**** lulu - stop that girl! That is amazing, she really is in a hurry isn't she.
I've noticed Emily is doing things earlier than Nina as well. She's sitting unsupported, whereas Nina wasn't doing that until 9 months of age. Even with the food, Emily is more advanced. Emily is trying to get up and crawl. But she's not getting up and trying to rock, she's trying to get up on hands and knees, and trying to take off straight away. I think she wants to skip the practice stage
My Christmas shopping was done 6 months ago All I need to do is pick them up off layby this weekend, or sometime next week. I'm super organised this year. Except I've decided to take one of Nina's presents back, and I'm replacing it with something she's more into, which is a Princess tea set.
How is everyone going? I imagine all the little bubbies will be getting very spoilt at Christmas time.
klee - haven't heard from you for a while, how are you going? Do you have something special planned to remember Phoebe this Christmas?
Holy cow Lulu! I can't believe Elena is nearly walking! She must really, really want to follow her big sister around!
Joshua is getting better at sitting, although he can not get to a sitting position himself yet. I feel like a real bad mum though. Had him sitting up between my legs and he fell forward and bumped his forehead on the ground We were sitting outside on a rug on the paving too. It made such a loud bump and then OMG there were tears! Poor little munchkin, I felt so guilty. But he only ended up with a small red mark, no bump or bruise thankfully and 20 minutes later, it was all forgotten!
We got his hands and feet castings framed and got that back today. It looks really good. I'm so glad I got it done even if it did cost $165.
Almost done here with the Christmas shopping. Just a couple more presents to buy and also have to wrap them all. Got Joshua's santa photos back today. We did the Harvey Norman package. Got so many photos, will be giving them out to the rellies!
Oh, guess what, I'm not going back to work. Got a redundancy woohoo! So far our budget for me to be off work for 12 months is going really well so we'll just continue with that plan and save the redundancy payout and maybe do a few things to the house. I'm really excited about knowing I can stay home longer with my little man
Laranna - that's fabulous news that you don't have to go back to work. You must be over the moon. FWIW, and I'm not sure if this is to make you feel better or worse, once Joshua starts pulling himself up the amount of times he falls on his little head is going to increase ten fold. Poor Elena has had a few nasty spills - and we have hardwood floors so there is always a horribly large thud. You obviously need to do what you can to minimise danger but at the end of it, its all part of the learning experience. I wish I had had castings done of Iz and El - really regret it now. I'm glad yours have turned out so well. We went to Santa the other day too - Ellie was ok but Iz wasn't having anything to do with him. Funny, but I thought it would be the other way around. Santa did say that about 90% of kids at Iz's age don't like it so I guess I have it to look forward to with Ellie next year too. Oh well, hopefully we'll get a good Santa photo of the two of them in a couple of years.
Jodi - yay for having Christmas shopping done. I just have a few bits to pick up for my folks and then I'm done too. The developmental differences between baby 1 and 2 are huge aren't they - Emily has obviously watched Nina and thinks hey, I can do this!
wow Elena, slow down girl!! she will be running by next week!
our kids are getting so spoilt for christmas is unbelievable!! but i cant wait to see their faces xmas morning!
Jack has started pulling himself up on furniture, hes so cheeky now he crawls really fast now and when im like "wheres Jack gone" ill go see where hes gone and he will spot me and crawl away really fast laughing!! i love this age especially now he is interacting with DD alot and i find myself sitting there smiling at them playing together! quiet sad really they are growing up to quick
Laranna, poor Joshua, but as Lulu said it happens even more when they start pulling themselves up and that, i think Jack has little red marks on his head daily from bumping into things or falling over!!
i always wanted to get the casts done might still look into it, they look great too.
hope u all have a happy safe christmas and a very happy new year xx
Sorry to intrude on the thread . I have a little girl due in May 09, and I was wondering whether I needed short sleeve / singlets / summer clothes, or if it would be too cold by then ? And who else to ask but you ladies who did it last year???
