I'm number one, I'm number one... *does a little dance*... PMSL... man I need to get out more!! ahahah
Sarah, OMG @ Ari... that's soooo great! How did she go after you posted? Maybe she was just getting too hungry huh! Did she like solids? What did you give her?
Cass, Izzy is SOOO adorable. I just love the pics of her!
Oskar has been dubbed the "happy" one at our little mums n bubs group...lol... cos he just loves chatting to everyone and has a huge grin on his face. I'm contemplating the solids thing as he's been waking early in the morning for about the past week.... so I'm not sure if he's just hungry or a bit chilly cos it's usually around 5am....??? Any thoughts? I'm wanting to wait as long as possible before starting him on solids. I'm actually nowhere near organised enough for solids yet...lol. Ok.... drum roll.... I GOT MY HAIR CUT OFF!! I've been thinking about it for a couple of weeks and yesterday just went.... ok let's just do it!
Just adding some new pics of Oskar to the site as well. He's getting such little tree trunk thighs... I love that, so cute and cuddly!!!
Cassblob, your photos looks great! I reckon Izzy looks so much like you.
Cass, Hoe cute how Oskar chats away to everyone at mothers group! Sorry, I havent really got any great ideas to get Oskar to sleep longer. Claire still wakes 2 - 3 hourly overnight and wants to play at 6am!
Went out last night to meet some of the BellyBelly girls from Sydney. It was really nice actually, but we had a group of about 20 or so, so I didnt really get to talk to lots of people - just mainly the people sitting near me. I was out for about 5-6 hours!!! Thats really long outing for me and the longest I have been away from Claire ever. She styed at home with hubby and apparently she was really good and hardly cranky at all!
We went out yesterday and walked into the early learning shop nd they had so many cool toys for babies. We got one off the shelf nd Claire reached out nd grabbed it with a huge grin on her face. We just couldnt resist it so we bought the toy for her.. It is an octopus with rattly bits nd bits to chew on and it makes noise though so I might regret that later on when she works out how to swicth it on by herself.
hehe Karina - at least it has a switch. DS has this snail that sings a really annoying song and there is no off switch AND 4 yrs down the track it is still working - talk about batteries that just keep going. woohoo on Claire being good for her daddy. I bet it was nice to catch up with bellybelly people!
Cass _ wow on getting your hair cut, you'll have to post some pics. BTW I couldn't see Oskars pics :-( we cosleep in the morning as I find Ari gets really cold too. I wanted to hold off on solids for a bit longer too, so not ready for my baby girl to be eating food :-( In fact I feel really disappointed that my milk isn't enough for her, never had that with DS. I am going to try and rest up a bit more and look after myself, I don't want her droppin any feeds just yet although she loves solids :-( so I suppose not much I can do
I posted a little while ago about a march babies meet up around march next year but got no response. Would anyone be interested???? Where are most people - Sydney? Perth? Is there a midway point? I know flights to syd and mel from here are fairly reasonable??
Oh BTW Ari woke once before 3am and settled quite easily and tonight has woken twice so far which is a HUGE improvement. We are also re-reading NCSS which I LOVE!!! Forgot what a brilliant book that is. Gotta go having an early night
Karina, that's a huge outing without Claire!! Well done to you! I am sooooooo NOT ready to leave Oskar for that long...lol...I'd be thinking oh I hope Andy's ok settling him etc...hehe. Maybe part of me feeling like this though is that I'm really not sure if we'll have another bubba so I guess I'm kinda treating him like my last and wanting him to slow down so I can relish every second. Ooooh @ octopus... I think I have seen the one you mean... if so they are SOOOOO SOOOOO cool!! Oskar liked it as well but I put it back on the shelf quite fast...lol...cos yup I've also been trapped and bought something cos he likes it so much. Hey, we're allowed, we're the mummy's and daddy's and we like to see them smile
Sarah, that's soooo great Ari is sleeping better for you honey. I bet you feel so much better too! I wouldn't say your milk isn't enough for her, maybe she just needs something extra sooner than Xander did. Don't forget they are all different Good thing that too cos Joshua is going to get himself into some serious trouble one day soon *sighs* teenagers man! lol.
