LOL, nope no ideas linda! i am a pushover and just give up, but it is nice to co-sleep. :-)
so do you put the cetaphyll cream straight onto a tissue then wipe?
jitterbug- i have never had anyone say anything to me while breastfeeding in public. if i am around my DH's mates i just give a 'boobie warning' so they know not to look over for a sec while i attach.
-
Hi
Jitterbug- we have a Close Carrier, brilliant havent used it out shopping yet but certainly has been a gid send around the house for when David gets grizzly and wont settle. Which has been more so this week as hubby is working away.
Can babies tell when one parent is away? David's been more grizzly than normal while hubby is away.
And I think i'm getting some type of cold my throat is sore but not sure what i can take for it. :(
-
MrsC - there's a 2.5 week growth spurt?? wonder if that's why David's been so grumbly this week.
Has anyone used Pixiphoto/Portrait place we got a voucher for free sitting and portrait print every six months which is a good idea but if you want any additional prints its $80 a shot or $300 for a package of 5 i think. Not sure, I like the idea of a series of photos to see how he's grown but its expensive.

Hi Ladies,
I have done the outside the house feeding... in a sushi restaurant - nice! I have a great little apron thing I drape over my neck and it has a structured edge so I can see Edison feeding... it is great... Like wearing a bib! I have also used the nursing mothers rooms in the shopping centres - they are great as you can just whip it out - :p
Oh Storm I am sorry to hear you have skin cancer - but so glad they found it... You must be absolutely exhausted with a bub and this on your mind, I hope you get some rest soon.
I think Edison was starting to beef up my supply, he is still feeding frequently.
He is also fighting sleep - even though I know he is so tired he just fights it! You have to rock and jiggle and walk him round the house til he nods off - usually a good hour - gosh it is exhausting.
Lets hope he catches up on sleep today so I can have a snooze.
I have a sling but he doesn't like it at the moment, keeps turning himself around in it - got a very strong bub here - maybe is little Aries traits are coming through! Stubborn!
Sorry I can't be of any help with the Nappy Rash - we haven't had it so far - and fingers crossed we don't get it... My girlfriend swears by Bepanthen though.
We Co-sleep at home, Edi is in a 'snuggle nest' in between us at night, it is great, I usually wake before he gets really upset and then we lay down to feed, he falls asleep on the boob but then of course I wake him up to burp him and he doesn't always go back to sleep quickly usually there is one time he is up for a good hour at night - my husband luckily does that shift... lots of cuddles and rocking - so I can have some more sleep - got to love that.
We also have the Arm's Reach co-sleep cot next the bed but Edi is soooo tiny in it that I prefer the 'snuggle nest' at the moment til he is bigger and in more of a routine - if that ever happens!
Still using the techniques from the DVD happiest baby on the block which are great - got to love the swaddle and side jiggle and the SHHH in the ear!
I would definitely continue taking the vitamins - my Dr is very strict about that!
I am not sure if babies know when Dad is not there, but they certainly pick up a nervous or unhappy Mum - maybe David is feeling your change cause Dad isn't there? If that makes sense?
-
Wow lots in here
Yes just use it sraight on the tissue and then wipe with another one too

Hi all
I hope everyone with nappy rash troubles has found some good cures for it...thankfully we havent had anything major yet, but Josh's butt is starting to look a little red, thinking we might do some nappy free time today. My new pre-folds arrived today too, cant wait to try them on him once they are all pre-washed :)
Storm sorry to hear your news about the skin cancer!! I hope everything goes well with the specialist....my thoughts are with you
Jitterbug good luck with your first feed out and about :) Im sure you will be fine, but let us know how it goes :)
Tiggerlinda I envy you guys being able to meet up in person!!! Have fun hey :) Sorry no advice on the co-sleeping, good luck with it tho. Josh has just been sleeping in his crib since we got home, but this weekend we are hoping to make the move to his cot!!
auzziechick Im not sure either if bubs can tell one parent is away at this early stage, but Im inclined to agree that they can pick up on our moods and anxieties, so perhaps he senses Dad's absense thru you in a way.
