The more the merrier Babybella!! Welcome!! I totally agree that time has just flown!! It's crazy!! I can hardly believe that my first baby is almost 3 as well!!
....and it's only 3 months til Christmas!! (*charlyfrog ducks her head to avoid flying objects at this point!!*) :cryinglaugh:
...and your girls are gorgeous! You have one very adorably cute and happy little baby girl there!
-
Hi everyone
WelcomeBabyBella. I second Charly in saying that your girls are very cute.
Diana was very grumpy yestersday and is still that way this morning. I too am wondering if she might be teething already (she's 14 weeks, so it would b early, but not unheard of?) She is dribbling a lot and chewing and sucking a lot but doesn't seem to be hungry. She has two teeth visible under her gums at the bottom front. I haven't given her anything for it.
She also hasn't done a poo for a few days, so maybe that's why she's so grumpy... Should I be worried? I was thinking that if she doesn't imporve by tomorrow I might take her to to doctor.
-
Hi ladies. Hope everyones doing well.
Welcome Babybella! Your daughters are gorgeous. How lucky you are to have a DD old enough to help out with DD#2. Look forward to hearing all about Mackenzie!
Zofia I was told by our paed that a week without poo is nothing to worry about! Maybe give Diana a bit of water between feeds to try and bring one on.
Sarah - Teething already?? Lucky you! You'll probably be severly sleep deprived in the next few weeks though. They're growing up way too fast :D
Speaking of sleep deprivation... I am a walking zombie at the moment. Mikayla has gone from sleeping about 7 hours of a night time to now waking every 30mins or so because she's dropped her dummy!! It normally starts at about 1am and she screams just about all night. I've tried letting her cry to see if she'll drift off without it but no luck. She'll scream the house down until you go in and put her dummy back in her mouth. I'm at my wits end and struggling to make it through the day without any sleep and poor DH has to get up in the morning and go to work after a night of very broken sleep. Any suggestions on how I can get her out of this gastly pattern??? PLEASE!!
Debbie congrats on Aiden rolling onto his side!! It wont be long before you'll have a crawling bub on your hands.
You can tell that Mikayla really tries hard to roll but still isnt quite there yet. She is starting to grab onto things though. She loves the little monkey on her play gym and is holding onto its legs but I dont think she realises how to actually let it go once she has a hold of something. Same with a little wooden rattle my mum got her. She loves holding and shaking it but once she's had enough she gets frustrated because she doesnt know how to get rid of it :D
How do all your babies like tummy time??? Mikayla absolutely hates it. I can only have her on her tummy for a minute or so because she just starts to cry. Is that because she's still too young to hold herself up? or should she be holding herself up??
Sorry my post is so long. Gotta vent somewhere and where better than right her to my dear friends :P
Take care all & lots of hugs and kisses to all the bubs from Mikayla xx
-
Vent away lovely!!! That's what we here for!!
Re: tummy time - my DD is the same, can only stand it for so long and I think it could be because she can't hold her head for a long time so isn't a huge fan of sucking the blanket or towel she happens to be lying on at the time!
Re: dummy - sending you big hugs and hoping you get that precious sleep soon. I do have thoughts but that's all they are :p Does Mikayla have the dummy during the day?? Is it the same thing as in, she won't sleep without it? If so, maybe you could start retraining her to sleep without it during the day first or if it's just a night thing, it could possibly take a few painful sleepless nights with no dummy but simply reassuring her every 10mins or so with a quick cuddle and/or pat but not reintroducing the dummy at any point............might take a few nights to a week but if you are able to accept the disruption it will pay off dividends in the end. Was she sleeping the 7hours or so with the dummy?? Could she just be getting more alert and aware of her surroundings and comforts as in her dummy?? I guess a few nights of complete horror compared to the ongoing sleep disruption might be worth it. It will be tricky too and as you've probably discovered, exhausting and frustrating, but seriously, if you can keep with it, it will be worth it! I shared with Debbie re: being consistent and persistant and that's pretty much the trick - just decide what you as the mummy want your little one to do and then go with that! :)
Again, these are only my thoughts and may not sit right with you but I hope it helps somehow
Starfish - ooh! lots of teething symptoms hey?? Certainly not unheard of! I hope Diana feels better, not so grumpy, soon! xx
Having a lazy day today................as lazy as you can possibly have with an almost 3yr old and 15wk old :cryinglaugh: ............lazy means I haven't got a load of washing to do today as I did some yesterday and am planning more tomorrow........... Just got to put the towels away and do the dishes (which is highly frustrating as our new dishwasher seems to be sitting there laughing at me as it isn't installed yet!!) and change nappies and get meals and bf...............................did I say I was having a lazy day?!?!?!? :cryinglaugh:
-
Thanks Charly. I thinks thats our prob with tummy time as well. She can only hold her head up for 10 secs or so & i think she's finding that frustrating.
Our prob with the dummy is only at night. She has short sleeps during the day with occasional "dummy disruptions". She was previously sleeping through with the dummy but I think the problem is that she's sleeping more lightly now. It never mattered previously is she spat it out because she slept through it but now it seems to wake her. I have a suspicion that her reflux might be getting worse and thats whats waking her and that the dummy is the secondary factor.
I might try to wean her off it as you suggested. DH has got that nasty gastro bug at the moment so I'll have to wait till he's better before I try it though that way we can share the sleeplessness :D
Thanks again - your a gem!!
-
Oh poor lovely if reflux is causing issues again! That's horrid!!
I must admit too that in the early days, the dummy was a complete gold nugget in our world as our first 6weeks were stupid with sicknesses all around, hospital stays (for DH and then almost me!!) - so it was great to have the dummy when you just didn't have the brain power or energy to ride out the bubby protests! Good idea waiting for DH to get better - you're such a lovely wife! :p
My DD is the same as my first DD - when I really want her to take the dummy if she is over tired or just unsettled if we are out and about, she's just not interested! DD#2 would rather suck her fingers which is ok I suppose but it'd help if she didn't try to put them down her throat sometimes!!
Hope your DH gets better soon and you and Diana stay healthy!
Mwa!!

