Babies born May 16th-31st 2009 #3

BG - I must have posted at the same time. Yeah the photobook software is 'album printer', I have used it before to make up a tribute book for a work collegue who passed away and when we got the actual book I was really impressed. The creative memories stuff is great, The scrapbook/pregnancy journal I mad was with that stuff (not via computer/online though, just with the book/supplies from Kmart)

Bailey has a slight temp today, perhaps because of the immunisations yesterday? But I think he also seems to have a cough so perhaps a sore throat, he is not interested in his dummy today (which makes settling interesting) Poor Tyke. We slept well though unlike the prev night :)

Oh Bridg, that sounds frustrating. I was going to suggest the wonder week as Naomi has?
BG: Ditto - good on you for feeding at the pub, LOL! I was proud of myself for feeding at a cafe at the shops the other day. I was with Mum so she could keep an eye on Natty for me. Feeding while sitting down in a public place is one thing, but feeding while chasing and yelling at your toddler in a public place is quite another, LOL!
Vic: Sorry, Bridg just reminded me about your stroller cover qn. I didn't have one for Natty as the last stroller we had had a good sun shade. She did get annoyed by flies at times, but it wasn't an issue really. I mean, she played in the back yard and got annoyed by flies and occasionally bitten by mozzies there more than in the stroller, KWIM?
I just bought a mesh cover for this stroller though. It was exxy but worth it as the stroller is very open at the back and didn't provide Phoebe with any shade. I was worried about her getting burnt on our walks when it starts getting hotter.

Phoebe has been quite unsettled this morning (from around 4am). We are both getting colds, but I think she has an upset tum as well. She keeps almost throwing up... like gagging and then swallowing it back down. Sorry, TMI, but it's sad. And its keeping her awake which is a pain.

Naomi: Sorry about Bailey's temp. Could be a reaction. Is he otherwise happy? (except for the dummy thing?) Hope he's back to his normal happy self soon.

Amy he seems a bit out of sorts - not terribly upset, but not so smiley as normal - almost sad - awwwww!!

Have put him down for a nap - hopefully that helps

Vic - I dont have a stroller cover for bugs either, I figure I can just use some of that roll-on BUG OFF stuff if needed. (As long as I roll it on parts of him that he cant lick!!) Funnily though last night I could here this buzzing sound through the monitor, when I went into Baileys room there was this MASSIVE blow fly, I shoed it out of his room and sprayed it in another part of the house, I guess you cant protect them even indoors LOL

Naomi- Thanks for that. I should get my Baby Love book out and have a read. Baileys temp would more than likey be from his injections. We ended up with a huge blow fly in the house over the weekend, which I thought was strange, but Leigh caught it, so luckily it wasnt here for long.

BG- A friend of mine is a Creative Memories consultant person. Good to hear the feeding at the pub was successful. I have an infantino sling for Logan. I also have a ring sling. If u google them both, u will be able to see what they are like. If u think they will help u, then Im happy to lend them to u, as Logan hates the slings. Logan is sleeping ok at night too, which is the main thing.

Amy- Well done feeding in public too. It is good that ur Mum was there to watch Natty for u. Phoebe doesnt have reflux does she? Thats the only thing I can think of which would be making her gag and be in pain.

AFU, Logan hasnt been too bad today. Been a bit unsettled and feeding crazy again. The day he had his needles, he fed every 3 hrs on the dot, and slept between feeds. He coped alot better than I thought he would. Will be interesting to see if he is the same after the next lot.

Bridg - i've started with the digi scrapping cos a friend is a consultant and gave me the software - i know a couple of them, but the one locally is useless - went to a party about the digital stuff the other day and i knew more from playing with it for half an hour than she had picked up in two days of "training"! it's so easy to use though, so i'm happy to do my own thing and learn it. the friend from Melb has nearly finished her "training" so is going to come and show us stuff when we're ready - which is really awesome.

just googled the slings - how generous are the sizes - i'm not small fry by any means - so i need a really generous size... E doesn't seem all that keen on another we were loaned - but it's really not a good fit for anyone i don't think! she will go in the HAB occassionally - i just have to spend some time and watch the DVD to work out how to feed in it..

