I'm not going - I think I will wait til its on SBS or ABC (which I am sure it will be one day). I can't guarantee what state I will be in (ie: labour or post-labour LOL!!)

Oh Mel you poor thing, I am not sure what you can do either, are you game enough to take a photo to share? ( it will be good to pull out on her 21st). I did a very similar thing when I was about that age, but I cut a triangle out of my fringe right before my kindy photo.
Wish I could go guess I will have to wait until ABC or SBS
Nic- what a good weight gain at least you now may know why he doesnt like the boob hopefully if its fixed you will still be able to feed him.
Mel - I feel your pain thankfully so far May hasn't gone that far but I can see her doing it one day as she always tells me that she want straight hair not curly so I sit and wait for the day that she trys to cut off her curls, I too once did this to my own hair when I was in yr 1 I came out of class without the front part of my hair. mum was not happy and when asked why I did this I told her the mentally disabled child in my did it, I think that made her more angry as I was lying I dont remember but its always one of those stories that come out every now and then.lol kids will be kids hope it grows back fast.
Well we went to DS swimming caraval today he is getting pretty good but just loved to spin while swimming in the water but they mainly played games as it was at the end of the day we stayed on just for a bit of a swim I was surprised that I was the only mum who stayed on. I just didnt see the point of following the bus back to school, unless you had older kids at the school but I know that of the very few parents who did show there kids are the oldest aswell.
anyway hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Amanda- Good luck with this weekend hunt will send up a little prayer for you:pray:
Just quickly....
Oh Mel!!!!! Agggghh! I know I know! Been there! Verity did the same thing when she was about 4. Attacked her fringe... lucky it wasn't too bad and she was wearing headbands to cover it for ages too.... it's so hard not to loose the plot! I did too but ended up apologizing to her because it occurred to me that it wasn't done out of defiance, just curiosity. It you are game enough to post a piccy I could see what could be done... I think she will eventually understand the semi permanent nature of doing it soon enough too... the penny dropped with Verity after about 2/3 days and she got quite upset. I think nearly all girls try it... she's unlikely to do it again if that's any consolation! In the meantime have a lovely meal out tonight... and/or have a Mother's Helper to soothe your nerves! (the glass of wine I have whilst cooking dinner - witching hour- for the uninitiated LOL)
ETA: Speaking of Verity: OMG I am so proud of her! She was part of a state-wide standardized exam for reading, writing, spelling ans maths (an AIMS exam). And the results have been mailed to us. Her results were graphed according to national bench-mark, state average, expected average and the equivalent year level. I was pleased to see that she performed well above the national bench mark and the state average in all subjects except maths where she was spot on average. She is writing at above year 8 level!!! (she is in year 7) She is also well above expected level for spelling! And here I thinking that she was struggling a bit this year! Maybe it's just relative (there are a lot of high achievers at her school)... anyhow, with the final installment of her school fees due soon i am at least able to pay them knowing that we are getting our money's worth!!! I'll reward her this weekend somehow :)
OMG MEL!! Noooooooooooooooooooooo! She had the same hair that I did until my dad cut it short!!!!!! it never grew back the same, but that could have been just a hormonal thing that was always going to happen, so don't fret that she'll have hair like mine LOL! I say just cut it all boy short and let it all grow out at the same time. From one curly girl to another...
BTW, got my hair cut today, too - shaggy shoulder length, so it's a little funky...not at all neat and tidy!
Gotta go, kid is whingy and I just cleaned him up...after he found a dog poo...I won't go into details, use your discretion (no, he didn't eat it!)...
Mel!! I just read your post - I must n't have refreshed the page!! What a little bugger!!!!!
Losing straight hair to stray scissors is one thing, losing fine, curly hair is just not trivial! It's monstrous! I feel the pain, Mel. Anyway, yes, we can carpool, although I was thinking that it might not be far from the train station...then we can have bubbly whilst we're there...
