Hi all,
Fran, nice to see your still around. Cute pici too.
Megan, Xavier sometimes sticks his fingers too far and makes a few gagging noises. We have had a couple of laughs. but they are select. He laughs a little when I pretend to eat his neck, 'cause my hair tickles him.
Nicki, I hope your docs appt goes well. there were only about 5 couples from ours that turned up. I thought it would be less structured into groups and more just general mingling.
Star, good on you stick to your guns. Mum wanted me to invite a couple of people I never see to my wedding, so I let her put them on the list and then took them off later and said no, there is no room we need some more of Nathan's family. With the icing, can you use a different recipe. Or does it mean the liquid crisco? If so thats just vegetable oil and it is in the supermarket with the vegetable oil and has a blue label.
jan I think orange juice, tea and coffee are plenty to offer, after all you don't want soft drinks etc, because you would be wanting to be positive role models for the kids anyway. iykwim.
Besides it's not a restaurant  as my mum's voice fly's out of my mouth.
Sascha, I haven't used it yet, but the chemist pointed me towards a sunscreen called toddler invisible zinc. It's actually a 100% zinc cream so it is a barrier rather than a whole bunch of chemicals, bit on the expensive side though. oh and it's not your traditional thick sticky zinc, it's a bit smoother. Insect replant would probably be a bit harder. If your at home, I would try growing a citronella bush, you could also take cuttings and hang them on the pram. Best best is probably have bubs in a pram with a cover on it when your out and about, but I know that can be very impractical.
Xavier has awake time between around 6 and 8ish, when he then has a bit of a top up feed and goes to sleep.
I always express after Xavier has gone to bed each night because I know I have the most time in between feeds. I try to wait 2 hours after he has gone to bed, so around 10pm. I express for the sole purpose of keeping supply going so that my body knows it needs to do it every night, so as much as my boobs will give up  I also use it as a time to massage as a preventative to blocked ducts, 'cause sometimes Xavier plays funny buggers during the day.
Veronica, I hope your feeling a little better. Fingers crossed it goes quickly and avaleigh will be fine. You know many people have ended up with accidental surprises even when being carefull ;) Tracey beat me to the preggers question.
Well today we had our first Docs appointment for something other than the I'm a new baby check ups. Xavier has been raspy for a while, but he was fine so I let it be and then yesterday he woke up with quite a cough, and he coughed lots last night too,and was all snotty this morning. so we went to the doc, and it is just a cold, but I could think of nothing worse than if I was wrong and it became more than a cold. But all is good.
Well better go back to him, and pay some attention. The TV only works for so long.
Rebecca- the first cold is quite stressful and dont be suprised if the cough lasts a few weeks! I took Lucas to the doc's about 3 times cos i was worried about a chest infection but it finally went away. Lucas started waking for a night feed too as he was taking bugger all during the day cos i think he couldn't breathe properly...fun and games. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you!
Anyone else on facebook? I'm trying to organise it but i cant even find a decent photo of myself!!
im starting to feel a little better. I had a small nap on the couch and Jason changed Avaleigh and I have just fed her. Looks like what I had was maybe a 6 hr bug??? I am still going to take it easy today and tomorrow and not go to the gym. What am I going to do with myself tho!! There are a heap of things I need to do at home, i've even written myself a list!! LOL
Megan - I have facebook. Its not as addictive now as what it was when I first got on. You can add me if you want.. Veronica Vlodarski or vvlodars@bigpond.net.au
OOOh Zyons realised we come a running in to check on him when he coughs, didnt take hhim long... He now coughs just for fun!!! Then laughs coz we say "You Ok little man!
wow - i feel like i've been gone forever - this may take me a bit to catch up - i might have to try later tonight when michael nods off
Good to see you all again .... lol so to speak

Thanks everyone for your answers. I was thinking I should try putting Autumn to bed later (currently it's 6.30) as she doesn't sleep through, or even for longer than 4 hours at a time most nights (though she used to) but after tonight I realised she knows the routine so well - bath 5.30, feed while massaging, falls asleep by 6.30- that I would be struggling to keep her up any longer. And we've just added in story time before the bath - I lie on my back next to her and she *loves* it, I can read 4 or 5 books without losing her attention. I am jealous of all those of you who have your bundles sleeping for long stretches though.