AFU - E is having a kip at the moment (yay!). we just spent an hour or so outside in the garden with DH (he's home for a few hours - another yay!) and she ended up deciding it was sleep time but refused to have any blankets around her so we had to come inside again. ah well, them's the breaks!

not much else happening here - DH has just said he's going to find food for us to snack on - woot!

Just quickly- Amy phoebe is probably gagging with an upset tummy if she has a cold and is swallowing lots of mucous. It is really common for little ones to get a head cold and then start vomiting as well. I used to see it at work all the time. best thing for it at her age is lots of cuddles and feed whenever she wants.

BG- I feed in my sling all the time... mine is like a hug-a-bub. just loosen the knot at the back and pull on the shoulder straps to lengthen them. it brings the bub down lower and they are at the same height as ur boobs... or u can lay the sideways which i can't explain. More often than not when i am out in public Jemima wants to feed and I just drop her down lower and way she goes! No one can even see:)

Naomi- I checked out the pics of Bailey and his socks. Funny as!

Just wondering if anyone has a quick fix for severe eczema?? (For me)

Bridg: Quickest fix I can think of is a corticosteroid cream. (Go to the drs for it. Or if it's not too bad you can get Dermaid over the counter I think.) Then preventative stuff is the best (MooGoo is fantastic). Natty currently has it on her shoulder (she always gets it on her trunk - not the usual places of elbows and knees!) and I think it's starting to get infected. *sigh* With DH bathing her he often doesn't put on cream because she is a bit of a pain about it. Hope yours isn't too uncomfortable and clears up soon.
Naomi: I LOVE Bailey's socks. I think he looks tops :)
Bella: You are right. She spewed after I wrote that post yesterday and there was quite a lot of green in there with the milk. Poor baby, she's swallowing so much snot. :( At least she has been sleeping pretty well, so hopefully that is helping her to get better.
BG: Hope you and E enjoyed the quality time with your DH. We had my DH home from work yesterday and now that he's feeling better it was actually quite nice!

I'm crook. Feeling dizzy at times, which is a new cold symptom for me. Was so dizzy last night it made me feel nausious, so I just plonked myself straight into bed. I'm really hoping this cold will run it's course quickly. Dunno how I'm going to manage with Natty if I can't stand up straight! I think Mum's going to come help me today as she's still too snotty to send to CC.

Bridg - hope the eczema clears up for you

Naomi the sock matching is so cute!! and yay at having socks that match - some of the colors of boys clothes are really hard to match! i kinda try the same with E - even if she has tights on to keep her warm, she has socks on, so they have to match lol. mum went nuts and bought all these stripey and spotty socks but they only get worn under her sleep suits cos they don't match her clothes hehehe. if i have a pair of those on her with pants that dont' cover them, she has to have booties on... just cos she's small doesn't mean she has to look daggy!

Amy - hope you're feeling better babe. dizzy spells aren't good at all - esp when you have kidlets to look after! they're the first sign for me that i haven't been eating right (back to LowGI after eating out) or when i'm getting sick or too tired. i'm guessing yours is probably tiredness related. rest when you can - i really hope your mum can help with Natty today and you and Pheobe take it easy

AFU - E is still sleeping in our bed - she's going through another wonder week i think. very clingy, won't sleep unless snuggled to me (with boob in mouth - cuddles alone aren't enough!) except overnight and through the morning - so i'm getting as much out of her as possible at the moment. she is such a sweet kid, it's hard hearing her so distressed. her cry seems to have changed the last couple of days too - it's no longer a baby-baby cry - when she's really upset, it's like a serious little lady cry! it's heart breaking - i moved her from one side of the bed this morning to the other to feed her on opposite side, and the cry just about killed me! DH is back at work - might be home tomorrow - might not be home for a week. i hate this unpredictability!

bg - jamies cry did that at about the same time i can almost hear him without the baby moniter on

Hi everyone!!! I've been reading but haven't been able to keep up lately. Been very very busy.
All is giong pretty well. DS has decided that 5.30am is the new cool wake up time so that's a tad frustrating, but if I put him in the cot, he'll happily sleep until 8-8.30. Booger boy. The cot leaves his room this week, bound for ours so that chubba can use it.
Allira's going really well! She's been really good.. still sleeping so well overnight and feeding quite well.
I really don't have much to report! Very boring here really.
I will only be able to make the 2nd meet as I've got alot on in the coming months too.... sorry about that girls. I will be at the second meet through with the whole family so should be fun.

