Simone what was the funny bit?? how's that tho disrespecting you in your own home.
Dee I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew, but you are right in keeping the kids away from that sort of situation. I hope you cope with the move alright this weekend and only unpack the essentials until Micheal can help you.
Well DH and I had a fight on Saturday cos I forgot the nappy bag when we went out to the shops and Wyatt decided that this was the time he was going to do a poo, so DH decided that I was an imbicile as he put it, which of course provoked a response from me. We wasted a whole day either not talking to each other or fighting not good, it's funny how when he gets made he says things to hurt me, I don't know if every male does it or weather it's him cause he knows how to push my buttons. Yesterday was all good tho.
Mel you'll have to email a pic of the cake to me, and :happybirthday: Chelsea.
Jess are you on any antibiotics? :happybirthday: to Tim as well.
Karen I hope Luke is feeling better today.
Hello IK, Bath and Rory.
hugs xoxo
i just put on the end "So thats that LOL." Maybe not funny, but i can look back on it and have a bit of a laugh now. I can imagine what it would've looked like from the sidelines!!
Simone I like your new ticker saying Single and Strong and that's what you are, let it be water off a ducks back. Take a few deep breaths and you will be fine.
hugs xoxo
Well my slice was not as good as IKs... too crumby not chewy like hers... hmmm...I did use brown sugar instead of raw, maybe this had more of an effect than I expected it would. Perhaps I cooked it a fraction too long (overcompensating for my undone brownies!) the thing is our oven is tricky... it's hotter at the back than at the front so i have to turn it around half way and I think this stuffs me up sometimes. Oh well, I'll just have to make ANOTHER batch! LOL oh and I might add a fraction more dates to make the filling go closer to the edge, and in IK's version it was thicker too, much better... All together it's a very yummy recipe ... I just can't help myself regarding fiddling with the recipe though... oh and I also might add a smidgen of Philly or Mascapone to the icing to make it a tad creamier LOL but then again maybe it's meant to be more of a glaze type icing... oh well a bit of trial and error makes you a smarter cook in the long run I guess.
DH also just sent me an sms love poem (5 stanzas!) that he wrote for me on the train into work this morning! LOL I texted back that "How on earth could you write that after my crabbiness yesterday?" hehe gotta love him.
Amanda I see you're still online... how's your day going darl?
Simone: I read your "username" thread... hope your meeting today went ok. I was going to recommend that you only speak to your XH with a witness/liason person from now on until everything is completely sorted. Having been a child from a similar relationship as yours (my mother and an evil step father) I know that there's probably some tough times ahead.
Cuppa time...
sorry dont have time for personals i just had to tell 2 kids that they had to leave our house so Nixon could go to sleep! They popped over but wouldn't leave & i was just about to start clening up!
Nixon had a hearing test today, just a follow up because he had a few risk factors (prematurity, time in Nicu, was vetillated, jaundice & dh born with some hearing loss) But she said he did really well. she used a different pitched sound then normal for that test as he wasnt really reacting to it but she wasnt overly concerned. he will probably have anther test in 12months and then again at about 3.5yrs.
Hi guys
Well its my big baby's birthday today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHELSEA!!! Thanks girls for you birthday wishes. She is very excited. Took her to McDonalds today with 3 of her friends, they had a ball playing for 3 hours on the equipment. She is just relaxing now watching a DVD.
Jess - bugger about the infection, hope it clears for you soon. HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY TIM. What a bargain for his present but had to laugh at the postage! Hope it was still cheaper than normal for you.
Nickers - bet you are glad DH is back home. Hope the land hunting went well.
Karen - sorry to hear Luke isn't well, hope he is better today. Definately get some MooGoo - its miracle cream. Two of my GF's are combining their order with me, after seeing how good Marley's head is, they are convinced!
Simone - good luck at the meeting. Just remember to stay calm and focussed. Your mum is probably just excited to be having her daughter and grand kids home again.
Bath - sorry to hear you are having a bad day! Glad to hear the kids have calmed down for you. I think they know when we have off days and try to make it worse LOL!!! Maybe the brown sugar lets off more syrup when cooked? How did the potato salad go? What am extremely sweet thing of DH to do - just creating a poem is good enough, but creating it on the train is even better. Hope that lifted your spirits.
