Hi ladies!
We tried giving Claire a bit of Farex today but I dont think she was very impressed. She ate it and swaallowed it, but was much more interested in playing with her spoon. Anyway, about an hour after she had the Farex she spewed all over her clothes, so I had to change her. Then she did it again shortly after, then shortly after that she had a poo explosion, then after tht she spewed on DH, hehe. Lots of clothes changes today!
I am still trying to work out what to do with childcare. I am leaning towards not putting her at that place I visited during the week. Just seems too dodgy and yukky for me, and DH thought it was a bot dodgy too.
ohh so tired! time to sleep now!

Sarah, you poor love. I can't imagine what would be making Ari so upset. It sure sounds like she has some pain from what you've described. It's so distressing when you try everything you can think of and the only thing which works is the one you hate the most :( Even more distressing when you can't work out what it is that's making them feel like that. I feel for you so much. I wish I could give you a real hug, but I will have to send you a cyber:hug: instead and I hope your doc can give you some answers.
Karina... wow on all those clothes changes! I tried the Farex with Oskar about a week ago cos he was showing quite a bit of interest in food (although I've since decided he's not actually interested enough just yet) but he wasn't too impressed by it... and I mixed in more water than it said cos damn I'd hate eating glue stuff too!! Then I gave him a bit of steamed and pureed pumpkin and that he liked sooooo much better. Like I said, I am not giving him anymore for a little while. Probably try him in another couple of weeks again.
Caro, the boys are 5 months TODAY!! Can you believe that??? ALREADY!!!! I was mucking around saying I wasn't going to wake up a 3:58am to wish Oskar a happy 5 month birthday... so what does he do????.... wakes at 4am for a feed... PMSL he heard me the little monkey!!!

Howdy! We have had an exciting week this week (for us anyway!) - Emy learnt to sit all by her self. On Monday she could only sit for about 30 seconds, but by Wednesday, she was getting the hang of it, and can now sit for ages without falling over! Then last night, we were at mums house, and i had her on the kitchen table, and she was wiggling around like she was sick of sitting, so i stood her up and held on to her for a bit, and then she leant against my body, and for some strange reason i let go, and she managed to keep herself upright - and it didn;t feel like she was resting much of her weight on me either. It was crazy!
And then, yesterday, i had an apple i had cut in half and de-cored, and was holding Emy while i was eating it, and she grabbed my hand and put the apple in her mouth, and started sucking, and her eyes lit up! It was the first taste of food that she has had, and when i tried to take it off her so i could eat it, she whinged, grabbed my hand and shoved the apple back in her mouth - it was sooooooooo funny. I was going to try to wait until 6 months to feed her, but now i think i might have to bring that forward a little bit...
Also, we have finally had luck with formula and bottles - she will now take a pur orthodontic teat, and actually suck. But she will only take the 0-3 month ones at the moment, the 3-6 month ones seem to flow to fast for her right now. Because i have had no luck trying to get her to have any formula, i have only been making up half of what the tin reckons she should be having (100ml instead of 200ml), and today she just about finished the lot. Yay! Her being happy to have formula makes me feel a bit better about going back to work - I wouldn't want her starving for the 2 days she is with my mum. Also don;t want her screaming from hunger while she is with mum - i think that would just about drive mum crazy!
Anyhoo, i feel like i have walked over half of the western suburbs of brisbane today, so i am going to go and crash, and hope Emy sleeps in tomorrow - she usually wakes up at 8:30-9ish, but she woke up at 6:30 today, so hoping that was just a one off...
-
WTG Ali!! Oskar did that with an apple last week too, he thought it was wonderful!! Emerson sounds like she is doing great! Such a clever little girl.
I bought one of those little spoony things with the mesh bag on them... I know Sarah knows what I'm talking about...lol... and I cut a little piece of pear and popped it in yesterday and Oskar thought it was Christmas!! Once he worked it out he just kept shoving it in his mouth and having a good old chomp! They're great cos you don't have to stew, puree etc. I did it cos I'm fairly sure he's teething but an eye tooth, not the normal middle tooth!! He's been quite a mummy's boy and grizzly and not sleeping as well. He's had a white spot there for about the last 4/5 days and it's still there and he chews on that side lots. So I thought that he'd like the feeling of the mesh bag and I think he did. Anyway, that's all the news from then apart from him being so overtired last night it took about 2 hours to get him to sleep!! lol. Later yummy mummy's!! :D

YAY! We have had a first today - Emy and I managed to go to the shop, hang around a bit, buy some stuff, and then stop at the grog shop on the way homw, while managing to stay clean and dry! Emy has been a happy chucker, and has always needed to wear a bib over all of her very cute clothes, but today, i thought i would see how she would go without a bib on, and it was a success! YAY! Although, she did spew almost the second we got home, but still, i was very happy that we got to the shop dry.
