*Update from the land of cold turkey toilet training!*

Current casualty count - three pairs of undies...

BUT she was very excited to wear her 'princess' undies this morning, has obligingly hopped on the toilet every forty-five mins or so. The first accident she came and told me she got her skirt wet, changed clothes and undies, the second time she came and told me she'd done a wee (not 5 mins after a trip to the loo) and the third time was immediately after she'd tried on the toilet. So I'm taking the positives:

1. She's telling me when she's done a wee (which she's never done before);
2. She wants to do it all herself, climb up, pull down her pants and sit on; and
3. Her wees are getting closer to when we're actually on the toilet - so I'm thinking her body is getting the idea.

I am glad we have planned four days to do this at home though... And especially glad the weather is warm!

I feel bad because Mia is almost 2 and a half and is so not interested in being toilet trained. She tells me when she wees and poohs, but wont have a bar of the potty. Any suggestions?

Other than that she is well and truely a terrible two poster child. Just when I thought she was getting better, she reverted back to her naughty pushing her sister over behaviour today :wall:

Someone told me today, it doesnt get better anytime soon ... sigh!

dont feel bad my DD wont have a bar of it either, im not sure what to do. when she first turned 2 there was about one week where she was interested but now she just sez no and cries if i dont put a nappy back on her, there is the odd day when she'll sit on her potty but it doesnt last and she just wants her nappy again (she has 'dora' undies which she lurrves but she still wants to get changed back to a nappy) She also will tell me when she needs a nappy change and has started to become dry over night time but no real developments in potty use (we have a potty and a toilet seat that goes on the normal toilet, and also had tried one that has little steps and handles at the top so they can get up there themselves)
I really want to get the TT done by christmas, i dont want to have to buy 3 different sizes of nappies to fit each kid! BARGHH

Ohmygodimamum if there is one thing I am learning, and learning it fast, its that 2 year olds definately have a mind of their own. Basically anything you want them to do, they dont want to do :cryinglaugh:.

We had a bad experience Friday night, I took the girls to the shops and put Mia in the front seat, whilst I went to put Tay in the car and the pram away ... thought this was the safest thing to do. Anyway I realised I didnt have my keys, so I hopened the passenger door and out fell Mia on her head and on the ashphelt. Because our car windows are tinted I didnt realise she was leaning again the door. I tried to catch her, but wasnt quick enough. This lady stopped and said I will look after your baby, you look after the other one. She then tried to give me money to buy a lollie pop to make her better. How nice is that. You dont get that these days. Anyway ... Mia didnt cry at first, she got up and goes I am ok, then started crying. I felt soooooooo bad. She has a graze on her head, she was very lucky!

Anyway .. I need to go and sort my girls out, they are into everything! Mia gets into mischief and Tay is right behind her now, since she is crawling. Its cute, but they are naughty together. Lots of going into the bedrooms and shutting the doors, so I am constantly hot on their tails making sure they are ok! :wall:

Hi to everyone!

We have had a couple of accidents this morning (at a playdate...), she just isn't sure quickly enough when she needs to go. But she proudly tells me 'I don't pee in Mummy's car!' so at least that's something that's gotten through! Her bladder control is great (hours in the afternoon) and we did a little wee in the toilet at church yesterday, so I'm sure she'll get there eventually. In the meantime, just as well we have lots of undies and understanding friends!

kazaraz, poor little Mia. Sounds like she was very brave and how nice of the lady to help (she obviously remembers what it's like!).

Lucy locked herself in our car this morning after swimming. We have sensor locking, you touch the door handle in a certain spot on the outside and when you shut all the doors it automatically locks. Well, I didn't realise she'd done it, strapped her into her seat and shut the door with my bag (and keys and phone) inside! Rushed back inside to swimming, rang Daddy (whose office is only a few minutes away) and he dashed over with his keys. So from now on I won't be putting my bag in the car before I put her in! Arggghhh!

