Hi everyone,

I am just on here for a bit of a whinge.... my poor little man is sick :( He is an absolute angel though and is still feeding and sleeping well but he has a cold and is all blocked up! Last night when he woke up for a feed I found that he has conjunctivitis in his right eye the poor little man. He can't win!! It's not fair, he is too little :(

Hope everyone else is doing well, sorry I dont get on here much but still settling in at home and trying to organise the house (everytime I clean it DH messes it up again!)

Breast milk in the eyes & also a squirt in the nostril can help clear up a blocked nose!!!

I know it sounds weird but breastmilk is truly amazing stuff!

Thanks ladies on the feedback about the expressing. Like danielle little one Xavier is still feeding and sleeping etc, but he is a real snot nose. Although I don't have to worry about trying to get breast milk up his nose, he does this all by himself, lol. Problem is he gets so tired after feeding one side, he won't do the other side and then will only sleep for 2 hours. It's taking all my energy to cope with the frequency. I've been trying to change him to wake him up half way through to finish the feed, yet my efforts are being thwarted by Nathans well meaning help. He changes him before he wakes me up to feed.

Danielle, the Dom nurse told me to keep an eye on the colour of his snot, his temp, and that he was still pooing and weeing enough, and if any of that changed to go see a doc. She also suggested to help him sleep to put a litle vics or eukey oil on a cloth, put it on his bed, and then cover it with a nappy or a wrap or something (so it didn't touch his skin, and that the vapors would help him sleep too.

Well anyway it's a happy 1 week old to us here. and I have lost 8kg's. I'm halfway back to my pre preggo weight, and it's not like I've had the healtyest diet, more than happy to keep eating a few cakes and other baked goods still.

I tell you all though this whole business with centrelink and medicare etc is a right pain in the you know what.

I'll vouch for the breast milk for conjunctivitis. It cleared up Kaetlyns and she was starting to get it in the other eye, so i gave it a squirt as well and alas, its all gone today. Poor little thing looks so cute with milk she dribbles and then I go and squirt her in the eyes! :clap: Milk everywhere!

I had a bad night last night. I had really bad stomach cramps last night. so bad that I couldnt feed Kaetlyn. We ended up at the hospital, but after 2 hours and only my obs being taken, the pain slowly went away, so we left (more for Kaetlyn as we didnt want her around sick people and children). It seems to me to be No 2 toilet pains, they were so bad I jumped into bed and curled up (like when I was in labour). Aaron was really worried. I think it is pain from not enough fibre and being a bit dehydrated, so today I will eat heaps of fibre and drink more water, and see how I go. The apin is still there, but no where near what it was last night. Aaron is going to find us a GP to go to in the area, as we dont have a regular one.

Well my preciousness has awoken for a feed, so best be feeding her, before the crys start!!!

Ohh just one silly question, how do you know when they have completly emptied one boob from milk?

Heres a tip - you don't need to go to centrelink if you have internet access. Just jump on the family assistance website, fill in the forms there, and then take your baby bonus form into medicare and they will do the rest for you. I haven't set foot in Centrelink and have received my money.

Phew - just got rid of 10 three year olds from our house as it was Olivers 3rd birthday party today!!! It went really well but I am exhausted. I will BBL to say hello again - I have to deal with the clean up now - yuck.

Kingfubecca - I hear you about centrelink. It took me 2 days but I have finally lodged the form. My issue seemed to be that I have never in my life received any form of payment from centrelink so I then had to fill in a partner form as well, but in doing that I was providing info I new was irrelevant given we are not entitled to family tax benefit b. Anyway form is lodged so hopefully we receive the baby bonus soon.

We had a good night last night, Georgie is waking up every 3 to 3.5 hours for a feed but during the day she is not sleeping. She starts out happy enough to lay in her basinette but after a while she gets unsettled. Not really sure what to do.

I breast fed for the 1st time outside the house today. DH and I were at the local shopping centre when Georgie became really unsettled so found the family room and fed her. The family room was really quite nice and the other parents in the room were lovely, asking how old Georgie was and basic info. It was a good experience for the 1st time. Mind you in was in the parents room so it was not for everyone to see.

