Excuse me, can I please speak to you after you have finished with the littlies?

Nic- I have found that some real estate agents don't even try to push houses towards prospective buyers. If you are unhappy with them, I would tell them you are considering going to a different agent, that should get their butts moving!
I have seen your house and if I had the money, those powerlines wouldn't be any problem for me!
Tali- We take our kids for longish drives all the time. I find that if you keep the food and drinks going they are usually ok. I try to stop every hr or so, but if they are asleep I let it go until they wake up. I remember when I was younger, mum and dad used to take us(my brothers and I) up to Queensland. We used to leave early in the morning and by night we would be at the Queensland/NSW border. With only 4-5 stops in between!
Better go James is chomping at the bit about dinner!
    Ciao Bellas and Bambino/as

Just a quickie - have undertaken the mountainous task of sorting out all the kids toys and putting most of them away and just having a few out at the smae time. i have been really hard and put all the really baby toys away in the box (until next time hopefully) then spent ages going through the millions of bits and assigning them to the right toy and puttin git in bag. the kids have enjoyed this morning having every single toy out but i can't see the floor yet so need to carry on.
Nic - Hope it sells soon, try not to worry (i know easier said than done) yay on your dh being back - mines been back and went again last night -grrr
Mel - love Marley's canvas's i might have to give that a go in blue and green for the boys - how did you make them so neat? If i attempt to paint something it looks more like Osc has done it than me. Love the 1 cake in the cupcakes - so much easier to deal with!
Rory - yikes with Flynn trying to get out his cot. We have a Mali Euro cot which is very high (although pretty exxy) and kept oscar in till he was around 2 and 3 or 4 months - and he's the biggest climbing monkey daredevil ever so that may keep Flynn in abit longer. I couldn't have handled putting either of mine in a bed or something that wasn't enclosed at 12 months as they would have been out every 30 seconds for hours. Good luck.

Off to keep tidying while they are asleep - hi to everyone else

    Julie x

Lol Rory, What a little dare devil. If you read a few posts back up the thread Nathan is doing exactly the same thing, he can climb in and out of his cot if the side is down to the first bar. but thankfuly he can't pull himself out with it right up the top, Ours is a very deep cot though. I have added a couple of photos of Nathan climbing up on the table....as i type this I have just gone to the rescue of my naughty boy after he just split his lip open while trying to climb up his high chair, it has moved and he has fallen bumping his face, silly boy. What is it with boys OMG it never ends, lol.

PS don't mind the mess, lol.

My babies aren't tall so we don't have that problem thankfully Rory... i think our cot is average in depth... not sure what is the recommended depth though.

If we didn't co-sleep, I'd be right there with you Rory and Dee! As it is, sometimes he just wriggles off the bed...but it doesn't seem like he falls so far now that he's bigger, and he doesn't cry, he just whimpers in confusion till I snuggle into him and he falls back to sleep. For day sleeps I now just stick him on my bed on the lambskin with one of his doonas over him...until Coco barks near our window and wakes him up...grrr. 'His' room is also close to the gate where Coco barks, so there goes the idea that sleeping in the portacot would fix that.
Oscar is being too cute ATM.
I'll have to go check out everyone's sites now that I'm allowed to!
ETA so tempted to look into Gymbaroo...we have a serious climber. He'll upend anything to get onto it to stand on it. Just today he was climbing the rungs of the clothes airer, so tomorrow I'll take the dogs and Oscar to an off-leash park in Belgrave where there is a pretty ace playground. I'll let the dogs and Oscar loose there! Maybe I should get Oscar a helmet? LOL. Bath - Oscar is just an average height, maybe Niall's climbing is just around the corner!

Lol IK Nathan still sleeps with me alot, but he will go in his cot which is next to my bed. He uses me as a dummy and is playing havoc with my back the way he twists and turns I end up sneaking him into his cot around 11-12, where he stays til about 4 0r 5 in the morn back to bed for booby and then he slides off my bed and goes to find his sisters who are mostly always up from 6. He keeps me up, lol.

Tali - well done on the ticker, your kids look gorgeous! You'll pick up the lingo soon enough.

