Hey everyone,
I hope everyone had a great day, cause I did!! I started my exercising this morning but had to cut it 10mins short cause Avaleigh was crying for a feed, it felt good to be doing it again. and LOL I got no tummy muscles now!! haha I hope they come back quick smart!!
I took Avaleigh food shopping for the first time today (other times I left her with Jason) and she was really really good. I was afraid she would be screaming the whole time cause she was in the car but she was quite happy in the little chair thingy as long as she had her dummy!! By the end, she had fallen asleep.
And I have now just come back from an 1 hr walk - arent I so good??!! I hope this weight jsut starts falling off me.
-
hi everyone
prob just a short msg today, am nursung kaetlyn. she has been so demanding the last couple of days. we seem to be using the dummy a bit more than i would like, but ah well, it settles her, and whenshe falls asleep i take it out and she dosent realise. she has been awake since 12- when i had to wake her.
unlike most of you, kaetlyn will go quite happily forages without feeds, i am having to generally wake her for feeds, and am struggling to get the min 6 feeds in 24 hours. i will ask the nurse tomorow.
Bec- she finally called today and is coming tomorrow, so will ask her about mothers groups.
Ihave been incontact with other bb members that live locally and we are organising a meetup not far from my house - about 25mins drive, so if i am free i will go. all the other members have older children- 2+ so should be interesting.
Well it takes ages to type one handed so will finish up and might be bacl later depending on kaetlyn.
i just wanted to ask, what do people do for play time at this age? it seems kaetlyn gets bored with my playing!!!
-
Hi All,
Blueflower - play time at the moment for me involves putting Georgie underneath her play gym she does stares at the same thing but I show her the different toys. I also read to her which she seems to like. I'm also doing nappy free time at the same time as massaging her, sometimes she likes sometimes she doesn't.
Daneillec and mel - thanks for the suggestion of turning bassinet around, I did swap the ends she sleeps in but that didn't work, it really isn't that big of an issue and I'm sure she will eventually lay the other side.
-
hmm... I feel like I am not satisfying Avaleigh with my milk... Dont most babies have a feed and then go to sleep??!! Well my lil princess is not doing that... and I dont think its the colic that is keeping her awake as she isnt showing any wind signs.... Pretty much she feeds maybe 20 mins on one side, I then give her the other side and she is there for only a few minutes before coming off and 'shutting up shop'. I cuddle her for a little while, put her down. Shes maybe down for 15 mins before she wakes up crying/screaming!! And then about an hour later she is acting like she is hungry again.... Its driving me insane!! Does she really want more or what?! I wouldnt have a clue!! I am thinking of maybe expressing some milk out and give that to her after she done with my breasts but Im not sure if i want too...
-
V- i know how you feel, i sometimes try handexpressing a little just to make sure there is milk still coming through. thats the downfall with bfing. not sure if they are getting enough. try talking to your MHCN, see what suggestions she has.
Now for a little fun.... was searching the area i live in and there is a girl looking for playgroups in my area. anyways we exchanged msn addies and turns out, i know her fmily froma round the area- my bro went to scouts with her bro and our parents knew each other.... such a small world......
well off to wake Kaetlyn for her feed0 damn little one always sleeps though the 5 hour max time limit, will ask nurse about it tomorrow.
night night
-
Hi girls...
Veronica... dont stress about ur milk not being satisfying. Avaleigh is probably just going through a growth spurt. My nurse said to expect one around 3 weeks.
Sometimes I find that Lach has a big feed on one side, dessert on the other, and then is wide awake for a good hour afterwards. I think he is just testing my patience.
I know that I have plenty of milk in both breasts as his poor face wears it nearly every feed, but as Sara said, if u are worried, maybe try expressing some.
Well my little Lach already has so many professional photos... and we are getting more done next week. I cant wait! He's s cute in the ones I gt today even though he is asleep. lol
well, fingers crossed for a good night here again.
Hope you are all well:)
Hugs

V - the first few weeks can be tough cant they. Just a thought but do you wrap Avaleigh? You probably do but I thought I would mention it just in case. I know that wrapping has made the hugest difference to settling all three of our babies - I wrap Charlotte really tightly when she starts to show signs of tiredness and it helps her to settle and then fall asleep. It also stops her startling herself awake once she has fallen asleep (if that makes sense). Hope this helps.
Hi to everyone else. Just a quick one from me for now. I have had a very busy day and I have painful coldsores on my lips/mouth (woe is me LOL) and I need to have a vege before feeding Charlotte. BBL

-
jem - yeh i do wrap Avaleigh but maybe not tight enough becaise she always gets out! I might need to invest in some bigger wraps cause i've only got one that i can wrap her up real well..
Nicky - lol yeh Avaleigh is the same with my breast milk! the poor thing can get covered in it sometimes.
i think I am going to give Avaleigh a nice bath, a feed (again!!) and hopefully she will go to sleep. I am going to try have her sleep in her own bed tonight, I've been sleeping on the couch for the past week and want to be in my own bed!!