Mrs C I hope Susie has been more settled for you today!! With the growth spurt thing, how do you tell when they are happening??
AFM....had a pretty good night last night....today Josh has been a bit unsettled, but nothing too major :)
-
That makes more sense of bub picking up my anxieties..rather than Dad being away.
Hopefully we get a better sleep tonight.
-
auzzie.chic- apparantly its a mini growth spurt around 2 1/2 weeks then big one at 6 weerks. they just feed, feed, feed!
we had 2 hours in the cot last night, then a feed and sleep for 3 hours with us, then fussing and feeding hourly! all in all, i'm happy with that!
razrock, eddison sounds like my DD1 with the fighting sleep and rocking etc for hours. maybe you can get a rocker/glider chair that way you wont have to be standing up for so long but will still be rocking your little one.
linda- think i might get some of that cream
anyone else's bub got milk pimples yet? chels is covered in em. DD1 had em bad too!
-
Yes milk pimples stated 2 days ago :)
Hollo you can get it at the chemist
I have got the book baby love that has been a big help this week as well as Miss C being more relaxed after being in the sling for the last few days. Hope everyone has had a good night
-
We had a pretty awful night, last night but at least it was my last alone! Immy cried for almost 2hrs straight -- there was a 20minute break where I thought I had finally got her to sleep but no such luck. This ended in a huge, explosive poo which escaped the nappy and so I had to do a full change! I think that must have been what was troubling her because she had a feed after that and I was able to rock her to sleep in 10minutes. Unfortunately, she wouldn't stay settled in the bassinet so frustrated and exhausted, I let her sleep on me while I lay on the couch watching some DvDs. After an hour and a half she seemed to be deep in sleep and I contemplated moving her but was terrified of her waking again. Eventually, I decided I had to move her because I needed to sleep and my arm was dying! I succesfully got us both into our bed and although she was wiggly for a short while, she went back to sleep and I managed to get an hour and a half before she woke for a feed again. After that feed it was another hour of rocking, singing, placing her down and her waking within 5minutes of doing so -- frustrating! In the end, I let her sleep on me on the couch again. I was just too exhausted to keep walking/rocking anymore. Another hour on the couch and I felt safe enough to move her, this time she settled into her bassinet and I managed almost two hours sleep before she stirred for food again. Luckily, after that feed it was morning and DP arrived in from work saying I looked awful haha. He offered to get her back to sleep while I went to bed and I was far too out of it to even think of protesting! This time I got a good two and a half hours sleep and here I am feeding hehe. DP said she almost instantly settled so he was able to get a good amount of sleep, too -- I was so dead that I didn't even notice when he came into bed. No-one believes I have troublesome nights because she is such an angel come daylight!! Anyway, at least it is my last solo night for a month and I survived!
We are coming up to the 6 week mark so I'm preparing for a bunch of big nights in the near future! Hope everyone is doing alright and managing to get a little sleep at least. Will do personals later, right now I'm going to go pass out again haha
Take care!
-
Linda I've got no ideas either, I love co-sleeping so I've never had that problem sorry.
Auzzie I've used pixi photo's for Maddi & they turn out nice, but I've found smaller studio take much nicer pictures.
I've spent well over a $1000 on Pics just for Maddi, but i have newborn, 6mth, 10mth, 14mth & 18mth old pics of her.
Hollo Cookie has milk pimples, but they are starting to go away, wonder how long till com back again.
JB Hope tonight is a better night for you.
AFU-I went out and brought a Hug-A-Bub and I'm loving it. Cookie has been so much easier to settle in it & i can wear it around while i do stuff for Maddi it's great. So far no sore back from it either.
-
I am a mjor sling convert and almost co sleeping the thing is we have a double bed and i get worried about hubby squashing her or me
-
I can't wait for my Close Baby Carrier to arrive! We have been co-sleeping part-time. At first, I never planned to and thought it wouldn't be safe but what I have read about it has been comforting and in the end, it was the only way to get her to sleep! Now she sleeps more in her bassinet and I will let her settle and sleep there if that is how things happen, only bringing her into the big bed when I get desperate for some sleep!!
