ohhhhh Declan.......poor mite. i hope now he is in bed he sleeps well for you Simone and wakes up in the morning feeling better.
Dunno how you are doing it all chick 3 kiddies and a broken hand we should start calling you Superwoman!
Nixon fought to go to sleep tonight but i let DH deal with him! he's off now so hopefully has a good night.
-
I've had enough already! Declan just will not stop! (i know its not his fault.) Everytime i try and give him just a little of water (got it a bottle, putting in 20mls at a time) he throws it up. He's still throwing up food, even though i didnt think he had any left. I think he has gastro. Nic, im so sorry if he does, i know you dont need nixon being sick again...
This is the last thing i needed, my wrist has started swelling again, and is REALLY sore, i was hoping to knock myself out with some sleeping pills tonight... *sigh*
sorry to go on and on girls, i just dont know why i seem to get ALL the bad luck. Just when i though all the kids would be ready to go back to daycare tomorrow, and i would get a day to catch up on housework (its going to take me twice as long as it normally would) and some sleep...
Nic - i see you have changed your ticker :D (and the pick of nixon is so cute!!)
-
Simone - poor little Declan and poor you again! I hope he gets better soon and you all get a good nights sleep. Sorry to hear you're on your lonesome again, it' no fun esp with a sick child. Fingers crossed no one else gets it. Glad you had fun at the austprem chrissy do. Sounds like you all had fun (apart from Declan spewing).
Nic - hope you didn't have a sore head this morning as your post was rather funny!!!! Sleep in must of helped. New pic of Nixon is so cute. Well done DH for being so busy today, it was a pretty good day for anything outdoors.
Bath - can't believe the queue! Everyone trying to get in early before the rush (I think today must have been the rush!). At least Wade got to have some fun on the train. Is he getting any Thomas stuff for xmas? How was your choc cake?
Neeny - I went to shops Friday and it was pretty busy (got there at 10am!). My friends who work in retail say it's busier much earlier this year. Hate waiting till payday - my pay is on a Thursday, so sometimes I miss out on the sales as they finish on Wed. I haven't tried Marley with a cup yet but they do get the hang of it eventually and at least it cools her down when she spills it!!
IK - what's happening at the fire service? Are they being funny with women being in it? You'll soon straighten them out. Did you have your nap? My friend was going to head to ABA for bras, what were the prices like there (are they roughly same as Myer?). Hope you got your nap and are feeling refreshed.
Party was such fun. It started at 3.30pm and we got home at 9.30!!! Boys were drinking and almost ready to get into the spa, thankfully a few declined so we managed to get out the door and head home. Poor Chelsea was so tired! They did lots of fun games - a colouring competition, sat in the princess tent and had a story read to them, pass the parcel, Hi-5 dancing when they were all worn out they sat in the lounge and watched Wiggles!!!! Gave me some great ideas for Chelseas 4th bday in January.
Will try to get to bed before midnight tonight (yeah right!), but will lurk for a while!
-
Morning girls! Very tired ATM cause AGAIN I went to bed late (after midnight) - I am a bit like you Mel!!
DH posted his first comment on BB under the "Mens General Chatter - Struggling with fatherhood" post - I am pretty proud of his advice:)
Weekend passed smoothly, friends over for BBQ yesterday, and I'm going shopping for a Nancy Gantz body slimmer today. We have a black tie Law Institute function friday night so I need to pull in the belly and avoid VPL for the dress I plan to wear. It fits ok but would look better with the Nancy Gantz, IYKWIM!!
Mel I like the sound of that party - I am so looking forward to Flynn's first b'day!
Simone, how is Declan today?
IK, I look forward to the outcome of your musings! I am always up for a discussion about women's rights - you know me!!
Neeny - good point about the Chrissy cards - I "plan" to send them every year but always fail dismally!!
Nickers - PML at your drunken post!!
Bath - funny thing about my DH, if he is thanked for doing stuff like the shower he gets offended cause he says I shouldn't think of it as a favour but more just him doing "our" job, which is to co-operate in keeping the house clean. If you read him Mrs Cleaver comment in the mens forum you will probably get my drift. He cracks me up, though:D
Better go - have to clean before I go out. The boy is sleeping in his pram so I better change the sheets in his cot....
-
Good morning... busy weekend... Verity is at home today finishing homework that she was unable to do over the weekend... then we are going back into myer one final time to see if we can get these photos done!
