V- the gunk started out in the corner and when she woke it was all over the eye.
What i was told to do was wipe it with a cotton ball dipped in cooled boiled water, from the inside to the outside of the eye, throw it away and repeat with a new ball etc until clean. (thats what i do to the belly button as well.) then when i feed her, do some fancy attempts at squirting her in the eye!!
Good Luck!! oh and dont touch her other eye unless you hsave washed ur hands

Hi again,
I'm taunting the "feed fairy" by getting on here again. There's lots of snuffles and snorts coming from Liam's room, so I suspect we'll be back in the feeding chair sooner rather than later, so I'll be quick.
V & Sara - are you dealing with conjunctivitis or maybe just "sticky eye"? I think the Baby Love book says that at our bub's age, it's more likely to be sticky eye, rather than conjuctivitis, which is highly contagious, but more apparent in children 6 months or more, especially when they have contact with other older children. Liam has a sticky eye, and the treatment I've been told to give him is exactly as Sara has described. It's caused by a blocked tear duct in the eye I think, which can last for up to 6 months (eek, mucky eyes for 6 months!), but in most cases will spontaneously resolve. I've been shown a couple of ways to massage the tear duct (by the lactation consultant & the MCHN), but the books are a little ambivalent as to whether or not this actually works, and as Liam's eye isn't too bad I'm not really fussed about the massage thing.
And yep - the food call has begun, so I must stop indulging myself & start indulging someone else. BBL (I hope!)
-
Sara - thanks for the tip on how to clean it!! Avaleigh has been asleep for a while and we have just gotten back from the shops and she kinda opened her eye and its all yucky. Poor lil thing!
Jan - It could very well be sticky eye - do you know the difference?? eww, I hope it doesnt last up to 6 months!!
Hmm I wonder if I can get lunch in to me before Avaleigh fully awake for a feed...
-
Sebastian has had a sticky eye since birth - the paed told me that same thing as Jan. Conjunctivitis is a bit different, and you'll find that Avaleigh's eyelids will be red and a bit swollen, as conjunctivitis is refers to inflammation. Sara's tip about how to clean the eye is exactly what the paed told me too.
Seb's gets better for a few days, and then comes back. But he doesn't seem too bothered by it.
Phew! It's hard to type with a sleeping baby in the sling! But on the other hand, his colic is settling down a little bit (have just jinxed myself I'm sure!). He hadn't pooed for 6 days, and then did the BIGGEST POO I HAVE EVER SEEN last night. Seriously, he pooed for nearly half an hour! But he's a different baby today, lots and lots of smiles. I will update his website with a picture of him smiling, I just LOVE IT!!
I have decided that with the baby bonus we are putting it into shares for Seb, but I am buying a good digital SLR with some of the money so we can have beautiful photos of him!! DOes anyone have any recommendations of a good camera?

Hi all, look at my gorgeous boy, I finally got a pic on.
Nicki, the midwives told me to do the desert thing too, but Xave isn't overly interested in that. He much prefers to drain one boob, and then go to sleep after that. If he is still demanding food, yet isn't interested in the boob he ate from, I switch to the other, but otherwise I just let him empty them and alternate each feed, and the engorgement feeling has greatly reduced, because I feel like I'm actully finishing them.
I know it's working for xave as well 'cause the little bugger has gained another 220gm in 6 days and has grown 1.5cm too the mat and child health nurse told me all they aim for is that he is back at birth weight by 2 weeks old, he's only 10 days
Sara, I hope the nurse gets to you soon. if they don't get in contact with them. Maybe there is another nurse other than the one allocated to you that you can see. My mum is head of childrens services here, so the nurses report to her, and she said that here you don't have to go to the centre your allocated to. There should also be some sort of open session that you can just show up to if need be as well.
Co-Sleeping: We didn't need to do this last night. I am now convinced our house is just too cold for xavier as last night we turned off the main heater (for us) and we gave him his own heater. It was lovley and toasty in his room last night when we did have to get up, but he slept much better. I just have to make sure we monitor the heat so that it doesn't get too hot, 'cause of sids. It was soo nice in his room that I wish I had a chair in there so i could have fed him in there. Might consider it once the $$ start comming through.
Well arvo tea time I think. Need to chase the KFC i had for a lunch with something a little better for us.
-
Bec, he is a stunning little man!!!
We can take her to get weighed etc at the local school when the nurse is there, but am waiting for the first appointment at home, where they come and go through heaps of stuff. I think that it is cause we went through the private system that we have to wait a bit longer ( I think that someone from the hospital comes if you go through the public system here- not to sure though).
Re: Sticky Eye- I am pretty sure that it is sticky eye Kaetlyn has, but am keeping an eye on it- she got it again today. I feel so sorry for her, even though I know it isn't worrying her, so dosnt rub her eye or anything.
A friends son had it for 1year, then one day cleared up. Hopefully it dosn't last that long :(
I will speak to nurse when she comes about massaging it.
Well Aaron and I went for our walk today. We went to the local shops, and got milk and the paper. While we were out we had lunch at a new cafe that has opened up, and LOL we had hamburgers and hot chips for lunch!!! So much for trying to be healthy... ahhh well must start somewhere. I laughed on the way back, and said to aaron, thats the furtherest I have walked in the last couple of months. The shops were only about a 5-10minute walk away. I was buggered qwhen I got back though!!