Oh and I forgot to mention this earlier but yesterday, I breastfed at the shops  I just used a wrap to hang over my shoulder/boobie/baby as others suggested and it wasn't bad at all. It was on a couch type seat they had over looking the bottom levels so it felt private-ish but was still quite out in the open so I feel it is a bit of an achievement haha.
-
Well done on the BF at the shops Jitterbug :cheer: I never planned on co sleeping either but hey froms what I read it is ok too :)
-
Linda i love my slings, If you wanted you could buy on of those co-sleep things that go in the middle of the bed, Another idea is to put a noisy toy near the baby so that if you roll too close it will wake you up.
JB-Congrats on b/fing in public, before you know you'll be b/fing every-where without a worry :)
-
My Close Baby Carrier arrived two minutes ago!! I put it on and my grizzly, hiccuping baby is now fast asleep. I can't believe how much she loves it. It is great!
-
yay hun another sling lover with me miss c was the same
-
We just went for a quick trip to the shops because we remembered they won't be open tomorrow! The sling was great, she slept the whole time and I had my handsies free!! How did I live without it?!
-
Are there any shops open tommorow?
-
JB - sorry to hear about the bad night. yeah for the carrier. i love my sling its the best she falls straight asleep in it.
storm - sorry to hear the bad news i hope things will get better for you!
kellbell - no shops should be closed at least til 1pm then they can open if they want.
i have a cold at the moment and have almost lost my voice - my boys have been naughty and making my voice worse :( ally has been really good and is still sleeping from 9pm-4:30am ish we have tried feeding her later like around 10pm to see if she will sleep longer but she is like an alarm clock and wakes up at 4:30. i hope she keeps this up :) she was abit fussy today it took me ages to get her to sleep after her afternoon feed i think she was over tired and abit windy.
i hope everyone is doing well.
take care
treena
-
just bumping us up cause we went back to second page.
dont really have much to say, except we have a serious case of that baby acne! she has it on her head as well! eek!
-
Hollo Cookie had it on head as-well, but you couldn't tell as she has a ton of hair.
Found out that the disposable nappy wipes make her break out in a rash, so only cloth & water for her from now on.
Hope everyone is well :)
-
Trinity that is why I am using the tissues and Cetaphil beacuse they say water takes away the barrier the nature provides.
-
hi all,
we got a king size bed on the weekend, it is so good to have the extra room with 2 adults and 2 kids all sleeping together! LOL.
linda, how did the cofee club go? i didnt get to go cause we were driving all over the place looking at beds.
trinity- thanks for the info about the baby acne. it seems to be multiplying! i cant wait til it clears up.
our nappy rash has pretty much cleared up now which is great. it is a bit of a hassle using the cloth wipes all the time, gotta wash em regularly. i am so lazy! :-/
dont really have much else to add, we are plodding along. some good days some not so good, i guess that is life with a baby though!
take care.
-
Hi Guys :)
Not really much to report here....our nights are going pretty well at the moment. I am a little excited tho.....Josh finally has a cloth bum  Hes only been in it about an hour, but still its a start! Hes been grizzly ever since I changed him, hopefully nothing to do with the new bulky butt! Not sure how DH will react when he changes him tonight lol he was all for us going cloth, but I think thats only if Im doing the hands on stuff  Josh is getting afew pimples too, I thought they were mainly a breastfeeding thing....so much to learn! Other than that we are cruising along pretty well
Hollo I bet the new bed is wonderful....especially with 4 in there!!
Treena I hope you are feeling better and the boys are behaving for you!!
Hi to everyone else and hope the bubs are all doing well :)
-
Hello all. I am still alive. I think we have definitely hit the 6 week growth spurt because my little one has turned into a guts!! Hoping we are almost at the other side of it because I'm exhausted and I have my best friends 21st this Friday!!