I'm quietly miffed about a few things too IK so i sympathsise. I guess I'm finding that my parenting style is quite unusual and it's alienating other parents. For example: last night we had neighbours and their children over. Well it was like our place became their play venue... top priority was that they have fun. Whenever DH and I tried to actually talk to the adults their children would come over and pull on their parent's arms until they took them into Wade's room to play with toys etc. I know I know you'll say they were just being kids but these parents simply turned their backs on us EVERY single time their children demanded their attention. They just didn't seem capable of meeting their children's needs if it was urgent or meeting their needs whilst chatting at the same time. And they spoke to these children (including a 12 yo boy) in these softly softly delicate baby voices like: "ok darling, whatever you want darling, ok sure sweetheart... ok I'll lift you up so that you can play with delicate family heirlooms that have obviously been placed out of reach of Wade... but you are my little Prince who I just can't say 'no' to so I'll let you bash it against the shelf because if you want to break it then I'm not going to be a baddy parent and actually lay down a nasty boundary!"
Needless to say I'm starting to wonder whether I'm a bad parent myself for having boundaries and rules because so many parents I meet these days seem to have this "I'm your friend, not your parent" style. it's driving me NUTS!
Anyhow, let me fester over this for a while... i'll go into the city... come back later and no doubt be over it! LOL ... and do personals.... Hope you all have lovely days girls :)
-
Bath, you're a wonderful aprent, and you have 3 beautiful, well behaved children to vouch for that!! Dont let other people'd behaviour let you doubt yourself :)
Declan has stopped throwing up, but ryan is here today, as he's sick too...
Thinking of going to drs today as my wrist is hurting really bad still, and i need some decent painkillers...
-
That's funny, Simone, I don't remember you ever posting that when you're sick you take yourself over to DH's so he can look after you? One day this ride's gonna stop and he's gonna wonder why he's not allowed back on!! I can't wait for that day, Sim :hugs:
Bath- p!ss weak parents like that drive me nuts too! Stand your ground, it's your house. I hope the shopping helps your mood!
Oscar is on my lap but about to be evicted...
Mel - nothing happening that hasn't been happening since the CFA's conception; "it's a man's world", still.
Well, I've put up a notice of motion for our next meeting to get anchor points put into our new brigade car, as one of the main reasons we got it was for the use of the Running Team...which is made up predominantly of families. When we go away for the Eastern or State Championships the mummies and single girls who aren't in the team usually head out for part of the day to take in the sights of the host town. This means we usually take a few cars to get to the same place. Now that we have the van we are supposed to be able to all go together...but with no kids obviously, cos there are no anchor points. So, I got a quote for two. Until yesterday no-one had put their name in favour and one (contrary) person had put their name against it, for whatever reason. It has had no support whatsoever and lots of "what does she want to do that for?" when I'm not around. Now they probably think I only want it to benefit myself because of Oscar. Not so. It was supposed to benefit anyone with a child who uses a restraint if we want to cart around at a comp or even TO a comp and save on cars headed to the same place. It is supposed to benefit any other member who has a child or any future member who has a child. It's a starting point to put money where mouths are when we spout "it's a family friendly brigade". I can see that the people with older kids who won't use the points are being big naysayers, as well as people with no kids on the horizon. The captain can't put his name to it because he has a blanket policy not to, but he will speak in favour of it and vote for it at the meeting. DP won't put his name to it because he wanted to put it after someone else had so that he wouldn't look too biased (ummm, he's going to look biased anyway, so why not just lend me visible support from the outset). Not only that, what if one of the daddies wanted to bring a child to something? I'm not just thinking of mummies. However, everyone else seems to be regarding me now as a mummy who should just stick to that and not try to fight the 'system' (i.e. patriarchal) and make things change to cater for mummies who want to be involved. Well, this is just the start as far as I am concerned. The thing is, I am now thinking of pulling the motion and instead reading out a letter at the meeting stating my disappointment and my reasons (and an apology to my seconder). It's going to be resoundly defeated anyway. We've voted on much, much less useful stuff before and it's gone through. The thing is, DP got home last night after a job and it was discussed. He said it's not going to go through. I started to get agitated and said that I may as well resign (ok, so it was peppered with swear words...and I didn't mean it!). Also, yesterday we were discussing going away on strike teams for the fires in the East. I said that I could do an Incident Command Centre (ICC) job and take Oscar. Well, more wet blankets came out. Pretty much based on presumptions, because the wet blankets have never worked in ICC's and don't realise that a member with a young baby actually could still be of use in a campaign! Women should not have to pretend that they are men to be included. We should be accomodated on our own terms. Anyway, my musing extend beyond this little brief, but I won't bore you with it any more. I'm going to write it down and try to get it out at the meeting. At which I'm sure to attract disapproval because I'm going to take Oscar (why can't both of us attend? Oscar won't take the bottle so he can't be left with anyone!).
ok, now for brekky...meeting a friend for lunch...