Amanda - sometimes I find it much easier to ignore their crappy comments, but I can understand why you bit back, its not a very nice thing to hear. They are very good at pushing buttons! The cake was great, I did take a picture of Chelsea with it but you may not be able to see it very well. I just did a big square one as I ran out of time but I did cover it in the flowers. I will make the "4" on Saturday. I will try to upload pic or email it to you.
DH has just got back from his bike ride (he goes back to work tomorrow after having 3 weeks off - yeah!!!) and is going to take Chelsea for a swim (she got new bathers for her birthday). Might be time for a coffee!
Hiya Mel and Nic :)
Nic: Yep I'm sure Nixon's hearing will be fine, he's very responsive isn't he?
Mel: Had to laugh at : "DH put up her new slide last night and hid it down the side of the house and forgot to shut the gate. She found it this morning and ran in the house screaming that she had found a slide". LOL! so it sounds like she had a lovely day and what a perfect afternoon for a swim. My day's turned out much better... quite serene now infact :) But I tried to send you an email but it's still not working grrrrr
Off to hang another load...
Well the party is over and now we are relaxing at home in front of our "pool". We go onto Stage 3 restrictions tomorrow so we are making the most of the pool while we can. Its only a little rectangle pool but all of us get in at some time during the day, so it's worth it.
All except for three kids came to his party and I invited 8, Tim was happy so I wasn't worried.I bought a pinata and filled it with lollies and toys and then I let the kids loose..well it was cool until Kate decided to pull all the strings and it ame crashing down, loolies and toys went EVERYWHERE!!!!!!
I cheated with the cake though, I bought him a Holden edible decoration ($6 at Coles) and my Aunt made him a nice butter cake to go with it.Well better pop off now, kids want to jump in the pool.... Glad things are better for you Simone.
Hiya Jess, Sounds like Tim's had a lovely day too :) Did he like his jeep? At least his pinata gave up the goods! Wade's didn't work... even adult men had a hard time bashing it hard enough to break... must get an authentic one like Ik suggested next time!
Niall is out the back having nappy free time...better go scoop that mouthful of grass out of his mouth!
Mel I do usually ignore him when he gets like that, but I'd had enough by the time he called me an imbicile so I let fly, I hate to admit it but it felt good to yell at him, I can tune out to most things but been insulted is not one of them, but like I said it's all good now.
Bath sorry DH came home for lunch so I missed you, glad to hear that you are having a better day today, I'm going to make IK's slice later this week.
Well Cody woke up from his nap this afternoon and he has learnt to blow raspberries, the cheeky little man, I was browsing thru BB and he was in the pram beside me and he just started to do it. I also forgot to say that it's my mum's birthday today as well.
Just got home again - my horse has a message: what drought?? He is plump and has dapples...where is he hiding his stash of food, I wonder? It was lovely, even though the hills are shrouded in smoke, and Oscar was fascinated, as usual :)
Oh, and I just spoke to the lovely manager of the cinema in Boronia, who said that if I took Oscar to an early session and I couldn't watch the entire film because of unsettledness, that I could then ask at the office about a refund or a pass to come back again! Mel, the guy's name is Tom (but he said to cite a 'Cynthia' as well), if you ever need to do this and another employee says you can't - he said to say I had spoken to them about it. That sort of an attitude deserves a plug! They are online, for movie times - metroboronia dot com dot au.
Ok, now, today's posts:
Amanda - like the others, I can see why you bit back! That comment was totally uncalled for...as if you didn't already know that not bringing a nappy bag wasn't a good idea! DP and I don't really do this to one another, although he'll go as far as to say something like "That was a bit silly, wasn't it?". I think I avoid saying non-constructive things like this because of the way my mum used to react to me when I'd make a mistake (I don't think she'd do it now, but when we were kids she didn't show much restraint), and also, what's the point? Does it even make the mutterer feel any better having said it? Cos it sure as hell doesn't do a damn thing to help the situation at hand. Anyway, I don't think your letting fly at him was totally unjustified (sorry for all the double negatives!), so enjoy it for a bit ;)
Jess - please drink loads of water tomorrow! It will help with the healing and will keep you cooler and better able to deal with all those kids on school holidays!
