Hi Ladies.
Hope you and your bubba's are all well:)
Mel- Your children are gorgeous, such happy little faces. They look alike too! How is your study going? and Hows your client?
Megan- These accidents are horrible arent they. Ethan is forever falling down and i panic everytime. What a PITA having a photo like that on your sale sign. We never had photos done of our place as the real estate guy was lazy! But it was ok as it was only on the market for a week.
Raels- Things sound a bit stressful for you at the moment. Hope oliver is ok now. Hope lexxen start being your little 9 yr old again soon and i hope by the time you read this DH has had a chat with you and things are ok again. We have no teeth here either!
Sacha- So glad for you that autie is sleeping a bitter longer especially with Dan being away. Im thinking about going to playgroup with Ethan too, just have to work up the courage as im too shy. I cant help with the Brauers teething relief, sorry.
Bec- Hang in there, you are doing so well, to be honest i think your doing a fantastic job working and being a great mummy to xavier:hug: I couldnt cope with it all i dont think:redface: Hope your little man is eating better soon, its hard when they go off food hey, ethan wont have his meat and vege's or rice cereal he only wants fruit or yoghurt, but if he eats half his breakfast i let him have fruit same with lunch and dinner. Oh he eats bread okay with a bit of vegemite and occasionally i let him have a biscuit of some sort, not chocolate though.
Well DH is home again and we are going to be busy busy over the next few days. I have managed to get a good 5 hrs sleep lastnight, i have found a natural product that seems to be going ok. They are Pennington Foot Patches, 7 day detox program. You put them on your feet when you go to bed and they draw the toxins out of your body, they are used for heaps of stuff. I got them from a natropath. Ethan is fine, he has been standing up without holding on to anything a few times today and yesterday for about 30 seconds. Bit scary lol.
Ok well i must go DH is calling:doh: if its not the little man wanting attention its the big one!! Hehe. BBL.

Hi girls! I have been MIA a bit lately, there has been so much going on here that i haven't really had much time. I have been trying to keep up to date with all the posts, although I don't think I will have much luck with personals!
Jess -glad you found something natural and are getting a bit of rest. These boys certainly keep us on our toes!
Bec - I do pretty much what Sacha suggested in feeding T in front of the tv some days. Other days there is lots of singing and pulling faces to keep him amused. He always laughs if you yawn, so plenty of fake yawns, laughing and then sticking the spoon in quickly.
Mel - I had a quick look at your site - will go back and have a proper look later. The pictures are just gorgeous! Such beautiful kidlets!
Sara - I don't offer dessert in things like custards etc because they tend to make T spew. I do give him two courses though. 4 or 5 cubes of fruit or veggies, then offer him 1 or 2 cubes of another fruit just for variety.
Good Luck with selling Megan. Love the story about the sale board! Hope Lucas is feeling ok - don't worry I dropped Tom too right on his head and it was horrible. You were asking about yoghurt - I had a look on the Solids part of BB and alot of the girls recommended Jalna yoghurt. They have it in Coles i know.
Well, Tom has cut his first tooth so lots of crap sleeping and grizzling around here. I think he takes after his father - you know the if I am sick, it's "you'll be right', but if he's sick, it's "I think I'm dying. I think I have Asian bird flu". Still no crawling properly as suchbut he is certainly making his way very quickly around the house. Eating is so so. Was going well. Then this tooth interupted things so hopefully everything will be back to normal soon!
I have been a bit sick over the past few weeks. I am pretty sure it is gastro that is hanging around. I get up every day and vomit - i know it clearly sounds like i am pregnant but i'm not!! Have been to doctors and everything. Going back today so hoping they figure it out soon. It is horrible, its like having morning sickness all over again! It has reinforced the fact that I definiately need to wait before TTC again, as i have found it so hard with T and being sick. I had super bad morning sickness last time, and although they say every pregnancy is different, I cant risk it!
I'm not sure if you remember my big job saga that was going on - was told no job available after maternity leave. Well, a week or two ago they offered me two days a week starting this coming Tuesday. I ummed and ahhed about it, but decided to accept - booked Tom into childcare and everything - then yesterday was offered another job that would be three days a fortnight, roughly same pay and lovely lovely people! So quit my old job this morning (a bit nerve racking) and I start my new one after Easter. Really looking forward to it! I felt really sick about putting Tom into childcare to go back to my old job, but feel good about it for this one. It will one day a week most weeks.
Better go - my house is sooooooooo messy so better do some tidying before it gets too hot here. Have a good day!
-
:cryinglaugh: men and their asian bird flu! PSML em! Gosh I hope you feel better soon. Touch wood, I haven't been sick since having Autie but knowing my luck it would happen while dan is away. The whole being pregnant with a baby/toddler thing is the only thing holding me back from TTC. Though we were naughty the other day and I think it was at a bad time so I am waiting to see if I will pay for our 'stuff it' attitude. LOL TMI?! Congrats on the job. Hope it all goes well with day care - have you taken him in for some play visits to get used to it?
