Morning
Going to start Hamish o n some sweet potato today, he has had farex for 2 weeks now with no problems so i cooked up some sweet potato last night and portioned it out for the freezer. I feel so guilty when eating now as he just stares at you as if to say i want some of that. its so cute. I feed hamish his solids around lunch time, usually an hour after a breastfeed, and i have been giving him a drink of boiled water with his feed aswell, i was told it helps the digestion.
Cricket well i hate bl**dy cricket always have, i am a true afl fan here. Dp has never played before either he is a motor head, does up old cars and has a drag car at the moment. The only reason he is playing is a favour to my brother inlaw and nephews to keep the country cricket team from folding, so he is doing his country men duty.lol
My family are a very sporty, we all played basketball, tennis etc and the boys always played football and cricket, poor dp as none of them know anything about cars or motorbikes so he is a bit left out. I watched for about an hour, fed ds in the car and a few of the wifes were going into town for a coffee so we joined them and come back with about half an hour to go. hehe
It will be interesting to see what Hamish will favour when he is older, Dp bought an old car when we had ds and is doing it up, he calls it Hamish's car but i think he thought by saying that it would soften me up as i didn't really want another car taking up all the room in the garage.
I also had a bad experience with breastfeeding in public, last week i was out shopping at the local shopping centre with a friend, anyway i went to feed ds in mothers room but outside the door was the yellow cleaning in progress sign. I new he wouldnt wait much longer so we found a discreet seat (bench) just in a corner of the centre, i began feeding and i half draped a light blanket around ds so no one could see, and this stupid B*@ch of a woman came out of the shop she was working in and proceded to tell me that i was not allowed to feed here and that there are mothers rooms for that, i was in shock and didn't say anything but my friend did lol, and i think everyone shopping would have heard. I think i was more embarassed as people then started to notice where as before no one would have noticed if the woman had off just left us alone. Grrrrrr afterwards i was angry but at the time i think i was just shocked. My friend has since phoned the store and informed the manager of the womans rudeness etc.
Sorry this post as turned into a bit of a vent.....
jess: i wasnt in bathurst just went to my parents place to watch it. Jayda screams when she first see's MIL too. and i always get the its cause she never see's me. but i think it is the smell of smoke. my bro smokes too.
I know wat u ment about the solids so dont worry. she is just a pig. thats wat is so annoying she really wants them but her body wont let her. she cracks it when we eat now. we have ended up puttin simpsons on and facing her to the tv not us, just so we can eat with out the crying.
i usually just give jayda a rusk to chew on for a bit and when it starts gettin soft i chuck it. mum let her eat nearly a whole one yesterday so we were up all night with a screaming baby sooo fun NOT.
Abb: how did hamish go when u first started solids was there any problems like pains in the tummy or anything?
bec:good to hear the pooping is improving. jayda is kinda sitting too. she can sit by her self for a bit but she leabs forward heaps far. and when she is in the pram or sittin on the loung she will bring herself forward to try to sit by herself.
so cant wait till the weekend. lol now i know y people never have kids close together. u dont need protection when u have a baby cause u never get a chance to do anything. everytime DH and i go to do something she will wake up or scream or something. lol
sarah: how is everything going u havnt been in much hope everything is well.
to anyone else i forgot sorry and i hope everythign is going well.
just popping in for a quick moment, to let you know - the tooth is out there!!
Sleeping problems are sorting themselves out as I think DS just knew he needed some extra booby to get the little tooth to pop out! Last night he woke twice, and after a little feed he was off to sleep again with no trouble at all, and this morning there's a tooth poking thru the gum. The diarrhea that comes with the teething is annoying, but DS is super-happy still, and has had good sleeps today. I'm feeding him lots today tho, (trying to get him "tanked") so he'll sleep more at night without needing a feed. Maybe...
Discussed all kinds of sleep suggestions at my playgroup this morning, but we're all in the same situation, and trying out everything. Instinct is working well!
OK, gotta go! BBL
seriously thou.... YAY on the tooth and about bubs settling better... really hope it continues... Think he's the 1st with a tooth????(others correct if i'm wrong)
Sass- never thought of the smoke issue??? My MIL smokes 16mg B&H's... Maybe give her the shew sack while you 2 are eating???? I found DD doesnt get actual food but just the juices.. (i did pumpkin today and she LOVED IT) Made some ice cube trays full of pureed vege's.... Pumpkin 1st for few days worth then added 1 vege (carrot) for few days worth then a 3rd vege (sweet potato)... *wink wink* at the weekend... so we all know now why the drink is necessary...