Nic - we all know that Nixon suffers no ill-effects from being a premmie baby! And I'll say it again, I do love how he just entertains himself quietly and serenely!
Bath - my slice was a fluke, so I wouldn't know how to further advise. I added some currants to my mix, probably why it was a bit thicker. I also don't think the flour I used was wholemeal - I just used what was in the flour tin, as it's not labelled apart from saying 'flour'! I found spreading the base and top quite tedious, even using a wooden spoon. Might make it again and see what happens for a 'take two'. I'm glad you feel more serene, too - I feel quite serene after my horsey time.
Oscar's awake again...gotta go!
PML I heard Wade calling me from out the back with desperation in his voice... but for the life of me I couldn't see or find him... so I walked up past the BBQ and there he was sitting amongst the agapanthus! When he saw me he said "Mum! mum it's so deep in here!" LOL I pulled him out... bees were feeding from the flowers... that's the last thing he needs, another bee sting.
Hiya IK: hmmm, currants, I like that idea! And yeah i just used plain flour too... i'm gonna send verity down to the IGA and buy some raw sugar and have a Ground Hog Day experience making it again tomorrow! See if I can get it right LOL Oh and I spread the base with a spatula-like knife and a dessert spoon... easier than a wooden one.
uh oh... back in a tic...
Hey, had a call from my sister this arvo all excited! She sent kelly through some pics and her details re that advertising agency that was looking for a 7-8month old. Anyway the agency rang her this arvo and Alyssa has a photo shoot tomorrow at 10am! If she is succesful the shoot is on Friday or Saturday. Fingers crossed for Alyssa!! I think there are 3 other BB babies that might have gotten a call back so hopefully one of them gets the add.
Its for a St George bank add and there will be 2 babies in it.
Bath- oh god imagine Wade getting stung again,,,, definatley doesnt need that.
is it just me or is melbourne the hottest state of late?
just seen the rest of the week is going to be in the mid-high 30's...... Sydney and brissy looked like they are in for some lovely mid-high 20's all week.
Yeah it seems that way Nic... and I came down here for the cooler weather... well not really, but it was a bonus. Goodluck Alyssa! hope she gets paid more than Verity did for her TV ad... she was only in the background though.. $175 for a full day's hanging around. Still it's a real thrill when the ad comes on TV! LOL verity's ad (for Strongbow Cider... she was a kid jumping on a trampoline in a 'cricket in the backyard at Mum's' scenario) was screened during the 2004 Rugby World Cup TV broadcast... so I watched the whole game just so that i wouldn't miss the ads! LOL
Shower time with Niall...
Jess - sounds like a good party. We are planning on getting a pinata too - might have to prebreak it just so it works LOL!!
Amanda - Cody is clever and they look so cute spitting everywhere trying to do them!! Happy birthday to your mum too. Thats 5 people so far that have birthdays today.
IK - MIL always goes there as she gets free tea/coffee with her seniors card LOL!!!! They recently renovated it and the movies are quite cheap compared with Village. I used to go to Knox for the mums n bubs sessions and that was fun. They have the lights on low and they had a change table at the back and the sound was also lower. Will definately go and check out Boronia one. Thanks for the tip. My brother just went to see Blood Diamond and The Holiday and he said they were both fantastic movies.
Bath - I'm PML imagining Wade sticking his head up amongst the aggies!!! Mine have heaps of bees so he was lucky they didn't get him. I could imagine that being quiet fun playing in them. Good luck with Groundhog Day Slice #2! Let us know how it goes.
Nic - how cool about Alyssa. I hope she gets it. The weather is going to be ridiculous this week - 39 tomorrow. I was supposed to have Chelsea's immunisation done but I might give it a miss, I don't want to leave the house!!! DH has his first day back at work tomorrow - I am sure he would rather be at his mums swimming LOL!!! Chelsea's party is on Saturday and it was supposed to be 24 with a few showers, now its 32 with a few showers which means a humid, muggy day - GREAT. Missed your post earlier about Nixons hearing test - glad he did well.
