Hellooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Taking a rare moment before having to be milky-moo-bar-mummy again!!
Oh Naomi & Princessmya!! You girls are so wonderful and amazing!! I am proud of you both with all that you are both sharing - you truly are wonderful mummies!! An dit is so true that it's all worth it when they give you the most precious snuggle - DD#2 nuzzles her face into my neck!! Awwwwwwwww :heartbeat:
I've been having a really bad parent stint to the point I smsed DH and told him I suck at being mummy to our girls!!
DD#1 is really trying my weary brain with tears atm that I am finding my fuse is almost non existent it is that short!! But thankfully, have had the best day in a loooooooooooooong time today.....so am treading cautiously and hoping that we are onto something good.....:fingerscrossed:
DD#2 has decided to not go as long between her 10pm feed and the next now.....poo! She was going til approx 5.30/6am and now barely gets past 4/4.30am which I guess is great, EXCEPT I am awake from about 2am, listening to her snort and fuss but remain asleep! Feel like I have gone backwards and am getting less sleep again......bottom!
Just looked at time, will need to duck off and feed shortly so am hoping will bbl - which could be anytime in the lives of mummies with newborns hey?!?! ;)
Although, funny thing today - am amazed I found it funny but DD#2 did SUPER-poo so had to do emergency bath!! OMG!! How far up her back it went!!!!! So instead of fussing with all bits'n'bobs that I usually get organised for bath time, just filled up bathroom sink and bathed her in that! She was so precious coz she watched my reflection in the mirror with big smiles!! Kinda like, "Thank you mummy for de-pooing me, feels much better, ta!!"
Anywhos, better dash, but like I said, hopefully will bbl......take care lovlies!!
Oh and naomi, you made me laugh when you said your munchkin was being a 'bum head'!!! ROFL!!!
Oh and would love to hear from you girlies who also have toddlers as well as your newborn.....coz like I said, I've been having a bad parenting stint that I even asked DH to keep DD#1 & I in separate rooms the other day coz just listening to her whinge and cry for no reason was making my brain fry!!!OR is it just me?!?!?!?!?!
-
Charly - I can only just manage with Lewis so I admire you having 2 little girls to look after! I'm sure you are doing a brill job. You mothers of 2 or more bubs deserve medals, I think Lewis will have to be at least 4 before I attempt to have another one!!
I am exactly the same as you though, I wake up and listen to Lewis's noises at least an hour before he actually wakes up! When DH asks me in the morning what time did he wake, I always make sure I tell him what time I woke up first so it sounds more dramatic;)!
-
Hi girls!
Sorry I've been MIA. I have been here and reading all your posts, I've just been struck down with a terrible cold/flu thing for the past few days and haven't felt like posting. I've been expressing into bottles, so family members can feed Caeleb. I don't want him to catch this! I feel so bad, because I know that he must be missing me... but, what's worse?!?
We're all smiles and giggles all the time now. He makes my heart melt constantly with those huge gummy smiles... but I guess you all know what I'm talking about. How lucky are we!!!
Sorry for the "selfish" post. There's been so much chatter in here, there's no way I could catch up on you all.
Anyway, I need to go die again in bed... :(
Celsie. xoxox
-
Oh Celsie!! I am so sorry to hear that you got sick!! Like having a newborn isn't challenging enough!! It completely sucks I know (had my turn 2weeks ago - did the same, expressed so others could feed DD) So am sending you  - big healthy vibing ones!!! Take care lovely!! Btw, don't apologise for *selfish posts* - I think considering what we have all been through and what we are all currently going through, *selfish posting* can be just what the doc ordered sometime - so we're all entitled to our selfish moment..................or ten!!!! :p ....I know I'll be making my fair contribution every now and then!! :D hehehe!!
Hope you are all doing well - won't post long as the 'good day roll' with DD#1 started and ended yesterday  so she is currently glued to my lap and now have to go hang out washing - wakadoo!!
Am trying to keep up with all the posts though so will bbl!
Mwa!!!
-
Thanks Charly!!! You're such a gem. :) I'm actually feeling a little better today. My Dad is home with me, helping take care of Caeleb. It's interesting, considering that the last baby he helped take care of was me! LOL - But, he's trying his best and I really appreciate it. DH was going to come home from work, but Dad insisted he'd be okay.
I don't think taking care of a new born and a toddler would be the easiest task. I can only imagine how draining it must be for you. Well done you for being a "Super Mum!". I hope I'm just as good at it as you are one day too!
How many of you girls with older babies have had the dreaded 2 month shots at the doctors??? I've got to take Caeleb next week and I'm terrified. I'm tossing up whether or not to let him have the Rotavirus vaccine. One of the side-effects is a twisted bowel. I know side-effects are rare, but that one just worries me too much. I had rotavirus as an 18 month old. I was very sick, but I survived. I just don't know if it's worth letting him have the vaccine if that could happen. What do you all think?
Okay, must go express some more. My bb's are about to burst!!! LOL

