Well thank you very much Allison! we like to think so.
Shazz ~ Awwwww @ you being anxious leaving Ryan. I’m glad you enjoyed the movies though and I hope that next time you are able to relax more! And yes I understand the lurking part Shazz. Sometimes I enjoy just reading as its way too much effort to try and post one handed!!!
Vic ~ How did you go at the sales? I’m thinking of heading there myself sometime soon. I also get a further 7.5% discount there as well which is great!
Kellee ~ ROFL @ your quick one! I haven’t had another incident like that one which I’m very grateful for. He’s being an angel for his mother actually! So glad to hear that you are enjoying your time with DH. And its great that you’ve got the extra time to spend with Charlie as well. The sing-a-long sounds like fun too!
Mummy ~ The implant didn’t hurt at all. They put a local in first which stings a little but even that didn’t hurt as much as normal. I was in and out in 10 mins!!! It turned out that AF arriving was a blessing in disguise as they like to put the implant in while you have AF so they’re 100% certain you’re not pregnant! My arm was a bit sore the next day though – no biggie I just noticed it.
Shan ~ That is great that with the implant you didn’t have AF – fingers crossed that I don’t either. I’m not a big fan LOL. I hope you got some sleep and don’t beat yourself up over the crying/sick thing. I do things all the time and realise AFTERWARDS what he was trying to tell me… ooops!
Baby_Crazy05 ~ Sorry I must have meant Jess and wrote it in the wrong place LMAO! I have added you to my MSN contacts so hopefully we can chat the next time you are on! I hope Jovi is still gaining weight. We have our immunizations next week and I’m getting a little nervous about them – eeek!! I can’t imagine causing my little bubba pain so its going to be interesting! I’ll probably be more upset then him LOL.
Kim ~ I understand – anything that requires you getting up when its dark is nighttime LMAO!! Bummer about the top but so nice of your mum to go shopping with you and buy you new clothes! You must feel great! And yay for Darcy being in her cot. Em is still in his bassinet because of his snuffy nose. I’ll put him in his cot soon enough though. Not sure what to do with the bassinet now LOL!
Not much going on with us. Em is going great – I’m still getting 6 -7 hrs sleep a night out him which I’m eternally grateful for. We’ve been having more tummy time and he is starting to hold his head up real high. I have a feeling he’s going to be an early crawler like his mummy was!! He is also paying more attention to his toys and hitting them with his hands and starting to talk to them. I love hearing him gurgle and try to make him do it more and he’ll just stop and stare at me real seriously LOL!! He is just adorable!! Well I better get going – so much to do and so little time. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
ETA ~ We are really enjoying tummy time and funnily enough it seems to clear his nose out LMAO!! He gets heaps of snot out his nose that way LOL! Just had to share that for some reason!!
Just a quick one gals, Lachie is getting a bit whingy.
Lachie was unbearable yesterday and so hard to settle. All day he just cried and everytime I got him to sleep and put him down in his basinette he would wake up and continue crying. I think he had really bad wind that he just couldn't pass, he hardly farted nor pooed and normally in a day he would do at least 3 poos and he only did one, late in the afternoon. So seeing as he wouldn't sleep, he was then overtired and also he just wanted to feed feed feed. I ran out of milk by 5pm, and boy was I fretting. I live in a small town and thought how am I going to feed this boy. A friend tracked down some formula incase I needed it (but thankfully I did not). He was so hysterical he would not take to the dummy, but my friend taught me a trick and that was to put him on the boob and release and quickly put the dummy in his mouth, worked a treat. He was just comfort sucking the poor little mite. He just wouldn't stop crying. We gave him some panadol and I think it worked as Wade finally got him down at 11pm and he slept until 5am the next morning. It was a very very long day.
Today he has been all smiles and giggles, first time I have seen so many (as b4 there were very few and far between), it was sweet and it made me very happy to see he was not in pain today.
Oh and those of you who said I look fab, OMG who were you looking at I still have 10kgs to loose to just b4 pre-pregnancy then I want to loose even more I was was overweight when I fell pregnant.
Hope you all have a nice nite and weekend.
Hello all.
Well, I don’t know how long this post will end up being because I’m at Mum and Dad’s and their computer is SO slow it’s driving me crazy! But I’ll try anyway…
Shazz – poor little Ryan with his cold. I hope that he’s feeling better soon. Is he still sleeping well?
Baby Crazy – poor little Jovi with the needles! I hope it passes soon, but I’m sure it’s normal. Charlie is usually a bit weird for a couple of days after his needles too.
Kim – glad to hear that Darcy is settling well. It makes all the difference, doesn’t it? Hooray for sleeping until 9! I hope that lasts too. 4.30 is just too early to be getting up at this time of year. Yay for shopping too – what a nice Mum you have!
Lea – sounds like Em is so cute playing with his toys. Toby is just starting to make little noises too – it’s so cute, isn’t it? Wait until you start getting laughs… you’ll do anything to get them and when you do it’s the best sound in the world.
