Cass - She is still having the spots come out but they are looking the same as the hormone rash did when it came out in full force so I have no idea. She doesn't seem bothered by them so I am not too concerned.
For any of you that buy That's Life magazine, the bottom right of page 39 there is a very interesting article on starting solids in children under 6 months done by a UK research group. Worth a read.
Kailee has started trying to roll from her back over, its so funny to watch! She has been rolling from her belly to her back since 4 days old so now she is trying to go the other way!
Anyway better get to bed
Hello ladies...how is everyone? Have read all of your posts - way too much to read after being offline for a week! Glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well. Sorry to hear that a couple of you are having some trouble with night sleeps (was that SArah and Karina? Sorry).
Well...we got back from rainy Adelaide last night at 9.30pm after a 12hour drive. Both DH and me are so so proud of Grace - she was such a good girl. It took 12.5 hours to get over and she slept for most of it, just needing to stop for feeds. She got a bit irritable at Bordertown so we stopped and set up a play area on the back seat and let her have a kick around while we ate tea (it was pouring outside so the car was our cozy cacoon!). She handled being passed around and meeting the entire family very well. At the wedding on Sunday she slept in the HAB and was cuddled by many people. Everyone thought she was absolutely gorgeous. She was full of smiles for everyone. She slept perfectly overnight too which we thought may have been a problem. I can now see the benefit to having your baby sleep in your room with you - it was so much easier getting up to her in the night! Although, I don't think we slept as well - goodness she is a noisy sleeper! The trip back wasn't as good as the way there - I think she had just had enough. She became VERY upset in Ararat, and so we stopped in Balarat for and hour and a half to try and calm her down and she eventually settled and slept the rest of the way home. Fed and bathed then down to bed and she slept until 6am! Such a good girl! She was spoilt with presents of course - amazing that we could fit everything in the car to get home. It's amazing how quickly a car fills up when you put in a pram and a port a cot and a big suitcase! Anyway, very very glad to be home. Other than mothers group today Grace and I are home bodies for the next couple of days - no visiting for us!
OOoohhh...on another note - my girlfriend had a baby boy this morning!! Joshua Edward - that moves another name of our list for the next one! They have a 2 year old daughter so very happy for them to have a little boy. Can't wait to go and see the new addition - have to get a present, more shopping, yay!
Anyway, should get off the computer and start unpacking and washing - poor DH had to go back to work this morning - no rest for him. Just wanted to say hi. Take care.
Rachel, what a good traveller she is!! We drove to Toowoomba (2 hours) the other week and I ended up having to sit in the back with Oskar most of the way!! lol.
Jo, have you had your hair done yet??
I also have lost heaps of hair...not as much as I was though!! At first there was sooooo much that I could've made wigs ... SERIOUSLY!!
Caro, wtg on Michael's weight!! Oskar has an amby hammock and loves it! He only sleeps in it at night though cos for some reason during the day he refuses to sleep on his back.
Sarah, Ari could be having a growth spurt again.
ahh I better go cos my little man is DEMANDING mummy's booby NOW!! lol...
hugs n kisses to all and hope everyone is doing well... lotsa love from us :)
Sarah – I have just started loosing hair too. It is everywhere! How cute that Ari is laughing now. The girls are always trying to get Nic to laugh, but he seems pretty choosy at this stage!
Bec – Yucko at getting up at 5am! I don’t do early morning too well, especially in the cold weather! Good luck with Sebastian sleeping in his cot!
Caro – I have been reading about the Amby Hammocks. I was thinking about hiring one for a few months, but Nic seems to be sleeping really well at the moment. Let me know how Michael likes his when you get it.
Rachel – sounds like the trip went really well. Grace sounds like an angel.
Cass – I have booked an appointment for Saturday so DH can have the kids. He gave me a voucher for a splurge for my birthday (in March) so I will use that and go all out with a colour and cut etc etc. We have a birthday dinner coming up for a friend, so will be our first night out without Nic. Also, my ex husband and his wife will be there, so I think I should try to look a bit human for the night!
As for us, not a whole lot going on. Nic has been sleeping really well the last two days. He had a 2 hour sleep yesterday morning, then 1 ½ in the afternoon, both in his cot, then a short nap in my arms late in the afternoon. He is still going really well at night, only waking at 3am for a feed. I am really enjoying mother’s group. It is great to meet other mums in the area that have babies the same age.
Have just signed off on a quote to have some renovations done to our house and backyard. Very exciting as we are knocking out a wall and putting in french doors and a deck off the side of the house. I have gone a bit Mediterranean in our backyard, and have planted olives trees, lemons and lavenders all around our paving. I bought 3 huge half wine barrels to go on our paving, they look great! I will put some new pics on the website tomorrow. Hope everyone else is going well.