I PM'd Sarah and Juliette and Zander are going well... She's doing reno's with the house so she's been super busy...
Mis_t- just wanted to Say So happy you have 4 months of peace... enjoy hun...
Abb- My DP used to do up cars also... i put my foot down and we finally one car now... He used to use the same excuse... Its JORDAN's car... How dare that women say that to you... i would have told her its discrimination... its no difference if you were sitting there eating so why cant bubs have a feed... worst part when its a WOMAN... ARRRGGHHH that irritated the hell out of me... Parent room or not i'll feed my baby when ever and where ever the hell i like... i was shocked the 1st time also.. next time i wont be so shocked and reserved... I'll blast the next person who comment on me BF again...
Mis tree - thanks, dp bought hamish an elmo chair the other day, kinda thought it could have waited til christmas especially seeing he cant sit up yet. But oh well we dont buy him much.
Sass - Hamish has had no problems with solids except the first few days he was a little constipated then i was told to offer him a little boiled water after the solids and since doing this he has been fine. I only gave him one teaspoon for first few days then increased to one and half after 3 days then to 2 teaspoons after a week. I gave him farex for 2 weeks around lunchtime and hour after a breastfeed, then yesterday i changed and give him his farex mid morning and sweet potato late afternoon.
Na na-great news on the tooth, hopefully you may get some sleep now its finally through, well until the next one comes anyway.lol I bet Aadi looks gorgeous with a little tooth. lol at getting him tanked so he sleeps, but i pretty much use same method, still feed Hamish every 3 hours during day even with solids he is a guts.
Jess - i think i was super shocked as i really didnt think people thought that way anymore let alone a female. Jess on the car thing i have also put my foot down with the car thing, he did have 3 and a motorbike so he has done well keeping it to one project car, and to be honest we make alot of money from them so i cant be that hard on him, but the one we have now is a keeper, bought for only $1000 and have been offered 10 times that and its not even close to fi nished yet.
Ok i will be back later gtg to school this morning with dd to get test results.
OK so i have decided ill wait a month so she is 6 months and then ill only give her a tiny bit to start off with.
OMG i feel so good this morning. i didnt start till 830 because the twins have their skool orientaion today. i got to do eveyrthign this morning with out rushing and get some exercise in without kids hanging off me and wanting to use the wii or treadmill aswell.
i think next yr will be so much easier when i drop my hrs back to 830 all the time.
nana: woo on the tooth. do u think maybe thats y there was so much trouble the last few weeks.
well everyone is here now so i better get going. hope everyone has a good day.
Jess - 'scuse the double post! BB and net was having teething issues as well, I swear!!
yes, I think all the problems we've been having with sleep and the screaming were tooth-related. And to get back to an earlier post, I WISH I had someone who could help out for an hour or two so I could get a nap, but my only family is my mum and she's in QLD. I disowned my dad when DS was 3 days old (long story). All DP's family are overseas, along with most of our friends and social network! We've been back in Melbourne for a couple of years now, but working our butts off, so not a lot of network happening here unfortunately! It's amazing how isolated it can be in a big city! Anyway, we get by.
Last night I gave DS a dreamfeed around 10.30 and he only woke once thru the night. DP actually got up before me and tried to resettle him (I think he was sleepwalking!) but he wouldn't settle so he put him in bed next to me. After a big feed we both fell asleep and everything is back to "normal" it seems. I'm still going to try and cut down this night-time feeding business very soon, though, as there's no real need for it at his age (and size! chubby!) but I'll wait a few days and see how we go with this tooth. There's probably another one coming up real soon! It looks a bit funny with just one!
Sassy- DS is the same with food, carries on and fusses if we eat in front of him. I'm going to try again with the solids soon, but you're right - it can wait till their bodies are better able to handle it. So great that you got that extra hour this morning! It's amazing what you can get done in such a short time when you never usually get it! You wont know yourself when you get that time back to yourself!