Well Aussie Idol is about to start, so had better go and settle in the lounge room. My SIL is here tonight she is playing with Kaetlyn at the moment- Aaron has gone to the football (I told him he had to go to get out of the house and have some time out with his friends).
Ohh and we had a great night last night- she woke up for her feeds and went straight back to sleep afterwoods. Fingers crossed she does the same thing tonight.
-
Rebecca, was it you that was asking about calorie intake while BF'ing? I keep remebering to reply, but cant remember that who it was or what the quewstion was about!!
-
Hmm well I am not sure if Avaleigh has sticky eye or conjuctivitus... Her eyelid is a little red and a little swollen. I guess I will just keep an eye on it and if it gets real bad by Wednesday I will go and see the health nurse as wednesday you can go in with no appointments.
Until then, I will try and keep it clean. The poor lil darling! It looks so yucky :(
-
Hey all,
Sorry for being MIA lately. In between open houses, inspections, cleaning, 50th's, DH uni and work I haven't had much time to stratch myself lately. So I just thought I'd pop in, so you don't think I'd forgotten about you all.
Veronica, I hope Avaleigh's eye improves soon. Has the Breast milk had any affect on it yet?
Sara and Jan, I hope your bubbas eyes have started to improve too. What is it with Sticky eye ATM everyone seems to have it. How do they get it anyone know, is it just a blocked tear duck that gets infected? And Jan, I hear you on the walking front, I wanted to start at the gym again by now, but still haven't got there:rolleyes: Can't wait until I can start though, I always feel better after doing some cardio and weights.
Kylie, LOL at Sebastian's poo the other day, boy he must have felt better though afterwards.
Jem, how is Charlotte going before bed now? Has you been able to wake her enough for a feed?
Relle, haven't heard from you in awhile, has your client had her bub yet?
Nicky, isn't it funny how one boob will naturally fill up more than the other. My right one is the same too, wierd I think!
Tracey, when are you going to Bali? We might be going over just before Christmas as DH might have to work either there or Japan. If it's Bali I will go with him, but if it's Japan not a chance. To bloody cold for me.
Renee, how did Piper go last night?
Zofia, where do you get your energy from, can you throw some my way. I have been stuffed lately.
Flossie, how are your nipples going?
Linny, how are the boys going? Have the results of Joel's blood tests come back yet?
Hi to anyone I have missed and sorry.
Well we have been really well. Jack in now 6 weeks old and has been sleeping through until 4:30 most mornings. He is such a good little boy. Giving me plenty of smiles to get me through each day too. Charlize is well. She has had some poo issues lately. She got me beauty last night. She had been stuffed up for a few days, really hard stools, poor little thing. So last night before her bath I inserted a Glycerin suppository. Well it definately worked is all I can say. I have never in my life seen so much poo come out of such a little girl, and in the bath mind you:doh: Was so yucky, but I'm sure she must have felt so releaved. She was so cute afterwards, she just stool there with the biggest look of disguest on her face, and as soon as I said "you want to hope out" she threw her arms up and nodded her head. She normally shakes it and sits back down, but last night there was nothing keeping her in that bath:lol:
Anyway I'm off, got another big day tomorrow. Take care all.
-
Hi everyone!!! We finally made it!!! Yay! Just got home earlier today and this is the first chance I've had a chance to breathe! Alessia has been feeding ALL day and my bb's are on fire!
There is so much to catch up on...but I'll give you all the quick stats:
Name: Alessia Georgia
DOB: 09/08/07 (41 weeks and 3 days gestation)
Baby #: 1
Time: 3:40AM
Weight: 4.020kg (8 lb 14 ozs)
Length: 51 cm
HC: 35 cm
Labour: 28 hours labour (9 1/2 active). VD with a shot of pethadeine.
When I have a chance I'll write up my birth story, but to be brief, I laboured at home until about 9:30PM when David drove us to hospital. Ob came to see me and I was 9cm dilated by about 3:00AM...he broke my waters and Alessia was born 40 minutes later after some very effective pushing from mummy! *hehe*
Milk just came in last night so she's been feeding almost 2hrly which is driving me insane, but given that we were forced to do some comp feeds in hospital with formula (grrr...side story which I won't elaborate yet on) I'm happy she's surviving on my milk alone now.
Okies...off to make some changes to my ticker and hopefully will have a chance to post some photos of my little girl soon!
Thank you to everyone for your encouragement and support in pushing this little stubborn girl over the line!

Hi everyone
Just a quick post from me tonight. Diana has her 8 week weigh in tomorrow and in the afternoon we are booked at the photographer's to have some newborn shots taken (although the studio were going to post me their address details but these haven't arrived yet, so we may have to postpone...).
Diana has had sticky eye for the past few weeks (in both eyes). We were worried it might be conjunctivitis, but apparently it isn't. Her eyes aren't red and there is no swelling, she just has some goo coming out of the tear ducts. She doesn't seem distressed by it. We are washing it with saline solution several times a day and it seems to be getting better, but still hasn't quite cleared up.
Better go now and get everything ready for tomorrow. I hate rushing around trying to find things in the morning, so like to have it all layed out the night before.