Jess, you should just jump in there if you want to go to playgroup. Don't worry, half the other mums will be just as shy and it's easy to talk babies if you have nothing else you want to say. for Ethan and his standing - how clever!
-
Sacha - we have been for a look around but haven't left him there by himself. My sister actually works there and runs the toddler room next door to the baby room, so am i pretty confident she will help him out if they decide to sticky tape up his mouth and lock him in a cupboard. There was an article about that in the paper the other week and i just thought God, another thing for parents to feel guilty about!
As for your question about the Brauers Teething relief, I haven't noticed it with Tom but he does spit out 99% of it. I am now trying those Teething relief tablets and they seem pretty good.
Jess - you should give playgroup a go. I am the shyest person ever but it is so much easier to talk to people now - you just talk about kids and if other conversation follows then great! You can go once and if you hate it, don't go back. Are you in a mum's group or anything? I can't believe Ethan is standing up! He is obviously doing very well after his horrible time with the spider bite.
-
hi everyone!
Megan- You poor thing :( Link fell off the couch about 3 weeks ago and I felt like a terrible parent! But now I feel better cos it happens to other people too! lol
Em thats awesome news about the job! Congratulations! How exciting!
I hope everyone is doing great.
Take care
xox
-
Em - well done on the new job! Thats ace that your sister works at the childcare centre Tom will go to, what a relief! Had to laugh about the bird flu...oh so true!! Hope you start feeling better it must be horrible, surely Tom will understand mummy isnt feeling well and be a good little boy!!
Well you will all appreciate this...had another look at the For Sale sign and the rubbish hanging out of the bin, a nappy in one of those orange nappy bags......;);)
Dh is on a bucks weekend this weekend so prepare to hear me whinge!!
-
Megan - argh! Bucks parties suck don't they? Whinge away, we will all understand!!
Em - a couple of the girls at mother's group today were raving about those teething tablets. Might have to try them when Oliver's teeth start popping through, whenever that may be! :cryinglaugh: about the Asian bird flu!! Hope you find out what is making you sick, must be awful for you.
Sacha - great to hear Autumn isn't waking up every hour now. Hopefully she will start stretching it out even more and give her mummy some rest!
Jess - glad you are getting some more sleep. I suffered from insomnia years ago and it was not nice! Those patches sound great. Might be good for my DF, he is onto his fourth week of no cigarettes and is getting headaches. Well done to Ethan on the standing! It is scary though isn't it. You should definitely go and join a playgroup. I am a very shy person also but I started up a mothers group all by myself!! It was scary and I thought it was going to be a lot of hard work but it has turned out really well and I have met some great ladies.
Well DF is out of his cave now. Gosh these men......he was worried about some stuff at work and also Lexxen's behaivour. He knows I am worried about the exact same stuff at the moment but still couldn't talk to me about it.
Oliver is getting over his cold. He says dad-dad ALL the time, and so clearly now! He seems to have dropped a feed too. He used to feed every 3 hours during the day but now he is going 5 hours between his breakfast feed and lunch one. I got a bit sad cause I realised that one day there wouldn't be any bfeeding at all but that will be a while yet!!!
Had mother's group again today. Four new ladies came and they were all lovely!
What has everyone got planned for the Easter break? DF wanted to go away up the coast somewhere but I don't really want to spend too much money. We might take the kids to Australia Zoo, it is only about 20 mins from here and we haven't ever been!
Hope you are all well. :D
-
Hi ladies
**Whinge Alert**sorry:redface:
My eyes are hanging out my head atm but Ethan is still up:o Due to being very over stimulated right before bed time so he is now soooo over tired and just wont give in (thanks DH) Dh is trying to settle him atm but told me i have to stay up to because he is tired and has to go to bed soon so i will have to deal with bubba!! I said that he should just go to bed and let me settle him and he said that im a grumpy **** and that if i disciplined "the little ****" he would be asleep and Dh wouldnt be up all night with a grumpy baby!?? WTF! I actually controlled myself and walked away but im so damn angry right now. Sorry ladies.
Whinge Over!
I Just had to calm down a bit before i go back in to the same room as Dh.
Will pop in tomorrow for a hopefully happier unselfish post.
Night night.
-
Jess - what a horrible night! I hope DH gets a good talking too!
Well i have had a horrible start to a weekend alone and Lucas has just woken after 15 min so will elaborate later! AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHH!
-
:wall: to your DH Jess. for you. Lucas was exactly the same last night.
Megan ~ My DF has refused a bucks night, probably because he knows he will end up naked and tied to a pole somewhere.
Em ~ Hope you are over the worst of your sickness. That gastro thing is going around here too ATM. I need to remember to buy some of that water free hand wash for work.
Raels ~ No plans for easter but your plans for the zoo with Oliver sounds fun.