Abb - it's amazing, women these days seem so detatched from reality! It's so hard to have a comeback to such ridiculous comments about and behaviour towards breastfeeding, especially when you tend to feel a bit vulnerable, but WTF - are we devolving? Is it too much TV? sheesh... Anyway, hope your DD gets good results on her entrance exam!! Hamish looks sooooo cute!
OK, I'm off to the movies now! Sorry to those I missed - thinking of ya!
well well it is ery quiet in here today. RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH lol. sorry coudlnt help myself.
jayda is chomping her gums so much, she is chewing on her bottom lip and does really big chewing movements.
wat else.......... SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad it is thursday. i have had such a full on week.
the ceo rang me today to answer a email that i sent and while i was talking i asked abotut he jobs i appiled for. he said that 1 of them i didnt get cause they needed someone that had experience in the pay system thing because the chick has left and everyone else is just filling in which in a pita cause my pay has been late for the last 5 weeks but that is another story and i am getting side track here. umm the other one he will be doing interviews for the end of next week. so hopefully that means i get a interveiw or he would prob of told me then that i didnt get it right?
so bored................
2 more sleeps till out night away cant wait i just hope jayda be's good.
mum is already complainign that she has a sore back and asked me to vacume for her tomoz so she doesnt hurt it too much for when she looks after jayda. she is so annoyign with bloody guilt trips. if i didnt need the night away so bad i would of told her to shove it.
Hi ladies sorry I have been MIA I have been mega busy with work and organising for our holiday, we leave on saturday and SO much still to organise. I think we will be late nigth packing on friday night as we havent really started yet.
I have exciting news, I got accepting into my nursing course for next year so I am going to be part time student, part time worker and full time mum OMG I am going to be busy but I am looking forward to the challenge.
Liam is going great guns with the solids, we are still on apple cereal, sweet corn and potatoe. He was consitpated for 3 days however he has certainly made up for it now LOL.He has is still having 5 feeds a day however he is having a late one about 11ish and then going thru to 7am which is perfect.
Abb OMG I think I would have decked the shop lady for telling you you couldnt feed there. I HATE people who carry on about BFing in public. I would have told her to check with the cops as it certainly isnt illegal to BF anyway..... Ignorant people really get under my skin.
NaNa I am glad Aadis sleep probs are sorting themselves out.
Sassy I really hope you have a nice night away, you deserve it.
Sorry to those I have missed so much to do with so little time left.
XX
NaNa- its ok... you deserve a double post , finally getting some sleep and the news of Aadi's 1st tooth.
Sass- Raaaahhhhh back.. hehe hope your night out goes according to plans I'm sure Jayda will be fine...
Deancey- Glad things are going well still ana YAY on the news... your going to be one busy mumma... Wish i could find the time to shave my legs let alone study... and work....
Miss- YAY on stanky's tooth also... Sounds like its that time for teeth... next it'll be comando crawling and then sitting unassisted. ARRRGGGHHHH where did the time go... my baby girl will be wanting to wear lipstick before i know it...
well gtg.. Little miss is already in bed couldnt keep her eyes open...we had a rough night last night DD just didnt want to sleep. But 1 night isnt so bad... hopefully she gets some rest tonight
misstree: jayda is rolling from back to belly has been for prob a month or more now. she can sit but only when she leans forward heaps and she lifts her head heaps tryint o sit but gets to lazy to get further then the head lift lol
Going to be lazy again - not doing personals. It has been a rather exhausting few days here. Cameron has been grumbly again, particularly crying around feed time. Yesterday I gave in a did expressed bottles all day, as I felt he hadn't had good feeds since Tuesday. He always takes the bottles ok. So far today I have I bf, but he has only drained 1 side at each feed, so might do another bottle next feed to. Not sure if he has a cold or possibly getting a tooth. As once again he is drooling big time, rosy cheeks, and gnawing so hard on everything from his fingers, my fingers and anything else he gets his hands on. When he gnaws on my finger I kinda feel a few little hard spots on his gums. But he has also been sneezing a fair bit and doing little coughs. It is so frustrating when they can't tell you whats wrong. It is also frustrating with the weather going from stinking hot to storming to windy to overcast and cold, no wonder we're feeling a little off.
