I co-sleep as well, i find it so much easier to feed Cookie & get some sleep.

We had our community nurse visit yesterday.....Josh put on 270grams in the last week (3870g now, was 3855g at birth) and all his muscle/reflex tests were good too :) The nurse did seem to poopoo the amount of formula I offer him, her theory was at his weight anything more than 85mls and he is gutsing whereas I offer him the full 120ml and usually he only takes 100ml at most. Josh got his own back tho.....he peed on her lol the joy of boys!!
Im abit confused about the whole GP vs community nurse thing tho (doesnt take much to confuse me atm) So the nurse said I have to see the GP at 6 weeks to get checked over, and at 6 weeks Josh needs to see the GP or nurse for check up and shots, but if he goes to the nurse they cant check his heart the GP has to do that. So wouldnt it make sense to book us both in to GP at once and not worry about the nurse??
Hi all, its hard to believe Bunny is 6 days old today!! in some ways it seems like only yesterday she was born, others seems like she has been here forever!
my milk has definitely come in now...and I think its a bit much and fast for my lil piggy (she certainly is a good sucker!), cause she keeps spitting lots back up then wanting more until she gets towards the end of the breast!! still getting wet nappies though so obviously is getting enough in her tummy~!
we had a great night tonight, I slept from 8:30 till 10:30, up till 12, then up from 12:30 till 1, then she didnt stir till 6!! I cant believe she slept for more than 2 hours during the night!! woohoo!! DH and I both certainly feel much better for it!
am still quite tender downstairs from the grazes...I do not know how those of u with cuts and tears manage! DH said I have one graze thats about a cm square where the skin has come off..ouch!
thats great MrsC, are you guys co-sleeping or is bunny in her room in a cot?
we had a bit of a restless night last night, she was very fussy at the breast for a few hours in a row, it was a combination of gas that wouldnt come out and my boobs being drained i think. reminded me of when hannah was small, i think it can happen because a growth spurt is on the way and the more they suck the more milk comes in. doesnt make it any easier while it is happening though.
to tell you the truth i am sooooooooo sore downstairs still. it is really achey and throbby and when it isnt like that it is stingy! i hate it, cant sit, walk, stand lay down, go to the toilet without it hurting. how long does it hurt for?
DD1 has a temperature and i am freaking out that chelsea will get sick from her! god, i hope not!
oh Hollo, the pain sounds absolutely horrible, I really feel for you, makes me feel bad for complaining about the pain I've had cause urs sounds sooo much worse! mum was telling me when she had me and she tore she left the hospital after a week and still couldnt walk properly, hopefully the healing really happens soon for u! have you got ice packs and ural on the go?? also, something my doula told me to do...use a hair dryer to help dry down there after u go to the toilet! it actually helps!
Hope that DD1s fever goes down really soon and that Chelsea and yourself dont get sick too!!
Susanna fed well at lunch time and no upchuck during it either..I expressed a little bit manually before I offered her the breast so that probably helped a bit!! I had some lovely one on one time with her this morning whislt she was awake too, got to dance around the house with her singing some of the old classic 60 songs to her hehe! was a real boost to my spirit thats for sure :)
Sorry Ladies I have been a little AWOL since intro myself Miss C has had some bad nights with wind I have just found some great online demo's of some exercises that have made her body more realxed if anyone is interested google Dr Gregory La **** or Treat Collic. She is much more realxed in the body and calm after doing the exercises today hope this can help someone else.
Me I am still a little tired and let myself get into pain by forgetting to take the pain killers after the CS but hey will set reminders in the phone beacuse when I am in pain I get teary. Looking forward to setting my own rountine with Miss C once Mum goes home so I feel more in control of the suituation. She has been great taking the night shift but I must say I was sooo unsetteled hearing her cry last night that I just wanted to give it a try.
Expressing is going well getting 60mls for feeds for her 8 times a day and freezing 200mls think we may up the feeds to 70mls tommorrow to get her on track for the 700-800mls by 4 weeks.

