Babies Born in June 2006 #38

Well Kailen got his stitches out yesterday, the doctor said it's looking good. Cody had his needles yesterday, he had a bit of a hard time this time, they put his MMR in his arm then one in each leg. They did his right arm and leg first and he cried and I turned him so that they could do his left leg and once he saw the needle coming he just bawled. I thought it was so funny that he was crying just at the sight of the needle, poor bub.

Donna congrats on the BFP.

Dee I'm sure you and the girls will put on a great party for Nathan this arvo, we will have to organise a meet upwhen you have some free time.

Mel glad the cakes turned out great, have/are you going to take any pics of them? Hope you all enjoy your special dinner tonight.

Bath it's been sooo windy up here as well, I've just kept the boys inside today so I know how you feel. I also can't imagine you looking bedraggled.

IK are you also having a special party/dinner tonight for Oscar? How are the assignments going?

Hi Girls I've been busy with my 2 cuties and trying to organize this weekends 1st birthday bash for Indiana on her real birthday the 24th. I'll let you all how it goes next Monday.
Hopefully it should go smoothly.

Indy is so close to standing all by herself and that much closer to walking too. God it is just all happening too quickly!! Might happen on her B-Day!!

Feeling so emotional this week with the celebrating and reality of the lost baby....plus listen to this doozy. Cameron was having a sleep over on Saturday night and my parents place and I have been growing his hair for some time now, tempted to chop but waiting out the ugly in between stage, then my dad delivered him back on sunday and mum had a go on hi fringe!!! ARRRRGGGGHHH I almost cried, literally, but pulled it together for him coz he was looking at me saying 'Mummy, Babi(thats what we call my mum) cut my hair' and I was like 'Yes she did. (But)You are (still)such a handsome boy' - the brackets are what I was thinking not saying to his cute little face.

Ok thats my emotional outburst. oooo that feels better

Ohhh mumzy :hugs:, sweety, and Did your mum know you were deliberately trying to grow it longer? Feeling older, huh, I am older, lol, wait til they start with puberty and all that good stuff begins, lol, hmmmm.

Nathan Xavier was born on 19th June, Monday night at 7.08pm after a 3 and a half hour labour and 3 pushes

Nathan was 7lb 9 oz 3.4kg

He is gorgeous and healthy and a very placid baby and absolutely adored by his 4 older sisters
Hmm when I take him to the clinic next week, Ill have to get him weighed and measured, he's a big boy, I rekon he's heavier than Melissa. Lol

But that pic i think your talking about was at a wedding in nov last yr, i had my hair done (was extremly happy with it) and also had a fake spary tan. just goes to show why the celebs always look top notch they get to spend a fortune everytime they step out of the house.

well i had my OB appoint today, all is going well, will update on my pg journal.
mumzy- i would have been pretty peeved at someone cutting my childs hair out of their own accord without asking first. but atleast it will grow back soon i suppose. Not the point though is it

Amanda- Nixon went through the same as Cody with the 12m needles had both legs and an arm jabbed and by the time the arm needle was coming he knew what was going on. He litteraly sobbed for a good 5 mins afterwards, then when he stopped one of the nurses pulled the tab off his arm which was coming off, that started him up again!

Bath - will take pics of canvases tomorrow, everytime I remember to take them, Marley is asleep!!

Amanda - poor Cody, those needles must look pretty scary to a little fella! Glad to hear Kailen got his stitches out ok, did it leave any scaring? Will take pics of the cake I do for Saturday (once I finally work out what I'm doing with them LOL!!), the ones today, I just iced and put sprinkles on (Chelsea helped).

Isabelle - how frustrating, I can totally understand why you are upset. I would be pretty angry if my Mum did that. Its one of those things that you would never get done without asking. Like Nic said, hopefully it will grow back soon. I remember my dad doing that with my youngest brother, he got him the worst crew cut ever and my mum went ballistic, he looked like a real rough head! Thankfully it grew back quickly and dad was never allowed to take him to the hairdresser ever again!

7th - what a beautiful ticker pic! You have such a lovely family. Nathan must love being doted on by his big sisters.

Nic - glad the ob app went well. How is Nixon doing with his ulcers?

We had a nice quiet, family celebration tonight. Marley enjoyed her cake and squashing it into a million pieces! Chelsea wanted to sing happy birthday 3 times and blow out the candle 3 times too, I swear she is more excited about this birthday than anyone. When I picked her up from kinder today, the teacher told me that Chelsea had made Marley a present. It was all Chelsea's idea and she wanted to make a book. She did all the drawings and one of her teachers put her words in. It is so cute, she has her and Marley on the front cover and inside is Shrek and Fiona, Mum and Dad, marley and her cake. The teacher said she went to so much trouble doing it and was very excited to show me. I was so proud of her, to think of her baby sister like that, it was very touching.

For the new ones here, I found my birth story and as some of us have already shared theres, I thought I would too. I enjoyed reading it again.