So, did your bubs go straight into winter clothes? Ta!
Hi oscaroscar...yep DS went into the bonds wondersuits with a singlet underneath straight away. It was quite cool here in Perth. I always had a singlet underneath his bodysuit or under long sleeve top and pants with socks. And if it was extra cold, I would wrap him (he was wrapped for sleeping at that stage anyway).
Well, ladies, not sure if I will get time tomorrow but just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy our bubba's first Christmas How exciting!?! I hope everyone has a lovely day and gets spoilt.!
hi all, just wanted to wishe everyone a belated merry christmas, hope you all and your little ones had a fantastic day and all got spoiled.
we've had visitors for about the last month it seems so we've barely been around, jo had a wonderful day yesterday, turns out he must have been singing the "all i want for christmas is my two front teeth" cause he got his top two just in time. he had so much fun, we went to what we call Phoebe's park for christmas day with PIL's and he loved it, he really didn't stop talking, which was wonderful. anyway its only a short one cause i wanted to send best wishes to everyone, so take care and have a safe new year, will see you back here then as we're off to the country for a few days.
Merry Christmas everybody. The girls were so incredibly spoilt - still working their way through opening presents! Everybody is completely exhausted though so lots of quiet play today.
Happy New Year girls!!! It's been pretty quiet in here, I guess we've all been busy. How did the bubba's enjoy their first Christmas?
klee - wow at Jo having top teeth already. Joshua has none yet and I can't feel a thing on his gums.
Joshua was sooo spoiled with presents from the family. I was very surprised that there were no double ups! His present from "Santa" was the FP crawl and cruise musical jungle and he loves it. He had to wait to use it though because when we opened it, the monkeys arm was busted. Luckily the shop had one left so we swapped it over. From us, he got a couple of board books, a name puzzle, castanet, maracca and that's about it. Everything else was from the rellies.
On Christmas morning, Joshua decided it was time he started rocking backwards and forwards on his hands and knees. Since then, he does it ALL the time! He's also pretty good at sitting up by himself for a short period although today he did topple backwards and knocked his head and we had some tears. I just think, any minute now he will start crawling but he seems to be enjoying doing the knee rocking for now.
I'm so sorry I've been so slack in here. We went away between Christmas and New Year which was lovely. Emily got a tooth last week, and she has a top tooth coming through at the moment She's a little grumpy every now and then, but nothing we can't handle.
Emily loved her first Christmas and was very spoilt. I think she enjoyed the wrapping paper more though
Did you get my text klee? How special that would have been for you all to go to Phoebe's park.
laranna - woohoo on Joshua rocking! Won't be long and they'll be all crawling.
Laranna - yay for Joshua. What a clever boy. He'll probably get it all together incredibly quickly now. Bummer about his monkey being broken - that sort of stuff is always really frustrating.
Jodi - great that Emily has got teeth on the move and that she's not too bad with them.
My girls got incredibly spoilt at Christmas, although Elena had no interest at all really - not even in the paper. Izzy on the other hand ripped into every present she could find, whoever it was for!! Definitely wondering why I joined the toy library because I can't imagine there is a toy that we don't own.
Ellie has been a nightmare lately. She is so unsettled and most times at night when she wakes she is awake for a couple of hours. I'm sure its a tooth coming through so I hope it comes through very quickly. She's such a grizzle bum though - very different from Izzy who rarely was grumpy while teething. Funny how two children raised in the same household can be so completely different in personality. Nice that they are, but I think I would have rather had my more "difficult" baby first - I think I would have handled her clingyness and whingyness a lot better had I not had Izzy, who is just such an easy going baby.
Anyway, better get back to cooking dinner. Elena still has almost no interest in solids. Not worried still but life would be a lot easier if I could have both the kids in high chairs eating toast!