Tiggerlinda - Those colic exercises sound interesting. My DD has become a bit unsettled in the last few days. She sleeps a lot but fusses for a reasonable period each day now. Can I ask why you are expressing lots of milk at the mo? Did I miss something in a previous post?
I got a bit teary when I forgot to take pain relief in the first week or 2 post cs. You think you are OK then all of a sudden you are in pain and it is hard to cope.
Good to hear a bunch of us are co sleeping at times. Its interesting Hollo and Trinity as I remember I began co sleeping with DS2 due to tiredness with looking after DS1 as well. With this bub I automatically popped her in next to me so I could get more rest and it has helped. When DS2 was 4 months old I put him in the cot to sleep o'night and he quickly settled. I wonder if I will be as lucky with this one.
When I was in hospital I was reminded that it is not cosher with the SIDS advice to co sleep. All the studies that came out several years ago however identified that the risks were related to parents who were intoxicated. In other cultures it is the norm to co sleep - and it just feels right for me.
I agree Hollo (and Helen), there is so much advice from so many sources that you just have to make up your own mind in the end. And what is good for some is not for others. I used to particularly hate the old ladies in the super market who had to put their 2 bobs worth in. I think I have become pretty confident that I know what is right for me and bubs now a days so I dont let them bug me so much any more.
Go the great milky boobs!! (and the fortifying formulas - whatever is your way!).
Oh and the nurse said that you no longer are encouraged to wear a bra to bed - problem - wet bed from excessive milk supply at night!!!! Solution - sleep with a flannel nappy of towel - just dont lose it in the bed somewhere - ha ha
Bron - Thanks we are expressing beacuse Miss C did not like attaching to the boob and it was a 2 hour fight to get a feed quite happy with it and she seems to be doing ok. I will PM you the link to the excercises we got sleep from 12am - 5am without the 3am feed last night she was so comfy :)

LOL Bron, I hear you on the wet soggy sheets, I sleep with a towel under me now, & I'm so glad I did last night, when I tool Noah's nappy off this morning he peed everywhere, will teach me for being lazy & not moving him to the change table.he he he he he
I was worried Noah would become a real sook at night & not sleep in his bed, but he does till about 4.30am so I guess he's happy with things.
Josh had a great weight gain Helen, that's awesome.

Tiggerlinda - thank you for the link to colic site. It is already working! DD slept really well after just 2 excercises and got rid of loads of wind!
Well done for keeping up the expressing and feeding. It is very frustrating when bubs wont attach in the early days. She should get the hang of it soon.

Storm- ROFL ( I have never used that b4) when you mentioned the wee! I have regular debates in my head about whether I can be bothered getting up to change bubs. Good to hear Noah is in his bed for a good portion of the night. I think we spoil Tirion coz I dont have a toddler to get up for and we love to cuddle her.
Mrs C -Yes sometimes it seems like the baby could drown in milk in those early days. I often put her upright to feed. She still gulps and chokes though. When expressing off a bit it is best to hand express to avoid over stimulating supply - you probably know that already though ;)

These last few days have been so busy for me. I took a trip down the coast for a family get together and on the way home at about 7pm, in the pouring rain, I ran out of fuel in the middle of the highway! Bubs had a dirty nappy and was starting to stir for a feed so I had to change her on my lap and feed her whilst I waited for help to arrive. Luckily my parents were in the car right behind me and stopped at the next turn off to get some fuel and deliver it back to me (still took about half an hour). I will be filling my car up as soon as it hits halfway from now on!! It was my partner's 25th Birthday yesterday so that was pretty busy, too! Today I am going to head out to look for a few things I didn't get organised before DD's arrival (she was a couple of weeks early). Other then that things have been going pretty well -- sleeping, feeding and sending it all out the other end! She is also becoming more alert so we are going to try and find a nice rocker/bouncer with some dangling things for her to play around in. Tomorrow is a weigh and measure after 2 weeks without so it will be interesting to see where she is at.

Jitterbug Good luck with your weigh and measure tomorrow. I havent bought a rocker yet, but we have borrowed one from a friend. Its the fisher price newborn to toddler one and Josh seems to love it! It has a vibrate setting on it, which must just hit the spot for wind....he sits there burping like crazy lol

AFM - we are doing ok. Went to a friends birthday last night, Josh slept soooo well even with other kids running around playing the whole time! Maybe I should noisy up the house at night to help him sleep better LOL. DH is out playing golf this arvo (sneaking in one last game before winter really comes in) he is back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off, and Im sitting here thinking WOW so this is my new life now day in day out!! To be honest Im a little aprehensive about it all, hopefully thats normal tho and I will be fine once I adjust to everything, pretty sad tho that I miss him being here already!!

Hope everyone is having a great easter :) I am surpised my blood loss had increased but gather it is ok. Off to GP for a check up on Wed as I am anemic and we need to mointor mine and Miss C's iron levels. Plus should get all the paperwork organised and book in the the Health Centre :)
Nice to hear everyone had a nice 1st easter with their newborns.
Ours was good. Cookie got some jumpsuits & soft toys, while Maddi got to go on a egg hunt which she loved & she also got some Pj's, Dora dvd's & a doll.
The excitement of a baby is starting to wear off for Maddi & jealously is taking over. Yesterday she kicked Cookie in the head & the back on purpose, so we gave her a time out in cot.
She was fine after the time out till today when she went to kick her again argh. I swear I'll be grey before my 24th b'day!
Helen congrats on the great weight gain. With the health nurses i use to tell them what they wanted to hear & then just do my own thing at home. Some of them will make you feel so bad if your not doing everything by the book. I wouldn't even dare tell them I'm co-sleeping last time i got the biggest lecture.
Hollo & Aussie i only grazed both times but i remember how sore i was last time, i hope you both heal quickly.

