just a quickie i better get to bed

rose - you are having a bit of a hard time of it, i hope everything goes well. i will be thinking of you.

pietta - ryley is a clever chookie isn't he, as rose said best to get started if he is trying to get out of the cot, i was lucky with ds he stayed in his cot until he was nearly 3 1/2 yrs old - he loved it and when he went into a bed he actually used to call out in the morning for me to get him - didn't realise he could actually escape rofl. however dd went into a bed at 19mths old and yup she used to come in and out allllllllll night :rolleyes: . the best thing i could suggest would be to maybe make sure that the cot rail is down and put a mattress on the floor so if he does try and get out he won't hurt himself in the process. good luck. oh and good luck on the tt - you are a braver woman than i am lol, i just hate it when they are first tt and you go out shopping or wherever and no matter how many times they go to the toilet before you leave home - they need to check out EVERY single toilet wherever you are. many a times i have been 1/2 way through grocery shopping and had to leave a trolley not to mention being in a store and got a few things to buy but still want to look around but nope have to leave it all there and come back to it lol. but it is good when they are done, just a lot of hard work at the beginning but am sure ryley will do really well. remember if it is stressing either you or ryley out, just pop nappies back on him and try again in a few months or weeks.

i better go to bed will do more personals tommorrow night when dh is on nightshift - HOORAY he is back to work after holidays, don't get me wrong i love having him around but really 2 wks can be enough we all need to get back into some sort of routine, especially as ds is starting school this year - we need to start getting up earlier than 9 o'clock lol.

Don’t know how long I’ll have, but I’ll try to write as many personals as I can before Charlie decides that he no longer wants to play quietly with his toys!

Firstly, hello to all the people who I haven’t met before. I know Mooshie, Rose, Pee, bon, dach, and a few others, but I see some names here that I haven’t seen before. So hi!

LOL at the swearing thing. I am usually pretty good these days unless I hurt myself, but when I do the ‘f’ word gets used a lot! Luckily, Charlie isn’t saying much yet, but I really need to stop. I’m going to be a primary school music teacher too, so I need to stop before then! Otherwise I might get fired. Oops.

Mooshie – thinking of you and sending baby hugs with regards to ttc. I know how much it sucks when the same thing keeps happening month after month. I don’t know if it helps, but the first month I started to “relax” about the whole thing was the month I got pg. I really hope it happens for you soon. Glad to see that Miss Lani is thriving. I hope I get to meet her one day!

Rose – wow, all that stuff sounds scary. I hope that everything goes well for you. Was the scan a regular one of a 4d one? I’ve heard they can pick up heaps with the 4d, but I haven’t had one myself. I’m glad there are another couple of pg mums on here – we can all whinge… I mean, go through the wonderful experience that is pregnancy, together. J

Pietta – what a clever cheeky boy Ryley is climbing out of his cot! When you’re out, does he sleep in a portacot or on a mattress? We’re thinking of putting Charlie in a bed soon, only because we want to use the cot for Bob when he arrives. DH is making him a car bed. I’ve heard that a good thing to do is use the bed for daytime, cot for night until they get used to it, and then take the cot away and just use the bed when they’re ready. We’re aiming to have the bed finished and start doing this by the end of March to give us a good couple of months to work it all out. What are your plans with Ryley?

Sorry for anyone I missed, but I fear that Master Charles has just about had enough of this room! BTW, we found out that we're having another boy! Very exciting, but now all the arguements about names start! We had a quick look last night and the only ones we could agree on (but neither of us were completly over the moon about) were Elliot, Alexander, William (Billy for short, although DH wants to call him Bill, but I reckon that's an old man's name!), Edward (Eddy) and something else I can't remember. This is hard! Anyway, gotta go, Charlie is getting into the drawers! Hope you're all well.

I wont even try to go into personals as I am still getting to know most of you and am a bit lost with whose who!

Aidan started walking today, he took about 10 steps to DH and back to me over and over again. Having said that, I cant imagine him getting up and walking without our 'gentle pressure' as he gets around just fine crawling.

