I have worked out that if I can space Zyon's feeds out a bit longer than he tries to have booby (I demand feed, but he was feeding/snacking ever 2-3hours) that he will have a real long decent feed & sleep up to 5hrs which is LOOOOONg in this house with this bubba!

So last night we had dinner & I let him have a cry in the hammock whilst I shoveled my dinner in, then I talked & played with him abit til it had been 3.5 hours since last feed & then I fed him & he fed for ages with a really long hard suck & then he went to bed & woked at almost 1am.. so from 7pm, it's amazing how much fitter you feel when you get a long block of sleep!

Yay for a great feed and then sleep by Zyon. You are so right that it makes the biggest difference to how you feel the next day - I reckon not only physically but mentally you feel great!!

Beautiful weather here at the moment so I am going to go and eat my breakfast outside. Sorry for the lack of personals but my stomach is growling! BBL to say hi to everyone.

    Hi everyone

We had a good weekend. Diana has been very good and seems to be settling better and not bringing up as much milk either, which is a relief. She is due to be weighed tomorrow, so I hope that she is still putting on weight and growing properly and that her week of almost constant vomiting hasn't afftected her badly.

I breastfed in front of FIL yesterday. I was more nervous about that than about doing it in a public place! Don't know why. It went okay though, so all good (although it is making me nervous of when I finally have to breastfeed in front of my own father).

Diana is also learning to self settle. The other day she was crying and neither Stan nor I could pick her up for a few minutes, so she just stopped by herself and was perfectly content until one of us could come and attend to her. What a good and clever girl she is.

I have put some new photos up on her website. We looked at the proofs of her professional photo shoot on Friday and she came out looking so cute! It's a pity that the printing of the photos is soo expensive as we were only able to choose a few to be printed. We recieve them in about 6 weeks time, so I will see if I can scan one or something to put on the website.

Veronica - re DTD - Diana is 10 weeks old tomorrow and I still don't feel ready!!

Tracey - congratulations on Zyon's long sleep. I am trying to do the same with Diana, re spacing her feeds out more so that she feeds properly and then sleeps longer. So far she doesn't sleep through the night yet, but her sleeps are getting a bit longer.

    HI all,

Nicki, what a healthy boy you must have!! I'm sure he will do fine on his trip to wagga. You never know he might make it all the way there without needing to stop. Especially if he likes the car. Xavier loves the car, so long as it's moving

Jessikah, you poor thing. I feel bad 'cause I go mental when I have to get up once during the night and Xavier won't go back to sleep as soon as his finished eating, and then your doing most of the hard work by yourself, and I have nathan home every night. But don't stress Ethan will be ok with your mum for a few hours every week. Sometimes I think it's good too 'cause she will get a better feel for his little signs and be more help to you iykwim. eg: my mum has picked up on xaviers favorite position to be held faster than my mil has.

Veronica, yay on an outing. we are hoping to do that soon. So much so Nathan decided he would get me a book of movie tickets for my birthday. (half for him to use of course). did you need to leave any milk with your mum. Xavier has this terrible habit of thinking every time he wakes up it's dinner time. He would scream my mums house down if we didn't leave any milk and he woke up.
ON DTD, not going there for a while here, however someone told me (might have been live chat) that it can sometimes be like losing your virginity again, the first time after a bubs.

Tracey, yay on longer sleep. it sounds like things are getting better everyday for you. I have been trying to stretch Xaviers feeds out for a similar reason, and because sometimes I think he just thinks he's hungry and he's not really. But sometimes he is just in-consolable and I fold.

Jemima, I agree you do feel heaps better, even just getting a full 5 hours in a row. we got a sunday treat this week, and Xavier slept from 10pm-4am, fed and just fell right back to sleep at about 5.30am until get this 8.30am!! That was like a sleep in for us

Zofia, great to hear things are slowly progressing for you. It gives me renewed hope to see the 'future' if you will, and the fact your still going. Kinda makes me feel like I will survive. Lol on the feeding in front of your fil and your dad. I was a bit er um hm at first, but went aw screw it. I just wish my little man would give me a little more modesty. Just like a boy to leave my nipples hanging out for the world to see!!

    Home Sweet Home!!!

    Hi all.
I havent posted for a day or two, cause I have been feeling pretty bad. Kaetlyn has been so good, she is slepping right through the night now, and everyone is having trouble with that.
Aaron went back to work yesterday I took Kaetlyn to her first birthday party, and she was awake the whole time. Aaron came and visited at the party for a little while. Lol the first thing he did when he got there was come and see Kaetlyn and take her off me and show all his work friends!! (The party was one of his work friends daughters first birthday).

