I've been wondering about baked beans too. I've got two small tins in the cupboard thinking the girls would give them a go. They refused, so they are just sitting there waiting. Maybe I'll try them for tea tonight. No idea what the rest of us will be having.

Glad I'm not the only one with the seperation issues!

I'm trying to give Jazz water to drink coz I was told that she should be having water as well as formula now but she just flat out refuses to drink water. I've tried in a bottle, I've tried a sippy cup - she just chews on the sippy cups. We've been using Avent bottles you can get sippy attachments to use instead of teats which I'm thinking about getting. You can also get handles for them which we use and they are great. Jazz is getting the hang of those and will grab the bottle out my hand when I'm holding her while preparing it.

Jesse's had a sippy cup & bottle of water for a while now. Just for something different really. I have the Avent bottles & the orange handles to go with them, but he hasn't got the hang of them yet.
He doesn't mind his cup. I drove all over town trying to find one with handles, but there were none, so his has no handles, but he's getting it. He chewed on it at first, but now he's starting to actually drink it. I've given him some water out of a normal cup too.

poopy loved his baked beans, but then i read that it has this and that blah blah.

i started him with a sippy cup for water, it took a while for him to get used to it. i got him the Heinz sippy cup, he chewed on it then then learnt to sip water out of it. so then i switched his bottle, and got another sippy cup. it takes him a bit longer to drink than with a bottle but he manages fine it sometimes he holds the handles and TRIES to drink it. often it lands on the floor many times!
it's not cheap tho. but there's one that comes w different attachment, so you can change the sippy cup to one w small holes, and a normal one as they get older

I gave Will an empty sippy cup with handles when he started to put things to his mouth a good while back now and gradually started adding water to it. He always has it after he eats and has learnt to tip it up when he wants more water. Its a good habit to get into for dental hygiene and swish and swallow takes excess food off their gums and teeth,
We have managed to make it through all the high alergin foods and eating just about everything now he particulalry loves choping on strawberries I take the green off and he keeps shoving and chewing and becasue they are nice and ripe it sort of melts in his moth same with kiwi fruit is the new fav.

I havent tried baked beans yet, but thats cos we havent had them, think that would be a great one for her thou...
I probably would buy the salt reduced ones thou.

Think we are getting a storm, i have a headache

Oh and on a controversial topic, MJ has started on the potty, afetr feeds and when she gets up, no big deal we just sit there for a minute or to and if she does something there is loads of clapping etc if there is nothing thats fun too, we usually play a game when she sits there or she holds a toy.... ANYWAY she did her first poo on the potty yesterday and we sung poo-poo on the pot-ty (to the tune of the conga) i was so excited and it was massive (TMI i know!!!)

    MJ hates sippy cups

    Hey girls,

Well i was a bad mumma today I left DJ's dummy at home so he didn't have it at childcare and was really unsettled arghhhh I didn't even think to just go and buy one and drop it back to them.... Ended up leaving work early and picking him up at 3pm which was ok, he came home and slept and fed much happier. The carers were really nice about it, but i felt bad, typical motherhood guilt I suppose.... Good excuse to leave work early though

BUT the best news is that DJ is now sitting up all by himself I am so proud and it is so much easier now that he sits up by himself.

Re: water - I wish DJ would drink water - he just spits it out and looks at me as if to say you think I am stupid haha

Re: first words - wow, I wasn't sure if some of the things I heard were first words or not. I wasn't sure if they could actually say anything at this age, goes to show how much I have read...... DJ has said 'Hi' back to Doni when he has said it....we both were almost in tears and wondered if we heard right.... so obviously we did. Ok, now just train him to say mummy and then I am set

re: solids - DJ is now fighting back from eating his lunch meal, when he was eating it last week. Has anyone else found that? For breakfast I am giving him rice cereal or yoghurt which he abo****ely loves, and for lunch is normally a vege puree and dinner is normally a fruit puree or something. All depends on the day.... Just wanted to know how you are all going with solids.

    Now personals.....

SJ - sounds like you are having a great time and congrats on MJ's first words

Skye - sounds like a great trip to the beach and DJ is an expert on fighting sleep also, he wriggles around and then I walk back in and find him right up the top of the cot with no blanket on or he just lays in his cot giggling and cooing then falls to sleep.

Danni - how was the trip to the beach?

Prama - wow so many changes for him, he is growing so quick. Looks like you will see him crawling in no time, since he is really trying to do it more wooohoooo

Trina - hope the girls get better soon. So many things going around. Since I have been back at work, I am continually getting sick grrrr damn aircon I blame!!