Sheree – hope Lachie’s wind pain passes. Toby can get it really bad sometimes too. It’s hard because there’s only so much we can do to help them, the poor things. Glad you sorted out the dummy thing too. We haven’t given Toby a dummy, but when he’s got wind pain I find that sometimes putting a clean finger in his mouth to suck helps him pass the wind/poo. For some reason the sucking action works a treat.
Hello to everyone else too.
I can’t wait to look at everyone’s updated websites. Haven’t had much time on the computer lately, and I’d do it now except that this computer is horrible and slow and it would make me just want to throw it out the window. Had a nice day today, even though I wasn’t expecting to. I went for afternoon tea with my best friend who, while she is very nice, is quite self-absorbed at times. She’s always going on about how busy SHE is, and how tired SHE is, like I wouldn’t know what she’s on about. No, with two kids under two how could I possibly be stressed and tired? Never! LOL (Hang on, that sounded bad – I know she’s busy, but she makes it sound like what she’s doing is so much more important than what I’m doing, IYKWIM, and that’s what makes me cross.) So I expected that today would be more of the same and I would come away feeling bad, but it was great in the end. Toby was lovely too – he slept the whole time and let me imagine for a little while that I have a life of my own! He’s been such a good boy recently, and is so cute. I’m staying at Mum and Dad’s tonight with him, and it’s nice to have some one-on-one time with him – it’s the first time since we were in hospital that it’s just been he and I. When Charlie was little I used to stay over here about once a week to give DH a proper sleep so he could function properly at work, so I’ll probably do the same with both the kids once every week or so as well. It’s a nice break anyway – a change of scenery does us good – and my brother and his fiancé live in a granny flat out the back so I get to catch up with everyone too. Not much planned in the next week or so other than RELAXING, so that should be nice. Anyway, I’m waffling – just filling in time until Toby wakes up for his next feed (which should be anytime now) – so I’ll stop boring you! Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Lea - just a quick one, the IUD is a Inter Uterine Device that is inserted into the Uterus. Not sure if it has the same effect as the implanon so I hope I havent given you false hopes for no AF!
wow its so quiet in here - where is everyone. Am I the only one with no life?
Well, we figured out what was wrong with Jovi ... the little bugger is TEETHING!!! She's been drooling something shocking, her hands are her favourite toy (and somehow she thinks she can have her bottle and chew her hands at the same time) and now I know why she's been off her bottle a bit.
She had a much better day yesterday though which was good and after a small dose of panodol she slept from 9pm - 7 am which was amazing ... though I still kept waking up though ... lol
Just had a screaming match with her whilst TRYING to rock her to sleep ... put her down and DH had to pick her up again straight away ... his turn I say! lol Bum for him cos he's trying to watch the Sunday Roast and she wants to listen/watch her "Live" DVD ... lol ... she's so tired but never wants to give in ...
Will take her for another weigh in this week ... hopefully she's still going great guns ... she definitely is feeling heavier ... ask my back and arm! lol
Hello all! Lovely day here in Sydney. The wedding last night was good. I actually blowdryed my hair (I have heaps of hair and as it takes ages I rarely get the chance), wore makeup and stilettos. I used to wear real high heels all the time but I think they were a bit ambitious for the first time in twleve months. Darcy had heaps of cuddles, but the poor little thing, you know they have an off day once a week? Hers was yesterday. We had about 1.5hours sleep Friday night and she wouldn;t sleep during the day either. She was so tired and whingy, nothing helped. Nor did a noisy reception where she only slept about 20minutes twice. I finally put her dow around 1am, didn't hear her whinge until 5.55. I picked her up and by the time I got her to my bed she had gone back to sleep so I left her. 8.45 she cried. She;s still pretty tired and is even having a sleep right now. Very unusual for her.
Lea isn;t hte interaction great? Darcy has had a VERY strong head since birth. In fact she's never been floppy and so has enjoyed being on her tummy forever. She has been able to push herself up since about 2wks and roll over since about 4. Currently if I prop her up she tries very hard to sit forward! She can also manage to get herself over a cushion if she is lying on her belly on it by kicking her legs! I think I'm going to have ot child proof my hiuse quicker than I thought....
Vic, great abotu your new computer and at least hte kids aren't bothered by htere snuffles....it could be worse they could all have the chicken pox at once....LOL only joking, no hax intended.
Sheree, hows Lachie today?
Baby crazy....that exactly what Darcy's been doing (Oh the dribble!!!)....uhoh.... Hope it's not too painful for Jovi, poor love.
Kellee, I love your blog! Gee you're entertaining. I loved the bit about the eviction of the bad tenant. It was just how I felt and I wasn't even over due! Wonder if you would mind if I used your words for a scrapbook page (I will acknowledge you)?
Hope everyone else is having a lovely weekend.
Kim
Fletch, wow thanks for the compliment. I believe you might actually live near me. If you want I am happy for you to come and have a look at it and I could explain.
Otherwise, I measured, did some figures (divided the wall by four), the diamonds are xcm across and then 2xcm high. then I worked out where the middle of each diamond was (for the top and the bottom) and how far they needed to be across the wall. Basically I pencilled it all in and then used low tack tape to mask and then just painted it having painted the base colour first.