Good night.
-
welcome home fran.
gkad to hear thingsa
are going well.
i am typing one handed as my little aNGEL IS AWAKE YET AGAIN.....
whoops he he... will pop back in a few hours
hugs

Welcome back Fran:)
Sounds like you did an awesome job with Alessia's delivery. Can't wait to hear all about it.
Well I'm just about to head off for Charlize's swimming lesson, then have to be back by 12 for an inspection then off again for a seminar at 4. It's sooooo crazy ATM, I can't wait until this place sells. Because I'll tell you it's so hard to keep tidy and clean all the time with Charlize running around pulling everything out. In between Jacks feeds its starting to drive me crazy:rolleyes: I'll survive though, just don't know for how much onger;)
Anyway all, take it easy, hope your all well.
Oh BTW does anyone plan to try and have two babies close together? Will anyway be trying for another one in the near future?
-
Mel – you are a star for managing a newborn & a toddler whilst trying to sell your house. It’s hard enough to stay on top of this when it’s just 2 adults, but juggling little ones as well is hard, repetitive work. As for your question about having another one quickly – I’d be there in a flash if we could afford it, but sadly, I have a stupid car loan which needs to be covered, and Pat just doesn’t earn enough to manage this on top of the expenses that having a baby incurs, like OB fees. So I think I’ve got about 18 months to wait before I can convince him to go again.
Welcome back Fran, I’m looking forward to reading your birth story. It’s great that Allessia's feeding from you alone, hope that things settle down a bit more for you soon – 2 hourly feeds are exhausting! Isn’t it unreal when you can start using their name rather than just referring to them by nicknames. And yet I can write a sentence about using names without actually using them!
Bec – Xavier is gorgeous, love the pic. We set our overnight temp to around 16.5, which is on the lower end of the scale for newborn comfort (16-20 degrees is what I’ve read), and with a flannel wrap & a woollen blanket, Liam sleeps well. But then, this could just be Liam being a good sleeper anyway, it’s so hard to tell IYKWIM.
Sara – things are probably different from state to state, but I also went Private, but didn’t have to wait at all for the MCHN to contact me & to come for the 1st visit. Basically, we got home on the Saturday, & the MCHN called to make an appointment on Monday, and came to visit on Tuesday. I’m not particularly good at knowing what/who to call, so some of the other girls on here are probably going to be much more informative, but it does seem to me that it might be time to make a bit of a fuss, just in case you’ve slipped through the cracks.
Kylie –LOL at the big poo making Seb smile – that’s such a boy thing I reckon, the inordinate pride they get over bowel movements. Liam’s the same, he’s not yet smiling as such, but we can see great satisfaction on his little face when he fills his nappy. And we’re proud of him too LOL.
Zofia – good luck with the weigh in today, looking forward to hearing how Diana goes.
Anyhow, I’d better be off. My mum is coming over soon to take me shopping for an outfit to wear to a wedding that we are going to on Saturday. Fortunately it’s just the wedding, not the reception, that would have been too much to manage, but it’s still going to be a big day for us all. I’m not really in the mood for shopping, but it has to be done. And it will give me a chance to start looking around for Father’s Day presents, plus if we go to Chadstone I can get a yummy hot chocolate – that will make the trip worthwhile :D
-
Mel,
We are off to Bali on Sept 15th to have ceremonies for the kids, see the inlaws & have a bit of a holiday! OOOh & nope, as sad as it is, no more babies for us... We are blessed & have finished our family now, looking forward to the next stages of life!!!
I'd still be putting some breastmilk in eye whether sticky eye or conjunctivitus as it will likely clear up both/either!
Zyon had a rough night again, from 3am, awake on & off screaming with wind pain til 7am... I didnt feed him though as he wasnt looking for breast, but I popped a dummy in & he'd settle & fall asleep but half an hour or so & he'd be pulling up his legs & windy again... I tried for over an hour to get the wind up including giving him Infants Friend, but he's had a big feed at 7am & been asleep deeply since, so maybe the pocket of wind is out now so I will continue Infants friend each feed & hopefully he will then be able to sleep tonight!?
Ok I am gonna force myself to nap today after last nights lack of sleep, Indah has a cold & lot's of snot so will get hner to have a nap earlier than usual too... But got friends here tomorrow so gonna bake some lemon butter cupcakes!
BBL...
-
Just a quick post (because my house looks like a bomb has hit it and I should be cleaning!!)
V- I think I told you about how Oscar's eye was all yucky?? Well, it is the same as how you describe Avaleigh's. Everyone keeps telling me breast milk too so def keep trying that but I was a bit worried as the poor little man couldn't open his eye properly. So we went to the Dr and he gave us some eye drops which has cleared it up a lot. So maybe that could be something to look into??
Hi to everyone else... will come back later when my house is clean (if that ever happens!)
-
Hi there girls!
Glad I'm not the only one awake at crazy hours!! hehe
Well, we are off to see MCHN today.... will see how much beef the little one has put on. Hopefully a bit.
Those of you from the 2nd due July thread will probably remember our scare with Lach's brain at my 22 week scan, and then my joy at a 28 week scna in Melb.
