Just typed a HUGE post but lost it... I posted it just after the thread closed... oh well...
Thought i'd never get my BB fix this morning... whats going on with the site...
DD has been screaming... poor baby is teething... her cheeks are bright red, she's biting down on things, drowling x10, everything is going in her mouth.....
On the brighter side, she's communicating heaps now, trying to say Mumma.... she's getting the mmmmm noise out... so cute... she's blowing raspberries all the time since she worked it out, she's such a copy cat... she learns things so quickly... nothing like DS... He just grunted alot... She's singing out noises... its just wonderful...
Dads day was good, had FIL over for a BBQ lunch... thank god the rain stopped... it was a fantastic day although DD wouldnt go to anyone and we had people comming and going all day tolook at the puppies for sale... But YAY only 1 left to sell. Then at about 1.30 DP decided he wantes to look for another car... he said it was the best way to spend FD...
NaNa- hope the rest of the moves goes well and hopefully you can get the net back ASAP... we'll miss your posts./...
i cant remember what else i typed before but hope everyone else is well

Thought it might have been just me with trying to get on here this morning, sometimes our internet seems to play up and takes ages to load things.
Abb - glad you've got yourself into a little routine that is working for you both. it's a very similar routine to ours, except Cameron seems to want another big 2hr sleep in the morning, with only hourly sleep between the other feeds. He has even started to wake up for the 7-8pm feed (which we used to wake him up for)
NaNa - good luck for the move and unpacking. Hopefully the move will not disrupt your routines too much.
Girl22 - I also don't see a problem with sleeping in the pram. Cameron often sleeps in his pram when we go out, shopping, a few dinners, friends house. I was almost tempted to bring the pram upstairs at the beginning because he wouldn't sleep in it, but he learn't after a while to give in and sleep.
Jess - i know what it's like to loose a big post, so i have learnt to copy the post once it starts to get long, so i can repaste it if I loose it. Would be good it Tiahna says Mum first - i've been trying to teach Cameron Mummy, i must say it to him 100 times a day (except yesterday, where i daddy alot). But I think Cameron may say daddy first, as he had d sounding noises today, either that or he'll say hello (as he seems to try to mimic me alot when I say hello Cameron- especially with the o sound)
MisTree - I hope Seth feels better soon, it's so sad when they are not well and when throw up then they look at you like - mummy i don't feel good. its frustrating when they can't tell you whats wrong.
Well Cameron gave me a challenging few days end of last week. Both Thursday, Friday and Saturday he seemed grumpy. All 3 days he threw up after his 10am feed (which he usually only does a little feed, as he tends to pig out at the 7am wake up feed), to the point that I had to give him a bath after Thursday's throw up as it was all over him (and me and the floor) - was more prepared for Friday and Saturday. So yesterday we gave him ebm all day, as he hadn't been feeding to well and I wanted to make sure he fed enough. He didn't throw up at all (he never seems to chuck after a bottle) and seemed much happier.
Today he seems a little grumbly and hard to breastfeed again, so i wondering if he is starting to prefer the bottle. I'm a little confused about where I am with this, as I have never really enjoyed breast feeding anyway, but have done it because it was cheaper, more convienient, a good bonding experience and recommended as best for baby. But funny enough I feel sad at the thought of changing. I'm feeling really frustrated and emotional about it (tears well up everytime I think about it). Will talk it over with DH tonight, and see how we go over the next few days.
Well better go do some housework before Cam wakes up.
Bye for now
Bec7 the thought of giving up breastfeeding always made me sad so you are not the only one. You need to do what works for you both and if you feel more comfortable knowing exactly what Cameron is getting then bottle feeding may be the way to go. You still get to hold bubs close and cuddle when bottle feeding so you dont miss out there.
Mis_tree sorry to hear you had a bad fathers day. I hope this week goes well for you to make up for the crabby day
Jess Poor Tiahna and her teething I hope it settles down for her soon.