Off to watch Nip/Tuck and I will pop back on later.
Mel if you go to Big W you can buy the string pull ones. It's open at the top and the kids pull the strings to rip the bottom out!!!!!!! They really loved it even when Kate ripped three strings out, it dropped on thr ground anf toys and lollies went everywhere!
Very slow in here today, not much to report here, just about to go and hang out some washing, yay how fun (not). Ok will be back soon.
hugs xoxo
Well, just a yucky hot day here - meant to be like 40. Already 36 here, didnt realise and went to let Matisse in and get the washing off the line... Washing can stay out there until this evening!!
Kids just went to bed, they are so grumpy. Since Ryan left, they've been coming into my room at like 5am every morning... and they dont go back to sleep. Since im on here until ike 1am (and then reading in bed because i cant sleep until like 3am) im very tired... but just cant sleep. Everything just keeps running through my head...
Hi Amanda, I've just come inside from hanging washing too... starting to warm up... have closed all the curtains so that the front part of the house is dark and cool.
Mel: is Marley's scalp continuing to improve?
Jess: Hope you've found somewhere cool today. The worst part about hot days is having to chase after toddlers isn't it? It's so much easier to cope with when they are immobile babies or older kids who know that slowing down is the best way to deal with the heat.... but that realisation doesn't really arrive until they are about 7 or 8 hey?
Sorry missed your post Simone... bed sounds like a good place for them to be during the hotest part of the day... hope they have long naps. Sounds like you need to fill your head with some other stuff to get your mind off your challenges... maybe try reading some inspirational self help books before bed? I can give you a long reading list if you want... it's not all heavy going... there's an excellent and funny one by John Cleese and a family counsellor that you might find interesting ATM.... it's really easy to read at that time of night and will give your mind something positive to dwell upon overnight if you wake up. I know it must be hard, but going to bed when the kids are asleep or at least by 10pm might be extra important at the moment Sim. Things are harder to deal with if you are sleep deprived.... plus your immune system will be affected by the extra stress... anyhow, you don't need a lecture. Good to hear things are nice and calm at your place today though :) Remember, baby steps!
Huge crash in Wade's room...
Jess - i hope the infection is settling down. Im trying to think of more for my austprem birth story, but have had an awful headache from too much thinking and cant think straight right now...
Bath - Xander and declan have been pretty good today, just playing quietly with their thomas train set all morning, and i just put them both down for their day time naps, They've been up since stupid AM, so they should sleep for a couple of hours...
nixon has been asleep for 2hrs now and still going! actually now wanting him to wake up as we have to leave here in about 20mins.
Bath- hope nothing was broken in Wade's room
Simone- if u cannot sleep at night, if u get all the kids down during the day maybe u should try and have a cat nap aswell, even if its just 20min or something, it really helps.
ive also got all the blinds etc shut trying to keep this aweful heat out. just about to put some washing out, will prob dry within half and hour.
Once again Wade tried to climb up his shelves. They are taller than me and if the shelves were solid rather than supported by metal pins it would have tipped over on top of him. instead the shelves that he was standing on, and the ones below it just slid off the pins sending him and the toys to the floor. I can't stress enough how important it is to have safe shelving girls! You can't be everywhere and they WILL try to climb them, there's just no stopping them. So have wall unit shelving or ones on pins that will slide off. Don't just have a freestanding unit that's tall in their rooms.... it will crash down on them and could be tradgic!
I'm thinking about just taking me and Allie (who just got out) into my bed and just reading a book, i cant sleep during the day, not matter how hard i try.
BBS, boys are playing around... Wish they would just GO TO SLEEP!
Jess - thanks for the suggestion for the pinate, will head to Big W this week.
Amanda - its stinking hot down here today and my washing was dry in 1 hour this morning. Got two more loads to go out. Does washing ever end???