Hi everyone! Wow I don't know how all the mums on BB have time to post! Alessia has been a it alllllll day long! We were super blessed with a great night's sleep...she slept for 3 hours...had a feed and then went down for another 5 hours...I felt great after this morning!!! But then this afternoon, different story. Didn't sleep for more than 1 hour...quite grizzly and then comes the "I'm in agony" cry :(
Eventually we gave in and gave her a dummy b/c I can't pop her on my boob every 5 mins for comfort (my nipples are not happy chappys). The dummy did wonders for calming her down...we've discovered she's a bit colicy...so I'm trying to reserve the dummy for when we can't settle her ourselves.
Be careful what you wish for ladies...all this talk of poo made Alessia give us 3 pooey nappies in a row this morning *lol* Yay for my girl's digestive system!!! *hehe*
Another Q - Alessia is a bit sniffly and tonight had a slightly runny nose. Do you think I should have it checked out by a doctor? She's generally feeding well and alert...I'm just not sure what to do.
Ok, I'll try some personals, let's see how much time she gives me!
Veronica Are you burping Avaleigh after you feed her on the second boob? We've started burping Alessia after each burp, even if she's dead to the world...those blasted air bubbles cause such havoc with her sleep patterns. Hope that helps! Well done for all your exercising! My belly is just gross *lol* although I have already lost more than 12kg...hope the breastfeeding helps it continue to drop off!
Jemima Ouchie for cold sores! :( Hope they go away soon! *hugs*
Nicky I can't wait to see some professional photos of Lachlan! We're thinking about getting some done b/c we didn't have a hospital photographer take any snaps of Alessia. Did Lachlan wear any 0000 clothing in his first weeks? Alessia wore 0000 on the day of her birth and went straight into 000 the next day!
Sara Wow what a little sleeper Kaetlyn is! Hope the meet up with your local mothers goes well!
Danielle Yay for Oscar's weight gain! Great job you're doing!
Bridee My bubba does the same thing and loves to sleep with her head tilted to the side - but she routinely moves it from side to side to flat. She's a noisy sleeper!
Rebecca It's probably a good thing that Xavier is able to fall asleep from being awake in his bed - we've been trying to get Alessia to sleep from being awake, but it is so much easier to pop her down in her cradle when she's already out like a light!
Tracey *hugs* sounds like you've got it tough at the moment...hang in there...you're a great mum and I hope Zyon's pains don't last too much longer. The constant feeding is so tiring...sometimes I just have to hand Alessia to David and just breathe...and let my boobies recover!
Mel Woohoo for Jack!!! It's fantastic to hear that he's sleeping so well for you! I've started to learn how Alessia poos now...*lol* It's an EXPLOSION! Poor darling...she poos so loudly!
Relle You're doing fantastically...I keep saying I don't know how other mums do it, particularly when they have other kids to look after! Those afternoon windy pains sound like what Alessia has...it hurts so much to hear them cry like that :( *hugs*
Renee Welcome home hun and happy belated birthday!!! Thierry is so cute!!! *hugs* Can't wait to see more pics!
Zofia Look at little Diana grow! Well done hun! Good tip about dark bottoms for photo shoots! I'm in awe of all of you that can type and feed at the same time...I need to use both hands when I feed...these massive mammaries of mine just get in the way too much!
Jan Hope you had some success on your shopping expedition! We also have a wedding this Saturday but we won't be attending...I think it's too much for me to handle juggling a newborn and holding a coherent conversation!
Okies, that's as far back as this post will let me read...so if I've missed you, big HUGS, hope you're doing well! My little one is making "come have a look at me" noises, so might go and check on this munchkin. Take care everyone!

Morning Everyone.
We had a good night last night. Avaleigh managed to sleep for about 4-5 hrs between feeds so that meant she only fed twice last night! We still slept on the couch tho LOL I always plan to get her in her bassinette but I fall asleep and the next thing I know, she's awake for a feed!
Fran - you're doing a great job! I didnt want to give Avaleigh a dummy too, but I found that its better for her to have a dummy than my nipples!! I dont really like giving her her dummy all the time but the past few days she was been feeding/comforting on my nipples and now they are soo sore. And yes, I try and burp Avaleigh quite a few times during each feed. Depending on how long she feeds, I could burp her three times! But then she is still really grizzly afterwards....
Anyways, I am going to try and do some more exercising before the next feed.
TA TA ladies!