Re: Coughs and colds - I haven't tried it myself yet, but I did hear recently that the soles of the feet are great for absorbing any medications and that if you rub Vicks or an alternative into their feet and put socks on at bedtime, it will do astounding things for coughs and colds.
Em - thanks, I like that photo too, she rarely smiles in photos because she's too curious about the camera. About the wrapping, I haven't fully wrapped Autumn since she was very young as she was Houdini with her hands, now I use a grobag or just wrap the legs which I find are both strong cues for her to sleep. She did startle a lot initially, but I've noticed that even when it does happen now, she seems to sleep through it most times. Also, I side-slept her when I stopped wrapping so that probably helped to contain the startle a little. Good luck!
Hey Everyone,
Wow what a hectic last few days we have had.
Can't talk too long we still have a bit to do before we call it a night. The move went pretty well, was only sick twice on moving day, so all was good. It was funny DH made me take a pregnancy test, to reassure him this merina thing works, but that another story for later. We have nearly all settled in. I have to head off tomorrow and get some new things for the house, like outdoor setting, entertainment unit, t.v., bed & matresses, but most of the unpacking is done apart from a couple of bedroom boxes.
Had the internet come back on today, and I can tell you what, I have had bad BB withdrawels. Will have to get back on tomorrow or the next day and read back what I have missed.
Just thought I pop in quickly to say hi, like I said BBL.
MWA!!!c
Hi Ladies
Well this is only a super quick one as i thought i would get a chance to catch up while ethan was sleeping but he is awake already (napped for 30mins)!! and i only just finished reading everything! it has been busy in here :)
Gotta Run....Ethans getting angry!
BBL (maybe)
Hi all,
Well my little man might have a cold, but he slept like a champion last night. 11.5 hours, exactly what a sick little boy needs. It might help that we have angled his bed, so he can breath. I woke at 6.30 am and had to go check on him.
Veronica, have you ever rested in your life  You can't sit still. Slow down women.
Tracey LOL cheeky little man you have.
FYI, I have been told that never should vicks touch the skin of a baby. The jar even says not to use on children under 2. I was told you could put a little on their singlet, or put some on a cloth like a hankey on their bed, then cover it with a cloth nappy or something because Vicks burns baby skin. (I did hear someone mention baby vicks before, but I've never seen it so i don't know how it is different from regular vicks)
With the unwrapping, it isn't necessarily a bad thing if bubs startle themselves awake initially. It might mean a few nights with you helping them settle back down, but I'm sure it would aid in learning to self settle during the night.
Mel  you have made me laugh. Pregnancy test, little concerned was he :lol; little jealous though, I'd love to go shopping for all that stuff, how much fun would a little retail therapy be.
jessikah, that happens to me all the time, although I have started posting as I read. Sometimes i have 2 windows open, one for reading one for posting. Yet sometimes I still do't get through all the posts before Xavier wakes. And if he's only in a light sleep, my typing wakes him up, as my keyboard is a little old, and a little loud.
Rebecca - Not that you would wish him to be sick but i am glad Xavier and the rest of the family got to have a good night sleep!
Oops the little bugger just woke up...1 and a half hours for the morning sleep which is pretty unheard of so i can't complain
BBL
Thanks for pointing that out Rebecca, it was wrong of me to assume people would know I wasn't speaking of normal vicks in the case of babies. I don't know how baby vicks is different either as I have never used either kind but I do know of people with young babies who use it and swear by it. There is also one called Euky Bearub. Your chemist should know the ins and outs of them all, if you decide to try it.
I think in the Bounty bags we got Baby Balsam which is like Vicks (I think) never used either myself, a squirt of breastmilk up his nose usually clears it all out!!! Hmm, should get it on Video for his 21st!!!!
Well I just realised that this is about the time last year, that we all conceived our little bubbas.. wow how its gone so fast:)
Lach has reflux.:( Doc just wont give him anything:(
So I am trying my hardest to continue with bfing, but we'll see how long it lasts.
My last 2 weeks have been hell. I feel like such a failure at the moment:(
I know I havent said exactly what hes been doing, but when I get a spare 30mins, I will come in and explain what has been happening.
ON the plus side, most nights we are gettting about 9 hours sleep out of him.
hopefully I'll be back later, he's woken up for a play:)
Hi all
so much goes on in here when you arent around for a day or so!!