Bath - Marley's scalp is amazing! I have been rubbing it in morning and night and its just about gone. Only a couple of little spots but I am sure they will disappear soon. I have nearly run out of Rory's pharmacy cream which has been great too. I haven't put any cortisone on her for a few days now. Its been really good, but got a little red today. Glad to hear Wade is OK after his daredevil adventures. I agree, you have to be so careful with shelves or wallunits, bookcases etc.
Nic - its so typical that they sleep more when you don't want them too LOL!!! The heat tends to send them to sleep too. Stay cool!
Simone - don't stay up so late and try to get some rest. Bath's suggestion of some good self help books is a good one. Fill your head with positive things. Hope the kids chill out for you today.
Set my alarm to get up early today otherwise my day starts too late. Got up and had shower, put washing on and got kids organised then headed out to get some shopping. Poor Marley was dragged in and out of the car and into the Bjorn as I had to go to a couple of different places. Aldi have bananas for $1.99kg and they are rippers. Also got Chelsea a big sketch pad for $2 which she has been doing lots of drawings for me. Its so funny because she has never been able to draw faces before but recently everything has big eyes and a huge mouth! She wants to do her watercolours next. Got to go and get her 4 yo immunisation today. It's only 2 streets away from me, so hopefully the hot weather will keep most people away. She seems OK with it all at the mo, I told her we could go swimming afterwards - maybe thats whats keeping her calm.
Stay cool everyone.
Hi all,
It looks like I've been lurking, but I haven't been - I posted in one thread and then my GF and her 2yo came over and I didn't close the browser! Anyway, I'm all caught up now on the thread.
Washing - trying to avoid going outside at all! I think MIL has our big antique laundry tub and I'd like to put Oscar in it, doh! She took it when we went away because she was going to hang all the washing that was in it for us at her place. There was another basket, too, and that one came back...but that's no good for splashing in!
Had a lovely catch up with my GF, we ate strawberries, dip, crackers, lychees, chockie bikkies...mmm!
Simone - it must be weird having all that free headspace, no wonder you're filling it with all sorts of thoughts! I agree, reading about how to turn negatives into positives is really helpful. If you can get your hands on 'The Journey', by Brandon Bays, it's a good read (my copy is still lent out, unfortunately!). I am glad that you have finally made the break you needed :)
Mel - at least you didn't take Chelsea on her birthday! Hope it's not too hot to walk to the clinic...
I'm going to put this sleeping boy down and make some phone calls to organise a few things before DP gets back tomorrow. It's like a race against time now! I've also been running around like a mad thing trying to find ways to reuse the water from the house into the garden. I'm washing my dishes at the end of the day, and then in a rectangle bucket, leaving the used water (if not too dirty) in that bucket and putting all the next day's dishes in that. When comes time to wash them, take them all out, put that water into a big bucket nearby, wash my dishes in new water and start again. The old water then goes into a bigger collecting bucket outside until I have enough that I can still carry the bucket and then disperse it into the garden. Sometimes this happens when it's dark already, but that's better because the water doesn't evaporate.
I'm going to see about reclaiming an old feed bin of mine that I left at my parents' that they don't use. I'm going to collect washing machine water and shower water in it and use that for the backyard - just bucketing it out over the natives (that's all that we have in the back, and some of them have carked it!). This year DP will install a greywater system. Can't wait for recycled water...although I'll probably be 70 when that happens...
I'm also not flushing the loo if it's only pee, but flush it when the loo paper starts to look like it needs to go somewhere (dont' need a blockage!). Showering with Oscar seems the way to go, too. I reckon that by implementing these measures I'm doing my bit for the water crisis. And I like the manual labour aspect - I'll have to do manual labour when we're on a farm, anyway!
Ok, better go and see to my list of things to do...
IK - i keep one bucketload of water from the washing machien and tip a little bit into the toilet when i've finished - saves flushing!! Do you know that only using a half flush compared to a ful flush saves 17 cups of drining water??
A-ha! Thanks Sim - there's another idea I'm going to use right away! I've always wondered, since I was a kid, why there's perfectly good drinking water in the loo...
Not a prob IK, glad to help you on your quest to save the earth ;)
Well, its officially hit 40 here, and im dying, i have such a headache... i hate hot weather - thats why i moved to melbourne (it always seemed to be so cold over here!!) Somebody was lying wen they broadcasted the weather report each night, i never saw any hot days...