SHe is also going through a feeding frenzy at the moment. She was feeding every three hours yesterday- i am not sure if it was cause we were out she wasnt feeding as well as normal.

At the moment she is laying on the ground beside the computer asleep, I sat here while i was on the computer abd she was unsettled, so I layed her on the ground cause she likes to kick around heaps, and she went to sleep there.

Well am about to have a shower and go into the shops- to pick up heaps of photos that I got printed. Of and return some jeans i brought yesterday. LOL i got home and put them on again and they look aweful. Oh the jelly belly is discusting!!!!

Oh and DTD: we have successfully DTD (was at 4 weeks). And LMAO at Rebecca and saying it was like losing your virginity- thats what I had said to Aaron!!!!

    Hi Ladies

    Hope you are all well.

Well ethan has just gone off too sleep....again!! I went to check him about half an hour ago and i opened the door to his room and OMG i definately knew he had pooped, lol it smelt pretty bad, and it was all up his back and down his legs!! The grip tab on his nappy broke and he squirms alot in his sleep and that was the result so i had to wake him and off we went to enjoy a nice warm shower. Any way, now that he is asleep again i am going to attempt some personals.

SARA thats great that katelyn is sleeping right through now, its definately something im looking foward too!! Sounds like katelyn is a little party goer!! Lol @ Aaron taking katelyn from you and showing her off to the work mates. Its sad when our partners go back to work isn't it. Im with you on the disgusting jelly belly!! its gross, lol.

REBECCA ethan loves the car too but if we stop for too long we have to start searching for ear plugs!! We took ethan on a three hour drive to perth and once we got there he started to cry every time we got stuck at the traffic lights.

ZOFIA glad that diana is settling better and is not bringing up so much milk. I took your advice and when changing ethans clothes put a wrap over his tummy and he was okay, he doesn't mind me changing just his nappy now but still cries (better than the "mums mudering me" scream!!) when everything needs changing.
Its great when bubs self settle isn't it, ethan will do it occasionally, when he wakes up a night and its not feed time and he is not pain crying i leave him for a bit and sometimes he will go back to sleep otherwise i just have to go in and talk/sing to him and pat his bottom until he is close to falling asleep and then i leave the room and he goes off to sleep.

TRACEY well done to zyon on his big sleep i bet you feel better for it. Ethan was feeding like that when on the boob too and he feeds every 3 - 4hrs on formula, if he gets hungry between feeds i give him a little boiled water, as he cant have his feeds any less than 3hrs apart, even when he goes that little bit longer between he still doesn't seem to sleep any longer...one day!!

VERONICA Of course it doesn't make you a bad mum!! I wish i was able to leave ethan like that instead of ending up on the couch a blubbering mess, lol as long as you and jason enjoyed your time out together. Yay @ avaleigh sleeping in her bassinette now. I also tried DTD, and had to stop, was very uncomfortable and i have not quite healed yet either, im not planning on DTD again anytime soon!!

Well i have to cut this short as ethan is loudly demanding some attention lol!!
Sorry to you ladies i have not got too will try to do some better personals next time. Oh and im hoping to get my birth story on here by the end of today

*edited* Just popped back to let you know that i have finally posted my birth story!!

    Jessikah.

    Hi Mums,

having a bit of an exhausting day today. Liam decided to be a bit restless last night & again this morning, and hasn't really wanted to sleep for very long. I normally get at least a couple of hours after a feed, but this morning I was lucky if I got an hour - which for those of you who've got less sleepy babies you're probably going "yeah..and??..", but I'm not used to these shorter times I guess, & I feel like all I've been doing is feeding & feeding. And changing. And my left bosom is feeling really quite bruised, which is starting to get me a bit worried, cos not sure how to fix it. I suspect that maybe I've got a blocked duct, or the start of one, but he's having really good, long feeds off it, so don't really understand why/how it could be blocked. This is on top of the slight cracking that I've got on this side, so left side feeds not currently my favourite activity.

Pat started a new job today in the city, so no more slack half days & drop by visits when he's between sites It's weird, but I'm quite sure that Liam misses his Dad and notices that he's not around, cos he seems to settle better when Pat's in the house. I also think that he's going to smile at Pat first (we're still waiting for a definite smile), which is cute, but I think I'll be jealous, cos I'm the one that does most of the hard work, and certainly I'm the one that does the things that make him cry (washing his face is a particularly good one!), so it would be nice to get a reward. All in good time I suppose.