Well, today we are having a precautionary scan in Bendigo. Just to make sure that there is nothing wrong with anything in his little head. I'm pretty sure we would know by now if there was. Hes such a happy little active boy, and been eating sleeping and feeding like a trooper.
The pead did have a look at him when we were in hospital, adn said he thinks there is no prob, but he decided to scna just in case. We go adn see the pead next weds for full details fo the results, but we should know pretty much today if there are any issues.
Anyway, hope ur all having a good day.
My MIL2B, and SIL2B came around before and did some housework for me. Was very nice of them, but makes me feel like I am a little incapable of doing things. Stupid proud brain of mine!! lol
well, time for a nappy change.
hugs to all:)
-
Nicky- Good luck with the weigh in and the scan. hope all is well
I know what you mean about help around the house- even though all the books say to accept all the help you can get, It eould make me feel so useless :(. Ohh to be proud... the dramas.....
Kaitlyn is stirring and I just put her down :( she been awake all day :(. i just want to sleep. oh will go and settle her down again. bbl
-
Hi all,
Sara, yeah, I'm biased but everyone keeps telling me his perfect, so what a mum to do?
I did ask about the amount we eat and the uality of the breast milk. I'm wondering if i where to actually go back to my pre prego diet, which wasn't much would xavier be deprived. I am actually still enjoying eating big meals, and still having an excuse.
Veronica, I hope it is just sticky eye, and it clears up soon.
Mel, you are a trooper!! I'm glad to hear charlize is feeling better now. It never feels nice when your all backed up.
Fran:clap::clap::clap: You did such a great job. I got about 3 hours in, felt like 10 and was like when will this be over!!! So going for so long. That goes for everyone that had a long labor. My hat goes off to you all.
Zofia, I hope the weighin went well. I'm sure Diana is growing like nobodies business. Your in NSW? maybe you could shed some light on Sara's predicament with MCHN.
Jan, without the heater our house gets probably as low as 5 at night. and the last 2 days the morning have been negatives, so I'm glad I got the panel heater out for him. But we can't have the normal heater on because it wreks havoc with both Nathan and I. It has worked out well just heating his room though. Means I am much more eager to get up and feed him, now that I have a chair in his room, and I don't wake Nathan up .
Tracey, poor little zyon. It must be heartbreaking to see him in so much discomfort.
Danielle don't stress about the cleaning. I've been planing to vacume for a week now. Might do it one day, might wait till next week when mums on holidays, she might do it for me
Nicki, who have you got for MCHN. I've been alocated to K Flat, and it is no where near me, so I'll be switching to annie galvin. Good luck with your scan, but I agree with you that I don't think they will find anything wrong with lachlan. As you mentioned he seems to be doing just fine. You mentioned MIL2b and SIL2b, does that mean you guys are planning something for the near future???
-
Hi girls
How are you all? Forgive my typing as I am also juggling a squirmy baby!!
mel - you are a super mum with trying to sell your house and look aftet Jack and Charlee!! Funny story about Charlee and her poop in the bath - yuck but cute!! So did you have many through for your open?
Zofia - how did the weigh in go? Did you end up getting the photos done of Diana? WE are getting some taken over the next few weeks by an Adelaide photographer who is just amazing - he did ones of both the boys and they look fantastic so I am looking forward to getting some done of Charlotte.
Nixky - how did lachlans scan go? Luck you you having MIL2b and SIL 2b do some cleaning!!
Fran - welcome home. I am looking forward to hearing yor birth story. Oh and I love the name Alessia- very pretty.
danielle - I second rebeccas comment about not stressing about the cleaning!! I had Oliver and Jesse in childcare today and had planned on cleaning the house but didtn do a thing apart from the dishes!!
Jan - did you manage to find an outfit for the wedding ooohh and I like the sound of your hot choc!!
Rebecca - I just realised you lived in Bendigo. My best friend lives there and is a nurse at the hospital. I was last there at the start of 06 for her wedding.
V - I hope Avaleighs eye has cleared up.
Me - Oliver and jesse were in childcare today so it was a very cruisy day. Although in saying that for some reason Charlotte picked today of all days to be a bit unsettled - but never mind better she do it today rather than a day when I am having to chase two little boys as well!!
DH has jsut gone to pick the boys up from childcare so I had better start preparing for the craziness that a day at childcare brings - eg 2 very tired boys.
Hi to everyone else.
Take care
Jem
-
Hi everyone...still haven't had a chance to read back on everything...everytime I get a chance to sit down, Alessia stirs. We had the worst night last night...she didn't sleep for more than 1 hour at a time (after being spoiled with 4-5 hour blocks before then) so I'm a bit zombie like today. The MHCN just rang to organise an appt to come over tomorrow - hopefully she'll give me some pointers on how to settle Alessia a bit better.
Just a quick Q - in your bub's first week, how many poos did they do? Alessia hasn't pooped since last night...she's had plenty of wet nappies but no poo in sight! :(
Okies...must be off to try and get some food in me...have lost all my appetite lately, but know I must eat to keep my breast milk up.
Hope all your gorgeous bubbas are doing well and talk soon! *hugs*
-
Hugs Fran I think we all know what it feels like to only get them to sleep for short amounts of time. I'd say that Kaetlyn was like that today, but she just wasnt sleeping at all.