Sacha ~ We were doing the ?stuff it? thing too there for awhile but anxiety of the two week wait without wanting the two week wait was not good! Autie sounds like she is doing really well :D
Mel ~ Hope the kids are both well and I will come back and check out your site ASAP. Your sisters wedding is not far away and it sounds like it will be a beautiful weekend.
Sara ~ Your DD sounds like one very active little girl! I only give DS dessert if he is still hungry after dinner which is not very often, but he was last night though and he had a big bowl of custard.
I use the Heinz organic vanilla custard powder BTW, does anyone else? I've also started Lucas on the Bellamys rice pasta stars which he gobbles up. They are a bit gluggy to cook though. He also really likes their organic oats too.
Anyway better get a move on as I am hosting a baby shower today!!
My cousin is 36 weeks and cheering for the blue team as she already has two beautiful little girls. I would love a little boy cousin too for Lucas as they will be less than a year apart in age and will grow up together. Their family already has 5 grand-daughters and no sons, so go the :babyboy: team!!
Have a great weekend everybody xox
-
Have fun today AMM. I love baby showers. And go team BLUE!!!!
BBL got to do this stupied voting again,
-
Hi everyone,
Hope your all going well everything is going good here! Noah will be 8months on Tuesday and I cannot believe it all a bit scary really it will probably seem like tomorrow and he'l be all grown up!
Mel, been meaning to ask who did those baby pics they are really gorgeous and I live in the redlands so shouldn't be too far from me and how much did they cost and what for?
-
Hey Jas, the place is called Picture Moments at Wishart near Mt Gravatt, so not far from you at all. I grew up in the Redlands, Mum and Dad still live at Vic Pt. We may have even bumped into each other as I'm always down that way :p Anyway, depending on how many pictures you choose depends on cost. If you purchase over 7 poses, they put them on a disc for you, and they even gave me a few others which was great as I loved them all but could only really afford so many:rolleyes: So offically 7 poses, 2 sheets per pose (8 different sizes per pose) and the cd was $400 but that was with a 10% discount. But I ended up with 8 hard copies and 10 on the disc as the guy was really nice. I have been told that it is a reasonable price but have no idea really if it is, I just loved the photos they took of Charlize when she was the same age so I went back without getting prices from other places. PM me if you like and I'll give you there details:). Hope this helps.
Well ladies I did have plans to catch up tonight but I'm about to crash.
BB2morrow nighty night
-
Hi! the baby shower was lots of fun and the mum was spoilt which is great. I'm making some baby vege stock ATM to use for recipes in the Annabel Carmel book. I'm thinking of using some to make the lentil puree for Lucas' dinner tonight. Has anyone else fed their bub lentils yet?
-
Yum lentils went down a treat  I didnt bother to puree them as they were nice soft and really flavoursome from being cooked in the stock, so he ate them just mixed in with some sweet potato.:dance::dance: Yum!
-
amm - lentils are great aren't they? I have been giving them to Oliver for a few weeks now. I was told to make sure they are rinsed and soaked really well (preferably overnight) and then rinsed well again as they can cause lots of wind if not prepared properly!!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
Raels.

Hi girls,
have been MIA because I'm staying at Mum & Dad's while we get our bathroom done, and have to wait for Dad to get home with his laptop for me to use a computer, and even then I'm too lazy/too knackered to logon. So too much to catch up on in this go, cos I've got to get dinner organised, and bathtime organised, then feeding organised - you all know how it goes.
A little bit of me me me news - finally, after some remedial work with his grandmother, Liam has taken to eating solids. Mum & I do a tandem job - 1 of us holds his hands, the other operates the spoon. It was challenging at first, but now the gagging, raspberry blowing and general dissatisfaction have been replaced by opening mouth and frustration when the spoon doesn't appear quickly enough. I mean seriously, how mental are kids. Anyway, it's very exciting for me, although my workload has now increased cos I'll have to start doing meals for Liam too, but I think I can cope with that :)
Anyway, big hello to all of you, hope everyone is well & has had a good weekend, and that the boys who went on buck's nights behaved themselves.
-
AHH well i just survived my last bedtime routine on my own.....woo hoo! Weekend went fine really, i just get so bored on my own of a night (nothing sinister meant by that!) and its great to have a break from a pooey nappy from time to time! But Lucas has been an angel, my little cherub i am so proud of him for being so good! I spent the day at mum and dad's yesterday cos the stupid real estate agent organised an open house and didnt even tell us till the day before and it had been in the paper the week before! I was furious cos it meant i had to clean etc etc on my own. Anyway i went to mum and dads so i wouldn't smash the guy when i saw him!! MIL was here for the afternoon today so it was good to have a break from "playing"!!
Jan - I am so glad Liam has become an eating machine...good work!!
AMM - I have been meaning to try lentils but have not got around to it yet...too lazy. What is the name of the Annabel Carmel book? I think Em has it too, is it worth getting? Are you getting married soon?
