sass- IKWUM about being un-coordinated... (more unfit on my behalf) My muscles let me down...hehe I love the hoola hoop and the step one... I unlocked a boking one on the Fit... Not as good of a workout as the boxing on Wii sports... I'm pro at bowling, tennis and golf... HAHA working on the boxing one...

as for the solids i think your the best judge of what you think bubs is ready for... If you have noticed a change then she mmigt not be ready or could be just adjusting to the change in foods... hard to tell... Like i said i'm not doing it daily just every few days til she gets used to it... Have reduced the amount also.... will start to blend up my own veges as it has to be better for her. I have been looking at this thing from wollies... Its like a netting thing that you put food in and bubs chews and sucks on the net thing and that wasy she cant chock on big bits... anyone got one or know what i'm tallking bout???

i got one of those net things. i put ice cubes in it for jayda she loves it. she likes it so much better then her teething ring cause she gets little bits of water. omg u have to keep puttin ice in it or she cracks it. the whole part of her face around her mouth goes red it is that cold but u try to take it away and there is a fight lol.
my nephew had one and he loves the fruit and SIL used to freeze baby food too like ice blocks for when my older nephew was having a ice cream.

Stupid interwebs! Just lost a big post! Anyways, things have turned to shiat here for the last week or so, and I'm exhausted ~still!~ so I'm going AWOL for a week or so until I get it sorted. I've been advised to try the tough-love routine, to a point. Basically, I knew it would come to this with DS feeding to sleep, but combined with the starting-solids-not-coping-constipation biz and the happy chucking, well, we're all a bit unhappy! I'm not to feed DS between 10pm and 6am (he REALLY doesn't need it, the chubby bubby!) and DP has to get up and do the resettling thing and put up with the screaming. I'm going to sleep in the bungalow!! I'd been trying for ages to get DP to get up thru the night (at least once anyway) and do the resettling but he didn't understand that the smell of milk was causing most of the problems, and he "needed his beauty sleep" lol in order to go to work. So now that someone else has told him, it was all his idea! Men! Blah... wish me luck - I'm going to have a grumpy DP and DS for a while now. But maybe I'll get some sleep.

I'm giving the Farex a rest for a while, as it's not good timing for bubs to be unsettled and constipated. He's turned into a demon-child and screams and kicks and waves his fists around when he's struggling, and when that's going on for 2+ hours before dawn, it's not happy times! He's smacked me in the face that often, and scratched himself so badly we both look dreadful. I'll have to start trying solids again by December, though, as we all have to take anti-malaria medication when we go to Africa, and that means getting DS to swallow half a pill crushed up in something. I'm not doing the jam-it-down-the-throat thing like you do with dogs and cats!!

Anyway, sorry for my rant and no personals this time. Hope you're all having a great week. Be back when I'm a bit saner hopefully!

    Hi All,

It seems we have all had a challenging week with our bubs, hence why I haven't been on for a few days, to tired. Not going to do personals today, just will say hope everyone's bubs go into a better routine so you's can get some much needed rest.

After saying last week we've had sleep throughs til 7am since week 9, with the exception of a couple of days last week where it was 5-5.30am, Friday night that all changed. Cameron woke up at 12.30am - i changed his nappy and rewrapped him and he went back to sleep til 4.30am, where I ended up feeding him, as nothing else seemed to help resettle him this time. So Saturday I was buggered, even DH stayed home from work, but Cameron slept well after the 4.30, so we still decided to take him swimming - which he was ok with.

Swimming was good, they felt he was ready to put his head under, so he did this dive thing, and Cameron's face was like 'whats the big deal' when we were clapping and cheering. He had a little sleep when we got home, but was grumpy when woke up - he sounded in pain, making mmm sounds, as if his mouth was sore and doesn't want to open his mouth. He was gnawing at his fingers again, rosy cheeks and drooling, so think it might be the teeth again.