Well DH just arrived home - thank goodness!! As I have said in earlier posts I have found life to be crazy when he is away - so full on doing everything for three children on my own. At least when he is home he is the most wonderful help. A lot of my stresses when he is away is from mental exhaustion I think - I mean physically it is full on but mentally not having someone else around is so tiring. I dont like to complain but it does help to get it out of the system!! But its ALL GOOD!!
I havent had a proper chance to read back on everyones post in grat detail so I will try and do that.
Nicky - I did read your post and sorry to hear Lach has reflux - although in saying that at least you definitely know what has been unsettling him now. Why wont the Dr put him on meds? I read a thread in here a while ago re some magic refulx/colic medication that you can get from Perth - Caro started the thread I think - might be worth looking at???
Mel - glad to hear you are feeling better and hehehehe at DH making you doa preg test? How does it feel to finally be in your new house?
V - are you feeling better yet?
Bec - I know I have said it before but wow Xavier is the best sleeper - even when sick. Ihope he is on the mend.
Tracey - too cute of Zyon with his coughing to get attention. They soon become very very knowing dont they!!
Fran - great to hear from you - sounds liek things are going pretty well for yo and Alessia.
Megan - Woohoo for a 1 1/2 hour sleep. Lets hope you get one of those this afternoon as well!!
Sacha - thats so cute that Autumn loves being read to. We have read to all three children from birth - both Oliver and Jesse LOVE books and can recite their fave bits and he is starting to pick out words (well Oliver can) so there is definitely truth to the theory that reading to them from birth promotes an interest in words/speech/books etc.
Well thats it from me for now. We have a Xmas show to go to on the weekend - the crazy period starts from now on! How frightening/exciting to think Xmas is nearly here! I have done most of my Xmas shopping for the kids as well as a few others so I am hoping that for once I can be a bit more organised rather than trying to shop at the last minute EEKKKK!!
Take care
Jem
Hi Everyone, Just a quickie from me.
We have had a terible time of late getting Kaetlyn to sleep at night and also at day time. Now she pickes this time to have a major sleep during the day when we are ment to be leaving to go out to dinner for SIL birthday. :wall: I am tossing up wether to be late or feed her!!!! Aaron says to wake her.
We brought the pinky book, sleeping like a baby, and I have only read snippets so far and it has helped- i read that TV over stimulates them, so no tv on here today, and also that sometimes when theyare bored it sounds like they are tired and can bbe hard to differentiate them, so they have both helped today.
Well she has woken- with the help of aaron! so better feed the darling and then dgo to dinner!!!!
xoxox
Sara
BBL for [personals I promise!!!!!!
Sara - i agree with the bored/tired thing! Usually when Lucas cracks it on his playmat (which is in front of the tv..whoops!) i take him into another play area in the other living room and put him down to see if he still cracks it, or has another play, then i know if he was actually tired!! Has worked for me anyway! Let us know if you get any other big tips from the book!
Just something i read in the contented little baby book is that she thinks there are two reasons babies become early wakers i.e. 5-6am (when they should no longer be hungry) - nursery not dark enough and what you do when you feed them at this time - its suggested to make any feed before 7am like a night feed, dark & quiet to avoid them thinking in the long run that this is the time we start the day......anyway they are my tips for the day!!
:wall::wall::wall::wall::wall: Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!!!!! Just when I think I have the sleep thing sorted out, she changes her mind! I wish she'd just decide what she wants/needs to go to sleep and stay asleep and stick with it for longer than 3 days! It's doing my head in!
('Scuse the rant)
Sacha have you got the Sounds for Silence CD? Works a treat for Lucas.
Jem i'm glad Dh is home, i seriously do not know how you do it...you need a cape with SW on it!!
Sacha as Megan said the Sounds for Silence CD is GREAT. We used it heaps for Jesse who was very very unsettled as a baby. It uses white noise/environmental noise (there are also some musical tracks) and it worked a treat for us. There is a website you can check for further info if you google the name but I would highly recommend it.
Megan - yes I am so happy that DH is home - yippee!! I am right in saying that you said your DH works away as well (I hope I got that right)??
Nope he actually works around the corner and is home for lunch most days so i am very lucky!! The SW is for Super Woman!
Whoops - I know there are a few of us whose husbands work away! We are all deserve the SW tag whether it be one, two, three or more children!! With the Sounds for SIlence Cd do you use one particular track to settle lucas or does he settle to any of them? Jesse settled the best to one particular track - I think it was number 2 - we had it on repeat night after night!! I havent had to use it for Charlotte.
