort through your own pros and cons with adam, write them down if it helps if at the end of it all you still want another bub asap go for it!!
-
hehe I just told Adam and the look of horror on his face was priceless!!!
lol
Hes def not ready yet.... but at least I have planted the seed in his mind!! BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
-
hello strangers long time no chat - i really need to be more organised so i can get on here more and have a proper convo and not just a passing comment here and there - now i haven't had much of a chance to read through everyones comments so not a lot of personals but i'll do my best
v - michael has a snotty nose at the moment but i think it my have to do with his teeth moving around with the whole ear nose and throat connection - talk about one cranky little man - i'm starting to long for the days when he slept for 20 hours a day  how horrible of me - also i was told to wait the full two mths - we were away when michael was due his 4mths and i thought of getting them about 4 days before we left but was advised it's better to wait til we got back - then there's no chance of double up, overdosing or other adverse affects - but if your really concerned just ring your gp or immunisation hotline
nicky - ah to be preg again - i loved being preg sooooooo much that i can't wait either - the only thing stopping me at the moment is my up coming wedding and everything i've paid for already - luckily by the time the wedding s over with michael will be around the 8-9 month mark and we were thinking of trying again when he was about 12mths so it's forcing us to stop and think.....
well over the last week me and my little my went to newcastle so he could meet his grand parents (my mum and dad) and other extended family members - we had to fly from townsville and he was an angel - i had ppl coming up to me as we weere getting off the plane saying they dident realise i had a baby with me and how good he was - and with meeting soooooo many new faces i was stressed to the max as to how he was going to be and my little champ took it all in his stride and smiled and giggled and hugged to his hearts content - i must admit that there were times i felt like i was only there to transport michael around and nothing more but that disappeared onnce i realised i actually had time to myself for more then 1/2 and hour a day and that i too was on holidays - my mum was more then happy to take care of things and of course the inevitable farewell was made ten times worse because of this - but it's now back to the daily grind - i hope i can get on here more often now
hope to catch up soon
-
hey everyone!
Its so late but I am still awake. I am very tired tho!! Just got some stuff off the net to re-do Jason's dreads. I've decided to take on the hard task of combing out his dreads and re-doing them. OH what have I gotten myself in to??!! They are looking shocking at the moment and needs to be done.
Nicky - Im thinking of TTC when Avaleigh is maybe 15 months. Jason would want to straight away!! LOL I loved being pregnant but I am loving getting my body back in to shape.I want to be better than my pre-pg weight so I am focusing on that and I am loving just having one baby - two would be SO hard!
Jo - mum's are great huh! In the early days Avaleigh was very colicy and wouldnt sleep during the day so I used to hang out at mum's house and all I needed to do was feed her and mum would do the rest (change nappy and burp) Its not like that any more tho! LOL
thanks to those that told me to wait the two full months before getting the next shots. It makes sense and I should have thought of that! LOL Hmm she is due for her shots the day Jason's grandparents come to Perth..
I have a question to those mum's that have you bubby on some solids. When do you give them it? Like, in the morning, lunch, or afternoon/evening??
Well I better get off here and get to sleep! Busy day tomorrow like usual...
-
Hi Everyone.
Just a quick post, I will be gaone for 10 days :( so no BB for me. But:clap: cause its our first holiday as a family.
I have packed, well, just about everything that Kaetlyn owns, with the exception of her cot and change table ;)
We had Photos with santa today. Kaetlyn was very good. she didnt smile for the camera but she didnt cry either! She has this stunned look on her face. We picked the photot where she is pulling on Santas beard and he is discretly pulling it out of her hand, I think he was hurting him by pulling it ;):cryinglaugh:
Well I'm off. its very late and I have to be up early.
Bye
Oh and thanks for the info on weather In Qld Gals
-
Hi ladies
Its pretty late but its been a very "pull all my hair out" few days here, and ethan is finally asleep:clap: So im here to wind down so i can sleep!!
Ethan had his needles on wednesday and im not sure what was in them but he has turned in to a very grumpy little boy:(!! He has been feverish since and his temp was still up tonight so im hoping he will wake up without one in the morning. He keeps crying in his sleep to and i wake up everytime, grrr! I dont go to him though as its only for 30secs or so and he stops.
