We are still here just had a busy week Miss c is 2 months today
Hi, can i join???? My little girl Lily was born 6 weeks prem. She is now 10 weeks old...but her adjusted age is 4 weeks, so her development is wa behind anything ive read here. We spent the fist 4 weeks of her life in NICU and hospital and its been a real tough journey!! She is struggling to put on weight and is a very grizzly baby....cries a lot and just wants to be held all the time! we cant put her down for a second...and i'm pretty sure we've tried all the strategies from any parenting books ive read!!! look forward to getting to know you all...and hopefully getting some tips too :)
Hi Dotty & welcome.
We're still here too, just been busy, argh sometimes I hardly seem to sit down at all!!
The lumps on Noah's neck are swollen lymph nodes & nothing to worry about. phew.
Catch up with you all soon!
hi dotty welcome
Hi Dotty! welcome for sure :) just a thought re clinging bub - have u tried a baby carrier/sling? may help her settle and still give u some freedom!
Mo sorry to hear about the 3am wakings!! hope she settles down!
Jo glad the lumps are nothing to worry about!
Jitter - Susie is really only catnapping mosr of the day here too, 45 min blocks mostly. but going for longer sleeps at night so guess it balances out!! I'e just been letting her dictate day sleeps too and put her down if she falls asleep!
hi everyone, god its been ages since i've been on here. we had our 8 week checkup today, David's been doing really well weight wise last visit he put on 480g in 2 weeks. but this week 20g in 2 weeks which isn't good. He is feeding well every 4 hours, seems to be latching on okay, sleeping well and a happy baby so its a mystery. I think its because I was demand feeding and MCHN said to not feed him unless its longer than 3.5hrs between feeds, he's been averaging 4 and a bit but maybe he was hungry and I didn't realise. I have to see MCHN thursday and wake him for feeds in the daytime (not at night thank god) and hopefully he's gained some, otherwise i'll have to express to top up his breastfeeding see if that helps. Otherwise she said it could be some underlying medical reason. I don't know its a bit baffling :dunno:
Has anyone elses bubs not gained weight after a huge spurt?
I have a question as well sorry if too much info:redface: but has anyone had their period back, just I think I've got mine the child nurse said its unusal but possible but I don't see Obstrecian for 6 week checkup till next week as his on holidays for 3 weeks . I didn't think you normally get one when your exclusively breastfeeding.
On a positive tummy time is going super, he can hold his head and chest up a bit which child nurse said was excellent they don't expect that until 4 months and he's only 2 months.
Hi, thanks for the welcomes.
MrsC_Aussie yeah i do have a sling, it helps me heaps during the day, just still wish i could get her to sleep in the bassinet rather than on me!!! maybe in time...fingers crossed!
auzzie.chick- yes ive already had my period back, and i thought the same thing..that it shouldn't come back while you are breastfeeding!!! oh and my little girl has been terrible at gainign weight the whole time since birth, but this is prob due to being prem. She is now 10 and a half weeks and weighs 2.715kg only!!! its a worry for me everyday, but hopefully we will get there in the end!!!!
Hi Dotty,
That is reassuring that people do get periods whilst breastfeeding, it probably is that then, which sucks really I thought it was gone for good whilst I was breastfeeding. Will keep an eye on it and check with obstrecian next week.
My niece has had problems similar to you she's 6 months and still struggling to gain weight it stresses my sister out no end.
auzzie.chick i thought i'd have a holiday from the periods too!!! sucks doesnt it!! heres hoping the weight gain improves for you niece as well an my DD!!!
hi everyone, i have been reading but havent had a chance to write. sorry bout that! :-)
welcome dotty.
we are going for our immunisations tomorrow, not looking forward to that. i am getting the implanon implant too, i am sick of the pill. btw- i have heard of heaps of ppl getting their period while breastfeeding, i dindt get mine first time round til 17months! YAY, dont have em yet either.
i have a bit of a head cold actually, its making it hard to be patient and energetic i can tell you! chelsea had a big cry in the car yesterday (she hates it) and when i finally got to her she had a runny nose! i am hoping it was just from crying and that she isnt sick. speaking of sick, is anyone freaking out about swine flu?