The thin stripes are actually ribbon that I have used a hot glue gun to stick to the wall.
Easy but the calculations and markings are a bit fiddly. I also had to paint the diamonds alternately (ie first and third then second and fourth) cos the tape gets in the way.
I have sent an email as well with my address is you're interested in having a look.
Hehe Fletch for being in here, but you are right Kim's feature wall is great, I have always admired it.
OMG Babies teething already, what tha........
Well Lachie is on again off again, more good then bad, but we think he is getting better then it is bad again. Getting lots of smiles and giggles so hopefully that is a good sign for improvement.
Gosh Vic - hope your household gets better soon.
I have been told by my SIL's friend who is a midwife to go and get a 2nd opinion re: my wound, she said how i have been treated just isn't good enough! For me to wait another 6 weeks and there to be an absys and have to have another operation just really is not good enough. So will make an appt for my gp this week, even if I have to travel to the next town to see a specialist I will do it!
As for Lachie have to have his poo tested this week for Lactose intolerance, see how we go.
Hope you all had a nice weekend.
Snap Sheree!!
GOod on you for seeking another opinion. I agree with your SIL. That has to be one of the most unprofessional things I have heard.
Yeah thanks Kim, will definitely go get that second opinion, not keen to go back to the gyno here who is the only one here in town too, will travel to the next town 1 1/2 hours away if i have to. Am going to request a scan to see what is going on!
Just a question ladies, not sure if this pain I am feeling is from my caesar or not, but every morning after sleeping or during the day after sleeping I get so sore in the pubic bone region, it just aches and I have to change position which does not always help. Been happening for a while, is it all the ligaments/joints going back into position? If so this has been happening for a while, has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Isn't this sleeping thing hard with our babies, he was getting good, sleeping anywhere from 5-7 hours (start of feed to start of next), and it was more the 6 or 7 hour range, now we are lucky to get 3-4 hours, back to being sleep deprived. Must be part of a growth spurt thing hey? During the day he is feeding as early as every 2 hours too. He soooo does not sleep during the day much, Nana was here yesterday and could not believe that he could stay awake all day and only cat nap for minutes. Even at night after a feed it is taking me so long now to get him back to sleep that I get so desperate of sleep and I shuv the dummy in his mouth and turn off the light. I hate using the dummy as I find he does not get in a deep sleep and wakes up earlier then I want him too, geezzzz the joys of motherhood, no god dam day is the same. Nana and I even took him for a long walk yesterday and nope still wide awake when we returned. Last time this bloomey worked, grrr..... But the good news is, is that Wade and I were just so tired and went to lay down today as a family in the big boys bed as Wade calls it and yep lachie cried, I picked him up and nursed him with a shhhhhhhhh shhhhhhhh for about 30secs and out like a light. We all had a good 2 hours and Lachie is still asleep, yeahhhhhhh!!!!!!!! I just hate to hear him cry, he gets so hysterical, he wouldn't even attach onto my boob yesterday he was soooo upset. My friend told me that she read in a book that boys you should try not to let boys cry too long they tend to be more violent and agressive in their older life, what tha.... she can't remember where she read it.
Howdy,
Shan – don’t worry, I have no life either, just have been too tired to post!
Baby Crazy – wow, Jovi is an early teether, huh? Don’t let the doctors tell you it’s not teething though – because it’s so early I bet that they’ll say it isn’t, but YOU know her best and you know what’s going on. Hope she’s gaining weight well, but it sounds like she is.
Vic – YAY for your new ‘puter! That’s rad. Don’t worry, ours is relatively new too and I know how exciting it is, you’re not pathetic. Or, at least, if you are so am I. Sorry the kids are all crook too. I suppose it must always go through the whole family if one gets sick, worse luck. Oh well, they’ll all have excellent immune systems because of it.
Kim – Glad you enjoyed the wedding. A social outing must have been nice – wish I could get out too, and it’s nice to have an opportunity to dress up. Poor little Darcy with her sleeping too – maybe she’s going through a growth spurt like Toby. She sounds so strong! You’ll have an early crawler and walker on your hands, I bet. YES you can use ‘my words’ on your scrapbooking page, as long as you post a pic of it when you’re finished so I can see it. You scrapbookers are so clever. I wish I could be as creative as that.
Sheree – it’s always two steps forward and one step back with babies, so it sounds like Lachie’s being pretty normal! The smiles and giggles must be gorgeous. Good on you for getting another opinion too. Even though I hope it isn’t anything serious, at least if someone else diagnoses you early then you can get it fixed early too. You poor thing – how is your wound going? Re: no day being the same… I know, it sucks, but try to tell yourself that it’s only temporary and he can’t possibly cry forever. It seems to get me through anyway! Oh dear about what your friend told you… Toby will be a very violent boy then – sometimes it’s hard to get to him straight away when I have Charlie to run around after too. I think you need to take that kind of info with a grain of salt.