Well i had the first prospective buyer come look at the house on wednesday and he seemed very interested, so thats great, worst thing was he is not from here so they could only give an hours notice, i could have said no but really want the house to sell quickly so i said yes and had to run around like a headless chook to get the place presentable! Dh comes home tomorrow night, and we will be signing the contract for the new house on saturday, YAY and then going away next week to meet with a finance company. We are also going to perth saturday afternoon as we have a christening to attend (Dh is godfather) on sunday, so i wont be around until monday night as we will get home on monday just in time for me and ethan to make it to mothers group. I have got my glasses now, Woo Hoo i can see again! I didnt actually realise how bad my eye's had gotten until i put them on and it was like OMG I can see Lol!
Sara- How cute re Kaetlyn and Santa! Hope you all enjoy your first family holiday. I was the same with the packing when we first went away, it was only for two days and i packed enough for a month!!
Veronica- Goodluck with the dreads, its a long hard job hey! I stopped giving ethan solids for a weeks as the health nurse scared me but ethan is ready and eats with no problems so have just started again tonight, he had carrots! I give them to him in the evening before his bath, and only a little bit, he would eat the lot if i let him!
Jo- Welcome back to you and Michael:) Glad you enjoyed your little holiday. I agree that mums are great, i think i would have gone mad if mum wasn't around in the first 3 months!
Nicky- Lol at the look on Adams face! When Dh first suggested TTC again i was the one with the priceless look on my face, mind you Ethan was only 4wks old!! My answer the was "Uh yeah right, i think not"! As you know though we are TTC again but we discussed it alot and made sure it was the right thing for us and as we had so many problems TTC ethan we decided we would start. So if we dont get pregnant straight away we wont be disappointed but if we do we will be over the moon. Im not charting, Temping or checking for ovulation etc, so if it happens it happens sort of thing. Hope you come to a clear decision soon:)
Tracey- You have some gorgeous MCN's, my first choice when pregnant was cloth and i went and got heaps of the Old style flats and it just never happened:( Hopefully its different with Bubba #2!
Raels- Lol at Lexxen wanting a mobile phone for christmas! Did you find an mp3 player? I love the name Lexxen btw:)
Ok, everyone else HI and i hope you are all well:) Im off to bed now so if i dont get back on here before saturday i will be back monday night. Oh so much to do between now and then.
Hugs to all. Me and Ethan will miss everyone, hehe!
-
RAELS... I remembered now... Google baby soft landings!!!!!
I love my MCN!!! I used the bright bots terry flats with Maddy every day & night til she was toilet trained, including whilst travelling in Bali... I simply handwashed every nappy after taking it off & left them out in the sun to dry!!! Havent been so strict with the other 2, thye've had their bums in sposies on occasions!!!
Ok gotta run, got a special day today!!!!
-
What is today Tracey? I had a look at your ticker, is the Maddy's Birthday????
OMG, I have been trying to keep up with everyones talk, but you ladies get away from me sometimes.
Doh, I knew if I jumped on here the babies would sense it and wake up, gotta run. BBL..............
-
LOL, Nope her b'day is Monday having her party on Sat night!! A special BBer is popping over to take some piccies of the kiddies so Maddy's having a sickie! Mum is desperate to know why Maddy isnt going to school & thinks we are picking up DH's youngest bro from the airport today! We have let her run with that!! As I am hoping to get some pic's of the kids for her b'day in Dec! Hee hee! We all HATE suprises & usually wreck them by NEEDING to know & then arguing as noone will tell etc, so it gets told & then it's no longer a surprise!
Poor Maddy was in at Mum & Dads y'day after school talking & the 2 of them (Mum & Dad) were harassing her & offering her $$$'s to find out what the secret it!!!!
-
LOL, what a lovely idea Tracey. I'm planning on doing something similiar for my parents. Getting my sisters to give me a photo of their families along with ours to put in a 3 pic frame. Although we don't have a photo of the 4 of us yet, and DH is now overseas. Might just use a wedding shot until he gets back and we get one. Let us know how it goes.
