Hello to those of you i missed
Jas, thanks for going to the trouble with the list.
Mel, good news for Jack. Sounds like he is a fast little healer. Tell him to keep it up!
V, sorry to hear you're feeling blah. I guess at least it's a little stress off you though? Sounds like you've got your work cut out checking out all those toys. I'd like to go get organised for christmas but crowds irritate me so I'm too scared. LOL We bought Autie a ball popper for last christmas. They are a great distraction toy but be prepared to constantly chase balls around when they want to do it over and over. They really do fly everywhere.
Nicky, sorry it didn't happen for you this time. It's great you can be positive - that will help for sure.
Megan, how sad for your friend. It's a shame she won't talk but maybe she just needs some time to grieve privately. I have heard it's not good for other people to pretend it didn't happen if that helps at all Wow on Lucas getting a molar already!
Hi Jem, hope you got some decent rest in.
Sarah, wow, you must be shopped out! LOL I wish I were as organised. Bayleigh is really talking well by the sounds of it. We still only have mama and dada! Have you thought about a totally preservative/chemical free diet for Chloe? I have heard of some great results when these are cut out, and they are in so many things these days.
Em, for us lunch is whatever I can be bothered with. Vegies/Rafferty's mix, sandwich (hommus, vegemite, cream cheese, pumpkin, avocado), melted cheese on toast, mini meatballs, tuna patties, sushi if we're out.
Just remembering we have another jab coming up...
Today, Autie decided all of a sudden that she would walk to cousin and let her catch her (she's only doing 3 or 4 steps before collapsing on us). She's never voluntarily walked away from me before and I wasn't prepared for it. Her cousin did well to catch her and stay upright though - she's only 18m herself! LOL Then Autie wanted to keep doing it over and over. Luckily Evie found it amusing and went along with it. It was a cute moment for my SIL and I.
Since we are all talking toys atm, I'm wondering what toys in particular everyone's bub enjoys/gets the most use out of right now?
Nicky, sorry to hear about AF. Fingers crossed for you that this month is the month.
OMG Sarah, toys toys toys......... Where do you find the money to support that shopping fettish of yours. I wish I could go shopping like that. I love to shop, (what girls doesn't)!!!
V, did AF finally arrive?
Jas, did you test today?
Well Jack goes in for his skin graft tomorrow, so I'm all nervous for him. I just hope all goes well and we will be home by night. I was giving him lots of cuddles before bed tonight, and a tear stung my eye, I thought of what they will have to do tomorrow and it really hurt. I wish that he didn't have to go through this, I know it's for the best, but it still doesn't stop it from hurting so much.
Anyway, enough sulking from me, hopefully I'll be back tomorrow night.
Just quickly Sacha, Jack loves blocks ATM, the wooden kind. But I think that's more because of the noise they make when he smashes them on the wooden floors than building with them. He also enjoys playing with a little car steering wheel thing, that makes beeps, makes a police siren, blinkers that flash etc. And he loves his little Wiggles ride on bike thing. Although it causes a lot of fights between him and Charlize. lol. What toys does Autie like best?
Will be thinking of you and Jack tomorrow Mel. Everything will be fine I know you will be freaking out the whole time but I hope it's all over nice and quickly and you can have your gorgeous little man back in your arms asap.
Mel - you are not sulking! And even if you were, you are allowed to!! I really hope everything goes well for little Jack tomorrow. Huge to you!
Sacha - for Autie!! Oliver's favourite 'toy' is the tv remote. Drives me crazy, everytime I turn around he has it in his hand, pointing it at the tv, pressing the buttons. He also likes cars and the actual toy box itself. He takes all the toys out and climbs in it!! He is definetly in need of some new things to play with!! Oh and he loves books too, he has one with pictures of farm animals in it and particulary loves the page with the ducks on it. I just remembered tonight about the next lot of needles
Sarah - did you leave anything else for the other customers? Sounds like you had a good time shopping and your kids are going to love their presents! Sacha mentioned about the diet for your DD. My 9 year old DS is on an elimination diet at the moment due to behavioural problems. We have cut out all preservatives, additives, colours and some natural food chemicals. It is called the FAILSAFE diet. If you google Fed Up you will find lots more info about it. Worth a try!
Em - for lunch Oliver will either have grilled cheese on toast, soup with toast fingers, philly cheese s/w, avo s/w, mashed vegies s/w, noodles with grated cheese, banana s/w or sometimes a plate of cut up fruit, cheese and veg.
Sorry I know I have missed some of you but that's all I've got in me tonight. Hope you are all well. I'm off to brave the shops tomorrow for Oliver's birthday presents.
Sacha - Yes I can imagine the ball popper would have me running around after the balls.. Hmm no, Avaleigh is walking so she can do it - LOL! OH NO, I forgot about the 12 month jabs. i think I have jsut under 2 months with Avaleigh's cause we were a bit late with the first ones cause Avaleigh was sick.
Mel - NOPE AF did not arrive.. So not sure what is going on???? I put on a liner and it stayed cleaned. I didnt buy any HPT's cause I was sure it was coming.. I'll give it a few more days... I hope that Jack's skin graph goes good tomorrow - you and your family will be in my thoughts
I was having a bit of a read of the belly buddies due in july thread this morning and it just feels like yesterday we were all sitting here talking about the same stuff!! I can believe how quickly the past year has gone..
anyway, i gotta go.. still go dishes to do and still feel absolutely shocking. Going to have some panadol and go to bed so hopefully tomorrow i wake up better or even with AF.. please give me AF!!
