Okay, another question here.
How do I know the difference between conjustivitis and a blocked tear duct? Kaitlyn's had a blocked tear duct in the past, but now that she's at CC how can I be sure that it's not something contagious?
I guess I should take her to the doc. Just answered my own question.
Der....
My flu seems gone except my cough is so bad it made me throw up today. Any ideas?
Probably should get the doc to look at me when I take KAty.
Der again.
We're not into smacking here but we're not not into it either. Just believe in good discipline. Kaitlyn knows my tone now when she is doing something she's not really supposed to and today she actually sat down in the bath when I said "Kaitlyn, sit down you might slip and fall". I was so excited about that.
And about toys. Kaitlyn does not have a heap of toys. Her favourites are some clothes pegs and an old tissue box. Puts them in and then takes them out. If you happen to peg some pegs on her or on the box she thinks it's Christmas!!!
Not sure what to buy her for her birthday. Maybe some track suits for school cause that's all she really needs.
-
i didn't get to see the show unfortunately ....smacking it's a weird subject my middle boy when asked what punishment will fit his crimes his first answer is a smack and this is from a kid that has been smacked only a handful of times and more so not from anger but from fear eg when he ran into traffic my first instinct was cuddle kiss and hug him but instead he coped a smack from my fear and then he got the cuddles etc all in under 30 sec ( that probably doesn't make sense to any one but me ) it just all happened so quick and lets put it this way he never ever has done anything like that again ... but over all i try my very hardest not to smack and if i do it is a slight tap on the butt not like when we were kids oh the mighty belt but i can say i feared the belt... not my parents... so i tried my hardest not to get into trouble nite everyone enough dribble from me
HAPPY EASTER
-
Hmmmm smacking... such a controversial topic isn't it? I didn't watch it at all and I don't know how I feel about the topic to be honest. Right now there is no place for smacking with Em. He doesn't understand and we have a process that works fine for us most of the time. If he's playing with something he's not meant to he may get a tap on the hand by my finger though - is that classified as a smack?? I try not to judge what I'll do as a parent in the future. Its too hard.
I think its the same with all different parts of parenting. For example when it comes to controlled crying. I never had to use it because Em slept well. I have no idea what its like to have a baby that doesn't sleep well so I would never take it upon myself to judge a parent who after sleep difficulties with their child used CC. Am I making sense here?
In saying that I would never use the belt or anything like that. Like Shazz just a tap on the bum. I think the downfall with smacking is that from the parents side it is often done out of frustration or anger which I don't think is good. Yet on the flipside my Mum never smacked us - just threatened us with the wooden spoon lol ;) but my dad would give us a smart tap to the thigh. My Dad got a lot more respect growing up from my brother and I then my mum ever did... so who knows. Can you tell I'm undecided? I think I'll stop rambling on about it now.
Now for toys... I don't think we have that many. I could list the amount of big ones we have (Walker, trike, play table, treehouse, music centre) and then a few other things (learning puppy, phone, bug thing, shape sorter, train, blocks). But besides the big stuff it all fits into 3 10L storage containers.
Things Em loves that aren't 'toys' as such - the coasters, plastic container cupboard, wooden spoon, my glass cleaner cloth lol, an old mobile, an old purse with old cards... he plays with this stuff just as much as his actual toys.
For his birthday I thought long and hard about what sort of toys I wanted him to have. I bought him some proper baby musical instruments (Kellee would love that lol), an old fashioned wooden toy, a talking Pooh (ok not much thought there I just wanted to hear Pooh say Emerson lol), a thomas the tank that plays music (because my brother had the exact one when we were little lol) and some stacking rings. And then some DVD's (cause they were cheap lol) and clothes (because they were cute, on sale and he needs them)!!! I'm not sure if that is a lot or not much but its what he's getting.
You certainly aren't a bad mum Kim - spending money on toys doesn't value that at all!!! And like you pointed out Darcy was more advanced with different things at his age anyway. All babies are different and besides all the 'brand' name toys as such are a whole lot of hype. Em played with some of the stuff he got for a week before getting bored with it. Yes he still plays with it but there's no challenge in it. Oooookkaaay enough about toys... boy am I rabbitting on tonight lol!