Bron- I only co-slept with DD1 because of lack of sleep but found i really loved it, especially waking up to big smiles or cuddles. So i didn't think twice about co-sleeping again.
Jo- Hope you got WW3 under control & i to often can't be bothed getting up to change Cookie so i do it in bed lol.
Jitter- Good thing your parents were behind you & gl with the weigh & measure tomorrow.

trinity yep, chelsea is in 000! they are slightly big but the 0000's are quite tight! she was 4kg last thursday so is probably bigger now!
hannah is really playing up still too! she is just so whingey! she is crying at everything. she wont do what she is told and if we tell her to stop doing something she looks at us smiles and keeps doing it! she wont eat anything good for her and she headbutted chelsea today (luckily not too hard) ! it is really getting to me actually. i sorta feel guilty cause i dont have much time to play with hannah, or put her to bed or do the stuff we used to do together. seems like i am always saying, 'wait a minute', ' i cant i am feeding chelsea' etc. my poor big girl! and oh my goodness she seems MASSIVE now that chelsea is here! :-) i dont know what i am gonna do when DH goes back to work!
helen- i am just gonna go to the GP for check ups and shots. went to health nurse with hannah only for some check-ups and they ran a mothers group thing. i am still apart of the mothers group that formed there.
jitterbug- sounds like an eventful trip! lucky you had your fam behind you! i would have called RACQ otherwise! i hate driving on the highway, let alone with a newborn! i am a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to driving!
linda- my bleeding has been a big wierd too, coming and going. hope your iron levels are all good. love your new avi too!
AFM- i gave chelsea a bottle last night of ebm and some formula and she drank them both! i was very excited because hannah would never take a bottle at all! but then i was told that it is risky to offer a bottle so early cause she could reject the boob! i just want to make sure that she will take a bottle every so often (i want to bf for the majority of the time) but i dont want to be locked in! know what i mean? i guess i feel guilty about feeling that too!
anyway, enough of my novel! LOL sorry guys!

Trinity - Miss C is in a combo of 0000 and 000. I am thinking at this stage exclusive expressing is for me it keeps me calm and I am happy with the progress she is making

linda- yeah but i am told its no guarantee that in a few months she will still willingly take it. i hope so though. :-) how often do you have to express each day to exclusively feed her that way? how many mls do you get in one go? i only seem to get 50mls (both boobs)!!
was 6 times now 4-5 times I range between 100-200mls depending on time of day. she drinks 70mls atm and will be at 100mls by 4 weeks. that is for 8 feeds a day
Massive respect for those exclusively expressing! That is something I haven't mastered at all yet.
My partner hid eggs for me so I trudged around the house trying to find them all with Immy -- he said there were 21 (so we would know when we had got them all) but there was actually 23 :doh:

we had a lovely easter here too, sunday was our first ppl free day since Susanna was borm and it was lovely!! she's doing well, feeding well still, has been on a 3-4 hour feeding cycle for over 24 hrs now, and aso waking up sometimes in between with wind or nappy needs!! had a funny experoence yesterday..suffice to say we will always remember bath then feed, not feed than bath!!! DH has been awesome trying to help me get rest, gettiung up dueing the night to help settle her if shes not needing a feed! but hes very tired and doesnt handle sleep depravation quite as well poor darling!
The graze seems to be healing, doesnt sting quite as much! but have a bit of a nappy rash thanks to wearbing pads for over a week now! am using the moogoo which seems to help a bit!!

Hollo- Hannah & Maddi sound like twins. I too feel guilty about always telling Maddi 1 more minute. I just keep telling myself this stage wont last much longer & before we know they'll off playing together.

Oh Hollo, I feel the same about spending time with the little 2 as well, there just aren't enough hours in the day anymore & Zac has taken on some pretty pathetic whining tantrums lately, he is still lovely & Sweet with Noah though, Angel hasn't changed.
Linda, my bleeding is a bit weird as well, it stopped for 2 days, but has come back now. I just wish it would bugger off, pads really irritate my woohoo.
MO Noah still fits nicely in 4x0 even his 5x0 still fit, though the arms are a bit short now, 3x0 still swims on him. WW3 was over a dropped easter egg, LOL .Had to laugh at the poor little things though. ah I'm a meanie!!