Mel- Let us know how Jack went today when you get a chance to get back on here. I hope all went well
Nicky- That will be great to have a night out. Hope it cheers you up a bit
V- I hope Avaleigh doesn't have chickenpox Fingers crossed all the spots have disappeared by the morning.
Not much is happening with us. We are all still sick but getting a bit better each day. I went to Kmart today to the toy sale and laybyed a heap of Fisher Price "Little People" for Xmas!! I was pretty over it by the time I wandered around for a bit and got through layby. Oscar was also getting sooky We did a quick trip to Toys R Us too and I bought Oscar a little bike to ride around on inside!! I am going back Sunday I think minus Oscar so I can check some things out for his birthday The weekend will be pretty quiet for us which will be nice. DH is off to the local footy tomorrow with some mates so I am trying to convince him to take Oscar so I can have a bit of "me" time. I started Tony Ferguson today and am going well. I haven't had any cravings yet which is great! The shakes and soup is SOOOOOO yummy! I thought they would have been a bit bland because you have to mix them with water but I am REALLY looking forward to tomorrow's morning shake!! I have noticed a difference in my stomach already because it is not bloated like it normally is. So fingers crossed I can get my weight off and keep it off!!
Anyway, that is enough rambling from me! I'll be back over the weekend! Have a great night!
V, hope it's not the chicken pox! Poor Avaleigh Cross fingers for a better day tomorrow.
Mel, how is Jack? Must've been a trying day for you all. I bet it doesn't slow him down with his blocks and bike though! For some reason, Autie loves to put things around her neck like a scarf so she's enjoying Dan's belt, bits of ribbon, blankets (?) etc. She has had a fascination for balls since she could first reach for one and that hasn't gone away. And anything big enough to sit in LOL It's true that you can buy all the toys in the world and they'll still be interested in everyday items! Oh, and books.
Nicky, hope you are feeling a bit more up soon. How did your night go?
Dani, good on you for doing something for yourself. I have tried shake diets but I'm hopeless - I just love food too much! LOL Good luck and well done for making it to the sales. I'm still putting it off, though I look through the catalogues everyday...maybe I'll risk it next week. I'm want to layby the tricycle with the parent handle for christmas (anything to avoid bending over )
Hi everyone else. Hope you all have a cheery weekend
Hey everyone we are back from hospital. Jack's operation went great. They ended up grafting 2 fingers and the top part of his palm. We were only expecting the palm to be done, but when they looked at the wounds properely without Jack wriggling around they realised his fingers had full thickness 3rd degree burns as well. But they were really happy with how the procedure went. They were able to use his forearm as the donor site, which means only one dressing to look after and it will be more comfortable for Jack, so that is good. Jack has been a happy little boy all afternoon, which is fantastic. He is very clingy with me but that is understandable. It broke my heart to leave him in the theater room, so I was glad for him to want cuddles all afternoon. Actually he has been like this ever since the accident.
Anyway we don't have to go back until next thursday when they will check the sites, re-dress and re-splint for another week, then he will have a pressure glove customed made (we even get to choose the colours, how cool) and then hopefully his wounds will be healed enough to only need the glove and splint. Then maybe after another couple of weeks the splint can come off during the day and only be used at night time. The glove will probably be have used for 12+months, and it's likely he will need further skin grafts as his hand grows until he is 16 but I already knew that, and see it as a good thing, as it will ensure his hand has full mobility.
So it's going to be a long road but I'm glad that it has started well.
Thank you to all of you that have wish us well.
I'll BB tomorrow to read up on what happened today.
Mel - that's great news about Jack's operation going well. Even though I really only know everyone here by what they type, it always makes my heart feel bad when I hear of something going wrong or something bad happening to any of our babies, and it usually gets me the closest to praying for things to be okay if that makes any sense. I guess it's kind of like a sisterly fondness that I feel for us all.
Nicky - big for you, I'm sorry to hear about AF. Adam sounds like he's being very cute to you.
V - sorry to hear you had such a crap day. and here's hoping that Avaleigh doesn't have cp.
Sarah - OMG for your shopping!! I'm so impressed at your skills, I've looked at the sales for just 1 kid and found it almost impossible to get my head around all the choices, you have done a sensational job.
Dani - woo hoo for the start of weight loss. I hope that this morning's shake lived up to your expectations.
Sacha - yay for Autie's walking, it sounds so cute. I love watching how little kids react to each other, Liam usually just lights up with smiles & giggles, which is so adorable.
I'm hassling DF to get himself organised today so that we can go & get a trike for Liam's birthday from us. He's going to have a bit of a moment when he realises that the one I'd like to get doesn't quite cost $30...but I'm doing the upsell of the safety features & age appropriateness and the length of time it will be used, and the fact that it's for Liam Golden child, so I'll probably get my choice. I braved the Kmart sale for about 10 minutes and gathered a couple of things but then had to get out cos there were so many people and so many hyped up kids (thank you, school holidays), it wasn't my favourite experience. I do look at it with a certain degree of irony though, knowing that in just a few years (months?) time, that's going to be my child, so I'm not being judgemental, more OMG what have I got myself in for....
Other than that, we have no new tricks. Liam's decided that he's not interested in eating again, even things that have previously been okay. I know that these things are a phase, but sometimes it does my head in .
Mel - I'm so sorry Jack, you and the entire family have had to go through this. You are all very brave and it sounds like Jack is a trooper and you are a terrific mum!!