Thanks guys, I haven't tried it but I do play a continuous rain CD (no music) which even DH finds relaxing when he's home. She's woken 5 times since I put her to bed and she used to sleep until 1 or 2 before waking at all - I know they change, it's just frustrating is all. It may just be that DH left again on Tues and she got used to his snoring!
Sacha, I love the photo of Autumn!!! Has she got heaps of hair as well? Kaetlyn has a mega head full!!!
Kaetlyn went through a change with her sleeping about 3 weeks where she would scream whe we put her in her cot day or night, now what i have done for two night, and its worked both is:
* Read a story after her feed, in her sleeping bag,
*then we walk around the house and turn of the lights around the house that affect her room,
*then I gently rock her until she is nearly alseep, and I place her in her cot, with a hand on her chest for a couple of minutes, then I go backa while later and tuck her in the cot to try and stop her rolling around the cot (although it never works as I always find her in the mirning untucked and around the wrong way in the cot)!
However, I think i might get the CD everyone is talking about.
Hi Everyone
It’s so good to catch up properly, it seems I’m no longer getting email updates for our thread so have been missing you guys! It’s great to read up on how all the babies are progressing together, Lucas has been dribbling lots and sucking his hands, and yes he gags himself! You can see his all his bottom teeth. We are down to one feed a night now and I'm actually a bit tired from all the extra sleep!
Mel ~ what kind of safety gates did you get? I’ve got stairs here, one lot to the basement and another that leads out to the decking. Both very dangerous.
Janno ~ Glad you have been having nice sleeps! Sounds like Liam is getting what he needs at feed, I’m sure you’d hear about it if he wasn’t. Good on your for taking his lead and being a relaxed mumma.
Blue ~ I put Lucas in his cot for day sleeps if he is really tired. He sleeps for longer or will just play until he falls asleep. It’s good to know he’s safe while in there and I've been enjoying the extra time to catch up on things.
V ~ Since daylight savings bedtime has been an hour later, so closer to 8pm than 7pm which has become a bit too early for him. What time do you feed Avaleigh before the 9 / 10pm feed? Maybe you could juggle her feeds so her bedtime feed is earlier, and get those solid hours of sleep into her nighttime. The same thing happened with us and Lucas and I just had to change his feeds a little. Hope you are ok still too!
Fran ~ I love Alessia’s beautiful big eyes! She is such a beautiful little girl!!
Megan ~ I don’t think I could handle my MIL taking off with Lucas. I know he would be fine but she is usually so excited to see him that she bounces him up and down and rocks him back and forth really hard. Not handy when she visits at 5pm so I’m a bit iffy when she him all to herself, but I try not to be like that!
Squishee ~ Good to here you are still BF, I really admire you for it sticking with it this long as I know you’ve had your ups and downs. I read the post Jem told you about too, its from a chemist and is a secret family recipe. You and Lach shouldnt have to suffer so I'd get another opinion if your current dr wont help.
Jas ~ About dummies, Lucas had one in hospital. We couldn’t BF for the first 10 days so it was a lifesaver, but now I find I’m giving it to him more than he wants it so it would be interesting to see what would happen if I took it away or used it only at night.
Sacha ~ Sounds like Autumn had a great time, she is such a cutie! Expressing after each feed is a good way to go, you just pick the time of day. After the first morning feed is best though when you have the most milk.
Becca ~ Hope Xavier is feeling better and he doesn’t get too sick,
Bens Mum Mel ~ I’ve been there too as Lucas was a 2-3 hour baby, it does get better so hang in there.
Tracey ~ Lol about the video! I’ve taken photos of Lucas’ hairy ears! You’d think it would have rubbed off by now but nope it’s still there so I’ve taken the pics incase he doesn’t believe us.
Jem ~ OMG DP’s family don’t do xmas but they celebrate in a few weeks on their anniversary. I’m so snowed under getting gifts for that I haven’t even thought about xmas yet!!
Well I better go and get back to bed! *big love to all*
August xx
SQUISHEE, In regards to reflux go to the Chemist & buy some infant reflux sachets, I just said my GP had siggested we try it, it gave Zyon instant relief!
I just mixed it in a bottle with boiled water & gave it after a feed, just a little bit of water, but more than the sachet said!