Ik - well done on hosting your childs first birthday party. Its such an achievement! So much work goes into it and you end up buggered at the end of it. Sounds like Oscar had a good time, which is the main thing. Marley loved the singing part but she wasn't so sure about the candle! Can't believe your parents turned up with the guest of honour late! My theory for making a kids cake is make a sample one a few days before hand just to make sure it tastes good. I did 2 batches as I had never made these cakes before and I was a bit nervous. At least the second one turned out and nice of you to do a gluten free one. That poor child must feel so left out at most parties. A very thoughtful gesture from you. I did Gymbaroo when Chelsea was 6 mths old, she really loved it. I did 2 terms but found it a bit expensive. Check out and see if there are any others in your area as there are some other independant places that are cheaper and do a very similiar thing.

Nic - RA can be useless sometimes! My dad recently sold and had real trouble with his RA. He enlisted a vendor advocate and the house sold in 2 days! The vendor advocate did so much more work than the RA, chased prospective buyers (2 were interested but pulled out and RA didn't really chase them and find out why) and got one of them back and settled on a price. You don't pay them, they get a percentage from the RA commission. Might be worth checking out. Or just change RA if thats an option. You have a beautiful home and in a good area, there must be a buyer somewhere, esp in this market. Good luck and try not to stress too much about it.

Rory - my cot has 2 heights, newborn and toddler. The toddler one is quite low and Marley isn't very tall either. When she stands up, her head just makes it over the rail! Not sure what you can do, maybe another mattress on the ground just in case!

Julie - sounds like you had a very productive day. I should do a toy clear out too soon. The canvases were easy. To get the neat lines etc, you just mask the areas off with good quality masking tape. Paint the area and peel off straight away to prevent bleeding under the tape. Once that section is dry, you can mask another area. I go through lots of masking tape. Next time I get a chance, I will upload some of the other art work I have done, my house is full of them!!!

7th - hows your back today? Hopefully not giving you too much grief!

Received my Donna Hay kids issue today and for those looking for meal ideas its packed full of some brilliant recipes and all kid friendly and easy to make. Chelsea has already picked out a heap she wants me to make.

Trying to keep really active today, my back is killing me. But it is better than the other day. So I've been doing housewrork, cooked a carrot cake and a chocolate cake. Still raining here, has been raining the last few days, constantly since yesterday, feel sorry for any travellers who have come to sunny Queensland Gold Coast, lol. It is really miserable weather, but very welcomed.
I got the girls report cards the other day and was really pleased with them both, I was waiting on the report cards to kinda judge if we have done the right thing in moving here, and now I can give a firm Yes. Bree's whole attitude and effort has improved out of site. She is trying her best and working consistantly, not a great schollar but she's passing everything and doing very well in a couple of subjects. She has continued to do really well with the clarinet, she got A's and B's on her report. She is really arts motivated and it shows in her work.
Makayla as described by her teacher is one smart cookie with A' featuring in her report with a couple of B's. She's a real all rounder, pretty good at everything she tries, just like her father.
I guess in primary school I'm not as concerned with academic progress, as I am with the effort they make in their school work. Both girls got mostly A's for effort so I am pleased that they are mostly working to their potential. I think that if they always work to their full potentil the academic results will follow as they push themselves to learn. IYKWIM.
Well I'm being badgered for chocolate cake so I should go and feed the masses, lol. Nathan is annoying his sisters, he keeps turning the T.V down on them, they are really cracking, lol, better go.
    Have a great day girls.
    Bye Dee

    Good Afternoon

Central heating duct is right under this desk, another advantage (remember the dramas of moving computer desks? DH hated it at first.... now he sees the benefits...mmmmmm)

Dee: Hope your back continues to improve, good idea keeping active, not hard with a mobile baby hey? Wonderful to read good reports hey? Such a relief. Verity had an excellent one end of last year but she's recently been a bit challenging behaviourwise and I have low expectations for the next one. She's recently started to become very moody and is taking this to school whereas in the past she would reserve that kind of behaviour for home... her moods are really determining the atmosphere at home now too as they rub off onto the boys Oh well, just the start of things to come as we enter the teen years I guess. Hope the cakes are a hit. I made a fruit cake yesterday too.

Mel: checking out your site/canvasses now!

