Kristy - must be something in the air. Diana had a very unbsettled night last night too. She just cried and cried. At first I was worried as I thought she was hungry, but she wouldn't feed. I had a moment of panic where I thought that she had forgotten how to scu or something! But, no, turned out that she just wanted cuddles, so Stan spent most of the night rocking her, while I tried to get at least a bit of sleep so that I could be coherent at work this morning. So far, so good. I hope Jacksen's operation goes well. Hugs.
We have had a busy weekend. My mother came over to visit from NZ to meet Diana for the first time. It was really good. She bought lots of gifts too.
Diana is now starting to smile and she can also lift her head up when she lies on her front. The other day she also rolled over from her back to her front (although she was on a slightly uneven surface, so gravity may have helped).
Mel - wishing both you and Jack lots of cuddles for today! And I hope his magic juice comes in too!
Zofia - yay on Diana being spoilt by your mum. I hope you have a better night tonight and that Diana is feeding like a trooper again! I see she already has her daddy wrapped around her finger with midnight cuddles - lol!

Wow Relle - Angus is a little champ. How fantastic. Your "routine" is fairly similar to ours. Hope you back/pelvis is feeling better. I noticed you said Campbell has had grommits before - has they made any difference to him? The reason I ask is that we went to see a ENT specialist on Monday for Jesses ears - his are constantly infected - and he is recomending grommits. We havent made a decision yet as we want to find out a bit more about our options eg should we wait a while and see what happens .
Mel - we did have Tuesday with just Charlotte which was so divine!! We pottered about the house and caught up on bits and pieces and had a rest!! Love my Tuesdays. Has your magic potion arrived yet? Yes we generally feed Charlotte at roughly the same time each day. Like Relle we feed roughly every three hours during the day - sometimes it is a bit longer or shorter depending on how she is. At nighht the last feed is always 9.30pm and she is normally in bed by 10pm. She seems to have a bit of awake tie between 5ish and 7.30ish but is normally asleep when I feed her at 9.30 - she sees to feed quite well when half asleep. Its all a bit of trial and error isnt it until you get onto something that seems to work.
Me - got my hug a bub today. I really love it. I was going to get the black but really liked the navy with berry pocket. I took Charlotte for a walk in in this afternoon and she slept the entire time. It is really comfy to wear to I a glad I ended up getting one.
I had best run and go and eat some smarties and watch thank god you are here.

Well, to give an update on Seb - we are going to the MCHN on Thursday for his weighing and measuring - he's definitely put on weight cos he's such a porker!! His jaundice has nearly all gone (his eyes are still a little bit yellow), but his bruising from the vacuum has gone and all the scabs have fallen off, so his head looks normal now!!
He's feeding every 3-4 hours, sleeping pretty well in between but sometimes has some nasty lower wind pain which unsettles him, but a soak in the bath soothes him nicely.

Mel - hehehe yes maybe you should get your mini pill script filled JIC my dream comes true!! DH is going to get the snip but until then I should also go onto the mini pill after all my slackness at going on it last time got us into trouble!! But look how perfectly that turned out. How is Jack going today? Hope he hasnt been too bothered by the plastibell (sp). BTW - we are all your friends.

Me - Charlotte is still sleeping pretty well. I fed her at 9.30pm last night and then again at 3.15am and then again at 7am so I cant really complain. SHe is feeding well so fingers crossed it all continues. I was sorting through her clothes yesterday and putting them in the wardrobe and it is still weird seeing so much pink - good weird though!! I am going to buy a hug a bub sling today - I used a baby bjorn for O and J and am going to try the HAB this time - exciting!!

Well, the last 2 night Jack has been really unsettled, ending up with me bringing him into bed snuggled up to me. I'm beginning to get nervous that it will end up him wanting to be snuggled all the time. Fingers crossed this magic juice coming from WA arrives today. His circumsision went really well yesterday. The bell should drop off over the next couple of days. But the doc said we applied the numbing cream really well as he didn't flinch a bit, and now the foreskin is dead so, he shouldn't feel any discomfort at all
Anyway must be off, going to go shopping for puppy accessories today, my sisters and I are buying my mum a pup for her birthday and the bits to go with it. It's very exciting as it's the dog that we will get a pup out of. Can't wait for that.

Jem, it would be hard to get used to all of the pink stuff. Don't think I will ever have that problem! I keep meaning to get a hug a bub as well. There is a lady in Cairns that makes them for about half the price, I must get onto that!
Mel - I hope Jack starts to settle for you soon huni. We haven't circumcised any of the boys, not that we haven't thought about it, we just couldn't decide so we didn't. Have fun with the puppy shopping.

Well we had a rough night on Monday night, but he was a champion last night. I fed him at 10is, then he went down the best yet till 5am!!!!!! then a bit unsettled till 6.30 and back down and is still asleep now, just having to wake him! I think we need to keep him pretty much awake in between his last 2 feeds so he is not getting too much sleep too early, which is also pretty much the routine we used to have for both of the boys as well.
I am going to have to go to a GP or something, cause I am pretty sure I have done something to my back and pelvic area. I think I may have osteoitis pubis, as it sounds very similar to my sister. Getting out of bed is still excruciating, but when I was pregnant just thought it was part of that.
I am feeling very house bound today, Rod is taking Campbell to the aquarium, so I will have the 2 younger boys, and am trying to figure out what I can do with them to get out! lol
Relle do you try to feed Angus the same times every day? I'm very curious as Charlee used to feed all over the shop, but I want to try and get Jack into more of a routine. He feeds approx every 3 hours during the day and 3-5 during the night. What routine have you got Angus on? You too Kristy and Jem, do you feed your babies same time every day?