He then also went on to zantac (we left a full bottle in Bali, which we'd taken with us & not used much & have an almost full bottle here!) As his reflux seemed to go whilst we were in bali , I personally believe the elimination of dairy from my diet & carrying him in the HAB every day in bali (there's no seatbelt rule in bali so Zyon was in the HAB on me in the Passengers seat, infact on numerous occasions I was breast feeding as we were driving!) So he was in the HAB often & I believe once the dairy was out of my system & he was upright much more that the scar in his oesaphagus could heal & now he is fine, I have slowly started some dairy (like in my cups of tea & he's still fine!)
So I'd say carry him upright in a sling as often as you can & also if you are breastfeeding & want to continue then r4emove all dairy from your diet (Take calcium tabs though!) it may take 2-3wks for the dairy to be gone but it's worth a try as the 2 bottles of formula I forcibly gave Zyon had no benefit in his reflux!~
Good Luck....
Nicky - Tom also has reflux and is on Losec but i definately agree with what Tracey said about dairy. I noticed that even if i had a glass of milo, Tom spewed heaps that day. Are you able to see another doctor or ask your current doctor for a referal to see a paedetrition? My original doctor told me that Tom was just constipated.. I eventually found a doctor who is definately going to be our family doctor now and he was excellent. He even rang me at home to see how Tom was going. We have had some success with taking Tom to a chiropractor - he definately doesnt vomit as much after a session - and we use Infant Gaviscon on really bad days. I supplement fed Tom with formula and the best one i have found is NAN HA. He seems to be able to keep that down the easiest. Hope you are able to sort everything out soon, because it is just horrible for little bubs (and their mummies too!) :hugs:
Well, i gave the not wrapping Tom a go... Didnt work well!
He was struggling so hard against being put in the wrap that i gave up and put him in his sleeping bag and put him to bed. He lay there screaming with his arms by his side, so i re-wrapped him - then he started struggling to get at his hands, still crying, so i unwrapped just his arms. You guessed it - lay there screaming with his arms by his side! Re-wrapped him - out like a light. Very strange. I might put him to bed wrapped and loosen it in his sleep. Maybe..
Goodluck to all the mummies with sleeping trouble. We use the PeaceBaby cd for Tom - not sure if it works but too scared not to put it on incase thats the thing keeping him asleep! At least it is nice music to hear thru the monitor. I was thinking of getting the Pinky book because just when you think everything is going fine - everything changes. I do the book ordering for my work and noticed that Pinky has a new book coming out in Feb about toddlers. Will have to buy that one for future reference!
Jem - we use number 4 for lucas - he loves the sound of water and this is a bit similar. If he is really crying all we have to do is turn a tap on and he stops! Not good during water restrictions!!!
Sacha - the rain CD proabably has the same sort of effect. Do you play it all night on repeat? They change all the time so hopefully this is just a LITTLE stage and she is ok in the next few days. Maybe try to pick her up as little as possible when she wakes?
Autumn - What are you doing on BB at that hour! I am glad your Lucas is going well!
All is good with Lucas. At home he is being an angel but i feel like no-one ever gets to see him happy or have a good cuddle as he has a bit of a social phobia! Already seems to have stranger anxiety! He is getting so excited by things lately i think his arms and legs are going to fly off!!
Em - i feel exactly the same about the CD we play for Lucas...no idea if he needs it on all night but i am not risking it!! Am a bit worrried he is too dependent on it though but really have no idea!
Good morning ladies!!
2 days without internet access, major withdrawals!! And so much to catch up on.
Mother's group at my place went well. We have a small house, so it was cosy, but it's a really nice group of girls. And as we've known each other now for about 2 months, we're really noticing the changes in the kids as they're all growing. 7 bubs in a room can make a lot of noise!!
Got a little bargain yesterday, which is big for me, cos I'm not the best bargain hunter in the world. I have wanted to get Liam a couple more toys, specifically the Lamaze soft toys cos I really like them and he does too. So I went to Big W (which has the best selection in the shopping centre I went to) and bought him a couple more. Then when I looked at the receipt, I realised that they were on special, because I only paid about $13 each, instead of $18 ($20+ in Myer!) so pretty happy with that. I love shopping for toys, I think I'm going to really enjoy the next few years of Christmas & birthdays. Now what we need is a toy box...
Anyway, better get off here, as I have a friend coming over for lunch, and the place needs a bit of a once over (again ...)
Will hopefully BBL to do some personals.
Jan- our mothers group has not started yet, and no idea when it will :wall:
Great work on the bargins!!! I like the lamaze toys as well, just so damn expensive!