A friend popped over, and kaetlyn finally fell asleep in her arms, so have left her in her rocker in the lounge room-asleep. Aaron wasnt at home today so I had to contend with her screaming by myself. I pulled the dummy out and tried again (previous attempts to settle with a dummy had failed) and it seemed to work, who knows how long for though.
It fell out when she was asleep- am i then ment to leave it out or try and put it back in? We dont really want her to have a dummy but if it works, we are willing to try it. Are there any tricks so she doesnt get to attatched to it?
About the poo's i cant remember how many she did in the first week, Aaron did most of nappy changes then, but I can tell you there have been a hell of a lot more since!!!!!
Rebecca- What you need to remember is that while PG and breastfeeding, all the important stuff - vitamins and minerals etc goes to the baby/milk first, rather than to you. I read in what to expect when your expecting that you can use this time to 'lose excess weight by eating less calories'. This is not a good idea as that means your little tike will be missing out on the good bits he needs (and so will you as well). Does this make sense?
Jemima and Mel - and anyone else with more than one child- hats off to you all- i dont kknow how you do it- and Dee you must be supermum and deserve something to be named after you with 5 offspring...
I found a link on the BB site and they are going to organise a meet-up out my way, so should be good. I just read a post and there is a girl that goes to the playgroup right across from my house. Its amazing to think how small the world really is!!!!
-
HI there everyone,
well looks like lachs brain is aok. His left ventricle is slightly larger than the right, but the docs said that if they were to scan all babaies, this would be the case in 2 out of every 10 kiddies. I knew he wwas fine. We still have a follow up appointment with pead next weds to fully dicuss everything.
Rebecca - I have been sent to The MCHN at the helen jessen centre... kennington creche. It's close, but probably not the closest, but I really like my nurse there.
Funny you say Annie galvin, as my mum works at occasional child care centre. I was thinking about transferring there, as I go and have lunch with mum pretty regularly. Might just leave as is for the moment though.
Well, speaking of MCHN, my 'little' puddin is little no more. Someone the other day said that newborns only last until 5kgs.... hmm.... Lach will not be a newborn after next tues I can guarantee that! hehe
He has put on 315grams in a week, and now weighs 4700g or 10lb5ounces!!!!!! holy cow!! He no longer fits in 0000.. although we only had 2 0000 outfits. He is almost too big for some of his 000 suits too!! He is going to be one big boy!!!
OH and the MIL2B and SIL2B.... I wish that meant something!! haha
although the other night Adam said he has seriously been thinking about it..... hehe
It will never happen!
well, going to get some sleep. catch u girls soon:)
Hugs
-
Nicky, good to hear all is well with little Lachlan.
Fran, I hope you have a better night tonight.
Jem, we had 8 groups go through on saturday and 2 took away contracts. But so far we haven't heard anything more. Apparently our agent has had a death in her family so she won't be back in the office until friday, which is a bain in the butt for us but I guess worse for her, just bad timing really. Fingers crossed it sells soon though, I don't know how much longer I can keep sane trying to keep the place neat, clean and tidy. The market is hot up here ATM, I'll just keep my fingers crossed. I hope you really enjoyed today alone with Charlotte. I mentioned to DH about me giving Charlee to my mum on fridays so I can catch up on house work, food shopping etc. and he wasn't thrilled. It really annoys me that he isn't supportive of me trying to have a break for a day, it makes me feel like I should be able to cope 24/7, it makes me feel sort of like I'm failing. I think if I mentioned day care he would chuck a wobbley. Sorry just venting:rolleyes:
Blueflower, believe it or not, the second is much easier than the first. I'm finding that I'm enjoying Jack being a newborn (well an infant now:redface:) much more than I did with Charlize. I'm just much more relaxed this time around, I have found getting into a routine much easier too. I didn't get into one with Charlize until she was about 3 months old. I'm sure you'll be just the same, when you have another. And about the dummy, Charlize still has one for sleeps, but I plan to have the tooth fairy take it when she turns 2;) Jack doesn't seem to like it much, but I find it helps to settle him when he has belly pains. I'm hoping though he doesn't get attached to it though, but not really concearned if he does.
Nicky, I can understand how your hormones play with your emotions. Mine are sometimes up and down like a brides nighty, they will settle soon though, then we might start to feel a little normal again:pray: Big yey on the house cleaning though.
Tracey, what happens at the kis ceremony? Is it like their christenings or similiar? Look like DH is more likely going to be sent to Nagoia (sp?) in Japan. Should be back christmas eve, I'm hoping anyway. How long will you be staying for?
Can you believe this, there has only been once that I have changed Jacks nappy when it hasn't had poo in it since he was born, unbelieveable hey:redface: Is there such a thing as a baby that poos too much?
-
Hi everyone
A bit of a selfish a post tonight as I have a baby on my breast, so can't type to comfortably...
Diana's weigh in went well today. She is 4.25kg and 55cm long. Unfortunately her sticky eye may be turning into conjunctivitis, as her eyelid looked a bit pink :( . Hopefully that was just from the washing and wiping we did that morning, but I am going to take her to the dr this week just to make sure. She is due for her vaccinations this week too. Eek.