Take care everyone
Caro, gosh i hear you on the two hourly feeds... Claires been doing it too. Supposedly a growth spurt - i hope it passes soon. She fed for a whole hour for one of her feeds today, though i think half of it was just for comfort. but woohoo about Michael putting on weight now, thats great news.
Rachel, good to hear you had a good trip to adeliade, and wow at how good little Grace was for the trip. I'm very impressed. She obviously likes to be in the car then?
Richelle, woohoo on Kailee rolling, how exciting. Claires only just strated rolling from belly to back but DH is yet to see - she only does it when he is not around for some reason the cheeky monkey!
Jomarie, yay on the renos, how very exciting! I'm hopefully getting a new ceiling cos its had water damage (I live in a unit, and honestly, can't people fix their damn toilets!!) though thats nowhere near as exciting as new french doors and a deck.
woohoo I got my Grobag today. Ordered it on tuesday and it arrived today - very quick service so I am impressed. We got the pirate one because Claire does this one eye thing and we reckon she looks like a pirate whenshe does it.. Claire is in it now. Its great, she loves to kick her legs and move them up and down so she always ends up with no wrap and gets cold at night with icy fingers. She cant kick the bag off so hopefully she wont get cold. and Caro, I agree.. their dressing guides are silly - she'll freeze if I just dress her in a short sleeved suit like they recommend for my nursery temp!
ooh and we got given a new digital camera for our bday (DH was a couple weeks ago and mine is next week) so that means I can take even MORE pictures of Claire. It even has "baby mode" whatever that is!
gosh look at the time, i really need to sleep. Where does the time go!!!
Karina- yay on getting the grobag. have to look into them as grace has also worked out how to unwrap herself. have fun with your digital camera. Yep, grace loves the car.
JoMarie- Have to agree, grace is an angel.nothing to complain about really. enjoy getting your hair done, it is amazing how much better you feel after. your backyard sounds great...you've been a busy woman. I also really enjoy mother's group. yay on the good sleeps. we're still working on being in the cot during the day.
Had grace weighed today - 5.75kg. I was surprised, i seriously thought she would have gained more than that. going to try and put her into cot now. wish me luck!
Jo, yay for your hair appointment! Enjoy it honey :) Oooh I wanna see your garden, sounds divine. I have planned what I want to do in two areas of my backyard but it's going to have to wait until probably around the end of August cos it is getting too cold now to plant the plants I think... will check that with the nursery though cos I really want to do it so it looks all pretty.
I was going to get a grobag for Oskar but was told by the sales lady that if he's happy still being wrapped then stick with it and don't mess with it...lol..makes sense, I am just more concerned about if I have him warm enough or is he too hot etc and it's so hard to tell these things!
Rachel, how did Grace go in her cot??
Oskar is having a grizzle right now, he's watching the footy with his dad but doesn't sound too impressed so I better go and check the situation..lol.
Hi Cass - Grace has been in her cot since day dot...think you may be thinking of Bec and Sebastian who was having his first night in cot the other day!
Forgot to mention....my little girl is 3 months old today!!! Can't believe 3 months ago we were just meeting our little lady and now she is fully a part of the family.
My parents just left. I love having them over for dinner but I think tonight was more tiring than usual as I had to settle Grace, bath her, dress her, get her to sleep, cook dinner and clean up! Usually mum would help but Grace got a wee bit upset when she held her again - I have a theory that it may be my mums perfume. My mum wears a lot of perfume - it makes me feel sick as it is that flowery perfume which I can't stand. No-one else I know wears perfume like my mum and since having Grace I only wear a littl bit and only on my wrists not around my neck anymore, so I'm thinking maybe that is why she gets upset - probably because she can't breath through the sickly smell!! I mentioned it to my mum who thought it was a possibility, we shall see if she remembers for next time.
I'm pooped...off to bed I go. Goodnight ladies..
Hello, Ari had her 3 mth check up today she is 6.664 kg now so a real little porker and is snuggled up in her cot under three blankets as it has been cold and rainy here for three days and I refuse to buy anymore winter clothes when apparently it will be hot again tomorrow. Oh and sold over $200 of nappies today -so excited
rachel - wow on the travelling that is awesome.
Caro - hope michael is feeling better - lucky you ari feeds every two hours most of the time :-)
Karina - how cute about the pirate thing, can't wait to see all the photos you are going to take.
Jo Marie - wow on the house it must look amazing. I am so jealous! We really miss our beautiful house in Mount Isa that we renovated ourselves:-(
Cass - yeah I didn't think of a growth spurt. I gave her some bonjela today and she went to sleep instantly ad (touch wood) hasn't woken up again.