Nic, I dunno, I think I'd be pushing it a bit further with her - it's clear that for a birth with intervention, she'd really want to earn her pay, wouldn't she? Like, I thought it would be obvious that a debrief was part of her toolbox for her clients??? You could tell her that you are in contact with A LOT of birthing women and if anyone should happen to email or PM or ask you about her services, you can only recommend against hiring her. Great about the MCHN! Call around different GP clinics (I know that this is normally frowned upon), because there ARE GP's who will do this in the clinic for you...at this age it isn't necessary to send them off to a paed because the frenulum is so thin. When you leave it and need to do it later, the kid needs a paed, sedation or anaesthetic. I called one clinic that I was referred to and the appointment was too long away, so on a whim, I called my local GP and asked if she did it and voila! She did, so I slotted myself in. But I would have called around till I found one. There are no real disadvantages to getting it cut - there are no nerve endings there and the babies object more to being held down with mouth open than to what happens to their tongue! Oh, and the sooner the better, because it will take a bit for him to learn to feed properly. In more ways than one, it couldn't hurt to get it done!
Well done, Verity!
Thank you so much girls, I am feeling better today. Had a couple of Mothers Helpers out at dinner last night (thanks Bath!!) and that did the trick. MIL came over last night before I went out and she was just a mortified as me and asked if she could take her to the hairdressers, which I readily agreed to. I didn't want to take her incase they wanted to cut it all off. Thankfully, they didn't need to, they just layered the back and cut a bit of a fringe to use as a flap to cover the really short part. I just need to pull it across the bald bit and clip it, not too bad. It is only hair, and it will grow back. I have put pics on my homepage under "Chelsea after cut!". See for yourself what a job she did!
Julie - well done on the $2000, what a bonus. It will be so exciting to move into your new place and one with blinds lol!
Ali - I am hearing so many stories of little girls cutting their hair, so glad my child is not alone lol!!!!
Tali - another hair cutter too!! Sounds like a great day at DS's swimming carnival. I am sure he loved that his mum stayed around to watch.
Bath - how fantastic, you must be a very proud mum. Pass on my congrats to Verity. Have you decided what her reward will be, I am sure she has her eye on something nice.
Maya - I bet your hair looks awesome cut a little shorter. I was going to get them to snip Chelsea's hair off, but I was too scared!!!! They layered it, so hopefully when it does eventually grow it won't look too silly. Hairdresser said that it was lucky she has light coloured, curly hair as its easier to hide mistakes. You cannot do anything to cover up on straight hair. One blessing I suppose. Oh not dog poo again! I am glad you clarified it by saying he didn't eat it. I don't mind driving, I hate catching the train at night - too creepy!!!!
Nic - so sorry, I missed your post in my time of ranting! Tyron is gaining weight well and how frustrating that you seem to be getting no where with the tongue tie issue. Hopefully you will find someone who'll take you seriously. $200 is still alot to pay for someone who did nothing! See how you go, but I would try to fight for some more back. She did do what she said she was going to.
Dinner out was fantastic lastnight and for those in Melb, it was called Blue Corn in St Kilda (Mexican food) and it was brilliant, very unusual but great flavours. It was the perfect tonic for my stressful day. Quiet one today. Marley is still not 100%, but her nose is drying up and she is starting to become a bit happier. Going to the Berwick Baby & Kids Market tomorrow, should be fun. Better go and do my fruit and veg shopping before they close!
Everyone have a great weekend :)
Oh Mel, I can see why you were so devastated that she cut her hair, she cut a fair hunk out of it didn't she. I'm glad that you now have a way to cover it up some, big hugs.
Well we're still waiting to here about the houses, hopefully by Monday we will know. God we only have a week until we move and no house, bloody moving is so stressful.
hugs xoxo
Mel - oooo she took quite abit off didn't she! I guess as soon as it grows back a little it will fine as soon as you can't see her scalp - and it does look ok with the clip in now - if you didn't know already i don't think anyone would guess. Can see why you were so upset. ......Photos to show her when she is an adult!
Amanda - poor you, must be so stressful being so close to having to move and still no word ont he houses - good luck - hope you get good news on Monday.
Well we went to see the house today and iam pretty mad. The tilers must have left as soon as the foreman and i left on wednesday and have not been back as not a single tile has been laid!!! They were supposed to have finished by tomorrow! The builders will be getting a preety stressed email on Monday followed by a phonecall if i haven't heard anything by 10am!
Hope you are all having a good weekend
Julie x
Mel: checked out Chelsea... gee she cut it quite short didn't she! But you've concealed it nicely with that little clip. Her saving grace is that she has fine wispy hair... Verity's was thicker and straighter and it really stood out more.
