Morning everyone, just thought I'd pop in and say Hi before I do my ironing.

Well I reached my 50 hours of driving yesterday. Yay! The log book is complete. Now any driving I do between now and My big TEST is a bonus. Drove down to Berrima yesterday, and it poured most of the way, but when we got there is was sunny blue skies all over and quite hot. Definately strange weather. Seems to be everywhere at the moment.

I've been reading all the posts and there's so much going on that I can't keep up for personals, sorry. I am thinking of you all though. Sara, good to hear that Briley is enjoying FDC.

Kaitlyn just ate 1/2 a banana for breakfast. Usually her mouth opens just before we put the food in but not with the nana's. She has it open as soon as it's empty!! and hits one hand on the high chair tray like 'well, where is it?" So cute... She's so cheeky.

wow Leanne i wish Ryan was like that with his food i 'm flat out trying to get him to open his mouth though i do think he his getting more teeth i had to give him panadol justnow he was screaming with his whole fist in his mouth and then everythime i went to give him his dummy he'd spit it out and scream so teeth or yet again another sore throat ( god i hope not )

Shazz - My DH's first love of his life is food - well that's what I tell him - it's food, Katy, me and then work.....

So . . . I think she's inherited some of his genes. Let's hope she keeps it up... Sending some Katy genes Ryan's way. :) Fingers crossed it's not another sore throat for him, and it's just toothy pegs.

Where is everyone today? Must have more of a life than me - or I am just more hooked on the puter. IT's about to change when I go back to work :)

What are people's thoughts on the new proposal of one offence while on your p's and you lose your licence?

Leanne, didn't it used to be that if you got booked on your ps you lost them? Its been so long since I was on mine I can't really remember but one of my friends lost her Ps for speeding. DD#1 can get her L's in November !! I have no idea of all the rules now, I may have to ask you a lot of questions.
Riley woke every 2hours again last night, I have a bad head cold DD#1 gave me so i feel like cr@p. We are driving home after tea tonight and I amgong to get tough with Riley's sleeping when we get back home and in a routine.
I have to go back to work in 3 weeks today, Riley is going to FDC with alady I have known for years but I still feel so sad about it.My mum minded both the girls when they were little so its another thing he will miss out on. I miss mum so much at the moment, I am finding it quite hard to deal with some days.

Better go and put R. down for a sleep , mil is palying with him atm which is giving me a bit of rare free time.

It's a bit harsh... especially when they are still "learning".... or gaining confidence.

But I think something has to be done about P plate drivers - in particular young male drivers - usually with powerful cars. I can't believe the amount of accidents & deaths that are young people in fast cars in the middle of the night.

We were discussing it yesterday actually.
In the US you get your licence at 16 and you can drink at 21. I think Australia has a big drinking culture, and to co-incide that with getting your licence is trouble. Then there are drugs as well, which I think is more of a problem with the young people going to clubs.

So my thought was that P plate drivers could get their licence at 17 - but only be able to drive daylight hours until they were 21. Then they could still drive to work... and if you were over 21 you would hope they would have some more maturity - and some more driving experience to drive at night.

I think there should be more public transport at night - and safer - to resolve the issue of young people driving home & car pooling. The way I see it - car pooling with a bunch of young drunk kids is more dangerous than anything.

One of my old staff was in a car accident recently. There were 6 young girls squashed into a 2 door sports car. It was around 3am and they were coming home from a club - not too far from their home (on the same big street). Speed, and probably alcohol and/or drugs resulted in the car hitting a tree and ramming a brick fence. Two girls died instantly. Two girls were severely injured. My ex-staff (and her twin sister who was driving) came out with minor injuries. Minor physical injuries. The driver has to live with the fact that she killed two of her friends. And I'm sure she is being charged as well.

I just wish there was something that could be done to cut the road toll; particularly young people who just don't have the experience or the maturity to deal with a motor car that can kill.

Okay need to vent.

Why is it that when our Dh's arrive home from work with a headache or are tired they can go and have a sleep while 'mum' looks after the kids, gets dinner ready etc etc??? Do they not think that we are not tired from looking after the kiddies and the house all day?

Christine (please don't think i'm prying or poking), did you lose your mum recently? It is sad that Riley won't have that like the girls. :hug:

About the driving thing. As you can imagine, we have a lot to deal with P Plate drivers. I was an emergency specialist before I joined the cops. I've seen more squashed, smashed, mutilated bodes than I care to remember. I hate writing tickets and save them for when a driver tries to kill me or someone else. Surprisingly (or probably not) most of the tickets I do write are for P Platers. Short of dragging them along to big smashes and saying "look what happens to heads/legs/arms just because the driver was being dumb/overconfident/undercautious/inexperienced! Look what it does to families. Look at their recovery (if there's one to be had)", I don't know that any rules will make a difference.
I'm probably in the minority but I agree with the proposal. A licence is a privelege to be guarded and respected, not a right. A car is a weapon that can maim and kill. How hard are the road rules to follow???? It never gets them anywhere quicker. But when I learnt to drive things were just 'different'.
I agree with the passenger proposal, at least then it minimises the lives potentially lost. Curfews are too hard to enforce and many don't work daylight hours. Currently in NSW there ARE restrictions on the type of car P Platers can drive, but there are so many easily obtained exemptions that the rule is stupid.
Parents are also conrtibuting as most insurance companys won't insure hig powered and turbo cars for under 25s (a lot are now 30), but the kids want the car so the parents buy and insure them under their names, thus exaccerbating the problem.
Sorry that was a bit of a rant, wasn't it....you should just hear the attitude they manage though....makes you want to smack em!

Who has given grated cheese?

Can we give yoghurt yet? If so, is there a special baby yoghurt or do we just give a full cream type yoghurt? I suppose we avoid strawberry yoghurt too ;)

Cooper wont eat his vegies at night but gobbles down his farex mixed with pears or apples in the morning. Should I maybe try and feed him his vegies earlier in the day (lunchtime) and just give him a bottle at night?

* I've only given Shaun rusks and toast cut into fingers... I tried watermelon & banana but he just squishes it in his hands. Hang on... my DH gave him a pickled cucumber one night and he loved it... sucked all the guts out of it. Didn't eat the actual cucumber though.
* Haven't given any cheese yet.
* I just give him baby yoghurt... Heinz make banana, strawberry etc. (he loves it!!!)
* Shaun is the same as Cooper - he whoofs down anything that is sweet... but is resistant to vegetables. I bought some Heinz and Organics jars with stuff like Lamb & chicken... but they are really strongly flavoured - and he is not keen on them.

Just a suggestion... add some apples to Coopers vegies. I did that with Em and he gulped them down!! And then slowly lowered the amount and stopped adding it altogether. Now he eats almost anything!

Will post more in the morning. Em decided last night to wake up at 1.30 and stay up till 5 :eek: and has been cranky all day because of it! And now its late and he's only just gone down and I'm tired...