Off to get lunch organised but I'll be back soon!

jamie has the tiniest amount of cradle cap its like flakey and a yellowy colour any ideas?

mix bicarb and water (so you have a soft paste) and gently massage it where the craddle cap is next bath - works a treat for Bailey

Oooh, haven't heard that remedy before, Naomi! Must give it a try as Phoebe has a little patch on her left temple that just won't budge! I use sorbelene cream, leave it on overnight to soften the crusts then shampoo off the next day with a good ole scrub and comb. Worked fine with Natty but Phoebe has this one stubborn spot!

Hi girls.

I used Vaseline for Logans cradle cap. I have only put it on once, and he hasnt had any since. In the Baby Love book, Robin actually recommends picking it.

Amy- I have tried every cream, lotion and potion under the sun for the eczema. Its only flared up again since Ive had Logan. Its all down my legs, all on my hands, inside of elbows, backs of knees, and noticed just before that its starting to spread to my shoulders now. *sigh* Its very severe, so Im thinking I may have to go to the Doctors and get some cortisone tablets or injections. Re the dizzy, it may be Vertigo. I sometimes get it, and my Mum had it when she had me and my sister. Its a sign that ur tired or doing too much.

BG- Im with u on the Wonder Week thing. Logan is going through it too. (He was born a day after Emerald).

Nicky- Dont u just love it when they have their 'fun' wake up times?

AFU, Logan is feeding every hour. Only drinking 60 or so mls at a time. Im also stressed as this eczema is causing me grief. I havent been able to wear my jewellery for ages, so I feel kinda naked without it.

Amy - I found that remedy on BB - I actually make the paste pretty sloppy, it gently massages the cradle cap off, I had to do it over a few days (as Bailey had a fair bit), but it worked

Bridg - far out - is the eczema itchy? Does it flare up if you are tired/stressed etc

Bailey has cried most of today, so heartbreaking as I tried everything to help him, infacol, panandol, teething gel, rocking, patting, burping, feeding, wrapping, distraction, my whole arsenal of tricks, at our mothers group he finally slept for an hour, then started crying again, I took him for a walk in the pram thinking it might help, he cried the whole way. I think he was struggling with wind, I gave him a deep relaxation bath before and it seemed to help and the little tyke has just exhausted himself so went to sleep at the boob - thank god, I think he and I were over it. He cries like such a little boy now, and its heartbreaking as its a real sad 'help me' cry, it makes me cry every time I hear it - BG re Es cry changing, I know what you mean, Baileys changed around 12 weeks I think - went from that young baby cry to a little person cry - and boy the real tears come with it too

We have the wedding this weekend, am gearing up to leave Bailey with Mum overnight, I am so torn between looking forward to it and having a night off (even though I'll probably need to express overnight) and worrying about missing him - DOH. Last night I tried on all my dresses to make sure I had something to wear to the wedding, lucky everything fits. It was nice to put on a pretty dress and some heels, rather than my 'Mummy uniform' of jeans, sneakers and BF friendly tops/tracksuit tops

What are you guys doing for fathers day for your New Dads? I am thinking of taking Sean out for the day to a nice pub for lunch and then a walk down at Semaphore beach (there is a nice 'boardwalk' that is pram friendly). Not 100% sure on a gift yet but thinking of a stubby holder with that nice photo of him and Bailey on it, and I saw this beautiful book about the joys of being a Dad, I might go back and get it

Naomi - i hear you on the crting being heartbreaking. had a go at my mum today. she came out, and changed e's nappy while she was here. e got upset and mum said to her that she could go to mummy soon but had to calm down for granma first. i told mum to pull her head in, it wasnt her call to tell e when she could or couldnt come to me - if i want mum to calm her first it will be ME that says it. esp in a wonder week, i'm not doing that to my girl. she wanted me. get over it mum!

Amy- that's no good with being dizzy! Poor you, you just don't get to take a break and be sick when your a mummy do you! Are you feeling nauseous at the same time? Does it get worse when you move your head? You've mentioned I think that you had a cold so I wonder if you have an ear infection which is causing labrynthisis, which effects you balance... Just a thought. often see it in relation to a cold and dizziness... the key about it is if it makes it worse if you move your head too quickly for the fluid inside your ear to catch up... therefore making you dizzy due to the imbalance. Anyway I hope you get better soon..