I'll do personals on Monday... geeze it's after midnight AGAIN and here I still am... tsk tsk No hiding now that sis is a member... she sends me PMs telling me to go to bed but she's just as bad playing Wheel of Fortune all hours of the night! LOL and I saw you on MahJong again the other night Mel! hehe I can't for the life of me work out how that highest score was achieved  I got out a game with all perfect matches and it still didn't take me any higher...
Amanda - thank you! I tend to freak out a bit too much sometimes lol!!! Its only hair. You have more to worry about with moving, sending big, huge positive house vibes to you for Monday.
Julie - I even kept the hair she cut off and that will be coming out, along with the photos, at her 21st! I'd be peeved at the tiler too, thats pretty slack. Time to kick some butt!
Bath - its now 12.40am and I am on here tsk, tsk, me too LOL!!! I am really glad that Chelsea has fine hair now, I used to think it was a nuisance, but not now! I can imagine Verity's as her hair is so thick. Mahjong is so addictive! But I have been good these past few days. You need to pick a game that has 4 full sets of tiles (like the one I play, 4 or 5 clicks to the left) to get a high score. You get more points for matching the seasons (you prob already know that) so that bumps the score up. I managed to reach 2nd place with 588 but can't crack the 600. It think thats why I am so addicted, I just want to try and beat the high score!
Got Chelsea some headbands so it covers up her hair a bit better, she is very happy with her selection. Had a friend come over tonight, it was his birthday and we cooked up an Asian feast. We had prawn rice paper rolls, spring rolls, chinese pork spare ribs with plum sauce and then to top it off, home made banana and pineapple fritters with golden syrup and icecream!!! My arteries are clogging just typing this LOL!!! It was delicious, but very filling. He has only just left, and I am not really that tired yet. Prob will be tomorrow. My SIL can't go to the market with me tomorrow, so I need to decide if I am going to go. Might do some gardening instead and start my herb garden.
Sleep tight everyone! :)
Hi girls, me again at 4.40am. Can't sleep (cue: sheepish grin). If I didn't know better I would think labour had started - bubs is pushing so hard into my pelvis, I think that was what woke me up! Only reason I am nervous about it (I am technically 37 weeks and "Full Term" tomorrow if you consider 2nd Dec to be my due date so transfer from birth centre to hossy for a pre-term is no longer an issue) is because I bought tickets to the Spaghetti Western Orchestra as an early surprise birthday pressie for DH for next Saturday! So a long and nervous wait to see if my money was wasted LOL!!
Hey ladies,
I'm still alive.
The long awaited meet came yesterday. We took Kate out to meet L*** and I believe it was a success. They got along really well and even his partner was there which was interesting to say the least.I was good, I didn't kill her even though boy did I want to, 8 yrs has made me angrier I guess.
Kate has been spending a lot of time with Shazz and I guess that has made things a bit easier, although because I am now in contact with L***, Dh and I are on the warpath with each other. Dh doesn't want me to talk to the ex, but eveytime I try to explain to him that I have sharing the past 8 yrs of Kates life with him, he thinks I want him back....Which I absolutely DO NOT! I just want him to be proud of his daughter. Kate has decided to call her bio dad,L***, his partner, Aunty S***, his mum S*****, and his dad D***. His girls haven't met Kate yet and I'm a bit concerned why, but I guess L*** will explain in due time.
Pat has been running around and it's starting to become apparent that his lazy eye that I noticed from birth, might actually be impairing his vision, knocking into walls , etc.... Will get it checked when I can.
Mel- I hear you about cutting of hair! Bella did hers the other day! Down to the scalp in the front!Thank god she has got a long piece to cover it!
Mel- OMG what a cheeky girl, i would have been as devistated as you were, just checked out the pics and yes good chunk missing there but at the very worst you know it will grow back hey?! What you did with the clip looked quiet fine i thought.
Jess- hmmm tough call, i can understand your DH getting upset but he really needs to see the big picture, do you think he may also feel like Kate wont see him as a dad the more she gets to know her bio dad? i can imagine my dh feeling that way if we were in a similar instanst.
i still havent conotacted my doula, why cant i do it?! I was planning to send an email?? i hate confrentation even though i know i am in the right, i know i did not get a service from her and surely she has to know that also. The sad thing is the time i did meet her and speak to her we seemed to get on well and she was very nice. But right when i needed her most she wasnt around.