Vic & Kim I have forwarded you the link for that spreadsheet. I hope it doesn't scare you both too much!
Kim ~Poor little Darcy! I hope she's feeling better soon!
Leanne ~ They're not silly qst's at all! Going to the Dr is probably the best beat though! Have you had any cough medicine at all? I think the weepy stuff would be a different colour if it was conjunc - maybe more green?? I'm not sure though.
I have Prison Break on DVD and I'm going to watch that now! Have a nice night folks and I hope my rambling hasn't offended anyone
-
I broke free from camping!!!! Only for a little while though. I came home for a shower cause I'm not showering in those shower blocks!! Plus I have to go shopping haha.
On the smacking subject, I don't want to smack Jayden but who knows what will happen when he is older, it definitley won't be my intension to smack him. Shazz I totally understand where your coming from with smacking from fear rather than anger. Chris has smacked Jayden a few times but not hard of course, even so he gets into big trouble with me if I see him as I don't want to start Jayden's disipline with smacking when tone of voice might be just as effective.
Jayden has quite a few toys lots of little ones and a few big ones, in the big ones he has a musical tunnel, wiggles car, 4 wheel motorised car, soccer goals and he has an activity table but I have the top off and in his cot. The little ones he has pull-along toys, little people fire engine, a car from the movie Cars, farm animals, learning puppy, toy mobile phone aswell as real mobile.....yeh he has too many things haha.
Well I better have a shower and get to the shops, I left Jayden camping he seems to enjoy it and slept through the night in the tent with his new sleeping bag. He is getting so dirty crawling around on the ground though and eating the dirt hehe
Have a Happy Easter everyone!!!!
Personals when we get home ( I think we are staying another nigh)

Wow, heaps to answer today.
Leanne- conjunctivitis would be gummy and when she wakes up her eyelids may be glued shut, this is hghly contagious and would be likely to have been caught at CC, Riley has had it already just wipe their eyes from inside edge to out with a cotton ball soaked in water. i managed to clear Riley's up without using eye ointment but you may need to get some if its really bad.
Vic- Loved the sheep story, don't feel bad about Adam's baby book Riley doesn't even have one LOL I have scrapbooked Erin until about 10 months too, all my grand plans for beinmg organised with Riley have gone out the window.
Kim- toys- do not stress, kids with too many toys like that don't develop their imagination and creativity and its actually harming them NOT helping them (this is my teacher opinion) Riley has a basket of toys, some of which are from friends and he still prefers pieces of paper and other people's stuff not the expensive toys most of the time. He really loves a water bottle half filled with rice and taped shut which he can rattle.
Smacking- yes I have smacked both Jess and Erin but prob a few times a year if that and always just with my hand never a wooden spoon or anything (mum and dad hit us a fair bit and usually with something) little tip- when they know you are about to smack they sometimes put their arm round quickly so you hit their wrist with yours and it hurts!!(you I mean! Jess used to do it and it p#ssed me off heaps LOL) I also have never smacked the arms or face always bottom or thigh. I agree with Shazz, I have smacked in a panic then regretted it too.
Major house cleaning today, the place is a tip and PIL are coming tonight (mil will help if its not finished I just feel slack) Got to get to the shops to purchase the Easter bunny's eggs cause every time I have been at the shops Erin has been with me.
I left out Easter eggs for my class in the baskets they had made on Wednesday and they were so excited, sometimes the little ones are cute LOL
-
Nat where'd you get the instruments? I've been looking everywhere for some. Got he spreadsheet thanks. Haven't had a look yet.
Ha Christine, that's so sweet I bet your class loved it! I love that pic of Riley. Doesn't he look grown up? It's good to go shopping with little people when they have no clue. I'm so glad at 7 Erin still 'believes'. Tell her we hope the Easter Bunny's good. Did the vallergan work by the way?
Oh Leanne. GOTOTHEDOCTOR!!!! My brother used to get conjunctivitis ALL the time and my mum swore by golden eye ointment, but I think you can get it in drops now so it's easier. It's exactly how Christine said.