Naomi- so sorry to hear you had a hard day today :grouphug: Hope tommorow is better for both of you. There is nothing worse than knowing they r hurting and feeling powerless to stop it all. I think i will be doing b'fast in bed for fathers day.... then unfortuntely i am off to canberra for the home birth rally the next day.

Bridg- the steriod cream Amy suggested is the way to go. the only other thing is to use hypo allergenic products on your body. I have been told that radient is the laundry powder best for people with eczema find best.. thats all i got

BG- sorry u had a run in with ur mum today:( It's hard isn't it.

AFM- J's still having more disturbed sleep, but nearly over the snotty nose.. sigh... I am knackered tho. Going back to MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) tomorrow in the morning, where I hope she won't pick up another one! J is getting so smiley now that it is seriously cute! She has to have her needles next week:( not looking forward to that..

Thanks girls for the concern over the dizzy thing - I forgot to post that I hadn't had any of it yesterday, it was just the evening before. Felt slightly woozy yesterday in the morning, but gradually better throughout the day. Now I've just got a stupid stuffed up nose. So I'm heaps better, thanks! Not sure what it was, but I'm glad it's over :)

Bridg: Yeeeooowww @ the eczema! Sounds awful, mate. I had it bad on my hands and feet at the start of my pregnancy and it was horrid - interrupts your sleep and everything. Definitely get something from the docs then if its that bad. You don't want to just suffer through.
Naomi: Sorry Bailey had a sad day yesterday. I hope today's heaps better. It is so hard not knowing what's going on. There are definitely some days Phoebe cries more than others, and it's just what she does - doesn't seem to make a difference what I do for her. Natty was the same. But it is horrible nonetheless. Hope you're doing ok.
Not sure about fathers' day... I'll have to hunt down a pressie sometime next week :o We'll probably go for a picnic at the lake - it seems to be our favourite activity these days. Your ideas sound great!
BG: I hope things are ok with your mum. I hate it when Mums step out of line. I have been so lucky this time that Mum and I are getting on just fine. But in the early days with Natty we'd clash a fair bit. It's sad, cause this is the time in our lives when we need them to be totally supportive.
Bella: Glad Jemima is feeling better. Oh, how wonderful are the smiles?!? Phoebe often turns her head away when she smiles, like she's shy or something. It's hard to explain, but it is so adorable. Is your DH going with you and J for the shots? Its hard for the mummy when they get them :(
Jacinta: Oh, I'm sorry to hear about the fight. That sucks. Is there any way they will reconcile? Is your friend definitely going to treat you differently because of it? Sometimes it seems like all is lost but things can be patched up... Seems a shame to lose such an important friend... I hope it works out ok for you. And in time for your birthday. :hug:

The monitor keeps buzzing in from Phoebe's room - she's awake but must just be chatting cause I can't hear any crying. Natty is being so cute this morning - really happy, which is a relief because it must mean she's feeling better. Hurrah! I think I'm happy about taking her to playgroup this morning then. It'll be nice to get out and about.

Naomi - Enjoy the wedding! I'm sure you'll have a great time. I have a wedding coming up in about 6-7 weeks and I can't wait! A night away from the kids!! WOOHOO! I will miss them like anything, but Hubs and I haven't had a night alone since our honeymoon, and even then we weren't alone, because Allira was in my tummy. LOL

Bridg -Bugger about the eczema! DS has a bit and I've been using eczema and psoriasis cream made by moogoo and it's doing a great job! I hope Logan's feeding settles down soon!
BG - Sorry to hear E's been a little unsettled. You think you've just gotten them into a really good routine, and then BAM, it all changes. I hope it's only for a day or 2 and then she's back to normal.
Hi to everyone I missed!! I hope you are all well.

Yep, so I got a wedding invitation yesterday. It's down at Jan Juc, so it's about a 4 hour drive and then we need accommodation, so it will be like a mini holiday. Can't wait! I've booked a nice B&B in Torquay with a massive fully cooked gourmet brekky... yummo.