Hi Girls,
Charly - I understand you on the newborn and DD#1 situation as you no i have one little girl who is 16mths old and a 6 week old now! And Ahhhhhh!! It can be so frustrating and sometimes i feel as if i am favoring one over the other as DD#1 can try and make me feel bad! NEVER EVER THINK YOU SUCK AT BEING MUMMY TO YOUR GIRLS you are not at all. It can be so dam hard some days i have a saying to people when they ask how are things and i say to them " I don't have time to fart let alone anything else" That then puts a smile on my dial and i have a chuckle to myself! I had tayneesha in for day surgery last week she got grommets in her ears she was a good little girl but it has been hectic for me the last 6 weeks with everything and on top of that Tayneesha is getting her 4 eye teeth through and i am completely over that too!:wall: it has been two weeks and nothing yet just red gums and her sooky whinging and stinky teething nappies and so on and so on AHHHHHHHH!!!
Looking on the bright side though I am fortunate verty fortunate that DD#2 sleeps well at night she will go to bed at 10-10.30pm and sleep till about 4.30am - 5am in the morn have a feed and then sleep more so this makes it alot easier that i can get sleep. I am not sure what your DD#2 sleeps but i could not imagine having less sleep than i have with a toddler my hat goes off to all of those women who can do it. I think i would just die!
DD#1 adores DD#2 and cuddles and kisses her all the time to the extent that sometimes it is just over the top so i do as well have to move to another room and close the door just to feed her otherwise i get a tanty happening as DD#1 wants to feed her and do it  I have to laugh and it is rather cute.
Celsie - Hugs to you and hope you feel better soon it must be draining for you at the moment. I wouldn't even want to get out of bed. With the needles with my first daughter number one it was horrible i hated it but i got an inner strength from somewere and new that she had to have them otherwise she would get sick. She did cry for a bit so i fed her and she then fell asleep for a good 4 hrs or so. I would get the vaccine done but it is your decision at the end of the day maybe tel the doctor what happened to you so he can discuss it in more detail with you.:)
Anyway all well here Will try and BBl

Hi all, just popping in to say hi quickly. Have been very busy with Angus since his birth nearly 6 wks ago, looks like he's a reflux baby. We had a bit of a scare when he didn't gain much weight then lost a little one week and projectile vomited a lot - worried it was something really emergency serious. But looks like just bad reflux.
I don't know how people manage to feed their babies in public, Angus writhes, and grabs my nipple, and kicks so I have great difficulty positioning him and end up spending aobut 5 mins with the boob out before I can get him on. Was at a friends house with her 8 wk old the other night and she popped her on under the shirt in about 2 secs flat, no flashing, no writhing, etc - man, that would be nice!!! Will have to practice to see if I can get more adept, but perhaps just have an active little boy and there's nothing I can do!
I can hear him waking up now off to feed him. Hello to all, lovely to see how you are all getting on and to know that we're all not perfect - isn't it comforting to hear someone else has been through the same things?
Will try to pop in again soon.....
-
Feathertop
BF in public is hard! and something i am not yet a pro nor comfy doing... i have done a couple of times and yes feel like i am flapping my bb's in the wind...
Having quite large bb's (10f pre-preg) dont help either as they get hard to put back in a bra with a breast pad - need 2 hands to master, which means putting dd down in her pram with my bb's still flapping in the wind!.
Not to mention my let down squirting so i have to take dd off so she doesnt dribble down my shirt or choke and let it squirt off in a tissue/pad before putting her back on.
Could you imagine how much of a 10 minute feed involves me fussing over my bb's without dd attached.. not something i can do on a bench outside kmart!!!!
ATM still prefer t o feed in a parents room/ backseat of car etc... hopefully it will get easier. i hope angus calms down with the refkux.. big hugs, those projectile vomits are scary!
sorry girls if tmi! :P
A wonderful insight of a day in the life as princessmya's bb's!!! lol :)
-
Thanks Jen! You're a Super Mum too! I take my hat off to you girls juggling a newborn and a toddler. :)
Feathertop - I hope Angus grows out of his reflux. I was a a refluxy (not sure if that's a word LOL) baby and my Mum said I was 100 times better once I was able to sit up. :hugs:
PrincessMya - You poor thing. I only have small bb's and I find breastfeeding in public hard! It is embarrassing though. Although, I think I'm almost at the point of saying "who cares... they're only boobs, every second person in the world has them... there's nothing to see here... move on!!!" LOL
Caeleb is stacking on weight. He put on 320 grams last week. I have him weighed every friday. He's finally getting cute rolls of baby fat and chubby cheeks. LOL
Will BBL!
Celsie. xoxox
-
LOL - You girls and your bb stories! That's one part of breast feeding I don't envy! I never knew it would be such a drama getting them in and out!
And you're right, it's not the best thing to be doing outside K-Mart, wrestling your bb's back into your bra, you never know who's going to walk past at the wrong moment, probably an old school teacher or ex boyfriend!
I took Lewis into my work today to meet my colleagues. He was such a good boy, he got passed around about 10 people and didn't make a sound! Just stared at them all.
-
aaahhh I dont envy not breast feeding when it come to kmart lol
I've fed once, but was in parents rest room. Was worried someone would see more then i was willing to share!! Considering I have big bb's (E cup) i would have let them hang out to get him attached and when finished!!
Well i finally got my films developed, so i have added more to Lachies website, a few are newer ones some are from back in the hossy, hope you like, my fav one is his nudy time on the floor!!! AAHH I love my bubba
Well Ricks alarm is going off, better get him up before he wakes Lachie!!!
-
Funny post...
I'm a huge McLeod's Daughters fan. During my pregnancy, I watched every series on DVD back to back... even though I've seen every episode.
Last night, when the music to the opening credits started Caeleb turned his head right around to watch the tv and was GLUED to the screen. My Mum tried to talk to him (and got in-between Caeleb and the tv) and he SPAT it! LOL
DH said he was totally appalled with Caeleb.