just quickly, tina, my chn told me that reflux babies may not like tummy time, due to the pressure on their bellys when they are laying on them. At times, Aiden hates it, but, if we lay him on our legs, with his belly resting 'in the gap' he does like it abit better.
-
Hi Girls,
Welcome Jen. I bet your older daughter just loves having a little sister, great photos! I see you have the rainforest play gym. I want to get that jumparoo thing in that range for Lewis for Christmas. It looks great!
Tina - Lewis doesn't like tummy time if he's on the floor, he doesn't lift his head up much at all, so I put him on a pillow and he loves it and holds his head up high. I think just because it's softer on his tummy.
Regarding the dummy, that's a tough one isn't it. Like Charly said you will probably have to persist with whatever you decide. Lewis isn't too attached to his really. I do use it for his day sleeps but after it's fallen out of his mouth so many times I leave it out and he still drifts off (I got that tip from Charly too!)
Still not sure about Lewis's teeth. I have read that they can be visible for months so I don't know if they are ready to pop out or not, it's hard to get a good look. However, aren't their gums just so cute!!! I love looking at them they are tiny!
He slept from 7pm - 4.20am last night so that was better anyway.
Anyway must go and feed the little tike, he is watching his Einstein DVD at the moment, hopefully he will have done a poo like normal!!