Well, we had a ripper of a night last night. For some reason, Toby just didn’t want to sleep. We eliminated all possibilities (hungry/nappy/wind) and couldn’t figure out for the life of us what was wrong with him. It was really upsetting because he usually settles so well, and I hated not being able to help him. Consequently we got about 3 hours of broken sleep, and poor Charlie kept being woken up by Toby’s crying, so we were all feeling great today! Oh well… in the end I’m just putting it down to one of those horrible growth spurts they go through. I remember having terrible growing pains as a teenager, and Toby must be going through that kind of pain x 100, so I understand. I just wish there was something I could do to help. We’ve dropped Charlie at Mum’s tonight in case Toby is the same tonight – I didn’t think it was fair for him to go through it to when there was an alternative for him. Toby was really upset still today and screamed for AGES – the only thing I could do was feed him to sleep in our bed, and he’s been asleep on and off since then (so have I, thank goodness, or I would barely be able to type from tiredness!). I’m just waiting for dinner to cook and letting DH have a sleep in there with him. Poor DH – he looked after Charlie all day while I was settling Toby, and didn’t get a sleep himself so I don’t want to wake him. Anyway, might go and start on the never-ending mountain of washing (it’s bigger than Everest at the moment) while all is calm. Have a lovely night, everyone.
Kellee ... mum said i started teething early too (actually i did most things early ... crawled at 4.5 months too) ... and i def. agree with going with ur gut
I'll probably miss u all today, but Darcy had her needles this morning. She only cried a bit (and I didn't cry at all). Don't think she's having any dramas aside from being a bit unsettled.
I can't find my purse ATM, so asked Cam to bring some baby panadol home just in case....he's just got stuck at the station with some major charges and won't be home for hours.....bet I need that panadol...grrrr.
ETA I finally updated Darc's website.
Hello ladies
Just wanted to update you all on Patricks weight.
Last Monday - 3020g
Today - 3280g
So he's up by 260g
Hi Girls
Hope everyone is well....Phoebe had her needles today, OMG she well and truly got started and took ages to stop crying and settle. I have never heard her cry like that...she even had little tears (little sweetheart). I must admit I had a few tears in my eyes. She has been a bit unsettled since and feeding on and off with little cat naps in between. I gave her a dose of Panadol just to help her along and she has finally settled...Thank god. I noticed while at the doctors that since my son was last in being immunised they have added the Chicken Pox Vaccination to the schedule. So the nurse gave Samuel that one today also....the nurse also mentioned that adults that were born between 1966 and 1980 may not have had their booster shots for the measles so my DH copped that one today and I chickened out and I will have that one when Phoebe goes back for her 4mnth immunisation.(DH was not happy...LOL) Phoebe's weight gain has been quite good, but she in the past 3 wks she has only put on 270 grams. She has been gaining on average 200grams a week and now it has dropped to less than 100 grams a week. I'm pretty worried about this as I ran into troubles with my sons weight gain at 3-4mths....but Phoebe most of the time is content and feeds well. Girls do you think I should be worried????
Take Care X
Scrappy, had a squiz at Darcy's website....what a gorgeous precious little girl you have there.
I have been so slack with posting in here. I am really sorry. Those mums with more than 1 child make me look bad as they get on here and post heaps and I don't. I have no excuse :)
Everyone seems to going well. Seems as though we are all at the immunisation stage in our babies lives. How many needles do they have? DH was going to take Cooper because I know I wont be able to handle it, but I dont see the point in him losing a days pay just for that. Looks as though I am going to have to be brave. He had a bloodtest last week which I was there for, so that can help prepare me. I have the panadol ready :)
Kim, its so good Darcy didnt cry much with her needles. You were very brave too. I'm nervous about getting Cooper done, but my mum keeps telling me we are doing it for their good and they wont remember.
Sheree, hope your 2nd opinion gives you a better idea of what is going on. You poor thing, you have had a tough ride so far as far as the caesar goes.
Kellee, hope Toby slept better and you got some rest.
Neverplan...what can I say, you must be wonderwoman with your work load. 4 kids, work and a home!!! I struggle with 1 child and a home. I will think of you next time I complain to DH about lack of time to get things done.
Hi to everyone else, hope you are having a good week.
Neverplan- I applaud you. 4 kids, work and running a household is hard work. 6 kids is hard work as well, but I don't have the job part or really the house aspect!
My 6 are quiet atm, 4 of them are eating, while the two youngest are asleep! They go into the house around 10 to 8 so then I am down to trying to keep 2 asleep!
delta_blue - at 2 months they get 2 needles, one in either leg (so they can monitor any possible reaction, though not likely). Jovi had her little tears too which was soooo cute (though upsetting at the same time).
This starting to teethe business is aweful! I cried with her for half an hour today cos it didn't matter what I tried to do to calm her nothing worked, then I finally came out of the bedroom with her screaming and got her a bottle and DH is like "What are you doing to her?" Yeah like that makes me feel better ... turd! So of course she stopped screaming as soon as she went to him ... grrrrr.
Other than some serious screaming matches, everything else is going ok. She's gooing and gaaing heaps lately and can fit her whole fist in her mouth when she's on a mission to chew the heck out of it. Quite cute really.