Well work was ok today. Got home and Jordan was out playing in the backyard and Jamie was inside with Liam folding all the washing LOL it made me laugh as he has never really done the FULL washing before.
He ended up with migraine tonight though so went to bed at 7 so I am up alone, waiting for Liam to wake for his last feed and then I might hit the hay early as I am knackered.
I am thinking of putting him on formula for his middle night feed and getting jamie to do it. I am so tired having to get up and feed him and then still get up early for work. I am more tired now than when I was at home. It should only be a few weeks I would say, he has to cut that night feed out soon I would think????? DO you guys think that would be ok? I have never added formula into a diet before.... not sure if I should.
have a nice night ladies
Thank goodness, I have completed my major assignment. I can deal with the rest. Members, I have noticed something since registering here as a member. My Health Nurse only weighs my babygirl. She doesn't take measurements of her height or anything else. Also, when she comes we chat about any concerns that I may have. She is a lovely lady, but is it part of the routine for her to take measurements? By the way, my girl has not had a fever or anything of that like.
To Jess,
Did you say your daughter is teething? And also, rolls? I love to make comparisons seeing our daughters were born on the same day. My little girl talks alot. Although she has yet to roll, I think. She drolls alot. She does everything expect roll. Or maybe the problem is, I have not given her the chance because I prefer to do my assignments, read my textbooks or clean when she plays. We normally have playtime when she wakes early morning, or during the night for a feed and a nappy change.
Finally just got home... Phew... what a long tiresome day... We picked up our new (used) car today... It was DP's fathersday gift... was supposed to get it yesterday but it wasnt reaady... Its a VZ commodore... Lotsa boot space for the prams. so comfy comapred to the other car...
DS and DD both fell asleep on the way home which was bliss...
DD has been so stressful... I know its not her fault with the teething but its just hectic with the screaming....
Went to MIL to show her the car and DS was so excited, He loves his Nanna. DD on the other hand wouldnt even go to her...
M_T: sorry FD was such a bummer... Must be difficult...
Bec- I know i hate when i loose postss... i need to copy them too but its when i forget that it happens... Maybe with Cam you can express full time or use EBM for some feeds... Maybe if you still use the EBM you'll feel like your still giving him your liquid gold...
Deancey- could you express also???? i used to give DS formula of a night but my milk supply diminished very quickly... Like you said to bec thou... Its what works for you... If your struggling to do the night feeds and work then getting jamie to feed will be a huge help...
Hi girls,
Was just lingering catching up on the goss of how the May belly buddies are all doing. Hi to all the other new baby buddies in the group too. I've been offline with BB for the last month or so- had trouble logging on after we changed email addresses at home but am back now.
glad to see that everyone is going well and Nana & Jess are still chatty as ever. Our May1-15 group is a lot quieter so I often try to pop in here and see how everyone is going!
For the girls who are considering switching bubs feeds (some or all) to formula, my only advice is to go with what your gut is telling you. Your no better or worse of a mum if you decide to switch to formula feeds.
With my 19mo DS I persisted with BF until he was 6 months but in the end was not enjoyable and really stressed me out which in turn I'm sure affected the quality of my milk which also made him more unsettled. I battled for too long with the thought of giving up BF but once I did switch to Formula we were instantly both 200% better in ourselves.
This time round with DD is completely different and so far, everythings been going great so I hope to continue BF for a lot longer but just take each week at a time and will see how things go.
As Mums we put so much uneccessary extra pressure on ourselves that it can sometimes be easy to get lost in the day to day issues and forget about thinking of the big picture and what is really best for both Mum & bub.
Had also been reading some of your posts about this Activite drink and thought I;d get soem the other day when at the supermarket to see what all the talk was about. Man, had no idea how yummy it is. Even if it doesn't make any difference to milk supply, it tastes damn good and is better for me than drinking coffee all day. YUMMO- thanks girls!