Well must go eat something other than chocolate, DH bought me two big blocks before he went away and i have had a fair crack at them!!
-
Mmmm... chocolate....
I usually have some in the fridge and I ran out  Could really use some right now.:(
Em, that's great you have an insider at childcare. I used to hate when that happened and I had to stop putting kids in the cupboard...taking them out to the toy shed instead was such an effort. ;) Are you feeling better?
Megan, how did DH hold up? I was just remembering Dan's buck's night - he came home at 12 and went to bed and I stayed up with his best mate and his gf and we all got drunk together LOL It's funny because I'm not a drinker and he is! (well he used to be - much more settled now) I know what you mean about nightime boredom - that's why I'm on here so much and spend too much on ebay LOL
Raels, we went to the zoo on the way to our honeymoon. I definitely recommend hanging out at the otter enclosure - I could've watched those guys for hours. We're going on a three night trip to Iluka (about 3 hours from us) just after easter. I'm excited to get away, but it's our first time away with Autie and I'm dreading both the car trip and the sleeping situation. Fingers crossed it's not as bad as i'm imagining. Clever little Olli saying 'dad'! Autie's not even close -still on the monkey noises.
Jess, how are you and Ethan going? sorry to hear you had a hard time. Hope it hasn't happened again but if it does, try re-doing your whole bedtime routine (bath, story, whatever) even if it's two in the morning. Worked for me the one time Autie played up like that.
 on the eating success Jan! Hope he realises the joy of food now LOL
August, I LOVE when Dan cooks me lentils in stock - so much more flavour. I'm worried about the wind thing though, so I haven't given them to Autie. She's got enough to sail a ship as it is! (wind that is)
Well, we're having big eczema problems atm. She scratches herself raw and bloody - so sad for her. The naturapath who got us pregnant (at Sharkey's healing centre) saw her last friday and we have gone back to fruit, veg and meat only. Nothing packaged or tinned, no cereals or dairy. Everything organic ($6 for a cauliflower :o )She has *another* cream to put on (I have a cupboard full) plus good bacteria to take. I am watching what I have too and taking supplements to go through my milk. Plus a host of different things in the bath (oils) :wall: It's driving us both nuts I tell you. The cortisone cream I finally resorted to before going to the naturapath, worked fabulously until i stopped using it. Now it's come out worse than before - never using that stuff again! That's my grumble for today.:boohoo:
On the plus side, she is waving goodbye, following certain instructions and having good day sleeps (touch wood) Yey!
That's all I got.
-
:hello: everyone!!!
Hope you are all well! We have been busy busy as usual... just a quick post from me tonight.
Has anyone had any problems with their bubs not eating anymore?? Oscar used to love his food and now everytime I try to give him some he spits it back at me. I mean everywhere! He will have 1 teaspoon then blurt the next few out. I have tried giving him finger foods and letting him feed himself but nothing is working?! Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do?! I have tried all different foods, textures etc! I just :dunno:
-
They can lose appetite when teething or too busy thinking about new skills. Maybe he just has too much on his mind :) Autie has 3 teeth coming through and is eating less lately. Unless he is losing weight or sick, I wouldn't worry as they don't starve themselves. I would just keep offering like nothing is wrong and not make a big deal of it to him. That's just my opinion. Good luck :)
-
Hey there July Mummies!!
Do you all remember me?? hehe I hope so!! I hope all are keeping well and your bubbies are going up big and strong!
Avaleigh and I are going good, well kinda!! We are in need of some HELP.... I cant get Avaleigh to sleep through the night anymore and its driving me insane! I miss having a full night sleep. She will go down to bed around 8pm, wake up around midnight screaming and standing up in bed, if I put her down, she will scream some more so the easiest thing to do is give her a feed. She will then wake up between 4am and 6am and I can sometimes give her her dummy and she settles or I need to feed her. I have tried a few things to get her to sleep, like - a bottle as well as both breasts for the last feed. I am mixing breastmilk with formula and she will have between 60 - 100 mls as well as boobs, but its not working! I've only tried this for the last week.. my mum suggests to put a teaspoon or less of rice cereal in to make it thicker..... has anyone got any suggests??!!
-
HI Everyone,
Trust it to be busy when I am really tired LOL! I willl come back and do personals tomorow.
Have had a crap day.
Firstly, this morning I was at my mums old house doing some gardening when about ahundred little black insects flew at my face. I got stung by one on my nose, I ran inside and called DH right away in a panic cause I didn't know what it was that had bitten me. It turns out it was a wasp! I am lucky it was only one bite. DH came racing over- he was looking after KAetlyn, so jumped in the car and zoomed over. He rang the hospital to see what to do- they dont give advice over the phone, but said ring poisons info line, so he rang them, and they said all is good, just ice it, take some antihistamines, and if there is any signs of an allergic reaction go to hosp. DH also said that I was BF is it okay to continue, the nice man on the other end said yes as the venom will not go into the mammery glands. Phew. Then about 2 minutes later, he called back (obviously they keep the phone number on record) and said that I could only take claratyne while breastfeeding. And was 'sorry that he forgot to mention it the first time' Which we thought was very nice of him.