I am sure you will have a wonderful birth story to share, one which we will all be waiting to read.

The cake was made with no eggs or dairy, it has flour, sugar, vanilla, lemon juice, cocoa powder, oil and water. They were really nice too, so moist. I was a bit suss if they were going to turn out but thankfully they did. The icing is dairy free spread, soy milk and icing sugar.

Have just been watching the news and the storms look bad again in Sydney? How is the weather your way?

Thanks for your birthday wishes for Ruby! I'm also still breastfeeding her, so very happy about that!

We are all having an awesome holiday in Qld and very happy to leave the foul Sydney weather behind (hope our dog is ok!) WE are loving being able to focus just on our girls and spend lots of time with them.
We completely forgot it was Ruby's birthday (POOR #2 baby) but Christy (who we are visiting) made Ruby a cake (in a star of course!) and we celebrated out the front of DreamWorld before we all went in for the day!

Christy's bubby Jovie is I think 7 months, and she and Ruby are pretty much the same size! She is still very little, but damn cute! Am in Brisbane for another week with Christy, till we go home so will catch up with you all then!

Nic - sounds like you are having such a hard time with somethings. Hang in there.

Good luck 7th and Ik with your exams I have no idea how you can have any brain space for that (see above. re. forgetting my daughters birthday... but we are on holiday...)

Can you believe our bubbies are turning one??? It has just FLOWN by hasn't it! Remember when racoon and Nic and bellasmum were having their babies early and we thought we'd NEVER get to the end of our pregnancies?

7th - the photos are gorgeous! I can't believe how much of a big boy Nathan looks. He has so many teeth, I think thats what makes him look older. The family photo is so cute, your kids are all beautiful. Hope the girls enjoyed their disco!

Nickel - thats fantastic you are still breastfeeding. PML about forgetting Ruby's b'day!!! Goes to show how relaxed your are on holidays. I am envious of you enjoying the warm weather, Melb weather has been icy lately.

Marley is still being a cranky bum, not sure if she is still not well (temp etc is fine) or just cranky!!! Been doing some shopping at the sales the past 2 days, snapping up some bargains! Went to Chadstone today and got Marley's b'day outfit (actually bought her 2!) and some things for Chelsea. Lots of good bargains. My GF in Japan sent Marley's present and it arrived today, it was a gorgeous Oobi Baby hat (with pom poms on the top!) and a lavender scented lamb that she can sleep with. They are both so cute. Just waiting for her to wake up so I can try it on!

My younger brother got tickets to the tv show "Thank God You're Here", so we are going to the taping tonight at 7pm. I have seen the show a few times and its very funny, so I am looking forward to it. I'm even more stoked that he asked his big sis instead of one of his mates.

HI all- I am still alive jsut really under the pump at the moment to get things done. I have missed ocming in here and catching up on everyones news so I have made a big effort to sit down this arvo while Tori is sleeping and try and catch up.

First I wantd to say congrats to Donna- wooohoo on a BFP, shame we cant be belly buddies again, its funny I still remember being in the TTC thread with you last time and getting our 1st BFP's around the same time.

Dee- I hope you are coping well with DH being away. I dont know how you do it, especially with studying as well. How did your first prac go? Do you have to do any more?

Julie- I hope that you have coped alright htis week without DH. I remeber when my DH was going away shearing when we first moved back to perth (and he was only gone 2 nights at a time) I would stand at the front door crying my eyes out as he drove downt he street.

Mel- I cant remember if I thanked you for the photo of Chelsea's photo fram cake, It looks awesome. I just hope mine turns out as well. I think the first priority will to go and by a cake tin :redface: , or least one in the right shape.

Big Hello and Hugs to everyone else, and lots of birthday wishes for all of those I have missed. I have to agree with all the comments on the weather, it has just been foul. This house is so cold as well, i just want to be warm.

As for us we are all doing ok, I have been unwell again this week- just had a day of bad m/s on Tues, I had to come home from work beause I thought Iw as going to spew (and I didnt want to scare the kids), but other than that i am ok, just hanging out for school holidays.
Tori is going great guns now, she walks everywhere, not interested in crawling at all anymore. She has decided she is a big girl now and can feed her self, doesnt really like to eat anything off a spoon. She is loving Daycare to which is great, although she is going down to one day a week next term because I have changed my hors so I am only oging in 3 days a week.
We are moving house (again) next weekend, I will be so glad to be moved.Hopefully it will be the last timefor a while ( I am even going ot get rid of the packing boxes).
We are taking Tori to AQWA (which is a big aqurium just north or perth) for her birthday on saturday, we decided we wanted to spend her actual birthday just the three of us, then on Sunday we are having a little party at my mum and Dad's place for her and next week she is having her morning tea with Lucas.

Anyway I glad to see that everyone is doing fairly well, and it is great to see some faces that have been missing for a while. If I go awol for a while it is just because we are moving and getting our internet etc reconnected, but after that I will try and get in more regularly.