Ok, so now I'm starting to out-do jess & Nana's posts so best be off! Bigs hugs to all the beautiful bubs!
Hey Bec*... So great to hear from u... I try to read the other thread but dont often get a chance to post.... Glad things are going well...
Well Said about the BF..... I had trouble with my 1st and BF and was sick with the stress of needing to give it up but at the end of the day you do what you feel is best.
I was also surprised with the activite... all the preg stuff tasted YUK... (RLT, etc) i never heard of it and thought it was yet another YUK drink... like a medicine... it works but tastes crap.... I didnt notice much of an increase on it alone but alone with the maxalon were getting there.
Well DD woke up at 3.30 for a feed and woke up singing out at 6.20... i think it was cos we were out all day yesterday so she had a longer gap between feeds. She's now happily playing on the floor with no nappy... My gosh does she love no nappy... I suggested it to a friend who could hear her singing over the phone... she had never given her son no nappy time(being a boy didnt want him to pee on himself... I just told her to cover it up with a sheet or cloth nappy... but she didnt like the idea... How many of you give bubs no nappy time??? I think thats how Tiahna learnt to roll so quickly... it gives her so much freedom... SHe loves to kick about unrestricted... also those who are BF how many feeds are you doing in a day... were doing about 6-8 is that alot??? so thats a feed still every 2 hours...
The cutest thing happened yesterday... DD was crying but i had just fed her and she just had sore gums,.... next thing i hear DS go up to her and tell her "its ok baby girl" (just like i say) he then proceeds to tell her "you want booby" before he could try to give her his booby... (... its happened before) i called out from the kitchen... no its ok she's not hungry... he then proceeds to start singing "5 cheeky monkeys swinging on a tree".... DD was instantly quiet for the whole song while DS was jumping round doing the actions (he learned it at preschool)... It was the cutest thing i have seen...
Jess - Hamish also loves nappy time, i usually give him nappy time twice a day and yes he always pee's everywhere but i lay him on a towel, he loves it and i put his toys around him and he babbles away. I am not concerned with him peeing everywhere, i think they need the freedim and the fresh air. On the feeds Hamish is feeding 3 hourly and has been sleeping through so he usually only has 6 feeds but 7 if he wakes during the night. I was concerned 6 wasnt enough but i mentioned it to mchn and she said he is putting on enough weight and sleeping so 6 is fine.
Becstar - I hear you on the Activite drink it is nice but not sure it has done much to my supply. Pop in here anytime, we are a chatty group and i think its great we like to babble some more than others lol
Girl22 - yay on finishing assignment. My ds is same age as your bub and he hasn't rolled yet either and we have him on floor alot, i think its just an individual thing, they will all get there in time.
Deancey - with feeding i am with the other girls you need to do what is right for you, i was giving hamish a bottle of formula a day for the first month and now he has ebm, i am struggling with expressing and we have back up formula just incase needed when i am at work, as at the moment i am only expressing just enough to cover his feeds and i have no more storage left . I may have to start formula feed soon also as i go to 3 days a week work soon and know i wont have enough ebm.
Mis tree - bummer on fathers day, i hope seth gets better soon and your week brightens up for you.
We have had a good run of sleeping, feeding etc so im sure it will come to an end soon, he usually has 3 good days and then a couple of bad days but this time he has slept well for 5 nights maybe 6 not quite sure but i am hopeing it continues as i am starting to feel half normal again and the house actually is clean most of the time, except for washing ofcourse. Still having trouble keeping up to the washing but the weather here isnt the best for drying clothes just yet. Looking forward to next week Dp is taking 3 days off and we are going away, not far just heading to Melbourne (3hours from here) to visit relatives and friends, will be interesting to see how ds copes in the car. I cant wait to get away and i got my tax cheque back last week so i can hit the shops yay. I havent had to buy Hamish i item of clothing yet, my sisters have boys and gave me all there clothes plus we recieved so many when he was born. But my nephews were born in Summer so i will need to buy Hamish some summer clothes as theres wont fit, but i am looking forward to shopping for him, and dd needs new clothes for summer also. Ds is starting to stir i best be off.