Rory- Congrats on getting to FT yayyy!! i think you will have a late Nov bub 29th or 30th im going!
Julie- i hope you sort those builders out how frustrating
If you want to read my exciting news check out my post! I wont re write it all but Tyron is on the boob!
Breast Refusal-Exhausted all idea's - Page 2 - BellyBelly Forums ~ Pregnancy, Birth & Baby
Oh yay! Nic! checking out the link now...
Rory - full term already! I hope you get to the show next week and Little One stays put for a bit longer.
Jess - must be the season for cutting hair! Glad the meeting went well, but DH needs to understand that Kate needs to get to know her bio dad and if you wanted ex back you would have done so before now. Why are men so insecure? Its even better that Kate enjoyed the visit too.
Nic - just posted in your thread, awesome news! I am sure you will pluck up the courage to contact her soon, and it doesn't have to be confrontational, just explain how you feel let down and see where the conversation goes. Good luck.
Didn't get to the market or Bunnings! Just spent a fairly lazy day at home, finished my washing and playing with the kids. Chelsea wanted to go the park again (already went this morning!) so DH took her. Where do they get all their energy from?
Can't remember much of the day, hit my head and have been trying to remember what I have done.
My ex's sister has had a rough time in Melbourne and has decided to move back this way, so we offered her a bed here and she has accepted. So Shazz is now living here!
Have got a terrible headache so will leave it there, just wanted to touch base with all of you.
Love yous all
Jess- how & what did you hit your head on? I hope you are alright, not concussed or anything??
How do you think the ex's sister staying will impact on your DH? is he ok with it?
take care of yourself and head to the docs if you possibly can
we had a great weekend here. Saturday went down woollongong way where my gf lives to try on bridesmaids dresses. DH drove us down and i took Ty with us and he went and took Nixon for a play in the park and walk with his Trike. Once we were finished we had lunch, Nix was really good and sat on a big seat and ate his sanga and shared my milkshake!
Yesterday some of DH friends come over for a bbq, we sat outside as weather was lovely. Nix had a ball playing in the dirt, eating chalk and being a typical boy!
This morning i drive for the first time and did the grocery shopping with the boys on my own! went well cause it wasnt a busy time, but coming home it was full on and it took me 2.5hrs to unpack everything in between feeding, naps, nappy changes etc etc!
hope you are all well
nic- Yeah for getting your freedom to drive back must feel nice. LOL at the food shop brings back many memories mind you my kids were older so really have to hand it to you girl who have them that close together I know I couldnt do it. I still have a hard time coping with my cry baby Kai she still seam so little to me cant get over you have another to deal with and so will rory and ali soon.
Jess- hope your head feels better today, Is DH ok with shazza I guess he is as otherwise I doult she would be there I know my DH would not cope with that and have to say if the shoe was on the other foot dont know if I would be so understanding. good luck with it all its good that DD gets to know her aunt anyway.
Bath- had a read through your 20 question answers feel like I know you better already lol, what good questions though really made me think.
well haven't been doing much here just the same old same old, May was giving me a cuddle today when she started the touch my upper leg ( where all my streech marks are) and with and very confused look asked me why do I have all thoses cracks on my legs. If she wasnt so cute I could have slaped her lol and here I was thinking I was look good in my short, shorts, and they are a bit shorter than I like but thought they looked ok but maybe I wont be wearing these again.
But like I have alway said It was with the grace of God that I got all my " cracks" on the back of my butt and legs as that way they are always behind me so when I look in the mirror I cant see them and that way I can forget I have them.
DH is cool with Shazz being here as we treat her really as a little sister.
I'm not really sure about how I hit my head, all I can really remember is talking to DH, turning around and then the next thing I remember is waking up on my bed.DH said I was out for about 20 mins so I have taken it easy and if I feel like I'm getting worse, I'll get to the doctors.
Jess- if you passed out then you should have gone to the doctor straight away but not much they can do now, so rest up and feel better. I thought DH must have been ok with it, like I said dont know if I would have been but I guess with shazz been so young it would make things much eaiser.