Hope you're all going well.
Had a minor hiccup in Lachs nearly perfect routine last night, and daddy had to get up at 330am to try and settle the little tacker so mummy could get some sleep. It must have worked, as I didnt hear him again till 730. lol

ALl is giong great here. I am still loving breast feeding, even at obscure hours of the night/morning. I am coping really well with the broken sleep, but I have had practice in that area before. I used to have to get up for work at 4am, and could never get to sleep before midnight.
Oh and Adam and I feel like nan and pop as we have been getting to bed usually before 9pm. hehe

Yes I agree with everyone else with the crappy centrelink forms. I spent an hour on the phone to a bloke, before I could even fill it out. It's been sent, so glad that is off my hands.
I wonder how long it takes for it all to go through? I am sure being a gov agency, it will probably take 3 years!! lmao
And I am hanging out for these birth certificates too! We ordered one of the special ones.

I am also expecting some portraits of Lach any day now. We had them done at hossy. Mum has also arranged for us to have another sitting when Lach reaches one month... Lucky he's a poser. lol

Getting tax done tonight and taking Lach with us. He usually behaves himself when we're out, so I am hoping he sleeps until we are finished. I am not sure how we will go BFing in the middle of the accountants office! lol

Well, thats it from me. My angel is sleeping so while that is happening I'm going to catch up on all my net dealings.

Nicky - our payment came in no time at all so it shouldn't be too long before before you receive your bonus! The birth certificate didnt take long either - although you will probably receive the normal one first and then the commemorative one separately.

I have a huge headache - thinking I'm just stressing over Chris 30th party tomorrow night, in which Chris wasnt going to be coming home early tonight from work and we have done nothing - no food, no drinks (other than the slurpee machine which I organised!!) but I obviously made him feel bad cause he has just rang to say he's picked up the food and he's at the liquour shop picking up the alcohol and will be home shortly. Maddison is a little unsettled atm, but hopefully popping her dummy in will do the trick - mind you, I know picking her up will be an instant quieter but I know thats a huge trap.

Gotta go find something for my head = gee I'm being a real downer atm - sorry!

Yes, Centrelink is a pain. I had to ring them and was on the phone for over half an hour before I was even allowed to fill in the form! And then it turned out that half of that time they were talking about some type of benefit that I wasn't even applying for because I knew I wouldn't be eligible :wall:. Most annoying. But once I had actually done the forms and handed them in the payment came in within about two weeks. So that was really good.

Nicky - we ordered a special birth certificate for Diana too. They told me it would take two weeks to arrive, but it only took about a week. I received both the commemorative one and the standard one at the same time in the same package.

Jemima - my hat off to you for hosting a toddler birthday party. I am finding one newborn enough of a handful!

Tracey - thanks for the info re flying with a baby. I thought that if you put the baby on the breast they should be okay but its good to get confirmation of this from someone with first hand experience. Thanks. :)

Kristy - why is picking Maddy up a trap? I have a sling and a baby bjorn carrier and put Diana in either one when she is unsettled. It's really comfortable for both of us and I can go about my daily business without worrying about what she is doing. Last night I was dancing around the kitchen cooking with Diana in the carrier. After a while I looked down and she had fallen asleep.

Danielle - hope you and your bub are feeling better. I agree with the breastmilk as a cure for all idea. And I hear you about cleaning the house only to have DH mess it up again! :rolleyes: Grr. I hope you make him clean up after himself. :)

I had an insane day today. Didn't get much sleep last night. Diana was settled, but Stan was sick (if its not one, its the other...). I finally fell asleep in the early hours of the morning only to wake up at 9:00am (I was supposed to be at work at 8:30!). I quickly rushed around and made it in to work just before 10. Because of this I stayed back later in the afternoon, so everything I had planned for today has been thrown out by an hour or so. I was going to go to the bank to set up a savings account for Diana, but didn't make it. I'm now going to have to find a branch that's open on Saturday so that I can go tomorrow.

well the hosue is back to some type of normality after Olivers party. Phew - hard work LOL but worth it!!

All is good here. Charlotte has thrush in her mouth and I am struggling to clear it up. I am using Nilstat (sp) drops at the moment so fingers crossed it clears up soon. Does anyone know how babies get thrush in their mouth - weird thing is I dont seem to have it on my nipples.

Zofia - sounds like you have been having a very busy time (you are amazing tobe back at work already!) - I hope you can have a relaxing weekend and catch up on some sleep.

Kristy - hope you are feeling better and that Chris' party goes well. Parties are great fun to have but stressful to get organised!!

Nicky - I hope Lachlan behaved himself at the accoutnants and you have now got a great tax return coming your way!!

