aww hugs amy!!!! Don't beat youself up! Just about every mummy I know will tell a similar story or two if they have more than one kid about stuff like that. It just happens and you learn something from it. Now you know. I's in the hand book........ you know the one they don't give you. We all just learn as we go on. You have never been the mother of two kids this age before. Your doing a great job!

AFM- exhausted here.... Jemima is really having a hard time. she gets 3/4 thru a feed pulls off and screams! I don't know if it is silent reflux or if she is having gas pain cos she is sucking in more air when feeding due to her runny nose. It's heart breaking. I have to stand up and walk, jiggle, make soothing noises whilst re offering the boob to my now screaming daughter and not get distressed myself or it all just gets harder. As a consequence she has eaten less so my boobs are more full and i have lumps everywhere. I am afraid of getting mastitis again and am expressing for comfort.... sigh....

Anyway poor little mite isn't getting any better but her nose isn't getting worse. I hope it isn't reflux but have given her baeurs stomach calm which may have helped.... or else it is just my standing, jiggling, soothing whilst walking breast feeding act that is helping... not sure

Bella - Kyson used to do the exact same thing at about the same age. It was heartbreaking! Breastfeeding was meant to be a nice calm and loving experience, and I felt like it was in some way hurting him. All I could think of at the time was wind, so I would burp him lots and lots, but it never made much of a difference. He's much better now. He very rarely ever does it anymore, and never to the extreme that he used to. When he was at his worst I would actually feed him while bouncing on the fitball! Now I tend to think he gets upset once the breast starts getting less full and he has to work a bit harder to get the milk. I think he prefers it when the milk is just pouring into his mouth and he can be lazy. Do you find that Jem is a bit calmer if you swap her to the fuller breast? Hopefully she sort of grows out of it like Kyson is.

Amy - Woopsies happen and you shouldn't beat yourself up over it. When you first had Nat you were learning to be a mummy, and now that you have Phoebs you are learning to be a mummy of two! I seriously have so much respect for you and think you are doing a marvelous job! It's good that you had a little cry to let out the emotions (it must have been scary), but now you should try to put it behind you and focus on all the wonderful things you are doing for your little girls.

Bridg - I read on facebook about the twins getting new doona covers and sleeping like logs, Lol! Good work!

Jacinta - It's so funny when you see a toddler trying to put up a baby (as well as scary hehe). They tend to wrap their arms around their belly and the little babies arms end up around their own ears!

Naomi - Congrats to your friend! I love the name. At one point I had the name Kayden on our baby list, but DH wasn't a fan, and then I was worried about how many Kayden's, Brayden's, Jayden's etc are around now. But I still love the name

BG - Good to hear that E is sleeping better during the day. Do you find that she is happier when she is awake because she's getting more sleep? Kyson has a ripper of a nap yesterday morning. About 20 minutes before I thought he was going to go to sleep, I took him for a long walk in the pram and he came back fast asleep. Then I just wheeled his pram into the bedroom and let him sleep in it. He stayed asleep for almost 2 hours! That's his longest nap not spent on mummy, hehe.


Do you girls think I should shrink our baby list down to only those that post in this thread? It seems a little silly to have others listed that are posting in other groups...

KL - E was a nightmare sooooooo bad after her big sleeps! she didn't like waking up - normally wakes up so happy but was just a foul tempered rat bag! i "think" it's daddy being home that is doing it - she's not sleeping as long in the morning while he's home, so needs the day sleep - but even 2 hours during the day doesn't make up for the 3 or four she's missing in the morning. she slept better this morning cos i kicked DH out earlier! hopefully it will pay off - so far so good - she's watched some of the footy replay and is now going crook at daddy while she plays with his hands lol

i think you could probably prune the list a bit if other girls are posting elsewhere - it's confusing enough keeping track of the actively posting chickies and their bubbas lol

Bella - E does the screaming thing sometimes too - it's heartbreaking - esp when she tries to reattach but is crying so hard she can't - then when she does she sobs the whole time she's feeding. for her it's almost always wind - poor poppet just won't burp no matter how many times we try (and we tell her the whole time she needs to burp, and praise her when she does!)