Kids are good. Same old really. Lachie loves his sister so much, that when she is on the floor he just wants to lie with her a cuddle her which is cute, but sometimes, he lies on top of her and we've had to pry him off so poor Allira can breathe. She takes it all in her stride though and is never too upset by it. She is fascinated with her brother and she is always seeking him out when she's awake. Just seeing him and hearing his voice calms her down when she's upset. It's just adorable.

Anyway, I've just gotten a call for coffee and cake around at MIL's and I have to get the boy dressed and myself dressed ( it's PJ Friday in my house). Have a great weekend all!!

Hmmm, let's see how many persies I can get done before the small fry wakes up. We're meant to be at mother's group (started at 1), but Kyson decided to get another nap in, and I still have to give him a quick feed before we go. Lucky it's just two streets away!

Niadla - PJ Friday?! I love it! If I didn't have mother's group on a friday I would have PJ friday too! Maybe I'll have to work out a different day for it. Perhaps monday... Tuesday's is baby-rhyme-time at the library, Wednesday is another free day, and Thursday is Playgroup day (which I just started yesterday!).

Bridg - I hope the eczema clears up for you soon. I have a bit of a dry patch on my upper right arm, but nothing major. It's mild enough that it would probably clear up with just moisturiser if I remembered to moisturise it regularly!

Amy - Is it just Natty that does playgroup? Or has Phoebs started too? I took Kyson to his first playgroup session yesterday. We didn't do much, but he seemed quite happy laying on the floor with me playing with him, lol. Looks like next week we will be doing something crafty. Can't wait!

Jacinta - So sorry to hear about how alone you feel before so far from people you know. Can you arrange any sleepovers at friends places just to get some extra socialising in?
Oh, and Kyson only got the tinest little patch of cradle cap when he was younger so I may not be much help... But I just rubbed his head gently with a facewasher while I was washing his hear, and then sort of picked off the rest when his hair was dry. Not sure if the picking would help if there was an entire head of cradle cap though...

Bella - Good to hear that J is getting over her snotty nose. Aren't the beaming smiles just the best?!

BG - It's funny the things that people can say that get us upset isn't it? Your mum probably didn't even realise that she was saying something that might upset you until you reacted to it. Luckily my mum has been really great. The only time I get a little annoyed is when she says things like "YOU went in a walker when you were little and your legs are fine aren't they?". Yes mum, my legs are just fine DESPITE the fact that I went in a walker that has now been proven to not be the best thing for little developing legs, LOL!

Naomi - How is Bailey today? Kyson had a bit of a sad afternoon/evening the other day and it was heartbreaking. I forgot that he used to be like that nearly every night (his witching hour) and having him do that again just made me realise how much better he has gotten in the evenings as he is getting older. I hope Bailey is much happier today and back to giving you those wonderful smiles that I see in all his facebook photos! :)

Ok, I think I need to wake this little bubba up for his feed. We are now going to be seriously late! Haha!

Naomi- Sorry to hear Bailey was so upset yesterday. Poor little tyke. Have u tried putting him in the car and taking him for a drive? Logan settles reaaly well in the car. I hope u have a nice time at the wedding. The eczema does get itchy and also sore as blisters keep surfacing.

BG- Sorry to hear u had a rin in with ur mum. Since being a mum myself, I have noticed my mum has changed.

Bella- Unfortunately creams would be waaaay to expensive as I have alot of area to cover. Its good to hear Jemima is almost over her snotty nose.

Jacinta- Hopefully DH and his friend can sort out their differences.

Amy- Glad to hear the dizziness is gone. Its the most awful feeling!

AFU, Logan seems to have developed heaps in the last week or so. He loves sitting up supported so he can see everything. Hes giggling heaps more now. He also loves sitting on my knee when Im on the computer so he can watch the lights in the mouse flash.

I'm madly cleaning the house while Bailey is sleeping - has been asleep 2.5 hours so far, I think he will inevitibly wake soon was is 1.5 hours past a feed. He is heaps happier today (when awake LOL). Thanks for your supportive posts and tips :)

Bridg - have you googled some natural remedies re eczema perhaps? Sucks thats its all over you, I get cranky the day after I shave my legs cos I am itchy (yeah its winter have let myself go LOL) so if I was constantly itchy I'd have rubbed myself raw - hope you find something to help

Nicky: yup, its harder getting out with the two of them, but by golly I try to do it every day, LOL! Even just for a walk. We don't have much of a back yard here so we go a bit stir crazy if at home all day.

