Babies Born May 16th - 31st 2008 #3

Yasmeena is a little naughty, she loves sleeping on the breast even after feeding well. It has become a very bad habit. But at the same time I'm not willing to change it. Because she is too comfortable. She has yet to roll. Hates laying down but loves sitting up, although she cannot sit by herself, just yet. I haven't tried feeding her solids. I think I will wait when she is 6 months. I had wanted to start feeding her solids at 4 months but my child health nurse told me it has the potential to ruin or setup their organs. Besides, she is feeding well, so there is no need to rush. Other than that, am well Nana. Very proud of myself, because Yasmeena has not being sick. 4 healthy months. Nana, what can your lovely baby boy do? Yasmeena too is a co-sleeper. Soon to be placed in her cot. She has too many night feeds and wakes up 2-3 times a night, sometimes wanting to play and other times wanting to feed. During her playtimes at 2-3am she demands to be taken to the living room. She already knows the difference between the bedroom and the living spare. :wall: Very frustarting when I desperately need to sleep. I have to take her there otherwise she will cry the house down and wake up hubby, who has to be at work by 7am.

Yes, very similar situation here. Aadi feeds to sleep a lot. I know it's naughty, but what can I do? I have put Aadi into his cot, which is still considered co-sleeping I think, because it's right next to my bed, but most nights he ends up sleeping in our bed anyway because we both fall asleep while feeding, which can be 3 times a night. He doesn't necessarily want to play at 2-3 in the morning, but he does take a long time to resettle then, and likes to squeal. He has a bit of trouble burping, and gets tummy pains which make him kick and scratch and punch! I'd prefer it if he wanted to play!
He loves to be sitting up, and can stay upright unassisted for a few minutes now, provided he has a toy to play with, or I sit him in front of the full-length mirror. He loes laughing at his reflection and touching hands with the glass! He has rolled a few times, but it was just a fluke, I think. I gave him his first taste of rice cereal this morning, and he really enjoyed it. He had a big feed afterwards as well, but chucked a lot later. Typical. I'll take it slow with the food, as his digestive system is a bit troublesome. People seem really surprised when I tell them he is only 4 months old, as he is SO big now!
You should be very proud of yourself.It's wonderful to have a happy, healthy baby. It's not to be taken for granted, and good health is a blessing. It was awful when Aadi got a cold, so it would be devastating to have something worse. Also, my DP loves the name Yasmeena, and if we had've had a girl that's what we would have called her (my DP's name is arabic, starts with "Yas").

Jess - it's so cute when they really play with their toys, and not just trying to consume them! yeah, daylight savings has thrown us out of whack too.

Yasmeenia is a pretty name. It means Jasmin flower. Spelt in numerous ways; Jasmin, Yasmin, Yasmeen, Yasmeenia, Yasmina. NaNa, it your partners name Yasin or Yasir? ;)

Ok i post without personals and it comes back to bit me... Ok here goes.

Bec- DD doesnt show many tired signs untill she's over tired... then the rubbing eyes, pulling ears and yawning start. Then she starts with the tensing up and arching her back, screaming etc... I think cos everyday is different she doesnt really have a routine so i am trying to start getting a bit more regular with her... I feed play and then put her in her cot... If she's tired she cries a little and it gets more and more.... whats the words... well the crys get quieter as she drifts of and she'll give out a few and nods off then cries a bit again butyou can tell she's sleepy as she cant stay awake to even let out an AAA within few minutes.... If she isnt realdy she'll scream bloody murder.
Glad swiming is going well... Also quite a few bubbas now either ready or gtting there with solids now... I started on farex few teaspoons for mid morning/lunch time after a failed dinner time one where she woke up in the night pooping (never done that) My Mil brought me the custard one like the farex. I have used it few times (you mix it with EBM or formula) DD had her first vege's this long weekend and LOVED them (after a few funny faces) so now i'm sticking with vege's except i'll make them myself as i'm sure they'll be better for her. (might helpwith her irregular bowel movements also)

Deancey- Wii fit is GREAT.... I didntthink itwould be such a great workout and its FUN... Hoola hooping really works your sides, tummy, back and legs Also sounds like you had a greak weekend... A break is good but so nice when theycome back.

Miss_t- i struggle holding a 6.5kg bag of worms... my back isnt as good as itused to be after 2 labours with all back pains.