All is good though, it just feels like someone has whacked me in the nose all day, and the tip is red. It was swollen before but seems to have gone down.
I was in such a frantic before Dh arrived, bacause my father was allergic to wasp stings. If anyone else has had one before, they bloody kill!!!
Then I was cooking dinner for all DH's family tonight, and spilt some oil on the floor (we have timber floor boards) and it went every where. So in the middle of cooking dinner for 9 people I had to clean up the oil, which let me tell you, is not easy- makes the floor very slippery!
Then not long ago, DH was in bed trying to sleep and there was this loudest bang. I raced into the room, and he was freaking out. He thought someone had done a 'drive by' as a car went past at the same time as the bang.
It turns out a battery exploded in his 'sports ears' (its like a little walkman that you get ref comments on at footy games). Before that, we were trying to figure what had happened, there was some little black bits on the floor, so I started picking them up. We realised what had happened, the battery had exlopeded, putting battery shards and bits of plastic from the packaging everywhere and then I felt my hand burning. Turns out I had battery acid on it:doh: so I started pannicing, and there was battery acid all oer our bed room, so I have just finished cleaning that up, and my hand is still stinging, so going to search the net to see what else I can do to stop the burning.
Its been a bad day so will come back tomorrow for personals!
Wow what an eventful day!
-
Hi ladies:) (i thought some colour would be nice!)
Well im up due to DH snoring!! OMG it sounds like there is a bear in hibernation in my room:( I had to get up as it was starting to look like the only way to shut him up was with a pillow over his face!! Lol not really, but tempted!
Veronica- HI! Its great to hear from you. Im sure we have all missed your posts. Sorry to hear that your having sleeping issues with avaleigh, im having the same with Ethan too! How are you all?
Sara- Oh hun what a horrible day! Hows your nose? and Your hand? Hope you slept well and have a better day today.
Dani- Yep Ethan is the same with his food at the moment to, like sacha said i just keep trying and make sure he has enough water/milk. Im sure they will soon realise what they are missing out on and eat up again.
Sacha- mmm Chocolate! I had a yummy magnum ego tonight and thought yeah that will kill the craving but nope i want MORE lol! Thanks for the advice re redoing the routine over and trying to put him in bed again, i didnt think of that:doh: Poor Autie with the eczema:( Hope its sorted again soon, must be so frustrating for her.
Megan- Yay for your DH being back! Now you get a nappy break lol I went to the shop yesterday and when i got back DH handed ethan to me and said he missed me...yeah right he had done a pooh!!
Jan- So happy for you that liam is finally liking his solids, good little man. I bet thats taken some stress of your shoulders.
AMM- Glad the baby shower went well. I have not done lentils yet, i forgot about them might have to try them, ethans being a bit fussy at the moment so if he enjoys it it will be great.
Jas- It is scary how quickly they are growing up isn't it! How are you and Noah?
Thats it for personals now, hi to everyone else.
Well im dreading today as i have to have a papsmear:doh: Its never really worried me before but i have kept putting it off since having ethan! Other than that i dont think i have any thing else planned oh except washing! DH needs all his stuff washed as he goes back to work tomorrow.
Okay bye for now ladies im going to see if this bear is quiet yet:D
-
hey Jess, yes the colour is fab! You sound alot happier which is great. Sorry I dont have any tips for the snoring. DF snores only sometimes and I put my hand over his face which shuts him up. lol. :cryinglaugh:
Oh Sara you poor thing thats alot of things to happen to you in just one day! Hope you are feeling ok today.
Jas, nice to hear from you and Noah, my DS will be 8 months this weekend too.
Veronica, nice to hear from you and Avaleigh too, but sorry to hear she has been waking up. I'm sure you have tried a dream feed? Or maybe she has wind pain as you said she wakes up screaming? I hope things settling down again for you soon.
Dani, I copied and posted something a little while back about why bubs can go off their food. But I think Sacha has pretty much covered it in her post.
Raels, Yes you definatley have to rince the lentils but I didnt know its to help elimanate wind? I made red lentils which you need not soak over night. I used half a cup of lentils bought to the boil in two cups of the stock I made, then simmered them for about 30 mintues and they were perfect. It made one tray worth for freezing and enough for 2x dinners in the fridge. I'm going to make up another lot today while I have the chance since they went down well.
Sacha, a trip to Iluka sounds great. We had our first holiday away after xmas and it was great. Lucas slept in his portacot and was fine, I set it up and let him play/snooze in there for the week before so it was not new to him when we were away. LOL at Autie having enough wind to sail a ship
Jan, good luck with the solids I hope it continues to go well for you!