It is humid in Melb tonight so I can still hear him singing in the monitor (Aidan, not DH!), not sleeping due to the heat. Let's hope he goes to sleep soon, I need rest....

Had my first day on the job as a swimming teacher today, what a challenge! I have discovered that the little ones are so much harder than the big ones, Day 2 tomorrow and I am still sh*tting myself!

Seeings as we are discussing TTC in this forum... I think I have decided to wait just a little bit longer (maybe in 3-6months we will start trying?). It feels wierd that I keep putting it off as I expected I would want to 'pop them out' (so to speak!) but I must be telling myself something if I keep pro-longing the decision making... I would love to hear anyone's experiences on pregnancy and pools/chlorine, I have looked it up on the net and it doesnt seem to be a problem but it is always nice to hear it first hand.

I dont think pools and pregnancy are a problem as i was recomended to swim while pregnant with Lily, to stengthen my hips because they hurt alot.

Kellee- i never thought of having both and we dont really have a plan of attack for tt or the bed either yet... this parenting thing is alot harder that they tell you!! or is it that i just didnt listen and thought i knew everything? lmao! Congrats on the little boy too! What wonderful news!!

Michelle IKWYM about having DH home alot. DH and I are both at uni studying the same thing and socialise together so i am loking for ways to escape! lol!!

Rose I am so hoping for you that everything is great. You can definately keep your mind busy with BB!!

Ryley is in f/t day care now- wow it is different!! He loves it there but I am so upset coz he is all Daddy Daddy at the moment and i ahve only had one Ryley initiated hug in a week :( and that was today. Oh well its just another stage I am sure!!

Jess, woohoo for Aidan walking, well done little man! Good luck with your 2nd day on the job today, I think it is very admirable to be stepping outside your comfort zone and doing something completely new like that. I'm with Tegan on the pregnancy/pool thing, I had swimming recommended to me when pg by the physio, so I'm pretty sure it's okay.

Kellee, woohoo for finding out you're having a boy! IKWYM with the name debates, we made so many lists and had so many arguments and didn't end up naming Kaleb until I was in recovery after the c/s and DH felt sorry for me and let me have my way... I can see things going the same way this time too.

Pee, Kaleb is a total Daddy's boy atm too. He goes up and gives him hugs all the time, which I barely ever get. It's like he finds me incredibly boring and Dad is a bit of a novelty. Someone with stacks of kids told me that a child will favour a different parent at different stages of his/her life, depending on what they're going through, so don't worry, I'm sure a Mummy phase will be coming up for us soon!

finally i have a chance to catch up! only because eliana is cutting one top molar & her third tooth on the bottom so is taking a well needed nap - sorry have posted much but i have been in here checking up on what everyone is doing - i must say i like this forum much better - at least i have people to talk to!!

pee - must be strange not having ryley around full time - gives you more time to scrapbook lol - no doubt he will be into a mummy phase soon - eliana is there right now & although it is cute & i know it p***es DP off it does get tiresome

jessica - woohoo on aidan walking - must be cute to see him up & toddling around - hope the humidity has gone & your swimming teaching is going well

kellee - glad your pg is going well - good luck with the names not too sure about bill but im sure you will agree on something by the time he arrives - i think it cute you call charlie master charles!

Well not much happening here. It is Harry's 3rd birthday tomorrow, he had a party on the weekend and had a great time so will have a quiet day tomorrow. Grace is saying "woof woof" and "miow" now which is so cute. She has also started having big tanties if she doesn't get what she wants, and squeals. She also bit me the other day but I don't think it was on purpose (well I hope not). She also had a great time at Harry's party.

Anyway gotta go a certain girl is getting cranky because I am not showing her enough attention!

Well I was very tired after being a pin cushion for 2 hrs. Three *****s in all and the green drink on an empty stomach. I managed not too throw up. I was just very tired. I sleeped after putting the kids to bed this arvo. Boy it was hot today. 38 deg and will only get down to 22 over night. Thankyou for all your kind words and thoughts. My results come through tomorrow arvo. Fingers crossed.