-
DH doesnt know either & it's his B'day on the 13th Dec!! So I am sure we'll get some good shots! Indah just ate a pkt of Sultana's at once & has dribbled saliva & sultana juice all over her clean clothes, will wait now & change later!!!
-
Hi girls - well i am going to start this off by having a little sook.. DH and i are going to a wedding tomorrow so Tom is having his first overnight stay with his Aunty Deb. I have been so looking forward to this wedding - getting hair and makeup done in the morning, new (gorgeous!!) dress, staying in a hotel, catching up with lots of old friends.. but i am so upset about leaving T. I have been on the verge of tears since yesterday. I know he will be fine and my sister is like the Supernanny and i know it will be lovely to have some real adult time with DH... but i am so sad. i know you girls will understand so i thought i will just get it out and hope i feel better by tomorrow. DH has also organised what he thinks is a secret champagne breakfast - the lady rang the house to confirm yesterday - and all i can think is how quickly can we leave in the morning to get home to bubs!!
Tracey - your comment about your parents offering Maddy $$ for her secrets made me laugh. i constantly try to bribe my niece with money. i think she is onto me and will increase her prices soon. 50 cents doesnt go too far these days!
Veronica - you were asking about sick bubs. Tom hasnt been but a girlfriend of mine who has a baby similar age to ours gets sick alot. i think she has had about 4 colds so far - and she is breastfed too, so i think she will just be one of those kids.
Hi Jo! Great to hear from you. i was thinking the other day that you hadnt been around. Great to hear the holiday went so well and that Michael was an angel.
Jessikah - good luck with all your house plans. Busy girl! Tom went psycho after his needles too, poor little bugger. You feel so cruel doing it but i guess its all for the best. He had no reaction from 2 month needles so this was a bit of a shock.
Sara - hope you have a great holiday. I totally get the packing thing. Tom is going overnight and you should see all the stuff i have packed! I have put it down to him being a spewer so he goes thru lots of clothes. i need to get organised with Santa photos. Tom has a little Santa suit that i am going to dress him in. DH is mortified but i think it will be cute. i am trying to get some of my own photos of him so i can organise to do a xmas card but everytime i get the camera out he gets this dopey look on his face and wont smile.
Megan - what is your surname so i can add you on Facebook? i think you may have put it on here before but it would take me days to go back thru all our posts! PM it to me if you dont want to say - or tell me to go away if you dont want to add me . Hope you and Lucas are well.
Well i think that is everything. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and will catch up with things on Monday. Oh, i forgot to mention - Tom has started sucking his thumb. LOUDLY. He had people in the supermarket yesterday in hysterics slurping away. Ok, better go pack and paint my nails and fake tan and all the things i havent had time to do since having a baby!!
-
Em, dont stress, Maddy & I were never apart til after her 3rd b'day, even then it was ONLY over night & I'd pick her up at 8am from Mum's! Then she started wanting to stay at my sisters, so I had to let her. Then in school holidays last year she wrnt for 5 nights to my cousins & I called her 3 times every day! lol she was 8!
Then they had her school camp earlier this year & it was 2 night, with no contact, I was a bit stressed!
Indah has slept twice ever at my sisters (once for our wedding anniversary & the other when I had Zyon!)other than that she's always been with us.
Zyon hasnt been baby sat yet! lol
see we are all over protective nut jobs! lol
-
Morning all,
MM, that's great that you had a little holiday. I bet your mum and dad were wrapped to see michael. I'm sure he would have got spoilt rotten.
V, that's another thing I want too, I would like to be lower than pre-preg weight and I would like a little muscle definition in my mid section before I go back again.
Sara, I hope your holiday is good. lol on the santa photo pic. Was it one where santa would hold her or did you have to be in the photo too? some of them are really picky about that now they don't want to be accused of anything untoward.
Jessikah, I hope Ethans better today, poor little poppet did he get a fever with the first lot of needles?