Because we were buggered we went to bed reasonably early, Cameron went down ok, but woke at 3.30, where I did the change and rewrap, then again at 4.30 - where DH attended to him, then again at 5.30 -where I ended up feeding him. He then woke at 7, where I fed him again, then 9, 11, 2, 4.30 then wake up feed at 8, which meant instead of the usual 5 feeds, we did 7 (very unlike us) - although the 11 and 2 were only little feeds, as he fell asleep while feeding, so I just let him and slipped him into the cot - slept for an hour both times. Was still grumbly when he was awake though, and seemed like he was in pain so decided to give him a little panadol at the 8pm feed, it seemed to have worked.

Thankfully today he only stirred (just quietly talking to himself) when DH left for work at 5am this morning, but went back to sleep after 15mins, and eventually I went in at 6.50am, cause I was bored, and couldn't wait any longer. I couldn't get back to sleep from 5am, so I had just laid there til 6, then got up had breakfast and did a bunch of quiet housework. So far we have been back on our old routine Woohoo! (feed, play for an hour, then sleep for at least an hour), but he is still moaning those mmm. I saw that message about the feeding net thing, I got given one at my baby shower, so got it out and put an ice cube in it - he gnawed on it and it seemed to relieve him.

Well, better go, Cameron's just woken (off to tell him it's not been quite an hour yet!).

    Bye for now

Ok well here i go again, i didnt the longest post this morning and lost it and my net has been down all day so i had to do some housework instead. So now i dont think i will have time for personals, see how i go. Hamish has been great since being on farex other than being a little constipated in the first few days, its been a week now and so far so good but i will stay with just farex for another week or so before introducing the veg. He has been such a great boy lately, haven't had any trouble settling or sleeping, is only having 5 feeds atm and in bed around 8.30 and wakes anytime from 5.30. He has not been awake much today though so i hope he sleeps tonight. I was totally exhausted this morning after working yesterday from9am to 6pm, i got home and felt like i had a ran a marathon. Sass i dont know how you work fulltime and look after jayda i would be a grump all the time. Na Na i hope the tough love works, hopefully it will only take a few days and things will settle down for you. Sleep deprivation can be trying on everyone, i hope things will sort out for you soon. Bec i was told if Hamish wakes up during night to not feed him now he has slept through so many times but i am a sucker and cant let him cry if i know he is hungry, it just seems easier to feed him as he always goes straight back to sleep, i think if it happened all the time i would be different. Cameron is gorgeous i noticed your ticker has changed. Mis tree glas to see you had an event free weekend (exp wise), i hope you enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Hamish has just woke so i had better go.

mis: yeah i got mine from coles. they look kinda like a big dummy but the teat part is a mesh bag.

soes anyone think puttin carrot or anythign liek that in there would work? or only fruit cause its bigger. i mean soft/cooked carrot.

Sass i would put carrot in it, my sis use to put most vegies in them. Mum told me not to introduce fruit before veg as fruit is sweet and sometimes they wont eat veg after having fruit. Personal choice though.

On the back it suggests things like carrots, also suggested frozen grapes and melon (but
I'm not going to try those myself for another few months, but looking forward to it)

NaNa I hope the tough love works for you as it did here. Its hard at first to not offer the boobs in the middle of the night however in the long run you will be thankful. I was told to offer a bottle of cooled boiled water if they wont resettle with dummy. They dont like water as isnt filling so give up getting up as they know they only going to get water.

Liam has been sleeping well. Last feed between 9-11 and then not feeding again till 6-7am. I am however needing to resettle around 4am but I can handle that.
We got Liams passport today, its so cute. We are off to Hawaii on the 25th I cant wait. The flight will be interesting but lets hope both boys sleep most of the way.
    take care

Just a quick update - you know I can't stay away! Last night I fed DS at 7.30 and we put him to bed around 8.30 when he was obviously very tired. He seemed to know something was up, and screamed for ages and ages, and wouldn't calm down with either me or DP. I closed the door and turned the TV up a bit to block out the unbearable noise, and by 10 he was asleep by himself. He woke up at 1.30 and DP resettled him (it took a few attempts) and he's still asleep now! If it weren't for the super-painful BBs and the garbage trucks outside, I'd probably still be asleep now too... DP is feeling a bit wrecked, but he's ecstatic that it's working so well so far (he's so proud of himself!).