Sim, you never listened to the weather report in January! It hots up until March, typically. THEN it gets cold enough to wear funky winter gear ;)
Buggar, i should've watched more weather reports!! Oh well, i just have to swelter here then...
its about 43 here... our evap has been going full throatal all day but the house is still 29 and thats certain areas, ive tried shutting any doors that dont need the cool air (like the room i am sitting in right now!)
mel- i bought the nana's the other day from aldi $1.99kg Nixon is loving them! nice big ones too. i also got a full watermelon is was something like 0.99kg?? anyway thats nice too.
just caught up with our girlfriend and her twins, Nixon was facinated by them, as are most people! he is back asleep again, the heat does make him sleep more.
anyway gotta get out of this room too hot.
hi all,
Sim - sorry I've been away but wanted to let you know that I'm sorry your going through a hard time. A few of us here are divorsed (inc me), and it was the best thing we ever did. It is such a hard time, but for me after about 3 or 4 months I realised that it was so much better to be single. Good luck with in, it is a long road, but steps in the right direction will see you through.
IK - when I lived in the US they had a saying "if it is yellow it is mellow, if it is brown flush it down".. So I've been only flushing the brown... I have however been caught out when guests arrive - so you have to remember to flush sometimes!
Hello to everyone else - sorry I'm so tired I can't remember anything else...
So my cousin has 4 month old twins who we visited on Sunday and on Monday they were diagnosed with Chicken Pox... Which probably means Ally has chicken pox.. which probably means the 12 babies at Mum & Bubs Yoga today have chicken pox and the 11 babies who were at mothers group this afternoon now have Chicken Pox.... I've left a message for my doctor to call me to see if I need to contact everyone and a) apologise and b) let them be on the look out for red dots... darn what a pain.
going to look on the internet for more information on the pox!
thanks CC :) hopefully ally doesnt get chicken pox...
nic - i missed out on the nana's, but got magoes at 69c each, and nectarines $2kg. Anneliese loves both not sure of bananas though!! I could so go some watermelon right now, the one at rory's house was so nice and cool, and im just so hot right now... the onl one wearing anything is Anneliese (and thats only a nappy) as the house is about 35*C+ and very stuffy.
Hey girls, I feel rather guilty as my place is nice and cool (sorry girls!!), I am so glad I forked out money for a big split system air conditioner. Was even thinking of splurging and getting 2 small ones for the kids rooms. Took Chelsea to her immunization and she was such a brave girl. No tears, I think she sucked them in LOL!! The nurse was amazed how good she was, then she went up and said "thank you' when we left which they couldn't stop laughing about. Took her to MIL for a swim, just got home now. Thankfully we still have power but half of Melb has no power and over 1000 sets of traffic lights out too. DH has been asked to work back - one his first day back and in this heat.
IK - I cheated and drove to the clinic - far too hot to walk! Good on you for being water wise. Every little bit helps. We put buckets in the shower, empty the bath with buckets, use the washing machine water and the no flush rule (Chelsea never flushes anyway as she thinks the toilet is too loud!). All of it goes on my lawn out back & pot plants. My back garden is full of very big, drought tolerant plants which is great, water about 1 each fortnight.
Nic - evap cooling really struggles on such hot days like today, thankfully we don't have many of them. Just stay confined to one room, hopefully you are cool enough in there. Or do what Amanda or Karen did last week and sit in the bath with some nice cool water.
CC - Chelsea had chicken pox when she was 2. I don't even know where she got it from as no other kids at kinder had it! Some might be lucky and not get it as I don't think that everyone who had contact with her will automatically get it. The disease is most contagious prior to any spots appearing (usually 10-14 days before you see any spots) and if the spots are weepy. We just had to wash her in Pinetarsol (which stinks!) and stop her scratching, she did have some breathing difficulties at the beginning but that required only cough medicine. It was just frustrating keeping her home for about 2 weeks - she was going nuts!! She was not unwell so it was even more frustrating for her. Good luck, I hope Ally doesn't get it, nor the other kids!