Tracey / Mel, Photos are the best present 'cause you know they want them and you'll def get your monies worth. Although I think I've overdone photos in the last couple of years so I'm taking a break from anything professional this year. Might try and get some done when Xavier is 1 and hopefully smiling for next year.
Em, Hugs, I understand exactly how you feel, we had a wedding last weekend and one next weekend as well, but both are local and I want the baby sitters (gran or nan) to stay at our house so they can go home and I can have my bub in the same house as me. With me I'm not leaving him overnight with anyone. I want as much time with me as possible before we go into full time child care in january, so I'm hoggin him as much as I can.
I'm also trying to make it know that he will not be passed around like a xmas version of pass the parcel this xmas.
Well, my little man was very kind to me today. he woke just before 6am which I'm fine with, and fed and then went back to bed. I drifted in and out of sleep, heard nathan leave for work around 8 and thought hmm, he's normally awake by now, but went back to sleep myself. 10 past 9 I woke up and sprung out of bed because Xavier very rarely gives me this sort of sleep in. I ran into his room, accidentally bashing his door against the change table which jolted him awake and he shut his eyes again and went back to sleep lol. So now knowing that he was fine I went and had a shower. He slowly woke and started chatting to himself.
So there is my proof of being an overprotective nut job.
I have to say I am loving this wake up and chat to yourself business rather than the crying.
Well it's a little bit of a boo hoo for me today I'm going into work this afternoon to tell them officially that I will be back as at the 7th of January. My childcare placement has been approved I've got full time care. I can see it now I will be more upset than xavier. the care starts on the 2nd of January so I'm planning those 3 days to be our trial run so I can work out this expressing thing where we can take in more milk or ease him into it if necessary. Nathan is on holidays then so it will be good we can do a couple of things together like lunch and go to the movies.
Tracey Question for you: When you expressed while you were at work how did you go with knowing exactly how much milk to leave. Did you always leave more than what indah would drink? I'm planning to have a freezer full so that we have a buffer for the first few weeks, and I won't be too far away from the Child care center if they run out I can go and feed him but I really want to get my head around this, and it's sending me mental not knowing what's going to happen.
-
Morning everyone!
I;m quite busy today (surprise surprise!) Trying to get my house all cleaned up so I can get outta here and go to the shops to get my SS presents and I got a few other errands to get to too and I told dad I would pop in to see if the house needs a clean - mum has been away in sydney visiting my sis this week and dad's been busy with work so being the good daughther I am, I will clean the house. So its a busy day and its going to be a hot day!
Anyway, there was a reason I popped on this morning.. I just knocked my right boob and I felt a really hard lump that is quite sore to touch! This morning Avaleigh fed on my left side and then I expressed 15 mins from my right side and got 100mls, which is 10mls more than normal. Not a lot I know LOL! Anyways, its the first I have had this kind of lump after expressing. Do you think I just didnt get all my milk out or do you think it could be a blocked duct?? I am going to make sure I rub it at the next feed to see if it comes down...

Veronica - about a week or so ago i had the same problem - a hard sore lump. I went to dr and he refered me for an ultrasound saying it may have been a 'lactaction cyst' - dont know if this is the same as blocked duct - and would maybe have to get it drained with a needle if it was filled with fluid. It actually went away over the weekend by itself so he cancelled the app and will just keep an eye on it. If it doesnt go away in the next day or so, maybe you should book into see dr (if you have time with everything else you are doing!! Do you want to come clean my house please?).
Becc - thanks for your kind words. I am looking forward to the wedding but why oh why did they have to get married up in Mornington and not just at home??. Good luck with going into work. My nephew has been in childcare since about 4months old and he is such a happy confident kid who makes friends really easily. My sister cried when she left him there on the first day and she only works in the next room.

:DHi everyone,
just popping on before I go shopping again - got some really good bargains yesterday - OH I love bargains!!!!