The photo shoot went reasonably well, after a shaky start. Diana was really unsettled at first. I had to feed her twice. After the first feed she did a gigantic poop that leaked through her nappy, so we had to change her then and there . Luckily she was wearing dark coloured trousers so there was no visible stain. We are going to look at the proofs next week.
I don't know if I mentioned, but I put a few more photos up on Diana's website the other day. I have put her into a 000 suit today as she is getting a bit long for her 0000s. She is growing so fast.:D
Fran - welcome back. Hope you are enjoying Alessia. In the first week, after my milk came in Diana started pooping about 4-5 times a day. This increased in the next few weeks to about 10-12 poops per day. It is only recently (at about seven weeks) that she seems to be pooping slightly less often (maybe eight times a day). LOL, what a topic .
BTW - looking forward to seeing some pics of your gorgeous girl.
Sara - when Diana was first born one of the midwives at the hospital arranged for MCHN to pay us a home visit the next week. After that we went to the early childhood centre once a week for the first four weeks and once every two weeks since. Where abouts in NSW are you? Maybe I have a contact number somewhere that may be able to help you.
Nicki - glad to hear that Lachlan's appointment went well and that he is fine. :)
Good night everyone.

Hello everyone! Congratulations on all of your lovely little bundles of joy!:D Computer has been broken so I haven't been able to get on the net but all is good now :D I need to go through and find the updated list of bubbas! Will post later once I know more of whats happened lol

Hi everyone - sorry for the MIA, I have been around, just no where near as much as usual, and with 2 little boys running around and a bub in this tiny house, we are all going a bit loopy and counting down till we move! ( just over 5weeks)
Angus is brilliant at night, but pretty unsettled for large parts of the day, with huge amounts of wind pain at night, so that has been pretty time consuming as well.
I had to let him scream himself to sleep this morning, cause I was right in the middle of getting the boys breakfast etc ( 1 yo learning how to feed himself) and we are in a double storey house so even though I was going up to settle him, I had to give up in the end and he went off to sleep himself finally. I felt sooo bad.
Mel how exciting about putting your house on the market , I hated it when we did it, the poor kids could barely play with their toys before I was packign them up.
We will look at having another 1 (or maybe 2!!!) but not until these three are off to school. If I have another pregnancy I really want to enjoy it, not just survivie it.
Nicky - that is fantastic news about Lachlan, it must be a huge relief for you!
I promise to be alot better coming in here, especially once we move anbd I have space! lol

Hi All,
Not much to report, yesterday Georgie decided she didn't want to sleep but she wasn't unsettled, just awake from 9am-1.30pm. At 1.30 I decided to go for a walk which sent her to sleep. I'm afraid to say this because it will probably jinx me but she appears to know night and day coz she is sleeping and settling well at night (God I hope she has a good night tonight). Last night she went 4.5 hours between 1 feed which was very good for, maybe she was exhausted from not sleeping during the day.
To answer q bout pooey nappies. Every nappy change Georgie has a pooey nappy, I change her nappy at every feed so she is having (feeding 7-8 times per day).

Hi everyone...thank you for your replies in regards to #2s...Alessia did a massive poop this morning at 3:30AM...lovely wake up call! *lol* The MCHN said it's perfectly fine for her to be pooping as infrequently as she is...I just don't want a whole lot of gas pain to build up in her IYKWIM? Right now the little munchkin is just staring at me...she has huge eyes like me! The rest of her though, she's ALL David! :)
Last night was a little better with sleep, but we're still struggling to work out what all her cries mean...they tear my heart apart b/c I don't know what to do a lot of the time :( David's really great with her, but unfortunately he doesn't have a set of bb's to give me a break from the constant feeding!
I've popped a ticker pic for you all to see...once I've got more than 10 mins to myself, I'll try to upload the rest of our pics on my website.
Baby hugs to all!

Fran she is just adorable. From memory Charlize only did poos every few days, but when she did they were an explosion!!!!! And try not to be so hard on yourself, by the sounds of it your doing a fantastic job. You'll get more confident everyday she gets older, but to me it sounds as though you have already.
Relle, nice to hear from you hun. I have had to let Jack cry himself to sleep a couple of times too, when I have been busy with Dinners and baths. I guess it's good that they are getting used to self settle but it does break your heart sometimes hey:cry: The count down is on 5 weeks to go for the big move:dance: Ours is still a long way off!!
Hi to everyone else.
Well Jack is offically a pippy:p He has broken the 5kg mark. He is now 5.4kg. And yes that is up 600+gm in 2 weeks. He'll be bigger than his sister by christmas at this rate. I compared their weights at 6 weeks and he is as big as she was at 10wks. All good though, he is on the track to be top footy player.;)

Hi all,
Jemima, Nicki is in Benidigo too. Is your friend a midwife, maybe one of us came across her.
Fran, hang in there, your on the down hill run to the end of the first 6 weeks. They are meant to be the heardest. Alleissia may just be adjusting to a new environment. Maybe you just did too much of a good job on the nursery and she is mesmorised by her boori furniture  Xavier seems to do a couple of poos a day, he's a machine!! I never bothered counting, 'cause i feel like we constantly change nappies and clothes. Maybe the not pooing is why she's not sleeping
What a gorgeous little girl too. I wish Nathan had bb's too. It would make it soo much easier.