Nat & Phoebe are the same: Natty physically cannot leave Phoebe alone when she's having floor time. Gets quite stressful for me :( But Phoebe just adores her - Natty gets the best smiles and Phoebe talks to her the most out of all of us.
Krystie: Hope your playgroup is good this arvo. We go to two playgroups, and they are mainly for Natty although there are other babies at my Tuesday group and in my Friday group there are two babies due early next year. So Phoebe will have some playmates there too. ATM she really doesn't get into it, but I'm sure over the coming month she'll enjoy lying around with a couple of friends, LOL. It is good for you too though, getting out and meeting some more parents. I have found both groups really good in different ways.

We got home from playgroup before and I set up a table with some paints for Natty to do a picture. Stupidly I left her while I took some photos of Phoebe and when I came back she had painted her face. :doh: Honestly, that kid!!! My fault for leaving her unattended of course.
Phoebe has been a darling today, given how little sleep she's had. I just put her down about half an hour ago and already its the longest sleep she's had all day :redface:
Anyway, I should probably go and spend some time with Natty while I can.

Hi everyone

My name is Bek and I have a 12 week and 3 days old little boy named Connor. I have recently moved to Toowoomba (my partner is in the army) and am feeling quite lonely as I don't know anybody here.
Does anybody else have a bub who feeds constantly when their awake? I feel like all I do all day is sit on my backside and feed and Connor is not much of a sleeper during the day either. I have so much other stuff to do and my partner doesn't get how hard it is to get things done when he's at work. Please tell me other people have these problems too??

Hi Bek, welcome to BB and welcome to May babies :)
Can't say Phoebe feeds all day long. But she isn't a big day sleeper - often just catnaps. Plus I have a toddler too so I totally know the feeling of not having done anything much around the house all day!
Agh, it's a common problem I think for partners to not understand how demanding babies can be - it's like they think we just play with them all day long and life is sun and roses. *hugs* Not sure what to suggest there, except maybe getting him to look after your DS for a while on his own so he can see how difficult it can be :)
Have you looked into getting a sling? Connor may just want to be close to you rather than hungry? Just a thought. Slings are great if you have a cuddly bub and you still need to do things. And it's only when I'm carrying Phoebe in the pouch that she has her terrifically long day sleeps.

Naomi - Sounds like Bailey is having one super power-nap! Lol! Your house will be sparkling, hehe.

Amy - Today was our first "unofficial" mothers group. There was only 4 of us mums there (plus the 4 bubs of course) and we had it at one of the girls house. I've offered my house for next week. The hope was to find a venue we can use, but we're hoping to find one that we don't have to pay for, hehe. We're having a veranda built out the back (starting tomorrow), so when the weather is nice and Kyson is a bit older I'll get him to do his messy activities, like painting, outside. Is it bad to hose off a messy child? ;) :rofl:

Bek - Welcome to the forum and our lovely little thread. Congratulations on the birth of your little boy, Connor! You'll find that all of our bub's have different "quirks" (I don't like to call them "problems ;) ). I thought that my Kyson was the only one still feeding around 3-hourly until recently when other girls in here posted that their bubs are doing the same. I was also getting worried about Kyson's day naps because he only does one 45 minute cycle in his cot (he'll only sleep a second cycle in my arms), but now I'm finding out that it's not uncommon. I read last night that at this age he should be getting about 12-15 hours sleep a day, and I worked out that he's getting about 14. He just has short naps, but more of them in a day (about 5 naps a day, then 10-12 hours in bed overnight with 2-3 night/early-morning feeds).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that we all get worried about things that our babies are or are not doing, and that at the end of the day they are all different, but it doesn't mean they are doing anything wrong. You'll little man might be going through a growth spurt, or perhaps he is just using a lot of energy and needs all the milk :)

Sorry to hear that your husband doesn't understand how hard it is for you when he is not there. You should make him look after Connor by himself one day. If you are breastfeeding you could still do it by making your husband sit down with you and not do anything so he can begin to understand how much time feeding takes up each day.

Kyson is currently being a cheeky monkey. He's tired and keeps going to sleep, but if I put him down in his cot (or anywhere else), then he wakes within a couple of minutes. So he's now sleeping in my arms.