Hope everyone else is going well. Still loving my baby carrier!!
Take care xo
-
Yes we are going through the 6 week growth spurt as well, she has a bottomless tummy, im exhausted. Heres hoping we are coming out the other side as well
Ella has baby acne as well, when it is supposed to go away?
We have her six week check up this week, cant believe she is growing so fast
Ella had her batism yesterday and she managed to sleep through the whole thing, i was worried she would be screaming for the boob in the middle of church, but she was great
I get upset when people (like a bossy MIL) make me feel like a bad mother, she pushes my buttons. Sometimes i feel like yelling at her but then think she is not worth arguing with. She makes herself like she was a perfect mother. She watches me when i am breastfeeding giving me advice, grrrrrr :wall:
-
Hi ladies sorry I went MIA for a bit.......
not much to say either, baby acne here as well.
So jealous of the king size bed Hollo, I've wanted one for ages for the same reason as you lol.
Getting lots of smiles & babbles from Noah lately, woo hoo !!
-
Jo  Hope your doing ok.
Kell the milk pimples will come & go till around 6mths, Some babies will just have it worse than others.
Helen Yay for a cloth bum, What brands did you buy?
We are also starting the 6wk growth spurt, seems like she's feeding every 2hrs again. It will be interesting seeing how much she has grown at her 8wk check-up. Maddi grew 6cms between 6-8wks.
Kodi had her 6wk check-up today, she's now 4.4kg & 53.5cms with a HC of 38cm.
She is such a happy baby now, always smiling & babbling, i love how she's getting more personality now.
-
Doing ok Mo, went & seen the cancer lady & have surgery booked for June, they don't know how big they have to go till they start as there are lots of small cells all around where the tumor was.I guess it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't on my face.
Am hoping this isn't going to interfere with BF'ing.
-
Hope it all goes well for you Storm
Thats great Mo with Kodi weight and length, sounds like she is growing fast. What brand of cloth nappies are you using?
Ella and i are off to our new parents group this morning, im very nervous, hope they are nice
Did everyone have a good night last night?
-
Wow so many of you are hitting the 6 week mark already.....it still seems so surreal to me! Ive got Josh's 6week appt booked, not til the end of next week tho. Planning to get a check up for myself too, and hubby pointed out last night I might wanna think about going back on the pill.
Kellbell So glad Ella's batism went well for you...we are still deciding if Josh will have one or not. Sorry to hear your MIL was giving you a hard time tho..they can get abit that way huh. Stick to your guns and know you are doing a fabulous job!! Good luck at your parents group :)
Trinity Kodi sounds like she is doing really well with the growth :) So far I just have Josh in a combo of prefolds and flanny flats. Still searching around the net to do some "fluffy" shopping...so if anyone has any advice Im all ears :)
Storm Hope youre doing ok and the surgery in June goes well...will be thinking of you:hug:
AFM we are still having good nights and kinda rough days. I guess I shouldnt complain too much tho, least its not the other way round!! I bought one of those singing night light things on the weekend and that seems to have helped settle him at night. Im wondering if its possible he is having an early growth spurt....during the day we are back to roughly 2 hourly feeds, but then he spits so much of it back up Im hesitant to increase his bottle size!
Hope everyone else is doing well and getting some sleep too :)
-
Kell i got given a bunch of fitteds with Maz covers for Cookie & the AIO's i have are Ecobubs-Berry Plush-Itti Bitti & Swaddlebee.
Enjoy your parents group :)
Jo-Know that i'm thinking of you
Hope it doesn't effect you b/fing either.
Helen You can trying burping Josh more during his feeds, That may help with the spitting up. Sounds like he is drinking it too fast & getting lots of wind.
BBL with nappy info :)
-
We had another good night here, Noah seems to be in the pattern of going down around 11 having a quick BF around 6, then again at 8 then lets me do the house work & gets up about 11.30.
I'm using bumg's, hautes & happy heiny's, although they all still seem a bit big around the legs & I need extra boosting through the night already LOL.