Tania, Darcy loves dirt too. Not grass, just dirt and leaves. Hope he has a lovely time and you enjoy your shower.
I hope I didn't offend anyone with my smacking comments. I'm not fussed what other people's choices are. I'm just making mine for Darcy ATM.
Thanks for the support about the toys. You know when you just have one of those 'am I doing OK?' moments?
-
no offence here Kim and your doing a Fab job
Christine ~ wow i can't beleive how grown up Riley looks now what a cutey ....
-
Well got some drops and saline solution for Katy's eye issue and antibiotics for my 'Upper respiratory tract infection', so the fridge is once again laden with drugs!!!! Always on a weekend or 'holidays'.,..... Dr said should be cleared up enough for Katy to go to schoool on Tues.
Happy Easter Everyone.
BBL - Katy's asleep so thinking I might catch up on some IRONINg.... ugh.
-
ugh, my LIs are here and as normal, they have NOTHING to say...they are so boring, but as per usual they are here on my insistence so no more trouble starts....why am I so dumb???
-
I'm hiding.....they're still here....
Tehehe Darcy's still got a snotty nose and can't breath to feed so I've been giving her Demazin. Now when I get the bottle out and the dropper, she says, "yuk!!".
-
Poor you Kim, my Ils are here too but MIL has helped me get Riley in his jammies and is playing with him so I can go on here! Daniel is out AGAIN with his mate, Thursday night he ended up texting me at 1.15am to say he was tired and wanted to come home so I drove up and picked him up from the pub (took R but left girls at home, R had just been up for a feed) Tonight they have gone to another mates to work on his bike, I know i shouldn't begrudge him time out but I never get any except going to work, we are really short of money and he spent $60 on Thursday night, I could've had a facial for that but I wouldn't because I wouldve felt too guilty to spend that much on myself. In my next life i am coming back as a man LOL
-
Me niether Christine....different head spaces for blokes and women I think...we HAVE to be responsible they only have to pretend.
You should have seen Darcy and her eggs this morning. We put them near her tent and she found them right away. Only took about a minute for her to have the foil off one and a further 30seconds to breaks into it....what a champ!

-
Happy Easter ! Have eaten too much chocolate already LOL DH didn't buy me anything but MIL got me a lovely Lindt box of things.
Hope everyone has a great day and doesn't get too hyped on sugar LOL
-
lol bring on the hype I gotta keep it going all night!!
-
Just keep up the chocolate and the coffee Kim LOL
-
Yeah chocolate and coffee is about the extent of my diet today. Figure if that's all I eat can't go too wrong! LOL!!!
-
Then tomorrow all I have to do is try and do something about my stomach. CAn you see it bulging in Katy's ticker picture. Yuk....
-
My stomach is doing that lately too Leanne, I must try to limit the sundaes and cadbury family blocks. i wish I had someone to go for walks with, that may motivate me to exercise (possibly!) Can't walk with Jess cause she runs! She is training for zone cross country- she even has training in the school holidays.
Having said that we have just had Maccas for lunch LOL (look I had to drop Jess at work and it was easy!!)
ETA Leanne- it looks OK really, and katy looks gorgeous

Evening Girls!
HAPPY EASTER!!!
Back from camping. It was kinda disaterous. We did'nt think of checking wether their was going to be a strong wind warning before planning on camping at the beach. And ofcourse there was!!! It was like a sand storm!! We switched camping spots yesterday and decided to come home today!
Briley is good. Tired and teething but good. I think she is really relieved to be home and sleeping in her bed. She has been crashed since about 4pm. We tried to wake her up just before but she would'nt wake so we changed her bum and just left her.
Well i am really really tired so i will catch up with you all tomorrow. Hope you all had a lovely Easter.
Talk tomorrow!
Oh and can you guys see a new picture in my ticker??? I have tried to update it a few times but it keeps bringing up the same picture.
-
Any bright ideas on how I can lose weight once and for all. and esp seeing as I am a chocoholic. Ususally it's not in the house cause I would eat it in one go but today I have not stopped and I feel terrible.