MIL keeps laughing at my toy box- its a little cane basket next to KAetlyns play rug, and is really small, so she is getting FIL to make one for christmas. She was saying last night he has drawn up some plans.... and she said it looks like it will be a mansion, with a roof and chimney. By the sounds of it, its going to be huge! not sure where we are going to put it though???
Em- good luck with wrapping, not wrapping Tom! Luckily for us worked a treat, and haven't had any problems since.
Megan LOL at the arms flying off! Kaetlyn has a phobia of sleeping while we are out. I think she is scared that she will miss something. The child is to alert for her own good!
Why is it that i get an hour and a half one morning and then half an hour the next.....arrhhhh! Not good when we have to go out for lunch, here comes a cranky socially phobic baby!!
Hi there,
Thanks for the tips guys. I appreciate it.
I will endeavour to give them all a go.
I am planning on heading to the chemist today. I wear lach in a sling a fair bit... and usually have him upright in his bouncer if hes not there, I have raised the cot heaad, and our mattress head as he is still sleeping with us, and also raising the pram a little when he's in it.
I am taking motilium tabs to keep my supply up, adn ff when he refuses breast. He never has a prob with the bottle, he loves it.
He has been feeding not too bad of late, although I am ahving to give him a bottle of formula at least once a day.
This is what he has been doing for the last 7 weeks....
He wakes up crying for a feed... pretty normal.
I lay him on a pillow as I normally do the football hold due to the size of my enormous jugs, he already knows whats happening, turns to my breast and usually sucks on his own.
Now we had this down pat till he was 6 weeks old, then all of a sudden, he changed. He will now turn to the breast, suck, and pull off within 5 seconds, crying, arching his back, then go back on, suck a few more times, and pull off screaming, arching his back... 5 more second and sucks a few times, pulls off screaming, arching his back..... This will go on for around 15 mins.... I have to keep trying with him so he gets something....
Sometimes he will go back on and drnk no probs, finish the boob and be content. But this doesnt happen very often.
Ok the things I have tried...
Diff positions: Cradle hold, holding him completely upright, having him in the sling
In the bath.....
Ive tried infacol drops, in case of wind.
I keep the same feeding pillow, and use the same chair every time, to try and keep a routine.
I drink LOADS of water.
In the begining, I had a MEGA oversupply... so I would wait till the spray stopped, and then wack him on.
Now He still isnt sucking right, so my supply is dwindling big time.
So now for the motilium, along with breast pump.
I have seen my GP, 3 diff CHN's, called ABA, 2 lactation consultants.....
I'm at my wits end.
He takes a bottle so well. He has NO problems at all, doesnt whinge, doesnt pull on and off, Just sits there and sucks away.
So all this coupled with the big move we've had recently is why I am on the verge of a breakdown.
So, I am VERY close to giving up. I have heinz nurture formula that he has taken, and unless he has any probs on that one in the next week, then I'll stay with it. He seems to like it.
He seems to feed reasonably in the morning, only pulling off a few times, so while he will still bf half ok, and while i've still got the supply, I will continue to bf when I can. I offer breast EVERy feed... and always try to get him on for 15-20 mins before considering ff.
I am going to give it until next weekend... and if there is no improvement, then its straight onto formula. I cannot think of a good enough reason to struggle so much, and become very distressed, and in turn stressng Lach out, just to have BM when there is an alternative.
So, theres a quick run down. Unless u see him in action, you cant really tell how bad he is. When I saw a LC last friday, in tears, she said she can't beleive I have gone for so long with all this trouble. She said she would have swapped to formula ages ago.
Oh well, it's been a bit over 3 months, and they are the ones that really count....
I'm sure it will be easier next bub.
Anyway, I'm off to the chemist. Thanks again for ur advice girls. I'll let you know how I go:)
Nicky
Nicky - i have tears in my eyes as i read your post - he sounds so much like what Tom was like. You poor thing. You have done so well so far.
I forgot to mention,
Tuesday, when I went to GP, I had to have stitches cut out.
Yes thats right, my stitches still hadn't dissolved after 13 weeks!!!!!
well most of them had, but I had a few around my urethra as I had a small tear there, and they were the ones I had taken out...
This was more uncomfy than giving birth... I would have given birth a milion times over before going through this again.
I had fingers .. well.. U can imagine.
