Hi Jess! Good to hear you andTiahna are doing well :) It is great when they start doing new things isn't it...
How is everyone and their bubs going?
It seems we are back on track with the feeding, still needs improving but we are getting there. DS has been waking for an extra feed during the night, so now I'm getting up 3 times instead of 2. The good thing is though that he is becoming more efficient and not taking so long to feed now and is done before I fall back asleep :)
I have noticed recently that people in the shops talk to me more just because I have a baby in my arms! Had him in the ergo this morning doing the shopping and a lady said he looked so cute and cosy and asked how old he was. When I told her, she was like "oh he's so tiny!" grrr not really a confidence booster for me but I'm finding I'm getting these comments more and more. The good thing is he looks healthy (he is) and that's the main thing I guess. In 12 months he will probably be a little chubby bubba and I will be wondering WTH was I worried about!?
good to hear the feeding is going well Laranna
no matter what size bubs is you will always get comments!! just like you do when pregnant about the size of your belly!
we are going good Jack sleeping 5-6hrs at night now waking for a bottle and back to sleep again, hes awake more in the day and will happily play in is swing and on his playmat but only if im right next to him, if i walk away he just cries but as soon as i walk back and talk to him hes fine! separation anxiety already geez!
hope everyone is going well and having a nice weekend
Hey Everyone
Babywrangler its gret to see you pop in! I always sem to miss you on MSN! But then i dont get in front of this computer very often lately. It sounds like BJ is doing really well and i love seeing the pics on MSN of him ~ he's such a cutie
Blanche  at the seperation anxiety! I bet it can be frustrating at times!
Laranna its amazing how many people do stop you when you have bubs and toddlers! I agree with Blanche someone always has something to say either they too small or too chubby just like when you are PG! I wouldn't worry like you say he is gaining and at the end of the day thats all that matters
ok well i have to go already !!! Molly needs a feed and DS needs to go to work:wall:
i will try and get back later to finish posting! Bye for now!
hi girls...how is everyone?
We are still struggling with the feeding and have started to comp feed with a supply line. I don't know why but giving him formula really upset me and I cried the whole time and apologised to him for not being able to give him enough of my own milk. I guess thats why I felt disappointed in myself and my body.
Those of you who formula feed, how did you feel about doing it? Was it something you decided to do from the beginning?
So nothing else exciting here, we've been doing lots of visits with CHN, LC and GP about his feeding. His suck is still not good enough but at least he is getting some breastmilk.
After 10 days of going without a poo he finally did one yesterday right as we were about to walk out the door to go to Mothers Group! OMG it was a shocker too...he was definitely saving it up! :)
Hope everyone is going well!
Laranna- I have formula fed Amelie since she was 2 weeks and I did feel sooo guilty about it. But at the same time I was miserable breastfeeding her and I didnt want her to pick up on that. I even considered going back to breastfeeding when she was about 6 weeks but if It didnt work out again I wondered what impact that would have on her and she was and still is very happy on formula. I will try harder next time to breastfeed as I do still get attacks of the guilts but I think that is just part of being a Mum questioning if you are doing the right thing. But she is happy, healthy and very loved and thats all that matters in the end.
Kristale - thanks for sharing that. I've been having the same thoughts about wondering if I'm doing the right thing, not only with feeding but everything else too! I said tearfully to DP last night "I have no idea what I'm doing!" I've been doing everything under the sun to get the feeding right, at least to get DS to put on more weight. It will be interesting to see how much he has put on this week since I have been comp feeding with some formula. We are off to the paed on Monday.
But you are so right, as long as they are happy, healthy and loved then that's all we can ask for :)
Anyhow, wish this horrible weather would go away, it would do me and DS wonders to get outside for a nice walk in the sunshine.
laranna - like you said, as long as they are happy & healthy. That's all that matters. The guilt trips will never end. Whether it's the way we feed them when they're babies, or whether we go back to work or stay at home, right through to them being teenagers and not letting them go to that 'very important party on Friday night'! It will never end. You need to do what's right for you, and what you're happy with.
I know it's been hard with you, with the minimal weight gains, but every baby is different. Some gain little weight as babies, and thrive as kids or adults. Other babies get chubby really quickly, but are stick then as kids. You're doing everything you can, and to the best of your ability. You can't do any more than that. Give yourself a pat on the back. You're doing wonderfully.
I wrote a post in here the other day, but it didn't appear. Weird. And I can't remember what I wrote!
Everything is going great here with Emily. Me on the other hand, I have the flu :( It's pretty bad, I keep getting light headed to the point that if I don't sit down then I might faint. And I'm getting the shakes and aches and pains as well. It's a PITA that all I can take is panadol. That's not doing a huge lot to get rid of it.
aaaah well, hopefully it'll go away soon. I've gone through 4 boxes of tissues in 2 days!
Weird Jodi. My post disappeared too. Gremlins. Hope you feel better soon. Not nice being sick and having to look after two bubs.
Laranna - I absolutely agree with what the others have said. I formula fed Isabelle from 13 weeks and I gave myself such a hard time about it. In the end, I ended up being happy, my baby was happy and that's all that mattered. Be prepared for some negativity from people but just remember you are the one that knows yourself and your bub best. Happy mum = happy baby. And like you, I said I was going to do everything I could to bf this time. I am, but I have to admit I don't enjoy it and am only still doing it because (A) Ellie won't take a bottle and (B) I know how much more work FFing is - anyone who says women ff for convenience has never had to do it!
Still struggling a bit here. They're both such good girls but Izzy has 3 teeth all coming through at once so she's grizzly and clingy. Elena is going really well but is still feeing every 3 or 4 hours, 24 hours a day. She also uses me as a dummy (and won't take a dummy), so I'm so tired. Every now and then I'll get a good night but they are few and far between. Hanging out for the day it all clicks for her and she sleeps longer at night consistently.