Am very jealous of all you girls who are getting good overnight sleeps. Ours aren't bad, but still nothing longer than 4 hours for the most part. And there's no self settling - if he's not asleep in my arms first, then he won't go down. I'm being a bit soft when it comes to this, was going to try to be a bit firmer about putting him down when he got to 4 weeks, but am thinking I'll let him grow up a little bit longer before I start to really try, cos I just adore the cuddles I get when he's sleepy. And once he's down he mostly stays there, so can't really complain I guess.
Anyway, here comes the food call, so better go. Sorry about no personals, will try to get some in next time.

    Afternoon all,

Sara, you lucky thing with all night sleeping. Xavier feeds constantly during the day and 1 or 2 times over night.

Jessikah, love the birth story!!! We have the same problem with traffic lights. My mum drove us home this arvo, and Xavier wasn't happy 'cause he'd been woken when I strapped him in. my mum turned up the radio to drown him out a little.
    "mums mudering me" scream!!
he he, I've heard that scream at my house. It really is quite blood curdling.

Jan your nights sound a bit like mine, only waking a little, and yet it is still kind of hard, but then you almost feel guilty when you vent a little 'cause you know just how much harder others are doing. EG: after being awake for 1.5 hours last night I was just saying to xavier, I don't know what you want me to do, could you please just go to sleep, and then I think of those that are up all night with screaming. Could it be easier do you think to comfort a bubs that is clearly in discomfort, rather than one that doesn't know what he wants and then kicks punches and scratches you with those paper thin razor sharp fingernails.

Well whatever happens at night, I leave it in the previous day and we start a fresh each morning.
Today I put his aeroplane mobile above his change table, and I had a very happy and intrigued baby when I changed him. I rekon we almost got a smile.

Well hopefully last night was my bad night, and we will have another good night tonight.

    Wishing good sleep to all

Hey everyone, just a quicky very tired women typing here Have been up since 3am, Jack tummy has been causing him alot of grief lately. But it may be able to get better soon. My doctor seems to think he is lactose intolerant. She became sus at the appointment to get his needles as he had another pooy nappy. I told her that I had only ever changed one nappy that didn't have poo in it. She asked if they were ever froffy and smelt sweet and told her that nearly all the time they were like this. So I have to get a stool sample to be tested which is alot harder than I first thought.
Anyway so as much as it's not good to be lactose intolerant at least we will be able to look at getting him better.
    Sorry for the selfish post.
Hopefully will be able to post again soon for some personals.
    Take care.

    Hey everyone!!

I got a moment to myself - Avaleigh is asleep YAY! The past few days have been really really good now that I have her colic and reflux under control. She is currently asleep, normally at this time we have a crying and screaming baby but not today! I have been awake since 6am tho She woke up for a feed then and I thought that there is no point in going back to sleep, so I have had a shower and breakfast and wanted to go for a walk until I looked outside and it looks like it is going to rain!! I cant wait for winter to go away and summer to be here but I am not looking forward to the 40 degree days!

I'm joining back up at my gym today. I cant wait to get back in to it all!! I feel ready to start, hopefully they will let me start this week but I might need to wait until after my 6wk checkup, not sure what their policy there is so we will wait and see. I wonder how unfit I am going to be...

Mel - *hugs* you seen to be getting everything with little Jack! How different is he compare to Charlie?

Jan - restless nights are hard arent they?? My nights are getting better, not much screaming going on. Avaleigh manages to sleep in her bed until our midnight or early morning feed but then gets really unsettled cause she cant bring her wind up, so I end up sleep with her on the couch. Its funny, I didnt even imagine that for the first 5 weeks of her life I would be sleep on the couch! I went to a work leaving-do on Friday - two more guys left!! Now there is absoluletly no one in the install team!! HAHA I wonder if the place is going to shut down? There are only 6 people working in that office now!!

Jessikah - you gotta love when they poop all over themselves!! LOL Yesterday I changed Avaleigh out of her pj's (well bonds wondersuit - I call that her pj's!) and put her down and the next thing I know I have to change ALL her clothes cause she pooped all over herself.

Sara - I hear you on the jelly belly - ewwwwwwers! I need some new jeans cause I am still wearing my maternity jeans with a belt but I just cant bring myself to buying a bigger size!