Megan, Yes the book is the same one and its called the Baby & Toddler Meal Planner. I found it at a second hand bookshop when I was pg and I think it would be worth buying. She focasses alot on flavour and variety. As for the wedding it will be next year (have not set a date) we have already changed plans alot so I'm actually over it already!! I just want to say 'I do' without any fuss which is hard when everyone has an opinion. :wall: We have only been engaged for less than 6 months so I've decided to just enjoy the moment for awhile and concentrate on saving for the time being.
My DF is away tomorrow night, or so he reminded me this morning. It's a pain because he has to travel 6 hours and be away overnight just for a meeting. Why they dont do it via satalite and save everyone the trouble I do not know. I know I should not complain too much though as I know other mums here go without their DH for much longer.
The surf must be big today, I can here it from here might be worth going to a walk to check it out later.
Have a great day everyone!
-
amm - oh I hear you on the whole wedding thing. I just want to elope but I can just imagine how some people will react!
Jess - thanks, you reminded me I need to go for a pap smear soon! Horrid things that they are...but it's got to be done!
Sara - !!!!!! What a day you had!!! Hope you're ok this morning!
Veronica - sorry to hear that Avaleigh isn't sleeping too well but it is quite normal for her to be waking like this. She is still quite young and it could be for a number of reasons. Could she be getting cold during the night? I don't know how you feel about co-sleeping but maybe you could bring her into your bed, maybe not after the midnight waking, but the 4am one? Regarding the rice cereal, in my opinion putting it into a bottle is not necessary and I doubt it will help her sleep. It could have the total opposite effect and worse still give her a nasty pain in the stomach or make her constipated. Does she have any teeth yet? Could be this. Hope it all settles down soon for you!
Sacha - poor Autumn and her eczema. Hope it all settles soon with the new diet. How frustrating for you though! I love Iluka, have been a few times with my DF. It is a beautiful little town.
Ooops gotta go, screaming baby. BBL
Raels. xo
-
Lucas just slept for 2 and a half hours! AMAZING! :D He hasn't done that for about 6 months! I think he was apologising for the hour he had me up between 9.30 and 10.30pm before DH got home!! Cheeky monkey!
BBL...now he needs food!!
-
Hi
Lach has only slept through the night ONCE in his whole life... I don't really think babies are meant to sleep through the night... they are meant to give their parents greif!!
not alot happening here... except for the heat. It's driving me and Lach mad! The poor bloke.
Sacha - so sorry to hear u are having problems with eczema. Lach was having problems, and the alpha kerri lotion has cleared it up, as well as keeping him really cool, as the heat is what causes his. I hope you can find an answer. Poor little girl.
anyways, i'm off to chill out, lie on the couch with the air con on flat out and watch some scrubs DVDs.
Have a cool day everyone:)
-
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I havent tried a dream feed but was think of maybe putting one in before I go to sleep cause I am in bed by 10pm and then I am getting waken aorund midnight. Last night was good, only one wake at midnight and then she slept through to 7.30am. Maybe she does have wind pains cause last night she burped (and in the process spewed on my bed!!) and only woke up once. I am find it hard to burp her these days tho... I will try and make an extra effort. I am not too fussed about the midnight feeds cause then atleast I know that I am still keeping my milk supply up!
Apart from the waking, Avaleigh is going really well. I love her soo much!! She is crawling around everywhere, real fast too! Pulls herself up on everything (can be annoying at times), getting into everything (she especially loves the blue light on the computer!). We have all got bets on to when she will be walking. Jason and I first said 8 months but I have now changed it to 10 months and my mum is saying 11 1/2 months. LOL It would be real funny if she doesnt start to walk until after 1 year!! No teeth here yet, which I am thankful for cause I am scared of biting while breastfeeding.
I am going really good too!! We had a major computer crash 4 weeks ago but luckily all my data and photos were saved and computer fixed. Now I am backing everything up, somethng I should have done in the first place.... Been busy decorating my house, well only really painted some walls, waiting for money to start buying stuff... Ummm what else... OH I am now 9kgs below my pre-pg weight, which I am absolutely stoked about! Now I just got to buy some new clothes.. haha but have no money!! ahhh darn interest rates. So yeh, thats how I am!!
So what is everyone feeding their lil bubba's these days and are you mashing or have puree food? I need some suggestions because I think Avaleigh is getting a little sick and tired of what I have for her!! I have a freezer full of carrot, pumpkin, potato, sweet potato... I think thats all... and how is everyone doing meat? I have just bought some stuff from the shops that has meat in it but would like to make my own stuff..
anyway, better go. Lunch time here for both of us!

Wow! Lots to catch up on. We had a slow patch for a while there! I have read all the replies but sorry if I miss anyone because i am on hold with the phone company and it is distracting!
First of all - Sara - you poor thing! Hope you are ok. I have been stung by a wasp and it is really painfully. Never been burned by battery acid though.. Have you broken any mirrors lately, walked under ladders or run over black cats?? Hopefully your run of bad luck will be broken!