Sara - I hope you are feeling better - you poor thing feeling so horrible.

Tracey - ditto on how amazing the healing properties of breast milk is. Amazing stuff.

Rebecca - woohoo on losing 8 kg already - but I hear you on still enjoying a few treats every now and then - actually in my case the treats are far too often!!

We dont have much planned for the weekend (thank goodness) so hopefully we can all have a lovely relaxing time not doing much at all - although that is rarely possible with two little boys to chase around. I have added some new photos to the kids website thingy for anyone who is interested. Dont look too closely at the one of the cake I made for OliverLOL!!

Ok I am going to go and sit on the couch and eat some chocolate - left overs from the party are a killer. My theory is to try and eat all the chocolate and lollies asap so it doesnt sit in the house for too long and tempt me LOL!!

YEY! Oscars eye is looking better already!! We called the Drs because his eye was swollen and he gave us a script for eye drops. I tried the milk in his eye too.... something is working though!!

He is such a good little man even though he is sick, he has only been unsettled for about 20 mins all up today. My episiotomy is feeling much better but I feel like a stitch is pulling *ouch*!

I am yet to send off my Centrelink stuff... will get onto that next week when DH has gone back to work (it will give me something to do! :) )

I did have something else I wanted to post but I can't remember :(

I feel like I am getting into the swing of things now and am able to get on here more frequently so hopefully can catch up with you all properly soon! YEY!

Ed: I have lost all my baby weight!! Last Friday I was weighing half a kg under what I was before I fell pg!! I weighed myself 5 times all in different places around the house because I thought the scales must be wrong!!

Well, Jordan has settled into our family nicely. He is feeding and sleeping well. (I co-sleep, so I am gettting adequate sleep ... thank goodness! I am a zombie without sleep!)

The kids adore their new baby brother - they have adapted to the change really well.

I forgot how hard it is to shop with a newborn baby. How time consuming is getting ready to head out of the house! I keep reminding myself that it will be better in a few months.

Where to start where to start,

Sara, you poor thing. Apparently pears are a really good source of fibre and they have lots of water in them as well. I have found that I need to drink more water now too. I have been trying to drink more water than what I think Xavier is drinking in milk, 'cause I figure feeding is using up more water than usual.

Kylie, We did do the centrelink stuff on the internet and at medicare. It was still a big chore. We also had to get us on the same medicare card, and add xavier on, apply for rent assistance (any one who rents take advantage of this it's great).

Jemima You are a trooper. I bow down to the. On the treats, I figure for the next week or so my body is craving food for a reason, so i'm just going to succumbe

Bridee, we had our first feed in public too yesterday, only mine was at hungry jacks. We were lucky it was really quite, and there was no one else there.

Nicki, We did our tax yesterday too, Yay we get refunds both of us, and I tell you we need them. Xavier was a good boy while we did it too. Especially good, as we had een out and about for a while, although he loves the pram and the car. goes strait to sleep. It's so cute, he holds onto the straps in his car seat.

Kristy, I hope your headache goes away. Happy birthday Chris!! I hope you have a good night. Great to hear the certificates and $$ don't take too long to arrive. I'm relying on some to come through to make the mortgage repayments

Ok, My question for today, This may be way TMI, but I noticed this morning that my tummy is really hairy still. Does this go away, please let me know. I don't want a hairy tummy.

I hear you Bec about the hairy tummy! I am sooo grossed out by mine!!

I'm not sure if it goes away... I only heard that through pg that your stomach can get hairy.. I never thought about losing the hair though! I def am now though! :)

I cant believe that Avaleigh is only a few days off being 3 wks old! She is doing good, still has colic and probably will until she is 3 months old. But we are dealing with it! I do get some ripper burps from her but she is still unsettled and not really sleeping during the day. She does love sleeping under her playgym tho! She is feeding more regularily these days - sometimes every 2 hours, I just give her what she wants :) We've been doing a bit of co-sleeping the past 2 nights, not all night, just from 5am until her next feed.

We've decided not to try and claim any money from centrelink cause Jason cant predict how much he will earn in a year and he doesnt want to pay money back. Do you need to go in to Medicare?? I did mine on the internet and then sent the forms through to whatever was on the envelope. I hope I have done it right!! im worried now that I havent done it right..... I guess we will wait and see!

Anyways, better get a move on....

I havent received any payment from C'link yet either, but got the new Medicare cards with all our names on it... Got the Birth certifivate within 10 days...
Apparently C'link have to pay baby bonus within 3wks of getting forms..???

