Rory - some kids are more sensitive to being wet so disposables are probably better for them, as Ally still poos like a million times a day I'm happy to use cloth... I was talking to my GF today and during our 30min call I had to change Ally 3 times as she had done 3 poos - so glad I was using cloth!
I'm not sure how much cheaper it is, you can buy Baby Love nappies for around $40 for around 100. So, they cost ~ 40 cents each. If you use 7 per day it is $2.80 per day. If you spend say $100 on outlay for cloth it will take you 35 days before you are "even" then on the 36th day, and each day after you will save around $2 per day (assuming things like water,washing powder etc.. only costs $.80 per day). So I guess you do save a bit of money? if you needed to use a dryer, I'm sure any cost savings go out the window.