IK: I know what you mean about some adults disregarding manners towards children... how are children meant to learn manners if they don't see them in use? Sounds like you did very well spreading yourself around at the party. Niall is climbing but just not in his cot. We're mainly co-sleeping too ATM gets a bit squishy when Wade insists on getting in too... but they get cold in their own beds... if I was prepared to leave the central heating on all night every night then I guess I'd prefer they stayed in their own beds but we can't afford to... plus I have this weird notion that I want my children to be able to deal with winter... to be able to handle cold weather infact all extremes... it just doesnt feel right wrapping them in cotton wool and temperature controlling their environments so that they never need 'deal' with anything outside the 20-25'C. It's just not natural IYKWIM

Julie: toy sorting! need to do it here as too much has migrated out of the cupboards and into permanent access. Decided that if we move o/s then Wade will only take his Duplo and some books. AM I a dragon mummy or what!? LOL I figure that home-made play like drawing, playdough, craft is better for their little brains anyhow.

Niall awake.... quick Hi to Tali, Rrory, Amanda, Jess, Ali, Nic and everyone else!

    Hi All,
We only move a mth ago and i was a very mean mummy and got rid of most of their toys they now only have one toy box each in the playroom I just got sick of always tiding the room and house as it never stays in one place, got rid of most of zay toys that he had grown out of like TMNT as now he likes bugs and lego. may kept most of hers as she only really has ponys and dolls, but I guess it gets to a point that it just has to be done.

*Rory* Mayleaka who is now 4 use to do that and trust me they do end up falling out as they think you will be there to catch them. I would love to say that she learnt the 1st time she fell but she didn't so we ended up taking off one of the sides of the cot so that when she woke she could get out of her bed but still be in the safty of her room it was the only way for us, we also had the cot with ajustable heights but she was too tall, lucky this time round I have a short little duck so dont think we will have that prob again. Good luck with it.

If anyone has older kid and wants a free activity then take them down to Bunning on Sat or Sunday and they have free kids craft at 11 and also at 12 my kid love it and have made heaps of things ie painting pots and things like that, some bunning might want you to book but up here in cairns we just turn up. if you go to there web site they tell what they are doing they also have a hoilday program
enjoy the rest of you day

Rory I have to have a little laugh (I know not so funny), but Kailen use to climb in and out of his cot all the time after about 12 mths. He use to climb over the top and lower himself down onto the bit where the mattress sat and then lowered himself to the floor. There's not a lot you can do, I personally wouldn't put him in a bed yet, because like someone said you will be in and out more times then not. Maybe if you just put a spare mattress beside his cot incase he does fall out then he has something to land on.

    Hello everyone else.

    hugs xoxo

Hi Amanda, do you want to meet up next week, I got a car all of the time, Monday I have to pay bills and do a bit of running around but am free for the rest of the week.
I have just grounded my girls!!! They were playing with the other kids from the street in the back yard of a house that is still being built. I am soooo not happy, they know they are not allowed anywhere near the construction zones. For a number of reasons which we have discussed with them and truely trusted them to do the right thing and not be sheep and just follow the other kids and most importantly have respect for other people's property. The house is still being built so and although it is at lock up they are sstill doing work there, It is not a public park it is a private home and I know that if I owned it I would be very unhappy that parents allowed their children to play on my property, The kids up the road have apparently dug holes all over the back yard and made a bike track and jumps. I explained all over again what would happen if they were caught there or if something was broken they could get the blame, I was ropeable. Ggrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I am now the meanest mummy on the block, and I don't care. OK well I scoured my house from top to bottom and I found a fortune in miscellaneous coins ($40 smackaroos, yeeehaaaa) so I'm off to the shop as we are out of bread, milk, fruit, potatoes, cereal ,these kids eat me out of house and home, lol. What I get today will last til Monday though.
    Okay I'm off.
    Bye Dee

LOL Dee @ scouring your place for $. I had to raid wade's piggy bank to buy a loaf of bread recently.... and don't worry about being a dragon mummy... you did the right thing... especially from a safety perspective... I agree with amanda regarding the mattress on the floor too... we had to place a futon roll beside wade's bed for a few months... did the trick... i wouldn't be putting flynn into his own bed just yet... unless his room is perfectly childproof I guess but then you would have to keep the door shut... very tricky!

Oh, the capers of our kidlets!
Heaven - that's great news about the girls' reports from school - what a relief that they have not only adjusted, but adjusted well! They have no excuses, really, as they see you studying away with all that you have to deal with. Also, it's funny how just when you think you've run out of rope, there's always some more that comes out of the magician's hat at that critical moment!
Took the dogs and Oscar to the park today and let them all loose. It was a juggling act, but all had a great time and Oscar got to climb all over the place...with me hovering nearby or holding the belt loop of his jeans to prevent him from killing himself.
Ok, Oscar needs something again. BBL...