Hi All,

Sorry no time for personals im absolutley buggered.
Just to let you know i took Nixon back to the docs today as he has gotten worse and i was quiet worried about him through the night.
He now has broncitis. his cough is so hard to hear makes me wanna cry everytime i hear him cough. I got home from work to pick him up and he barely could manage a smile for me. Mum minded him all day and said he slept about 5hrs through out the day. Ate a little and by arvo was quiet lathargic. His eyes were all red and heavy. I was up every 3-4 hrs trying to help him with panadol/nurofen, vicks on the chest, vaporizer, cough releif etc.

today he has slept for about 5hrs during the day again and as we hit the arvo he has gone downhill. I put him in the shower this arvo so the steam might help and he said there with his head down, eyes shut and did not move the whole time. he just wanted to cuddle into me while drying him, went straight to bed at 5pm. woke at 6pm he had a little to eat and drink and fell asleep in my arms again by 6.45pm.

i spent 3 hrs this arvo cleaning the house like its prob never been cleaned before. i cleaned all of nixon's toys to then asked MIl not keep the animals downstairs for the rest of the day. only to then find the cat in nixons cot......

so anyway in the last 7 weeks since moving nixon has had a cold, middle ear infection, conjunctivitis, hand foot and mouth and now broncitis.
He hasnt been this sick since he was a newborn and i am convinced it is the living environment. I am fed up with it and currenlty looking for a place to rent.

sorry for rambling but DH is getting wined and dined in Maimi U.S and im trying to do this all on my own, i know its not his fault but i cant help being a little annoyed something always goes on when he goes away.

Nic - you're making me teary...get the hell out of there! I can not BELIEVE the cat was in Nixon's cot, honey! We are all willing you to find a place where you can be yourself, Nixon can be happy and healthy and you can be happy again :hug:
Just a quickie, so much to catch up on - was so tired after exam that I crashed at my dad's and waited for DP to collect us! Just got home before...might BBL or tomorrow after 2nd exam...

Isn't it always the way that things happen when DP isn't around, not fair really. Is he home soon? I hope the weekend brings some smiles for you and Nixon.

7th - show was awesome! I haven't laughed so much in ages. It goes to air in mid July. Its the first episode of the new series.

Just got home from the taping of Thank God You're Here (comedy show on Ch 10 for those that don't know it) and it was such fun. Tickets were free and when we left, we got a free show bag with a CD, trash mag, drink, chips, chocolate and post-its! I love free nights out LOL!!! My brother rang for the tickets almost 12 months ago so it takes ages to get them. It is amazing to see how many people and how much work goes into taping a 1 hour show. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and I loved every minute. Show goes to air in mid July and its the first episode of the new series. We sat up the back so not sure if I will be able to see myself (which might be a good thing LOL!!!).

not a typo – I just worded it really badly – he has been going away a few times a month since we have been in Aus (4 or 5 years)! But yes even the 4 days he has been away this week does feel like 4 years!! Yay for Niall sleeping through too – Until 8am – I am so envious – I am lucky if Will sees 6am these days (although I just bring him in bed with us and feed him then DH often get up with him and gives me a lie-in so can’t really complain). From the photos on your site I can’t imagine you doing ‘bedragled’ either!

Emishka – yay for Caitlyn sleeping through too.

Mel – Might have to arrange a get together for Will and Marley when they’re older as maybe if she’s not going to be too tall herself she wouldn’t mind a short boyfriend hehe – Will was only 70cm and 8.2kg last month!!! Looking forward to seeing pickies of Marley’s canvases, she sounds like she had a lovely birthday. That was so nice of Chelsea to make the book up for Marley – she must really love her little sister. I read your birth story – wow – that must have been so scary getting there expecting the epi then nope – shes on her way now! Sounds like you did an amazing job though – ol on keeping your eyes shut – I think I would have been the same.

Amanda – Poor Cody and his needles, I am dreading taking Will – it will be me crying at just the sight of the needles (DH has to hold him though as I just can’t and get too upset – then I give him a big cuddle and feed afterwards – James reckon Will gives him dagger looks for days after! Hehe). My DH is a Geochemist for CSIRO but mainly computational modeling of fluid systems for predicting mineral placements. (I am so proud of him – he was diagnosed as severely dyslexic at Uni so was helped there but all through school he’d been told how he was never going to get anywhere and to drop his chemistry A level as he was so rubbish at it (not their words) – I would love him to go back to a reunion now and go up to the teachers who were so rotten to him and say something like – it’s Dr James now and I’m a senior geochemist so v-sign to you! But he’s too nice he wouldn’t do it.

Isabella – hope you managed to organise your birthday bash for Indiana this weekend – hope it doesn’t rain for you. Poor Cameron and his haircut – I would have been so mad.