Well I just thought I would let you all know that we have are 1st tropical low of the season hanging around well not us but png so we are getting bucket loads of rain ( wish I could send some down) but its the season and we have started. I know this sounds bad but I hope we get one this year before we move away from them all together, dont get me wrong I dont want a big one where people get there stuff damaged but just to say I have been in one and not a cat 1 as I have been in one of those and I have seen more wind on a melbourne beach in summer.
for those of you who have not seen I have posted a nice little "christmas hint" that got my mum and dad through many christmas's and is my own little life saver.
Well I have some good news finally, I got a call yesterday afternoon to say we have finally got a house, YAY. So hopefully we can move this weekend but the builders still have to fix a few things, so they have said that next Wednesday would be the move date but because they know DH can't get time off during the week they will see if the builders can do it by the weekend, so fingers crossed. My stress levels have gone down 100% so I'm feeling heaps more relieved, now I have to clean the house up spick and span, having the carpets cleaned on Saturday. I just can't believe that we finally have a house, hopefully this will mark the new beginnings for a new bub as well. Ok better go and start to clean.
hugs xoxo
oh so happy for you Amanda thats great news!
ad yes a good omen for a new house, new bubba!
Just quickly because am just home from PlayGroup.... yay! Amanda!!! I hope it is a new beginning for you all too... we have moved a lot and life has gotten better with each move without fail.... in one way or another :) Wishing you the best for a smooth transition!
Yay Amanda on getting a house, I know how stressful the whole thing is, having been there and done it lots in the last few years. I agree with Bath, every move has bought great things for us and I hope the same happens to you.
Nic- I just wanted to say great news on the BF front, you must be so relieved that yo perserved and achieved what you were working for.
Things here are great, I am loving being on leave and getting lots of different bits and pieces done that have been waiting for months and months. I am almost all ready for chrissy, just 1 layby to pick up and wrap.
I had a appt. with my doc yesterday and everything is just going great with bubs, I am stoked because I have managed to maintain the same weight since 24 weeks, so have only pur on a total of 6 kgs for this pg, which wll hopefully make loosing weight afterwards easier. Bubs is head down but not engaged, which is fine with me, and bp etc is all good.
Anyway better go and tackle the mountain of ironing in my laundry, hopefully I will get most of it done before Tori wakes up from her nap!
tali - hope you get the storm, but not a big one! I saw your xmas hint, so funny I think I might have to start using it.
Amanda - big congrats to you, thats great news. Onwards and upwards they say, I'm sure once you'll love your new place. Having not moved very often, I can't offer any advice on that front (been in our house nearly 13 years!).
Bath - just noticed you are Wheel of Fortune Champ!!! Go girl!! Have you been staying up late playing LOL!!!!
Ali - glad your are enjoy your leave, must feel great. You are so organised to have your xmas stuff sorted. Did you plan to do it that way with bub due or are you just very organised lol!!! 6kg is fantastic, well done. You often find with the second pregnancy that the bub doesn't engage until labour actually starts. Hope you get through your mountain of laundry.
Work today, not too bad. Busy but not too busy. I think Chelsea is well on her way to being toilet trained at night YEAH!!! We have been having so many dry nights its fantastic, and she is only wearing undies to bed. I think having the undies on has made it better for her. She has 2 more nights before she gets her requested Care Bear with the rainbow on its tummy!
Time for coffee!
Hi Ladies
Just popping in to hi and have a grumble about my completely crappy day yesterday - 1st off al poor Will fell so hard into a bed that he has pushed one of his front teeth backwards - i posted full story "the joys of boys" - still dont know how to link. he seems ok now although i keep giving him panadol in the day and nurofen at night.
Then when i was feeding the boys tea a huge panel of glass next to our patio doors shatter at around 6am due to the heat. Of course DH had just flown to Canberra so i was on my own and had no idea what to do. I phoned my landlady and her and her DH came over straight away and were so good. They sorted someone to come and fix it (he arrived at 9pm) and they stayed until he'd finished and helped tidy, so as much as ive had a few probs with them in the past, they were great - i've sent them some flowers today. I'm so tired though as i stayed up till 11.30pm mopping and hoovering as i was so scared of glass getting in the boys feet -it was everywhere! It's still outside but i'm too tired to deal with that - maybe later when they are in bed tonight.
anyway, ill shut up now and just grumble to myself - hope you are all having a good day
Julie x
Oh julie you are having a bad trot of late. Has it been three things yet? I hope so. Thank God that you and the kids were no where near. I would have S**t myself. Why is it thing always happen when the men go away? a gf of mine just found a mouse in her house as her DH is away they have only been in the house three months plus they are the 1st ones in it, so you would think it would have no mice.