Speaking of which better go get some sleep before she wakes up
Sarah - WOW, 6.664kgs!!! Congratulations - it sounds like your business is taking off. Sleep well...I'm off to the land of nod too.
Also, SArah, was wondering about postage costs to Victoria for your nappies. Ta.
Rachel, yay on Graces weight gain - Claire's only just 5kg now. I like the grobag - because she cant get out of it so she doesnt get so cold in the middle of the night any more. Thats really the main reason I got it!
Cass, how cute about Oskar watching footy. get them in young hey. Claire loves the TV. I know i probably shouldnt let her watch it, but when she is so unsettled and theres nothing else I can do, I let her watch it and she then settles and falls asleep.
Sarah, yay on Ari's checkup going well and thats awesome about all the nappies you sold today, well done! IS she teething already? DH though Claire may be teething because she has been so cranky, drooling everywhere and trying to get everything in her mouth. We did have some bonjela in the cupboard a couple months ago but its gone now and I'm too scared to go out right now incase a tree falls on me haha.
omg, the weather has been shocking here! I seriously thought my windows were going to smash in yesterday and I am very suprised that our big tree is still standing - it was really swaying heaps in the wind. It was so bad I couldnt even go outside. Mum is on holiday somewhere in woopwoop and has asked me to go over to her house if the weather gets better, and just check the house is ok. I think I am going to find a very flooded house!
hope everyone is well
btw Cass i love the picture of Oskar in your ticker - how cute!!
Rachel, it could've been, I get so mixed up at times cos I'll be skimming through cos Oskar decides to wake up when I turn the comp on!!! lol. Awww they grow so fast!
Sarah, I must've sent some cold weather up in the parcel.. lol. Wow she's getting all grown up! I'm not sure what Oskar is at the moment, I'd say somewhere between 5 1/2 & 6 kgs at a guess.
Karina, I just have to make sure Andy doesn't get him barracking for the Bulldogs!! I prop him in front of the tv sometimes just so I can run to the loo or have my brekky. Thanks about his pic :) I love it, it was only the other day and it was really cold and he looked so handsome all rugged up I tiik heaps of pics. I hope the weather gets better, looks pretty full on on the news!!
Caro - reflux does suck, I know what you mean. Is Michael not getting any better?I would really recommend trying the losec again and staying on it a bit longer this time. It took almost 2 weeks to see any really dramatic change in Nicholas, but now he is going really well on it.
Hi everyone else, sorry, don't have much time, but wanted to say I have put some more pics on our website. Have a great weekend!
xx
Wow, it is 8:20pm and both kids are asleep (touchwood) Had such an exciting day today my DS FINALLY swam with his head under the water without any tears!!!! i am so excited I could do a little dance, (in fact I think I did at the pool) History : we have been doing swimming since he was 9mths old and somewhere around 18mth he developed this thing with not wanting to put his head under - not fear just plain didn't want to. Well it has taken 2 years and many many bribes and finally he has done it!
Ari has been an angle today and has just cut the tops of her little teeth through on the bottom sides (strange like her brother cuts the side teeth first and then the front - I know weird) But they aren't fully through yet so i wouldn't be surprised if they pop back down again :-( Anyway my darling red checked little princess has been such a trooper.
Rachel - pstage is the same anywhere in Australia depends on how much you buy for one to three nappies $5.00, $3.00 for just inserts or something very small, $8.00 if your getting about 3-5 nappies and 12.00 if you buy the whole kit and kaboodle. there is sooo much I have to put up on my site _ I have sooo much stock arriving in the next 3 days but I am having this weekend off to clean the house and be a mummy again, have been a bit caught up in the excitment and the house is def showing it :-)
Ozzy - Thank you so much for those little leggings you sent up in the parcel they are just perfect!
Karina - oh that weather souns yucky, hope everythng is alright at yopur mums. As for teething we found out with DS teething can start very early, some babes even cut teeth in the first few weeks (even heard a rumour of before birth but I don't know about that) The other hard thing about teething is they can have the symptoms for ages without any teeth showing up and it is so hard to tell if it is teething or if they are just off sometimes. DS started teething at 1 mth, red checks swollen gums itchy mouth etc but didn't cut his first tooth until he was 7mths. after that he used to yet vomitting and diahorrea everytime he cut a tooth. absolutely horrid! The bonjela is doing the trick for ari at the moment esp to help her sleep.
caro - sorry the reflux must be hard to deal with, hope you see some improvement soon
Hey anyone else bub get sweaty feet??? ari's are terrible, to the point where they are wet to touch we thought somehow she was weeing on them or that DS was dripping drinlk on her but no it's just sweaty feet - weird kids I have
Sarah, YES Claires feet are so sweaty and a bit stinky too sometimes lol. hmm i am not sure if Claire is teething, probably not, but I cant see as she wont let me look in her mouth haha. mums house is ok, not too much damage. but she really does need to get her windows fixed so this doesnt happen everytime it rains! woohoo on Xanders swimming achievement!