A quick one as always...
Fran- Oscar has had a cold for over a week now and when he first got it I took him to the Dr just to be sure. He checked him out and he was fine, the Dr said as long as they are still alert, fedding well and having plenty of wet nappies that they are all good signs that they are happy! I could feel in Oscar's back that he was a bit scratchy when breathing and his poor nose was snotty too. He is getting over it now though ... the Dr told us that he just has to wait it out like we do.
If you are concerned though just take Alessia up to the Dr for a quick check over... better to be safe I think! I am sure she will be fine though... so many people have colds at the min :( Too bad our poor little bubs have to get it too.
-
Hello - just a quickie:
Tracey - hugs hon. Jacksen only ever slept on his tummy - would not settle at all on his back, so I had to just go against the back sleep too - resulted in a much happier mum and bub. Your doing a great job hon, remember you are juggling not just you and Zyon's lives but your beautiful girls as well! Your a super star!
Fran - Maddison has a snotty nose too - very snuffly but is also alert and feeding fine. If your concerned though hon, it never hurts to get reassured from the dr's, just in case.
V & Fran - Maddison has a dummy, she loves to suck and isnt necessarily hungry. I had to decide between the dummy or her thumb (she was constantly sucking on her hands so it was a matter of time before she found her thumb, thought it might be easier to wean the dummy than the thumb) The boys never took a dummy so it was a hard call for me but she loves it, it settles her and I'm happy. She spits it out whilst she is sleeping generally and doesnt always need it to go to sleep so am just trying to get some sort of balance when I use it - but if she wants it she can have it (I'll over it sometimes and she wont take it). Maddison also takes a bottle and goes from a breast to bottle to dummy without any problem and definately no nipple confusion - believe me - she knows how to use the boobs!
-
I am with Kristy on the Dummy senario. We were both compltly against them and used it as a last resort, but has been saving grace for me the last couple of days. She is still taking the breast fine. This morning she wouldnt take the dummy and kept spitting it out and went off to sleep without it. She is actually a different child now since she uses it and that is only when she is unsettled and I am trying to get her to sleep.
We just had the ECHN visit. Kaetlyn has put on 780gm since birth, so that is really good. She taught us some good techniques for settling, which was our main issue. She also has a clean bill of health and her eye has cleared up by itself.
Also have my name on for mothers group, but might take a couple of months to get started. Will see what I can do in the mean time.
A funny thing happened while she was here. Kaetlyn was due for her feed when she arrived, so aaron went and changed her and brought her back into the lounge room., I could feel my hand was a bit wet, and the nurse chuckled and said...'Well youve obviously got a good supply happening for Kaetlyn' lol i looked down and my boob was leaking and had leaked through my bra, shirt and was dripping on the floor. I was so embarassed, and I only stopped wearing breast pads yesterday as they were more of a discomfort than anything! As soon as she left i went and put some in!!!! Oh well, all in the name of motherhood!!
Now... Hugs to all the second, third, fourth and fifth time mummies, you are all doing so well, just remeberthey are only this demanding on you for a little while. Motherhood is not easy, but is very rewarding.
Bridee- thanks for your info regarding play time. I sat there sitting to her and bouncing on my lap and she seemed to like that last night. She also seems to enjoy just laying there on her lambskin kicking her legs and arms around staring into space. We were going to get her a play gym but didnt think it would be of use just yet. Might get one with some of the money she has been given.
Mmmm thats about it from me- will go and make some lunch, not hungry but I need to eat.
Opps forgot to mention.. Kaetlyns Birth Certificate arrived today, and the baby bonus got paid out as well. SO we really do have a baby- its official!!!
Bye for now....