I think the hairy belly will go, I never had one, but I know the dark line which I only got with Indah went away after a while, I just noticed 1 day it was gone...

I dont clock watch when feeding, I just demand feed, but after giving Zyon some Infants friend before his night feeds he settles easier!!! But still feeds every 3-4hours, I cant believe he's changed so much!!!!

Hi ladies - it has taken me a long time to post (some serious sleep issues in our household) but i have finally done it. I posted in the August belly buddies so I don't know if I know anyone on here or not. Hi to all.
Piper arrived on the 30th of July at 1:09pm. It was a very emotional time for me and she ended up in special care but we are finally home and enjoying our new little family.

I will check up with what everyone has posted later but congratulations to those who have lost their pregnancy weight - i have so much to go but am so hungry with breastfeeding and know it will go in 9 or so months.
Also - i have noticed the hairy belly - which I didn't have last time?

Anyway - looking forward in sharing the journey with you lovely ladies!

Well I am buggered today.
Last night Kaetlyn wouldnt settle, and we were still up with her at 3am so aaron and I went for a drive, with her and she finally went to sleep and stayed asleep. we ended up driving to the nearest 24 hour maccas and had breakky at 4am. Hence, she has slept all day today catching up on the 12 hours that she was awake yesterday.
By the time we got home and put her to bed it was 4.30 and due for a feed. I let her sleep and she didnt wake until 9am (with my help as my BB were full and leaking) and fed her then.
I wonder what tonight will bring!!

I hear you one the hariy belly!!! I have more of a snail trail than Aaron!!! I really hope it does go. It wasnt until I had given birth that I realised just how hairier I had gotten!!!

We sent our centrelink forms weeka nd a half ago and havnt recieved anything back yet. Medicare was different, we got new medicare cards within one week, which was awesome, as i used it that night! Birth certificates still havent arrived as yet.

I think I read somewhere that the hairy tummy thing goes away within the first few months after giving birth. And also that the hair on your head thins for a while at this time too... Don't know how true this is though.

Sorry to jump in on your chat, the hairy belly only goes away for some. I am now used to waxing after waiting 9 years for it to go away. It is so disgusting. The price we pay for motherhood. Congratulations to you all you sound like motherhood is working well for all. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP for me soon. Once again sorry for jumping in.

just a quicky - any ideas on how I can wake Charlotte enough for her to feed well last thing at night???

I usually feed her at about 9.30pm but the last few days she just wont wake enough to feed for longer than 5 - 10 minutes. I have tried changing her nappy in between swapping sides, giving her the Nilstat (which she doesnt like), blowing on her face (sounds mean I know LOL), undressing her and using a wet flannel on her face (again this sounds mean I know but I was getting desperate)!! Last night she only fed for 5 minutes. Any suggestions how I can wake her enough to get her to feed longer - how do you wake your babes in order to get them to feed last thing at night.

My boy is almost always wanting to feed so sorry I cant help you... Last night we were up almost every 2-2.5 hours!!!
He feeds & snorts like a piglet, I am calling him my piglet now coz he has a number of chins!!!
Bugger sleeps well from 8am til about midday & after that it's back to feeding non stop!

Maybe a growth spurt...

Could you maybe bath her at 9:30pm??? No idea really!

10longyears- I think I will have the same problem as you re: the hair- I was quite hairy before pg, it dosnt look like it is going away any time soon. I will just wait.... Ahh the price to pay for mother hood!!

Jemima- I had the same problem with Kaetlyn when we were in hospital, Midwife said to me that if they were hungry they would wake up enough to feed. I kept persisting and ended up leaving her longer to sleep then trying again later. What time do you usually feed her beofre 9.30- she might just still be full from her previous meal.

Zofia- I know how you feel. The first week home no one visited us:cry: and we were really upset, and thought we had somehow offended everybody. Turned out they were being really considerate and were letting us settle in at home.

Well am off to try and tidy the house a bit. Have family dinner at our house this week :( so all the Inlaws are coming over. Aaron is cooking so that is a load of my mind.

Well I successfully spent a whole day shopping with Jordan on saturday.
I finally found the perfect white leather lounges from plush . They lady gave me a great deal and added a 5 year protection warranty which will allow us cleaning if the kids draw on/damage them. The only down side is that I have to wait 12 to 14 weeks before they arrive! So I am back to 'waiting' ... lol.

blueflower, re: the mothers group, what state are you in?