Just thought i lost this whole post lucky i copied and pasted it lol.
Just a quick post before Cameron wakes. I'm still undecided what to do, as he breastfed well after that post yesterday, and started well this morning for a little while before starting to cry halfway through the feed. Thank you for all your advise. I think may end up doing mainly express feeds - with the occassional attempt at breastfeeding (just in case I need to breast feed while we are out), but still can't make up my mind.
With the no nappy time - we usually do 2-3 no nappy times a day. I usually refer to it as 'free willy time'. Cameron loves it and i think it helps with preventing nappy rash. Can't wait til Summer as he will probably get a lot more free willy time, as we will likely sit outside near the pool a lot. I also put a towel down and sit beside him with a face washer ready for when he 'fires his weapon'.
Well think I might have a little extra time before Cam wakes, so will go make me an Aktavite.
just thought i would pop in and say a quick hi.
work has been crazy the kids r driving me insane i cant wait for my holiday in nov lol.
And i think jayda is starting to get a cold, her nose is green running and she has been a bit sooky today. she was at my mums on friday and she put her in with my dad while he was sick soooooooooooooooo not happy.
Jess: i hope the teething isnt too bad.
i cant remember who brought up nappy free time. jayda loves it but yes she pee's everywhere too. last ngiht i was undressing her for her bath quickly ran to get her pj's and come back to a big puddle on the carpet.
her bum is gettin pretty red but i change her heaps it is only around her bum hole but. hehehe sorry didnt knwo how else to discribe it and her cheeks r very rosie the ones on her face that is lol. i have been told by so many signs that it means teethign is on its way.
She is chomping like crazy. mum and DH have both freaked out and been like omg wat has she got in her mouth but she just chews on her tounge or gums.
jayda is only on 6 bottles a day aswell. 3 hrs apart.
in regards to feeds Liam is having 5 a day. He is feeding about 4 hrs apart and at night he will go 6-8 hrs. He is pretty good overall with his feeds I am just wanting hom to drop the mid night feed but possibly he wont do this until we add solids to his diet.
I cant remember who asked but i already have 3 EBM bottles in the fridge for when I am at work. DH only needs to give him 2 feeds whilst I am at work so I always have a spare bottle incase I am late or Liam wants an extra feed.
I am sitting my nursing exam tomorrow so I am quite excited about it. I hope I do ok.
I think nappy free time is great I try and give it to Liam when I can however its not very regular. He doesnt seem to get nappy rash though which is good.
Off to watch all saints, take care everyone
Well after being at MIL monday night in the cold and taking 50yrs to get in the car and say out goodbyes and get home ( MIL has to get 100 hugs and kisses from the kids) Now DS, DD and myself all have a cold...... My head, throat and ears hurt plus my damn nose is blocked but still running like a tap. I feel aweful for the kids cos if i'm feeling this bad they must be suffering too...
DD went to bed at 8pm woke up at 4am this morning for a feed and has just woken up now (8) she's been waking up for a night feed for the last week and a half...
Abb- i'm not too concerned with DD's feeds as she's very happy and content, (DS was always hungry like he needed more and i knew my supply wasnt enough as his weight gain wasnt steady) I just thought by now that she would perhaps have longer bigger feeds and go maybe 3 hours between... i dont care bout the night feed but would be nice if i could get 3 hr between feeds in the day. i feed like i'm always feeding and i dont want to start feeling like its a chore... I'm really enjoying it this time round... no pressure to keep it up if thats how it happens... I was quite upset the 1st time...
Hamish seems to be doing well.. DD was like that with a few good days then bad then went weeks being GREAT now were back to normal and a bit all over the place
Bec7- maybe just take things as they come, maybe making a set decision once your sure... For now just do what u feel is best. Perhaps just take it 1 day at a time and see how things go. You may find once the pressure is off that things get a bit easier. The way i see it is you've done well so far and you should be proud of urself getting past the most difficult stage.... i know how u feel thou... i went through it with DS...