Hi bon, I remember you from pg bellies and chatting about big beds when my ds was going into one last year and tt I think. Glad to hear Harry had great b, day.

melbee70, hoep little eliana settles down with her teething. They can be nasty times. I think Amelia has just the top/bottom eye teeth and the 2 yr molars to get. We are in a teething free stage, thank goodness.

Hi Jo, don't think we have met. How are you going?

Pietta, how long has Ryley been in daycare? We are starting ds (3yr) in one day week and making this his 3yr kinda. This starts next week so I am a little daunted. I know he will be fine it's just he has not been away from me a full day regular. As for dh stage, Amelia is very much a mummy girl and has been for ever so long. She would cling to me if I let her but I have my limits. It can be frustrating at times especially if she is upset and will ONLY go to me.

Hi Jessica, There was a Jessica in our preg trimester, are you that one. Welcome and Hi anyway. It is so cool when they start walking. My dd has been walking 4 weeks and I look at her and can't imagine her crawling. They grow up so quickly. As for swimming my gp said there was no probs at all. You just should not be in the water if your waters have broken. If you are thinking about ttc in the next 3= months don't forget to take your folate.

Kellee, my scan was the normal scan. She said they were a bit more uptodatye since ds and dd scans. I have my specialist apoint on thursday re the placenta problem. I may even get to see bubs again. How far are you? Names are a hardy. dh does not even thik about it until a few weeks before birth. He thinks if the royals can wait months then a few days wont hurt if our baby is born before we think of a name. I like Elliot as a name.

mooshie, wow at having one at school this year. That will be different. Lani will miss him I'm sure. I think Amelia will miss ds when he is at 3 yr kinda as they play so well together and are often looking for each other.

OMG I hate it when I am MIA for thislong, I am almost unknown, I feel like a newbie. So many things I want to say to so many people and I am overloaded with info atm and it is also getting late, so I will save personals for tomorrow.

But HI TO Everyone!

Jessica is also going through the clingy stage, and is a definite mummys girl, as is Jemma, makes it sad for Arron but sometimes very tough for me. Jessica is also a climber but thankfully hasn
't realised the cot is climbable, except for the time that Arron forgot to put the side up, she climbed straight out then. SHe does get on the bench and on the pool table thoug, hopefully it takes awhile yet to pick up on the cot. As for tt, jem started at 19mths and was daytrained by 22mths. I will prob get the potty put when jess is about 18mths and see what happens. I just left it out and let Jem do her thing, no point stressing.

Hope the girls who are pg are going ok in the heat and good luck to all those ttg, not me I'm afraid, we have been away on holiday for a week and I am more sure than ever now that 4 is enough for me. Although hugging a 9 wk old was nice.

Anyway must dash,I should be sleeping. Promise I'll catch up soon, I love the bigger forum too and congrats Kellee on your 2nd ds.

Got my gtt test reading back today. #1 was 4.3 #2 was 5.0 and #3 was 5.4 so I am in the clear for gd. I am so happy.

I'm not too impressed with Yasin at the moment. He's just figured out how to open the doors (all our doors have handles that pull down so it pretty easy). DH was even less impressed when he got a little visitor while he was on the loo this morning LOL. He's also doing a pretty good impression of a mountain goat these days. He climbs everything that he can including the coffee table the arms of the sofa and arm chairs and this morning while I was in the laundry for about 10 seconds he climbed onto a chair and then onto the table and tried to help himself to my choccy milk - not happy Jan!!!!! My heart races a little bit every time I see him climbing something.
DH and I are planning to take Yasin to a fair this weekend so he can go on his first pony ride. I'm a bit excited.

I got a placenta scan yesterday and saw my baby. It was sooo cute that DH and I both wanted to give the screen a kiss :smt055 . My placenta is still low but we're hoping it will move up in the next couple of months :crossfingers:

Tee Hee Dach Grace is a little monkey too! She climbs on the table, on the lounge and one day before we moved and I had boxes everywhere, she climbed onto a box and then onto her highchair and stood up on the tray! She did this in the space of about 10 seconds, I practically leapt across the room to get her off then moved the highchair!