I really can't think to do personals - "your call is important to us blah blah blah' - so i'll just do a random update! We are having a bit of trouble with eating and drinking at the moment too. MCHN thinks its his teeth - one thru and more on the way - so not to be too concerned, but it is hard when you are worried they will dehydrate! On Saturday T drank 60mls for the whole entire day and wouldn't eat any of his food. I managed to get him to drink water out of my water bottle and someone at the cricket gave him a ham, cheese and lettuce sandwich which he thought was fab! Things were normal on Sunday, now today he is refusing it all again. Soooo frustrating!
DH had his cricket grand final over the weekend - they won and he is now MIA.. likely location the pub. You would of thought they won Olympic gold from the way they were carrying on. He got home at 5am this morning - got into bed turned on the telly and ate a whole block of cheese. What is it about men when they win sports that they need to drink? Is it to block out the memories? They are so silly sometimes.
It is super super hot here today - Nicky I am feeling your pain. Bring on the cool change tomorrow! Have any of you Victorian girls (and not sure which other states have it) thought about Daylight savings finishing yet? I did post a question in the baby section but all the replies i got were just from people telling me when daylight savings actually finished, so that was no help .
Easter.. we are having a weekend at my sisters with all my other sisters, so really looking forward to it. Can't believe this time last year i was pregnant and eating like 5 Darrell Lea easter eggs a day. The Thurday night DH has his cricket presentation - sorry I can't go, have to look after Tom ;) - so Good Friday will be spent in peace watching the Children's hospital appeal.
Just scrolling down thru posts.. call still important to them..
Sacha - I'm not feeling that much better so went today to get blood tests etc done. Dr thinks it is a virus that is just hanging around. The lady at the pathology asked how many weeks pregnant I thought i was, so they must be testing for that. I was like "I'm not!!". Have done home pg tests and at the dr's as well.
Hi Veronica - good to hear from you. Love your ticker pic. In regards to meat - i haven't really tried it because I always think Tom will be having a no-food day when I offer it to him! The MCHN suggested giving him a little piece of steak or chicken to suck on to get the taste for it.
Oh - better go. Call answered finally!!!

Hi Veronica, nice to hear you are all well. Can't really help with the sleeping, but if it makes you feel better, I have not had a full night since 21/2 months old and atm am waking 2 hourly on a regular basis. Good luck :) Food wise, Autie has mash unless it has to be pureed, but usually eats most things in chunks on her own. I do poach chicken, beef and lamb for her and keep some cut up fine to mix with veg, and some in chunks for chewing on. She has heaps of different veg (all those you mentioned plus: peas, broccoli, cauliflower, avocado, zucchini, spinach, squash, onion) She also has fruit but it has to be mixed in veg as she's not so keen on it. HTH
Sara you really had a shocker! Did you manage to find a cure for your acid burn? Aloe vera helps most burns I think.
LOL Jess your DH sounds like mine in the snoring department! When he's home, Autie and I never sleep well. Sometimes I'm secretly glad when he falls asleep on the couch and doesn't come in until early morning  Was your papsmear as bad as you thought it would be? I got mine done at my 6wk checkup so none for two years - yey!
Oh August I'm jealous of you hearing the surf from your house! I love that sound - a close second to hard rain on the roof. It's a good idea to get her used to her portacot - I have bought it into our room and she will start with daytime naps tomorrow.
Megan, nice on the nap time - maybe you'll get more...
Nicky, Scrubs cracks me up everytime. I haven't tried alpha kerri - do you know the ingredients? I'm trying to stay away from petroleum bases and preservatives.
Em, don't you just love being put on hold and forced to listen to their advertising or bad music? Excellent way to spend your time. I always find myself swearing and talking at the recorded message each time ti comes on, and then wondering if anybody is actually listening and laughing at me LOL Maybe all the tests are wrong, btw...;) LOL feel better soon.
Oh, I just thought re: the meat. If you make up a soup with really small cubes of beef and let it slow cook, then freeze it in cubes you can add it to mashed veg and it makes the meat really soft and adds extra flavour to the veg.
Has anyone got any good ideas for snack foods that don't make a sloppy mess when you can only have fruit, veg or meat? Like for in the stroller or car? I'm really missing those vegemite sandwiches I can tell you.
Wishing a restful night for all of us
-
Sacha, cruskits make a great snack. I normally cut them into thirds, but they tend to be rather messy, especially with a scraping of vegemite, but they seem to love them.
Another good one, is bread sticks. Again I cut them into thirds and cut the crusts off. I then roll them, so I have 3 stick her slice. We eat Soy and Linseed bread and it works wonders, and not really all the messy. Both my kids loved them. I also give a arrowroot from time to time, but again messy.
-
Thanks Mel, but she can only have fruit, veg or meat - nothing else. That's what makes it so hard atm. Maybe I'll try celery - blrrrggghh!