-
I just looked at them on the web they look fantastic~ I'm going shopping! hehe!
Izzy is a little better today, still very crocky - but improving and temp is stable... doctor checked her over again today, and liked what he heard!
My friend who has one week to go untill her bubba is due, went an saw her doctor today, and her doctor was going to induce her tomorrow! But she said no, because her little girl, izzy an me are sick... so she's getting induced next wednesday (if not before)... :) which is really exciting i see it from the other end!
Ali - That's kewl! They look so much cuter without the bibs :)
Oh and yoiu know how i was telling you all my mum was back! well shes now on her way to townsville!!~!~!~!~ Sarah i'll come visit one day :)
Gotta go get Izzy to bed, hope everyone is well!
-
Cass_blob - glad to hear that Izzy is getting better. It is so sad to hear/see sick babies. They should just all be healthy. A girl at work had her 2nd baby last year, and he has been sick since he was born, and he has finally been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and it is sooo sad, and then i kind of feel guilty for having a happy healthy baby.
Anyway, didn't you use to live down south somewhere? where is brisbane are you?
-
Ali - she is all smiles again! just got a nasty cough~ i agree, they should all be healhy. Oh thats so sad! ! ! I know what you mean about feeling guilty, my friend just had her baby prem, and i felt guilty having Izzy my labour was long but perfect where as she went through all this trauma!
No havent for a few years, I did live in Adelaide in 05, and recently went down to Taz for a few weeks, but that sumes it up... I'm South west - Logan area... But going to move at the end of the year/start of next year, but we can't decide on a nice place to raise our kiddies.
-
Hi all, just dropping in quick - internet down, power outage, assignment due, business booming baby teething, DS - issues = no computer time.
Cass_ thanks for the call you are such a sweetie, ari has been slightly better, still waking but not as distressed - so nice to cuddle her and not have her scrunched up kicking at me. we think it is one of either constipation (longer between poos, not hard and dry though), my chocolate binge (see DS -issues) or formula (hich she only has on Wed and Fri nights so we'll see how we go - so far tonight is not looking promising)
Karina - Caro's right mothers instincts are always right
Cass_blob - woohoo, when are you coming up! Hope Izzy is feeling better, OMG must have been very scary!
Sorry to anyone I've forgotten but gotta run
-
WTG Ali!! Oskar almost always has a bib on as well...lol. I do my best to co-ordinate it with his clothes though, not always a successful job though no matter how hard I try!
Cass, so glad to hear little Iz is feeling better :D
Sarah, no problems hun.... I hear ya on the choccie thing... I had a binge this afternoon... see story below...
Ok, so my cat - YES MY CAT AGAIN!! - peed on my bed AGAIN!! I was sooooo angry that I was pretty much in tears. I had a friend here when he did it so she was most helpful with Oskar while I sorted out my doona etc. Now, luckily I caught it just after he'd done it (by some miracle) and it hadn't gone through the my mattress. However, it was on my NEW doona which I bought just under 2 weeks ago when he last decided he would pee on my bed!! So, this is the 5th time (that we know of) he has peed on one of the beds in the house since January! Second time in just under 2 weeks... 3rd time in around 6 weeks. So, he has to go. I had to go and buy another doona cos the other is sopping wet after being washed - hopefully it was soon enough that it hasn't wrecked it! I am still angry with him. So he needs a new home and family cos I just can't deal with this anymore. I had such a crappy afternoon... other than that though I'm just dandy and so is my lovely little man. So, I had a bit of a choccie binge this arvo...lol. We had to give Andy his father's day pressies tonight cos he's going to Perth tomorrow until next Wed... he thought his pressies were cool..hehe. So, just me and my little man hanging out.
-
Hey Cass - grrr I used to hate it when DH was away for Fathers Day etc. I think in the first 2 yrs of his job he worked every fathers day, mothers day easter, christmas etc. Xanny and I used to always have a fab time together though. Sorry to hear about you having to give up your cat? I still think you should ring dr Harry - he would sort him out. Does dr Harry have a website???