Nicky - you sound so confused regarding the TTC, the "need" to have children can be pretty overwhelming sometimes can't it? But that is completely natural, you are a woman after all. DF and I decided before Oliver was concieved that we wouldn't be having anymore. And this was confirmed by DF when he was driving me to the hospital after only being discharged 4 hours earlier for morning sickness one night. We were stopped at a red light while I was vomiting blood, and he looked at me and said "we are NOT doing this again!". I couldn't answer back because I had lost my voice from throwing up too much. Sometimes I think about having another one, especially when Oliver does something new, and I realise that this will be the last time I see my baby roll over for the first time or walk his first steps. But, I am 31, and I know that is still very young but I just cant do it again. The morning sickness, the labour and the pre-eclampsia that I had with both my kids. SORRY - this is sounding like a real sob story isn't it???? Anyway - the most important is that you are both ready.
Tracey - I checked out that site - I will be getting me some of those nappies after xmas for sure!
Veronica - To answer your question regarding the solids - I give Oliver his at around 5/5.30 pm. I chose this time because this is when he was at his hungriest. But saying that I don't recommend feeding them when they are starving because the bub will not be as relaxed and will probably be in too much of a hurry. Oliver always feeds off both sides, so I will give him one, feed him the rice cereal, then pop him on the other side. He is then satisfied and happy to play while we prepare/eat dinner. He then has his bath, back on the boob and then to bed! Works really well for us but just pick a time that suits you. There are no rules as to when they should eat. The important thing is that it doesn't replace a breast/bottle feed. I just had to edit this cause I read back and saw your post about your boob. It does sound a little like a blocked duct. Try massaging it gently toward the nipple at your next feed/express. Good luck with it.
Mrs Daisy - of course you are going to miss your little man - but make the most of getting out and having fun. Oh to have time to fake tan would be great! Oh and Oliver has started sucking his thumb too! The other day we were driving and I couldn't work out what this noise was, I thought there was something wrong with the car!! I kept turning the radio down, then realised it was him, slurping on his thumb like crazy - it was cute.
Anyway I'd better get to those shops - craving a chocolate milkshake!
Happy Friday everyone....

OK, I give up. WHERE IS THE OFF SWITCH????????????????
-
Jan- i have asked myself the same question over the past week! Even a snooze button would do!!
-
I cant keep up with all of you talkers LOL!!
Jan and Megan - thats a classic re the off and snooze buttons. I do understand what you mean - although I would rather Oliver or Jesse had a snooze or off button as they wear me out more than Charlotte
Raels - how did the shopping go? Any bargains?
Tracey - how was the photo shoot? Are we going to get to see some?? I bet they turned out beautifully!
Em - I understand you totally about leaving Tom. its just natural for us mums to worry like that! I still stress about Oliver and Jesse when they stay some where else - which doesnt happen very often. I do hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding though - kick your heels up while you can.
Mel - how are you coping with Luke away?
TOJ - woohoo on being able to see again!!
Bec - Xaviers sleeping habits always amaze me - what a good little sleeper he is!!
V - how is your boob? Did you go to the GP? Oh yes and please come and clean my house too LOL!!
Not much new to report here. We have a such a busy weekend ahead - seems to happen around Christmas time. I am adopted and my birth mother is in Adelaide for the weekend so we are catching up and it always stresses me out beforehand. She is a lovely lovely lovely person but I always work myself up into a lather and then I always end up having a nice time. We are having dinner at her sisters so a couple of wines might help to calm the nerves LOL!!
Gotta run - DH has just gotten home with some takeout - yay no cooking!!
Have a great weekend everyone.
take care
Jem

Oh man, DH has only been away for 1 day, and I miss him already.
Jan, Megan if you find that remote send one my way. he he he
Jem, yummy take out, what did he bring home? I just ate the last of the chinese left overs we had for DH last night at home.
Raels, which shops have you been hitting? I went to Toys r us at Aspley today, and done most of the chrissy shopping for all the neices and nephews, only 2 more to go and I'm done. YEY!!!!
Veronica, how's the boob going? Jason's hair sounds like alot of work. How do you get the dreads out? I'm guessing with alot of beer and a comb, oooouch!!
Jessikah, yey on the interest on your house. Good luck with the finance for your new house too.
Tracey, how did the photos go?
