Hello all. Had a quick looky over your posts while feeding Aiden. He sleeping on my chest now, so, will quickly post.
Nipples - sting like a bastard. not as bad now the milk supply has settled down. But i use the cream lanoish twice a day, and it seems to help. the midwife told me it shouldnt sting, (or more like a pinchy feeling) and if it does, he's not attached far enough on - its breast feeding, not nipple feeding i am told and to pop my finger in his mouth to break the latch, and try again to get him on better, as if i dont, will get him into bad habits. My right nipple was bleeding abit, but, i think its better.
I am also finding it much easier to b/f laying down on my side, i dont have to worry so much about support him, and keep more consentrate on massageing my boobs so i dont get the lumps. The first night at home, my boobs where like mammouth watermelons. rock hard, and you could see lumps everywhere across the top. Had a bad night that night. expressed milk as well just to try and get them to settle down abit. And express abit before each feed just to help the milk supply, as he would be sucking and sucking, and getting upset and frustrated cause not much was coming out. This way, as soon as he latched on, milk was there and ready to flow.
Routine. ... night one... lets not talk about it. sleep??? its over rated anyway. But, he had a complete new environment to get used to, had to get used to wearing clothes (only nappy and singlet in hossi) so, lots of different stuff. Even cloth nappies to get used to, and dopey mum trying to figure out how to do it all.
Sunday night was much better, he was going back to sleep more quicker after feeds.
Last night - well, if yesterday afternoons performance and last night continue, i will be one happy mummy. He was awake from his 1pm feed until his 7pm feed, with a 3pm and a 4pm feed in the middle. I tell you, you could nearly set a watch by this kid. 7pm., but him to bed, had dinner, and went to bed myself, said to Darren, he should be awake at 10ish. 10pm, he woke up, feed, burp, nappy change, straight back to sleep, he woke again at 2.40am, same deal, and then slept thru to 7.20this morning. i chucked his dummy in his mouth to keep him quiet while i went to the toilet, came back, he was dozing peacefully, so, went and had milo, and layed down for abit longer, and woke him properly just after 8 for a feed. I figure, due again about noon, and hopefully, will stay awake for a couple of hours again.
Day time, for his solid sleeps in the morning, in his bassinete in his room. But, music on in the house, curtains open, door open, so, its just normal daylight in there. We dont make any effort to stay quiet. When he is awake, we sorta cart him around with us, pop him in his bouncer, use dummy, feed abit more often, generally chat away to him, cuddles, keep him awake.
NIght time, dark, in his bassinate, in his room.
I didnt really want to go a dummy, he is a huge finger sucker, but, keeping his hands exposed, meant he was also scratching his cute lil face to much, and covering his hands, he was fretting. So, dummy. I cried abit about that. felt like a failure already. Darren reckons i was being silly, if it helps keep him settled, then who cares. My mum says it also helps with wind, cause they doing that sucking motion. When he is having his good sleeps, he doesnt need it, doesnt even want it. Its just when he's having his awake time its handy.