Dach, i so know what you mean about the climbing. Lily has tried to open the drawers in the kitchen and climb up them and also theres a box on the kitchen floor and she climbed on that to try and get to the bench. Also loves to try climb the coffee table too #-o

Wow I am so lucky my kid's have not been very interested at the climbing. My 3yr old will occasionally fling himself over the back of the couch but Amelia will just stand on the couch. That is the best she can do atm. I am sure if she was encouraged though she would do it.

dachlostar, I just realised you are only 3 weeks ahead of me. Hope your placenta moves up. If not will they do a c/s or will they let you try to give birth? I had a surprise u/s today at my appoint to check my placenta. He said I have a 20% chance of a retained placenta but due to good health, no bleeding and other factors I am in for a good chance of a "normal" delivery. (if you can say that) So good news 2 days in a row. I will have to have iv access and blood on standby just incase they do find the placenta does not come away properly.

Ds is going to start orrientation for 3yr old kinda next week. Should be good. I am quite excited.

I am looking into gym for Jessica and Jemma this year, Jessica swings and climbs and I am sure she would be a star! LOL Who knows, maybe she is a future gymnast!

I was thinking the same thing Michelle. Lily is always climging and stretching her legs in very weird positions.

Lily has now worked out how to climb up onto the lounge and how to get back down. So she's been doing that all day now. Not sure how to stop her?

Jessica – congratulations on Aiden walking! It’s so wonderful when they take their first steps. Careful – he’ll start running soon and then you’ll wish he never walked in the first place!

Pee – oh you poor thing not getting as much hugs from Ryley. I felt so bad for you when I read that post. I can kind of relate – Charlie went through a big “Daddy” phase when I got back from tour in October, and I had just stopped b/f too, so I was pretty down about it. I’m sure he loves you lots and lots, and you’ll be getting those hugs again soon. It’s great that he seems to like daycare.

Jo – I laughed when I read about DH ‘giving in’ on the name thing. Mine did too. I reckon we deserve it, going through pregnancy and labour. I bet that husbands would DEMAND to name the child if they had been through what we have to go through! May I ask a question… are you going c/s again this time, or ‘natural’? (I hate using that word – it somehow devalues the experience of childbirth if you don’t end up having a vaginal birth.) I found out that my placenta is a little low, and even though they’re pretty sure it will move, I’m nervous about having to have a c/s this time as I don’t know what to expect. Anyway, sorry, TMI!

Mel – that pic of Eliana is co cute! She’s grown so much. I hope we have a Brisbane meet up again soon so I can see how big she is. Cute that she’s saying a few things too. Charlie only says “mum”, “bub” and “dad”, so he obviously doesn’t take after his mother in the talking department! I hope that you are able to work out some relationship solutions soon – sorry that you have to go through troubles, mate.

Bon – glad that Harry’s party went well. Wow, three – they grow up so fast. That’s so cute about Grace making those noises! I hear you on the tanties. I reckon the best strategy is to just ignore them – that’s what we do. I read somewhere that kids are like performers on a stage… it’s no fun to perform if nobody is watching!

Hey Mitch! Was wondering where you had been. OMG at Jess getting on the pool table and the bench – she must be a strong one! Charlie is just starting to learn how to climb, but I’ve had to be very firm about him not climbing on the coffee table, as DH just finished making it and we want it to stay looking nice as long as possible! How do you stop them? I can’t stand it!

Rose – yay for your clear test! That must be a relief.

Dach – I smiled when I heard about you wanting to give the screen a kiss! I can’t believe you’re 30 weeks already! Wow. It goes faster the second time, hey? Hope you’re able to take some pics of Yasin’s pony ride. What a cute thing to do!

Tegan – aagghh the climbing again! I reckon it’s ok if she can get on and off safely – the danger probably comes when she’s able to use the couch as a ‘launching pad’ to climb to other things! Hope she doesn’t realise that anytime soon!