Bella - thats sucks re J getting upset at the boob, Bailey is pretty lazy on the boob now and comes off and fussed until I put him on the other boob, he is a bit of a lazy sucker now and only stays on longer once he has taken the 'faster' flowing first milk off both boobs, It seemed to me that his 'sucking' changed about the 10-12 week mark, DH also noticed it as Bailey sucks his finger (instead of dummy) and mentioned that he was sucking different

J - if you want another baby then go for it, only you will know when you are ready! Personally I cant comprehend it for myself, LOL. I think it will be 2011 before we even THINK about it

Bridg - good to hear from you, glad you were lurking even with no time to post

AFU - On Thursday at our mothers group I was talking to the MW about Baileys neck development, he still doesn't lift up his head during tummy time, only when I pull him up from laying on his back, anyway after voicing my concerns she agreed thats its something he should be starting to do by now so suggested I go back to my Paed, so I have booked an appt but cant get in until mid Sept, hopefully Bailey will be doing it by then!! I have to take him to the GP on tues for his 4 month needles to will talk to the GP also (have to get another referral to the paed anyway as the one from birth only lasted 3 months as with most specialist referrals)

Naomi: Congrats to your friend Our friends have a Kaden - I hadn't heard the name or any like it before they had their little boy, but I like it.
Bummer about the wait for the paed. Do you have any gymberoo classes in your area? Some of them are really good, run by physios (or at least the people running it have been trained by physios). My SIL took her twins there for 12 months cause they were prem... It was just a fun way of helping them with their motor skills cause they were so early and a bit behind. Plus they've got different things to play with - the same old toys at home can get a bit boring, LOL!
Bridg: I'm glad you popped in - sorry things are so hectic for you. We're honoured that you'd drop in given how busy you are!
Bella: Sounds rough, mate. The others have given you some good advice. Phoebe does fuss at the breast occasionally, but almost always its because she's tired (usually the last feed/s of the day). She's not a good burper though, so I do use infacol when she's distressed. So hard to know what's going on with them though. Hope you find out soon and that those lumps go away and don't give you any mastitis-type trouble.
Is her runny nose thick and goopy, or watery? If its goopy, I can't recommend Fess enough. It has been awesome for the occasions when Phoebe's nose is blocked or green and goopy. But she hasn't been really sick though - only yucky in the nose every now and again.
Krystie: Cool about Kyson's nap! I love taking the girls in the stroller - it almost always sends them off. (Natty sometimes doesn't sleep, but she's still happy nonetheless... and CONTAINED, LOL!) I'm bummed though because we have steps leading up to our front door, so I can't leave them asleep when we get home.
BG: Sorry E hasn't been as happy without her morning lie-in. They are so sensitive to change, hey. Glad the fresh air is doing you guys good.

Amy - just looked up Gymberoo, there is one about 5 mins away, just near my work, I will ring them in the morning and book in - GREAT idea, they have sessions on Fri and Sat so I will try to get in Thanks for the tip!

Well I bought some formula today, I really have mixed feelings abou this,but I just cant seem to express anything more than 10ml anymore and its stressing me out big time. We have a wedding this weekend and Bailey is staying at Mums (overnight for the first time - Bailey will be fine as he LOVES Nan, but I'll probably sook and miss him like crazy). Anyway, re the expressing, I have about 800ml in the freezer from almost a month ago when I could express, but Mum will need enough for about 6-7 feeds so its not enough. I have been expressing for the last few days and have got only 40mls total, most of it gets lost in the pump. So rather than continuing to stress about it I have decided that if he has a few formula feeds here and there, its not going to hurt, although I did want to exclusively BF until he started solids at 6mths. I gave him a bottle at 4pm today to see if he'd drink it, and the little traitor happily drank 160mls, I got a bit teary, silly I know Anyway just gave him a BF before bed and he happily sucked away so my goal is to ensure FF are few and far between so he doesn't get lazy re the boob. I feel guilty though, but I need to be practical too...... aaaah bloody mother guilt!!

Hey Girls!

I'm a slacko I know.

Cara is 11 weeks old now and rolled over for the first time today under her playgym. She did it about 3 times.

She went ok with her needles. She was a bit irritable the first couple of days. I gave her panadol the first night. My Mum told me of how when she was growing up, all these kids had polio and other things. Mum was 6 when immunisation came in.

I'm finding it a bit easier now. Cara can occupy herself for a short while. I still used my dryer for the clothes heaps!! I hate to think of the electricity bill..but I pay it fortnightly anyway lol.

Weather is warming up here..yay...spring is on its way!!

Bought Cara a wiggles playpen for $69! at kmart the other week!! Awesome. Was only one left.

My babyhood rocking chair broke!! I can't believe it. It was reduced floor stock, but geez 3mths use is not much!! I bought a cane one off oztion for $30. It's doing the job.

Laura goes outside a lot more now. I bought her a CARS car and ramp from target at the toy sale. She loves it.

ANyone else still in their maternity pants? Man..I can't be bothered wearing anything else. I have not lost any weight yet either lol...still 85kg.