Sara, that is what I was thinking about the calorie intake and nutrition etc. I have been trying to have fruit with my icecream ;) But seriously I have been a lot better behaved with my diet than before Prego, For the first time in years I've been having breakfast regularly. I'm hoping that me being so hungry is going to keep my higher pregnany metabolism e maintained.
Nicki, I'm sure Adam will surprise you. I think they change when they become Daddy's. I've been told that at Annie, Jennie is the best to see.
I have to say I was really surprised to firstly run into someone who live in bgo on Belly Belly, and now you have shocked me again. My mum is your mum's boss, gees it's a small world.
Zofia, who would have thought as little as a few months ago, that now we would be talking about poo. The things mums do huh? And just think you will be checking that she's pooing ok on and off for the rest of your life,
Well we had a fairly busy day today. We had to go out and I think that mucks xavier up a little as he then doesn't feend and sleep as well during the day. Hoepfully he still settles at night, 'cause we had a pretty good night last night. awake at 2.30 feed, burp, change, feed burp back in bed by 2.45 then awake again at 6.45 feed burp change and asleep again until 9ish. I actually felt like I had rest. Well the main thing is he finally settled this evening and is in Bed right now. Nothing planned for tomorrow, so we might just spend half the day in bed.
wishing all a good nights rest. I'm not far out of bed tonight!!

He he, mum and I had been talking about that actually... we thought we might know who ur mum was!! hehe
Yeah mum talks to Jennie all the time about me and bubs. hehe. Shes trying to get some nice hints for me. lol.
I agree it is weird to run into someone from bendigo, let alone someone due about the same time as you. hehe
Fran ur little one is adorable!! I too know how hard it is to find 10 mins to urself. I still havent got a pic on my ticker.... I have only put a couple on my site too:( one of these days.
Hope you are loving being a mum! Your little girl is nearly a week old! Time goes so fast!!
Mel Congrats on 'little' (hehe) Jacks weight gains!! No longer a newborn!! Its scary to think how much weight they put on! My 'little' chunky one will be at the 5kg mark next week!!! little fattie he is! lol
Bridee 4.5 hours between feeds... lucky you!!! I usually get 2-2.5 hours between. Last night I had 3. I was ecstatic. Hopefully I get more and more time in between over the next few weeks, the night feeds are killing me!
Relle I feel for you mving in 5 weeks! We are moving at the end of october... adn i dread packing:(
I think we will probably just get rid of heaps of stuff. We are moving an hour away to the middle of nowhere.... it will be interesting. Good luck with it!
Star sounds like you and diana are going great guns!!! Congrats on the weight gain!! And good luck with the vaccinations... I am not looking forward to those:(
Anyway, I have just finished a feed bath change and feed.... daddy is lying down with Lach at the min.. having some father son time. Soooo cute. hehe
Hope you are all enjoying urselves and not being woken up too often... no doubt I will come back on at around 4am as someone wont wanna leave my arms again.
Take care
Hugs
Nicky

I am having a difficult time with Zyon & colic, he screams every 45mins around the clock, I can only get sleep if we are propped up & he's asleep on his tummy on my chest, he will be in a deep sleep, I lay him down next to me & within 10 mins he's screaming again..
exhaustion is killing me as Indah has aflu too & is clingy all day, thankfully sleeping alnight though!
Sorry for selfish post!
-
Oh Tracey you poor thing:cry: Poor little Zyon and Inah too. I'm finding Infacol works well for Jack. I used to have him on Infants Friend but Infacol is easier to use an he likes the taste better, but they do have to be 1month old to take it. I hope Indah gets better soon. Has she just recently gotten sick, or is she on the downhill? Either way I hope she gets better soon. And I hope you can get some rest up too, do you have someone that can help?
-
Yeah I was told Infacol is better but he isnt yet 1 month!
He is finally asleep propped on a pillow in the bassinette on his tummy, I know it's against SIDS but it's the ONLY way he can seem to sleep in no pain! He is beside me too, so I can see he's OK..
Indah has had a runny nose for a few days but yesterday she had a fever & snot everywhere & now a cough & just wants to be held!!!
I keep repeating Ït's not forever, but when i fed at (approx) 8pm, 10pm, 12am, 2am, sitting up with his screaming & in pain from 2 til 6am, I only fed when he was really looking for milk, other than that i was awake inbetween all those times popping a dummy in as he was just screaming not hungry.. I might call MCHN, as he has green poo too, which I cant recall girls ever having & it's been green since birth!
Waaah, I think I was blessed with baby #1, she slept 8 hours from 1 wk old, then Indah slept basically 4hourly, but poor Zyon is just doing my head in ATM!!!!
DH is at work, Mum & Dad whom live in the unit behind us are on a 3wk driving holiday & are in Glasshouse mountains ATM, so nope it's just me!!!
I'll be OK!
-
Hi Everyone!!
Fran - welcome back!! The 2 hrly feeds are exhausting arent they - Avaleigh is currently doing that during the night!!