Girl22- YAY :leap: we finally found out DD's name... Its beautiful. Such a pretty name. Glad things are going so well... My DD loves sleeping on the breast also. i try to take her off and put her down but sometimes theyneed that little more comfort and also it saves a lot of crying time for me so i let it slip every now and then. and NaNa answereed the q aboutthe mayo so no need to add...

NaNa- Dont you just love those noisy neighbours... I abused my DP for mowing the lawn the other morning at 8am... he said it was the only time he could do it but i made him shut it off and i finnished it at 10am. No manners ... lol. But then again all of our street get worken up early from the cars, bikes, bisses and trucks that speed past at all hours of the day... wish i had of known that before we brought. Oh well were getting used to it. As for sharp things... i know i could see it happening like in slow motion :o even now its still sensitive to touch and really hurts still i learnt my lesson from now on i'll get the butcher to fillet the breasts (even thou there not as good as Moi ... ;)
DD wakes up at about 4-6am for a feed and takes a while to resettle also... doesnt help when DP likes to use this time to give morning kisses and talk to her before he goes to work... i think his alarm wakes her up. but i dont mind as i wrote before she has developed 'Daddy eyes" watches him, her face lights up when she see's him and gosh you should hear her when he talks to her... My gosh the little happy squeel and laugh... along with the sparkly eyes and ear to ear grin... butter wouldnt melt in her mouth... i can see this will be an issue for me later on. :rolleyes:

Hey everyone...

Just a quick one for me this morning, we got a heap of new furniture on the weekend, dining setting, tv unit, new bed for dd, book case etc and my house is a disaster. We are having about 12 friends over friday night for drinks and then going to watch friends band play so i hope i can get all this furniture old and new organised by then. I cant wait to have a night out but am anxious about leaving ds and also about having a potential hang over. I will be watching my drinks but still as i havent drank for a very long time i am sure i will not be well on Saturday.
Hamish is such a good boy he has been waking at 8am now since daylight savings so i hope it continues. We started him on baby rice yesterday, he had only a teaspoon as didnt want to over do it for the first time, he loved it so much. I will just keep him on in for a week or so before introducing vegetables. I hope everyone is well and might be back for personals when i am feeding next.

girl22 - yeah, I guess if you know what you're talking about, it's not hard to guess! I'm hoping to get DS along to an arabic-speaking playgroup when he's older. I'm also wanting to learn the language, but I have to get better at French first, because although Yasser was born in Lebanon, he left when the war started and was raised speaking French and technically that's his first language, and he only re-learned arabic when he was 21 but can't read or write it! Considering he's also fluent in English and Spanish, it's no big deal... but I'd like DS to have the language skills also. inshallah...

Jess - girl22 and I just started our own little egg-mayonnaise forum. Wanna join?? :lol: Hope your cut's healing! No need to sacrifice yourself for the sake of well-filleted chicken!! lol! And yeah, the neighbours here are bogans, but it's a million times better than the apartment I was in before. We shared a dividing wall (bedroom, no less!) with the garbage chute for the entire building of 100 apartments. The noise was atrocious, and the smell was worse. Seriously unfit for habitation. We could hear the neighbours farting! Anyway... DS just lights up when DP gets home too, and the squeals of joy are so wonderful. It's great, and I make sure I meet him at the door so if he's had a hard day at work, everything just disappears when he sees that super-gorgeous smile. And I can forget about how atrocious my day has been because they're happy. It doesn't make the mountains of laundry disappear, but it makes me feel less grumpy about it!

Abb - We posted at the same time! We got new furniture on the weekend too! I'm still assembling it... started with the farex yesterday too, but Aadi's sleeping now, so I'll give it to him again later maybe. Vegies soon! Yay! Good luck for your big night on Friday - go easy on the alcohol, I reckon it'll hit us twice as hard now seeing as it's been so long between drinks, IYKWIM! Even coffee would spin me out, I reckon.
OK, I have 2 mothers groups to go to today. A new one since I moved (even tho it's only a km away!) so that will be interesting. Aadi will be a monster compared to any newborns, he looks like he's about 6-7 months old. But it's a good opportunity to meet up with some new people in my area. we put jayda in her own room last ngiht she did really well. it was harder for me lol.
she slept all night. waiting a few more weeks then ill start jayda on solids again.