Hi everyone,
Well Lucy was born on the 26th of July and I see she shares the same bday as a few other bubs, we had a great labour and so far she is doing really really well, she is bottle feeding due to a supply problem and seems to be really content and happy atm, the biggest issue we have had to date is her sleeping patterns she loves to sleep all day but at night she has this radar as soon as we walk close to our room she spits her dummy out and her eyes open LOL, so I have been trying to get her use to our room and her bed by popping her in there while she is awake for a little while and that seems to be working well,
she feeds 2 times throughout the night usually at 1 am and again at 5am but it differs each night.
She gets some bad belly pain later in the evening too and pops off ALOT and then seems fine but I can tell it hurts her as she can get quite upset, so I pop her on my chest with her legs scrunched up and that helps a little, also warm baths help too.
I am feeling really tired lately as my 4 yr old daughter has pnuemonia and has been up each night too so getting up to 2 has taken its toll, luckily Grace is getting better now so is sleeping a little better so thats good poor little girl.
having a bit of an off day today as I havent left the house in 2 days so I think I will make the effort ot get out this afternoon as that seems to help and make me feel a little more human LOL,
blueflower I had to chuckle over your post it was quite funny, hope you found a good deal with your phone and net.
well a huge congratulations to you all on the birth of your baby's, hope to start popping in here a little more often from now on, its great to read about where you are all at atm seem though we are all pretty much at the same stages its really reassuring to know that I am not alone LOL
Take care
Amy

Afternoon everyone! Wow...what a sleeper Alessia is today! She's out like a light which gives mummy some free time to upload some of her pics! *hehe* The sniffly nose seems to be a little better, I think it may have been the cooler evening air that might make her a bit more raspy. She's feeding fine and doing lots of wet nappies so I guess we'll see how we go. Thank you to everyone for your comments and advice...it's just so scary taking care of another human being who is 100% dependant on you!
Sara I've only been using breastpads as a comfort thing...so my nipples don't get stuck to my bra *lol* but today I think I needed them for more than that purpose...I had leakage too! Yay...lol...means my boobs are working properly :)
Okies...off to sort out my website...it doesn't seem to be working for some reason! For those who are on my facebook, I have some pics there if you want to have a looksee :) Ciao for now!
-
Oh Yeah, another post :clap::clap:
Congrats amy. you sound really busy- I am busy with 1 child, let alone two with one being sick!!!
I am making the most of this week and next, as Aaron goes back to work soon, so am just chilling while he does everything else!!! LOL all the washing is done and dry in the dryer (rainy and overcast here today). it just needs to be put away oh and folded, but that can wait for another time.
Well off to procrastinate on the lounge before Kaetlyn decides its tucker time.
Bye!!!

Hi all
2 weeks down, tens of thousands to go!!
Danielle, Oscar is doing great!! Thanks for the coments on xavier, Oscar is certainly a handsom young man also.
Veronica, Yay for a great day. It makes a big difference huh? here's to a good night too. Good on you for exercising. I've been trying to do those tummy exercises where you just sit and suck your tummy in. I know I have to start walking and maybe do some weights for my arms, 'cause I've noticed they are thiner than they used to be and I want to maintain that.
RE: the sleeping right after feeding. I was told it was normal for this not to continue after about 1 month, and that at that stage I should be encouraging a little play after the feed and then help bubs to self settle, otherwise he will always associate sleeping with boobies, and i'd be making it really hard on myself.
Sara, Yay on finally getting contact with your MCHN, and organising some time with other mums. It's great that the MCHN was so helpfull. at the leaking. I keep finding I'm leaking too, at night I just let it happen, smoetimes i need a towel, and during the day I use pads. I have only used re-useable ones so far, the avent ones are great. Don't be imbarressed though. I answered the front door at 11 am for the postie the other day, holding a baby. I tell you you can get away with murder when you have one of those in your arms.
Fran nice to hear from you, 3 poos in a row, you aint seen nothin yet!! Xavier did something siilar to me, only when I thought he had finished pooing (waited 5 mins) then changed him, he continued to poo, while I was trying to clean his bum  no projectiles thnakfully.
Xavier seems to have had the sniffles since the day after we got home!! he does little coughs and big sneezes, and snorts and siffles, but he is still eating really well, lots of wet and pooey nappies. plus the dom nurse told me just to keep an eye on him, especially on his temp and the colour of any snot. if his snot is anything than a milky colour I should def get him checked. sometimes he sneezes and these big piles of snot come out his nose, it's really grose.
Welcome amy. Sorry to hear about your 4yo and the pneumonia. I hope she is on the mend. it must be hard. I am still in awe of all the supermums in here.
Dummies: like it seems most others I really didn't want to go the dummy path, because I have 3 nieces, that have all been quite attached to their dummies. But alas, dummy or lack of sleep, which is the lesser of 2 evils?? I'm a now person. We just try to use it sparingly.
well for us it looks like I mozzed myelf. Xavier slept for about 8 hours with a 5 min bum change and feeding interuption last night. The problem with that is it was 6pm to 2 am. I woke him at 10.30 pm ('cause he hadn't eaten for 5 hours) to feed, and he just fell back to sleep. Nothing I could do last night would get him back to sleep. by 4 am I had had enough of getting up and down, and singing, huming rocking, putting dummy in that I took him back to bed with me, where i lay gently holding a dummy in his mouth until one of us fell asleep. Around 6ish, I got uncomfy and woke him trying to re-arange us. then he did big poos, and I ended up giving him to nathan to change and look after. I went back to sleep, I think I fed him somewhere in there too, I was so tired.
Well Tonight, we are not going to sleep at 6pm!! I want that heavy sleep he was in last night, tonight, around 10pm would be nice.
Wishing you all a good long sleep tonight.
-
OMG 8 hours rebecca!!! I only wish Lach would sleep for more than 2.5 at night!!! bummer it wasnt later on.
Well, we've been out again today, shopping for fathers day pressies. I can't wait to give Adam his!! He's going to love it!
I have been trying to get Lach outside even for 5 mins everyday, get him used to it. He loves his pram and car rides, so thats a bonus.
I have also been using dummies.... sparingly though.
Also trying to get the little one to self settle. He's done it quite a few times now, so hopefully we wont have any big issues when he gets older.
I am still soooo in love with my little man. Hes so gorgeous.
Still also in shock that I am a mummy. Sometimes I just dont feel like I am.
It's amazing how naturally SOME things come to you. I have quite a bit of confidence now with Lach. We are very comfy with each other.
3 WEEKS OLD TOMORROW!!!
I am going to bake him a cake for his month old birthday, and buy him a nice birthday hat. hehe
Might even get him a pressie. I know, its corny and possibly a little over the top, but I wanna be celebrating every single little thing!! hehe
oooo Baths nearly run! I am going to relax in my salt bath.... soo glad I can have it mega hot now! Take me in some reading material, light the candles and have some music play in the background. Hopefully I dont fall asleep. Adam will have to check in on me!!
Heres to a good night for all!!!
Hugs girls:)