Tracey - sorry to hear that Zyon is suffering as well :( Avaleigh has been OK, she has been giving me some real good burps but she still sleeps really really unsettled by herself, so I've been on the couch with her!! And she doesnt sleep much during the day. I have tried sleeping her on her tummy during the day cause she always falls asleep on Jason's chest when she is on her tummy, but she doesnt really like it, just tries to lift her head up all the time! I hope Indah gets better soon as well.
Mel - I think the next bub will be in about 2 yrs time, so not really in the near future but it is in the future!! Jason hasnt actually said anyything about the next one, but I have been thinking bout it. I'd like to have about 2.5 yrs inbetween them and I think we will only have 2 kids. But then again, Jason could have different ideas! LOL
Avaleigh's eye is much better now. It pretty much cleared up the next day so I dont know what it would have been. I did do the breast milk in eye once, so maybe that worked?! No idea tho....
Has anyones bub's been real screamers lately?? OMG Avaleigh was a real screamer yesterday!! She was screaming after a feed and I thought she wanted more, so I tried to give her more but she jsut kept playing with my nipples and then started screaming and screaming so I popped a dummy in and that shut her up!! I dont really like putting a dummy in her when she screams, but sometimes its the only thing to do... I wonder if her screaming and regular feeding has got to do with a growth spurt?? The midwives told me to expect alot of feeding when they are going through a growth spurt. I must say, she looks a lot bigger now!!
Well planning for my wedding is in full swing now. My mum decided to help me afterall. She said at the beginning th at she wasnt going to help but she realised that I dont have much time on my hands. I am so happy she is helping, mum has some good ideas. The things we have sorted are photographer, wedding car and venue. I've got the type of cake and flowers that I want, just gotta go to a few places to see how much it'll cost to get them done. Still need the invites done! And then a few other bits and peices. I am not looking for my wedding dress until November cause I want to try and lose the rest of my baby weight.
Talking aboutr baby weight, I am going to start exercising today - if Avaleigh lets me!! Jason made a comment the other night after I was talking about all my stretch marks that I need to go back to the gym, I was not happy about that!! But it is true, I am 10kg heavier now and its not coming off anymore like it had been - I did lose 12kg already which I am so happy about!
Anyways, better make myself comfy on the couch and watch something on Foxtel that I watch every day! LOL
-
Hi all,
Nicki, that's pretty funny. Seriously my mum is an aquired taste, half of the city knows her, some like her, some don't. Because she knew one of the midwives on at the hospital when Xavier was born they let her in the Delivery room!! Luckily I had just got to the shower. I was still not impressed!
Tracey, you poor thing. Hang in there. Even though it's against the SIDS principles, I think it's probably better for both of you if you find a way for both of you to get rest, while your able to watch him, rather than accidentally falling asleep at the worst possible time. I hope Indah starts feeling better soon too. Not too much longer and your first 6 weeks will be over, your mum and dad will be back and everything will just fall into place.
Xavier has had some green poo also. yet not all the time. I was wondering if it was something I ate??
I just remembered as well, this is nowhere near what your going through, but he had the sniffles, and when he spews it is really mucusy so we raised one end of the cot matress. He sleeps on a permanent angle, to help him breath.
What's with the 2 hourly feeds at night. I hope we're not heading back in that direction. We seem to do 2-3 hourly during the day and about 4hourly at night. Granted the only way I get 4 hours + at night is to spend a full hour on a combination of the feeding burping, changing and a little cuddle. I've suddenly realised he's not closing his eyes right after a feed, so I have to do some gentle rocking and then pop him into bed while he still looks awake, and stroke him.
-
Hi All,
Georgie seems to have a bit of wind today, every time I lie her down in her basinette she starts to cry. I've placed her in her rocker and she seems content, think it could be the angle that is helping. For those with babies suffering wind perhaps this could help.
I sleep Georgie on her back, she will only sleep with her head tilted to the one side. As a result her ear is being folded over. We've tried turning her head but she won't have any part of it, she turns it straight back. Does anyone elses baby do this?
-
Bridee, my little girl used to do this. I found that if we turned her bassinet around to face the other direction she would turn her head. She just liked to look in the same direction. Maybe your girl is the same.

Hi everyone!
I am back at last and my house still isn't clean! I don't think it will ever be the same again!!
Well I took Oscar to the MCHN today and he has put on 440g in 8 days! She said they would expect to see that weight gain in 2 weeks! So as she put it "he is growing like a mushroom!". She said I am doing a great job with him (which always makes you feel better to be told that!). So I came away from there today feeling really positive and was great to see how much my little man is growing!
Bridee- Oscar was doing the same with his head and as Mel said.. move the cot/bassinette the other way around. I just persisted with turning Oscar's head when he was asleep and now he sleeps facing both ways.. good luck with it! I'm sure it will sort itself out!
V- I know what you mean about Avaleigh and her just playing with your nipples. Oscar did that from 1am-3am this morning... I tried everything with him to get him to suck but nope!! I tried putting him to bed a few times but he was still starving and sucking his hand like crazy. In the end I gave him his dummy and he slept for about an hour then I had to feed him again. He fed a little better but not much! He seems to be better today though. Hope Avaleigh has improved too!
Fran & Bec- Xavier & Alessia are just gorgeous! They really are cute babies!
Hi to everyone else... sorry I forget who has posted what as usual!