Might be having DH's mum here over the weekend which won't be so bad. We get on really well which is a good thing.
Anyway ... weigh in tomorrow. I left it until today to make an appointment and for the first time can't get in until 3:30 ... normally we see the nurse around 10ish. I just hope our "nice nurse" is on and not the others. Feel way more comfortable with her.
Anyway ... last bottle time and probably bed (looked at the clock last night and was shocked that it was 1am!).
Hello everyone,
Kim – glad that Darcy’s needles seemed to go ok. It’s always a bit scary for the first few hours, but it’s a necessary evil unfortunately.
Jess – way to go Patrick! That’s great about his weight gain. What a cute pic on your ticker too!
Mummy – wow, sounds like your family really had the jabs! I hate needles, so I’m glad I don’t have to have any for a while! Maybe Phoebe is just going through a phase with her weight and it will pick up again soon – did Samuel’s weight start to pick up after he had that lull at 3-4 months? If she’s feeding well I’m sure she’s fine.
Vic – right, now I know I shouldn’t whinge! I only have one extra screaming child to deal with, but two more would be tough. I really hope you’ve managed to get some sleep since you last posted! Adam sounds just like Toby with his sleeping/feeding patterns too – not awake much through the day but feeding and going back to sleep well each time. Three times through the night isn’t too bad.
Alison – how’s it all going? Hope Cooper is going well.
Baby Crazy – poor Jovi. I remember that the only thing that used to settle Charlie was a bf and some SM33 gel, and sometimes that wouldn’t even work. It must really hurt, the poor things. Hopefully she gets a few at once and doesn’t have to go through agony for every single tooth. Hope the weigh in goes well too.
Hello to everyone else too.
Just staying awake for a little bit longer… Toby had his last feed at about 9.30, but he had this funny rash on one side of the top of his head, so I will wait and check the rash again in half an hour or so to see if it’s getting any worse. I think it’s probably nothing – there’s no fever and he’s fine in every other respect – and DH thinks it might be a beard rash from when he was settling him in the dark before he went to sleep (he’s just shaved and it’s all *****ly!). After he mentioned that I can see that it certainly looks like beard rash, so let’s hope that’s all it is. Otherwise he’s doing well – seems to be out of that screaming thing, thank goodness! He was a little unsettled last night, but I think that was either because of the onion I ate or the tea (caffeinated, which is unusual for me atm) I drank. Have stopped having both those things now so I’ll see if it makes a difference. Busy week or so coming up – my Nana is flying up tomorrow to visit (she’s coming up specifically to meet Toby), then DH has two pieces that he wrote premiered at the Brisbane Festival, then the day after Nana leaves there are more visitors coming (they’re all staying at Mum’s house but I’ll be over there quite a bit). Should be interesting.
Anyway, might go and check on the boy soon. Hope you’re all well.
Never ~ Fortunately Phoebe hasn't stopped gaining, but her weight gain has slowed quite dramatically. But what I don't understand is that she is a very content little girl. She feeds well and sleeps extremely well. If she wasn't get enough milk surely she wouldn't be as happy as she is. I have noticed the past 2 times at the doctors, that when they weigh her they put the scales on the padded bed in the room. Now I know that normal bathroom scales to weigh us you should put the scales on hard ground and not on carpet as the scales won't give a accurate reading, I wonder if it is the same as scales used to weigh babies and if where they are putting the scales is making it read inaccurately. To me she looks extremely well feed and still appears to be gaining. But I think I will definately have it checked out.
Kellee ~ Samuel began to lose weight at 4 mths. It was a number of factors that contributed to it. My AF had returned, which the doctors believed changed my milk slightly and he picked up on it....also Samuel started to become a very lazy feeder and wasn't sucking through the hind milk and this effected my milk supply. It took near on a month to work out and explain why (after many tests) he was losing weight and ultimately he went on to formula.....But Phoebe is feeding no differently then what she was a month ago, so I can't really explain the lack of weight gain. I do tend to think that because she has been averaging large weight gains in the past that it just slowed for a little while and will pick up again. (it is a little strange....as I have said before she is so happy and content nothing appears to be wrong..it just doesn't make sense)
I'm sure everything is fine. I remember having so many times with Charlie when I was worried that he wasn't feeding properly/my supply was dropping/he wasn't putting on the ridiculous amount of weight that he previously had been, and it turned out to be for nothing because he was still thriving and everything was fine. I think sometimes we put too much emphasis on the numbers (not that they don't have their place). We know our bubs best, and provided they're not actually losing weight and they're still content then we're probably in a better position to guage it than the doctors are. You'll know if something is wrong, I'm sure. Do you have a GP you can trust? Raise it with him or her, and keep an eye on it, but it sounds like she's doing so well. I love your little pic too! So cute. Makes me want to go and have a look at my sleeping one... they're just so precious at this age, aren't they?
Anyway, I REALLY am going to bed now!