    Well I better go.

I think Jazz was completely worn out from her beach trip with my friend. She was asleep at 6:30 when I got home tonight and is still asleep (but I think she's waking up)

Go MJ on the toilet training. I spend 6 months of my year toilet trianing at work *L* a few of thr younger babies are trying this mehod which has proven succesfful for those really committed. YOu know during the war particulalry in the country areas with little water babies were always trained this young becasue mums coudl not wash nappies or they were in low supply hope it goes well. Makes you think about the 3rd of the worlds population who odnt use nappies at all huh and they have been doing it for a loooooooooooooong time

Shell Will has 3 solid feeds a day and has dropped a bottle feed. He doesnt have puree as such I just mash stuff. If have tried allt he high alergen food and he is fine and enjoys the variety. He hates any sort of tinned food so try to make a variety of stuff a thome. He has weetbix and fruit or youghurt for breakfast and water. for lunch he wil have any sort of the combos i have made including pastas and tomatoes, chicekn and gravy with potatoe and spinach, he has carrot, sweet potatoe, pumpkin ,zuchini, scrambeled eggs quiche, spag bol, roast dinners, tuna and rice cheese, avocado, sweetcorn, bread, brocoli, custard, strawberries, kiwifuits, bannana ( now) pears, apricots, peaches, prunes( just a litte in with other fruit)and we let him try just about anything we are eating now I know he isnt allergic. He has water with everymeal and I Offer it during the day especialy if we have been out and about as he gets really thirsty. He doesnt really like puree at all he would rather chew on something which makes life a little easier and he could demolish a punnet of strawberries i fyou let him *L*

yay on sitting up dj way to go you clever boy!! i would be excited tooo
Not a bad mumm a busy multi tasking mumma. I have an extra in my handbag and 2 in the nappy bag for just in case becasue its always when you want want huh *L*

Trina yay on the horse riding lesson and your weight loss you sound determined..you go girl!!

I think my man's teething. Second time this week his had a red cheek & been grumpy. Maybe he'll finally cut one soon. Poor bubba. He was rubbing & pulling at his ear before too. & chewing on his dummy.
Biting my hands everytime he gets hold.

Trina - how do you go BFing with teeth. I'm kinda scared. He often squeezes his gums on me if he goes to sleep, or is not quite finished, or simply doesn't wanna let go.
I'm scared he will bite my nipple off!

I think Jazz has cut her 2nd tooth. Re words, I have been thinking about it and I'm not sure but I think Jazz may have said "yeah" a few times, like we'll say something and then she'll respond with something that sounds like "yeah" as an answer to a question. She was so excited when I dropped her off at mum & dad's. Mum is so excited about having her until dinner time tomorrow and had heaps planned. We are watching the grand final and then hopefully we'll be able to go out and celebrate with a few drinks tonight (GO HAWKS).

Teeth and bfing sometimes DON'T go together. As much as it killed me i had to tap her on the hand a few times cos she has bitten me a few times, i had to say no loudly and lightly smack her hand cos they are like razors. My mum had her nipple half bitten off by my bro she had to have it sewn back on OUCH!! Even when she latches on sometimes they brush against me and it really really really hurts.

I am sick of being on a sh*t house rollercoaster life is weird, busy, crazy. One minute great next minute SH*T....

Mum sold her house today so 6 weeks then she is off to QLD so i will most likely have to quit my job. She isn't concerned at all about me not that she has to but i am in the midst of a life crisis and she is pi$$ing off to another state. Was missing ex until yesterday, he picked the kids up and i am pretty sure he was drunk. I am no longer the "fun" parent, they love going with him cos they can do whatever they want and when with me they have chores etc. so not missing him any more Anyway sorry to babble crap......

    My god i need a wine .......

And with all this Summy is going 100 miles per hour and into everything and is staring to pull herself up on things i need to put the cot mattress down cos i caught her in there standing up... She was in the kitchen before trying to eat cat food then went over to the oven ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! she is into everything i found her chewing on the vacuum cleaner cord (wasnt plugged in luckily) can't leave her for 1 second.

So glad I stopped BF before teething started! I hope she's being good at Grumpy & Gran's house. Haven't had any phone calls so that's gotta be a good thing. My plans for tonight were runined by DH who declared tonight that he didn't want to go out and hates going out. Why did he have to wait until we were on our way out to mention that? I've been going on and on about tonight since last weekend. He got all depressed and upset when we went to go to a pool lounge and they refused entry coz he was wearing a hat - he didn't want to take it off coz his hair was really shocking.