Mel- good on Chelsea on the night training sound like she is doing really well and will love getting her much deseverd care bear. But just be parpared for if the weather gets a really cold then she may wet again as she wont be sweating out the water she might otherwise have done in the heat. My kids will tend to have a wet night the first night we go down to visit my parents in melbourne due to this. as the drink the same amount of water but dont sweat like they do up here just have to tell them to go to the toilet more but notice that kai's night nappy will be a bursting point.
Ali- I am in amazment that you have only put on 6 kg I think that I put on that in the first month lol, good on you hopefully that means a easier weight loss.
Amanda- yeah on the house always at the last minute isn't just enough to let you really starting to panic and then presto you get one. The universe really works in wonderful ways.
Well DH is home tommorrow so once again I might be a bit quite for a while but he did just buy himself a new road bike so I am sure he will want to go on many rides, and so he should for the price he paid for it. So I will try to pop in then..
That's a good tip regarding toilet training Tali... I think you might have something there. Wade is also doing really well keeping his pull-ups dry in bed... more often than not he wets it at breakfast! :( I am so busy with Niall when we get up that I forget to take him when he wakes up... he should be able to do it himself but I guess, being a bloke, food is on the forefront of his mind! LOL
Mel: I can't take credit for all those big wins in the arcade lately... DH has discovered the games and is determined to systematically win them all.... even that infuriating Chuckie Egg! He doesn't like PacMan though so my result in that one is genuine! he also isn't keen on MahJong so there's no threat there! Keep pluggin' away at it Mel!
Off to read your Joys of Boys thread Jules...
Hiya girls :)
I have been cleaning like a mad thing today - not heavy physcial stuff, but all the "not seen" jobs - polishing the kettle, shaking out the toaster, washing the stove trivets, cleaning out the inside rubbish bins....just nesting I guess LOL!! It is a real novelty for me to have so much time with Flynn too - today we used crayons for the first time! But I didn't realise it would be so hard to tell him it was time to stop - I just don't have the patience ATM to sit and let him scribble until he is bored LOL!
Sorry for no personals - off for a shower then beddy-byes.;)
Hi all
Have been away and been slowly catching up where everyone is at.
TT - Benjamin used to be like Wade Bath with the filling the pull up/nappy at breakfast thus the move to undies at night cause then he'd go when he got up rather than in the pull up at the breakfast table. I used to put it down to laziness with Benjamin as well as the food - in some ways - I can have my cake and eat it too - can get breakfast faster cause I have a pull up on so just go in that. We still get a night (or often two in a row) a month of wet beds.
Like Tali though the night temperatures used to make a difference to whether or not the nappies/beds were dry in the morning.
Julie - lets hope your bad run's over. Read your "Joys of Boys" thread and it is almost identical to a friend of mines - they now have there fingers crossed for no permanent damage as a result of head collecting bed and damaging all teeth on one side of mouth.
Amanda - yeah on the house!!!! hope the timeline works in your favour. We could be moving again soon too - I have my fingers crossed for not moving but will have to wait and see.
Nickers - great news on the BF front!!!! yeh and glad you had a nice day in Woolongong
Jess - hows the head???
Ali - sounds like you've got your second wind now that you are on leave
Rory - is bubs still hanging in there??? ETA snap - obviously is LOL
Tali - apparently you guys have had a tonne of rain - we've had two spits in the last two days - a bit frustrating though with working out whether to hang the washing out and water the grass - we could really do with the rain too (I'm sure by the end of the wet I won't be saying that).