Well, I started the shopping for the garden today. While I was out getting chrissy presents, I walked past a nursery that had 3 Camillias (sp?) for $20, normally 14.99 each. So I got 6 but thinking when I pick them up tomorrow I might get another 3. I plan on running them down the side of the backyard, for a hedge/curtain. I got white and red ones. I can't wait to start. The tree loppers are coming in on tuesday to get rid of a few nasty trees that shed crap everywhere. Then its all about the garden, will be good to keep my mind of missing DH. I also got Charlize her own garden set today, so she can help. She has been miserable lately. She is cutting her bottom molars and they are putting her in agony and really testing my patience and sanity. She is a crazy cutter, she has only the 2 front teeth at the bottom ATM, and now her molars. What happen to the teeth in between???? Talk about cross cutting. The same happen at the top although she had 4 before the molars come through. She will probably have a mouth full of teeth by the time DH is back.
I got the dressings off my foot today and the stitches out. Looks pretty good, considering. Still very swollen and bruised but better than I thought it would look. He said they removed 3 pieces of bone and alot of scar tissue. He did say though, problems like mine have a tendantcy (sp?) to happen again and again and again. Fingers crossed its not the case with me. Stupid netball, who invented the damm sport!!
Have a good weekend all, happy voting!!!

Everyone is so chatty! Hi to all.
I am a little worried tonight. Last night I was up from 2.30 because I discovered Autumn had pushed her way up and out of the sleep positioner and was in the corner of the cot on her tummy. I have been dreading this time since she started rolling as I knew I'd be paranoid. Anyway, I put her back and of course she did it again, so I was up for the next 3 hours umming and ahhing about what to do - she still isn't consistent with rolling back to her back. Today I have resigned myself to the fact that she is now a tummy sleeper and hooked up the sensor pad to the monitor. It means I can't have the ceiling fan on though because it registers it as a baby movement. Does anyone else have the same problem and know a way to overcome it ? - I'd rather not muck around with the sensitivity if there is another way. Sometimes I wish I had the blissful ignorance of 20yrs ago... it's all so freaky being a mum.
Good news on the DH front - he has been given a promotion meaning his roster will change from two weeks away/one week home, to two on and two off. Sadly, he will miss Autie's first christmas but at least she won't know it. We are planning on having our christmas together early and have already put up the tree!
Sorry it's been all about us, I haven't had a chance to catch up today. I expect I'll be up all night though  so maybe there will be more time to get personal later.
Sweet dreams to all the bubbas and their mummies.

Hi all.
LACHS TEETHING!!!! YIKES!!!
And getting 2 at once!
And cross cutting, so he's getting canines first!!!!!!!
How cruel.
I have the panadol and bonjella on standby, and a multitude of teething rings/toys, in the freezer.
Just when I start to have such a happy go lucky boy.... lol
He hasnt started getting too bad yet, but it will come.
He's got the rosy red cheeks and the red gums, and we can see the teeth poking out the front of his gums.
Not sure what to expect or how to deal with it all, but if I expect the worst, then im sure I should be able to handle it!
lol
Night all

Hey everyone!
Thanks to those that answered my question re the sore boob. A little while after that post, Avaleigh woke up and I got her to have a feed cause it was pretty sore but she was happy to go ahead with it! So I massaged the lump while Avaleigh was feeding and she sucked it right out!! The spot is still a little sore now so I will keep my eye on it. First time something like that happened..
Raels - chocolate milkshake - YUM!
Jan - awww! I hope you found that off switch? Happy 4 months to Liam!! Cant believe how quick they are growing.
Jem - good luck catching up with your birth mum, Im sure everything will be great. Is this the first time she will be meeting Charlotte?
Mel - I hope everything is perfect with your foot. Have fun in the garden!! We are doing like right now. Well our mate is actually! haha he works at a nursery and we gave him some money to get us stuff and he picked up 4 big magnolias (sp) for $40 when they actually sell for $200!! He is planting everything for us as well. Not the sort of plants I would have done but oh well, I just keep saying that he most know what to do!
Sacha - I am waiting for the day that Avaleigh flips herself over in bed. She cant flip herself back at the moment and as a little bit of trouble getting her arms out from under herself.