Thanks for the support guys. Hope things continue to get better.
Deancey - I'll be interested to know how you go with the plane trip, and adjusting to time differences! A friend of mine just got back from 3 weeks in Europe with her 4-month-old, and said it was easy on the way over, adapting to the change, but coming back took a couple of weeks to get completely back to "normal". Lucky you got a cute passport photo. Aadi's is awful! I can't believe they approved it...

OK, I mean it this time. I have work to do, so I'll check back in next week! Take care everyone!

    morning ladies.

well yesterday was a very emotional day for me yesterday. i ended up breakign down in front of one of the parents in the morning which i was very embaressed about. i was so glad i didnt have jayda to deal with but by the time i finished work i coudl wait to go pick her so give her lots of cuddles and kisses.
i love now that no matter how bad things get just looking into her eyes and getting a cuddle and a big sloopy kiss makes me feel so much better.

i decided i will get some veg over the weekend and puree some up and give her another try. gonna try carrot then beans hows this sound. She hates farex.

nana: i hope things sort themselves out soon. how r the nappies going?

oh jayda is nearly sittin up now. she can sit for about a min but thats if she is leaning forward heaps far.
awww its so cute she is on my lap and she is trying to type. she is getting very very good with her hands now. all we got to work on is getting back off her belly.

who is classing their bub as 5 months. i go off the week not the month. should i go off the month for needles cause i been doing the week.

    wow everyones been chatty...

Sounds like everyone is having a bit of constipation issues with Farex...

NaNa- Hope things work out and the routine sticks... Good that hubby is helping out.. i wish i could get my DP to get up during the night...

Abb- glad things are going well... I'm also introducing the veges before fruit also... i learnt with DS... Loved hus pureed apples, baby jelly's and custards.

Mis- Big hugs... cant believe your XP is still not getting it... GRRRR... The net things can be brought from just about anywhere that has baby things, Kmart, big w, coles wollies, chemists... There Tommy Tippee... They were on special at woolies the other day for bout $6. Usually anywhere from $7-10

Sass- I give DD a carrot stick to suck on and she loves to chew so i think steaming or part boiling them for the net would be great... I also heard frozen fruit work well... (but i wont be doing fruit just yet) I was thinking maybe Pumpkin carrots and sweet potato maybe

Deancey- glad your getting a bit of sleep... The tough love gug sucks at the begining... little miss would cry for a good 1/2 hour to 45 mins before giving up... I tryed the shorter times but she'd just laugh when i came in... (testing her limits... Now i dont go in at all (unless she's REALLY bad) I check on her once i think she's asleep...sometimes she's just laying there quietly. Getting used to it now and i put her in the cot and within 5-15 mins she's asleep...sometimes not even fussing just laying there till she doses off... SOOOO jealous with these holidays... Can i be your stow away./.... hehe

Sass- i read your pther thread... GRRR at MIL... What a B!tch... Your doing well and dont worry about what others think... Like i posted there if you need a chat you have my number.... Or i'll PM you my email... always there for help... Dont beat your self up... we all need help and support even if its just an ear to listen... Maybe you just need a break from everything... You have your hands full. Jayda, working, losing weight, stress from fam, and your DP off work with his back... .maybe get someone to watch jayda on the weekend maybe even just get your hair washed and styled, a manicure and pedi, or even just a stroll round the shops... Get away and have some you time...

Miss- DD wasin bet at 7.30and up at 4am also... nearly sucked my nipple right off... OUCH... she was sucking like she's never had a feed... my nipple was so sore it has a blister.... (she was attached properly just sucking too strong) I finally had to stick my finger in her mouth to release the suction as i couldnt take it anymore 45 mins after she started she was still sucking... I pulled her off and put her back in the cot... she was laughing and singing out... as soon as i put on the mobile she started to sook... it took her 30 mins to stop crying and fighting the sleep... But i stuck to it and refused to go back in and she dosed off herself.. Then slept til 9 this morning... YAY
DP was like "whats wrong with her she's sleeping too much... " he wanted to wake her...she's now had a 2 1/2 hour sleep so VERY happy today... i know it wont last but i'm enjoying the scream free day...