Good morning all
hope you are all well, we are battling colds here and i must say i'm not coping well at all my head feels like it is ready to explode boo hoo for me ( god i'm a whinner )
any hoo Ryan is i think starting to feel a little better i went and brought nasal drops for him and he seems to be sleeping a little better although we still are getting up 3- 4 times through the night he feeds and settles pretty much straight away
Kim ~ Thank you so much for the book it brought tears to my eyes i have read every page and reread some every night and i do believe i am feeling better for it
any way i had better get something done while little man is sleeping i'll be back later if any one is a round
GOsh Baby Crazy, u got a good sleep out of your little one, she must have been exhausted. I keep thinking mine is teething too but I am not really sure. Does she still manage to sleep that well now?
Is anyone feeding their babies formula finding that their little ones wont ever drink the whole dose? I am worried about this with mine but she still is getting fatter though. She used to be a guts and now is not and is still starving in the night time. Confusing anyway. I bet she will sleep better once on some farex and solids .Count down till 6 months time hey?
Vic, no idea where you could meet other mums with kids, but just had to say...how rude of that lady to say that to you. That is shocking people skills. I'm bored at home during the week too, not enough conversation happening here. I am spending so much time on the computer in forums, thats my interaction with other people 'sigh'.
Neverplan, not sure where abouts on the Sunshine Coast you live? We try to have QLD meet-ups every month or so but it's definately been a while. I'm hoping to have my license by the end of the month, so maybe we can have a meet-up on the northside to make it closer for you? :)
P.S - Just want to say that the woman was SO rude to you! Doesn't matter whether you have 1 kid or 10 children; it doesn't mean you don't need to socialise because you have more than 1!
Afternoon Girls,
Never ~ how rude is that, no matter how many children you have, support is definately needed...And we all need to socialise otherwise we would all go insane.
Angelique ~ Katerina will take as much as she needs, unfortunately it does mean some wasted formula. Formula takes longer for babies to digest and so sits in their little tummys longer. Breast milk is digested quite quickly and usually that is why BF babies feed more often. You could try giving her a top up feed before you go to bed of perhaps 50mls (say around 10pm) this might tie her over a little longer during the night. You can introduce solids (rice cereal) from 4mths...but I quess this is still 2mths away.
Well I'm not having much luck getting much done today. Phoebe has been alittle unsettled....this must be her off day for the week. I might give her a warm bath to calm and relax her (usually works a treat). Samuel has woken with a temp and rosy red cheeks...His second molars haven't come through yet. Had a look in his mouth and it looks like they are cutting their way through, so he is a bit of a grumpy bum.
It must be the full moon. Everyone sounds a bit off this week.
Vic - that lady was a cow!!!! Her ears mustbe red today, cos I know we''ve all thought bad thoughts about her.
Shazz, I'm so glad you like it.
Babycrazy, Ihave no adivse cos I'm clueless, but I'm thinking of you both.
Mummy, Darcy has slowed almost to the same rate as Phoebe in her weight gain (only 30g mor I think). I didn;t know I should worry. I just figured it was becasue of her masive gains early on. I really hope Samuel is feeling better.
Kell, hope the rash went away and that Charlie got some sleep.
Darcy has been sleeping longer at night without a feed. Last night at 10-30pm - arroung 4.30am, but I managed to put her back to sleep (in my bed, but who cares) until 6.30. THen she fed and went straight back to sleep for 2 hours, so at least I'm not getting up roo early. However it's not consistent, so we'll just have to see. And she won;t sleep in her own bed past 4.30am. Guess I just have to be tougher. She is better in the car now though. Only screams half the time LOL gee she hates it. After muching fighting between us she has finally gone down for a sleep in the daytime!!! Yayay.
Did the housework with her for the first time yesterday. Gee it's hard lugging someone else around.
Nat and Sheree and anyone else, hope you're well.
OK she's awake again....grrrr
Jovi's sleeping ok ... when she gets to sleep! Some nights she's ok and we'll be in bed by 11pm, then other nights it might be 1am! She's been shocking during the day though. Took her for a weigh in today and the nurse could tell she was exhausted, but the little bugger didn't want to sleep. DH's is rocking her off now but she still has a habit of waking up a few minutes after you put her down ... little bugger. She's usually pretty good though when we're all going to bed, just have to get her day time sleeping fixed up ... it makes her so cranky.
We have given her a little panodol when she gets really sore and upset (which also works well for the sleeping!). She loves that dummy, but loves her hands and wants everything in there at once.
She's put on another 150g this week and is up to 4350g which is awesome. She should put on between 150-250g from now on. Will probably have her weighed every couple of weeks now. Very proud ...
Sheree ~ Em has been the same with smiles and giggles. It was hard work to get them until late last week where he was suddenly just flashing them left right and centre – its so adorable isn’t it? Just makes your heart melt! I hope you get that second opinion as well – I don’t think its good enough personally (Though I’ve never had a c-section!)
Kellee ~ We’ve had a few chuckles which have just been adorable!! And yes we’re doing anything to get more LOL. I didn’t think of the growing pains being like that for our little ones – painful indeed! How did that rash go?
Shan ~ Sorry for the misunderstanding – I’m lead to believe that with the implant you can not have AF as well so fingers crossed!!