-
Oh sorry Sacha missed that one:doh: What about carrot sticks or I even did up some vegetable fritters once and cut them into sticks. Sorry no other suggestions, big help I am
-
Thanks Sacha for that! Hmm... how do you poach meat?? Is it the same as with an egg??!! With the cauliflower and broccoli, do you steam them and give as finger food or chop them up? And what about the peas, zuccinni, spinach and squash?
Is anyone giving their babies rice or pasta?? I gave Avaleigh a try of my pasta tonight and she loved it!
So have you guys started giving snacks or finger foods? I am thinking of finger foods but afraid Avaleigh will choke cause of the lack of teeth..
-
Hey Veronica, Avaleigh should be fine with finger food. Charlize never got her first tooth until 4 days before her first birthday and she wouldn't eat food from about 7 months on unless she did it herself. We did have a few choking moments, but she always got it unstuck herself, but it did scare the willies out of me, but she managed fine.
Well Jack now weighs 10.45kg. And Charlize has also put on some more weight. So double yey!! Jack also had spagetti bolognaise for the first time tonight, and he loved it. I had the puree stick out ready to thin it out a little but he downed the mince easily so that is a relief.
I have another meeting with a possible new client tomorrow. I'm a little nervous but I'm slowly re-entering into the world again lol:redface: She seems really nice, so I'm looking forward to it.
BBL just about to run out of battery

Hi all
Been really busy lately - DH got home last nite so big YAY!! Who can believe it is eater this weekend! We have abirthday party to go to on the Satrday so we wont be venturing too far from home - plus DH goes away again next Tuesday so we want to make the most of having him at home.
Charlotte loves her finger food she doesnt have teeth either but still manages to make a real mess of what ever it is she is eating. With her food it seems that the lumpier the food is the better for her - we often have a few gags but she manages to keep going. Charlotte has had pasta as well and she loves it!
V - I wouldnt be too worried about the sleep issues (easier said than done) as I am sure it is just a phase (I know we are always talking about phases) and before you know it she will be back to sleeping like she was.
mel - yay on the weight gain of Charlize and jack! Love the professional photos of the kids - they are just beautiful.
Sacha - Oliver had/has quite bad exzema and we tried everything under the sun and the only thing that helped was a visit to a dermatologist who prescribed a cortisone cream that we put on as soon as we see a bit of a flare and it stops it in its tracks. We didnt want to go down the cortisone track but it is all that helped and the dermatologist is of the opinion that people have a bit of an unwarranted phobia (I was included in this) about cortisone cream and if it is waht helps the child get better then go for it. Thats just my 2 cents worth LOL! Poor little Autie - I know how horrible it can be for them - makes you sad doesnt it
The boys are in childcare today YAY so I am looking forward to a nice quiet day.
I go back to work in just under two weeks - only 5 days a fortnight and I cant wait! I am so excited to be going back and I am feeling really confident that this will give me a bit more balance than what I currently have!
Sorry for the lack of personals. Will drop back in later today and try and have a read over all these posts.
Take care

Hello hello!
Just quickly does anyone have any ideas on the best way to cook chicken mince for babies??
Oh and once its cooked can i freeze it?
-
Hi all :)
Maybe just cook in a little water?? I have never cooked mince for ethan but thats how i do his other meat.
Well i got my papsmear over with, has any of you had one since your bubba was born? was it painful?
TMI ALERT!!
I found that it really hurt, and it made me bleed during it and im still spotting now. When the internal part was done it was like the burning sensation of bubs crowning just not as bad lol it was the same lady that has done it for my last 2 also and it never hurt, maybe she was just rough! She said she was a little concerned about how much i bled, now im worried:redface:
Oh oops i just noticed the time im supposed to be going out in 15mins lol i got sidetracked!!
BBL for personals.
**ETA almost forgot too add I have updated ethans site with Our Professional Photo's....finally after nearly 4 months hehe!

Thanks Mel. Might give the fritters a go! Good luck with your client.
Veronica, like Mel said, Avaleigh should be fine with finger foods, just keep an eye on her and if she starts gagging, give her a few seconds to get it up herself before you panic. it's been my experience too that they are pretty good at handling things themselves. As for the food:
*Cauliflower, broccoli, peas and squash - I steam them in the microwave. Some I leave in pieces for her to chew on, the rest I mash up or puree.
*spinach - I have previously bought baby spinach and pureed it. But now I cheat and buy the bag of Heinz frozen spinach blocks - just the right size for adding in with cubes. Though I would probably give her baby spinach cooked whole now.
*zucchini - i grate it then steam it in microwave.
I poach meat in diluted good quality stock and water. Bring it the boil then simmer for about 20mins for whole chicken breasts or thighs. You can add vegies too and then they get nice and soft to serve as finger food.
I usually spoon feed her a bowl of whatever cubes first then give the finger food after so it doesn't matter if not much gets in.
Megan you could definitely freeze it. As for cooking, I would probably dry fry or use a little olive oil. How would you make it for youself?