Well Today i did it... took the plunge and got DD's ears pierced... She cried after the 1st one and the seconds she cried more but after 15 mons she was fine... I felt so bad i got mine done also... :jawdrop: It hurts... i'd rather get a tattoo... If i'd gotten mine done 1st i wouldnt have done DD's... :cry: Still stinging and throbbing but i know tomorrow will be better. (not sure if mine hurt cos it was 2nd holes and its further back???DD is now sleeping so she must be ok.

NaNa and Abb- YAY on the new furniture. I love buying new things... and Abb- yay on starting the farex.

NaNa- no way i would have putup with that. (appartment) i bet ur glad to be in the house now.

Sass- A little constipation after the 1st lot but i think i made it too thick. so i made it a little runnier and since no probs... I did farex for about 2 weeks (not daily cos i kept forgetting) started veges and boy oh boy have the poops changed... EWWWEEE....Is Jayda getting constipated????
Mis-tree- havent tried the pureed fruit just yet. only the packet baby custard that you make with EBM or formula and vege's of and the farex. i try to mix it up a bitonly used the custard once as i DP made it up and thought it was farex... (i put them in containers and didnt lable it)

I brought a sippy bottle today and hopefully DD will drink milk from it... she wont take any bottles so this is my last option or i'll bne off to work this week or next to ask for the rest of my 12 months off... (till april next yr)

Well I decided last night that Liam can just sleep thru the night... I am sick of getting up once or twice a night and it is killing me. I am tired all the time and going to bed so early to make up for it. So its tough love now. I am going to feed him before I go to bed whether he likes it or not and then he wont be fed again till 6.30-7am. I will just try and perserve with the dummy. I think he is old enough to cut that middle night feed. ( I AM SURE I WILL CAVE BUT POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOR NOW) :)

I will let you know how I go.

Hamish has his last feed at around 8.30/9 and in bed by 9.30 he sleeps all night wakes anytime from 6.30am usually around 7.30 and has done for over a month with exception of weekend away.

you're kidding, right?? I haven't had a full night's sleep since before Aadi was born! I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I may not do so again for ??? months/years... I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. That said, my friend's son, who was born the day after Aadi, sleeps 10-12 hours a night, sometimes more! I swear she's giving him valium, or sedatives! But she can't get him to sleep more than half an hour at a time during the day. There is just no way that I could go back to work because of this sleep deprivation, and I'm really glad I don't have to.
I would love for Aadi to sleep more than 4-5 hours at a time, but I don't know if I could ignore the squealing and crying that would happen, especially since he's still sleeping in our room!

Jess - wow! I bet Tiahna looks gorgeous with her ears pierced, even if it was painful. Let me know how you go with the sippy cup. DS wont take a bottle either, and I'd thought about getting one of them soon. We tried the farex again today, and so far so good.

Deancey - We have been very fortunate that Cameron has slept well almost from the beginning. From week 3 he slept 7-8 hrs from 5.30-6pm, (which was fine as I was so buggered I was going to bed at 7.30 myself), but from about week 8 I started waking him and feeding him with an express bm bottle usually about 8pm, and since week 9 he has slept through til 6.30-7am. We always keep the same routine and so far it is working for us. I also make sure he gets a sleep between every feed during the day, for minimum of 1hr (we do 5 feeds), as I was told at a parent class about sleeping this can help. Cameron has always been in his own room and we learnt not to jump up to check on him at every cry, as sometimes it only lasted 10-15seconds, then he would go back to sleep. We also use that Johnson's Bedtime bath and then massage with the bedtime oil at a bath that's usually about 6pm - as it seems to help relax him.

Jess - Yay! on the ear piercings. Hope they stop hurting, I'm sure they will - I've have had a few piercings done, and I don't think it matters where on the ears that gets pierced, they all sting a bit - I found the ones up the top of my ear took a little longer to heal though. How did the sippy bottle go? Ah... take the whole 12months off anyway -we can all struggle with money together!

MisTree- I know what you mean on the talking - every time I go to post there's usually so many personals to do, I spend a good 30mins trying to say hello to everyone. Don't worry about the not hearing Seth if he was in another room, Cameron has been in his own room from the beginning, with door closed over, and I usually have 1 earplug in (because DH snores or breaths heavy, which really bug me) and I still hear Cameron cry. But then again there is no rush for you to put him in his own room, we mainly did it this way so DH could get a good night sleep (as he is a truck driver and avoiding fatigue is a big issue in his job).