Anyway had better go - hi to everyone
Rory: the theatrics of premature removal can sometimes be avoided by distraction... just bring out something more appealing and they usually just drop the crayon after which you can surreptitiously remove it avoiding WWIII. Niall is doing nice arching on paper... just a steady rhythmic scrawl. DH and Verity decided that he has 12 words in his repertoire now: dada (means me as well), oww-died (outside), BAH ba ba (any food in the fruit basket, especially banana), diddy (verity), bud-dah (bed time) and oysh (ice cream)... this last word is said very moistly, LOL I can sense that he is on the brink of starting to copy me... I can see him looking at my lips more when I speak and shaping his mouth at the same time. Before we know it our bubbas are going to become floods of speech.... once they get the idea on how to copy sounds and words it develops at a very rapid pace. Who else is saying some interesting words? Tori is quite vocal isn't she Ali? Oh and another cute thing he does is go "ahhhhhhhh" when i tell him to sing. Right on cue... it's our latest changetable game. He loves it when I harmonise with him making sounds like Tibetian throat singers LOL (is it tibet where they do that?)
ETA: Hiya Jaspen! :) That's interesting that the wetting at breakie isn't just a Wade thing... bit of a relief! I just need to catch him but the warmer months will help with the drying of bed and sheets if there are accidents anyhow. Good to see you!
Jaspen- my head is a bit better thanks for asking. I'm a bit foggy still with a couple of things, but Shazz and DH are filling in the blanks, apparantly I told everyone to go and get ready for school at 7.30pm!!!!!
Hi jaspen great to hear from you, I hope all is well in your camp.
Yeah Bath Tori is very vocal, at a guess I would say she has at least 50 words, probably more, and she is starting to string 2 words together. Her latest words in the last week or so have been noise, clock, story, and when we arrive home in the car from being out she always says home now. As for body parts she says, chin, eyes, hair, elbow, knee, foot, toes, teeth, legs and arms. Very cute, most her words are very close to the proper words which is great. LOL I think I have created a monster, she is going to be such a chatter box!
Rory- I am really into doing all those unseen jobs at the moment too, things like scrubbing out the inside of the fridge, tidying cupboards, and making sure everything is in its 'proper' place
I have really struggled with the heat the last few days, my feet are swollen like balloons by about 4pm even if I havent spent long on them during the day. We are heading for a cool change at the end of the week and dont think it can come soon enough. I asked DH last night why I thought it was a good idea to be pg dring summer, and he just rolled his eyes at me (he had said something to me about it when we were thinking of TTC, and I told him it would be fine).
Anyway I am off to bed, hopefully by the morning my feet will back to normal.
Good morning girls :) Gotta dash to collect Wade from Kinder but thought I'd say a quick hello... Oh Jess, you really ought to see a doctor about your concussion... that doesn't sound good... even if you mention it next time you take one of your kids to the doctor... just mention it incase there is something you need to look out for. Gotta look after yourself 'cos you need to be there for your kiddies darl.
Ali: yep. Verity was an early speaker like Tori... it's usually the way with girls... just generally speaking. But don't worry our little men will catch up and fill the house with chatter! I just love it when they are fully engrossed in playing and narrate their own little story. Wade most frequently recites Thomas The tank Engine episodes... I'm continually amazed at the words he picks up and remembers. I can't remember when he started doing that... it seems like forever.
Got my Chrissy cake in the oven... takes 4.5 hours to cook on 140'C. I like to do it mid November then baste it (the correct term is "feed" it) with rum until the week before Christmas. I'll do my plum pudding on the weekend. I use Delia Smith recipes for both... they are the most reliable and traditional that I've found.
Nic: How's Tyron going.... I'm thinking of you guys all the time hoping that his feeding is still going well :)
Better think about waking Niall up for kinder collection...
Bath- You just made me realise just how quickly this year has ticked by because I remember when we were talking about christmas cakes and christmas puddings last year............what a journey hey!
Bath - so DH has turned into a games addict, just like us LOL!!! I remember the xmas cake too and Delia Smith. She used to be on Ch 7 on Sat afternoons. I'm sure the cake will be just as good, if not better than last years. After all that "feeding", it should be well flavoured.
Julie - your poor little man! And then the window, how bloody scary. Glad to hear you are all OK and his tooth is fine. My GF's DD feel off a seat onto a concrete floor and smashed her front teeth at 18mths. She had to have surgery to remove them, one was embedded into the roof of her mouth. She is now 5 and still toothless, but we don't even notice it. I think she will look rather funny with teeth, when they grown back. The girls can be just as accident prone as the boys!!! Lets hope no more disasters, or at least none until DH gets home LOL!!
