Hi everyone! Havent posted in a while - our laptop was in being repaired and I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms :P

Things havent been going the best for us. Mikayla has been on Mylanta for her reflux which was great for the first few days but now its no longer working. The poor thing screams in pain between feeds and you can actually smell the acid when she brings up. I'm using thickner in her formula which has helped the vomiting slightly but you still have to keep her upright for at least 30mins after every feed and even then the reflux is still in full force when you put her down. I've tried propping up her bassinett but it didnt help and she's now at the point where she'll only sleep in our bed with one of our full sized pillows under her head. I'm going to make another appointment with the paed to discuss meds which he mentioned might be necessary at her 6 week check. He also said that she has some degree of lactose intolerance so shes now on lactose free formula and no more breast milk. I have to say I felt a bit guilty about not being able to breast feed her anymore but I cant say that I miss it!

Does anyone know much about Tressillian??? My OB suggested it as we're having alot of trouble getting her to sleep at night. The only long sleeps she has (occassionally 5 hours) are during the day then she's up pretty much all night. He said that the reflux has alot to do with her being unsettled but suggested that we contact and go to see the people at Tressillian or Karitane for some help before things get out of hand. You can spend a day at their clinic or sometimes even a week if necessary so that they can help you sort out feeding or sleeping problems but I dont know anyone else who's used them before.

I dont know why but she still isnt latching onto the bottle properly. She had the same problem with breast feeding but I thought she would have grown out of it by now. You put the teat in her mouth and she just shakes her head from side to side screaming because she wants it but just doesnt seem to realise its there iykwim. Its just so frustrating!!!

Sorry about the whinge but I dont really have anyone else (apart from DH) who understands my frustration and I know you ladies do!

I also apologise for not doing personals but theres so much to catch up on in here I havent had a chance to read all of your posts yet.

Your photos are all absolutely gorgeous and its great to hear that all bubs are thriving! I weighed Mikayla yesterday and she's 4.7kg (3.580 at birth). We just cant believe how quickly she's growing!

Zofia I remember you asking previously where abouts in Sydney I'm from. We live in the South West and have a business in the Inner West. How about you?? Your right there dont seem to be too many people on here from Sydney Metro. The only other person I know of in this thread is Sarah (mumoflewis).

Well its almost feeding time so I'd better get going. Will try to read through the thread and post some personals later on.

Hope your all well and enjoying your little bundles!! Take care xx

    Hi Tina,

Good to see you back! Sorry to hear about Mikyla's reflux Have you tried anything from the Brauers range as its all natural. I got the stomach calm and the first time I gave it to him he slept for 9 hours!

Regarding Tresillian my SIL went for 4 days. She did find it useful, they taught her about controlled crying and dream feeding. I also know a girl who went to a 2 hour Karitane sleep school session and they taught her similar things, methods to get them to sleep. It seems the 'letting them cry for a set time and then going and patting them' is the way to go. Apparently it takes about 3 nights of hell and then they can settle themselves! I find Lewis sleeps for 4-5 hours during the day and only 2-4 in the night aswell and wondering when it will change! I have tried waking him up after 4 hours in the day but he just falls asleep again whilst feeding so it defeats the object.

Anyway I must get to bed, Lewis has just dropped to sleep. I have had Laryngitis and completely lost my voice so it's nice to be able to 'talk' to you guys instead!! I have been wearing a mask to feed Lewis, he must wonder what's going on!