Zofia - yay for Diana being able to settle herself!! I havent b/f out in public yet, I am trying to avoid doing that partly because I b/f Avaleigh laying down to help with her not getting her colic angry again.

Hello to everyone else - better go cause my lil one is stirring and will probably be awake soon.

    Hi All,

Veronica - well done on Avaleigh sleeping. You've had a hard time but it seems you are getting things undercontrol - well done! I would love to start exercising but am waiting for my 6 wk check up. Coz I had a c-section I think it is best I wait till then coz I know my insides may still me mending but I do feel I could exercise.

Mel - hope you get a diagnosis soon. If Jack is lactose intolerant does that mean you go to a special formula?

Kungfubecca - the mobile above the change table sounds like a good idea.

Jan - Georgie over night won't go over 4 hours between feeds either, during the day she will only go 3 hours. But thankfully at night she will generally settle straight away (apart from last night 1 feed she took a bit of settling).

For me, had appointment with MCHN yesterday, in the past 2 wks Georgie has put on 660gms so now she is 3440gms. She is finally getting to the average size babies are born but so pleased she is putting heaps of weight. It feels great knowing my milk is doing that.

Georgie will only sleep with her head facing 1 direction and even when she is asleep we try to turn her head to the other direction but it won't go the full way and she turns it straight back so as a result her head is quite flat on the right side so MCHN has said we should get it looked at. We are either going to a paed physio or a chiro that specialises in kids. The physio is free so hopefully we can get in quickly (MCHN talking to physio today to see what the wait time is) but if we have to wait too long I'm going to take her to the chiro (which I will have to pay for but want to get this sorted quickly).

Georgie has also grown out of some of the 0000 wondersuits so that is quite exciting. All the other 0000 clothing is still quite big but it was quite exciting going for us to actually fit into some 000 clothing.

    Hope everyone had good nights.

Morning/Afternoon everyone! Just quickly sticking my head in to say hi! I hope you're all going well - Alessia has been feeding more often lately so I feel like I constantly have my boobs out all the time! *lol* We have an appt with the MCHN this afternoon b/c at last week's appt, it looked as if Alessia had lost some weight (compared to the day before when she was weighed at the breastfeeding clinic). The MCHN thought it could be either b/c I stopped feeding her by bottle/syringe/cup or possibly b/c of a different set of scales. Fingers crossed my little one has put on some weight, b/c if she hasn't, I'm afraid they are going to force me to do comp feeds.

Anyways gotta go, it's bath time!

    Hi all,

it sounds like a good day for most so far.

Mel my niece was put on lactose free formula when she was little. (she manages cows milk fine now) but the good news is, my sis found if you qualify for a health care card and you can get your doc to prescribe the lactose free stuff, it is really cheap. I think it ended up costing her somewhere around $5 per tin as opposed the the usual $20 not 100% on that 'cause I don't buy formula and don't know exactly how much it is.

Fingers crossed you get an answer though. Question, even though the heaps of poo, sweet smelling and frothy, has it caused him pain the entire time, or has it just started up recently?

    Hey everyone,
I have managed to get a poo sample from Jack so should hopefully have some answers soon.

Rebecca, if it is lactose intolerance hopefully we'll still be able to b/f. My doc said there are drops called lactaid drops that give the lactise required by baby to break down lactose. So fingers crossed with me on soy products and cutting out all sugar and him on these we should be o.k to continue b/f, she did say though sometimes some babies do need to go onto a lactose free formula. Abount the poos and pains, he has always had both right from birth. I thought he had colic but didn't seem to be getting better, and most times with infant colic they should be starting to improve by his age or so my doc says. And the poos I thought were just from being a booby baby, but the froffy sweet ones aren't normal and she said that is what leads her to believe its lactose intolerance. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the info on the formula though.

Bridee, like I said to Rebecca hopefully Jack won't have to go onto foormula. yey n the big weight gain too.

Veronica, so happy for you that Avaleigh is starting to improve. My two kids are alot different. Charlee was a good sleeper during the day, but it wad 5 months down the track before she started to sllep through. Jack is the opposite he sleeps well during the night just doesn't at all during the dau unless he is being held. And charlee never had any pain problems. So alot different. Maybe if we had one more, I would get the best of both worlds

BTW ladies, we have accepted a contract on our house so fingers crossed in 2 weeks it goes unconditional. Oh and too Jack is no 5.9kg and 61cms long. That puts him inthe 75%th for weight and 90% for length.

    Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to pop in to see how your all doing. Was hoping to do some personals but it has been real crazy around here this morning and i have to go out in an hour!! Ethan woke at 6am for a feed after waking every 1/2 hr for 3hrs crying, why i dont know....he was fed, no wind (thanks to infants friend) nappy was dry, comfy clothes, not too hot or cold, and it wasn't from his reflux!! Any way i fed him at 6 and he has not gone back to sleep till now (10 mins ago) he has just cried and screamed even when im holding him, after 3hrs of this we were crying together!! I wish Dh was here...not that he is very involved when he is home but just for someone to talk to, help keep me sane!! I ended up putting the music on...pretty loud and walking up and down the hallway singing and talking to him and he finally gave in and went to sleep, now im too scared to put him down incase he wakes up and we have the same thing for another 6 hrs!! I feel so bad for getting frustrated and stuff but its hard and today im really struggling with doing it all on my own. Well i really must try to go for a shower.

Sorry about the selfish post and for venting.

Hope your having nice days and Hugs to you all.

So sorry to hear your having a tough time ATM. Just out of curiosity do you wrap Ethan up tight? I know this makes a huge difference with both my kids. My eldest was wrapped until she was 7 months old, she loved it.
I wish I could give you a hug at tell you personally your doing a wonderful job. Everyone has bad days as well as good ones. I know how hard it is sometimes, I ended up outside with Jack the other day, while I let my 14 month old scream in her room. I just couldn't deal with her any longer. Then the next day she was as good as could be. But that might be another idea, maybe a venture outside for a walk, might help the both of you, does wonders for me. Anyway sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I hope and I'm sure things will get better soon.

    arvo ladies,

Mel sorry to hear that he's had the tummy pains for a while now. Great news that there is something available so you can still feed. I think with my sis, by the time they worked out the lactose problem she'd become disheartened try to feed for so long that she couldn't do it any longer.
I was worried Xavier would end up having an adverse effect from milk 'cause it didn't sit well with me or my sisters and both nieces had trouble. I think the lucky boy got dad's genes there. I swear Nathan is an anomaly and can handle huge amounts of lactose no probs.

Jessikah, please don't apologise for needing to vent. When I read your post I was wishing that you were closer so I could offer what little help I could. Did you consider calling your mum. Ethan might not be settling because he can smell you. Sometimes you just need to hand them to someone else so you don't go insane.
Maybe what mel suggested a nice walk? does he like the pram, Xavier goes to sleep in his, so I know it's a sure fire way to make him sleep.

    Hi ladies

Well unfortunatley things have not improved since this morning, Ethan is still really unsettled, atm he is asleep in my arms, he is still only cat napping for 1/2 an hour before he wakes up screaming, i know that its a pain cry and i wish he could say where he hurts, i got some panadol for him today and i will give him some with his next feed and then try to put him in his bed, i sort of think its going to be a long night though. And the self settling has gone right out the window today lol, he was doing so well!!

Mel- Ethan really only likes to be wrapped when he feels like it, unfortunately today he doesn't feel like it!! I tried to take him for a walk this afternoon....i only made it to the end of my street and i had to turn back as two horrible women had me in tears (details in punching bag room), so we came home and tried a bath instead. Of everything i have tried today the pacing the hallway with the music going real loud worked the best, but may not be a good idea all night long, he he the neighbours would kill me!!
Sorry to hear about jacks tummy problems, yay for the poo sample, I hope you do get some answers real soon.

Bec- I didn't even think of calling my mum to be honest, lol, i think i was to stressed to think clearly but she did turn up and said she could hear ethan from the car, he just kept screaming for her too and i was a mess by then, i really didnt know what else i could do, so mum put her foot down and she told me to go have a soak in the bath and she will watch him for a bit, i tried to tell her no its ok mum he is to unsettled and she just politely told me to shut up, accept her help and let ethan scream at someone else for 1/2 an hour she sent me to the bath with my mp3 player and told me to put the head phones in and turn it right up so i couldnt hear!! I only lasted 15 minutes but was enough to get my sanity back. Ethan likes his pram usually too, but atm i dont think he likes any thing or any one!!

Thankyou both for your kind words, it made me feel alot better.

Well i must go get organised for ethans next feed, and then head off to bed. (hopefully longer than 1/2 an hour)