Havent been on for a bit. I have been checking in occasionaly and reading posts, but, have been so busy.... so has this thread. Wow, hard to keep up with.
Feathertop - great to see you back! Have been wondering how you & Angus have been.
B/Feeding in public. NO CAN DO! Will not even feed in front of family. When i have been at shops, have always used the parents room. At friends, i will take EBM & Formula. We are both more comfortble laying down to feed.
I am actually seriously thinking of goign completly EBM. Aiden feeds fine when bbs are full, like during the night, and first feed in the morning, but, during the day, its hopeless. He gets so frustrated cause it doesnt come fast enough for him, and, also, i dont think there is enough. I have feed him at times, for like 45min, and, after that, he can still drink another 40 - 50ml. On Saturday night, i feed him from 5.30 till 6, and at 7, he drunk 140ml of EBM. After each feed, i express, to try and get more milk happening, but, i dont really think it is. So, i have been manual avent pump, and now want to get an electric one, as i imagine it to be alot quicker to use. ATM, feeding, changing, pumping, sterilising etc, can take up to, and over and hour at a time, and some days, that all i feel like i am doing.
He has 2 formula feeds a day. Yesterday, only 1 thou. I have got him going to bed at 10, sleeping 5 or 6 hours, then waking, feeding, and then sleeping another 3or so. So, i am back to about 7hours sleep a night. I want to try and get him to bed a 9. Have done well, we have gone from going to sleep at midnight, then, going to bed at 11, now its 10, so, will start on 9. I think he is nearly ready. He is awake nearly all day now.
Thanks a million Sarah for your suggestion of a musical swing. He spent a couple of hours in one on Friday at Michelles place, and on Saturday, i went and brought one. He loves it. I said to DH last night, batteries are far cheaper then a shrink! I have been so much happier now, i can put him down, and he will stay in it, happy as, cat napping, for a couple of hours. In the afternoon, not so happy, but still, i can get what i want done in the mornings, and then playtime when he is ready.
Oh, Aiden is now 4.81kg, and, 59cm. Put on 660grams in 2 weeks. Nurse says that i shouldnt be needing to top up his feeds with formula, but, then she turned around and said that he is a little underweight for his height. It didnt make sense, annoyed the crap out of me. Obviously I DO NEED to top up his feeds with formula if he is a little underweight?? Silly woman. I will take him back for his 3month check, and then, might not worry about going back after that. Will just go to my GP. They bulk bill for kids under 5 anyway.
Have a great day all!
-
ok Just got back from Dr's for 6week check up, boy my bubba is a big boy LMAO

Length
Birth: 51cms
2weeks 2days: 53cms
6weeks 2days: 58.5cms (in the 70% percentile!! 20% above average!!)
Head Circumference
Birth: 36cms
2weeks 2days: 37cms
6weeks 2days: 40.5cms (in the 90% percentile, 40% above average!!)
Dr kept saying how perfect he looked, how strong he was, how alert he was, how advanced he was, and Lachlan lapped it up and just beamed smiles back at the Dr!!!
I love my little big boy!!
-
wow Naomi - you must be adding something extra to that formula! Your little (Big) man is the same height as Aiden, but, 750ish grams heavier!! Goes to show that breast is not necessarily best - you are doing good! Lachlan was only 200grams heavier then Aiden at birth
-
Naomi and Debbie - sounds like Lachlan and Aiden are doing really well. :)
Caeleb is now 4.850 kilo. What happened to my little elf baby?!? LOL - He had a champion sleeping effort last night. We put him down at 8pm and he didn't wake up till 3am. His nappy was soaked!
Oh... I almost forgot. I've broken my EBM record. The record stood at 180mls expressed in one session. It's now 210mls!!! LOL - Just had to share that with you girls, because I know you understand my excitement.
I've ordered some cloth nappies. I'm switching over when Caeleb at 3 months. Can't wait for them to arrive. Is anyone else going down the cloth path?!?
Celsie. xoxox