Amy: Don't feel bad. Things happen. Having had 4 kids...I have had the odd scare here and there. You're a good Mum.

isorted out js clothes a little while ago and now hes started fitting 00 so i put away the clothes that dont fit and even organised clothes for our next bub for hospital coz i want the next bub to wear the same thing home as j lol i feel a bit silly next time im gonna use bonds suits from a younger age coz i didnt realise how good they are lol

finally i have 5 mins to myself so i figured i should et u all know im alive lol Been busy with uni just had exams and its right back into it. All is well here. Andy is 4 mths on friday omg, Ashy is doing well getting big and much better with andy loves him to pieces he does. Andy has just started solids and is much better for it, not so many bottles and a much happier lil bubb too. ash has been playing up a bit a tea times not eating properly so i dont know what to do there guess ill just have too be a bit more tough with him.

I spoke too soon, Bailey woke from his morning nap all grissly and moany - LOL - Oh well, Funny story - I put him to bed about an hour ago and went in to see if he was asleep and he appeared to be then his little eyes sprung open - so I dropped to the floor commando style in an effort for him not to see me and decide to stay awake, I kept creeping my head up to see if he'd closed his eyes again (they were that sleepy half open) so ended up crawling out of the room slithering like a snake so he didn't see me - I was trying not to PMSL the whole time hahahahahahaha I am such a geek, the things we do to get our babies to sleep. After all that effort he decided he WAS awake so I had to get him up, and his just gone down for a nap now. Ahhh well I amused myself during this process!!

Well I took the little guy to be weighed etc and he is indeed a 'little guy'. He's still in the 3-10 percentile (as he was at birth), but he has been steadily gaining an average of 150gm per week - which the CYH nurse said was fine. I have my paed appt tomorrow to discuss his motor skills - eg lifting head from tummy time etc (as he is 'just' lifts his head). He is weighing in at 5900gms and 59cm long, I guess the good thing about my little boy is we are getting lots of wear out of his 000 clothes, his worn a few 00 now, I think we will start transitioning into those clothes into the coming weeks as a few of his clothes are now getting a bit on the tight side. Is Bailey the smallest baby - what are the rest of the babies weighing in at currently?

Bella - I think thats a great idea re the BM/colostrum, good on you! If I had a premmie and couldn't feed them I would want to use a milk bank so its great to hear that you have helped another baby!

Nicky - wow at the 2010 thread, it seriously doesn't seem 12 months ago does it? GL with the weight loss, I am on a health kick atm, but I am cheating a bit too - LOL, I am hopeless

DOH - the little guy is awake already - feed time, back later for some more persies

Naomi - There is a Coles right next to Southern Cross station, underneath DFO really which will be perfect for buying bits and pieces for picnic.

Bella - You are welcome to come to mine for dinner on Sunday evening, or will come out to dinner with you somewhere. Will have a think about what might be interesting for the Monday - depends on the weather - I enjoy the ferry trip to Williamstown along the river on a nice day. As you are here for a couple of days I would prob bring a stroller for when you are tired, carrying CJ already wears me out and makes me feel really hot I wonder what will be like in Nov. You are welcome to stay with us if you like but I only have a blow up mattress to offer you am afraid (Jemima would get a better deal as have a portacot :-)). I think it is great you gave your colostrum and breast milk, although I did taste my frozen milk the other day and it tastes off (apparently totally normal) I am amazed CJ drinks it!

Niadla - I was thinking of the cafe near gate A but setting up on the gardens behind it so are not near the water (Tennyson Lawn Area) - but let me know if you think is still too close too the water? The reason I liked that area is because for people on public transport is an easy walk from Richmond station with a pram, whereas the other end is a hike up the hill from a tram (which aren't all pram friendly) and also is good parking on Alexandra avenue for people in cars. There is loads of time for me to scope out another are if think that area isn't great for the toddlers. I also saw there was a May 2010 thread amazing! Actually I checked and was Sep 17th last year I made my first BB post.

Vic - thats handy that there is a Coles nearby, you are a wealth of Melb info - legend! I might have to nominate something reatively 'unperishable' for me to purchase on the morning - Perhaps Bella, Amy and I could get some nice Crusty bread and some nibbles - eg chips, nuts, lollies and some nice savoury bickies/dried fruit to go with Bella's cheeses etc. I make a killer potato salad but it just wont work long distance LOL Bella - you can add the above to the 'list' for me!! Bella I do have a fold up 'cold bag' I can pop in my nappy bag to bring for us to pop anything a bit 'perishable' in, let me know if you want me to bring it I also have this Green Bag that is actually a little backpack which folds up to nothing so will bring that so we can transport our stuff easily, also Baileys stroller has a pretty big basket underneath

Jess - glad to hear you and your boys are doing well. I have been thinking about solids - going to start them at 6 months but have been looking through the CYH website as they have excellent info of what foods to introduce and when. Although I am not looking forward to the mess, I am interested to see what Bailey will eat

Cathy - I agree with Bella - you are an amazing Mum bringing up your 4 beautiful kids, sorry to hear about the break up, I wish yoy love and happiness