Must go, house to tidy. DP told me to get a cleaner last week (because I've been working heaps, not because I'm a slob LOL) and they're coming in an hour, so I need to put toys, etc, away... Yippeee - I'm so excited that someone else will keep on top of my housework!

SHE DID IT!!!!

It took a whole week before it seemed to *click* (except at preschool, she could wee on the toilet there :rolleyes:). By Friday I was thinking I had really better see some improvement beyond just holding on for hours and Saturday we bit the bullet and went shopping...

Long story short, she finally did a wee on the little toilet at the shopping centre and the look on her face was priceless! She was so pleased she'd done it for Mummy and she hasn't looked back since. She's filling up her sticker chart so fast it'll be done by the end of the week. We've had a couple of accidents, because she doesn't yet come running to tell me she needs to go, but she'll wee (and poo!) when I put her on the toilet when she can. Even her nap time nappy has been dry for two days running.

So glad I can now relax a bit...!

Yay for Lucy ... that is great Jen! I had a chuckle about her comment of not doing a wee in the car, dont they just come out with the best one liners!

I have tried with Mia this week, she doesnt want knickers on full stop. I have persisted and she will sit on the loo but not do anything. She has done two poo's in her knickers and told me once she needed to do a wee and went as I puller her knickers down! So I think that I will give it a break for a couple of weeks and come back to it.

Yay clever Lucy! Today was day 1 for us, and well lets just say I put a nappy back on by lunch LMAO. He was just weeing every 10 mins or so, or less!! I'd put him on the loo, he'd wee. Praise etc etc etc. Gets off and puts undies back on... within minutes he does a MASSIVE wee on the lounge. ok. clean him up and put him on the loo, go and clean the lounge.. he does another wee on the loo. Yay for weeing in the toilet.. put clean undies on, and then he goes and does another massive wee in his room! I couldnt' believe it. I was actually nearly in tears with the frustration coz I just couldn't believe it! So I decided to stick the nappy on and keep taking him to the toilet, coz I was verging on punishing him for not using the toilet. But inevitably I got lazy later this afternoon.. argh.

So in a nutshell, I can put him on the loo and he'll go every time, but he ALWAYs has reserves for the floor and furniture! :( Think it's gonna be a looooong process.

Liz I am sympathising with you, its frustrating. I also after her doing a poo in her nappy at lunch put her nappy back on. We will see what happens in the next couple of week. :wall:

Liz, it honestly sounds like he gets the whole process but his little bladder is not quite developmentally ready. This is where they talk about the difference between boys and girls, it has nothing to do with knowing what to do and how to do it, his waterworks just aren't ready yet.

I remember in Pinky's book (I think) that one of the signs they might be ready for TT is when a nappy can be dry after some time. This is about the ONLY thing Lucy did have b4 we started! Maybe give yourself a break and keep checking from time to time how long he can go without weeing in his nappy?

Hahaha... well, we are tidying for the cleaner, but I am perfectly happy to let them do all of the work that involves water and sponges!

Well its 11.54pm and I have lost count at how many times Mia has gotten up for one reason or another tonight. I have just put her back to bed again! The only consolation is that I have put Tay's party bags together for Saturday and found plastic plates, knives and forks that I had stashed away. Scary thing is she still doesnt seem tired and has asked for a book! I am close to closing the door ... I wonder if her late night will mean she sleeps in in the morning? I dont think so!

Thanks .. but no such luck! We didnt get a lot of sleep last night. Between Mia and Taygan being really unsettled. I think she might be cutting her eye teeth or maybe its a bit of seperation anxiety? She follows me everywhere crying as she crawls, when I change Mia she is trying to crawl up me legs ... its getting a bit frustrating as I just cant hold her all the time. I forget if Mia went through this at the same age?

How did Taygan's birthday party go?

Lucy is doing really well, pretty much toilet trained now, hardly ever has accidents. Still yet to come to us to say when she needs to go, but at least I can ask her now and she'll tell me (and be right!) if she does/doesn't.