Celsie
I think about cloths... we always have a cloth nappy under Ashleys bottom when we are changing her and she ALWAYS manages to poo on it once her nappy is off! lol. I think we will probably stick to disposables though, dont know if i can clean off all that poo all the time!
Ashley had her needles yesterday and she did really well, settled straight away after, had a feed and then slept for 2 hours! In the evening though she screams inconsolably for a hour - we had to get her panadol to calm down, but she is rosy as this morning... poor little legs.
She is now 4.67kg (bith weight 2.66kg) so she is doing well!
Went to big w and they are selling all their winter stock off so i bought some size 1 bonds sleepingbags and hoodies for next winter ($5 each!!! bargain)....
HOpe all it well
PM
p.s can anyone help me how to put a pic in my signature... it asks for a webpage http but i dont have one... cant i just upload it somehow?
-
hey PM,
just quickly, you should be able to upload a pic to your sig, although not quite sure how lillypie works.
I know with mine, i had to click on browse, select pic from file on computer, then upload, if you want i can have a look and see what i can do? if you would like to email me the pic you want uploaded to naomi_washington@hotmail.com i can have a go for you tomorrow, otherwise i will have a look at the site tomorrow and try it myself then i can give you the run down.
Hey Deb, i think he just going to be a very tall broad boy when he grow up!! wow at the difference between Aiden and Lachie now considering how close they were at birth and only 3days between them!!
Hey Sarah, Caeleb sounds like he is doing rather well himself. Your little Elf baby is growing up!! LOL
and CONGRAULATIONS on breaking your expressing record
sorry for no more personals, have been up since 4am this morning and the bum head still playing up!!
Talk to you all tomorrow
NIGHT