Hiya, well I am starting to get really tired now LOL, I have just put Lucy in her bed half asleep so that she is aware of where she is and hopefully is drifting off as we speak well type hehe,
Blueflower, yeah it does get pretty busy with 3 kiddies, but I love it and I am sure I will love it even more once I am over the sleep deprevation LOL, ahhh the dryer I swear god invented them for new mums LMAO I am using mine all the time atm shhhhh but hey who has the energy to hang washing out NOT ME !!!! LOL, I hope you enjoyed your couch time, I have been loving my couch lately it just seems to be my fav place to be when Lucy is asleep, right infront of the tellie in ga ga land, hope you have a good night and get plenty of peacful sleep.
Fran hope you got your picies all sorted, Lucy had a bit of a runny nose in her first couple of weeks, perhaps its just a newborn thing not sure though, but she definately didnt get sick.
Rebecca Wow 8 hours pitty it wasnt later in the night for you, hope you get plenty of sleep tonight.
Nicky I hope you enjoyed your bath it sounds like pure heaven to me, I might have to give that a go sometime soon. I am trying to help Lucy to self settle too, how are you going? what sort of things are you trying? atm I am not running to her with every noise I am waiting to see if she starts actually crying and then I go to her and just make the shhhh sound and place my hand on her and tell her its okay I am here and then when she is quite and settled again I walk away and that seems to be working atm.
Me on dummies, well I have used them for all 3 of my children from newborn age and my older 2 have given them away both by 8 weeks old, with no intrest in ever having it again, I think dummies are fine aslong as they still dont have them constantly in their mouths at age 5 kwim, but used sparingly they can really help with settling, we were a little hesitant at using one to early but Lucy was a very sucky baby as were my other 2 and a dummy helped so so much with that want to suckle all the time, she spits it out now when she is alseep.
well I am going to head to bed now sounds like Lucy has drifted of nicely so I should be able to sleep until about 1:30 - 2:30am although having said that I can now hear Grace stiring poor thing I hope she gets well soon this has really knocked her for a 6. Peiter insisted he wanted to watch a movie so I put one on for him and went to check him and he was fast asleep LOL gotta love their enthusiasm for 'not' being tired hehehehe
okay well night everyone hope you all have good nights sleep.

Hey Everyone
I think Avaleigh might have reflux... I've had a read of a really good website and she is displaying a lot of the characteristics of reflux. So its off to see either a doctor or a paed this week and hopefully get all this sorted so she wont be in any more pain. If she does have reflux, it may just be mild so hopefully we will get it sorted so it doesnt get any worse..
Gee, what things to go through with a first baby!! Atleast I will know what to expect with my other babies..