Sarah - YAY on DS's achievement, you must be very proud. I can't believe how early teething can start! Grace is drooling a lot lately and always sucking or munching on something (usually her hands), but she doesn't have red cheeks or seem to be very bothered so not sure if it is her teeth or whether she is just exploring her hands and making a big drool mess at the same time! Only time will tell I suppose. Thanks for the info on the postage - will definitely be ordering some stuff very soon - interested in the haute's pockets. Grace's feet aren't sweaty.
Karina - your weather sounds nasty. Glad to hear your mum's house is ok.
Grace is nicely asleep so I'm thinking I should probably head that way too. So much for my 'i'm not going anywhere this weekend'! Was just going to pop over to my sister's this morning as they got a new kitten (a ragdoll which is just adorable but it cost them $550!!!!). It turned into an all day thing, I am pooped! Such a duffa. just realised I forgot to hang out the washing - oops - oh well i'll do it in the morning. I believe tomorrow is going to be nice here again. We have had gorgeous days but freezing nights. Poor DH was working last night and he said it was freezing.
Oh well...goodnight...
Caro - I didn't realise you had Michael back on losec. I have been trying to keep up with all the posts, but am falling behind! I really hope you get some relief soon :hugs:. Is Michael still in pain with it? Nic seems to be doing well, no more pain, but still a LOT of spewing! Sometimes it seems like his whole feed, but the CHN assures me it isn't and he seems to be steadily putting on weight. Did you want to arrange a catch up in the next couple of weeks?
Cass - I got my hair done this morning. You are right, it does make a world of difference to how you feel! I feel great! So great, in fact, that I just HAD to buy a new top to go with my new haircut!
So far, so good with Nicholas sleeping during the day. He is still going great. I am home alone tonight, well, with Jas and Nicholas as DH is out. I have been checking out all the units I have left to complete my degree, which I have been doing FOREVER! I think I will do one unit this semester, but do it externally so I don't have to worry about finding someone to look after Nic while I am in class. I am almost finished, only 7 more units to do.
Jo - Yay on the nice new doo and of course you HAD to buy a top! What degree are you doing?
Well...what a night! I was in bed by 10.30pm which is really good for me and I thought 'ripper...a good nights sleep here I come'. Well, this was not to be and it was by no means Grace's fault either. Firstly, at approximately 12.35am a very noisy hoon car was racing down the street which woke me up and also Grace....popped dummy back in and she drifted back off to sleep. At approx 1.45am I was woken by a massive noise which turned out to be the police helicopter attending to an accident down the road (which my DH was also at so that is how I know that's what it was) - It was so loud I thought it was landing on the house (I'm talking so loud the house vibrated)! This also woke Grace...popped dummy back in...back to sleep. Then at 2.45am Grace woke again when the helicopter took back off...dummy back in...asleep. Then she woke again at 3.30am (which I thought would be for her feed)...dummy back in while I went to the toilet...went back in she was asleep. She then woke at 4.30 for feed, finally got to have some decent sleep from 5.30am then DH gets home from work at 7.30am so I wake and then Grace wakes at 8.45am for feed...so I'm up! Needless to say I feel pretty crappy after that night! Lets hope for a better one tonight. It was also absolutely freezing last night. Now I'm trying to get Grace to sleep in her cot and I'm not having much luck!!!
Rachel, omg how terrible that you got woken up so many times, and after such a long day too. Hope you get some decent sleep tonight. The other day Claire wouldnt sleep in her cot so I lay down with her in my bed and she fell asleep almost straight away.
Jomarie, woohoo on having your hair done, I bet that feels great. My hair is so feral at the moment - whats left of it - I feel like I am going bald. I'd love to just go and have my hair cut and have someone do one of those conditioning treatments. I think I am going to go book that!
Well yay, its stopped pouring with rain so now I can actually go outside for a walk! I've missed my walks over the last few days. Its not sunny, and it is quite cold, but at least its not raining now. DH has been out so much this week which has been hard especially when Claire is unhappy and wont settle. The only night I've actually seen him was thursday night, and I saw him for about an hour yesterday and he left the house before I woke up today. He's working with SES and they have lots to do with the storm and all that.
Karina - me too! Grace sleeps fine in my arms during the day..just not her cot..not very practical. Hope you get your DH back soon...DH used to be a CFA volunteer so i know how you feel.
Caro - my DH is an ambo. They grow so quick don't they!
Happy Sunday, everyone. Hope you're all going well.
Rachel, what an awful night's sleep - hope tonight's is better! Ragdoll cats are expensive, aren't they? But very cute.