PrincessMya - I'd be more than happy to sort out your ticker. If you email me your photo and Ashley's date of birth I'll send you back the code you need to post in your signature on BellyBelly. :) My email is: srasche@bigpond.com - I'm glad Ashley went well with her needles. I'm not looking forward to next week at all! I was told to give him panadol 1/2 hour before the appointment, so I'll give that a go. When Caeleb was born, his blood sugar level was low, so they had to pr!ck his foot every time after he'd feed to to get blood to check the levels. I'm sure he's forgotten all about them, but I haven't forgotten how much it would make him cry!!! :(
Cloth nappies - I'm not using the old style nappies. I've ordered a Hautes One Size nappy. I'm going to give that a go. It's an all in one, meaning it's waterproof, so you don't need a cover. It has little snaps that allow you to change the size to your need. It was $25!!! But, it can be used from birth till they're a toddler, so it's not like I'll have to buy other sizes. I bought it online from Eco Bambino. I accidentally under paid the postage, but the lovely woman who runs it emailed me and said that she'd let it go this time. How nice is that!!! I will definitely be buying more from her. :)
Okay, the day is getting away from me. Will be back later!
Celsie. xoxox
-
Hi everyone
Celsie - wow on your EBM record! Congratulations. My record is something like 170mls in one session, although I haven't been able to express that much for the last week or so? Is it normal for your milk supply to fluctuate? Re cloth nappies - I tried them a few weeks ago, but I found that they leaked and didn't fit as well as the disposables (I just used the normal square ones that you fold). I may try again when Diana is a bit bigger and not weeing and pooing all the time.
Princessmya - glad to hear that Ashely is doing better. Diana is due for her immunisation next week and I am not looking forward to it :( Diana had to have her blood sugar tested for a few days when she was born and she seemed to handle the needle *****s okay, but she is a bit older now and more aware of things, so I hope it is not too unpleasant for her.
Diana will be 8 weeks old on Tuesday. At her six week weigh in, she was 3.95kg (birth weight 2.485kg), so she is most likely over 4kg now. She is becomimg more aware of her surroundings, following things with her eyes and sometimes making sounds, as if she was trying to speak, lol. It's so cute. She is still breastfeeding really well, although she tends to vomit a lot. It doesn't seem to distress her though, so I am not worried. But I may mention it when I take her to the doctor this week.
-
Celsie Congrats on your record - i know how you feel. Are you expressing all feeds? I have started to express all feeds now. Have been doing it for about 4 to 5days. Found that he was getting to frustrated on the boob, and not getting enough in. When i first started to express on a regular basis, like every 2 -3 hours, was lucky to get 40ml a side, which, considering in the first month of his life, could easily get 100ml a side was abit devestating.
I just expressed then, and got 220ml, which i was pretty happy with, mind you, it had been nearly 5hours since my last express. Do you use manual or electric pump, and what brand. I am using Avent manual, but, am tempted to go electric. I have a thread floating around somewhere about Breastpumps, and what brands are the best. But, if i go electric, i am prob better off getting the avent, cause thats what all my bottles are.
Anyway, i am trying to express every 3hours, but, if i go out, or when DH is home etc, if it goes out to say 5hours, they tend to get a bit hard & lumpy, but, 5hours would be more convienent. Especially for overnight.
I am also using cloth nappies. The old style flats. But, i do use disposables overnight, as he now sleeps for 5hours, which is bliss. I am using flannel ones now, and will go to terry when he is abit bigger. But, Starfish, i do change him about every 2hours, sometimes more often, depending on how he is feeding. In the mornings, say between 7 and 10.30 he feeds every 90min or so, but, then between 11 and about 5, he feeds less often, and then, in the evenings, back to every 90min or so, so, at those times, maybe gets his bum changed more, but, in the middle of the day, maybe 3 - 4hours. . What fold are you using? If you like, i can email you the link for the fold i am using, which seems to work pretty well.
The last few nights, he has been alittle hard to settle, but, i think its because our routine has been up the crappers. I feed him at 10last night, and normally, he goes to sleep straight away, but, it took him an hour, but, he did still sleep till 4.30this morning,
He also get formula before going to bed as well, generally helps him sleep better to :)
Naomi - i wonder if you can weigh lachlan at 8 weeks, and i will weigh Aiden, and we can compare again? I want to see how he compares once he is purely ebm feed, and i know he is getting his fill?
Starfish - Diana has done well with her weight gain! Congrats to you. With her spewing, Aiden was a bit of a happy chucker as well, not so much anymore thank goodness, i was over changing clothes and bassinate after every feed. To help him, once he had taken the edge of his hunger, you know, finished gulping, i would burp him, and burp when i changed sides. Also, i noticed that, mostly, if he was in his bouncer, he wouldnt be sick, so, have propped up his bassinate as well. Its probably about 10 - 12cm higher at the front. You might also like to try giving her some karicare thickener. I have some, but, have never used it. Sounds like you disolve abit with warm water, or breastmilk, and give to them before the feed, is meant to help.
Princessmya - am glad Ashley handled her imunisations well, We line up for it next week, and am abit nervous about it. DDid you get that virsus injection thing that starts with R? I think..?
Anyway, thats enough from me.. have a great day all :)
-
Debbie - thanks for the suggestions re preventing the constant vomiting. I have noticed that Diana vomits the most when I put her down after a feed, so will try propping her up. We are also thinking of getting her a bouncer, so this is another reason to go out and actually buy it. In order to not have to wash sheets and clothes all the time, I always put a towel or cloth nappy under Diana when I lay her down. I sometimes wrap her in a towel rather than a baby wrap too. I am finding that towels are extremely useful to always have around. :)
Re cloth nappies - I am using the only fold I know - the one where you fold the nappy into two triangles. What other kinds of folds are there?
-
Oh my god I'm so tired. Caeleb has had a shocker of a day for sleeping, or lack of...
Debbie - I do express, but mainly I just go with the boob because it's easier at 3am when I'm rolling my eyes around in my head trying to stay awake! LOL - But, I find that when I do express, I get far more from the electric pump that I do the manual one.
Starfish - I've noticed that when I'm sick (I've had a cold for about a week) my levels are much lower. So, I guess they do, but I don't know why?!? Does anyone???
ROFL - I started typing this post 2 hours ago, but got distracted on ebay!
Will be back tomorrow to write more...

Hi Girls,
I haven't posted for a long time but thought i would today as i have a spare moment before the girls want my attention!
Well al has been well here for us. Shayla is growing fast and has alot of hair thats for sure. She is smiling and grinning constantly and talking to us and her big sister! We put Shayla and her big sister in the big bath together last night and they just loved it. So cute to watch Tayneesha's facial expressions. I will post a heap of pics here is the link and the Pwd - Tayneesha22 (will do soon)
http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m254/aprilmum/?
Starfish - I am not sure if you Bf or Ff if you formula feed i would suggest the KARICARE AR Thickened infant formula all ages from birth. This is for bottle fed babies with regurgitation. Shayla has this and Boob and i have had no problems at all after doing it this way. She tends to like the formula better than the boob and is thriving. My pediatrician also said that what i was using is the best for the vomiting etc.
Celsie - Well done you go girl!
Well must be off Shayla has just woken up from a good nights sleep. and time for a feed.
Sorry if i have not replied to everyone i haven't read all the posts either so a real quicky as Miss S has awakened.