Nicky - Oh wow at the teething!! Good luck with it and I hope you breaze through it. So much for the CHN saying Avaleigh was teething.. that was 4 weeks ago and still nothing!!
Well I had a crazy busy afternoon today and didnt manage to get to mum and dad's to clean  Jason and I have come to the realisation that we cant go away overseas for our honeymoon. Its just not a good time of year because Jason's work closes for 4 weeks so it means he gets paid the week before christmas and then the pay starts up again half way through January. We were going to try to increase our credit card but I dont want to start our marriage that way!! So we may just go down south somewhere nice and lovely, just to get away from it all.
I got a question... Avaleigh is still finding it really hard to fall asleep by herself between her 5-6pm feed and the 9pm feed. She is obviously tired but jsut screams and cries in her bed and wont go to sleep until I rock her to sleep. Does any one elses baby still do this?? I am trying to get her to try and put herself to sleep but she just wont do it and I dont want her getting used to it. I just dont know what to do cause I hate her crying for too long!! Maybe tomorrow I will try and put her to sleep right after that feed...
Anyway, better go and have a shower before the next feed. Have a good weekend everyone and have fun voting! LOL I thought the votes were open all weekend so I was going to go on Sunday. Lucky I heard it closes tomorrow night HAHA!
To all the facebookers - I put some new photos of Avaleigh up.

Veronica, like you know, all bubs are different and they change all the time. Sometimes Jack is happy to put himself to sleep, sometimes he wants a little more bobby juice and falls asleep on the job. Same with Charlize, although she up until the age of about 13 months, never really put herself to sleep. But she does now, so they will grow out of it eventually. As long as it suits you to go with the flow, I would. But if not, I would try recommending stroking her head while she is laying down. Although I know this would probably do squat if she is screaming away. I reckon I would be picking her up for cuddles too. Sorry I couldn't be of much more help.

Trying to remember everything but Indah's singing next to me & I am forgetting!!!
I expressed 180-200ml into the breast milk bags & had about 2 litres in the freezer, so day 1 I gave my sister 4 bags of milk (still frozen JIC), so she put 1 bag in her freezer but let the others defrost, I'd feed Indah at 7:30am, my sis arrived around 8am & I headed off to work, Indah then would have a bottle (tipping the defrosted BM into the bottle) at about 11:30 & then not again til about 3pm, then my sis met me at home at 5pm... So we realised it was only 2 bottle she was having during the day, but I gave her 3 bottle's worth of BM every day (JIC) keeping 1 in the freezer!!
So I'd express 3 times a day at work (each time getting about 200ml) & then I'd always walk in the door & offer her breast before going about making dinner etc!!!
I hope that helps!!!
Umm, I cant think whatelse now!!!
Oh when I get the pic's I will share with you!!!!
-
Mel - thanks for that! I know a while back Avaleigh was sleeping OK at that time, but like you said, they change all the time! I would rather pick her up and settle her then hear her cries but you get those people that say not to pick up all the time cause they know and will always be crying. Just gets to you and you think that maybe you shouldnt pick them up! ARGH! Im the mum here I should just do things my way and not listen to anyone else. I'm going to be the type of person to not give any advice unless asked!!
-
Veronica - i am having the exact same problem at the moment. The last few nights Lucas refuses to sleep between the last two feeds anywhere but my arms and he has lost the plot with falling to sleep on his own, but if i rock him to sleep when i put him down he wakes up anyway. I always have that voice in my head saying "don't pick him up, he'll get used to it, don't rock him to sleep he will expect it", but its a catch 22 cos if you don't pick them up and put them to sleep they scream and dont sleep and end up grumpy as ever. I agree with the ARGH! Sometimes i think we just have to do what works and worry about it later if it becomes a problem but it is easier said than done!!
Nicky - good luck with the teething!
Sacha - good luck with the rolling!
Mel - I agree with netball, its ruined me! Hope you are feeling ok and i am sorry you are missing DH so much!
Jem - hope the lunch with your mum goes ok!
Well i am having one of those mornings...the more you need your baby to sleep because you are going out and don't want them to be grumpy, the less they do!
Happy voting!