Had him weighed last week & he was 4.075, gaining slowly, but surely.
Helen, Noah has to have a burp often during a feed otherwise he'll spit up after, he generally burps while feeding !! Typical male I guess. You could make Josh up a smaller increased bottle, I used to do that with Zac, if he is having a 120ml, them make up a 120 & 180 & then tip the extra from the 180 to make them even, saves wasting formula & gives them a bit extra when they not ready for the whole 180ml.
Must go finish off this housework before the little guy wakes up.
Thanks for the well wishes, it means alot. I wish I could just forget about it though!!
-
selfish post coming-- hehe
there is something going onm with Chelsea at the moment. she seems to be quite unsettled, she wants a bfeed then shen she gets on she pretty much pulls off straight away or doesnt even try to attach. if she does start to suck and i havent felt my let down straight away she complains, but then when the let down does come along she complains again! it happens more with one side than the other. and she isnt going to sleep easily either. i just dont know whats happened. anyway, just venting. hope she gets back on track soon!

Ok quick update on us:
Went to MCHN yesterday and was not happy at all she did not even know what to use on nappy rash :( had to go ask someone.....I was so dissapointed and angry at the service. She tried very hard to push me back to breast feeding after my GP and I had just decided that day that my iron levels were taking too much of a hit so we will continue with expressing and slowly intro formula over the next few weeks.
Good news Charlotte is now 3.9kg 52cm long and head is 38cm so growing well.
I have my grandmother and brother staying with us this week so guests in the house but all seems to be ok.
Got some Moogoo for the nappy rash I hope that works :) and 1st formula bottles have gone well we will be replacing the 12 feed at this stage and we will also see if she will make 4 hours between some feeds.
We have watched happiest baby on the block can see some useful things in there so will try those in the next few days too. Have got some slings as well for Charlotte and she seems to be settling better in those. The aim is now to get her to sleep more in her crib during the day and then in the night.
She is focusing on things and starting to smile which is really cute too :)
:hello: to everyone thanks for letting me get things out will catch up with personals later I promise things got busy in here over night
-
Hollo, have you had something different in your diet? I found out what I can't eat by Noah's unsettled days, although they do have the odd bad days anyway.
Grrr to the mchn Linda, they really annoy me at times too. Do what ever you feel is right for Charlotte.
oh poo crying baby!!
-
hi everyone!
sorry been MIA! been really busy adjusting to the changes, and we were at mum and dads for the weekend! this will just be a quick post to update on whats been happening here!
We took Susie to the chiropractor on thursday night and oh goodness my poor lil baby...no wonder she was so unsettled and upset and not sleeping properly - her neck AND her tailbone were out! they were fixed, and we took her back today and everything is just perfect still. She couldnt lift her arm above her shoulder and now it goes easily up to her ear, and she wriggles her bum around like shes just discovered it whenever she has a nappy change!! we're having happy content awake time! even mum noticed the difference and she'd only seen her during a 'good' period before the chiro!
we're still having lots of awake time at night, and taking a while to settle, which isnt working well now that DH is back to work (specially cause he has to leave the house at 6:30 tomorrow), but we'll just keep working with it and at least shes not crying all the time!!
I fed out of the house on sunday (in a room at church), and also fed in the car on the way home from mum and dads (stopped on the side of the road lol)! so yay! still feeding fairly well, left nipple still getting sore a bit, she just doesnt latch quite as confidently and consistently on that side so I hae to watch her more carefully!
glad to hear everyone's bubs are growing well and doing well at their checkups :) Susie had one on friday just gone and she had put on 265gms in a week, and grown 1cm :) passed with flying colors, very happy and content the MCHN
noted!
Storm, all the best for June *hugs*
better go relieve DH so he can get some work done!
-
Immy is 6 weeks today and 4.5kg which is 400g in 12 days so pretty happy with that. Just quickly checking in, still having extremely frequent feeds with my cute, clingy bubs. Hope all are going well. Time has flown!
Take care. Thinking of you all xo