Celsie - thanks for helping me with my ticker! i have emailed you a photo:) i know what you mean about shocker days... i am honestly not sure how i am going to pack thiis house to move in 4 weeks... i struggle to have a shower and make a samwich for lunch lately with ashley.
Is that really bad, i mean i got to the shops and for walks etc cause it puts her to sleep (the walk) but when it comes to home or doing anything i am hopeless! i do it in the weekends when dh is home and can attend to ashleys screams etc... he is coming into some overtime over the next few weeks and will be working 6 day/week!! omigod!
i am writing this with ashley in my arms, since her needles - dont know if it is a coincidence she has these uncontrollable inconsolable crying fits. all i can do it carry her over my shoulder ubtil she settles (which can be an hour or so)... night time is fine once she is asleep she us good - wakes up a happy little angel but then wont sleep probably during the day, refuses feeds etc.... i makes me so upset and i am in so much pain....
on monday i pulled some muscles in my left shoulder extending across my collarbone/chest region... so i cant lift my elbow above shoulder height - as in cant put a shirt on over my head, cant lay on my shoulder and this is the only side ashley likes to be held on ... :(
gee i am a whinger arent i? sorry i just had to get that out cause it hurts so mucj, even now nursing her in my arms.
Debbie - yes Ashley got the rotavirus vaccine - it isnt an injection - it is an oral vaccine , about a ml and she took it easily. It is a bug that causes gastro vomitting and diarrohea....
naomi - i have emailed the pic to you too :)
-
Hello girls!!!
PrincessMya - hope you like your new ticker! Ashley is just gorgeous!!! :) Caeleb has his vaccinations yesterday too. He's had a REALLY bad 24 hours. He is just so needy and precious. I've had him on 6 hourly paracetamol. He only wants half the amount of food when he feeds and he's been groaning in his sleep and when he's awake. Poor little champ. In the end, DH and I decided to let him have the rotavirus vaccine, but it was a difficult decision. Can't wait till these side-effects wear off. :(
Jen - sounds like you've got your hands full with your two. Your photos are just gorgeous. Your girls are beautiful, just like their Mummy. I love the shot with the headphones and sunglasses.
Starfish - I'm using the Fluffies terry towling and flanelette fitted nappies. I've also ordered some Bum Genius and a Hautes All-In-One nappy. Have a look on some websites like, Darlings Downunder or Eco Bambino.
Time for dinner, will BBL.

Hi Girls,
Sounds like the injections aren't much fun.:( Lewis isn't due for his for a few more weeks yet but I'm not looking forward to it.
He's such a good boy and full of smiles now. His sleeping is all over the place though, most days he will either sleep in the morning or afternoon but not both.
His longest sleep is always the one about 6pm-10pm but night times he moans and groans in his sleep as he has tummy ache with his wind and he was constipated the other day so he was in pain with that.
I have just bought some Brauers stomach calm today so am going to give that a try. I find it weird how he's so quiet during his daytime sleeps but every night he makes so much noise and gets pains.
A friend of mine had a baby on July 1st and she was telling me how she does a dream feed each night. This is when she goes to bed she feeds him while he is asleep and then he sleeps longer through the night. I have read about it before but usually it's when they are older. Does anyone do this? The only thing is I wouldn't want to put Lewis down without burping him but surely he will wake up if I try and burp him?
He wakes about 12am, and 4am and then dozes from then on so I would love to try and get him to stretch a bit further. Mind you he is only 6 weeks bless him, maybe I'm being a bit impatient!!
Hey I was wondering where Tina is, she hasn't posted for a while?

Sarah - I've been told that the Womens and Childrens hospital in Adelaide makes up their own special mixture for wind/colic and it works a treat. I personally haven't had to get any as Caeleb seems to do well with just Infacol, but it may be worth a phone call if you're having a lot of trouble with wind pain. Poor little Lewis. :(
I've just fed Caeleb and he was quite hungry. So much so, that he had two boobs and was looking for more, so I gave him a 100ml top up bottle to go to bed on. Hopefully, he's nice and full and will have a nice long sleep. Usually, we don't hear from him again till about 2:30am, but he's not feeling well, so fingers crossed.
I was wondering if everything was okay with Tina too. She usually is quite regular with her posts. Maybe she, like the rest of us is just busy with her little princess. :)

thanks for the signature celsie! your a gem!!
glad calen got his appetite back!
Mumoflewis - i did df's for a couple of nights and ashleys pattern went like this:
bed 630pm, df 930pm, feed 3am, 6am
last 2 nights i didnt df and:
bed 630pm, feed 12, 2, 4. 6
so mmmm not sure as only tried out the df a couple of nights but seems to sleep longer in the first part of the night.
-
Prncessmya - It does seem to make sense then to DF. Lewis sleeps longest from 6pm aswell. Last night I nearly tried a DF at about 11pm but thought as he was due to wake up I wouldn't do it. However I should have done as he didn't wake up until 2.30am! But then he woke again at 5.00am and 7.00am and didn't go down until about 10.30am as he had had so much sleep!
I would like to try and get him to stretch out his 4am feed (as I'm sure we all would!) so I may try a DF tonight at about 11pm and see what happens.