Thanks girls ...I'm feeling a bit better about it all, starting to realise that I am doing all that I can.
Jodi - I hope the flu disappears quick and in the meantime, I hope you have someone to help you out so you can get some rest.
Lulu - to you too...I hope things settle down for you too. I am also looking forward to having even just a block of 3 or 4 hours sleep. J feeds every 2 hours round the clock, some is just comfort though plus I am doing the comping every 3rd feed or so...very tired!
How do you tell when they start teething? And when they do, how long before the tooth breaks through? J has been drooling heaps the past few weeks and today I noticed a little white dot on his bottom gum that feels quite hard. DP apparently got his first tooth at 3.5 months and I've heard getting teeth early is hereditary.
laranna - I too have heard that getting teeth early is herediarty. Nina started teething at 12 weeks, but the first tooth didn't actually appear until she was 7.5 months old.
lulu - 3 teeth at once, ouchie! Poor little chicken. I hope Elena starts cutting back ont the comfort feeds soon, that must be hard
Jodi- I hope your flu gets better soon.
lulu- sorry to hear you are struggling a bit with your girls.
Well me and Amelie are going great she is sleeping from 10:30pm (her dream feed) to between 5 and 6am which is amazing I am so happy with her for that it makes me feel so much better after that big block of sleep. She is so smiley all the time and always wants to stand on her feet now I keep telling her she is still a baby. How quick they start to grow up I miss her little baby stage already. We also had some family photos on Saturday and they look so great we chose to have some skin shots in big prints framed for our house we all look great. But very expensive!!! Any girls in Perth if you go to Viva be prepared there photo prices are insane but the photos are gorgeous.
Laranna - I've been wondering about teething too. Elena is chewing, not sucking her hand. Izzy got her first tooth at 4 months but it had been coming through for a while.
BBL
hi ladies, sorry its been a while since i posted but just finding it hard to find the time and the computer has been broken.
i was wondering about the teething too, joseph has been drooling a lot and munching his hand like crazy, but could be that he has just found them. he's doing really well, he weighs now a little over 6 kilos and is now in double zeros, his neck though is not strengthening as much as we'd like but i guess that comes in time. he's just started sleeping 8 hours the last two nights and before that 4 to 5 hours, so thats pretty good. i'm sorry i don't have much more to post as we have family visiting from singapore.
i really hope everyone is doing well and so too your little ones. take care
Good to hear everyone is starting to get some more sleep during the night. Josh slept 6 hours on Thursday and Friday nights but then last night he woke twice, first at around 1:30am but settled after a retuck and dummy and second at around 3:30 for a feed.
He is still a little bubba, still in 0000 and 000! We are off to the paediatrician tomorrow to get everything checked out. My general feeling is he is ok, just needs more calories in him. I've started comp feeding with a supply line this week so he is having his normal about of time on my boobs plus getting 100-200mls of formula each day depending on how he's feeling. Yesterday he had an ultrasound on his tummy as the GP thought it would be a good idea since he had not done a poo for 10 days, but the sonographer was a paediatric specialist and she said everything looks fine, he is just slow to move his bowels. This time he has gone 6 days without pooing...I don't really mind as the less pooey nappies I have to change the better :) but my god when he does poo, you can tell he has really saved it up! LOL
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Lol Laranna - i know when Jack goes a day without a poo when he does its so smelly cant imagine the smell after 6 days!! hope the appt goes well tomorrow...keep up the good work hunni your doing a great job
We are going well here Jack has been great the last few weeks im waiting for it all the change!! last night was a great night he slept from 11pm - 8am and DD has been sleeping all night again too so i had a good sleep too:)
Jack is starting to go into 00 now
hope everyone had a great weekend cant believe its almost over already
So it seems DS needs fattening up (well, I already knew that!). The paed was great and reassuring. She suggested I up the formula to 100mls after every breastfeed. We had some blood tests done too and my little man was a lot braver than his mum! He did not cry one bit (I almost did!). The paed says that if there is any wrong with the bloods then he will have to go into hossie but the general feeling is tha he is fine. Paed is happy that his head and length are growing normally. We go back on Thursday.
I'm sad that our bf'ing relationship hasn't gone full steam ahead but I am a bit more at ease ithe it all now because I know I've worked so hard to make it work better. I've tried everything and now I just want my little man to be healthy and grow well so if he has to have formula on top of his breastmilk then so be it.
That's great the the Paed was reassuring Laranna. Like you said, as long as he is healthy, that's all that matters. I know it's heartwrenching when you desperately want to b/f, but it's not working out how you wanted it to. But you've done everything you can for him.
kristale - those photos sound amazing! We had photos done when Nina was 12 months old, and they're great. VERY expensive though. We'll be doing the same thing when Emily is 12 months old. I have an individual one of Nina which I've framed, so I'll be getting a photo of Emily at that age and putting it next to Nina's.
klee - great to see you pop in, and good to hear everything is going well with you guys.
Emily has started kicking her arms & legs a lot more this week. Today she wriggled out of her wrap, kicked it down the end of her cot, and wriggled up to the other end of the cot. Now that's a mighty effort! She's going into 00 size clothes now. It's sad seeing her growing so quickly. She was giggling at us today, and everytime we'd look at her, she'd giggle then look away all shy. Very cute. She has 2 teeth that are poking through at the moment. They don't seem to be bothering her though.
She went to bed tonight without her usual top up feed. She fed at 5'ish, had a bath at 6, and went straight to sleep afterwards. So I wonder if she'll wake tonight wanting that top up? She did that the other night, and OMG my boobs were killing me.