Thanks so much everyone for the warm welcome! I think all mothers think their own baby is cute, I remember thinking at the hospital when DD#1 was born that she was the cutest in the entire nursery ... but I'm sure all the other mothers were thinking the same thing eheheh. With DD#2 .. I never saw any other babies because I wasnt in long enough.
Charlyfrog: Christmas is comming so fast isn't it! Have you got any ideas on what your going to buy you little one? I'm wondering if Kenzie will be sitting up by then ... I'm not sure on what to get.. but it sure is fun looking.
Starfish: I just checked out Diana's website and she is just beautiful ... so small! Diana at 6 weeks was how big Mackenzie was when born! What size is Diana now? Kenzie is wearing 00 ... she is a really long bubba. I worked in a child care baby room for a year leading up to giving birth and one of the babies there was exclusivly breastfed and pooed only once/week .. sometimes fortnight.. but when she did poo .. look out! Unlike my DD she poos atleast 3 times a day! Lucky me! Mackenize went through the grumps and dribbles as well about 3 months old.... it took about 2-3weeks to subside now she is pretty much a happy little girl (as long as she is with me) .. however if you are worried take her for your piece of mind. Has she got a temp?
Teepee2: My DD#1 is now 11 years old and is just wonderful! She just adores her little sister .. she has wanted one for sooo long.. it took us a long time to concieve and we also had a mc. Mikayla's birth photos are lovely! She is very cute! I love the photos of the birth .. I wish I had taken more.. at the time all I was concerned about was getting home, I hated being in hospital. I would love to have a home birth but am too nervous about things going wrong. The professional pics just adorable who did them?
Sleep: I co sleep with Mackenzie from about 3am .. otherwise she just wont go back to sleep, however lately she wont go to sleep in her basinette to start with . I let her fall asleep in my arms and them when I put her in the cot she wakes up! Cheeky girl! I also try to sleep when she sleep during the day if we have had a bad night.
Tummy Time: Mackenzie hated tummy time from the beginning .. and once she learnt to roll over 6th Sept (about 3 months old) she was ok with it. I started by just giving her 30 seconds at a time and then gradually increased it. I also used to get on the floor with her and make eye contact and talk to her .. she loved that. I also used to put her on my tummy for tummy time with a pillow behind my head - my widwife said that counts as tummy time too! Last night we read a book while on our tummies and that was fun. I wouldn't worry, she is still really tiny and all babies develop at different rates - in her photos on the website she looks like a happy and healthy loved little girl.
Sarah: Thanks for the warm welcome! I search high and low for that playgym and everywhere I went they were sold out.. I am glad I waited. The jumperoo thing looks grea aswell but I'm tossing up between an exersaucer with the activitys around it .. not sure what to buy fir Christmas yet. When I clicked to look at your little ones photo it prompted me for a username and password?
You girls are lucky your little ones take dummies .. I have tried and tried and TRIED with Mackenzie and she either gaggs or spits it out so I have to feed her to sleep every time .. its exhausting .. so any tips to help her take one would be great.
Nice to meet you all! Long post!
:heartbeat:

Yes those exersaucers look good too don't they. I have to pay a visit to toys r us I think and check them all out:) I would like a jolly jumper too so have to work out which is best.

Babybella - it is so good to have you around, a mum who truly has been there done that having an older child, might be picking your brains from time to time as my first DD is almost 3........oh it can be fun ;) But she is such a good big sister all the same....wanting to feed baby DD "cake & vegetables" that she made in her Elmo kitchen with her tea set!! I love the idea of tummy time on mummy's tummy, might try that!
Am actually considering a flip out couch for DD#2 for Christmas as DD#1 already has one and bubby loves to lay in it and look at all the bright patterns. It's also been great for propping her up in the corner so she can see the world around her. She already has a play mat with dangley toys etc and all of DD#1 baby toys as well......I think DD#1 would appreciate her couch back ;) Plus it'll be something that will last a long time. Then there's all those other adorable toys that I am finding hard to control myself from buying in lieu of Christmas!!!! For both DD#1 & #2!!!! :p Decisions, decisions!!
Hope everyone is going well with our fast growing gems!! :heartbeat:
Oh my goodness! Better go as my 3yr old has just fallen asleep on my lap!! Awwwwwwwwwwwww!!