Karina, glad to hear your mum's house is OK. The weather over there sounds terrible, I was listening on the radio to some of the reports. Scarey, hope it's settled down for you all now.
Sarah, I've been going to your site a bit and it's looking better everytime I go! I've decided to hold off on buying anymore clothies before I go back to work. He will be in sposies at day care and it's getting harder to dry them so once I finish work and I'm at home more I'll buy some from you then. I'd like him to be in cloth fulltime pretty much and have huggies as backup, so I'll need to get a few! Congratulations to Xander on the swimming!
Jo, good news on the haircut! I'm ringing up to book tomorrow. I'm going to do it when DH comes home from work so may not actually get there until Friday, oh well. Had a look at your site, what a gorgeous family you make!
Caro, Michael has put on lots of weight, you must be proud! Especially after all your hard work :-)
Well, the cot is a big hit! The first night Sebastian slept THROUGH THE NIGHT!! It was amazing. I felt so energetic and just fantastic the next day! Needless to say it hasn't happened since, but still!
I wonder if he is starting to teethe (sp?) as he is also getting rosier cheeks than usual and is chewing on his hands a lot. I've got out a teething ring and he seems a little interested in it, but not really. Right now he's fascinated with his left hand. He sticks his arm straight out in front of him and stares at his fist - it's hilarious. He's getting such a strong neck too, really amazing how far he can lift it off the floor. He wasn't one of those babies who was really strong at birth, so it's great to see he's getting some muscles!
Well, it's a sunny day so hopefully I can get some more washing dry. We have a house inspection on Tuesday so I'm going to be cleaning most of the day as well - yuck!
Jo, I tried to see your pics but the link won't work :( Oooh I'm so glad you feel wonderful!! lol @ HAVING to buy a new top ;) I bought a new top a couple of weeks ago and felt sooooo divine wearing it too cos it was new and the first new thing I'd bought for me and worn since Oskar was born so it felt so lovely!
I did put some new ones of Oskar on the website too... can't remember if I mentioned this yet or not??
Sarah, I noticed the other day Oskar's feet felt a bit sweaty too!! I thought I had a strange child..lol. It's great to hear that Ari is getting some use out of the package!! Yay on Xander's great swimming acheivement! He might be the next Thorpy!!
Rachel, I hate it when outside things wake me up and disturb Oskar. Makes me feel really cranky!! We have a Ragdoll and he's sooo naughty that lately he's been getting locked in the laundry sometime during the night. He claws the carpet and the draws and well any wooden furniture lately!!
Caro, Oskar is doing great. Waking a little earlier last few mornings though, not sure if he's having a growth spurt or what's going on there. He only uses his hammock in the night as he doesn't seem to like to sleep on his back during the day, very strange little man. We still have him in our room cos I am not ready for him to be on his own yet, I like having him next to me.
Karina, did you get a lot of rain where you live? It looked pretty nasty on the tv in some areas, particularly Newcastle!
Bec, yay for sleeping through in the cot!! Hopefully it will happen every night very soon.
Well, Caro, I left Oskar for about 10 mins a bit earlier so I could go and get the paper!! Never done it before either, but you know as much as I love him and love being his mummy, it was so nice to just duck up the road on my own. It's the first time I've been COMPLETELY on my own in 11 weeks! Now, I just have to get Andy inside to take him for a little while... *sighs*... I need 5 mins!! I better go he's not a very happy little man atm.
Cass, yes we got heaps of rain. almost 120mm in one day according to the BOM. The laundry has water a cm or two deep, but no big deal as the floor is cement in there. Newcastle had soo much rain as did the hunter valley and they are evacuating one of the towns up there (i think maitland?) because the river has flooded heaps. Very scary. DH's family live up there and we've been in contact and they are ok, just without power for a little while! Gosh I hope my aunty is ok, she also lives in Newcastle. Unfortunately I will probably be losing DH for a few days as he is with SES and they need to send people from Sydney up to Newcastle for the rest of the week and he will probably be going :( which is sucky but he asked me if it was ok and I felt bad saying no, even though I dont want him to go, kwim, but I told him to go anyway. he better be back in time for my birthday!!!
Jo I also cant see your pics. It tells me I dont have access and it doesnt give me the chance to put in the password.
well I also put more photos of Claire on my picture website, taken with spunky new camera heheh. Ive just looked through all my pictures and I think Claire has really grown into her head.
Bec, woohoo on having a full night of sleep! We've only had a couple of nights like that. They say it will happen eventually - i hope it hurries up!
Oooh Caro hope you didnt miss little Michael too much when you went out. I missed Claire so much the first I went out with out her :( did you get your spunky new vacuum cleaner?
