Hollo, Noah downs 200ml each feed! Hmm wonder if that's too much?
With the SIDS, it's a suffocation issue I think.

well we had a very rough day yesterday, poor susie ery upset tumnmy .. i had lasagne followed by a lil bit of ice cream for lunch sunday so confident her tummy still isn't able to cope with me having dairy. wil bring it up at GP next monday.
today been better! went to infant massage class this afternoon which was great :) weoghed her and she's 10lb7oz (4.75kg)...which is 250g a week over last 2 weeks!!
We've been going to baby massage too and it's been fantastic. Alexandra has had some wind and belly troubles and I think that the colic massage routine combined with nice warm baths has made a huge difference. We haven't tried any drops or anything, DP bought some dill and was going to make a tea but she seems to have gotten alot better.
She hates tummy time as well but doesn't seem to mind being on her belly laying across my legs during a massage. I tried to put her on the change table facing out today so she could look at me and that managed to delay the screaming for a minute or two
With the tummy sleeping and sids, apparently it's because their airways are more restricted when they are on their bellies - so more likely to choke if they vomit. One of the babies from our baby massage class stopped breathing during the week because he was sick and had a cough, luckily they had motion pad monitors and the alarms went off. He had to spend the night in hospital on oxygen. Gave me goosebumps listening to the story - very scary.
We also got a package from DP's parents yesterday full of clothes which was very exciting, like having a baby shower all over again! They live overseas and will be visiting for the first time in a few months.
Hope that all the bubbas have had a settled day with good sleeps and lots of smiles
Sorry to hear Susie had an upset tummy :( Food can be such a pain in the butt sometimes and trying to figure out what it was - looks like you know it is dairy which is good though. Fab weight gain
I don't think 200ml is too much for a feed, I am sure we will get up there soon, overnight Edison only drank 80ml a go, but filled up before bed, I think it all evens out in the end, Hollo - how much is Chelsea drinking a day?
Great to hear Alexandra loves the massage routine and yay for not having to use the drops - that is so good... I give a mini massage myself and do the clockwise circles on the tummy to help with digestion, but I might think about going to an actual class...
How scary about the bub with a cold - poor little mite :( We have the pad with the alarm as well, but I would still be scared!
We have a standing fan right next the change table which keeps Edison amused and also a black rectangular container that holds his nappies that he stares at during a change.
Hi Guys
Sorry I have been MIA for ages! Had a heap of family visiting and some internet problems...but all sorted now I hope :)
I know Ive missed a heap of personals....I will try to catch up when I can! Great to see some new faces in here :) such a chatty little group we are :) It fabulous!!
Someone was asking how a big a bottle bubs were taking.....Josh is downing about 180ml each feed (so roughly 1000ml per day) what a little piggy!!
Anyway someone is starting to wake up so I better go......I hope everyone is getting some regular sleep now and bubs are settling better :) The baby massage sounds really interesting, would love some more info on that :)
Hugs :)
Since saying he has 200ml, he has only been having 150-160
Taking Noah to the dr today, he has 2 strange lumps on the back of his neck.I am really concerned as to what they are.
I hope it's not allergies to this special milk, or cos I still do BF him as well.
Will find out soon.
Hope you are all having a nice afternoon & didn't go too insane with BB's downtime.
Kodi had her 8wk check-up & is doing well. She's 58cms & 5.1kg now.
Jo hope everything with Noah is ok.
we are in for 8 week check up next week
missed you all
I havent been able to get on here for days :-(
All is good here, cant believe how fast Ella is growing, she is so much more playful now. we got a roll from her tummy to her back this week but she wont do it again might have been a fluke :D
Talking about the SIDS my mum said they had to put there babies on there tummies in case they chocked on there vomit, it weird how now we get the opposite advice.
We have a great mummies group going, we have found a place that is going to set us up some baby equipment for us each week. Its very cute watching them start to interact with each other
Sorry for the selfish post, hope everybody and there bubs are good
I am having trouble getting a routine going, are they supposed to be in one yet?
Boy did I miss Belly Belly when it was down!
I think we are still having problems! I just wrote a nice big post and it is gone :( Ahhhh
Wow its not often I have to search for us on the second page lol!! Either everyone is having a very busy weekend or the BB downtime is continuing!