Sass- sorry to hear ur having a tough time at work. I'm using the vapouriser at the moment for the kids and i. It really helps especially when ur all stuffed up. Also baby bolsum on the chest, back and was recently told feet (not sure why)
Have u used anything on the nappy rash i find some creams make the rash worse. DS has a rash where the nappy digs in (she's got the pudgy legs still) and the nappy was rubbing from being in the carrier (poor darling) i found some NN time and a small amount of bepanthum cleared it up nicely in a day. Also i like the Palmers Bottom Butter... when the fam had the tummy bug and DD got gastro it was like eating at her skin a bit so i used the bottom butter and it seemed to moisturise her skin and the bepanthum seems to help as a barrier. DD has been rosy cheeked for weeks, chomping but still no teeth just small bumps that come up and down.
Deancey- Good luck for ur exam... for u... also wow on only 5 feeds a day... Glad then everyone seems to do no nappy time... I thought i must be weird when all my friends didnt do it.. (they look at me like i'm bringing up a nudist...)
ok ladies well the test went ok i am confident i did a pretty good job so will see what happens now
mis-tree hope you have a better night tonight. I hope Seths hips are ok good idea to get it checked out.
Jess LOL at your MIL needing 100 kisses, sounds like my MIL. Hope you feel better soon. How many feeds is Tiahna on a day?
Well Liam did well today. DH visited his friend whilst I sat my test and then we went costume shopping for DH 30th bday party, its 70s theme. I got a short go go dancer dress, will need to wear bike shorts underneath as its mega short.
Both boys asleep at the moment better go express a bottle as I missed one when I was sitting the test.
Morning
Just fed Hamish and he is back to bed woke at 5.45 this morning a bit earlier than usual he has been sneezing alot the last few days, i hope he isnt getting a cold. His gums are driving him crazy atm and is still dribbling unbelievably. He says daddy now, thought i was hearing things but dp and dd both mentioned it yesterday, then last night he was on the floor playing under play gym and babbling away and of he goes dad dad daddy, as clear as we would say it, i got my mobile out and recorded him.lol He is a chatterbox and very loud too. It was so cute. I have been saying mum mum to him alot but it seems dad was easier for him to say, dd said mum first so i atleast got one
Deancey - congrats on the interview, im sure you will do well, i can remember how nervous i was when i sat my entrance test, i think the interview was even worse as i seem to be too honest sometimes and i thought i would have said something silly but i was fine. I think they liked mature age applicants as there was a high drop out rate with school leavers. I was 26 when i did the course. You will enjoy having a 70s party, my brother had one for his 30th, it was fab, he had a creedence clear water revival cover band playing it was one of the best party's i had been to.
Mis tree- i hope Seth's hips are ok, and your missy moo is feeling better.
Jess - i hope you and the kids are feeling better soon.
Sass - hadnt heard from you in awhile, i hope work doesnt get you down to much, just think nov isnt that far away.
Bec7 - good to hear things are going well with cameron, i hope you can sort his feeding out soon.
I am going to get some housework done early this morning before anyone gets up, have work tonight. Hope everyone enjoys there day.
OMG did we have a bad day yesterday ... DD screamed nearly all day. I tried everything from massage to bike riding type thing with her legs (though she had wind) gave her the brauers colic stuff i brought (thanks NaNa... usually works a treat) yesterday how ever did nothing. After lunch i figured maybe its not wind and maybe its the theething. I put a tiny bit of bonjella on her gums and nope did nothing. Still screaming like in pain. DP got home and was like "WTF is wrong with her she sounds like she's hurting" He couldnt calm her down so he got her some panadol. She hadnt slept since she woke at 8 she was feeding ever 1 1/2 hours but i think it was more the omfort of sucking... (still refusing a dummy and bottle... GRRRR)
I was getting so frustrated that i couldnt do anything 4 her. i hoped the panadol would settle her down and she'd sleep... well it did and she slept for all of 10 mins...