Veronica - My babies tend to have a bit of wind too - co-sleeping is the only way I get through the first 12 weeks!

Better go and hang some laundry before it gets to cold and dark. I didn't get a change to do it earlier today.

The hairy tummy, I noticed mine getting hairy during pregnancy, but it didnt bother me as much then, I think it looked sparse because I was stretched out. But now the little hairs are closer together, I'm not happy. I hate the hair more than I hate my stretchies. I hope the hair goes away for me. Certainly will wait until after I'm finished having kids before I try any removal. Otherwise it might be in vein.

Veronica, sounds like your starting to get some routine in. I have to admit, i've done some co-sleeping too, which I swore I wouldn't do. But he sleeps so much better, I think his room might be too cold. I have increased the blankets, but it doesn't seem to help. I had the heater on most of last night, and he was better. I think I'll get out the panel heater and have it just in his room.
You don't have to go into Medicare, I just wanted them to give me my new number then and there so we could start using it.

Tracey, I;m with you on the no point in dieting. I'm attempting to eat healthy food, but not holding back on portion sizes. I am just so hungry. I'm having more cravings than during pregnancy.
Hey does anyone know, if for any reason we don't eat enough, will that impact on the quality of the breast milk, maybe then effecting how well bubs feeds and settles etc.

Sara you poor thing. Hallelugha for 24hrs maccas. I'll just count my lucky stars that all boys big and small become content when you flash a bit of boobie. :lol:
Mums groups are quite often established with your mat and child health nurse. Well they are here.

Jemima, It would be really nice if Xavier would have a late feed and then go for a long sleep, but alas it sounds like he is a kindred spirit for Zyon, right down to the snorting and always being hungry!!

Dee, yay for your successfull shopping trip. It will be a few weeks before I have to takle this alone, although Xav likes his pram so much I don't think it will be too hard. Its nice to hear that someone so experienced does the co-sleeping too. Do you do anything special, I'm scared I'm going to squish him.

hey everyone.

I am currently holding my baby but can type with two hands!! YAY :) I am currently wearing Avaleigh in her hug a bub and she LOVES being so close to me and I love knowing that I can comfort her enough that she settles.

We had a good day today, the weather was beautiful so I went out for a walk with a friend along the coast, it was so nice and Avaleigh slept most of the way. I then came home and had some more visiters. Now I am going to get dinner ready and finish my lamingtons (Yes Danielle! I've finally made those lamingtons I was always talking about).

Dee - How did you find your baby was after co-sleeping for the first 12 weeks?? Hmm I havent really worded that right but whenever I tell people like my mum that I am always holding Avaleigh and that I am co-sleeping with her they tell me not too because she will just get used to it and thats all she will want. Did you find that that happened?? I have got no prob with holding/co-sleeping with my baby because I find that it settles her, I hate seeing her grunt and grizzle all the time

Veronica - I hear you on the HAB. I am currently typing with both hands with Diana in her Baby Bjorn carrier. Isn't it great! :) Re co-sleeing and picking up your baby - I always planned to co-sleep with Diana, I carry her around as much as I am able to and I always aim to pick her up whenever she starts crying. I have been told that it is not true that she will get used to this and want it all the time. In fact, apparently the opposite is true and by picking her up and making her feel secure now, she will become more confident when she older (if that makes any sense).

Tracey - I love your new photos. Where did you get the Super Baby top from? Zyon looks so cute in it.

Jemima - Diana is like the boys and seems to always wake up for a feed, so can't help re waking Charlotte up. Maybe try waking her later. If she has a big feed before 9:30, she may still be full.

I am feeling so tired this weekend. I went for a long walk with Diana yesterday and a shorter one today and am feeling completely buggered. And I still need to wash her, wash the dishes and get everything ready for work tomorrow before I can go to bed tonight...

Veronica, I haven't mentioned to my mum that Xave has sleept with us for the same reason I will be told that he will get used to it and expect it. I guess it could depend on the baby though. I know of a few people that still can't get their kids to stop sleeping with them.
I am conscious that this could happen, so I know I will need to stop soon, but I think 6-12 week mark sounds reasonable. Thats why I'm really interested to hear Dee's experiences re this, with her experience.

Zofia, you sound like your pushing yourself really hard. I wish I could tell you to skip the dishes, but I'm starting to work out that if I put things off they just get worse, and I'm sure you dont want to do that.