    Hi ladies

Well i can't remember what everyone has been saying. Wel abbie has been a bit challenging lately, she has been sleeping really bad at night, considering that she was sleeping through the night so often. I was demand feeding her during the day but i don't think that this is enough for her, so i have been giving her farex for breakfast and fruit for either lunch or afternoon tea sort of thing. She is still constantly waking in the night like an hour after she has been fed and won't settle till i put her back on me and sucking for like 2 minutes then going back to sleep, so i have been considering this for a few weeks now so i i think that i am going to stop breast feeding. I am so unsure and don't know if it is the right decision but i just can;t handle no sleep at night time. She likes the bottle and it really does not bother her if she has boobie or not only at night time to go back to sleep. I am a little bit hesatant but i think its the right decision.

Its been so long since i have been in here and its great to hear everyone is going well. Wow on some babies nearly sitting up abbie is not even close.
Well take care and i will really try and get back in for another chat.
    Thanks Nikki

    Hi All,

Just a quick one as a bit tired this week still. Cameron has also still been waking up in the middle of the night, last night was 2am and 4am, screaming -is it possible he could be having nightmares or something? He just needs to be picked up for a min then rewrap and back in his cot - where he falls back to sleep with no problems. I don't need to feed him. I mentioned it to my mothers group who said there babies did the wake up thing for about 2-3 weeks around the 4 month mark too. I did read in that Baby Love book it is common to happen. The clinic nurse said to one of the other ladies they don't usually need that extra feed if their getting enough during the day and putting on the weight.

Question - Cameron hasn't pooped since Monday morning, and that wasn't a big one either (but did 5 big ones on Sunday - sorry if that's TMI), and it seems like he is hesitant to feed, and he wants to stretch out, like he has a pain in his tummy. Any ideas what I could do to help him poop? I bought some prune juice for me to drink today, hoping it will go through the breastmilk and will give him some boiled water tomorrow. We haven't tried solids yet. Any other suggestions?

Well better go, want an early night. Hope everyone is well.

    Bye for now,

bec: try some brown sugar in water
only need about 10 to 20mls. did this with dd and she was pooping like crazy after. or coloxcyl drops work well too.

Nikki- sorry to hear things arent going too well... DD had a bad period for few weeks of not sleeping... The sub feed may be enough to fill her up more and help her settle at night are you thinking EBM or formula??? Have you tried adding a thickner to the EBM... might help her feel fuller??? Just a thought. i think you have to do what you feel is best for you and Abbie... really hope things work out for you...

Bec- DD has a week or so of interupted routine and waking at night etc... Just gotten her back into her old routine of sleeping throu with the occasional wake up at about 3-5am but most of the time she's sleepingfrom 8-7am now. As for the pooping BF babies can go up to 14 days without pooping... i am always worried about DD as she can go a week... i started farex and constipated her and she didnt go for 10 days... If he isnt on solids maybe try some cooled boiled water. i tried the coloxyl drops but they didnt work well (same as the infants friend) work ok when she's not TOO bound up but she was bad. so no more farex... She's going well on the pureed veges i have been making the last 2 days... did a HORRID one this morning... cant believe how much they smell now with solid food. EWWWEEE!!!... my GP said i could try pear juice (like the baby ones but i diluted it down 1 part juice to 3 parts boiled water. (i just heated it up a bit to help DD drink some... (she spat most of it out cos she's fussy but it helped a bit.)

Well best be off, I got up at 6 this morning got dressed by that time DD woke up i fed her and while DP was home i took her for a 45 min walk. i got back and DS was awake and i have done nothing but clean and feed. Cant stand this mess anymore and sick of feeling fat and blah... so will finnish cleaning up and back for another walk this afternoon... Need to drop 30kg's well i'd like to be my pre kids weight again... it will be a challange but i need to do it... no time limit noweekly weight loss goal just starting a fresh attitude. eat healthy be more active type thing. (we'll see how long it lasts..)
