Babies born March 16th-31st 2009 #4

I'm surprised she said that to you Corelly especially after your DD's history. She sounds like she is doing wonderfully. One of my friend's DS didn't walk until about 16 months and he never crawled "properly". His motor skills are perfectly fine now at age three so I don't really think crawling "properly" has much to do with development. I don't know any adults who can't crawl "properly" do you? I can't stand MCHN's. Skye hasn't been to one since she was 8 weeks old after they told me that I was toilet training DD1 wrong (she was fully TT day and night at 22 months so I must have been doing something right!). That was the last straw. I've never had a positive experience there. I just get the check ups done at the GP when she goes for her needles. Speaking of which, I really need to organise them.......My little girl is 1 tomorrow!! Woohoo!!

Phoenix - I thought it was odd too, especially when I've known babies who didn't crawl at all. I hate it how we're continually told, "all babies develop at different rates" but then they still call bubs like mine underdeveloped. Pfft!! I just smile and say, no worries!

NikW - Happy birthday for your beautiful one for tomorrow! Hope it's a great day for you both. I agree on the MCHN. I've changed once already - the previous one got really annoyed with me on one occassion because the centre gave me an appointment at 12 and she wanted to have lunch. She spent five minutes with us and it was right when we were about to start solids. The advice she gave me - she handed me a piece of paper with some pictures of food on it and told me that's all I'd need. Cheers!! The one I see is more thorough and she's really friendly, but a lot older and definitely by the book. Oh well, don't have to go back for a while.

DD had her needles last night, poor munchkin. One in each arm and one in her leg. She's just about had enough of all the poking and prodding and when the first needle went in, she just looked at me, like "Why Mum???".

Hey Girls! Haven't been in here in ages and have missed a lot of b'days. Hope that everyone is having a good time with parties and family and friends.

Wow! Lots of birthdays! Happy birthday to all the bubs out there and hope you've all had wonderful days.

I've decided that now DD is one, it's time to get out there! I've always tried to do the right thing by DH and restrict our weekly activities so we can do them on the weekends and he doesn't miss out. But he works a lot and I'm finding that DD and I are not getting to do the things that I want us to do. Sunday we went to the zoo as a family and she loved it, was mesmerised by Mali the baby elephant - but warning for anyone wanting to go. We lined up for 45 minutes to see her, and that was at 10am!

Today I took DD to the pool and she managed to sit and not grizzle, which is a first. It's all new to her - she's been in a pool a few times now, but having the brace on for so long meant that this isn't something she's used to yet. We were sitting with a 7mo who was just awesome, crawling around and putting his head under the water. I hope DD got some tips from him! I'm going to find a playgroup for us to be part of too. She only sees her 18mo cousin, no other kids, so I think it's time to change that!

Now K is walking i can take my girls to the park etc, Makes my life so much easier.
I found meeting up with some BB girls is always good as well.

Thanks guys, we have had a nice morning so far. Been to playgroup and had morning tea there, Alexandra had a stack and grazed her knee on top of another graze she already had, but apart from that she had a great time. She's down for her nap and I've just made the bolognaise sauce for dinner tonight (her favourite) and probably going to go swimming or something this arvo. We are going to have the big party/cake/presents when DP gets back in a few weeks. I can't wait!

I agree Corelly - definitely you need to get out and have some adult interaction as well otherwise you'll go crazy! Playgroups and BB meet ups are awesome for this, I wish I still lived near some BB girls. I am trying to increase my exercise time so we try to walk to the shops to check the mail in the mornings as well. Just getting out of the house does wonders for both me and DD. I would love to take Alexandra to the zoo. We are in Sydney for a wedding this weekend but won't have time for the zoo :(

Corelly - I would LOVE to see the baby elephant too! We are on a short break and thinking of going to Healesville sanctuary as it isnt far away.
I will be madly trying to catch up with all my friends and bubs next week as I only have a few days to do it.

Hoping you all had a fun Easter and are getting over the chocolate cravings that seem to go on for a bit after an indulgence I find. Hot cross buns are hard to pass up also. T loves the buns. I think she is too little for chocolate so we bought her a nice light for her bedroom which she loves to look at.

I was so upset just then because I thought that my mum had stuffed up the video of us singing happy birthday to alexandra but I forgot to transfer it from the camera :redface:
We set up a mini banana muffin with a candle in it and got my parents and DP on skype with his family to all sing happy birthday - it was fantastic.

Enjoy your holiday SP! The easter bunny brought some books and alphabet cookie cutters for Alexandra. I got one bunny and some small solid and caramel eggs and have been rashioning it out. I may be one of the few people who actually weighed out their chocolate into individual portion sizes but I don't want to undo my hard work, i've lost 11kg since the start of the year.

Thanks guys, I still have a little bit to go but it feels so go to be back into some size 12 clothes.

We got A's needles done yesterday, she's 11.1kg and 81cm. I went to the podiatrist last week and they had a clearance on Clarks shoes so got her sized up for some and she's a size 5. We're going to a wedding in Wollongong this weekend but apart from that nothing much else is happening here

FF - how did A go with the 12 month needles? I have out Ts off until next week. It can make it hard to get a good nights sleep so I planned them during my holidays.
Baby shoes are way TOO CUTE! Your bub has a good size foot. T is only a size 3 at this stage. I did find that different brands had slightly different sizing though.

We took T to a B and B for an overnight indulgence and she was terrific. We had a great time - went to the beach and had spas and ate out etc. A lovely age to take her away!

FF sounds like you will have a very tall girl. Maybe she'll be a model or a basketball player ;)

K is a size 2 so has even smaller feet than T. We often joke K will be 5ft nothing in a house full of 6 footers lol