Ali – coped ok without DH but had a pretty average day today – he’s back tonight – hopefully within the hour so that’s ok – although only for 3 nights then he’s off again for another 5 – grrrrr. Glad I’m not the only one who ball for DH’s going away! Hope your ms hurries up and goes – it sounds like it’s being pretty mean to you. It has been pretty chuffing cold here in Perth hasn’t it! This house that we are in is always so much colder than outside – great in summer – pretty bad now although we’ve got heating so it’s ok – just end up with a big electric bill! That’s great that Tori’s walking everywhere – she won’t be trashing her clothes in the mud and wet like Will will – wish he would walk soon but he hasn’t even stood without holding on so I don’t think it will be anytime soon. Good luck for your move. Have a great time at Aqwa – I went about 5 years ago when we were here for a visit and loved it – will have to take the kids soon. Hope Tori has a great day.

Nic – Poor you – I so hope your house sells quick so you can get out of MIL’s – sounds awful. I so hear you on getting annoyed when DH is away – I know my DH works very hard when he is away but he also gets to go out socialising with work buddies and go to nice restaurants then I get the tipsy phonecall after having a really crappy day with the kids and having spent till 8.30 tidying grrr so anyway – I know how you feel - (hugs).

IK – Hope your exam went well – and good luck for the one tomorrow – I think you are going to need to sleep for a week when they are all over! Do you get time out from studying when the exams finish before starting again?

Well haven’t had too bad a time with DH away but I’m dreading next week when it’s a day and 2 nights longer (he catches the red-eye on Sunday – grrrrrr). He’s coming back to a messy house but that’s tuff – I am so tired – partly my own stupid fault as I hate going to bed by myself so I have been staying up really late on BB – silly girl that I am. Will was abit of a nightmare today as I left it a bit late to give him lunch then put him down for his sleep so he was over tired and wouldn’t sleep – he ended up staying in his cot for over an hour (not crying but not sleeping either) so I gave up but that meant he was a cranky cling-on for the rest of the day.

I have decided I am definitely going to wean him – the last few weeks of bf have been so unpleasant. I usually love the warm and fuzzy moments of him cuddled up to me when he wakes up (I only ever feed him lying down) but the last few weeks have had no warm and fuzzies – just ouchies. He continuously pulls and twists with both hands in opposite directions and has yanked his head back a few times in the last few days which has nearly sent me through the roof. I keep trying to stop his hands from grabbing me but that just sends him off into such an angry place so that he won’t feed so basically tonight he’s gone down tonight without any milk as I wouldn’t let him try to pull me apart. I have an appointment with a dietician at a local hospital next week for some ideas as he’s still dairy intolerant but might try some soy or goat milk over the weekend.

Anyway, better go – I’ve just heard DH’s plane land so I ought to go and pretend ive been in bed hours!

I'm up too!
I'm cramming last minute info in, even though I have tomorrow morning to do that, too. I think I'll turn in soon and leave to the morning what isn't in my head by now. I think my exam was terrible, but not as bad as what it was last year. As in, I thought I did TERRIBLY last year, but ended up acing it. Thing is, I actually studied more for that one. So, this one today didn't feel so excruciating...so I musn't have done very well. And, get this, I had to have a few microsleeps during the exam because I was so exhausted from trying to get Oscar to sleep at midnight last night (of all nights to pull that trick on me...) and staying up till after 3. That was silly. I probably didn't absorb much more after midnight anyway! Tomorrow should be slightly better - I've actually been studying the material for 2 weeks. My weaker points will be the biological psych with al the chemical names and synaptic activity that is sort of not as easy for me to grasp. We'll see.
Crap, I think I can hear Coco barking...and not in our yard...
Julie - I can definitely relate to being chewed on! If you didn't particularly want to wean (I'm finding it appeals to my lazy nature to let Oscar wean, as well as my earth-mama tendencies!), then I found that pulling Oscar off when he was being rude worked a treat. He got quite upset at not being allowed back on till he could play nicely. This did go on for some days - no more than a week, and he's been nice ever since (ok, lately he's taken to pulling off just upon let down...everything gets wet!). That was about a month ago. It was trying, but we got through it because I was determined to get through it. If you're not fussed, then ignore me, but if you did want to continue, just letting you know that (as Bath says) "this too will pass"!
Heaven - sorry if I missed it, but you must have posted off your assignment by now - how does it feel? It's nice at the other end of submission, isn't it?!
Mel- can't wait to see those canvases IRL - I need some inspiration now that I'm about to be freed up again to be creative! I have canvases and paints...just need time...and ideas...