Tali - thats interesting about the weather. They always say to TT in summer, maybe thats why? We had another dry night last night, so one more and the care bear is hers!!! I think its been so much better without the pullups, she feels like a big girl now. I am prepared for some accidents, but so far I am really proud of how well she is doing. She is even thinking ahead to what she wants next.
Rory - your house will be sparkling! You are entitled to have limited or no patience at the moment. Good decoy idea Bath suggested - I have used similiar to avoid tantrums!
Jess - the echo will continue from me, you should definately be seeing a doctor.
Jaspen - great to see you back. Has it been dry where you are? Seems everywhere is dry at the moment.
Ali - swollen feet is not pretty and is very uncomfortable. Chelsea was a January baby and I had swollen feet for at least 2 mths. They were always sore and I had to wear thongs to work (looked very elegant with my suit LOL!!!). You need to try and keep them elevated for as long as you can, even when sitting at the dining table or on the couch, keep them up. It will make the swelling stay down but as soon as you stand up, you can feel the fluid running down to your legs. And avoid soaking your feet in cold water, but warm water is fine. So go rest your poor feet.
Maya - how are you going, enjoying your freedom?
Words - Marley hardly says anything other than her own babble. She constantly walks around the house, chatting to herself but I cannot understand a word of it. She says mumma sometimes and one word she always says is Lilly, which is MIL's dog! She also says "what" to everything. She is very good at listening and understanding what I ask her as I was worried maybe she couldn't hear, but I can be in another room and call her or ask her to get something and she can understand and hear me. Chelsea started to talk at and early age too, wonder if its a first child thing? Second ones don't need to talk so quickly as they have their own "speaker" in the older sibling? What do others think, esp those with 2+ kids?
Had a cooking disaster today. On 9am with David & Kim a while ago, they cooked Jam Donut Muffins. My GF called me last night and said she made them and they were delicious. I tried them today and they definately don't look like the picture and they taste OK, but I am sure I stuffed something up!!! Chelsea still thinks they are good.
Maybe they will be better with a coffee!! :)
Hmm, I wonder what went wrong Mel... you've got me curious! I hadn't had a donut in years but last weekend, while I was at Melbourne Central doing my Chrissy shopping, I decided to conduct an experiment LOL I bought a coffee and a donut from Donut King for $3.70 and then was thinking to myself "I wonder what all the hype is about Krispy Kreme donuts?" so I went up stairs and bought a plain cinnamon one from them and then sat down and compared them! My verdict is that Donut King ones are better, for several reasons: they have more "substance" meaning they aren't so fluffy soft that you squash the whole donut with a single bite which is what the KK one did :( also, the DK one had a more "real" flavour, more authentic, the taste was good because of the fragrant spiciness, not just based on pure sweetness like the KK one which i found to be too sweet and have a very vague unnatural, artificial flavour to it. They were pretty much the same size. Finally the KK one was $2.50 for that single donut! Bit of a rip off when i got a coffee as well as a donut from DK for $3.70. KK have heaps of different flavours though.... maybe there are others that i will like although DH reckons a colleague of his ate a Curry Chicken donut from KK last week... eeeeek! I don't know whether I'd be keen on that!
Julie: How are his teeth today??? Is there bruising as well? Poor little guy!
Cake out of the oven.. looking great...I also meant to say I'm going to have a go at icing it with marzipan with some Christmassy marzipan decorations as well... never attempted that before!
DH has recently been invited to a 20 yr high school reunion! Going to start a thread about other people's experiences...
Bath - I think the mix wasn't wet enough? It just seemed to dry to me. They are more muffin than donut, but they were a bit dry inside. KK donuts are awful and expensive. Donut King and Mr Donut (which you can buy at the supermarket) are the yummiest and like you said, do taste like real donuts. KK ones are so high in fat, probably double the DK ones. I think KK are so overrated! Chicken Curry donut, how disgusting!!!
I have heard marzipan is quiet easy to work with, although I have only ever worked with royal icing. You are so clever with that sort of stuff, I'm sure you'll do them great.
I missed my 15 year reunion. I would love to have gone to see what people are up to.
I have a school uniform question. I have ordered Chelsea her summer school dress and I have 2 options - size 6 or 8? Chelsea is a pretty lean girl and the sz 8 looked massive. I was hoping to get one to last her maybe 2 years, should I buy one of each or just get 2 x size 6? I am bit clueless with this type of thing lol!