Welcome Babybella! And hi to everyone else too, I don't get on here that often any more (I wonder why.......!!)
Great to hear what everyone is up to and what all our babies are doing - it's reassuring to hear people experiencing the same things. Angus hated tummy time until last weekend, when he was ok with it for about 5 whole minutes (much better than crying right from the start). He's a reflux baby too, so I guess that might be right re the tummy pressure.
Angus has had his first nap in the cot, he was a bit bemused and took a while to nod off, but that was a good start. I reckon we'll try a few more over the next couple of weeks as he's growing out of the bassinet rapidly. He's a long lean baby, into 00 in length in some brands, but not filling out the clothes fully. Guess he's taking after the genes on both sides.......
We had our first trip to Melbourne yesterday and today - normally a 4 hr drive from home, so I was a bit worried. But he went really well, one break for a feed in the middle, and just got a bit whingy when we were arriving in Melb. So he went to the accountant, a cafe, to a cricket gear shop with his dad, for a walk around town with dad, and to a restaurant - all without crying! He's such an interactive baby - loves to be held and see what is going on around him. He tends to stay awake when such interesting things are happening, then crash from overtiredness around 6 or 7pm - which works quite well.
He's taken to having great conversations now too, stopping in the middle of a feed to have a chat and a smile. And he had been sleeping through from aobut 11 to 6 most nights, but sat/sun/mon woke at 4 again. I think it might have been because of saturday's overstimulation - watching the AFL grand final with friends up at one of the resorts at the snow. Lots of people wanting to pick him up and jiggle him around etc etc - one held him over her arm on his tummy when he was crying trying to wind him, and before I could say "don't do that please he has reflux" he vomited out his mouth and nose, poor little boy. Much crying with red face ensued, and he was quite unsettled sun and mon. Poor little love. His nose is still a bit irritated (babysnot galore) but he seems more relaxed and happy now.
My English cousin is in Aus with her 9 mth old baby, and I heard she's got a great portable bed/tent for him made by Nomad. I've googled it, and there's an aussie one similar called a Kinderkot. Has anyone actually seen or used these in real life? Looks fantastic to me esp for the space saving bit when travelling, better than a huge portacot.
Great to hear from you all too, and lovely to see your pics.
Take care!

Little Angus sounds like a really social bubby! That's so cute! And yay for having such a great day and travel time with him! Poor love though to have had reflux when he did.
I am really pushing DH to take some time out within the next 4-6wks and travel to Melbourne to see family who haven't yet met DD#2, plus DH & my girls haven't met their 16 month old niece/cousin as yet either!! We will probably travel half way and stay overnight somewhere as we will have to stop for DD#1 along the way to run off that pent up almost 3yr old energy :p let alone feed times so I can't see us doing the trip in one day like we used to! We'll just make it into an extended holiday I think - I really am desperate to go and get away from things with my family!! So fingers crossed it happens!!!!
Well DD#2 is trying oh so hard to roll over now - if it wasn't for having her head so far back I think she'd almost do it! It's so precious to watch particularly when big sister is there yelling encouragement as well! Copying everything mummy is saying just another 10 decibels louder - stops any roll over attempt in its track!! :cryinglaugh: Oh too cute!
Just have one little vent I need to get off my chest.......................I am going through a phase right now of being thoroughly sick of doing washing!! Yes, part of the parcel of having a baby, just feel like my brain is full of simply trying to keep the house clean and keeping the girls clothes rotating, kinda want to feel like my brain has more use iykwim......so just having a whinge.....over myself now, thanks! ;)
-
Charly - I soooo hear you on the washing. I absolutely hate the sight of washing hanging on the line, but unfortunately, with a young baby, its unavoidable (I hate the idea of using a dryer even more). It seems that whenever I take one lot down I have to hang another lot up. Grrr.
Feathertop - glad to hear that Angus had a good trip and enjoyed himself. Hope his reflux has settled down.
Babybella - good on you for cosleeping and letting Mackenzie fall asleep in your arms. So many people seem to have a problem with those things and I have no idea why, as it just seems so natural! I let Diana fall asleep in my arms or at the breast and we cosleep too. It's so nice sleeping with her. :)
Diana rolled over today from her back to her tummy. Twice. Its the first time she's really done it (she previously did it off a cushion, so assisted by gravity). She is now well and truly into 000 clothes and I am slowly putting the 0000s away.
After her weekend sookiness, she now seems more settled, (after a few poos and a change into some cooler clothes - it has gotten so hot here the last few days) so hopefully is not about to teethe yet! We went shopping today and I bought her a play gym mat thing. I have put it together, but Diana has been asleep all evening, so hasn't had a chance to try it out yet. Hopefully she will like it when she plays on it tomorrow.
Hi to everyone else. Hope you and your bubs are doing well.
Good night. :D