I agree Kellbell....its crazy how the advice and do's/dont's change like that! My Dad keeps telling me to put glycerin on Josh's dummy to settle him...when I say thats really bad for them he tells me how I had it all the time and loved it and Im still alive so wheres the problem lol Plus he thought it was cruel I didnt have a pillow in the cot....reconed it would be so uncomfortable for Josh to be lying flat like that
I hope everyone is doing really well with happy growing babies :) and maybe even getting some sleep!
This week Josh has freaked me out two nights in a row by sleeping right thru...one morning I actually had to wake him so I could take DH to work lol. He hasnt been feeding more thru the day tho...just sometimes drops that night feed...I guess his body will let him know if its not enough. I keep waking up at his normal night feed time and cant sleep without going in to check him afew times lol. Poor thing woke up with shocking diarrea today...hoping its nothing serious :(
Hopefully this post wont get eaten.....I will try to get back thru the week for personals....but for now Im off to my birthday party (30 ouch!!)
Kodi is now rolling from her tummy to her back, every time i put her down for tummy time & she doesn't want it she'll just roll over & give me this big cheeky smile.
Helen Kodi is mostly sleeping through now, she'll have her last feed 10-11pm & usually wake up 6-8 depending on her big sister. Sometimes she'll wake up just for a comfort suck & fall asleep within 1 min.
Happy Birthday & Have fun at ur b'day party, only 2wks till my birthday where has the year gone already.
Hi to everyone else
hi all, been a very windy whingy week here/ monday i know it was cause i had dairu sunday but not sure about rest of week. she had a huuuge pooh this morning, really wet one, but then went a couple of changes b4 another one. we found gripe water has helpec a bit, calms her down a bit!! but yeah poor lil tyke...and shes sooo tired, even though she went 10 hours between feeds last night woohoo! but she hasnt had any long sleeps during the day!
shes still hating tummy time, just sticking with doing it on my chest in the recliner! she can push up against me so i guess shes getting wat she needs for now~!!
Cant believe shes 8 weeks tomorrow!!! I'm hoping only another 4 weeks till her tummy settles but I hope they dont go quick cause I hate her growing up so fast!
helen - if you're interested in baby massage, our classes were run by a physio at the hospital and she showed us the techniques and gave us a sheet with all the techniques listed on it. And we also watched Pinky Mckay's baby massage dvd which demonstrated all the techniques. If you have the techniques written down and an alright memory you only need to see the dvd once. The dvd is available on her website or possibly you could get a copy from your local library.
has been very quiet on here lately! hows everyone going? we're doing ok here. Susie had a better day yesterday, not as much screaming. Brett had her for 2 hours..went to the supermarket to get a few things..she spat up on him 3 times lol, brought her home to change her then took her for a long walk! was loely for me - i had a nap then did some sewing. but I could tell he was WIPED after 2 hours. think he's developed an appreciation for how tired I get especially when we alone for the day hehe!
Baby Massage is awesome isnt it!! Susie seems to like it :)
Hello everyone! We are doing good.
Yay Ella for rolling!!
Yay Josh for sleeping through for two nights! Has there been some more repeats of this since, Helen?
Yay Kodi for rolling!! It is also good to here about her sleep habits, how lovely for you!!
DD is into a pretty good pattern, too. She goes down at 9pm, sleeps till 4am, has a feed and falls straight back to sleep before waking at 8 for her next feed. She will then sleep a further 2hrs till 10:30am. If I have to go somewhere before 10 she will usually still sleep, just in the car etc. During the day she is a bit of a snacker and napper. She will sleep 40minutes here and there, have small feeds every 2hrs or so and spend the rest of the time awake.
When should they start to be in the pattern of defined day naps? Right now, I am still just following her lead and watching for tired signs but do they fall into their own day sleep routine or is that something I have to look into encouraging? I have no problem with the way her days are now, I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing by her! How can I tell if she is sleeping too much? As long as she is fine when awake and has awake time during the day, is that enough of an indication that her sleep is okay? I *feel* like everything is good so I guess that is a positive sign.
Anyway, I gotta run! DD has finished feeding which means it is time for me to stop browsing!
Sorry to everyone I missed. Hope you are all well.
JB i'm just happy at least one of my kids is sleeping through, My toddler is waking at 3-4am every morning & refuses to go back down.
I really wouldn't worry about routines just yet, I think FF babies get into a routine sooner. Once Immy hits 12wks she'll start having more awake time as she'll want to start playing with more things :)
Hi to everyone else, hope your all well :)