Ali - hope your MS improves REAL soon! The last two drives we have done I copped a moment of carsickness...VERY unpleasant reminder of preggy times. Funny, apart from recently, I haven't had that feeling since the MS abated during pg, and I used to get carsick a bit. I haven't seen Tanya on the boards lately, I've been thinking of her and Lucas (bit proud of her last 12 month metamorphoses!). Have a great morning tea :)

Julie - I am in the process of loading the pics. The light is not great on the photos but you'll get the idea. I'm sure Marley is not going to be overly tall, Chelsea is the tall one, so I'm sure she won't mind a shorter boyfriend LOL!!! He may have to get in line, Oscar and Nixon had their eyes on her LOL! Your DH must be a very clever man, he should really go to his reunion, I would love to see the look on those teachers faces. He should be very proud of himself. I am like you, when DH is working, I stay up so late and just check BB and other internet sites relating to kids clothes etc. Before I know it, its 1am! I usually regret it the next morning.

IK - you won't know what to do with yourself without the books! It will be nice to have some time with Oscar and DP without worrying about studying. I'm sure we can get some inspiration going for you and you can paint up a storm!

My dad couldn't decide on what to buy Marley so he asked me to shop for him. Went over to Baby Bunting and got my sleeping bag/footmuff for my pram and I also got one of the Latitude Enfant knitted toys. They are so adorable and very unique. I got her Gabin the Zebra. At least she will have something from her pa that she can keep and remember. Also got her one of those bibs that catch the food! She drops so much food from her highchair that hopefully this will help. I am so not organised for this party tomorrow, thankfully its only family. I still haven't cooked the cake and I am out for dinner tonight. Might have to be baking at midnight! I'm sure it will all be good tomorrow (fingers crossed).

My GF sent me this poem that I thought all of you could relate to

What did I do today

I hope my children look back on today,
And see a mother who had time to play.
There will be years for cleaning and cooking,
for children grow up while we are not looking.


Today I left some dishes dirty;
The beds got made around 3:30.
The nappies soaked a little longer,
The odour grew a little stronger.
The crumbs I spilled the day before,
Are staring at me from the floor.

Mel - Thats a gorgeous poem - lots of warm and fuzzies from it - will show it to DH so he knows why the house is such a state! hehe baking at midnight - btdt - i started William's after 9.30pm on the Friday night before the party!I'll tell Will he might have to queue for Marley's affections, we know so many boy babies his age but not many girls - but all of them are so much taller than him poor poppet!

Will looks extra battered today - he has a big lump/bruise int eh middle of his forhead from falling onto the corner of oscar's little chair yesterday, still got bruise on chin from falling on bookcase corner about 4 days ago, has skin missing from lip and bloody nose from a fall face first into a plastic car this morning at playgroup - i'm dreading shopping this arvo as im sure people will think ive been hurting him! - well hopefully only those without kids - those with them will know what a pain in the bum stage this is where they want to do everything but aren't physically able to but still attempt to anyway.

DH is back now so thats nice - got my lie in to 7.30am this morning - yay! Cor - it's cold here and raining and the forecast is that for the next week - brrrrrr! I might have to go and put the heating on when Will wakes up. Won't write much today as i think my monster post from last night says enough!

IK - hope your exam went well today - saw you were still on just as i was logging off last night - naughty! Thanks for the bf tips - i will see how things go for the next couple of days.

Good morning girls :) I've been caught up posting in other threads about highly controversial issues again LOL ;) haven't we Dee, IK? so sorry I haven't made it in here... have read all of Nic & Rory's preggy journals though so I feel somewhat up to speed.

Today DH and I are going to research living in Dubai for a few years... the bank are going to have some new jobs available there in a few months... might as well consider it hey? LOL DH knows several people (families) who have successfully done it... one woman even conceived, and gave birth over there... I'd certainly get my Mother's Assistant! (maids are standard) and we would also probably have our own driver... how good would that be! So here's me flicking back over to DubaiExpat dot com LOL (already found a great school for the kids... British curriculum, Kinder to year 13 (!) excellent facilities...

Well DH has gone to be an official at a 4x4 competition, so I've been left at home to look after the kids all weekend, so I'm not so happy about that. Ok will be lurking for a while.

Lol Bath, a very interesting debate. DH and I would jump at the chance, it would be an excellent adventure, from what I have seen and read of Dubai it looks awesome. Fingers crossed for you. It makes me green with envy, how exciting.

I did my back a few days ago, very painful but it's a bit better today I had the girls stay home the last two days of school because I couldn't do anything. I can't look down without my back spasming. I drove to the shops yesterday and sent DD1 in to put my assignment in the mail and go into woolies to buy bread and milk. I officially ran out of money yesterday, DH will be paid on the 1st of July, he hasn't been paid since April. Oh not a worry I have food and Nate is still BF and I have a quarter of a tank of fuel, I told the girls that we will be staying home this week they were fine with that as they can play with the kids from the street. I haven't been this broke in about 8 years I reckon, lol. July will be a different story. I will do DH's tax online and because he hasn't been paid for a while and his first pay is july family assist will back pay me a years worth of Part A, Part B suppliment and Part A suppliment as well as my baby bonus for Allanah, With Michaels tax return it will be about $7000 all up, very nice but it isn't free money it has already been spent in back paying our creditors. So for every negative there is a positive and it all works out in the wash, Thank Goodness.
So glad that our build up of debt will be taken care of.
Allanah has ecsema back again, every winter the same thing poor baby, it's only on her arms. I have stuff here for her but the first thing I"ll do in July if it isn't clearing up or under control is get her to a doctor.