Shazz with your PCOS do you have these problems?
I want to lose weight once and for all but not much motivation.
I am really depressed about it this evening. I just want to be thin.
-
We are back from camping for good now...I cheated and came home for a shower again this morning.
Last night wasn't the picture perfect night that we had the first night unfortunately!! I heard Jayden stirring just before 3am by 3.10am it was worse so I got up to him and it got worse, by 3.20am I had him in my arms rocking him in the tent and it got hysterical!! 1 SIL came to ask if we were ok, then another SIL came, I got out of the tent with him (still hysterical) BIL got up then a couple of nieces got up!! We had nearly the whole family up because of Jayden!! Chris said to me "Just take him home would you!!" WTF!! It was 4am by this stage, I had spent the night drinking and went to bed late and he wanted me to drive home at 4am with his son!! I don't think so!! Anyway I made him a bottle and SIL#2 gave it to him we all stood around watching him drink then giggle and talk!! Everyone went back to bed in the hope that Jayden would settle and go back to sleep........Hmmm as if, he layed between Chris and I and talked and laughed and crawled around then eventually at about 5.30am he went back to sleep. He woke again at 7am which was fine as I couldn't sleep and I was up at 6.30am anyway, but he only had 1 sleep today and still didn't fall asleep tonight until we were on our way home at 8pm and he had no chocolate today to hype him up LOL.
I'll catch up tomorrow on personals, I am too tired and looking forward to sleeping in my own bed and not a half deflated air mattress haha. Overall though camping wasn't too bad
Hope you all had a great Easter and hope all the bubs enjoyed their 1st Easter!!
oxoxoxoxox
-
Tania that sounds like an interesting trip LOL. I loathe camping, every holiday we went on as kids was camping so now I just want Motels LOL
Leanne- I know exactly where you are coming from, I feel fat so i get depressed then I eat more chocolate cause theres no point dieting and I'm depressed so its a vicious cycle. I must try to go back on the CSIRO diet cause it worked but as you say its getting the motivation.
BBL for personals going to the shops.
-
leanne ~ i don't have all the normal symptom of Pcos i have a spare tyre around my tummy and very very irregular periods i do find it difficult to lose weight but when i put my mind and soul into to it it does come off slowly though i will never have a flat tummy which is where my depression lays i'd love to look down and have a flat tummy that s why i love being pg i don't have to worry about then , i need to get back on the weight loss wagon again though i have NO self motivation.....:wall: easter is over and it is now time to get moving again ( easier said then done )
-
Maybe we should (says she with a mouthfull of easter egg in her mouth!!) Maybe we should post whenever we feel the urge to eat crap and support each other.
-
Sounds good.
Just went to Oze Pharmacy and had an hour chat with the lady there. She was so nice. The fact that I was in tears might have had something to do with that. First she started with diet and excercise blah blah blah, and when I told her my diet was okay and working full time don't have much time for rest let alone exercise she went all mushy. So I now have this low carb / sugar protein shake thing to try in between meals (not instead of),. and she almost swore by it. I am going to try to cut down the carbs and the sugar (to deal with my insulin problems), and see how we go. I too have a spare tyre around my waist and it's really getting me down (even on the anti depressants!!). If you don't mind hearing about my diet / mood roller coaster, I won't mind posting.
I have been ablet o maintain now for three months straight. all I want is to get to 75kgs once and for all.
Oh bgr, Katy's done a pooh and has managed to take her nappy off. Grr.
BBL.
-
Hey Leanne, I would be posting the same mood roller coaster diet stuff so I would love to have company LOL. I bought some fibre capsules last week in the hope they would help too.
-
i just completed Jodies weight loss challenge and came in second place which OMG how stoked was I i'm hoping Jodies starts another one soon cause i really need to get back on my wagon before all that hard work goes down the tubes ( i have no self motivation can you tell )
-
I'm in too!!!! Maybe we can set up a bay and time to just check in on MSN. 15minutes once a week can't be too hard.....we could set up a points system..some for exercise, some for kilos/percentage off....winner gets a prize....jsut musing...have silly ideas quite often.....Dragon is so tired and won't go to sleep.....mummy's eyes are hanging out.....