I gave Oskar a dream feed last night at around 10... was so funny. Andy goes, but won't he choke cos he's asleep, I said nah he'll be right. Well, I pick him up and as soon as my nipple touched his lip... he was like a fish going at bait... LATCH and wouldn't let go! He slept through till almost 6 - around an hour longer, so maybe he's just hungrier at the moment. Oh and before I forget again... I picked up this great book the other day (on sale too!!) called Children are from Heaven, it's written by the same guy who wrote Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. I haven't read too much of it yet, but what I have read is great! It's about parenting and alternatives to spanking, yelling etc... and how boys need different things to girls etc and I've already learnt that I ask Joshua too many questions which is why he shuts down and doesn't talk... I was like... wow at least now I get it! lol. Anyway my little man is awake and I need cuddles
Cass, lol it ws such a long time but I had such a lovely night with the Bellybelly girls that I lost track of time anyway! The octopus is awesome and she loves it. We dont have that many toys for her, but we rotate them so if we put one away for a while then bring it back out its like a new toy for her because she forgets about it, hehehe. I dont know if we'll have more babies either I'd LOVE to have more babies though.
Sarah, hahah we have a singing snail too!!! No batteries in it though so it doesnt sing! We're in Sydney but i think I might be the only one. I know a couple are in other areas in NSW. Seems to be a few of you in QLD and Perth though!
Caro, Hope you are feeling better now. Michael looks so cute in his little christening outfit. The cake you made looks great, well done!
OHHH I am SOOO excited! I just bought my very first MCN. Yay!! I found a lady in Sydney who sells them (I wanted to look at it and touch it before buying). Its pink and very cute. Hubby will be cranky I think. When I told him I wanted MCN he goes "WTF do you want to do that for???" Oh well. Its only one so far, so I can try it out and if I like it and he wants to participate, then I'll get some more.

: adding in the A's cos my A button is broken, lol.
Hi girls. long time no speak. Have been so busy that I haven’t had time to write anything. Have been trying to keep up with everything though.
I’ll start with us. We are all good. Grace is getting bigger and bigger (and longer and longer!). She is rolling now so there’s a new challenge, trying to keep her on her back! She can’t roll from tummy to back yet though so she gets over, cracks it, so I roll her back and over we go again!
We started her on farex today. She absolutely loved it, she was so excited she was looking around for more, although we didn’t want to push it too much. She has been waking up a lot more recently just for a feed and then she goes back to sleep so we think that she is getting hungrier and hungrier. She has tried to steal my food a number of times recently and she stops dead in her tracks and watches anyone who is eating, so we decided to give it a go. Don’t want the poor girl to starve!! Lol. So, it went well thank goodness. Has anyone else started? I think I read that Izzy and ?Ari are on solids. Is there anyone else? This wasn’t a light hearted decision and I was so nervous but we think we are doing the right thing by her so that is the main thing. Plus, we are pretty close to 6 months. Has any of the other breast feeding mums noticed that their bubs poos consistency has changed? Grace’s are a bit thicker now, and have been since about 4 months…we think this may be her digestive system maturing as nothing has changed and this happened. So fingers crossed that the feeding goes well.
Off to sunny Gold Coast on Saturday…can’t wait! So need some warmer weather! Must start packing soon! Got some swimmer nappies for Grace…can’t wait to get her in the water, it’s gonna be so fun.
The little boy in Melbourne that died recently allegedly from the flu was in my suburb so that got everyone a bit concerned. The adult in Melbourne that died actually died from complications from another illness he developed while he had the flu, so I actually feel that maybe there was more going on with these people than just the flu, this has put my mind at ease.
Karina – good luck with MCN. Have to admit we haven’t used ours for ages, we found that she just wet through them so quickly and would then crack it as she hates being wet. Disappointed with this as disposables are so expensive.
Sarah – sounds like you’ve had a rough time with Ari lately. Glad she has settled a bit for you and fingers crossed that it continues. Would have to let you know a bit closer to the time regarding meet up, depends on finances etc. Jess and I are the only melbournites. There are 3 of you in QLD, one in NSW, one in SA, 2 in WA that’s just off the top of my head.
Welcome JenP, you sound like you have had a good run too.
Hello to everyone else, sorry I haven’t done personals but 10 days worth of your chatter is a lot to catch up on!!! Lol!! Take care and hopefully I will be back soon.