Simone - feel so sorry for you suffering in that hot house - I would be going to the shops and hanging out there for a while, go get the kids an icecream or somthing. Anything to get out of the heat!
Better go make dinner, have no idea when DH is going to be home!
Hey mel - good on chelsea for being so brave!! I dont have the car, i didnt expect it to get this hot and lent it to ryan (he had no other way to get to work and i wasnt getting up early to do it!!) He also has it tomorrow. SIL wants me to go to the pools with her tomorrow, but i told her no, as how am i safely meant to watch 3 children who cant swim?? She doesnt think sometimes...
Thank god i still have power!! I had one bit where i thought we were going to lose it (the lights were struggling for about 1 minute), but its been fine since then.
Made some weird concoction Declan loves - i used the iceblock i usually defrost for allies dinner, and blended them until they were in little bits (still frozen) added some water iceblocks and whizzed them up too, then added some milk. gave some to declan and making the rest into ice cream. Made a mango and plum one, strange tasting, but im going to do it with strawberries when i can get to the shops...
Mel: Chelsea sounds like a real darling.. thanks for the info on the pox... Ally feels a little hot today, but maybe just the heat? We are going to get air cond this summer... Just need to go and choose the system then get it approved by Body Corporate, then get it installed, so it could take a while.....
Sim: agree that it would be way to dangerous at the pool with three... My cousin was at a pool on the weekend and a 18 month old was found floating face down, not breathing, luckily a doctor was there, who revived the child and the lifeguard got a call from the Hospital and told all the other people at the pool that it was going to be allright.. But her two little boys were very upset.. She said that so many people were crying and stuff... she seems quiet upset too (who wouldn't)!
would have loved to got real aircon b ut only had enough money for evap at the time. its definatley better then not having it but yeah on such a hot day ti struggles and only brings temp down about 10degrees.
so inside is still 28. Nixon had a nice cool long bath and been just in a nappy all arvo.
CC- oh that would have been terrible seeing the baby in the water and being revived, how quickly it can happen too, glad she heard she is going to be ok.
heaps of melb have no power, luckily we are not one of them. lucky simone it didnt go out.
Simone - it would be madness trying to watch the kids at the pool tomorrow as they would be packed! Maybe put them in the bath and let them make mess and splash around!!! You could jump in too! So good you didn't lose power, my GF in Wheelers Hill did and she had to go to her mums, she has an 8 week old DS who she was worried about in the heat and her house has heaps of glass, so gets super hot without air con. Love my air con!!! Your concoction sounds good.
Nic - anything that will cool you is better than nothing. I gave Marley heaps of nudie time today but she rolled over twice and went from the rug to the tiles and banged her head so she was not happy! Its the first time she has ever rolled more than once - have to watch her now.
CC - fingers crossed Ally misses the chicken pox. Air con is fabulous but we only have it in our family room/kitchen and our front lounge room which Chelsea uses. Its not that expensive to run either but I am relieved we have it on a day like today. Hope your don't have hassles with the Body Corporate - they can be buggers sometimes.
DH got home about 7.30 and was so hot he wanted to go straight to his mums for a swim. Chelsea had to go too, of course! They aren't back yet so they must be having fun. I was going to go with them but Marley was getting cranky and wanted to go to bed. I just have a fan in her room so hopefully she won't be too hot tonight.
I also had to move Chelseas party from Saturday to Sunday! It is going to be 38 on Saturday and just far too hot to have kids running around outside playing games. Sunday is going to 24 with thunderstorms (supposidley) which is a better option. I have done the ring around tonight and left messages with people, hopefully they can all make it - bloody weather!!!
My power went out at about 7, so I packed my pre-purchased chicken (what foresight!), my pre-prepared couscous, tomatoes and watermelon and headed to the firestation...good call! By the time I got home, at 9, all power back on, all is well and I'm sinking a beer.
DP is in Vic, they got flown back from the ACT and they have no power. He got to chat to the Chairman, though, as well as some other movers and groovers. I'll see him tomorrow!
Oscar's nude and has had some laundry tin time...