Karina, I do know what you mean, I wouldn't want Andy to go either but you also feel bad and can't say no when they're helping people huh. He better be back for your birthday!! When is it? Claire is getting more and more beautiful!! What a little darling :)
Forgot to mention Oskar had conjunctivitis which appeared on Saturday and of course no doctors were open!! I called my friend and she said wipe his eyes with warm salty water (with cotton ball) and then use breast milk in his eyes... and what do you know it's gone now!! Was fun trying to squirt breastmilk in his eyes though... PMSL :cryinglaugh: he had it all over his face!! Looked so adorable and he'd be smacking his lips cos it was dripping down. So, anyway, there you go a home remedy and apparently you can use cows milk (which I will if he gets this when he's older).
Caro – Nic is on 1ml, twice a day. I get the suspension from SJOG in Subiaco. It is about $30 for 100ml and then I have to get rid of whatever is left after 1 month. I am going to Padbury Pharmacy this week to get that other mix you suggested. A decrease in the amount of spewing would be fantastic! I run out of clothes, and so does Nicholas! WTG on heading out without Michael! It is a big step. What is the stick vax? I have an Electrolux cleaner and it’s great. I would be happy to come out and visit you at home. Ellenbrook is not that far away from here. Maybe next week?
Rachel – I am doing a Bachelor of Social Science, a Welfare and Community studies major and Psychology minor. I have been studying part time since Jas was about 1 (she’s nearly 7!!). What a night! I really think it is so much worse having a broken sleep as opposed to not a lot of sleep. As it is getting so cold here now, we usually have the girls in our bed at least once a night each, sometimes twice. They wake up as they have kicked their rugs off so think they will come up and hop in with us. I love this usually, but as I also have to get up to Nic once a night, I am too tired to keep getting up with the girls. We now take them back to their own beds instead!
Karina – I would highly recommend having your hair done. It makes you feel somewhat “normal” again! It must be hard without your hubby home a lot, mine works at home, so he is ALWAYS around! Not always a good thing though! The pics of Claire are gorgeous! She has such a huge smile, it lights up her whole face!
Bec – Thanks! WTG on Sebastian’s sleep through the night in his cot! Nic prefers his cot to sleeping anywhere else. He won’t sleep with me at all. He just likes to be wrapped up and put down usually. Sometimes, one full night’s sleep can be enough to keep you going for quite a while can’t it? I can just picture S with his arm out in front. Nic does that too, he looks like Superman!
Cass – The pics of Oskar are so cute! His smile is just gorgeous. I think breast milk can be used for a lot of things like that can’t it? It must be due to the antibodies on the milk. Very cool though not having to use any other kind of medication. I can still express milk, even though I haven’t fed Nic since 7 weeks now, so maybe I should freeze some for future medical emergencies!!
For those who can’t see the website, go to “sign in”, at the top right hand side of the page, then hover your mouse over where is says keytandjo@iinet.net.au and click sign in and it will let you enter the password. I decided to put a password on as I got a strange email from a Chinese guy and I wasn’t happy with anyone being able to view the pictures of my family.
Hi to everyone else!
Sounds great Caro! Monday it is then. What time shall I come out? And what is your address??
Bec - Yay on a succesful night in the cot, how has it gone since? It is absolutely devine watching them learn bits and pieces of themselves isn't it. At the moment Grace has become very vocal again and she just sits there saying different sounds over and over - it is so cute!
Caro - well done on leaving michael. A big step but it is definitely something that I think we need to do for our own sanity, iykwim.
Cass - firstly, Oskar is gorgeous! What beautiful photo's. I won't be telling my sister about your cats antics - she would freak out! I so agree about needing time out every now and then. We have left Grace with my parents a couple of times now and i have left Grace with DH for the afternoon which was great, but now my mum keeps wanting to watch her and begging for us to leave her - I really appreciate the times she looks after her but if I can take Grace with me wherever I am going I would rather do that - I don't want to leave her all the time - iykwim (for example we were going shopping today, it was easier for me to take Grace, but my mother begged me to watch her, I took her shopping and she was fine). Wow, who would've thought breast milk was so useful! Did you get a photo of Oskar with milk all over his face? That would be cute.
Jo - also have to say that Nic is just gorgeous - you have some beautiful photo's. Wow, what a degree you are doing. Well done for sticking with it.
Karina - Claire is so big now! She too is just gorgeous, it is hard to believe that they could get cuter and cuter but they just do!
Went and got this cute outfit for my friends son that was born last week. It was strange looking at boys clothes!