Hi there ladies i know it has been a long time since i last popped in but man i feel as though i havnt stopped...August is a very busy month for us as it was DS 3rd birthday on the 3rd plus i won a holiday to Surfers Paradise next week so we are planning that and then its my nephews birthday and then mine so its all happening lol not to forget about the gorgeous little monsters i have making my life even more hectic!!
We have also come down with the dreaded cold and flu...Rylan gave it to Ashlyn when she was 4weeks old and they both have been so blocked up and snotty with terrible coughs and 4 weeks later its still hanging around actually it is getting worse again Rylan is on antibiotics and Ashlyn has to sleep with a vapouriser on she is so blocked up she throws up after her feeds...its terrible.
Ashlyn has been a bit up and down she doesnt have a sleeping pattern through the day just whenever im lucky lol and her feeding is pretty much the same could be 2 hours then 4 but she may only have 50mls then another time 150mls then maybe 100ml its just all over the show!! But i am very lucky because she has started sleeping through she may fall asleep anywhere between 7pm-9pm and wont wake until around 7ish!!! so i can deal with the crappy routine through the day lol
Charlyfrog i have to admit you are so not alone with the annoying habits of older siblings lol Rylan has just been ****ting me since Ashlyn came home he is so sooky and whingey and all i hear from him whenever i ask him to do something is "i cant" and fake crying..you know the real grating whingey cry that makes your skin crawl lol..plus he is loving her a bit too much whenever she is asleep he lays with his face in hers yelling Ashlyn, Ashlyn wake up wake up...grrrr plus he loves to lay on her and feel her wiggle under him he giggles and thinks its so funny...i am constantly saying get off her!! He isnt trying to hurt her but he just doesnt understand yet.
I feel like i am yelling at him all the time and constantly telling him to stop being naughty...so i know exactly how you are feeling.
Hopefully i can get back on her a bit more regularly but its all by chance so take care everyone and keep your chins up

Hi everyone! Havent posted in a while - our laptop was in being repaired and I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms :P
Things havent been going the best for us. Mikayla has been on Mylanta for her reflux which was great for the first few days but now its no longer working. The poor thing screams in pain between feeds and you can actually smell the acid when she brings up. I'm using thickner in her formula which has helped the vomiting slightly but you still have to keep her upright for at least 30mins after every feed and even then the reflux is still in full force when you put her down. I've tried propping up her bassinett but it didnt help and she's now at the point where she'll only sleep in our bed with one of our full sized pillows under her head. I'm going to make another appointment with the paed to discuss meds which he mentioned might be necessary at her 6 week check. He also said that she has some degree of lactose intolerance so shes now on lactose free formula and no more breast milk. I have to say I felt a bit guilty about not being able to breast feed her anymore but I cant say that I miss it!
Does anyone know much about Tressillian??? My OB suggested it as we're having alot of trouble getting her to sleep at night. The only long sleeps she has (occassionally 5 hours) are during the day then she's up pretty much all night. He said that the reflux has alot to do with her being unsettled but suggested that we contact and go to see the people at Tressillian or Karitane for some help before things get out of hand. You can spend a day at their clinic or sometimes even a week if necessary so that they can help you sort out feeding or sleeping problems but I dont know anyone else who's used them before.
I dont know why but she still isnt latching onto the bottle properly. She had the same problem with breast feeding but I thought she would have grown out of it by now. You put the teat in her mouth and she just shakes her head from side to side screaming because she wants it but just doesnt seem to realise its there iykwim. Its just so frustrating!!!
Sorry about the whinge but I dont really have anyone else (apart from DH) who understands my frustration and I know you ladies do!
I also apologise for not doing personals but theres so much to catch up on in here I havent had a chance to read all of your posts yet.
Your photos are all absolutely gorgeous and its great to hear that all bubs are thriving! I weighed Mikayla yesterday and she's 4.7kg (3.580 at birth). We just cant believe how quickly she's growing!
Zofia I remember you asking previously where abouts in Sydney I'm from. We live in the South West and have a business in the Inner West. How about you?? Your right there dont seem to be too many people on here from Sydney Metro. The only other person I know of in this thread is Sarah (mumoflewis).
Well its almost feeding time so I'd better get going. Will try to read through the thread and post some personals later on.
Hope your all well and enjoying your little bundles!! Take care xx