Rachel yay on Grace rolling! Ooooh thats great she loved the Farex. I actually just got back from Coles and I got some Farex while I was there. I think I was there for like half an hour looking at all the baby stuff, hehe. I dont really think Claires poos have changed. They are still mustardy. Oh thats one of the reasons why I bought a cloth nappy (i hope to buy some more if I decide I like the one I've got) The sposies are pretty exxy for the good ones. I did buy cheapo sposie ones but they were terrible and leaked after just a wee. Hope you have fun when you go to QLD!
ohhh have to go. Little miss is calling for me, lol.
Hi gals, well this morning I woke up so sore, my neck and right arm were so stiff OMG so off to the chiro and I can slightly turn my head now. Poor Dh has been trying to juggle children and housework as I'm not suppose to life anything for a few days including our 8kg+ DD. And to top it all off AF is here with a vengence - I just want to curl up and die.
Cass- oh have to have a look for that book, I love my raising boys book I always have to remind myself to slow down and speak in shorter sentences to DS (works on DH too :-)
Karina - woohoo on your first MCN! I got some beautiful blueberries the other day from the US, they would win DH over - so soft and funky. I find the MCN much better at pootainment and wee leakage than even huggies. Have fun shopping!
Rachel good to hear from you. We noticed Ari's poos changed a few weks ago into more solidish form without her having any solids. We gave ari some pumpkin about a month ago but she didn't settle well the next day (kept trying to poop) so we waited until 2 days ago. Ari relishes her food, sucks it straight off the spoon and OMG if someone eats in front of her! I have some cereal here but so far we have only given Ari vegetables (pumpkin and sweet potato)
Rachel - I started Nic on Farex last wednesday, and he is having some pear now too. He didn't think much of the cereal on its own,but loved it with the pear in it. I am going to try apple next I think. I can't remember how I did this with Jas, but do you just keep going with one food at a time, then start mixing them up together? How many meals a day etc? I must start a thread in the solids forum for some more advice on this!!
Caro - the pics from Michaels Christening are gorgeous! He is such a cutie! I love the dolls house too, very girly. I hope you get an offer on your house.
Sorry girls, I can't remember what everyone else has said now, but we are going ok for now. Having some issues (personal ones, nothing to do with Nic), but am getting help. One of the girls in our mother's group lost her mum to motor neuron disease last week. I just can not imagine what she must be going through. Aside from this, last week was pretty ordinary.
Sarah, i hope the chiro could help you out with your sore neck. Oooh I am totally obsessed with finding out as much info as I can about MCN so I am stalking the Cloth Nappy threads, pmsl! If I can win DH over with what I've got (its a pocket nappy) and if its good with the pootainment and wee soakage then I'll get more! possibly even LOTS! and when I'm more confident about what I'm getting I'll start buying them online too rather than trekking all the way to the actual shop. I havent got it yet but they're going to send it to me. I wanted pink but they didnt have it then and there in Claires size.
Jo, hope everything is ok.
Caro, I lost lots of hair too and its definately noticeably thinner than it was before. I was having to vacuum everyday, sometimes twice a day, to pick up all my hairs. I used to only be able to get hair eleastic around it twice but now I can get the same hair elstic round it like 5 times, so yeah heaps thinner. Its yukky isnt it, hope it stops for you soon. Mine started falling out when Claire was about 2 months and stopped when seh was about 4 months.
So who has started solids? no.. in a couple of weeks i think we will though!
Whose baby is teething? not sure.. we thought so but now not so sure. She is definately slobbering everywhere and grabbing everthing and putting in her mouth.
whose baby is rolling? yes, both ways.
Sarah, huge big gentle bear to you. I hope your neck gets better really fast! It's horrible when you can't turn your head
Caro, Michael is a little cutie. I'm still losing heaps of hair as well. When I was at the hairdressers the other day cutting ALL my hair off...lol...I mentioned it and she asked if I was BF and I said yes... she said that quite often hair loss is a side effect of BF but it will stop eventually. If I start looking bald then I might consider not BF!!
Rachel, this whole flu thing is horrible! We've also had a little boy in Brissy die. The thing is though it's not actually from the flu itself but related illnesses. Still it's hard though not to worry. Where on the Gold Coast are you going to be staying? Pity you won't be in Brissy cos we'd have been able to catch up! Great Claire loves her farex and on her rolling!! I think Oskar is just lazy lol. He gets the legs over but then he gets distracted by his arms or hands and things around him. No doubt he'll just do it one day but it's all good for now
Sarah, you'll have to email me the name of the book you're talking about. I haven't read much more of the current one but will try to tonight. I love reading things which put into words my thoughts... gives me a better way to explain myself sometimes.