Starting to have a bit of a freak out! DH and I dtd last week with no protection and now I am a wee bit worried about it (DH too!). I'd like to think that we couldn't be that unlucky to fall pregnant the only time we have unprotected sex since having Grace when AF hasn't even returned yet...could we?! Because AF hasn't come, I don't really have anything to wait for so we have decided we will test in a few weeks but I seriously seriously hope that is comes back with a BFN!!! I can't get pregnancy again so soon - what a disaster. I don't want to sound horrible but I do not want 2 children under the age of 1. I am enjoying Grace too much PLUS I don't think I could cope being pregnant again yet let alone being pregnant through summer again. I am sure that everything will be fine (how unlucky could we be), but it has freaked us out a wee bit. Needless to say we are not venturing down that path without contraception again. What a nightmare!!!
Hope everyone is well...
Caro - You sound really excited! I know you can't really get the tone in writing, but just the way you are writing seems really excitable! Let me warn you....I am really not that exciting!! LMAO!! What happened on the weekend????? Yes, email me with your address! I can't wait to meet Courtney! I remember what Jas was like at that age. Oh, and I can't wait to meet Michael too of course! Yes, I will have Nic with me.
Rachel - Um ah!!! I had the same thoughts a few weeks ago and completely freaked out! I am actually getting an IUD out in (sorry if TMI!!) tomorrow which is supposed to last 5 years and be 99% effective. If we do decide to have another baby, I can have it taken out, but in the mean time I think it is a lot more reliable than remembering to take the pill! Keep us informed won't you???!!!
Jo, I will keep you informed but I really hope that there is nothing to inform!!
Cass, my bday is on thursday; I'll be 23! Breastmilk is pretty handy stuff isnt it!
Jo, thanks, i think Claire is pretty gorgeous too (mother bias!) I finally worked out how to view your photos (me = slow! ) Nics sooo cute - what a gorgeous smile!
Caro, yay that your outing with Michael went well!
Rachel, omg i think I would also freak if I thought I was pregnant again. I mean, I want to have more babies, but just not so soon! And no, you dont sound mean for not wanting 2 under 1!
Well i spent half the day out at a friends house today as DH is away until wednesday or thursday to help with the flood cleanups up north. It was nice to not have to spend the day on my own, plus I really hate just cooking for myself only kwim? I'm going there again tomorrow for dinner too. Silly me, I got so confused and a little bit lost coming home - i ended up in the middle of olympic park and couldnt get out and had to back track. Lucky i had my trusty UBD book in the car lol. Claire just slept the whole time in the car totally unaware of how I was lost hehe. I am hoping she sleeps well tonight. She didnt sleep much today - she kept waking up after 15 minutes. She si still waking up very soon after going to sleep so I think its going to be a long night.
Karina, thanks. I don't actually think I am pregnant, as in I don't have any signs, but it was only a week and a half ago that we dtd and I'm stupidly stewing over it. I should just relax and not worry, can't do anything about it right now anyway! DH and I have decided that if this unfotunate thing has happened that he would definitely get the snip afterwards because that would make me one very fertile bunny (DD was conceived in the one and only unprotected moment also)!
hi everyone
finally back online after all the rain and storms and almost 3 days without power. Thank goodness that we didn't cop it too badly here compared to the rest of the Central Coast! But I live right on the Hawkesbury River and at times could see cupboards etc floating upstream. It wasn't too fun trying to heat Kailee's bottles on the gas cooker the first couple of tries, took me a little while (and a lot of screaming from her) to get it worked out! But in any case its all better now. Just have to catch up on the mountain load of washing.
Well Kailee has now laughed twice, its just so adorable. She is doing something new and different every day it is just so fun to be around her. Her hands are the tastiest treats at the moment, she has discovered that she can pick up toys and eat them... most of all, she discovered what toys are. And now we have this Lamaze sensory cube thing she was given that goes every where with us.
Is anyone else finding that their bubs are getting a bit fussier with where they sleep?
Kailee doesn't sleep properly anywhere other than her bed, she will sleep but wakes after a short time. Maybe its just her?
Jo, still can't get to look at your pics :( Thanks to you and Rachel for your lovely words about my little man. He's gonna wrap people around his little finger I think!!
Rachel, fingers crossed for you honey!! I think I feel the same ... I don't think I could cope with being pg and having a little baby to look after firstly and secondly then having 2 so young!! Maybe our cat is just a naughty boy! I didn't get a pic of Oskar with milk all over his face, I wanted to but Andy said that would be mean .... what a bully!! rofl. Maybe I should just do it again and take a pic while he's at work! ;) I know what you mean about leaving them... I haven't actually left him with anyone else other day Andy for that short time the other day.
Karina, I will say happy birthday to you now cos otherwise I'll forget and feel terrible!! I hope you have a great day and get some great pressies too!! I mean after all that's why we have a birthday right??? haha.