We're in a similar position Dee, hanging out until July for tax refunds etc to clear our debts and start again! Last Tuesday we also had no money left in the "slush fund" and had to live off Visa which is already almost full with school fees... just lived off our pantry stores... managed to make some nice meals nevertheless... our freezer contains only ice packs now. We're about to go out and do a shop (DH was paid on Wed but I only bought basics from local IGA)...finally can afford to buy some fresh "greens" without having to go out the backyard snuffling for rocket leaves that are growing there now after re-seeding for the third year in a row.

Dubai update: school fees at one of Dubai's best schools peak at AUS$8,000 per year. WooHoo! that's about half of what we pay here.... and better still it's co-ed so all the kids will get to go to the same school... DH's first words after discovering that was "we can afford a 4th!"

Lol sorry for the split post my SIL turned up, she came to see the kids, and me...:p before she flies out tonight to Townsville for her annual pilgrimage to her mums house. I so wish I was going but alas, not this time, due to finances. I've become very close to my SIL we have an excellent relationship these days and we see them a couple of times a week.
Anyway as I was saying Nathan is climbing on everything, he can climb onto the table, up the top of the lounge, on and off my bed, in and out of his walker, everywhere, I'm so on my toes with him now. He's just dangerous now.
Bath that is excellent, how exciting if you go, and yeah we have food, so we can last the distance. Wow I need a veggie garden, the kids would love one. My DD2 is so excited as we have people moving into the house over the road and when we were saying goodbye to SIL she discovered it was a girl from her class. The two girls were running around silly but I didn't see her parents just her and an older sibling, they would be pretty busy moving in today anyway so I'l give it a FEW DAYS AND i'LL GO OVER WITH A CAKE opps sorry didn't mean to shout, lol.

Hey I've just made this wonderful concoction! I had a small quantity of mashed potato, an equally small quantity of mashed pumpkin... too much for just Niall... enough for everyone if mixed together but I didn't really fancy the flavour, so I added a hefty pinch of curry powder, some roasted cumin seeds and a dash of milk to blend (on the stovetop)... and mmmmmm it's delish! The cumin seeds are the vital ingredient adds a bit of a surprise. I'm fairly certain the kids will love it, including Niall... will report back later....

How was the concoction Bath? Yummo I'll bet, it sounds yummy. We had steak and veg for dinner. Kids are bathed and in bed (not the older two). Melissa really should have had a nap today, she is soooo whingey.

7th, I know the feeling about being broke - we hit that stage a few months ago, but a GF of mine (who works at the ANZ, incidentally!) gave me the bright idea of transferring my credit card debt to a 6 months interest free deal with another bank, which i did, and now we are a bit more financial till July also, as we too are waiting for tax time. I will be able to pay our cc off (but I will keep the extra $20,000 the other bank offered, sitting there, for emergencies! can you believe that credit limit!!) and start putting $$ away for Little One's birth and my "confinement".

News with us? Well as mentioned above the Terrorist is waking up at night again, I think it is a combo of overtired (we have experimented with late nights - sometimes 8 or 9pm) and sore teeth (back molars coming through, we think) and the beginnings of an imagination. The night light seems to help but sometimes he seems really scared, rather than just annoyed.

I spent this morning at a Law Institute meeting, and Flynn was a little lamb for the whole 2 hours, I was so pleased and proud of him. I then bought myself some maternity wear - I nearly died at the price ($310) but I got a good pair of Ripe pants (I cheked out the stuff at Target and KMart but none of it looked as "nice" as the Ripe pants I bought last time, which are still going great guns) as well as a black jumper top, a black skin-tight top and a lovely formal black lace dress - we have a wedding to go to in September and I just know that between this pregnancy and the next I will have a few formal dos to go to. I had one the other night at the Old Melbourne Gaol (lovely place but bloody cold in June!!) and squeezed into a non-pg dress, but realised that was my last time I could wear that one.

Flynnie and I went grocery shopping in the arvo and I made a nice laksa for dinner with Aldi prawns - $9 for 500 grams! I bit of an exxy meal but we have eaten so many curried snag casseroles lately I needed something a little lush.

Better go - I am catching up with mates for yum cha tomorrow and them a GF is down from Sydney and holding arvo tea at her mums, so tomorrow should be a good day too.

Now, if only I could unblock my nose.......!!

Well its been another cold day here at the foot of the snowfields.
We were meant to have visitors today but they didn't turn up! No phone call, no txt msg nothing...I am really p!ssed off!
The whole family went for a walk around to mums this afternoon, but it was too cold for Pat to walk home f=so mum drove us home, the others had to walk though! *evil laugh*

Dee- I know how it is with no money! Friends of my parents offered to lend us the bond money for the house, but when it came the time to hand it over, they didn't come through with it. We used all of my payment and my mums payment so we have been living on the bare essentials for the past 3 weeks.