-
Well we went to our 4wd xmas party yesterday and it was great, the kids had fun, it was at a park so they climbed trees, played in the playground etc was wonderful. There were also games organised for the kids, santa came and delivered pressies for the kids, nice food and nice people it was a great day overall.
Kailen had his check up for his ears on Friday, they said that they are getting better but he has to have a check up in 3 mths cause his left ear drum is still slightly sucked in which if it gets sucked in anymore it will require a bigger op.
Well I'm starting to toilet train Wyatt so that will be fun.
We also got our Chrisco on Friday so Iwas happy until DH and I had a fight, after that we sat down and had a talk about why we've been no so happy lately, don't know if anything got resolved but it's out there now.
Well better go for now as the boy is wanting a feed so will be back later to do some personals.
hugs xoxo

Hey chickies
Well, have some different painkillers atm, just seeing if they work, otherwise im up for another trip back to the RMH...
Xander and Anneliese are in care today, i had to put Anneliese is because i couldnt look after Allie, Declan and H with my hand... But i rang before, and she's going fine. And also found out Declan tummy bug - he caught it from my SIL, not daycare :D
Be back soon, must attempt some washing... have run out of towels.
Love,
simone xx
-
Hey guys,
Nic - I had to laugh when i ready your "Tipsy" post, very funny, glad you had a good time!!
Simone - Geez what a rough time your having, you sound like your in good spirits though, dont stress! I hope Declan gets better soon and you can have a rest!
Bath - I COMPLETELY understand how you feel about those parents. We had friends come and stay with us not long ago and their kids were out of controll. These people were the opposite though, they let their kids run riot in MY house, they were screaming and riding their little scooters into my freshly painted walls and when i went to tell them to stop it they went into mass hysteria and i get the evil eye from the mother. anyway after a horrid night (they stayed overnight) they finally went home and i was left with chewed up food which had been spat out and nicely placed behind the TV in the spare room!
I too will be enforcing strict rules with Lachlan especially when we are out with other people, like its rude to interupt and to have manners, please, thankyou! its not hard. I dont know why there are so many bratty children out there with parents that dont even notice.
Oh bad luck about the Santa line up at Myer, you might have to sleep out to get a spot next year ha ha!
Oh well, Lachlans horns are slowly coming back out. he is back to the 40 min sleeps and the screaming again. The night wasnt too bad, the usual 11 and then 3 feeds but he is just so unhappy. I have bought some Bonjella gel and some rusks for him to try so i will see how we go!!
-
Rory - good on your DH for lending advice. There sounds like a big need for a "normal" dad to tell others it's not that bad. What is a Nancy Gantz??????? I have a corset style top that sucks everthing in as well as a pair of "sucker in" undies. Love them!!!! But you have to make sure you don't get the roll over effect from around the bra area (IYKWIM).
IK - it seems like it will always be a mans world with not much accommodating a mum and her child. Pity some of the other mums don't speak up too! The CFA were on radio the other day saying they welcome everyone to volunteer including mums!!!! Stand tall and fight for what you believe, cause as you say, it's not just for you but others as well.
Bath - Sounds like you had a similiar night to us last night! There were 2 boys at the party who always run riot and the parents totally ignore everything. They were jumping on the couch with shoes on (a new leather couch!!!), pushing other kids and not once did the parents say anything. I am quite strict in my house about what can be touched and when Chelsea goes to someone elses home, she is very well behaved and doesn't touch anything. I am very proud of that fact she doesn't do that! I also had a mum from mothers group when Chelsea was a baby, asking me why I hadn't baby proofed my house!!! Chelsea was a good baby and never touched photos and ornaments etc as she was always told not too - her child kept pulling everything off!! Don't doubt you parenting style - you will find many agree with you. Some parents just switch off when they go to someones elses house and let them run riot! It would embarass the hell out of me if my kids ever did that. How did visit to Santa go?