Richelle, welcome back!!! Glad to hear you're ok. Oskar likes to sleep on the lounge during the day, but I won't be able to do that much longer cos he'll start rolling around!! He likes to suck on his hands too and also likes to hold a cloth nappy and lick it and feel it, must like the texture... weird child!! Cute though.
BM does seem to be good for more than just filling the bellies of our little bundles huh!! I went shopping today and bought me a new food processor!! We had one which had a blender as well but when we moved last year somewhere along the line these went missing and I was most upset as I'd only had them less than a year!! So I got a really cool one now... even better...lol... has everything, food processor, juicer, blender and more!! I knew I was getting older when I started getting excited about these things... *sighs* ...pmsl :cryinglaugh:
Richelle, good to hear you didnt have damage to your place. I really feel for those who have lost alot. Claire is also fussy with where she sleeps, and has just started being this way in the last week or so. Its really annoying! She slept in bed with me last night because in her own be she woud wake up every 15 minutes and then it would take half an hour for me to get her to go to sleep again! But DH has not been here, so that might be the reason, not sure! Claire loves licking things too and always has a huge slobber patch on the front of her clothes.
Cass yay on the food processor! heheh i got a blender and it was very exciting because it meant i can now make milk shakes!!! but unfortunately, I have already broken it. thanx for the birthday wishes.
Gosh it is absolutely freezing here today. I have the heater on and a blanket around me. Claire is rugged up and asleep. I am supposed to go to the library to take back my book I borrowed but I dont want to go outside - its too cold!
Welcome back Richelle, glad to hear you are ok. Grace always has her hands in her mouth. Sometimes she will grab her bib or clothes or whatever is in front of her and shove that in her mouth too!
Thanks Cass. Yay on the new food processor. I have a fancy food processor and I think I could count on one hand the amount of times I have used it.
Karina Claire may sense that daddy isn't home and that is why she is a bit unsettled. Grace is better now, but she used to be very unsettled on the days and nights when DH was at work. I know what you mean about the cold weather - it is going to be 13 degrees here tomorrow!!
Went and visited our friends that had a little boy last week. He is a bit of a cutey. So tiny - although funnily he is actually bigger and longer than what Grace was when she was born - how quickly you forget! Had to laugh, we ended up doing quite well out of the visit and came home with 2 massive bags full of clothes for Grace to use (they also have a 2 year old girl) as they won't be needing it anytime soon. Sizes range from 000 to 1 - so we will be sorted for clothing for a while. She had a 2 hour labour and her son was born in 2 pushes. Her DH missed the actual birth which occured in emergency while he parked the car it happened that fast. They said they sat there for 2 hours after it in shock! lol!
Grace is becoming so vocal again. This morning at about 4.30am, after her feed when she was sitting on my shoulder for her burps, she decided it was time to talk to winnie the pooh on her curtains - it was so cute. Makes it so much easier being up at weird times huh.
Must go and express...DH gave Grace a bottle of EBM for her last feed so need to empty myself otherwise I will wake at some ungodly hour bursting. Have a good night.
Long time no chat, been busy trying to get this website up it has just frozen on me again - grrrr. Well Ari can now roll both ways and is slowly rolling across the lounge room floor after her brother - mind you it takes her half an hour and by then he has moved :-) She has also discovered how to squeel - very loudly! and she thinks the attention is fantastic. It is going to be a very loud trip to brissie next week.
Rachel - will be thinking of you with your pg scare. It's funny how I was dreading being pg and then when it was negative I was actually a little disappointed. I am really struggling with not having anymore babies :-( I hope you gt the answer you are after. OMG about your friend - quick labour and how cute about Grace and her curtains :-)
Richelle _ OMG on your ordeal with the floods. Glad to hear you didn't have too much damage. As for sleeping Ari doesn't sleep anywhere but yes she sleeps even worse when her brother is around. She is a very light sleeper.
Karina - Happy b'day for thurs! Ari is sleeping like that at the moment too - only 15 min at a time, hope they both grow out of it soon.
Cass - nice food processor perfect for solids in a few months
Rachel yay on the stack of girls clothes from your friend. Thats very handy. Congrats to your friend and wow on the two hour labour. How cute that Grace talks to her curtains. They do such cute things dont they!
Sarah well done to Ari on her rolling. Claire is able to roll from her tummy to her back, but not from back to tummy. She is trying, but just isnt there yet!
Just got a call from DH and he says he'll probably be home tomorrow night but isnt sure yet HOW he will be getting home. I want him home so I am happy to drive up to pick him up from wherever he is at! I've been spending the last few evenings with my friends and having dinner with them. Claire has been so unsettled - Rachel i thnk youre right, maybe she knows her daddy is away. Just being on my own for these last few days, I've been thinking about how hard it must be to be a single mum :(