Jo, how great Nic loves his food. Most boys do If you need to talk about stuff just email me honey and I'll listen
Solid? Not yet, although he's starting to get very interested in food when I'm eating or drinking. I'm going to try to hold him off for at least another month, but will do it whenever he's ready.
Teething....?? Nope, but loves chewing on his fingers.
Rolling... nup, he's too lazy for now...haha.
Sitting? For short periods he can then he either falls over sideways or starts to fold in half...pmsl looks very cute though.
We've been out most of the day just wandering around looking at the shops.. bought a few little things, nothing major but got a really cute toy box thing for him for $20 from K Mart... it's a red canvas box with jungle animals on it. Was $10 off so I thought ahhhh what the heck and it's got a lid to keep dust out... oh and the cat!!! Grrr at the cat..lol. Oskar and I are on our own till Friday night, Andy's gone to Perth for work. So, I have the bed to myself hehe. Better go, little man is getting tired and grizzly. Speak soon
Caro - thanks for that! I think I will try to make my own as the farex taste revolting and he hates it on it's own, that's why I put pears in it! Although, you make a very good point that we should give vegies first (not fruit). I am going to give him sweet potatoe tomorrow I think. I just need to buy a new blender thingo. I want a Breville Wizz Professional with the chopping bowl thing (I know what I mean!!). I have been loosing heaps of hair too, I notice it a lot on the bathroom floor after I blow dry it. I am going to get a cut soon too as it is just too out of hand and I can't do anything with it.
Cass - thanks, I appreciate it!
Solids - yep, just started
teething - yep, the first one has just come through (bottom left)
Rolling - yep, both ways, and wiggling all over the place
Sitting - nope, just falls over!
Well, Nic had a much better sleep last night. He only woke once at 3am for a feed. He woke up really early in the morning after that though too, just before 6am I think (Yuck!!). I really need to get to bed earlier in the night so I get more sleep. I am hoping that he sleeps more tonight with a full tummy.
Caro... thanks heaps for your help... I put a hot washer on my boob and then expressed with the pump... first time I've used it and man I'm not in a hurry to do it again! It feels nothing like feeding and actually can hurt!!!! I think though that I did it too long cos there was a bit of pinkish milk on the rim part when I finished I can't see that I've bled anywhere but I may have done that bruisy thing IYKWIM? Now my nipple is sore...lol. I put some paw paw ointment on it and I'm hoping that it will feel better in the morning. I think I've cleared the blockage though cos it doesn't feel hard like it did and I also had this white spot on my nipple and the milk eventually did come out of that spot. I didn't keep the milk though cos I didn't make sure everything was properly clean first cos I just wanted to stop my boob from hurting so much.
Sarah, how is your neck today? Feeling better, I hope.
Cass, pmsl about Oskar folding in half! Claire does the same and it looks soooo funny! Thn she sort of looks up and the bottom lip comes out and she gets cranky. Woohoo about the stuff you bought! Ouchie about your boobie blockage, hope its feeling better now.
Jo, hope you get another good nights sleep.
oh yeah,Claire isnt sitting up on her own yet. She folds over or flops to one side.
I went to my very first ABA meeting today. Its was nice and cosy and we talked about relationships. I think I did like half the talking, I just crapped on and on, lol. There were only two young babies there; Claire and a little boy about 3 months old. Claire had a great time looking at the boy. It was so cute!
I have a dilemma. I got my job offer today, in the mail. They made all our jobs disappear then offered us all another job which is exactly the same job title, pay and other conditions as before, pls a few extra nice bits and pieces. They offered me a full time job, but I dont want a full time job. I'm not ready to leave Claire full time yet. I am going to try and get them to let me work part time. I still love my days with her but it would be nice for a little extra cash. I am going to ring them tomorrow and ask about part time and if they say no then I might resign.
Ok well i think little miss is about to wake up for some more BOOB, so I better go rescue her!
yes thanks, neck is much better - love my chiro!!!!! Ari is good, the solids thing is working so well for her (boohoo my little bubba is growing up to fast) She has now figure how to slowly pull herself along on her tummy so combined with her rolling acrobatics = a lot of trouble. we are going to have to make some SERIOUS adjustments to our life before she eats something she shouldn't
So solids? yes started this week one meal a day (dinner) veges only so far
teething? yes Caro did I say thank you for that teething gel???? I meant too - wow it sure is powerful stuff eh?