My Mum is coming down tonight to stay for a few days. I have my graduation ceremony tomorrow and since she couldn't come to my undergrad it's nice she's here for this one. Lucy is going to a friend's (not sure how she'd possibly sit still for an hour just watching people walk up on a stage!).

Hi Jen, you sound really busy! I dont know how you work and be a Mum ... I struggle with just being a mum most days. Having two so close together is definately a challenge.

Tay's birthday party went really well. Melbourne turned on the sunshine just at the right time which we were happy with, our little munchkin was in a great mood all day and the cake turned out well (there is a pic in the gallery!).

Lucy sounds like she is going great guns with her toilet training ... congrats to you and her both!

How exciting that your mum is coming down. I bet you are looking forward to that. We are heading to Adelaide tomorrow, to spend a week with my parents. Bruno is in Sydney again all next week, so we didnt want to stay home alone! He gets home today, and I am more than ready for him to come back. I am so lonely without him.

Hi everyone.....this is a busy household as well. Doing much of nothing, just always busy.

Bradley is on the countdown to his birthday. He is having 2 friends sleep over then about another 10 school and family friends come the next day for a party at home. He has informed me he is having a treasure hunt, piniata, and water balloons. No word on what the cake will be yet, but i am sure it will need to be a masterpiece and i will get barley any notice once he has decided.

Liam is still on the toilet training train. He will go if we ask, when changing his nappy and if he thinks about it early enough we get there in time for #2's...usually with me noticing and asking if he needs to go and telling him to stop pushing, usually resulting in a (TMI warning) half in half out poo, but nothing in nappy.

We had Liam's appointment with specialist and he is going to monitor him for several years to come. We have 3 monthly app booked until july 2009 at this stage. He said he is in the lowest % for "normal" and we have had a huge array of bloods done including chromosomal (as DH's brother has a chromosome abnormality) and to "cover all bases". The Dr didn't seem to think nor saw any signs of anything abnormal just the fact he is smaller than average, hence the reason for such an ongoing plan to monitor. As the dr said our bodies grow for about 18-20 years, so by monitoring Liam for a few of those years he will get an indication of his growth rate/speed and should get an indication from further test later on if he will indead keep growing past the time when his friends have finished growing or if he will need any treatmentto help stimulate his growth. Obviously the government don't just hand out this type of treatment so by doing a full screening of his bloods now will show that he has in fact been monitored for a long period of time so if and when the need arises it will be easier to access treatment. So i guess for the time being we just wait and see if this growth spurt the Dr is expecting between 2 and 3 years will actually happen. We go back in Jan to get the blood results unless we hear anything sooner as some of the tests take quiet a while to do, which he said "only if something unexpected is found" he would contact us. So fingers crossed!

I had to do a double take there and make sure it wasnt your 2 year old telling you what cake he was having and that he was having a sleep over .. haha. I cant imagine getting to that stage. They are real little people once they hit school, have mates come over for play dates and sleepovers! Part of me cant wait ... the other part doesnt want my baby to grow up!

We are all pretty good this end really. Mia still hasnt started toilet training, but only because we have been travelling a bit of late. I might try this week again and see if she is any keener on it this time! She knows but I think is just lazy. We also want to try and get rid of her dummy, which we thought we had achieved last night as it was lost. But never fear, she found an old crappy one somewhere and has been carrying that around. She doesnt seem to suck it, but like to chew it? Surely that cant be good? Anyone else have this problem?

I am also finding it really hard to get Mia to bed, she seems to be having night terrors or something. Its like she is frightened to go to bed. Last night wasnt as bad, so maybe we are starting to turn a corner there.

My one year is into everything, still not walking or even standing yet. But her sister was slow at doing those things, so we werent expecting anything different this time!

Anyway, I thought everyone had forgotten about this page as they havent posted in so long. SO thanks Kas for letting us know you are still out there.