NaNa - I'm sure you've mentioned it, but are you in a house now? It's good to have space and not being able to hear the neighbours fart. We lived in a duplex for about 9 months and that was bad enough, could hear everything - particuarly annoying was their smoke alarm going off (probably from burning toast). I know what you mean about Aadi's face lighting up when DP comes home - Cameron does the same thing. I look forward to it as well, one of the highlights of the day. He also reacts the same when my mum comes down every Wednesday.

Abb - Hope you have a nice night out. Who will be the lucky person who'll get to babysit? I know my mum and MIL are looking forward that day. Are you still BF? Just remember to drink a glass of water between every alcholic beverage. Yay on the new furniture, you probably feel like your in almost a new home. It's nice to have a change.

Girl22 - all that talk about Egg and mayonaise - now I really want an egg and mayonnaise sandwich - might have to boil some eggs in the morning so I can have it for lunch tomorrow. I used to have lots of egg sandwiches while pregnant, particularly in the arvo to keep the sickness at bay - geez that brings back memories. Yasmeena is such a pretty name.

Well I think I've covered everyone. Nothing much has happened in the last few days. Although in saying that Cameron sleeps til 6.30-7am, he has been waking at 5am for the last few days, but he usually just talks to himself and seems to drift back to sleep and stir again every 30mins til 7am. It has been really hot here and the sun is coming up earlier and earlier. This morning he did a little cry at 6 and I yelled out "Cam it's not 7 o'clock yet, another hour please" - and next thing I knew it was 7. I was a little extra tired this morning, as I kept waking up really hot last night, every 2hrs, taking a little to get back to sleep each time.

Well, going to get ready for bed now.

jess: yeah jayda got constipated bad when i first tried her on food so i left it for a little bit i am slowly starting her again now. it is hard cause she would eat a whole jar if i kept feedign her lol.

Well DH is off work at the mo cause he slipped a disc in his back yesterday at work. it is so bad because he isnt aloud to pick up jayda for a min of 4 weeks. last night was hard for me. Dh usually helps witht he dressing after bath/shower and gives her, her last bottle. it takes him like 15 min to actually get his bum on the lounge. OH and then there is the whole males i am going to die when i am sick thing. dont get me wrong i knwo it would kill but he would act the same if it was a paper cut lol.

Bec: lucky u with cam sleeping till 6/7. jayda sleeps through prob once a month if we r lucky lol.

Deancey: i have tried the i am not getting up thing thinkin that she will eventually go back to sleep. NOOOOO WAYYYY. if we get her when she first makes a noise she will sleep while drinking her bottle and be fine when we put her back in the cot. if we let her go longer then say 2 min it is a fight to get her back to sleep.

I am waiting for my application to come for a new job i rang up for yesterday. it is still daycare but it is in the office. i really want it. DH is so set that i am going to get it lol.

Well i spoke to soon. Hamish woke at 4.30 this morning and wouldnt settle without a feed but he went straight back down and slept until 7 and fed and back in bed again. I think he woke because he only had 5 feeds yesterday not 6? He had alot of sleeps too, he seems to go longer between feeds during the day since having farex. When does everyone else give there food? I have been doing it mid morning about n hour after a feed. I was told not to give it late in the day because they can get a pain.

Bec - the new furniture is great, makes you feel good, i keep walking past each room now and i have made a list of what i need to complete the look now.lol My mum is baby sitting, she can't wait to have him all to her self, i have been there a couple of times this week and put him in the cot at her place for a nap just to get use to the room. He slept 2 hours there yesterday so i think he will be fine. I am the one that is a bit anxious to leave him, i am sure he will be fine. I am still feeding, have got 4 bottles done and hope to do another one i hope this will be enough, have a sachet of formula for back up.

NaNa - i hope you get some sleep soon, my nephew(11 months) still doesnt sleep through the night and my sis has decided not to go back to work aswell. She is always saying to me can we swap children, she has 3 other boys and they slept from 6 weeks so we are all bewildered at why Charlie wakes but i think some babys just wake up. Maybe once Aadi is having food he will settle for you.

Deancey - are you all well again? It must be frustrating with no sleep and working, i can imagine how exhausted you must be, poor thing. I hope the tough love works, i know i would cave also.