One of the Professors at my work travels their frequently to lecture and he loved it, said it was very clean, nice people. Its always a great opportunity to go overseas, esp for work. My GF in Japan is loving it and she is only there for 7 mths. Would you go for #4? Would be super handy to have a maid to help out. School fees sound very reasonable. Love the sound of your concoction, aren't they always the best when you just make things up?

Ripe maternity wear is fantastic. I think you get what you pay for, and they will last you and they fit much better than Target ones. I found if you look good, you feel good. Dress sounds nice too and sounds like you will get a bit of wear out of it. Laksa sounds yum and what a bargain with the prawns! Enjoy yum cha tomorrow.

Well it was party day today. I went out for my monthly dinner to Japanese last night and got home and cooked cakes! Got to bed at 2am! I was so tired this morning, took Chelsea dancing, came home and cooked some more slices, tidied up and then family arrived. Thankfully it was only a party for family, there was only 10 people. Marley had a great time and even managed to last the afternoon without a sleep. By the time she went to bed at 6pm she was cactus, her eyes had shut before I had done the zip up on her bag! Some stayed for dinner and we had Thai (delicious!) and everyone had left by 8.30pm. Marley got some lovely presents, in particular a gorgeous carousel that you wind up and it plays music as the horses go around, DH's nana bought her that and it is just beautiful. B'day cake turned out OK, but it was a little down on my usual standards! At least it tasted good LOL!!!

well Nixon is finally on the mend. I think the amoxil has kicked in and doing its thing, i got home from work yesterday to see a smiling happy boy! still has a bit of a cough but nothing like it was. Had a tupperware party today so feel like ive just worked all week! At mums tonight and going to a christening tomorrow. It will be nice to have DH home as im begining to feel like a single mum!

I have emailed a few agents regarding renting a [roperty but havent heard back from any of them. i knew i wouldnt have time to look at anything this weekend so never called any but might during the week so we can get somewhere soon. It may take a bit as we need a ownder that allows outside pets. MIL continues to do her thing, dunno whether to laugh or cry sometimes!

I though maybe some exercise would help but, i nearly collapsed on my walker doovy, Back was really spasming. It's definitely Sciatica I have the pins and needles down into my feet, It really bad but I'll be fine. We won't be broke soon, ours is very temporary, I probably shouldn't have mentioned it as we are very fortunate really,there aren't to many people how could live for two months without being paid any money. We will be back to scratch next month.

sorry i go a bit quite when hubbies home as we only get a week together before he goes again.
Zayden seems to have gone really well with his glasses his teacher had a big talk to the class to let them know why he has them so fingers crossed thats the last of that.
Kailaia has been really grumy sence she had her needles and hs had a bit of a temp, but it could be just the cold as the older two have given her a cough she sound horrible.
Went to a baby shower last night at the playgroup i go to so have been very busy cross stiching flowers and chickens onto clothes, looked very cute but when i got there my 4yr old ask the mum to be when the baby was comming to have a shower and when the mum to be ( after tring not to laugh ) said not for a while she huffed and puffed and said well how many minutes is that. so i had to tell her that we were here just to give her presents and to have some food and talk she was happy and went of to play.
Well school hoils are here in queensland and i have know idea what i am going to do with them, but half way throu the 2nd week daddy comes home again and we are going down to Hervey Bay for a few days so we can look around and maybe buy land. So i'm very excited about it but not looking forward to the two day drive with 3 kids.

Thats about 16 or so hours isn't it Tali, do you break it into 2 8 hour drives? Ohhh Gawd the agony. Do you have a car DVD player. I love mine. :) Lol DH and I share the driving so we don't prolong the agony and do it in one trip, although we don't really go further then 13 hours from home. Except for when we went to Katherine, NT, we overnighted at my Dads place in Mount Isa, DH wants to go up again next year, We are flying, he wants to drive, I said he can, he can drive the Hire car from Darwin to Katherine, lol.

Tali - i dont envy you with that long drive, im stressing out about an 8 hour drive that i have coming up in September with one child!! I would highly recommend a car DVD player though (as dee suggested) they are a life saver, ill definitely be getting one before we go away.

Well. i actually had three nights of lachlan sleeping from 7pm until 6am, having a bottle and then sleeping until 8am!! oh it was heaven, considering i was going off to bed at around 8.30pm myself!!
Im trying to think of some new and exciting things for dinners for him but im just at a loss. Is everyone cooking a seperate meal each night now or are we still doing the frozen portion thing. Im still freezing mash potato, pumkin etc in ice cube trays and using those but i cant help but feel like he is too old for that now. The only problem is that he eats dinner way before we do and i dont want to be cooking two separate meals!!