Mel, I do try to feed him at similar times hun, just so that I know that I can fit all of his feeds in. Generally his feed times are around 4-5am, 8-9am 11-12pm, 3-4pm 6-7pm then 9-10pm somewhere in between those general times is when the feeds start.
Generally through the day it is around 3 hourly, but sometimes 2 and a half if he wakes and seems hungry, or sometimes 4 if he is having a good sleep.
Between the 7ish pm feed and 10ish we keep him out of bed and just cuddle or let him snnoze in his rocker then wake him 30 mins before feed for a bath right before the feed, or if he is still awake but getting irritable, the bath is a good way to string him out, but we have always done it at night, and our boys have all gone down really well at night.
Sorry, have had a terrible couple of days with Seb and am at my wits end- pleasehelp!!
He feeds really well overnight, sleeps 3 hours between feeds. He has a 4-5am feed, and then he won't sleep from then on. He's fussy, unsettled, will give him one boob and he drains it and falls asleep. I put him down to sleep and he's awake an hour later with tummy pains and seems like he's hungry again. He sucks on his dummy furiously and if I offer him the other boob he takes it, drains it, vomits and then whinges with tummy pain again.
I have tried giving him a warm bath, some warm water, the dummy, rubbing his belly - I don't know what else to do. I'm so over tired and getting frustrated with him (which I know helps no one!).
Today he was awake from 4 am to 11 am (doing all of the things I described above), he then slept until 2pm, had a feed, went to sleep for a hour, and then woke up again.
Is this normal? it seems like his tummy pain is really uncomfortable for him, and I can hear the wind gurgling away in his lower tummy. He always burps really well though.
Any suggestions? We are seeing the GP tomorrow because I think he has thrush (he's got that white coating on his tongue and my nipples are a bit sore), do you think that might be a reason why he's so unsettled?

Avaleigh and I arrived home this afternoon. She is absolutely wonderful! Our first two nights were rough, only got 2 hrs sleep both nights cause she was hungry and windy but luckily my milk came in yesterday afternoon and she is a totally different baby. We got 6 or more hrs sleep last night!! And OMG my boobs are huge.. LOL
Well, I am tired and hungry so I am off to have some dinner and rest before our next feed.

I have had a pretty hard time over the last few weeks. I have had cracked nipples so haven't been feeding but expressing, then got thrush of the nipples and now have mastitis so between feeding, expressing then resting every 3 hours it takes it out of me.
Olivia won't settle much at this time, its an actual nightmare getting her to sleep. DH is in there now with her trying to get her to settle. We topped her up, but she is still screaming her little head off. It makes it hard when she does that when I have so much to do to feed her - its a long process of heating boobs, then expressing which takes ages with the blocked ducts, then cooling the boobs - I am up for a good 2 hours in the middle of the night.
Sorry to be a misery. I will be back to read all the annoucements and news over the next few days - hoepfully I can get myself right and get out of the house. All I want is to be able to feed my little one and stop this expressing nonesense - its so inconvenient for me!! I don't want to go onto formula - but if she keeps killing my nipples I think for my sanity and frame of mind I will have to
Kylie and Flossie - am sending you massive hugs atm. It is so difficult when our bubs wont settle and cant communicate exactly what is wrong to us.
Kylie - you seem to be doing all the right things, but will try and think of something to offer you, sorry I have no advice atm! I hope the GP can offer you some relief.
Flossie - hon, if it comes down to it, and putting Olivia on formula will make you a happy mum then dont beat yourself up about it - a happy mum = a happy bub, and therefore is the right thing to do! Fantastic if things settle and you can continue on b/f but if not - Thats OK!
Veronica - welcome hon, so good to have you in here. Cant wait to hear all about your beautiful new princess!
Mel - on the feeding schedule. Ideal feeding times for me is 6am-10am-2pm-6pm-10pm-2am! This is perfect timing for me, but Maddison usually has other ideas - lol. If she goes 4 hourly then woohoo but she tends to wake and grizzle searching and sucking at around the 3 1/2 hr mark, even 2 1/2hrs sometimes. She tends to sleep much better during the day which is frustrating, so am trying to change that. Had a really really unsettling day with her yesterday, she seemed to have a belly ache (like Seb!), yet she burped like no lady usually after each feed. However by night she was fine, and we had a great 4 - 4 1/2 hrly night. She does vomit a fair bit though so will discuss this with the mchn, but I'm not worried by it.

Flossie - I agree with Kristy. If putting Olivia on formula eases your sress then it is the right thing to do for bith you and your baby.
At my end, everything is going okay. I am really tired (that's to be expected though lol). Diana is still feeding well although she does become unsettled in the evenings. Apparently this is common for many babies and it will pass soon. I have managed to put some updated photos and an updated journal entry on my site though, so that's good. I have also started one university course last night. I'll see how I go (nearly fell asleep in the lecture last night, but otherwise did okay).

Thought I had better join the thread, as I am now a mummy and no longer pregnant lol (it feels weird saying that after so long!).
My little bubba was born on 20th of this month (lol a day before her EDD!).
All is going well- she is feeding and sleeping well, which is a godsend!
Not sure how much i will get here though, but will try my best!!
Well off again for yet another feed!

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I have had a good day and managed to feed Olivia 2 times today so hopefully if I keep it up and get her on right my nipples won't crack again.
Questions - Do the nipples tend to ach after feeding? Does anyone else experience this?