Hi Girls,
Starfish - Yes the heat has been terrible hasn't it. I have bought Lewis a 0.5 tog grobag as his room is really hot at night. He has handled it quite well although he has had longer day sleeps.
Talking of sleep, Lewis is still waking up wide awake at his 4am feed (this morning it was 3.30am). He's just ready to play poor thing. I'm not sure what to do because it feels cruel trying to stretch him out further at bedtime as he is always ready for bed at 7pm. I have tried stretching his dreamfeed but it doesn't seem to make much difference. I got him back to sleep at 5am this morning but he woke up again 40 mins later. Any ideas? He will then have about 3 x 40 min sleeps throughout the day.
He has strarted grabbing his toys now which is cute. He doesn't hold onto them for very long but I love watching his little hand come up and wobble it's way towards his toys!
-
hey everyone
Starfish - so I don't have to reply in the other thread - entertainment quarter/fox studios is fine for me (as long as its out of rush hour traffic) I'm not sure where to park but I'm sure I'll find out
sounds like everyone's bubs are growing so fast - jackson was weighed by the paed today and topped 6kg (but he did have a singlet and nappy on) but both DH and I had big smiles on our faces that our little boy is growing
re tummy time - Jackson can only handle it for 5 mins or so - and he has rolled over from tummy to back once and hasn't done it since - he does a great side to side roll when he's on his back as well - so cute watching him try to get there and then getting frustrated that he can't
totally agree with you on the washing front Charly:hugs: I give myself one day off from washing every week otherwise I go bananas with it - in fact theres a huge pile waiting to be folded right next to me that I'm putting off doing - and then DH comes in and asks me when I'm going to do it GRRRRR
Jackson is now having approx 10 hours at night YAY s:clap: but has woken up at 4am a few times just wanting a cuddle but he'll only sleep for around 20-30 minutes during the day and he only has 2-3 sleeps at the most- the ECN said not to worry about it too much but its frustrating when you want to get housework done and dinner cooked
Jen - I usually have to feed Jackson to sleep as well - I've tried just about everything else - rocking, putting him in the stroller etc but the only thing he wants is the boob! so any other suggestions would be awesome
right better go and change the nappy
big hugs from a far too hot western Sydney

Just wanted to rush in and say to you Celsie that I hope you got something you loved for your DS's christening and that you have a fantastic day!

Hi Girls,
Guess everyone's busy with their bub's. It's gone awfully quiet round here!
Not much news our end. Lewis has been having longer sleeps through the day, about 2.5 hours. Not every sleep though, just the ones where I'm waiting for him to wake up so we can go out!! And he's still waking up at 4am wanting to play :wall:
Those teeth haven't come through yet but he is constantly drooling and has his fingers in his mouth. S'pose it could be a while yet. His gums aren't red, it's only the fact that I can see the teeth that I know they are on the way.
He went to his first birthday party on Saturday and christening on Sunday. As you can imagine he was passed around like pass the parcel. He never whinged though, he's a good boy. My MIL hovers around him the whole time like only she can hold him, I am having to bite my tongue rather a lot lately!!
Anyway DH is bathing Lewis and I'm about to give him his bottle so must be off. Hope everyone's well and the bub's are thriving.