Hey Bek - welcome and congratulation on the birth of Connor! Like Amy and Krystie have said, its not uncommon for babies to feed constantly - how long between feeds does he go ? and are you bottle or breast feeding? I 'think' Breast fed babies tend to feed more frequently from observations with our May babies :)

I agree with the girls too, its tough when our partners dont understand just how time consuming our babies are, I think Krystie's suggestion is a good one - your hubby needs to 'live your life' for a day, or even a few hours, thats the only way he will fully understand. Re the not sleeping much, I found around 12-13 weeks Bailey all of a sudden started a bit of a routine for himself (with morning and afternoon naps) so hang in there, my suggestion would be when you see some tired signs, wrap Conner (if he'll let you) and see if you can rock him to sleep (if you've already tried this, just disregard LOL :) )

Re moving to a new place - does the Army have some kind of Family support network - My Brother was in the Navy and I know there were family groups that would welcome new familes - might be worth looking into, might be some other new Mums within the Army community, or perhaps contact the local council to find out about a local mothers group. Either way, keep dropping in and chatting with us - our babies range from 10-17 weeks old and we love to chat and its great to meet someone new :) I hope we can be of some support to you, it sounds like you are doing a GREAT job!!

Krystie - I am hosting our mothers group next week also, we have 'finished up' being hosted by our CYH, so are going solo now, so I offered my house (as we were struggling to think of a cafe that suited everyone and was BF suitable)

AFU - Bailey has started to reach out and pick things up himself - very exciting!! He's been grabbing and holding onto the toys on his playmat for ages but actually picking someone up solo is another thing altogether - very impressive. I might teach him to 'pick up' the vacumm cleaner once a week :ROFL:

Hey Bek, how ya doing? Welcome to our thread! Were a very happy and supportive little group here so anything you wanna talk about spill! We r happy to be as encouraging and supportive as you need. God knows that we all have our days, every single one of us! Jemima definately will have days where she is permanently glued to my breast! Seems less than it did at the start. I noticed that it seemed to happen less after I watched the dunstan DVD on babies cries and how to identify which means which. I had been offering the boob everytime she cries and it did comfort her, but later I worked out that there were other reasons that she was crying and tried to help relieve her wind, or burp her or help her sleep and she didn't really need it as often. I think she aslo started then to take bigger feeds as she went. Now she only seems to go that way when she is doing a growth spurt. You might be able to just try doing other things to see if they r what is making him cry and that might lengthen the time btwn feeds naturally so that when he does feed next he has a longer feed. Having said that cos Jemima sleeps well o/n she rarely sleeps thru the day and so I often still have her in my arms and so that's our reality! Somedays I literally get nothing done in terms of house work! Does ur DH have any mates with kids who can nod their heads sagely and tell him it's really normal? Just a thought.

morning all - and welcome to the group Bek and Conner!

having a good morning after having a reasonably good day yesterday. it's been fantastic! DH got home at 1.30 yesterday morning til (supposedly) this afternoon, but ended up having to leave after dinner last night, which was rather upsetting seeing he probably won't be home now til Friday - but apart from that, E was in a great mood yesterday, went to sleep in my arms last night at 9, slept there til 10.30 when i wanted to go to bed, woke while i changed her nappy and wrapped her, then slept from about 11 til after six, awake an hour, and woke up just before 10. mummy loved it - even though E has been sleeping through for weeks (well, most nights anyway), i've been feeling physically run down from trying to stay on top of everything solo, BF her, and sleep while my arm is killing me (i soooooo wish i wasn't BF at the moment - the only meds that help are ones that aren't BF friendly so i can't do anything for the pain! grrrrrr) anyway, i went back to sleep with her til just before she woke up. feeling a fair bit better now. still exhausted, but i'll get over it! have to get us up and ready to get out of the house by half 8 at the latest in the morning (nieces first communion) - gonna be interesting! i soooo dont "DO" mornings lol

Congrats Bek on the birth of Connor! And yes, I do know what it is like to have a bub that feeds constantly all day. She sleeps well at night though...5/6 hours staight at times. Then feeds and back to sleep again til 9.30am! :)

I had always used vaseline/olive oil for cradle cap, and I looked it up on wikipedia and saw that it mentioned bicarb soda. I tried it! Made a warm paste with it, scrubed a bit, bathed her. Amazing!! it is all but gone now!! I believe bicarb soda is good in the bath water too..makes skin soft (so the box says lol).