-
Sarah, I did look up the Dr Harry site last night.. but like Caro said, nope, no more consults... ahhh well. I did call into the vet this arvo but they can't really offer any thoughts other than what we've already had checked and they think it sounds behavioural but not sure what triggered it. I did have some friends and two other bubs here yesterday before he did it and Andy and I think that may have had some trigger yesterday... but really if he's not happy with this in his home then we can't realistically keep him. He can't control our family like this :( Not to mention how expensive it is getting just the past 2 weeks alone with 2 new doona's... oh and the stuff I threw out when he did it 6/7 weeks ago!!
-
Hehe Sarah - not for a while yet, going to let the tribe settle in, then head up for a steaky beak :)
Cass sorry bout your cat~
Caro - get better soon, me n izzy still snuggling up in bed trying to get rid of the last bit of it...
-
Cass - sorry about your cat - how annoying for it to be weeing all over everything. I'd feel like strangling the thing - i wouldn't in real life, but that is how angry and annoyed i'd be...
Poor little Emy now has a really bad head cold. The poor chickens nose is so stuffed up,she is snoring while she sleeps, and her eyes are so red and puffy. I wish that there was more that we could do for her than paracetamol and eucaluptus oil. I know that i felt like dying when I had a really bad head cold when i was pregnant with her and couldn't take anything - drugs are the best things ever for making you feel just a little bit better...
Jason is all upset at the moment, coz he was planning to go and walk the Kokoda Track in 2009, and had lined up 7 of his mates to go with him, and now 3 of them have pulled out for various reasons - like a bad knee, or doing your PhD, or a lack of money are any excuse! Men....
-
Hello again another quick visit, assignment due in Monday - yuck yuck
Happy fathers Day to all the March daddy's for tomorrow.
Ariya is doing much better I have stopped giving her the occassional bottle of formula and just grin and bear expressing - I hate expressing - did I mention that. Also no more chocolate binging for me (except tonight - assignment etc) OMG forgot to tell you, we had the scaries thing happen the other day. My dog (rhodesian ridgeback 40kg+) walked up to Ariya and rolled over her. I think I actually picked him up by the legs and threw him half way across the backyard. Both Ariya and dog were fine after the intial shock.
I can't believe our bubs will be having their half birthday this month :-( So sad that they are growing up so quickly. Ari is learning to pull her legs underneath her but is finding it very frustrating as she keeps tipping over. I held her torso the other day and she got right up and sat on her bottom with THE BIGGEST GRIN ever, so looked like the cat who swallowed the bird, so look out world I think she will be crawling in no time.
Hope all are well, has anyone heard from Shell, Savina, Bek, Sonia etc? Anyway have to go
-
Ali, I felt like doing a "Homer Simpson" on him...lol. We've contacted a breeder who is going to help us find a new family for him. We don't think he's happy with our situation. We're thinking that he might actually be happier with a no kids family and with just either an older single or couple. It's sad, but we have to do what is best for him and our family. Awww poor little Em, I hope she gets better asap!
Sarah, I soooo would've done the same thing!! OMG I think my cat has been talking to your dog! Is Ari doing better without the formula? Maybe it's the type of formula.... as in maybe she is a bit intolerant or something and needs soy or another type? I hear ya on the expressing!! I had this grand plan of BF till a certain age - approx 8-12 months then putting him on a bottle/cup with EBM. Well, I've expressed twice so far and that was for a blocked duct and that was just a right royal PIA!! So, I seriously can't see me expressing for feeding purposes. WTG Ari!! Such a clever little princess. I hear ya, they're growing up WAY TOO FAST! A friend of mine's little boy is 10 months and taking his first steps, and I thought OMG that's only 4 months away, I hope it's not that soon!
Oskar is aaaaalmost rolling. He can't be bothered getting past his shoulder... but thinks he's pretty clever all the same. Very cute though. He also loves resting his feet on the bar on his pram... sits there like king Oskar! We sent Andy a pic this morning with Oskar holding a Happy Father's Day Daddy sign I made seeing as he's in Perth and he loved it. Well, I've hurt my back, right down the bottom... in between the small of the back and the tailbone... and I jar it every now and then which really takes the breath away. I have no idea how I did it, but did it this morning and well wouldn't you know it Andy's away until Wednesday! So, I had the heatpack on it but I find that it feels a bit worse after sitting so I'm trying to keep moving as much as possible so it doesn't seize up on me. Not easy to carry Oskar either!! I'm hoping it's better in the morning as I can't really do much to help it other than heat!