Simone - hows the hand after new painkillers? Glad to hear Declan is on the mend. Hope you get your washing dry, should its beautiful outside. Must be hard doing washing and hanging out with one hand?
Amanda - sounds like a great fun day. I was going to get Chrisco, what's it like? Sorry to hear things aren't going well with DH, but atleast you have laid everything out and hopefully things will improve. Glad to hear Kailen's check up went well and good luck with toilet training Wyatt - it's such fun isn't it (NOT!!!). Good time to start though.
Dee - hopefully the bonjela etc will work and keeping fingers crossed he gets back to a good sleep pattern for you.
Swimming this morning which went very well, Chelsea is becoming a very good swimmer! Monday treat is McDonalds, so they had lunch and then played for 2 hours on the equipment while by GF and I enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee. Home, then did some finger painting (how messy!!), now she is relaxing watching a DVD. Off to read all my catalogues and local paper. Better think about dinner too!
-
Dee - I hope Lachlans horns are just temporary.
IK - good luck at your next meeting, hope they take things on board.
Baths - why should you feel bad, children need boundaries (as you knoww with your training) It is especially important to teach then respect for other peoples property.I don't understand it either.
Oh Simone - thinking of you, hang in there.
Amanda - at least the issues are out there and I hope things pick up for you.
We find out tomorrow if our rental application is approved, which means we will move 22nd Jan. It will mean a very tight budget, but we are unhappy where we are now, so it will be worth it.
Nathan is still quite congested, have stopped solids as he just throws them up again. Oh he's awake gotta go, hope everyone is okay
-
Mel - i love my junk mail too, glad swimming is going well
-
Hey ladies
New painkillers are ok, they are meant to be drowsy ones, and im still wide awake, in pain, and have a headache to go with it!! Dont know how im going to do the washing, but i have to... im out of towels. The house is a pigsty and has to be cleaned. Maybe i need to think about hiring a cleaner?? maybe after xmas...
-
Good afternoon... got home about 20 mins ago... we waited in the queue for 2 hours:eek:
but finally they are done and look pretty good. DH came over from work and helped me out for the second hour... one of his colleagues did the same... was about 20 families ahead of us.
I've calmed down about the parenting style thing. LOL It wasn't really that the kids were running amok... just that the parents themselves were acting like children... LIFTING their toddler up to where we had put things out of reach... like we had child-proofed it but not 'parent-proofed' it ...grrrr. It's also a particular way of speaking to children that seems so prevalent these days: women who use these little soft baby voices and delicately whisper "whoopsy, stop that darling" ARRRGGGGH makes me want to pull my hair out. When a child needs rules reinforced you speak like you mean it ... not like "please darling if it's not too inconvenient for you...". Know what I mean? I don't mean yell and scream, just speak with authority for chrissake!
uh oh... blaster poo... back in a tic....
-
Bath, you must be crazy :) Hope you had fun though xx
-
yeah, LOL Simone... once again verity was a great help... it didn't seem that long actually... I was able to wander around keeping Wade occupied while Verity held the spot in the queue watch Niall while he slept... then we'd swap etc.
And how are you going darl? Those pain killers kicked in yet? Ouch... how are you going to peg those towels out? Would your DH do it? I know he's sick but surely it would be easier for him than you with your wrist?
uh oh... gonna have to try again later ... the kids needs me, guess it's understandable, been a tough morning/day for them...
-
I wish the painkillers would kick in Bath, then i would whip around and do the housework and deal with the pain from that later. But isntead i just feel like crap. I've been taking panadol 15's since thursday, they say if you are on them for 48 hours and they arent working, see your gp. Wondering if i should... they arent really doing that much...
-
Bath - sounds like you had a good little system going! Verity sounds like such a good help. I was 12 when my brother was born and I loved helping out.
Simone - maybe ask your dr about them, you think they should be working. The plaster cast isn't too tight is it? You need one of those pick up thingies the rubbish collectors at the races use, the ones with a claw on the end!!!! Or a cleaner LOL!!!
-
Simone, how ya doin? Hope the wrist settles down!
Bath you Santa nut!! Completely agree with you on the kid-control front. I was disucssing it with Mum today and actually saying what a good little boy you have in Wade (even though he is a nest-building wrecker at home;) ) If it takes your kind of discipline to get a boy like Wade then sign me up for classes.