Rolling ? Oh my lordy she never stays put today I found her, under the coffee table, under the dining room table and wedged between the longue (and this is in 5 min max!)
Cass- ouch on the blockage, the pinkness could be from the blockage. Did you figure out what caused it?
Caro - my hair has only just stopped falling out. reached it's peak aout a month ago when it also started falling out in huge clumps and also breaking off (making me look like a gremlin :-)
Heylo!~!~
It's been a while~ Been off in pain... Wisdom teeth are comming through! Thank gawd for bonjela lol! Off to the dentist today to get the top one out... Aghh i hate dentist! Actually im completely petrified of them!
Solids - Yes, has been for a month now, She has 1 frozen ice cube of fruit mixed with farex in the morning, and 2 frozen ice cubes of vegies at night... This week fruit is apple and pear _ Vegies are pumkin, sweet potato...
Teething - yes, has 2 teeth down the bottom.
rolling, We're 90% of the way there, just needs that extra bit of push to get her over!
Sitting - noipe...
hmmm, trying to think of everything i just read in the past 10mins, but i cant lol, its too early!
Ohhhh my mummy is moving back up from Taz! she missed us too much and hated not being here for me and Iz, so they all get back on the barge on Monday
Ok, cranky is getting tired again, needs cuddles... i'll do personals later
Sarah, so good to hear your neck is feeling better!! I can't believe how Ari is growing so fast now. Couldn't help but laugh at her being wedged between the lounge. They get themselves into some real pickles and can't figure out how to get out huh. I can't help but laugh at things like that. Poor little bubbas. I have NO idea what caused my blockage. Was really weird cos it wasn't there in the morning, it developed throughout the day It hurt sooooo much! I've had minor ones but nothing like this one and I'm not in a hurry to get another one that's for sure! It's still tender - well more the nipple than my boob but certainly better than what it was.
Cass, how great about your mum moving back!! At least it's a lot warmer than Tassie too!!!!!!!! Izzy will love having her around for sure cos she'll get spoilt ...hehe.
Karina, how did you find out about ABA meeting? I think I'd like to go, partly for the social interaction and meeting new people. Oh don't they look so funny but cute when they fold in half! Oskar is getting quite good at balancing, but then he just loses it and over he goes and I laugh at him and he gives me a big gummy grin.
Ok... I'm not sure what to do. As we were all told, wait till 6 months for solids... well I was reading some stuff about it last night and firstly, it's only a fairly recent thing the WHO has come up with on the 6 months thing and it also said when they're ready but NOT before 4 months unless told my CHN or doc. Secondly, there was a list of things to look out for to see when/if your bub is ready for solids. Well, Oskar is sooooo interested in me eating and drinking, even moreso if I'm holding him and he can see he just follows with his eyes and tries to grab my drink. Yesterday I was eating an apple and he was watching so I put it on his lip and he licked it and a HUGE grin then he was trying to suck it... majorly funny and cute. Later I was drinking some water from a bottle (cool boiled cos I hate tap water) and he was watching me like a hawk so I put it to his lips and gave him a tiny sip then he was reaching for it and he opened his mouth right up and put it in and tried sucking ...lol... and had his tongue inside...(he was giving my bottle a tonguey!!!! ..eeeew) ...lol but yeah, it took him only a couple of minutes to work out he could get something from it. So, I'm not sure if he's ready or if I should wait at least another week or so cos he'll be 5 months in 10 days. Any thoughts? Good or bad.. just really not sure what to do. I did buy him his own little cup and bowl etc today so I've got it all ready for when he's ready. I might start him with some water anyway cos that's not going to be a problem.
Oooh as Andy is away, last night I decided Oskar could just sleep with me...hehe...cos I just wanted to be near him even though he sleeps right next to me in his hammock! Anyway, he had a great sleep. Had to settle him around 3am but that didn't take much and then he slept through till 6:20am... so I don't know if he's getting cold in his hammock at around 5 or if he's just sleeping longer again..lol. He can sleep with me again tonight When Andy called me today I told him I might have to kick him out of our bed...PMSL... we'll see
PMSL @ the cat... he's on the computer desk trying to eat the cursor as it moves on the screen!! I can even see little slobber bits and he is also trying to bat the screen as I scroll and he looks behind the monitor trying to figure it out... omg it's funny! Ok yes, he peeves me off but he does make me laugh sometimes.