Cara is getting really chubby now and fits quite well in most 00s, some 0s even hehe. She's gonna be a cute little chubster by 3/4mths like all my other babies hehe

I had some breastmilk to express out a couple of weeks ago, and stuck some in a cup for Laura to try. She liked it!! hehehe Amazed. She wanted more, but I had to tell her that Cara needed it hehe.

So very warm here today...28oC!! Very unusual for winter. Loved it though. Cara should even go singletless with a tshirt and no socks. Lovely!

Bek- Welcome!!! Congrats on the arrival of Connor!!! My DH didnt understand what it was like for me during the day either. It took me to get a touch of gastro (he had to stay home and look after the kids) for him to realise what my day actually involves. Maybe u could keep a diary of ur days, and show DP. Logan is feeding all the time at the moment, and I know what u mean about feeling like all ur doing is feeding.

Naomi- Yay!!! for Bailey picking things up himself!!! Its amazing how quickly they learn new things. Good luck with teaching him to vac the floors. I did look up natural remedies. I was showing my Mum today, and she said I definately need to get either injections or tablets. There is also a blood test u can get that shows ur allergies, so Im thinking if getting that done too.

Amy- God no!! Logan will sit up if u hold him under the arms. He loves sitting there and looking around. How cheeky of Natty to paint herself! Did u get a photo of it for her 21st?

Bella- It took me a while to work out what Logans cries mean, but I think I may have it worked out to a T.

BG- Clever E for getting lots of sleep. Maybe she is all tuckered out after her wonder week? Logan has been sleeping ok today. Sorry to hear ur not feeling well. Hopefully when DH gets home Friday, u can have a relaxation spell. I dont 'DO' mornings either, so I totally know how u feel.

Cathy- Nice work from Cara re the growing! Im amazed that Laura drank the breast milk. A friend of Leighs was over today and he said he had tatsted his partners bm when they had their son, and he said it was sour.

AFU, Logan seems to have settled down a bit. He still needs to work on his feeding a bit more though. He is also into 00's. Hes more tall than chubby. I went to BIGW the other night to get some new clothes for him, as he had grown out of the other ones. They dont really have many clothes for boys, but seem to have heaps for girls. Leigh took some pics of me and Logan in his new pj's so I will post them on FB. Zac was really cute today. He got the duster out and started doing the dusting. It seems to be his and Jakes fave thing to do at the moment. Not that Im complaining. Mum and FIL came over today, and Logan had heaps of smiles for them. They havent seen him for a couple of weeks, so they enjoyed the smiles and giggles.

Krystie: Def not bad form to hose off a dirty kid... Wish I had've thought of it myself, LOL!
We have those days with Phoebe when she just won't stay asleep in her cot but will happily sleep the whole day away in someone's arms or in the baby bjorn (actually... that's most days, LOL!). I am trying not to let it tire me out and trying to remember how short a time she's actually going to be a baby :( Have you read that little poem in Heaven's signature? Almost makes me cry every time I read it cause I know my baby's going to grow up way too fast.
Naomi: Good for Bailey, picking things up. LMAO @ the vacuum cleaner! I think Natty's got the right idea - whenever I turn the vacuum on (rarely) she screams and ducks for cover. I feel like doing the same!
Bella: Hope you're enjoying your weekend after a tiring day on Friday.
BG: Glad Em gave you a good sleep. I'm sorry your arm is giving you grief. Others have said it before, but you are so tops for doing all you do when you're on your own so often.
Cathy: Funny that Laura liked the BM. Have you tasted it before? I think it tastes like dirt... literally, LOL! Sweet dirt :lol:
Jacinta: Yay for success with the bicarb. I haven't tried it yet - will wait until I don't have Natty. Oooh, that's tomorrow!
Bridg: Oh, I didn't think of getting a photo - I was so worried she'd eaten it, LOL! I just went crook at her and wiped it all off :( Poor little tyke, I'm always going crook at her these days. Tell the twins to keep up with the dusting! LOL! I think that's tops. Good on Logan for being so sociable with the grandparents. I'm glad he's settled a bit for you.