Karen sending you good vibes for the house!
Mel, Nancy Gantz is just a fancy American girdle brand. Woman at Myer sold me a cheapie Playtex sucker-inner, which works just as well and only $25.
IK, I know it's not the point but couldn't you just install an anchor point yourself? I know the fitting and bolts only cost under $10. Can you or DP drive a drill, cause that's all that's needed really. But on the general point I say fight the good fight, love:mad:
Gotta go - boy is grunting for attention (the little one, that is!) Oh, DH just went up to him. Sounds like he has tangled himself in the cot bars - LOL!
-
Ive been to the shops today, did the grocery shopping, Having some neighbours over for a chrissy bbq on sat so bought the kids something small each, Bath i hope they are not like the kids u just had to deal with! Then on Sunday we are having our mothers group chrissy party in a park, we did a SS aswell so got a big weekend but looking forward to it.
Simone- You couldnt help Declan being sick, thats ok, Nixon should be right.
what r u doing house work for!! get H to do that crap u need to rest your hand or u will be in plaster for longer then 6 weeks!
Bath- whats a blaster poo!
Glad everyone laughed at my stupid drunko post, u know i kinda forgot i wrote it till Sim told me yesterday, then driving home i thought crap i cant remember what i wrote! Lucky it wasnt anything to silly just cleary couldnt push the right keys on the board lol!
Karen- hope Nathan is on the medn soon poor boy
Where is Emishka gotten to??
mel- glad swimming went well
Rory- thats great DH jumped on with some advise, maybe i should get my dh to read it! did he have to have his own user name for that u can he use youors?
Dee- i hope bonjela works for Lachlan, i have about 3 tubes of it and when Nixon is teething its a great help! i think he likes the taste.
good luck on toilet training Wyatt Amanda!
-
Hiya Mel and Rory: Yeah Verity was great today even though we started out the day locking horns over her unwillingness to keep her room tidy... I WILL NOT subscribe to doing it myself. I wonder what FlyLady has to say on the matter... DH still thinks i should be the one making her bed and picking up all the stuff she dumps on the floor but I know that I was perfectly capable of it when i was her age... blah blah blah LOL you've heard this all before. Oh and Rory I actually agree with your DH, he didn't really need a standing ovation ;) it's a bit of a joke between my DH and I that he needs praise for every little thing cos that's what the Mars/Venus book says etc. he doesn't really believe it either... maybe it's just our way of feeling good about our relationship. I just wish he would catch up with me about the kids doing jobs too...
Hmmm.... I had Wade settled at the table with a snack... he's just had an early bath... then as soon as I got into typing this he decided to deliberatley drop his water on the floor. Oh well... it needed a mop. I silently escorted him to the toilet (time-out place)... better go get him now and debrief about that little act of rebellion!
ETA: Hi Nic! Sorry missed your last post... blaster poo is one that goes up the back and onto the clothes... just our silly word for it... Aldi's usually keep them in but I think he might be ready for the next size up!
BRB

I wish it were that simple, Rory! It's a brigade vehicle, but it would still be better to get it done by an accredited person, for CFA insurance etc. It also requires more than just a drill and bolt, it needs a rod, like a truss, going under it, cos it's a Transit Van. Also, any kind of action like that still needs to be passed by a meeting. So, it's more than just a bolt for these naysayers, because to me, it's just a bolt issue and Bob's your uncle. The other potential complication which would kill my motion dead is that the Captain would like the vehicle to be upgraded in some sort of classification so that all the maintenance gets paid for by the authority. Should that happen then there will be no carrying of kids on board - it will be as good as a fire truck as far as non-firefighter carrying is concerned...and that's none. However, that hasn't happened yet and my motion is dependant on this other potential, as well as the attitudes of various inert members (as opposed to progressive!).
Bath - I agree, once you start getting blow outs from the Aldi nappies, it's time for the next size! Niall will be in the green ones, too! They're lovely with the bear printed on them :) Your 'blaster poo' is my BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosion...what LPG gas cylinders do when they get too hot!). Glad you finally got the photos done!
Karen - good luck with the house stuff - at least you have a change to look forward to in the new year :)
Dee - I hope this is temporary
Gonna try to put this sleeping boy down. This week is going to be *****ful, weather/fire-wise.
Total Fire Ban in Vic tomorrow, girls.

Time for a new thread everyone :P