sleep... hmm.. some days are good some are bad still. i just cheer myself up by thinking how much of a bad sleeper DD2 was and now she is almost three she is pretty good.. so it doenst last forever! i know what you mean about wishing they would just sleep in cot/basinette, it kinda sux at times when they want to sleep on you. but really when they are all grown up you are gonna look back and remember those special times and miss it!
oh, i have found that chelsea sleeps heaps better on her tummy but i am so nervous about it still. the other night i waited up til 11pm before i went to bed cause i copuldnt go to sleep with her on her tummy in her cot in the other room! i ended up going in and flipping her over, of couse she woke up so she came straight into bed with me. to tell u the truth i was much more relaxed with her in there with me.
milestones-- hmmm.. not much in the rolling or head lifting department here. its wierd cause DD1 was super fast at reaching those milestones, she was crawling at 5months!! i dont think chelsea is gonna be quite as fast with it all.
anyway, glad that everyone is doing well!
Welcome Dotty!
We got immunised this morning and it was horrible. Alexandra is a pretty quiet baby and she screamed and screamed then fell asleep a few minutes later. I think it was a coping mechanism for the pain because she is usually awake at that time of morning. She was grizzly all day and had a few more screaming fits throughout the day so we have had lots of cuddles today and she is asleep on my chest at the moment
Hollo - sucks to be sick, hopefully you get better soon and the kids don't get sick as well
Dotty and Auzzie - Sending you good vibes and hoping that your bubs keep steadily putting on weight. I was freaking out when Alexandra hadn't started putting on weight 2 weeks after she was born, thinking that she wasn't getting enough milk and that i was starving her. She was a big baby to start with, 4.44kg and lost a couple of hundred grams, but once she started to put it on she has turned into a little heifer and is 6.2kg
Hi Ladies!
Welcome Dotty :p
Gosh the thread has been busy all of a sudden... love that.
I understand about the stress of babies not putting on weight, Edison didn't put on ANY weight for over a month. In the end he was put on formula and is now doing really well. Hang in there everyone, sending lots of chubby thoughts to you all!
Poor little bubs who are getting immunised - I think it is worse for us sometimes. Good Luck with it all, hope it all goes well.
auzzie.chick - I hope the weight improves, I was feeding every 4 hours as well and he was sleeping fine and doing all the normal things, was just weird he wasn't putting on weight, in the end I had to feed every 2-3 hours and supplement with formula then breast and so on, I had to stop with the breast in the end as everytime we did the breast he would cry and I would have to top him up, the breast just wasn't happening for us... He is great now and has a little cute double chin... Great news on tummy time and holding head up!
funkeefrog - Hope Alexandra is better today and over her little grizzles.
Hollo - Get better soon lots of rest - which is easier said than done with 2 little ones! I love co-sleeping too and find it easier to do sometimes, so go for it if you get more sleep...
Jitterbug - Edison catnaps during the day and does a big sleep at night - I love the night sleep, he sounds very similar although he will do a 2 hour sleep in the afternoon, not the morning and feeds every 2 hours as well. I thought every 2 hours was a lot and was thinking about giving more formula to keep him going longer - hmm - I know I have to increase the formula for the first wake up feed of the morning as he is STARVING - so funny... Yay for the rolling too!
MrsC_Aussie - Glad to hear the gripe water is working for you, we have to burp during a feed for wind or else we have nasty times - hurry up and burp by themselves I say!
Storm - Good to hear that the lumps are nothing to worry about :)
We don't have rolling here yet, but the head is pretty much supported now which is amazing, won't be long til it is totally supported which is exciting. Still we don't have that many smiles yet, only on special occasions - I think he saves them up!
OK! Sorry for the long post, trying to get to the personals :)
xxx
Hollo - hope you are feeling better!! and that chelsea didnt get sick!!
dotty and auzzie - bummer re the periods! no signs of them here yet *fingers crossed*
funkee - poor lil chooken with the immunizations!! am sure she was glad to have mummy to cling to!
Susie is not having her immunizationst till next week but DH and I had the whooping cough one on monday.
How much is everyone's bubba sleeping? I don't think Susie is sleeping enough, she is getting a good 6-7 hours block at night, but shes only catnapping during the day. longest sleeps are in my arms! shes still having quiet alert happy time, but yeah, surely she should be having a couple of 1hr + naps during the day.
Hello all

Linda
hi all,
it has been at least a month since i was on, the laptop broke and had to be fixed.