I tried my Hug a bub earlier. I think I need some more practice though. He didn't seem overly impressed.

Tonight is my first night alone (with the the girls) as my DH has gone back to work - so instead of going back to bed I am on the computer - i'll pay for it tomorrow.
Piper had the hiccups tonight for ages so she was a little more unsettled than usual and didn't go down for her first sleep of the night until 8:30 - hopefully we shall have a good night

Dee and Rebecca- I am in NSW, and am still awaiting for the community child nurse thingy to come to our house. They called last week and said they were backed logged, so hopefull she will come this week and I will be able to ask her then.

Rebecca and Veronica- We hold Kaetlyn until she is asleep and then we put her in the cot. for some unknown reason she has a lot of trouble going to sleep by herself. she is okay when she gets to sleep though. Baby love suggests that you stop co-sleeping beofre 3 months unless you want to be doing it forever, so it will be interesting to see what Dee says, seen as she is a wealth of expereience , and we are all newbies at this!!

Back on the hair issue, mine isnt little ones, I have a full on snail trail- worse than aarons. I am happy with my stretch marks- I consider them my 'war wounds' and are something to be proud of!!! It is really weird, I have a new found respect for my body. I might have saggy boobs now, stretch marks on my hips and lower tummy (they only appeared in the last week!!) and seem to be floppy in different places, but my thoughts are...I hvae brought this gorgeous human being into this world, so I need something to show for it!!! Besides- I not only feel like a mother now, I look like one too!!!!!

Now in saying that, I am planing on going for our first walk tomorrow if the weather is right. I used to walk and run all the time, but since falling pregnant and Mum passing away, I had no energy or motivation to go. It will b nice to get out in the fresh air and sun for a bit. I am panning on walking everyday when aaron goes back to work... Will see how it pans out though... things never turn out the way you want them.

Well I am off to bed to catch some more zzzz's until the next feed, whenever that may be....

I am also not too fussed about getting my boobies out in front of everyone and anyone, but thats a story for another day! hehe

well, Lach is soooo fantastic during the days, but at nights, we are sometimes finding it hard to settle him. Poor Adam wont get much sleep tonight.

I have issues with my right breast. I seem to have too much milk in it. I am expressing for 2-3 mins... and I seem to get over 100 mls in that time. Just trying to get the first influx of milk out, as it seems that poor Lach chokes a little when he attaches as my milk is coming out too quickly. Hopefully this will rectify itself soon. I have no idea how long I should be expressing for. I am trying to feed tandem boobies..... start on one boob, change nappy, then finish on the other boob (dessert). Then I start on the boob I last finished on. The milk issue in my right brest must be worse at night.
Hopefully he settles a little better than he has been the last few nights, but I have a feeling I am going to have a stressful night ahead:(

I can't say I exactly know what co sleeping involves ( yes I am uneducated!! lol), but I havent tried anything like that. I always feed in the same chair as it is much more comfy. I have quite large boobies, so I have to have Lach in the football hold to feed him well. I find it too uncomfy the regular way. I will attempt to feed the regular hold this week a few times and try to get used to it.

Well, enough from me.
I'll pop back when I next go insane... I'm guessing that will be in 2 hours!!!

The Superbaby singlet I bought from Kmart... The day I found out he was a boy...
We have co slept with Zyon the last few nights too, as his wind prob wakes him up...
We lay him in between us but up higher so he cant be covered by our doona & slightly propped up on my tri pillow so we cant roll on him either! As I am super paranoid!!!
He slept from 9pm til 2:30am & fed & is just starting to wake now, so 2 x 5ish hours!!!
I feel brand new today & luckiy as it's a busy one!

The MCHN will give you info on Mothers Groups, well they should but I believe the council will also have a number to contact the Mothers Group president or something so call your local council if the Health nurse isnt coming!!!

Dont have hairy tummy or stretch marks here, but the saggy boobs (hell yeah)_ but I dont care, I'd be happy to have all of the above & my 3 kiddies so it's not an issue!!!

Um Nicky, I'd suggest maybe not actually expressing from right breast & when feeding from left letting right drip into a towel or something as the expressing is telling your right nreast to make that extra 100mls each time!! IYKWIM??

Wow, feels like I haven't been here for ages!

Congratulations to Fran & David on the arrival of Alessia - so glad she's finally here, and love her name. Hope you're all doing well, and looking forward to hearing all the details.