At least he had been sleeping ok for the last week, except for last night, where he woke at 12.45, but I just rewrapped him and he went back to sleep til 6, where he just talks on and off to himself til about 6.45.
I didn't sleep to well last night anyway, as couldn't get my cousin out of my mind, she lost her baby yesterday, she was 13 weeks pregnant. So sad and it was a girl - she has a 3 year old boy, but this was going to be their last attempt at ICSI. They do have 1 frozen, but as this one had chromosome problems, it's highly possible that one could have to and age is against them. She is just reminding herself of how lucky she is to have had her healthy little boy (also via ICSI).
On a more positive note, Cameron's pooping issues seemed to be resolved, so we might try him on the farex this weekend or during next week. He happily licked my banana the other day and wanted the whole thing in his mouth, so he is obviously not concerned with new flavours.
Cameron is rolling from back onto his belly, but only seems to do this in his cot. He half rolls when on the floor, so I think those rollovers were kinda accidents, but he has done it 5 times though. If I get him into position he can roll from belly to back, but I just can't see him doing it himself in the near future. I too am wondering if he will go straight to walking, missing the whole rollover and crawling. I can hold his hands and he can walk across the room, one foot in front of the other, and we have helped him stand by himself, usually for about 5 seconds. He is also constantly trying to sit up, I hold his hands and he pulls himself up. He is always so smiley and proud of himself when he walks, stands or sits up. But he'll probably rollover and crawl when I least expect it!
We will be just lying low this weekend, as Indy is on which makes everywhere a little more hectic. Hope eveyone has a great weekend. Going to have some lunch now before the afternoon challenge of feeding begin.
Ok well i am going to join in and not do personals as such today being lazy and actually a little grumpy today but thats another thread altogether.
Hamish rolls both ways now and i can put him on one side of lounge room and in 10 mins he is up the other. He rolls everywhere but also does this strange thing on his back, he pushes off the floor with his feet and can manage to move metres away it is really funny to watch. He can also sit for ages but is very bent over, cant wait until he can sit it will make it easier i think as he get sick of laying on the floor although my sis gave us a bouncy thing he sits and plays in it for ages now as he can finally reach the toys around it.
Hamish slept for 3 1/2 hours today, i actually woke him up as he hadnt been fed for 41/2 hours and i wasn't sure what to do as he had already slept an hour this morning. Might be having a growth spurt or something, just hope he sleeps tonight now.
He has only been having 4 breast feeds some days but i don think that is enough what do you girls think?
Congrats on the teeth i think we will have one very soon, hamish has very rosey cheeks and the drooling has increased( if that was possble) also he is always chomping on his fingers.
Have a grat night away sass.
Hope you enjoy your holiday Deancey, and congrats on the nursing, i am going to an information session next week about doing a refresher course as i myself may go back to nursing.
NaNa - cute i know he is just adorable. lol He is such a happy boy too, its getting harder to avoid strangers now as he smiles at everyone. Aadi is gorgeous too, chubby cheeks are so gorgeous, I would have said something to ignorant woman but i was in shock. Dd got excellent results on exam, she qualifys for the excelarated learning program but we are unsure yet if she will do it. alot to discuss.
Mis - yay on the tooth, great news, i hope you have a nice uninterrupted weekend.
Jess - I hope Jordan is ok and you find out wat is causing his rash, hope you get some sleep tonight.
Bec - I was up there couple of years ago when indy was on, it was a nightmare, i would lie low also. Have a great weekend.
Oh well so much for not doing personal.lol
Anyway hi to anyone i may have missed, and i hope everyone has a great weekend.
Well DD is rolling both ways now and is waking up at night crying as she has rolled over.... She pulls herself up with the play matt (the bars that go over) but doesnt quite have the strength to sit up fully, just pulls up like little crunches... hehe... if i prop her up with a pillow she can pull herself up to a sitting position but soon flops over and i dnt think its good for her back to be doing it so i dont allow it i put her back down... she loves standing up but i dont want her to injure herself so i dont do it much... She has just started using her knees while on her belly and she lifts up her bottom hasnt got the hands yet so i think she'll be a crawler... (ds wasnt as soon as he could sit he was pulling himself up on furniture and wlking round it (8 months) Her noises are getting SO cute and funny... she sings and has just started making a BA sound... she watched your mouth for AGES trying to work out how to make new sounds... so fascinated with people these days.