Back soon....
-
hope Darcy sleep tonight for you kim
i'm having trouble with Ryan not wanting me to put him to bed he only wants daddy Not Happy bout that but what can i do
-
Nat: How much does Em weigh? Has anyone’s baby reached the 10kg mark yet? Your right about the CHN panicking, I probably would have if it were someone else’s kid (although I didn’t when my niece split her head when we were in Melb…..I must just be insensitive LOL) Can’t wait to see all the pics of Em, he looks like such a little man in your MSN pic!! I haven’t heard much from Sheree but I do know they have had some problems (don’t really know what though) and they have been very busy with the business and Lachie. Lachie has 4 teeth now and is eating fantastically. That spreadsheet sounds good can you send it to me too pls?
Kim: Hows Darcy going? And you for that matter? Jayden loves dirt, leaves, grass, sand…whatever he can pick up and put in his mouth really haha. My shower was fantastic!! No offence taken on the smacking thing, I don’t agree with it but I know with some kids (like my niece & nephew) that’s all they respond to.
Leanne: I hope Kaitlyn gets better soon! Jayden knows my tone too, its funny when I tell him not to do something because he looks at me usually smiles, goes to do it again but doesn’t and finds something else to do (doesn’t always work of course)
Christine: Go out and get a facial!! If he can spend the money then so can you (and you’re probably more deserving of it) Chris used to get mad at me for spending money but then he’d come home with a big TV or a video cam or a jet ski……So I think he had no right to say anything to me about spending $100 on clothes (that I need). I don’t have money issues with him now but we do have laziness issues. We have been camping all weekend nearly and I came home and did dishes, washed clothes, cooked Jayden’s food and looked after Jayden while Chris Lazed around watching footy then he went for a nap when I had asked him to watch Jayden while I hung clothes out……Coming back as a man isn’t such a bad idea LOL. I didn’t get anything off Chris for Easter either, I got him something but I haven’t given it to him…..I might keep it for myself haha. Generally speaking I loathe camping and would definitely prefer a motel but I think because we were only 10mins away and I could come home for a shower (and snuck off to the shops for a couple of hours on Saturday) it wasn’t too bad.
Sara: Bummer about the weather!! I hope you got some rest… did Briley sleep through from 4pm? OMG if she did!! I love the pic of Briley she is such a honey!!
Shazz: I would love it if Jayden only wanted Chris to put him to bed….although he probably wouldn’t do it anyway!
This weight loss thing sounds good…..I want in too but I don’t know if I can do it (I can have a go though).
I had another shocker of a night with Jayden last night (up 4 or 5 times) He has only had 1 good sleep today and wouldn’t go to sleep until nearly 9pm and he has just woken again because of the dogs barking. I’m not going to b*tch about Chris anymore tonight but you can guess that I’m the one dealing with Jayden while he sleeps or sits on his butt telling me what I should be doing about it!!!
Well enough from me before I say how I’m really feeling haha. Night girls hope you all had a great long weekend (back to reality tomorrow)
oxoxoxox
-
Too much chocolate? Arrghh! Blasphemer!!!!
Tania and Sara I take my hat off to you guys. I don't 'do' camping. I got a call from my sister earlier and she's just got back too. The people she was with were determined to get her to like it lol.
Well I laid down with Darcy at 7 to try to get her to sleep...and I just woke up. So now with more choccie on board I'm going back to sleep :D
-
FEELING MOTIVATED WITH THE DIET TODAY ~ SAW ALL THOSE LEFT OVER CHOCKIES IN THE FRIDGE THIS MORNING AND WAS NOT EVEN TEMPTED. LET'S SEE HOW LONG THAT LASTS!!!!
MADE IT TO WORK JUST FINE. TIRED AS THOUGH ~ KAITLYN WAS UP AND HYPO FOR WHAT SEEMED DAYS LAST NIGHT.
HAVE A GOOD DAY ALL.....
ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHY MY TICKER DID NOT TICKER OVER? KATY IS 11 MONTHS AND 1 DAY TODAY. I DON'T MIND MY AGE STANDING STILL THOUGH!!!!
-
Heya Girls!!! I hope everyone had a fantastic easter!!!!
Thought I’d pop in before I wrote this assignment out and update you all on our Easter! We had a great weekend. It was so nice just to sit back and relax. I watched lots of Prison Break on DVD which was great. I did have to work on Saturday but that was fine as well and I picked up heaps of bargains for Sunday anyway! Sunday I had lunch at my folks and then we had a BBQ at a friends place which was great. It was so nice to get out and do something as a family as a change. We manage to get time on our own as Em is normally in bed early but seeing as I work Sundays and G has Lucas on Saturdays we find it hard to do family stuff. But yea it was a great Easter anyway!
Has anyone seen 300? We’re going to see it at the movies in the next few weeks as I got 2 tickets for $9.50 through my union!
Kim ~ I got the instruments from Kmart. They are the First Act Discovery brand. I can’t wait to give them to him!! He plays on my mums keyboard and just loves it!! Absolutely no offence with the smacking comments!
Sara ~ EEEK @ the sand storm what a pain!
Tania ~ Ouch at your bad night with Jayden crying. Nothing worse then having everyone trying to help you either! Last time I had Em weighed he was still only 9kgs. He is due to be weighed again next week though. Hey do you think I can just stand him on the scales now lol? Glad to hear that she is doing well. I miss her!!! I will get to that email after I finish this assignment lol!!!
Christine ~ I love the family pic in your ticker!!!
Leanne ~ I loved that pic of Katy you had up before. Not that I don’t love this one but the other one was just divine! Your ticker has ticked over now. It might have something to do with the time settings.
Okay for the weight loss thing – I think you’re all beautiful the way you are!!! But I’m in too (please don’t shoot me lol). I don’t want to loose weight but I’m desperate to change my eating habits (no more take away) and increase my water intake. I also want to start exercising as well.
Well I suppose I better get to this report… I was meant to start it at 2 pmsl!!! I got my first report back and I got a credit which isn’t too bad as it definitely wasn’t my best work!
Who else was it that wanted the spreadsheet? I remember someone asking and I’ve read back but I can’t see it…. Hmmmm
-
evening girls
i just got back from seeing" wild hogs" oh so funny i really needed a good laugh today it's only 8 more days of having a baby in the house i could just cry .....

Don't have a treadmill but have used mum's a couple of times. Get bored on it really quickly. (like after 10 minues), whereas when walking outside theres more to see etc.
HAve an exercise bike that I should probably dust off and use more LOL!
Off to bed. Farmer DAve's out of Dancing with the Stars, so I am one happy camper.
Nite
-
Hi everyone. I have been MIA for a while (noticed I wasn't missed though LOL). Had my mum down for the first week of the holidays and then had a bad teething experience over Easter...not much sleep was had but it is through now thank goodness.
Cooper is going well...I can't believe our bubs are turning 1 soon. We are planning his 1st birthday party...should be fun.
Its been too long to do personals sorry, but will try to be 'regular' again now that things are back to normal. Only a few more days left of the holidays  I have loved being at home with Cooper. He says 'hello' now which is very cute, and waves and gives beautiful hugs and big sloppy wet open mouthed kisses which I cant get enough of. I love this age, he is getting so affectionate.
Anyway, just thought I would pop in while I can. Its late, so going to bed. Just went out for Thai for our 2nd wedding anniversary and I am so full and bloated.
Talk to you all soon,
Alison
-
Alison of course you were missed...... good to hear that Cooper is doing well.
and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
Better get ready for work ugh.
BB tonight for a chat if someone's in.
Day two of diet - so far so good
-
Morning girls,
I have a question. Should i be getting BH this early in the pregnancy??? I have woken up thismorning with period like pains that are coming like contractions. I am not quite sure what too do. They are'nt painful but its kinda worrying. I was thinking about calling the Birth Suite but i dont want to seem like a drama queen.
Any suggestions???