I don't appear to have a particularly hairy stomach, although I do have weird random hairs around the place, (one of which, most disturbingly, was on my bosom - it's gone now..), and I seemed to escape the whole stretch mark thing (which a very kind friend suggested was because older people have less elastin in their skin, so less likely to show stretch marks. Not sure if I like this explanation or not LOL), but I have had major problems with constipation. As in excruciating, bend over double & yell in pain kind of pains. Have ended up taking coloxyl again, cos all the natural remedies just weren't working for me. The coloxyl hasn't entirely re-regulated me, but at least has relieved the worst of the pains. I completely sympathise with any baby that has wind pain...

Nicky – I’ve also had issues with my right breast being an over producer, and the left side being a bit slower to produce. The lactation consultant I saw suggested spending a day starting on the left side 2 times out of 3, to encourage the left to even up a bit more & to discourage the right from producing so much. I still used both sides per feed but the pattern was Feed 1 - Left Side, Right Side,: Feed 2 - Left ,Right: Feed 3 - Right , Left:, then back to Left, Right for Feed 4 etc. I found that it made a big difference, as now both sides leak…LOL. Seriously, it has calmed the right side’s enthusiasm for milk production, which is good. She said to do this for a day, then go back to the normal rotation pattern for the next day, then use it again on the following day if you needed to, and so on.

Rebecca & V – I’ve heard that for the first 12 weeks or so you really can’t spoil them by settling them any way that works, including co-sleeping. The paediatrician we had said to do whatever works for us for the 1st 3 months, and he also said that if we did end up with any “bad” habits that we wanted to fix, he could resolve them all in around 3-5 days as long as we followed his instructions (we loved the paed, he was awesome, wish I could have him as my doctor!). And I also have read that comforting them when they need comforting in these first few months leads to more secure & independent children subsequently, so I second whoever wrote that above too. We try not to let Liam cry for any length of time, cos he’s just too little (and cute) to be taught lessons in patience. Mind you, I think I have a really settled baby so far, he yells for food, but as long as I get that organised quick smart he’s pretty content.

I was hoping to start walking today, but it’s too cold I think, and also the pram is still in the back of my car & I’m not supposed to lift anything heavier than Liam, so I guess I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow. Can’t wait for more spring-like weather to arrive, am really looking forward to getting out of the house a bit more than I have for the last 3
weeks. The whole not driving, not lifting thing after a c/s is a real pain in the neck. Although not hanging washing out on the line isn’t such a disadvantage :D

Anyway, I’m pushing my luck now by being on here for so long & not getting things like showers done whilst I have the opportunity, so I’d better head off & get myself organised for the day. Will BBL to catch up some more.

Jan - Happy 3weeks today!! I cant believe how quickly three weeks have gone. Before we know it, our bubs will be in school!

Yeh I also thought that comforting bub all the time in the first three months wouldnt be a bad thing. I am happy to do it because it means that Avaleigh is nice and calm. I spent another night on the couch with Avaleigh, I wasnt meant to, I was only meant to watch TV until Avaleigh was fast asleep and then wanted to put her in her bassinette, but I ended up falling asleep too!! She ended up feeding ever 3 hrs last night. I wonder if that was just because she could smell me or she always woke every 3 hrs??

I'm having issues with my nipples at the moment!! Avaleigh is really rough on them sometimes and instead of coming off them nicely, she actually bites down real hard and twists off them. OUCH! Not to nicest. I am also finding that Avaleigh is real fiddgetty while feeding, is anyone else bub like this? I was think it could be from the colic.

Well I was hoping to wash my hair before the next feed but I have spent too much time having breakfast and doing the washing. Guess it will need to wait!

hmmm I think Avaleigh is getting conjuctivitus (sp) in one of her eyes. To those mum's who's baby have this/had this - how did it start out and what did it look like? Avaleigh has just a little bit of build up in the corner of one eye so I guess that it is conjuctivitus. I've wiped it away twice now in the past hour.... Did you go to the docs for it or just do the breast milk thing?!! I might try that next feed..

Lachs such a good boy during the day... its weird that its never till 3or4 that he has trouble... and it only lasts tilll about 8am.,.. he sleeps on and off during this time, but not for very long.

Hes sleeping at the min, and I've been told by adam that I am not to do any housework at all today... just to relax....
I will do the dishes cos they are giving me evils everytime I walk past them...
lol