DD is still in 0000's, mostly but has a few 000's that aren't too big. She is very long, so the 0000's always seem a bit short but the 000's are a bit wide!!
Not sure about more children. This is my first and I would love her to have a sibling but it is hard to imagine having another right now. When she is a bit bigger and things have settled down (plus when I've hard more time to forget the discomfort of pregnancy and pain of birth) I'll probably be more keen! I think anywhere from a 15month to 2.5yr age gap would be my aim - me and my brother are quite close in age and I've always loved that. I think I would definitely stop at two (or three if the next lot are twins -- they run in the family) but who knows!
DD is getting so "alive" and I'm already left wondering where my baby has gone! It is lovely to watch her develop but she seems so distracted by things around her that Mummy hugs are getting in her way!!!
Good to hear everyone had a nice Easter. Last night was my first alone as my partner has began working nights (12am-8am). It was hard but we managed to get some sleep!
Oh and I definitely understand the pad discomfort! Been changing them so frequently to try and reduce the irritation but it isn't helping much. My bleeding has been gone for a few days now but I keep expecting it to return and I am having a lot of clearish discharge so haven't quite banished the pads yet...

AFM: We have 1 frozen embryo left if that takes then we will have 2 children if not the universe has decided Miss C is our blessing and that will be it.

When i was pregnant i thought 2 would be it for us, but now I'm not so sure.

i have found that using a normal ultra thin pad reduces the discomfort. those maternity pads are such surfboards!! :-)
Yup those things sure are surf boards huh!! I swapped to thinner ones afew days ago...looking forward to not having to use any tho :) Im finally able to sit without too much discomfort and drive without pain, so thats been really good.....I hope everyone else with stitches has been able to find some relief!!
Josh is in between sizes too! He is too long for 4x0 but too skinny for 3x0....except for the wondersuits which 3x0 is a great fit! Im planning to swap to cloth nappies in the next day or two...so that might help hold his 3x0 pants up too lol poor kid!
I think I would like 2 kids at this stage......DH already seems to have a grand plan of starting trying for a baby sister for Josh when he's about 18 months old.....hmmm I think I will just take one day at a time and see how we go.

My loss has been on and off too. I was worried for a while but it has all but vanished now. Maternity pads are way too big!!! You would have to haemorrhage to need a pad that big I wreckon!
I told you guys about my 2 under 2 years ago. Well your talk about the toddler and infant is bringing back memories. As I said - hardest year of my entire life but improved after 12 months and they were best friends - slept in the same bed until late primary years - by their choice as they had separate beds of course.
Which brings me to answer the q about having more kids.
DH thinks he would like another baby but is sensible in thinking it is costly and hard on my body (and lifestyle) and means less time for those already here.
I have been enjoying my career and this baby is a gift to DH and his family but I think I would like to get back to things next year - I also find it hard to be 'good' when it comes to drinking etc. and feel a bit deprived at times. I dont like feeling guilty about it.
Dont get me wrong as I am sooooooo enjoying my beautiful princess and feel extremely lucky to have this opportunity - I guess I am not sure I want to do it again at this age. I devoted all my life up to now (since I was 20 years) to raising kids and I will be doing it for a long time to come either way. So "maybe" - "maybe not". A 2 year gap would be my minimum and that would make me 42. mmmmmm
Most of DD clothes are ooo. I only have 2 things in oooo and they look small. She is a tiny baby though. The cloth nappies and pilcher combo fill the clothes out heaps - dont you find? All her singlets are oo as I found in the past a larger size is best.
I wish Noah would fit into his cloth nappies! He has the smallest bum & they swim on him, I hate buying sposies.
Noah's singlets are 00 as well.
I'm in shock to have my pc to myself today DH dug out the ps2 & the girls haven't come out of the room! yay!!
Ella is in 000's now mostly for lenght, have taken the 4 x 0000 out of her drawer, she is growing so fast. Her singlets are 00 as well
We think we want three kids but dont know how long we will leave, i think 2 years between might be nice. Id like another daughter close in age to Ella although i cant even imagine having another one at the moment.

On the pads thing Mum put me onto the Tena pads they are really absorbant and keep you dry try them out they are thin too :)

No more babies here, this is my last foray into a Baby Buddies group. With 3 under 2.5 life is pretty darn hectic and Im not sure I could do everything I want in my life with 4 under 3.5 (because Dh would refuse to have a large age gap). Plus the idea of 4 boys is a bit scary :rofl:
But I never say never, Dh could change his mind in the future (I can hear him running screaming from the house now Ive said that ;) ).