Donna - Oscar has been having our food for a little while now, for dinner, and sometimes for lunch, depending on left overs. We have him eat with us, but if he's had a big day and needs to sleep, we just eat without him and I just give him booby feeds when he stirs later in the evening. So, from left overs I might freeze some food for him and it mainly gets used by MIL or my parents for when I leave him with them.
Tali - you'll get there, and before you know it you will wonder why it doesn't seem like it took you too long to get the hang of forum-speak!

Julie - how's the biting going? Did it make you or break you in the last few days since you posted? I can definitely see why many mummies wean during the biting stage - I persevered using blind faith that we could get beyond it!!
Today was our party day. It was ambitious, but we pulled it off. DP was up till late last night doing the deck rails and steps, then was up early this morning to finish the balustrades, so that no-one fell down the great drop behind the deck! He bunged up two places with plywood, temporarily, but it is mostly done, and it did the job for today. We had a patio heater (not one of your fancy cafe ones, but it did the job) and a fire drum on the patio area, as well as the wood heater inside the house, so although it was a cold day, everyone had a source of warmth. My mum helped with some salads and two roast chooks, two others brought salads (pre-arranged), and a family friend made a fabulous cake that I just finished off now (hee hee!). I stressed myself out this morning because my first attempt at a cake for Oscar failed dismally. My oven has worked fine for cookies, but I had never baked a cake in it...and it's just crap! A recipe that is supposed to be 45 mins at 180 degrees, needed a good half hour over that to be cooked. The first effort was binned (it was that unsalvagable), but my second take was actually quite nice! The icing wasn't great, but you get that. One of the kids who came is gluten intolerant and my cake used gluten free flour (just cos I prefer to use it anyway, not cos any of us are gluten intolerant)...he was one happy camper! He went running out to his mum yelling "Mum! I can eat the cake, it's gluten-free!". So, that made me feel better for not having checked the ingredients of the lollies I had bought for the kids! He had his own bag of food he could eat, but it would have been nice if I had provided just a bit more. We had enough food for everyone (you'd hope so, after spending nearly $100 on meat alone!! From a very good butcher, though...would spend that again for a BBQ party), and for a Sunday, we had a few people left after dark. All brigade people, though. I realised that the ones who stayed on were all the ones who are in Oscar's life on a regular basis...all brigade people. So, I'm glad we invited all of the ones we did. I didn't get to talk to people as much during the first few hours because I was organising salads, snacks, lollies, balloons (I kept being requested to provide freshly blown balloons for the kids! More on this later), and whilst trying to keep tabs on Oscar - not cos he wasn't safe, but because it was his birthday party and I hardly saw him!
On a tangent, it really bugged me the way some adults were when I was dealing with the kids. These kids, who were anxiously awaiting me to do my balloon thing, were talking to me at the same time and it was lovely. However, whenever my dad needed to know something, or my mum wanted something, or DP needed something, they would interrupt me with the intention of suggesting that their business was way more important. Yeah, ok, it might be to adults, but to the kids who just want a balloon to play with? I was very miffed by that, because I was expected to just drop the kids and deal with other things. How rude! So, whilst adults were getting impatient with me, I would stop what I was doing, explain that I had to do something but that I would be right back, and I excused myself. Precious seconds that if wasted would have meant the end of civilisation as we know it...according to the adult who was waiting for me to drop everything. How do you explain to a kid that their business just isn't as important as the big people's? You don't, that's how. Anyway, just a vent. Had I been talking to another adult, I would have heard an 'excuse me' and there would have been a hell of a lot more patience involved. It just made my blood boil.
Anyway, apart from that, everything went well. We offloaded the dogs to MIL, because one of the kids is scared of all dogs. That and our dogs would have been too boisterous, but I was concerned about this one girl who just can't deal with dogs.
During the party I didn't have to wash a single dish - we had helpers everywhere!
However, there are no helpers around anymore, DP has gone to bed (after putting in a great effort with the dishes before when I was dealing with Oscar) and there are still things to be cleared up so that we don't get an ant invasion. Oscar is finally asleep in the Ergo and I'll offload him now.
One more thing. Oscar was with my parents this morning while I got ready and they brought him with them (foolishly! I should have left him with MIL...how stupid to think that for once my parents would come on time, or even early - as requested - on Oscar's birthday! He was nearly an hour late!!). When he arrived, most people were here already. He walked in, looked around and slowly started to recognise faces and started to smile - then proceeded to walk amongst everyone like a little lord! He had a GREAT time, and loved the Happy Birthday singing. Not a single startled tear, considering how many people were in HIS house all at once! I was so impressed with him, especially as he went from 9.30am to 3.30 without a sleep! He's a little party animal.
Anyway, from now on I should be able to catch up properly in here because I'm turning over a new leaf. A new study leaf...did you know that its actually far better to have some sort of structure to your week when you're studying, raising a child, and have hobbies and committments? Hmmm, yeah, I realise that now!!