Baby_Crazy05 ~ Teething OMG!! Nice and early for you!!! Em has been doing similar stuff and I thought I was going nuts to be honest. Then mum said to me today ‘Do you think he’s teething?” LOL. So I’m not sure. Em is getting a red rash come and go on his face, is off his bottle during the day and just wants to bite! I’m so glad that I’m not breastfeeding LMAO!! Argh about handing Jovi straight to DH and having her stop crying – talk about timing LOL. When that happens to me DP says – ‘Don’t worry I know you just did all the hard work’ the sweety LOL. Good to hear she’s gaining weight.
Shazz ~ It must be awful with you both having colds – I hope you’re both feeling better soon! I think its great that Kim took the time and effort to send you something that obviously is helping. I really appreciate our group here! Big hugs sweety!
Angelique ~ Em has never had the required amount. The tin says he should have 120mls 6 times a day. He’s always had about 5. I’ve stopped working it out now. Sometimes he’ll have 150mls others only 100mls and others 50mls… but he’s gaining weight and he’s happy so I think its fine. If you think she’s ready you can start some solids at 4 months. And my interaction is on the net as well!!!
Vic ~ Glad you to don’t have to ‘share’ anymore LMAO!! And a new laptop would excite me too LOL. And I think you’re a hero with the amount of stuff to do. I’m flat out with just Em and no work! Don’t feel as though you’re not doing any of it properly – your multi-tasking LOL. And OMG Vic I can’t believe they wouldn’t let you come to the mothers group and couldn’t even recommend anything else. That would make me absolutely furious. I was seeing red when I saw your post! What is it with some people!?!? Have you done a search on mothers groups in the area? Do you post in the Local Thread in queensland? You might find some other BB’rs that live close by?? - LOL just realise that Becka popped in!
Kim ~ I feel so guilty because I didn’t even start tummy time till the last few weeks. I don’t even know why I didn’t lol. In fact it was until after 2 weeks that I even laid him on the floor here. Though it is unbelievably cold here… I think you might be child proofing sooner then you thought as well!! Em rolls over back onto his back when he is put on his tummy LOL. And the wedding sounds great – its good you got to dress up! And I love your feature wall as well – so much effort!! I’m glad that Darcy’s shots went well. LOL @ lugging her around doing housework! And I can’t believe she hates the car – that must make life difficult.
Alison ~ Has Cooper had his shots yet? How did you go?
Jess ~ So glad to hear that Pat is putting on weight.
Mummy ~ WOW you definitely had a ‘shots’ day LMAO. Poor little Phoebe – I hope she’s okay now! I hope she’s starting to gain more weight to. Hope Samuel is going okay now.
So sorry I’ve been a bit MIA lately girls. I’ve tried personals so I hope that I’ve gotten everyone so sorry if I’ve missed something! I’ve been reading but not finding the time to post! I honestly haven’t been home in ages LOL! I’ve barely had time to catch my breath let alone post especially with Em being fussy in the afternoons. We have our immunizations tomorrow which will be interesting. I’m more interested to see how I cope LOL! DP is coming with me at least. At least we will get him weighed again! The sales went excellently – I spent WAY too much (around $300) on Emerson for Christmas. He is going to be very spoilt considering what his father will get him alone with countless others!!! I had a great day and even managed to pick up 3 matching bra and brief sets for $35 which I was rapt with! I’m trying to remember what I did yesterday and I can’t lol… I’ll get back to you all.
Also just a reminder for people to edit their posts rather then do a double post. If it doesn’t work try going into the advanced option and save from there. Thanks girls.
GL today/tomorrow???? Nat with Emersons Immunisations, ouchy!!!! Hope all goes well. Lachie has his this Tuesday. His poor little body, with Losec (for reflux) - being pumped into it, Mylanta. I am so sick of stuffing him with this stuff. And he is starting to get a cold, thought it was just a tickle in the throat intially, but now it has a chuckle in it, poor little thing, just don't seem to be having a good run with things. Makes me very sad at times, I never thought motherhood would be this hard! I just want my little boy to be better and not cry after a feed. A feed is meant to make them happy isn't it!!!! *Crying* *Crying* *Crying*
morning all
to those about to embark on needles good luck (* i cried more then Ryan did )
i just got back from baby clinic where we had bub weighed he only gained 70 grams this week instead of his normal 200grams but he has been unwell so we will see what next week brings
oh and i have started walking again did 4 laps of our local recreaction (sp) ground this morning i'd say close to 4 km maybe more i feel nackered but energised at the same time hopefully i will start sleeping better
be back later
Shazz – bugger the colds. Hope you’re feeling better soon. Glad to hear that you’re feeling better about thing too.
Vic – I can’t believe the attitude of the woman at the baby session! That’s so rude! I REALLY wish I lived closer to you… then all our kids could play together and it would all be fine. Why can’t you get into a playgoup? That sucks. I’m going to bite the bullet and go to one once DH is back at work. Sorry I can’t give you any ideas, apart from driving down here to visit me! If you put a post in the playgroups forum they might have some suggestions.