Miss- I'm sure stanky will get there... ias soon as i stopped worrying bout it she started rolling EVERYWHERE...
Sass- have a great night
Bec- Sorry to hear bout your cousin... RIP little one... Glad Cams pooping issies are all fixed (hope you dont mind me typing Cam i know some people dont like shortened versions of their names) ...
Abb- 4 BF seems like not much but is he having 2 sides per feed??? And he's having solids now is it only 1 solid feed a day or 2???
Were still doing 1 solid feed but little miss has gone off it again so i just follow her lead if she wants it then i feed her if not then its just booby... not pushing the issue... I brought a new bottle type thing today and YAY she finally had a few sucks... Its like a teat but looks like a straw... Tommy tippee... (you get 3 teats, a bottle teat, ssippy cup teat and the straw looking one)
Jess - Cam is fine, I call him that occassionally myself, particularly if I'm texting. That was another reason why I wanted to call him Cameron. I wonder if Tiahna's trying to say 'bubba'. That was my younger brother's first word, possibly because I would always say it to him (apparently). Cameron also sings, it can get quite ear piercing, but it's so cute. I sing alot of nursery rhymes to him to, and he seems to concentrate hard on what i'm singing (no matter how bad it sounds)
Abb - I was also wondering if I could do 4 feeds occassionally too. Usually I wake him for a feed about 8pm to do the 5th feed, but wonder if sometimes I could let him sleep (especially if he's had a grumpy day), then if he did wake himself then I would feed him. If he is continuing to put on the weight, is happy and nappy results are fine - I don't see why not. Let me know how you go with and what others think.
Cameron did a rollover from back to belly this arvo, stayed on his belly for about 10seconds, then rolled back over. He did this a couple of times. He was on his playmat/jungle gym thing which has arches (sorry it's hard to explain, hopefully you know what I mean) where he would use his feet to help push back over, so it wasn't totally unaided (don't think I can use this date in his baby books, cause he kinda cheated), but it looks like he is getting the idea.
gee, where have I been? we've been keeping busy, mainly to tire out DS so he'll sleep, but the teething thing is still preventing it somewhat... It's not too bad though. No more night feeds lately, but I have to kick DP to get him to get up and resettle DS quickly and before he starts to wail. He just doesn't have that "mummy hearing" yet!
Aadi's been rolling for a while, but lots more lately. It's always from back to belly, and it's becoming a real challenge to keep track of him. The other day I changed his nappy on the floor at the cinema, looked up over the seat to see Brad Pitt get shot (I know, tragic...) and looked back down and DS is GONE!! He's rolled under the seat and is laughing at the lady sitting behind me! Cheeky kid. Only thing is, he can't quite roll back yet. He's sitting up unassisted quite well, but does start to lean forward after a few minutes or he twists around and falls on his side. He's a real squirmer. I had to do a quick change on the back seat of the car this morning and it was nearly a disaster! Just as I'm trying to stop kiddo's bare bum from sliding onto the floor the parking inspector knocks on the window to tell me the meter's aboout to expire and my phone rings. Like I need the extra challenge in my day! Ha, such fun!
Anyway, it looks like our trip's back on now, and DP and I had 5 needles each this morning (OUCH!!) and got a stack of really evil-smelling insect repellent stuff so DS will be moderately protected from mozzies and Yellow Fever, malaria, whatever... we're not going on safari, or into the jungle or anything, and we're going to a clean, stable country but it just happens to be in the danger-zone for Yellow fever so we have to take extra extra precautions. So now, after we pack all that stuff, and Christmas presents for all the family, it wont leave much space for taking anything else!
OK, after all my babbling I've run out of time for personals so I'll be back later. Hope you're all having a great weekend!
I feel silly coming here, seeing how close you lot are. But I was wondering, has anyone bought their baby a Baby Walker? I recently purchased a baby walker for the purpose to strength Yasmeenia's leg muscles and standing. Also, I am sick of the same routine every day. Wake up, sitting position while in the pram, tummy time and laying down on her back. So I decided change might be good for her. She doesn't spend more than 10-12 minutes on the walker or sometimes longer; depending on her mood. She thoroughly enjoys herself, playing with toys or talking to me.