Hi Tina,
Good to see you back! Sorry to hear about Mikyla's reflux:cry: Have you tried anything from the Brauers range as its all natural. I got the stomach calm and the first time I gave it to him he slept for 9 hours!
Regarding Tresillian my SIL went for 4 days. She did find it useful, they taught her about controlled crying and dream feeding. I also know a girl who went to a 2 hour Karitane sleep school session and they taught her similar things, methods to get them to sleep. It seems the 'letting them cry for a set time and then going and patting them' is the way to go. Apparently it takes about 3 nights of hell and then they can settle themselves! I find Lewis sleeps for 4-5 hours during the day and only 2-4 in the night aswell and wondering when it will change! I have tried waking him up after 4 hours in the day but he just falls asleep again whilst feeding so it defeats the object.
Anyway I must get to bed, Lewis has just dropped to sleep. I have had Laryngitis and completely lost my voice so it's nice to be able to 'talk' to you guys instead!! I have been wearing a mask to feed Lewis, he must wonder what's going on!

Hi Mums to June bubs,
I've just joined bellybelly and thought I'd join you as I have a June bub. My gorgeous girl (Brianna) arrived on 21.6.07 at 6.15pm after a drug free induced labour. Pregnancy was a dream and I'm loving motherhood. DH and I live in the country and mothers groups aren't really happening for first time mums in our area, so thought that a bit of contact on the net might keep me sane.
I haven't read all the posts on this thread as I'm a little time poor (as I'm sure you all are) but would love to chat to you all about how things are going.
Trying to introduce a bottle with expressed milk to DD at the moment. We have been trying every day for 6 days. She only seems to play with the nipple with her tongue and occassionally chew on it - no sucking. Has anyone else tried introducing a bottle and had the same issues?
Nell

Hi nellnell!
Welcome to the june group!
I am in the same situation as you - in a rural area we also dont have readily available mothers groups or organisations that form them for you. It is a matter of walking up to a mother with a baby and asking them to have a drink or go for a walk etc... which can be quite daunting.
Where are you from?
We tried to give dd ebm in a bottle this morning (in case i am out and she needs a feed with DH or something like that). And so luck. SHe has a little suck and them screams and scream until i give her boob. THen she is happy. We have tried a size 2 avent and a nuk teat (both silicone) with no luck... It is funny we tried some boob then tried to do the swifty with the bottle but she knew the difference. But then as soon as you put her dummy (which is a silicone nuk dummy) she sucks away happy!
So i am not sure... some girls suggested to try latex if silicone is not working (they are the brown ugle teats.) so we might give that a go... not sure.
ANhow hope you find us all supportive and look forward to hearing about little brianna growing up!

Hi Nell and welcome to our group.
We all understand totally about being time poor :D It must be hard being in the country and not having any other mums to chat to but you've definitely come to the right place. You will surely make some wonderful friends and get some great advice on BB.
My daughter was both breast fed & bottle fed from about 2 days old as she was in the special care nursery for jaundice and they didnt want her getting dehydrated under the phototherapy lights. She's now completely bottle fed and although she sometimes has problems latching on she usually feeds well once she realises she has the teat in her mouth :P
I'd say you should start with a medium flow teat as a slow one might frustrate your baby and she'll give up easily. It will take some time but you really need to perservere and keep giving it to her until she eventually starts to suck.
Good luck with it all and I look forward to sharing your little girl's journey xx

Hi nellnell, have you tried different types of teats.... i use the nipple looking ones Lee took them with no hestiation at all - but he is a pigglet....:) some babies dont like the feeling of the hardish rubber....she may think its a dummy (if you are using one)
-
Hi guys, Thanks for the welcome!
I'm located in the Monaro area of NSW, heaps of babies and mums around but not many new mums or ones that seem to be willing to get out in the middle of winter (very cold).
Thanks for the tips with the bottle. DH and I get distressed hearing her cry when we offer the bottle (using Avent) and a 3 month plus teat as I thought the faster flow may help - no luck. I think I might contact the ABA for some advice on how to introduce the bottle without distressing DD and us! Reluctant to try other bottles/teats as I don't want to have to spend a fortune and find that it doesn't work.
Like you PrincessMya - I have tried swapping the boob for bottle but DD can't be fooled. Don't use a dummy so she doesn't know the feel of anything else but nipple.
I think I may leave it for a couple of days then try again some other time - just scared that I may leave it too late and she will never take a bottle. I'd really like her to be able to take one so I can have more than an hour of 'me' time every now and then without DH having to call me home! If it works it works, and if not I can't do anything about it.

Hi NellNell, welcome to June Baby Buddies. :)
Tell us about your little princess! How much did she weigh when she was born? How long? How much does she weigh now? We love seeing photos of each others little ones too, so if you wanted to post some, we'd be more than happy to goo and gah over her. :D
Looking forward to getting to know you and little Brianna.