So I am not happy that it looks like the Doc that stitched me up, has used some non dissolvable stitches... next birth plan I will stipulate dissolvable ONLY!
I shouldnt complain, I had a great birthing experience.
But I am still having a few minor issues, possibly due to the long labour.
Heres hoping things get better for me from here!!!:)
Nicky, hun, do whatever you feel is right, happy Mummy = happy baby!
I cannot say whether it is silent reflux or not as Zyon was hysterical the whole time in between feeds as well, so I'm not sure if that's what it is or not!!!??? :dunno:
I just hope you get some answers soon, or if FF is what you choose then YAY to you for making the choice (as it is a difficult one) could you maybe express & feed him by bottle!??? If you wnated too? As he may happily feed again in a day, a week or a few wks time IYKWIM? It depends on whatever you want to do anyways, do whatever you want!!!!
Big Hugs darl, it can be all so difficult but also so rewarding hey!!! OUCH @ the stitches!!!
Nicky - what you describe Lachlan doing ( the pulling off etc) is what my nephew did when my sister didn't have enough milk and he wasn't getting anywhere for his efforts. It can also happen if it lets down too fast, but you know that I think. Of course, it may not be either of these for you but if it is the let down you could express the first part and then let him feed then have the rest in a bottle I guess. Whatever you decide to do, it's unreal that you've kept going and I agree with Tracey - whatever makes you both happy  My sister has continued to breastfeed my nephew the small amount that she has even though he is mostly on formula and he is 11m now - it's just for the closeness I think, but I'm inclined to think any bm is good :D Biiiiig 'Ouch' at the stitches - I know how that feels.
Sara - thanks, and yes she was born with a full head of einstein-like hair. She has a habit of pushing it forward at the sides when she's tired so now it won't lie flat, even if we comb it straight down when wet  LOL at Kaetlyn moving around in night - Autumn does the same and I know it's happening when I hear all this grunting coming from cot:)
August - thanks, I'm giving the after-feed express a go and so far I'm managing about 30ml a go which is better than I have ever done!
Megan - yeah I play it on repeat whenever she sleeps. We were up every 2hrs last night, but at least she's already had a couple of 40-60min naps today which is better than the last two days - I think it probably is just a stage as you say.
Jan - LOL yes i need a toy box too because I'm addicted to buying things for Autumn! It's retail therapy without the guilt because you can't deny your baby right?...
Nicky - that is EXACTLY what Lucas was doing! I was so fed up, it was so stressful and exhausting....nothing worked. I kept saying to myself, i'll give it another week....but once i finally just made the decision to ff i was SO much happier and so was lucas, it was the best decision i made. I only lasted 8 weeks so i can imagine what you are going through persisting but you have to figure out if it is worth it for your sanity. It is so hard because you spend so much of the day feeding, to go through it every few hours is just exhausting. The stitches experience sounds horrific!
Sacha- I wish i had some advice to help with the sleep! What is Autumn like when you go to her when she wakes up? Does she take long to settle?
Nicky, you poor thing. It does sound similiar to what Jack was like until we put him on some meds for his reflux. I remember reading back that your doc doesn't want to put him on meds? Was that you who said this? Forgive me I can't remember my poor brain, has been through heaps ATM. I was curious if it was, why? But I also agree with Sacha, it could also be because of milk supply. I know when my supply was dropping off for Charlee the further my pregnancy went along with Jack, the fussier she became at my boobs. I'm sorry your having a hard trot. But I reckon, do what ever you think will make it easier for the two of you. Exactly like what Tracey said, happy mum happy bub, and also happy DH. Take care, I hope whatever you decide, things start to pick up soon for you.
Hi to everyone else, I finally have some time to catch up. The last week has been so hectic, and I have missed so much on here. I hope not too much, I have read back a little but not all.
We have Jack's needles tomorrow. Can you believe today he is 4 months old. How quickly is it going!!!! I'm so curious to know how much he weighs is at now. I'm guessing he would be getting close to the 8kg mark. My guess is 7.8kg.
Anyway all is good in the new house. It is wonderful to have so much space and for Jack to have his own room and not the living room. He is still waking once during the night, but is just such a happy baby, I love him to bits. Charlee loves the new house too. She loves to play out on the back deck. I haven't let her loose in the yard yet, as I still haven't got that far in cleaning. I don't want to let her out there until I make sure it is safe and there is no nasties waiting for her.
Must be off, hopefully it won't be so long until I post again.
Take care all.