Allyeria is doing well at her 8wk checkup she was 6.2kg and 61cm long, my big bubba! she is into 00 outfits now. she drinks about 150ml-200ml every 3 hrs and sleeps from 6:30/7pm to 7am with some stiring starting from 4am but goes back to sleep with her dummy. she smiles all the time now and talks heaps. when she is napping i sometimes get a giggle but wont do it when she is awake and we r tickling her like crazy. we have a pretty good routine now but somedays she catnaps at 20mins a time and only when i am holding her - she is abit of a koala its hard to get anything done around the house. we borrowed a swing but she is not very impressed with it and i may only get enough time to pee before she cries. she hasn't rolled yet but can lift herself right up on her hands. she only ever sleeps on her tummy (since birth) and has no probs - she wont sleep on her back at all. she is very much a little princess and she lets me know everyday :) we are just soo in love with her, she has us all wrapped around her little finger.
i have had a few problems with AF i have been on the pill for 2mths now and for most of that time i have still been bleeding i even got a higher dose but i still spot it is driving me crazy.
sorry for the long post i hope to be able to get on more often now, it sounds like everyones bubbas are thriving well!!!
take care
treena
Hi Everyone and welcome Dotty,
Treena, Dotty and Auzzie - what a pain about AF. I had been getting worried as I was still bleeding from the birth up until 8 weeks, but then (thank goodness) it stopped. Not expecting my AF to return as my cycle is almost non-existent (hence the IVF).
TL - I hear you about the clinginess after the immunisation. Jasmine was very clingy for about 48 hours afterwards and also ran a mild temp for that time (had to give her panadol to bring it down). Great weight gain.
Mrs C - I've had problems with Jasmine sleeping during the day also. My MCHN says that babies have a 45 minute sleep cycle, and it looked like Jasmine was just going to sleep for one of those. The nurse has said that I should be trying to get her to sleep for 2 45 minute cycles during the day. So our plan now is that we feed and play for 1 hour, then try to get Jasmine to sleep for 2 (doesn't always work though!) My nurse suggested that when she wakes from the first cycle to try and resettle her where she is... that is rocking in the pram or patting on the back, but trying not to pick her up to settle as that will just wake her up more.
Hi to everyone else... hope all is well...
Well yesterday was very strange for us. Jasmine was cluster feeding all day. Normal she feeds every 3 hours (breast) during the day, then I get one 5 hour stretch over night then back on every three hours. Well yesterday little Miss decided that she needed to eat every 2 1/4 hours up until 10:30pm (that was tiring!), but the great news is that she then slept for 7 hours!!!!!!! That is the first really big sleep I have had since she was born... WOW I forgot how good it felt. We are back on 3 hourly feeds so far today. She must be going through a growth spurt and stimulating my milk supply for it.
She is putting on weight well - which is such a relief as it is hard to know if she is getting enough food when you are breast feeding. Now weighs 4.835kg at her 8 week check up which is a total weight gain on 1kg in a month. She is getting so strong with holding her head up. No rolling yet, but so proud of how strong she is getting.
Talk Soon,
Janie and Jasmine xxx
Hi guys
I havent been near the pc much lately...I got a shocking head cold and now have a grizzly clingy bub....hope I didnt get him sick too! Ive still been reading the email updates, just havent had a chance to post much :(
So good to see more new peoples popping in :) welcome welcome :)
I hope everyone else is hanging in there and going ok!! Someone mentioned AF returning.....we are formula feeding and yes I have had AF return once....remains to be seen if its back to a regular thing yet.
Got Joshie weighed at mummys group yesterday......he was chucking a huge tantrum and wouldnt sit still....so his clothed wriggly weight is 6.5kg.....really didnt think he would be that big!! Yikes!!
Getting more sleep thru the night now too which is really good and makes these grizzly days so much easier to handle!!
Hope everyone is well..... big hugs to all :)
Hopefully I will back to normal soon....miss you guys!
hi all,
chelsea got a temp from her vaccinations too, panadol did the trick. luckily she wasnt clingy or whingey, she was quite sleepy. i think i have given her my germs too, she is all snuffly, poor little mite.
i thought her weight 5.4kg was quite big but i see some of your bubs are weighing more. so cute, i love their little chubby legs!
i got the implanon implant too, and had to go back cause i couldnt feel it. i have to get an ultra sound done to locate it. bloody hassle!
thats all from me for now.