Angelique – sorry I can’t give you any suggestions on the formula as I’ve never used it, but it sounds like the other gals are able to give you some advice anyway.
Mummy – your poor little fellas. Hope they’re having better days today and that Samuel’s molars come through soon and without incident.
Kim – yeah, I was thinking it was the full moon too! But yay for Darcy sleeping longer, that’s great. Toby won’t sleep in his own bed past about 6 either (usually earlier), it’s such a pain! I would insist on it, but I don’t want his crying to wake Charlie up at that time otherwise I’ve got both of them up that early… no thanks! Don’t worry about the car, I’m sure she’ll get used to it soon.
Baby Crazy – sounds like Jovie’s doing well with her weight. That’s great.
Lea – wow, I figured you’d been busy – our most regular poster MIA for so long! Sounds like you’ve been having fun though. Hope the immunisations went well.
Sheree – yes, feeding can be good and bad. Toby has problems from the other end… he gets terrible wind pain after a feed, so it’s not always fun for him either. I hope Lachie’s meds work well soon.
Took Toby to the doctor about that rash – it’s just another hormonal rash from birth (he has been really rashy ever since he was born… looks like he’s going through puberty!) and he’ll grow out of it I’m told. We weighed him and he’s about 5 kgs, so he’s put on 1.5 kg in a month which is great. I have a feeling he’s going to be our ‘real’ boy – he’s a bit more stocky than Charlie and much more loud! Charlie was always such a quiet crier and is so delicate, neat and particular – we think he’s going to be a ‘metrosexual’! Anyway, Toby has been a bit unsettled recently, but I think it’s more a combination of growing and wind pain, so I’m sure it will all settle down in the next few weeks. Right, time to put the (bigger) little boy to bed and have a nap myself I think. Hope you’re all well.
Shazz ~ Well done on the laps!!! I've done nothing!!! Still waiting for the copy of the exercise tape - at least thats my excuse LOL.
Sheree ~ awwww sweety! I hope Lachie gets better for you soon it must be awful for you. Is the medicine helping yet?
Kellee ~ Glad to hear the rash was nothing serious! And yes even I was a bit shocked at how MIA I was LOL! Em is weighing 4.87kgs now - which is just over 300g more then 2 weeks ago. So he has slowed down in his weight gain a bit.
Shots went well this morning. Didn't really like doing it to him but DP was there with us and Em wasn't too bad with them. The nurse said that his gums were probably sore hence the restlessness and other teething symptoms we've been having.
Well I think I spoke too soon on the 'at least we're still sleeping' thing LMAO! Em went down at about 11 and I didn't make it to bed till after 12 as I was getting stuff organized. So of course by about 2.30 he was awake again and didn't go back to sleep. He had 150mls in 50ml spurts from 2.30 till 8. He played on his side of the bed for awhile and then slept in my arms but he wasn't a happy chappy. But he was pretty good with his shots - it was more shock on his little face LOL. The nurse felt terrible hehe. She said that it would have to be the worst part of her job! He calmed down after a bottle and is now just playing. He was a bleeder though LMAO... blood squirting everywhere!!! So I'm tired and organized and just about to go to the shops and do a few things! BBL
Kellee and Nat, we have good and bad days, and the bad just outways the good I am afraid, how negative am I, I just can't help it. And to top it all off, just rang gyno re: results from papsmear and I have a low grade abnormality and need to have it checked in 6mths not 2 years. Just what I needed to hear, I am so sad and upset, I am so sick of my f***d up body it ain't funny. Had a scan yesterday on my wound too and I do have a pocket of fluid deep in my wound. I will talk to gp about it tomorrow in more detail, as that is all I know at present from the senographer.
Wonder what else could go wrong, so fed up! My SIL just said you need a break, and I said the way my luck is maybe I will get a break in my leg instead! Sorry havin a downer again.......
Oh Sheree:hug:   I feelso awful for you. I bet between Shazz, Kellee and I we can sympathise about feeling so bad. I have to tell you I hated this whole situation for the first 6 weeks. It's OK to admit that, and it's better to admit it to someone who can help you. When you go to the GP tomorrow, do you feel comfortable talking about the emotional stuff as well as the physical stuff? It's really better that someone like that knows. They can refer you to proper help - even if you feel like you don't need it. I didn't but took it anyway and it really did help.
I know it won't make you feel any different but I have abnormal pap smears every time. I have been on 6monthy/yearly pap smears for nearly 10 years. Being prgnent was the longest I have put it off, and guess what? Yep it's come up again.
Sorry rambling - ignore if you can't be bothered.
Had a SHOCKER last night. Wouldn't sleep all day, not in the arvo, not until 9pm. Awake at 1 until 7.30am!!! Then I had to rush this morning to get her to the clinic. SHe's only put on 50gms this week. The nurse (one I haven't met before, but lovley) told me it was probably becasue I had AF last week and it changes the taste of the milk. I had noticed her being fussy and her nose is a bit stuffy so I'm not too worried, but I would have like it to be a bit more.
Finally she's gone down this afternoon. Here's hoping it lasts long enough for a cuppa on my own.....