How's everyone going? How are the Perth girls and bubs coping in this heat? It's sooo hot today. I'm so glad we have airconditioning
I got really excited yesterday because Joshua got from lying on his tummy into a sitting position yesterday But I missed seeing him do it! I put him down on the floor on his tum to play with his toys then went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and when I came back out he was sitting up! He looked at me with this huge smile on his face and he looked a bit confused as to why I was so happy LOL
He's not really crawling yet, but is rocking on his hands and knees heaps. He gets around a little bit by sliding backwards on his tummy and turning around.
We start swimming lessons tomorrow. Really looking forward to it. Not much else going on. Oh, we finally moved him into his own room and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be He transitioned very well.
That's great news about Joshua Laranna. What a clever boy. He'll be off in no time now. Where are you doing swimming? I must get Elena enrolled and get Izzy back in the pool. We stopped Izzy's swimming when El was born because it was just too hard for a while and then never got back.
OMG the weather has been awful hasn't it. I think except for a couple of days early this week we have had the airconditioners on constantly since Boxing Day. Its really awful at our place this morning too with the smoke from Kings Park. I was going to do heaps of washing today but I don't really want to hang anything on the line cos it will stink.
Elena has her 8 month MCHN on Monday. Looking forward to seeing how much she has grown - I'm sure she's put on 20kgs!!! She's such a heavy little lump now. Also hoping I can get some ideas about what to try food wise with her. She's still really not interested in solids and while I'm not worried yet, I'm frustrated that we're not making any progress. She is back to waking twice a night for a bottle and I'm sure its because she needs solids to get her through.
Hi to everybody else. Hope mums and bubs are all doing well.
Lulu - we're doing the swimming at Stateswim, there are a few centres around Perth.
Yeah it is smoky around our place too and I was going to wash nappies and clothes but I think it's going to have to wait until the smoke clears.
Josh has his 8 month MCHN check on Tuesday, was supposed to be last week but the nurse had to change it for some reason. I'm eager to find out how much he weighs because he eats soooo much. He was 7.24kg on Christmas Eve. Josh is eating pretty much anything. Toast, fruits, veggies, rice cereal. I've started setting aside portions of our own dinners and mashing it up and freezing for him. He's had chicken casserole, tuna bake and beef casserole. I think he's going to eat me out of house and home! Plus he still has 5 milk feeds during the day.
I hope Elena starts to tuck into her solids soon Lulu.
He sounds like he's doing brilliantly on solids. It is sooooo much easier when everybody in the house is eating the same thing. Izzy has always been great too (with the occasional period of fussiness - like now!!) and by this stage she was having 3 solid meals a day, snacks etc. I know Elena will get there. Just hope its soon. I miss my uninterrupted night's sleep
Helllloooooo....anyone there? How are we going girls? It's been so quiet! Our bubbas must be keeping us busy!
I know Josh is....he has just started crawling! He loves chasing after the cats, they just run away and hide. He also said his first word today - "bubba" He sounded so cute and made me worry heaps less. We saw the CHN last week for his 8 month check and she was a little bit "concerned" that he was not babbling yet and was talking about seeing a speech therapist!!! She decided to wait until we see the paed next month. Bah, I think he's fine!
He now weighs 7.75kg. Still small but back on his own growth curve. We are half BF and half FF and fully into the solids. He is loving his swimming lessons and last week the instructor let him go underwater and he swam to me! It was only about 3 feet away but he kicked his legs and up he came! So proud.
Hope you lovely ladies and the gorgeous bubs are going well.
xx
Yay for Josh (although your puddy tat might not share that view?!).
Ellie is still small too - 7.6kgs at her 8 month check last week. That is still very much in the healthy range and I actually love that I have two small babies. It makes them so much easier to cart around, cuddle and play with when they're that bit smaller.
Don't worry about your MCN. I think a lot of them stress mums unnecessarily. FWIW Izzy really didn't babble at all but now at 20 months she is a little chatterbox with new words (and strings of words) coming out every day. He'll get there in his own good time.