Sorry I’ve been absent again. I used to write on the BB forums a lot when Mum had Charlie and I was “supposed” to be studying, but I found that I have to actually get out of the house and go to a library or a coffee shop to study now, otherwise I don’t get anything done. The internet is such a distraction! My exam is on Monday, so once that’s over I will hopefully be able to check the internet more than once a week. I hate psychology. Dumb dumb dumb. Poor little Charlie was very sick this morning. He threw up quite a few times (all over me, too, thanks) and was very sad. He actually fell asleep for 20 minutes in bed with us this morning, which he hasn’t done since he was about 6 months old. He felt better after he had a big long sleep though and has been fine for the rest of the day – maybe it was something he ate? He’s been really off his food the last couple of weeks too… ironically, that happened just after I was telling a friend what a good eater he is. I really don’t know why – maybe it’s the heat. Any ideas? I refuse to give him sweet things just so he will eat – I know he won’t starve.

Bob is doing well. He’s even MORE active than Charlie was as this stage, so any hopes I had of having a nice quiet baby have been dashed! DH still hasn’t felt him move yet, but I don’t think it will be long provided I don’t put on any more fat – otherwise he won’t be able to feel through the fat layers!

Anyway, sorry it’s so long. I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend, and I’ll write more when I’m a free woman again (when the exam is over!).

Kellee - I think Lily has worked out how to get to other things by climbing onto the lounge! Just now She got up on it then tried to climb up onto the arm of the lounge to get to the xmas tree(yes we stiull have it up 8-[ ) She's going to give me a heart attack one of these days!

I hope Charlie is better soon, poor thing.

Well we had a busy weekend, Arron was working, the kids went to MIL's yesterday arvo and I moved all of Jemma's toys from her old room to her new room. I am trying to sort through thingas so I can have my garage sale and try to off-load some ****! THen I can start on my office (which is going to be Jemma's old room), I can't wait. I think I will paint it too. I will be able to scrapbook all the time then!

not alot happening here - spent the day with DP's mum at her place so i could go to a scrapbooking shop which had heaps of great stuff in there - the weekend was pretty uneventful - eliana is now standing by herself & took a step so im watchin for more movement - the teeth she hasa been cutting seem to be through her gums now - he favourite toy at the moment is a tea set - ive already had heaps of pretend tea this morning!! but she is so cute even stirs it for me

Well i think Lily will be walking any moment now! Yesterday she was so close to taking 2 steps but she was a bit scared. She is standing so well now though. She can go from sitting to standing now without using any furniture! She realises she doing something good because she's all happy and claps her hands when she does it.

Michelle, xmas tree going down soon, just have to find a place to put it!

Mel, moving around the 10th March. Not really that long to go! How cute with Eliana and the tea set! Lily's fav toy at the moment is still a christmas ball, she just loves it lol. Also loves books too, like turning the pages. She's always taking them off the bookshelf.

Look out Tegan! LIfe as you knew it will be over LOL! Where are you moving to? I must only half read stuff cos I didn't realise you were moving. Gotta love the simple joys of childhood and the toys our kids prefer!

Mel- moving, is that a temporary or permanent move! I know things have been tough have you made a decision on what you are doing? Nice to see that you get along well with DP's mum. The only prob with having a room to scrap in is that it is as I speak full of the **** I am taking out of everybodies rooms LOL, better get that garage sale happening so I canget in there.

Michelle, we're moving back down to Newcastle becaise i hate this house, it's too small, no grass for Lily to play, no carpet at all. But all the other places are so expensive here. Down there we can get a 3 bedroom house, with yard etc for the same price. We'll then be moving to Adelaide in about August because DF is joining the Air Force.

Tegan, I didnt know you were moving either. I hope it all goes smoothly, sounds like you will be having a busy year!

We had a family day at the zoo on Sunday, it was so much fun! Aidan's favourite were the seals (Mummy's too!). Took lots of photos and hopefully one day in the future I will scrapbook everything!

Aidan is walking more and more, he gets very excited and shows off.

I have missed my Mothers Group and will see them all today after one month off. I bet all the bubs have changed a lot.

Training went well for the new job and I have my own first lesson on Wednesday afternoon. Although I have had a lot of practice I am still nervous. I need to set the rules in the first lesson and make sure I impress all the Mum's watching like hawks (I dont blame them, I would too). Let's hope I train the next Ian Thorpe!