she woke up a little happy (like she had a power nap and her battery was recharged) but within another 1/2 hour the happy side ended and she was back to crying. at 3 she ended up doing a poo and seemed to be a bit better but then started again shortly after that. I chucker her in the shower with DP after he mowed the lawn and it calmed her a bit. we had to go out to pick up BIL from Cricket training and the car trip knocked her out for a good 45 min sleep. so all up all day from 8am to 5pm all she slept was 55 mins total. With me being sick, my ears and throat sore plus my pounding head it was torchure. she was ok once we got home i fed her at 7.00 she just laid on the lounge watching the telly then she got grumpy so i moved her to the floor... cried again within 15 mins i gave her some zantac and then fed her 15 min later (she's supposed to have it before every feed for the reflux but hasnt been spewing so i figured i didnt need it... ) She fed again at 9 and went to bed. Last night she woke up at 3, 4 and 5 i fed her at 3 and 4 (thought she may have fallen asleep before she finished her feed. then at 5 i realised she had pooped so changed her wrapped her lifted the basinette up (shes all congested) and she went back to sleep after 15 mins of rocking and patting. DP left for work at 6 and DS was up so i'm knackered. DD is still sleeping which is great (wish ds would sleep next to me but of course wont.)
Mis_tree- hope things go well with seths hips
Deancey- glad to hear the test went well, how long till you find out the results, and Hubba Hubba, YAY on the go go dress... Cant wait to see some pics... hehehe DD is having 7=8 feeds a day still normally yesterday she had 10. She putting on weight not too much so its not like she's overfeeding. Just makes me think that she's not getting enough in the 1 feed so she needs to have another in 2 hours time.
Abb- YAY on hamish saying Dad... my DS said dad 1st too... DD is making the MMM noise but with all her crying she's not saying much these last few days...
Well everyone here are such chatterboxes aren't they, i just can't keep up.
Well i think that abbie is teething, she has been crankier then normal and sometimes her cheeks are soooo red and bright. Poor thing, i also can see teeth coming up down the bottom, so i put some SM33 teething gel on her last night and she hated the taste of it you shoul have seen her face. The teething gel i used is the best stuff i would reccommend it to everyone. I personally used it when one of my wisdom teeth were coming through and within a minute the pain is totally gone, so that is why i use it for abbie so she can get some relief.
Jess maybe you should try sm33 gel you can buy it over the counter at the chemist, it really is great. hope that tihana has a better day today.
Abb you are so lucky abbie is not a big talker, she is a giggler, she giggle at anyone its so cute but i would love for her to talk more!!! she will soon enough
Deancy i am glad your test went well, 70's party sound like heaps of fun!!!
mis tree, i hope that your kids are feeling better today and hopefully his hips will be fine.
Sassy i hope that your holidays come around really quickly for you, i know how hard it is, take care and if you need to vent you can pm me i know where you are coming from
Talking about nappy free time abbie loves is she thinks that she is riding a bike really fast when she has no nappy on, its soooo funny.
What does everyone think about getting babies ears pierced ? My DH wants to get Abbies done but i am very unsure. Any comments are welcome.
Jess you poor thing, you must be so exhausted. Its horrible when you dont know what is wrong with bubs especially when you are unwell yourself. I hope you can get some rest soon. Hamish wouldn't take his dummy either but my sister suggested something her friend told her to do and at first i thought no it wont work but i gave it a go and now he loves it. I just rubbed a little infacol on it to get him to suck it, just the smallest amount, after about a week i stopped and he now takes it without anything, i know alot of people use to use that sugary stuff years ago yuck but i figured it wouldnt hurt. Its just a thought anyway, im not sure but maybe it would work with the bottle too.