Jess - how are the piercings? I hope the pain has settles down. How is the sippy cup going?
Mis tree - I hope you have had time to enjoy with Seth lately and your exp has left you alone for a few days as i know your weekend was a little rough. It took me i think 6 months to put dd in a room on her own but this time i put hamish in his room around 2 months and he sleeps heaps better, dp snores terrible so i think being in another room was the best option, sometimes i wish i was in there too.lol

I am working today so dp has taken a carers day to look after hamish. I had my hair done yesterday omg it feels fabulous and looks ok too. Kept the length just changed the colour and had a style cut into it instead of just drab old thing it was. Breast feeding has made my hair fuzzy and dry.yuck. Best be off to get ready for work:(

Morning all, well DD went well last night no issues with the earings so i'm happy. Last night she woke up at 1 30am for a feed (oh no hope were not back to this.) and again at 6.30 (normal time but she was soaked through her nappy and clothes) She woke up again at 9 am and is happily rolling round on thr floor and squeeling and singing out...

Deancey- i guess the only thing you can do is try. Sending you all my positive thoughts. Might take a while be he may get used to not having a feed. DD slept throu from 9-6 from 3 weeks til 11 then had few weeksof waking again 1-3 times (near killed me) now she's ready for bed at 7-7.30 (daylight savings) and waking at 5-6.30am but occasionally like last night she'll have 1 wake up but i guess its not too bad cos i'm not working. She doesnt sleep much during the day only little cat naps and we have only just recently since starting solds managed a 1 1/2-2-2 1/2 hour sleep during the day. Good luck.

NaNa- I tried the sippy cup yesterday. Its a Tommy tippee bottle with handles but a shoft spout teat. all she did was chew away at it got some milk out and spatt it. She wont sck on it just yet but its a start. no crying so thats good... As soon as you try putting a bottle in her mouth the screaming starts and you get no where. So i'm going to try a little milk in it every day and see how she goes. she wants to hold it herself so i let her play with it and she lifts it up and puts it in her mouth so maybe she might start to like it that way.

Bec- yeah i think i'll be going in to work and TELLING them i need the rest of the time off... I'm entitled to it and i can change my return date once. we'll see how i go this week or next week. We had some warm weather here but its dissapeared and has gotten very cold and windy at night which is why i left DD in our room and havent started in her cot yet. will on the weekend.

Sass- oh poor jayda... maybe make the farex a bit runnier. or try the vegies... i only give a small amount like 2 norml sized teaspoons which is a few of her spoons. Babbies are a bit like puppies, they'll eat until there sick. DD could eat more solids but i figured best start with small amounts to begin with... Now were on the vegies im using the Nutrica 4 months ones. i only give her 1/3 of the jar per day. which is about 2 teaspoons. Glad i got the ears done actually. she hasnt touched them once. Not even bothering her its like she doesnt know there even there. Which is why i got them done now to avoid infection from her dribbly hands touching them. IKWUM about males over reacting... :rolleyes: my DP is the same when he gets sick... even if its a bug we all get his is worse. Hope Trev gets better tho...

Abb- i have tried night time solids (like when we have dinner) made DD wake up with a poosplosion... Have tried breakfast but usually its a busy time for us so now i do a vege feed at about 11.30-12 then she sleeps for a good 1 1/2 hours maybe 2 (most 2 1//2 h) I also feed her solid first then top up with milk to kind of make it less likly to constipate her. Good luck with working today and YAY on getting your hair done makes you feel heaps better.. I need mine done bad. Its falling out everywhere i need to vacuum everyday to pick up all the hair.

You are not alone ladies. Yasmeenia, too is very talkative to hubby when he comes home. I think she is just glad to hear his voice. One thing is for sure, she loves hearing it. When she is about to go to sleep while feeding and hubby says something, she turns around. Mind you, this little lady has her eyes half closes. Sometimes I have to remind him not to say anything and not to speak while am trying to put her to sleep. I guess babies love hearing a man's voice. Last week a friend and I went out for lunch. Yasmeenia hardly spoke to her. Instead she studied her. She did manage to say only a few words to my friend. When he came home and she was her daddy, she spoke to him immediately. Lol. His alarm clock use to wake her up too but now she has become the alarm clock and wakes up before it sets off. Since 29th of May I have not had a 6 hour sleep.

Lol@Nana. Yes inshallah. I am not fluent in Arabic. I can only read a few words. But hubby is way better than me. :doh: However, I will try to re-learn it once I have completed my studies. I remember my sister?s baby slept from 7pm-12am. Wake up for a feed, back to sleep and wake up at 6am. I guess it will be a long time coming before you and I can experience that :doh:

Bec7 :D. I never liked Egg salad sandwich until I gave birth. That was the only hospital food I choose to eat.