Kellee, I hope Charlie is feeling better.

Quiet in here...

Well over the weekend I made a few decisions about the next couple of years - first I am not going to enrol in my graduate diploma, I feel the study workload, even part time, will interfere too much with my main job which is, of course, being a mum. I thought I needed to do something else, so I am not 'just' a mum, but the truth is I am happy being 'just' a mum. I get asked a lot when I am going to 'use' my degree, because to a lot of people, getting a degree and then deciding to be a SAHM is a complete waste. To me I am doing the most important job there is, but sometimes it gets to me and I wonder if I should do more with my life and I start to believe that maybe being a mum isn't enough, as a job it certainly isn't valued very highly by society. But I realised on the weekend that I need to have more faith in myself and being a mum IS enough, it is more than enough. Maybe choosing not to study is lazy, I don't know. But it feels right.

Anyway following on from that, DH and I were discussing the prospect of having a third baby and as a result I am now off the pill. We both know that three is our limit, we have enough bedrooms, a big enough car and all the baby gear so we decided "Lets do it!" I won't be charting or anything, just keeping track of my cycles as we both want to take a casual approach to it and see what happens. I really don't want to start obsessing about it!

Anyway that's enough of talking about me, I feel better now!

I gotta get a new puter bf I scream. I was trying to find a hotel to stay in for our wedding anniversary on Friday and it is Aust Open weekend so everything is booked out of course esp since it is weds and I have left everything to the last min. I have booked am Imax movie though and it really doesn't matter how fancy the place we stay is so who knows where we'll end up LOL

Michelle, thanks for your thoughts. I was sick with nerves before the shift with no reason to be as 2 of my 4 classes were absent anyway! I always work myself up too much, it is horrible. I bet I will feel just as nervous for my next shift....

Bon, I loved reading your post, I feel the same all the time, and then other days I think, hang on a minute, this job aint easy, and I am pretty good at it! Good for you, good luck TTC and I think I will be joining you very soon. I think my new job as a casual swim teacher will work really well with my #1 job of SAHM. Maybe that's why I get so nervous, because I want it to work out sooo much?!

Tegan, I can't wait till Aidan is old enough and we can take him to the theme parks on the Gold Coast. He was conceived in Brisbane so it is kinda special! To this day I still wonder if the Lethal Weapon ride had anything to do with my conceiving??!! (I heard a story about a woman who tried for years and years to conceive and what eventually worked for her was one of those really fast updside down rides - freaky!)

Glad to hear the new job is going well Jess! The day at the zoo sounds great, I can't wait to take Kaleb one day.

Bon, woohoo for your decision! I think it is very admirable, but IKWYM with being made to feel that being 'just a mum' is not enough, especially by non-mums. You are definitely not being lazy by choosing not to study. And how exciting to be planning for number 3!

Kaleb is being an adorable angel child this week, which I am making the most of, because he can switch at any minute! Only complaint I have, and question those with older children is, how do they survive childhood? Kaleb has started almost running around with no regard for what is on the floor and the amount of falls and near misses he has are just heart-stopping.

Jess, yeah i heard that story too, very freaky.

ARG Lily has now figured out how to climb up ontoi our bed! We have wood planks under the matress and the frame is metal so she gets up onto the frame and then onto the matress, very smart. Still not walking yet! I wonder when? She's showing all the signs.

Sorry for not posting in such a long time. You can imagine what it's like to be pregnant and have a 14 months old... and on top of that I am sick... arrrg

All is well. Bubs is 2.7kg now (according to the u/s the doc did yesterday). Nothing seems to be happening "down there" though, so I think I won't go early.

Wolf has had bronchitis for 2.5 months now (on and off). It sucks. First I thought it was just a cold and then once it was diagnosed, we have been trying to treat it - thus far unsuccessfully (long story, involving way too many doctors with way too many opinions). I think he is sounding worse again and what was an infection last monday might have flared up into a proper bronchitis again ... but he is quite happy, eats well, sleeps quite well... you wouldn't know it if it wasn't for his coughing and rattling breath.
